Reviews of Saltire Motorcycles
P. J.
Great service today as always, staff friendly, helpful and courteous, from sales, servicing and after sales, all great.
Huge range of new and used stock. Fantastic to see the saltire guys doing so well.

Just had my new Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 dropped off by Frank at Saltire. Went through the bike and gave me some grand advice. So excited it's beyond words. The guys at Saltire have been great, friendly and helpful staff and eager to share advice. Kept me up to date with the bikes delivery. Thanks so much to Davie and Jethro. Thanks so much for all your help.
Just got to wait for the wife to get home and watch the baby before I can get out and have a play 😜🙈🏍️

Jethro knows more about Electric vehicles than Elon Musk!
After trialling the Livewire Electric motorbike @ Harley Davidson, I enquired here to see their Zero EV bikes - the customer service and knowledge was a level above!
Jethro took time to establish my needs, and to match the bike that would be best suited. After 2 demo rides it was easy to differ against the Livewire.
Deal done, I'll be a customer for a long time - highly recommend

Big thank you to Saltire for helping me to pass all the tests (in one go, and although I never had any much exposure to bikes) in order to obtain the motorbike license. Massive shout out to James and Colin, who have been extremely educative and informative during the whole teaching process. Last but not least, thanks to Jethro and Adele for organising the training and exam dates. Finally, motorbikes (especially KTMs 890cc) are awesome to ride, very high tech, comfy and easy - the perfect choice for practice and exams.

Great place to visit for motorcycles with many various makes. Huge inside space and downstairs that will keep those keen bikers, occupied longer than you thought. Come down for a coffee in Uncle Bucks too.

If you are looking to do your Module 1 and 2 bike tests then this is the place. These guys really know their onions, Jethro and Adele communicated well throughout my journey. And the 3 instructors who helped me, Colin, John and Brian were spot on, they have a wealth of knowledge and years of experience and it really shows.

I was in Saltire today looking at helmets. I was dealt with by Joleen who was first class, very knowledgeable, keen to help and was clearly passionate about what she was doing. I tried on a few different helmets and after a bit of decision making settled on a Shoei. It needed a little adjustment done to it to make it fit perfectly but this was done quickly and with no fuss. I’ve now got a helmet I have 110% confidence in, and I had a really good experience buying it.

Without mincing words, I will say with all certainty that Saltire Motorcycles is the No. 1 for Rider training. My experience with them has been nothing but excellent. I passed my Mod 1& 2 first time!, my instructor, Colin is exceptional and his training delivery was just pure class!. I highly recommend Saltire Motorcycle for Rider CBT & DAS.

Ok, im to give an honest review. Well, in over 40 years, i have never enjoyed a steak mince pie as much. The cafe inside the centre was like visiting a local, friendly wee pub. Coffee was brilliant, as was the whole visit. As Arnie would say... I'll be back. ✔ 👍 ☺
I. M.
Cannot recommend saltire enough. I took my
CBT, mod 1 and mod 2 with them over a 2 year period (the gaps due to my own hectic schedule). Jethro who runs the place is incredibly accommodating and genuine, and the instructors are really fantastic (I had Colin and Brian).
T.
Did my CBT and purchased a motorbike here and the service has always been 110%. Great cafe and such a cool looking showroom with a great selection of new and used bikes.
C. G.
Completed my CBT with Saltire Motorcycles, service from all the staff was absolutely fantastic. Instructors were great, really clear, patient and supportive when needed.
M. J.
Excellent motorcycle training, highly recommend. I hadn't been on a bike for 14 years and Colin gave the confidence to ride the 125 then a Suzuki 650 by the end of the afternoon, it was exactly what I needed.
C. A.
Amazing staff, friendly service. They put me through my CBT and my DAS full licence and I couldn't have been better prepared or better advised. Thanks!

I had a voucher and was looking for summer gloves. They have a good range of gear and an amazing setup in the garage including a great cafe and even a pool table. I had a thought provoking chat with Callum the MD about the two most important 'B's', Bikes and Brexit! I got a lovely pair of gloves and then had a coffee and chat with Anne who runs the Gasoline Alley Cafe. It's pretty clear everyone has motorbikes as not just a job, but a passion. I'd highly recommend a visit.

