Reviews of M.Manze Bermondsey

It's really difficult to rate, because if you're not a local or a regular customer - and there were plenty of those coming in while I was there, which is always a good sign - then Manze's is as much a museum exhibit or an experience as a restaurant.
I didn't get to go to Manze's in the 50s, 60s and 70s, but my parents and their families did, and they tell me that it hasn't changed. They didn't get to go in the 1920s, but I doubt it had changed much then either.
Original tiles, bench seats with no individual tables, traditional hand made pies and decent liquor, all as it used to be.
So what you get is decent, honest food, at incredible prices, that's an exact replica of the experience of just over a hundred years ago.

I have longed to come here ! My first experience was absolutely the way I would expect it. Lovely, friendly staff and so welcoming. I went there today with my husband (newlyweds yesterday) and ordered pie, mash, liquor and gravy with jellied eels.. best ever! We are coming back here tomorrow. This place has so much history I am so fascinated. Best traditional pie and mash.
Thank you for having us 😊

Pleased to say Quality South London old school pie mash served by local old school people.
For a taste of nostalgia or for a new experience, take time out to visit and try.
Went back again two days ago, Wow even better than the the first visit, up there with the best, don't miss out

A true gem of classic London. It has everything you would expect from a place like this and I loved it. Also getting to try a vegan pie at such a traditional location is a huge plus.

We came here to taste jellied eel. And we were not disappointed. We tried mash and pie as well. Lovely food, friendly and helpful staff.

Decent Pie & Mash served in a traditional old school environment. No two P&M shops taste the same, and while my food here was totally fine the mash was almost too refined for my tastes of this classic dish. More lumps and spicier chilli vinegar please 😆 Since the 10/10 F.Cooke on Broadway Market closed my quest to find the perfect pie and mash goes on.

Pie and mash were nice but jellied eels were really not my thing. The flavour was alright but it was the texture what did not make it for me

Pie and mash lovely. Unfortunately, we got the jellied eels to go. £5 per portion. They were disgusting, 5 absolutely tiny pieces, jelly was vile. Overpriced. So disappointed, totally mugged off. wished we'd checked the carton before we left the shop.

Excellent experience, in one of the oldest pie & mash shops. The profile of the shop remains as artisan to its time, and the pie, liquor, but especially eels were very tasty. Price remains generous for quality and quantity, and staff are very friendly.
