Just one treatment with Chris will leave you feeling more limber, taller and more upright, but I'd recommend him for long term treatment and improvement/resolution of chronic issues. I have ongoing issues with shoulder tension and migraines, and, when I first started seeing him I could barely lift my arm above the shoulder, and got debilitating cramps and spasms at any time of stress. Despite being 8 years older now, a few treatments with Chris a year plus stretches and exercises recommend by him have improved so much, I may soon not need to see him anymore! Perhaps wishful thinking that. But I'll go back to him with any future muscular problems I have, he knows exactly where the apply pressure to release pain and you always feel like you are in very safe, expert hands in his lovely garden studio treatment room.

I've been seeing Chris for sports massages for over 5 years now and his knowledge and expertise means I always benefit. After the last treatment, I completed a 22 km walk with 1000m ascent without so much as a twinge. When the going gets tough, then tougher; Chris’s sports massage really is a must for relieving the stresses of modern life. I, personally, have gained so much from his treatment on fascia and underlying muscles that my level of stress is certainly relieved at each treatment. My posture has improved immensely has as the flexibility of my back (my yoga has benefitted). My fascia and muscle tension also is generally more relaxed. I always benefit from his treatments and inevitably leave a much-improved human being! Being a sports-masseur he intimately understands the muscles’ function, structure and their relationships and is able to manipulate at any strength level that suits. There may be necessity to return to delve deeper into the muscle layers for successful gain. He is a very friendly consummate professional who I have no hesitation in recommending at the highest level. Try it once….and I dare you not to wonder why you hadn’t tried one of his treatments before!

He's going slowly and carefully, never going too far in one session but making a huge difference already. I've been a domiciliary footcare practitioner for some 8 years. My work involves a lot of bending forwards putting strain on the upper back and arms. I have consequently suffered from severe pain and discomfort for almost 4 years now. There are lots of people out there offering "cures". You name it and I've tried it. But none of them really work. I knew immediately I met Chris that he really understands the human body; he treats the body as a whole and not just the part that hurts. The treatment together with his advice has really helped. For example the pain in my hands and wrists has been completely alleviated. We're still working on the other problems but each session seems to build steadily on what has already been achieved and I'm able to continue working when at one time I thought I would have to give up. Postscript: Its now over a year and a half since I was fortunate enough to discover Chris and he really is better at relieving pain than anybody else I've come across. I have been seeing Chris for a number of years now and can honestly say he is amazing. Having suffered from neck and back issues over the years I am now living a very pain free life. As an avid gym goer I still try to see him once a month for general maintenance. He treated my 18 year old recently who could barely walk she was in so much pain. His treatment was so effective she was back on her feet in no time. My daughter Phoebe is 14years old, an elite gymnast, and competes as a Junior for Great Britain. I’m not sure I can improve on Nicola Johnston’s review! Chris is quite simply amazing. Not only does he resolve your issues with pain and stiffness etc but he clearly is interested and passionate about his vocation. I recently had severe back pain (which turned out to be a slipped disc and required an operation) and Chris took the time to phone me over the weekend. It was an immense help to me at the time and proves that he goes above and beyond…His knowledge is second to none and I always come out feeling 100% better than when I went in and I love the heat lamps!

It is rare that I do not wish to write a review for fear of letting Bristol's best kept secret out of the bag when it comes to massage therapy! Chris Wood is phenomenal - you enter with an issue and you leave with it resolved. He has saved me from many unnecessary medical procedures, often by working on an area of the body seemingly unrelated to the problem area. Chris is incredibly knowledgeable about human physiology, nutrition, exercise, stress management: he treats the whole body and mind holistically without possibly knowing quite how much he is giving to his patients. It is like no other massage I have ever had, I would recommend Chris unreservedly.