Whoa, this place become now world famous. Bikers from around the world visiting Edinburgh, hire a bikes from Saltire Motorcycles and going for a trip around Scotland... this place offers hundreds of motorcycles to buy new and used, service/workshop is usually busy as you can imagine but if you in trouble on the road they won't let you stranded. Simply call them as I did and you'll be back on two wheel in no time. If you just passing by and don't know this place already simply go for a coffee and burger and look around...

Completed my CBT with Grant on the 125cc pictured and was very impressed with the experience. The place is massive with showrooms full of 2 wheeled pleasure as well as clothing and kit. Had the mac n cheese with chips from the cafe they've got on site which was tidy! Never felt nervous or rushed, course was done at pace and was very thorough. Will be getting some road experience on 2 wheels and will be back for my direct access.
J. P.
I bought my Street Twin here a couple of months ago. I wasn't really sure what I was after at the time but Eddie was really helpful and gave me all the time I needed to make the right decision, never pushy, just great advice and patience. All the guys are really knowledgeable and made the time to chat about my options even though they were super busy! I'd been around a few other dealers before I came to Saltire and none of them were as welcoming, helpful and friendly by a long shot. I was allowed to test ride a few bikes until I fell in love with the Triumph and I honestly couldn't be happier with the whole experience from start to finish. I'll always recommend Saltire to anyone looking for a new bike or gear, or even if you're just after a coffee and a chat and to look at bikes :)
I. D.
Love the place, great bikes and great banter. Meet the world in an hour with various visiting bikers. No issue with servicing, even look after your helmet while you grab a bite inside the Cafe.
g. n.
Great selection of bikes and really helpful staff , got to test ride a Royal Enfield Meteor 350 , superb experience
s. e.
Excellent service. Got a puncture immediately we set off to do the NC500 so went back home took off the wheel and went down to Saltire to get a new tyre. The guys were on it immediately and we were soon back on the road for our trip.
Many thanks to the service team for a great response and getting us back on the road without much delay.
S. R. s.
I came in 5 min before the closing time by accident and the staff was as helpful as they could be at that time so would recommend going there in time so you can get everything that you want done, done.
J. M.
Had a taster session on a bike prior to doing my CBT training next week. The taster session got me on a bike for the very first time, and by the end of the session felt confident moving onto the CBT. Great facilities and staff.
s. g.
Lovely customer service. Everyone was so nice. 100% going back to buy any motorbike stuff!
J. S.
I have rented motorcycles all over the world, and many places could learn from Saltire. I have rented Indians from Saltire twice in 3 years. The employees are very friendly and helpful, both on the rental side and in the store. On our second day, one motorcycle broke down completely. Saltire loaded a replacement into a van and drove it about five hours out to our location. Thanks to their responsiveness, we were able to get back on track and not lose out on any of our planned trip. These guys (and gals) are really great.
M. D.
Perfect team to get you through the DAS. Colin and James were excellent tutors for the whole course and getting through each stage of the licence. Great learning routes and approach to teaching the basics/handling. Despite Covid and stalls to test dates, they along with Jethro, were super helpful in getting the deal done and first time pass through with no issues!
Get your theory out the way and then give these guys a call, you'll be on the road in no time.
b.
I recently done my CBT, bought a bike and some gear from these guys. I will be highly recommending Saltire to anyone I hear of wanting anything Motorbike related. They are truly outstanding in all their services. Check them out, head down and have a blether you wont be disappointed.
R. C.
Absolutely fantastic service!
They look after you every way possible, thanks to Frank, Callum, Levi and the rest of the team. Silly me had a nightmare this morning and was lucky enough for Frank to pick me up at the side of the road as he was passing and noticed the Indian Scout. Got to Saltaire and bike checked over and splash of fuel to get me on my way. Cheers guys!
f.
Niki gave a professional helmet fitting service, which is what I've come to expect from Saltire. The sales personnel always give good advice with no sales pressure. They go out of their way to ensure you leave with appropriate kit that fits well and suits the customer needs.
M. P.
Unfortunately i started out with a different motorcycle school at Seafield. After a number of lessons being belittled and made to feel humiliated I decided to give Saltire a try. I am so glad I did. The staff were brilliant and very respectful and I had no problem passing my Mod2 test. Thanks guys 👍
S. R.
Great place with a large selection of bikes for sale. I'm currently doing my combined A1/A2 license with their rider school aswell!
A. K. (.
I recently done my training with saltire. Cbt and DAS. Colin was fantastic in taking me through the DAS training. Very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions that I had. He explained everything really well and made me feel really confident when taking my MOD 1 and 2 tests. Thank you so much Colin. Also cannot fault the staff. Really friendly from the moment you walk in. I got new jacket and gloves whilst there and the advice I got was brilliant. I wasn't sure what I wanted to get just that it needed to be suitable for summer riding and walked away really happy. Will be using saltire many times in future.
M. P.
Brilliant place to get your direct access for motorbike.
Passed mod 1 with John, it was a pleasure and really thorough training, not a thing missed.
Just passed my mod 2 with Colin with a Clean sheet (no minors). That's just a reflection of the guys efforts and devotion to the riders training. Thanks again folks! 👌✌️ Another happy biker on the road.
W. B.
This place is huge now. Not just a show room but a place to meet up and chill out. Bought my new bike here and it was simple and pain free. My wife done her lessons here too and found the staff fantastic and really helped her build her confidence on the bike. Pretty easy to get a test ride or advice on the bike too. Not so easy to get a warranty repair though
G. A.
Passed my bike test back in 2017, was a great experience doing it with John. Was good catching up with him today out on the road. Keep up the good work.
S. C.
Great experience getting my motorbike in for its MOT. Customer service excellent and got a free cup of coffee whilst waiting for it! Friendly post MOT advice given
S. M.
Fantastic service touring Scotland and shot the tyres on the popped in explianed the situation and a bit of time later new tyres fitted and back on the road great staff can thank them enough 👍
A. B.
Got my cbt beginner done here and can't say enough about how good the day was, great guy took us out, the shops something else!!
T. B.
First of all I would just like to say how great the set up you have up at Saltire. I have been a couple of times now and this time my pal wanted to view the set up and he was really impressed!
I collected my Brand New Huqvarna Norden 901 yesterday which I ordered through Davie in sales. He has been a pleasure to deal with throughout the whole buying process.
I also had my Vitpilen 701 getting 2 x safety recalls done and the lads in the workshop are superb lads.
Then I kindly asked Davie if the chap (Frank?) who is the collection & delivery driver could help me load my van with my precious two motorbikes (he has helped me before) to make sure they were correctly loaded ready for my trip back to Newcastle which he 100% ensured. He did a great job and Levi also chipped in to help push the bikes in. Again Levi was a top gent!
The customer service and attention to detail was simply superb and I will highly be certainly recommending,Saltire motorcycle!
*Also the breakfast we had was great, so well done to Uncle Buck!
Thank you all again and I can't wait to return.
g. t.
Great experience buying a bike from these guys. Very helpful and listened to what I was after. Very helpful staff when it came to picking a helmet/clothing and a great selection to choose from. Would definitely recommend
Q.
We were very happy with the service and can fully recommend going there with your motorcycle needs.
L. M.
I had never ridden a motobike before going to a taster session at Saltire.
From this first ride I have enjoyed every moment (despite learning through the Scottish winter!)
The very patient team at Saltire always shaped my lessons around what I wanted to learn.
A special shout out for James for never getting bored of telling me to turn my indicator off and going through 5000 roundabouts.
I never felt like my question were ridiculous and I always felt encouraged and engaged. What an asset.
I finally passed my Module 2 four months after my first taster ride and have enjoyed every moment.
Thanks to the whole training team at Saltire - you’re all bloody awesome.
Now which bike do I buy?….
T. S.
Great training centre, great dealership, Uncle Bucks coffee shop hits the spot, all the guys there are super helpful
H. C.
Passed my CBT and full bike test with these guys. Highly recommend as their quality of training is is high. You go to your bike test confident you can ride well.
James is a superhuman instructor for putting up with my madness and I'm so grateful he helped me pass my test, first time!
Jethro also made sure that all the admin side of things ran smoothly.

I bought a ktm 790 duke from a shop in England, once I received the bike it had no track mode I phoned saltire motorcycles and even though I never bought my bike from them they booked me in and activated track mode free of charge with no hassle at all so big thanks
K. R.
Wide range of bikes. Large shop with lots of gear. No problem booking test ride. The service department is what lets them down though imo. No complaints about the work done to my bike, but some (not all) of the staff come across as very disinterested. I turned up dripping wet and they didn't even offer me a paper towel to dry off my hands. Labour changes are high - £80 an hour. Come on guys, you're mechanics not lawyers.
V. K.
Great place to get motor bikes and accessories particularly Indian motorcycles.
Very helpful and friendly staff.
See Callum for Indian motorcycles.
R. A.
Did a Starter session, CBT, Mod1 and 2 in quick succession. Passed the second today.
Massive thankyou to Colin, John and the rest of the team for making it happen so quickly with a second to none training structure and delivery. Couldn’t be happier thanks Saltire Motorcycles!
H. h.
Really helpful and understanding staff, as had a CBT booked but have had to postpone it for medical reasons. Excellent layout, love all the different rooms and the displays are amazing. Made to feel really welcome which is really nice.
T. L.
They fixed my bike after 2 othere garages couldn't find any faults with it
S. C.
Exceptional service from the parts department, supplied my missing bolt and loaned a tool to fix it in place. Highly recommended 👌 👍
C. M.
Did my CBT here. Went from a complete beginner to feeling confident on the bike in a day. Our instructor was great and I would highly recommend to anyone.
C. G.
It is impossible to praise this business too highly as it has a fantastic selection of what I call superbikes. The staff I spoke to were all knowledgeable and extremely well informed and very friendly. It is a shame that my biking days are over as I saw machines which made me saliva.

UPDATE: So, 18 months on from my CBT and just completed my A1 moped training with Saltire, and passed first time despite my best efforts and those of the February weather. Jethro did a great job tailoring a package to suit my odd request to just get my A1 moped licence and fit it around my diary commitments. Big thanks to Colin and John who got me through the module 1 and module 2, they were great. I may well be back to get a full licence on a big bike. I had the same experience as with the CBT, all good.
Did my CBT with Saltire Motorcycles on Friday past on an automatic moped and very happy with the whole experience. I’m a key worker and Jethro very kindly remembered this and offered me a cancellation at short notice so I was able to get on the road quickly. The price is pretty standard and frankly good value for the training you get.
We used the indoor yard in the morning before heading out onto the road in the afternoon, which really built confidence. The moped I rode was safe and easy to use for a total novice like me. I had my own kit but they can provide everything you need and it was pretty new. Brian was our instructor and he was excellent, great teacher very knowledgeable and experienced and split his time between the two of us really well. As a total beginner it was great, not intimidating and I’d heartily recommend. My deafness was no issue or drama and adjustments made without having to ask. Many thanks again Brian - you weren’t wrong about the differences I’d experience when using my electric moped: the pick up is plenty sharp and the silent running really has made me invisible!
L. T.
Wouldn’t recommend this place, my husband is still waiting on call from last year about his Mod 1 resit, The problem they can’t fit training around you it has to be in there terms. There way or the highway so whats happens now is has partly lost money out of the company. Stay clear. #Since my last review my husband Craig Dickson has passed is MOD 2 test with Saltire so thank you Jethro for getting in touch and want to thank you all very much. And a Big thank you James the trainer was amazing putting Craig through his test. Craig Dickson
P. C.
I did my CBT and went through to complete my DAS with Saltire and sailed through first time thanks to Colin's top guidance. Jethro got me a beast of a KTM 890 to play on, Nicky sorted me out with a class helmet, gloves etc and Jolene tweaked the padding in the lid to get an incredible customised fit. It's just a shame about Uncle Jock's patter ;)
S. B.
Purchased bike in Jan 2020 from Saltire and sales (John) and service was first class and fuss free. Unfortunately had to sell same today and Saltire bought it back (Mark). Again, fuss free and settlement all made on the spot. Great bacon roll too in the cafe. Courtesy all round and would recommend.
J. B.
Great bikes. great cafe. CBT is another thing though. My bad In the job i do i have to be running at 100 kpm Settling down to focus can be hard. Everyone at Saltire have been very amicable to date
S. G.
This place has some amazing motorcycle's on show and a great cafe with good food.
J. H.
I've been using Saltire for all my biking needs for years with nothing but positive experiences.
This specific time, I required advice and assistance with an issue I had with a newly bought bike. There was nowhere else I trusted. This allowed me to discuss and resolve the issues with the seller. I couldn't be more appreciative.
N. B. C.
Visited today to have a look at the motogirl range. although they didn't have the jacket I was looking for the girl (so sorry I didn't get your name) showed me an alternative which fits like a dream and looks amazing on! ended up buying a pair of jeans, gloves and a bag also 🤣 thanks for being super friendly and taking the time to go through everything with me. I'll definitely be back 💕
J. M.
Great Staff very helpful. Great clothing range. Go buy you motorbike clothing here.
D. H.
Staff are amazingly helpful. Didn't realise how big the place is. Rider taster session for my son was excellent, just need to check a few things before we book in for the CBT. Well impressed.
m. c.
Bought my first bike after passing my CBT last October. Davie in sales was extremely helpful and friendly throughout the purchase, and the bike was also delivered quicker than expected. Can't remeber the delivery driver's name but he was also extremely helpful, giving plenty of maintenance tips and how I should look to progress to an A2 licence. Overall a great experience and would definitely use saltire again.
S. M.
Overall just a great experience, John helped me buy my first proper bike. Really friendly and helpful. Got a great deal and the part/service department lost out on their lunch break to make sure I got my spare key sorted! Can't thank them all enough!
I. N.
Very helpful and informative, great selection of bikes
J. F.
Did my CBT here. James, Jethro and John were so patient and helpful when health issues (and then nerves) interrupted training, but I did it when I went back. Super bunch and I can't wait to move on to the next training!
A.
First time dealing with Saltire Motorcycles and I've got to say, I'm very impressed! I originally called to see if they would price match a new KTM, with an offer I had found on Autotrader. Spoke to Davie in sales who not only matched the offer, but told me he could have the bike prepped and delivered to my door within a week. Bike arrived in perfect condition, and I have just returned from their shop after getting the 600 mile service done.
Having personally spent many years in the bike trade, I'm not that easily impressed. I have to hand it to the guys down there though, they are running a very tight operation. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, who have bent over backwards, to ensure my new bike experience was exactly like it should be. No hidden costs or B.S. just a good honest service. Other dealerships should take note!
M. R.
Saltire Motorcycles is just amazing. Absolutely the best customer service and passion I’ve seen from any staff of business. The staff are super understanding, helpful and polite.
I have had the best experience with them when it came to purchasing my 125cc bike, to booking my CBT and completing my CBT. The Instructors are just brilliant and you can see how passionate they are about riding motorcycles and go out their way to build you confidence and making sure you are safe.
Even getting my own kit, the staff at the shop know their stuff and were so patient and kind to a person who was just starting out his journey into riding motorcycles.
I am in love with my new bike and with my gear (specially my helmet). Can’t wait to get more experience with my 125cc bike and come back to Saltire and get my full bike licence. I have found a new freedom and happiness and it all down to the staff at Saltire Motorcycles that have made it possible. Don’t go anywhere else man, Saltire motorcycles are amazing.
P. R. H.
Ordered some bike gear off of these guys online, it arrived on my doorstep super fast, and fantastic quality gear! Absolutely amazing customer service and communication from them too! Huge thanks. Will definitely be shopping here again :D
C. M.
Needed 2 bikes moted, with great customer service they managed to book the 2 in back to back.
Certainly made my life easier! Recommended & great comms.

Here is my experience with this company. I had Bike license training class. That was life memorable for me. They were so convenient and helpful. Everyone looking for successful on the life. An anyone looking for Motorcycle license today. Do not let fined the Saltire with Instructor "ROB" !!!! He has the best knowledge in the world to read to students weakness. I would say +5 star to Instructor "ROB" And Saltire.....
P. E.
Hi there I feel I just have to write a review about this company these guys are absolutely brilliant. I first of all phoned them just to ask for advice on how to book my 16 year old son onto a CBT course and from the first call to then doing the course and then having them look at the puncture on my sons scooter EVERY SINGLE MEMBER OF STAFF could not have been more helpful I would just like to say a massive thankyou to each and everyone of you, You all certainly made getting my son Aiden through the CBT test so much easier than I expected Once again thankyou so much to the girl on the phone to the guys in the parts dept to the guy that booked Aiden into the test and to the instructor Colin who made Aiden feel so relaxed you are all doing a fantastic job keep up the good sorry GREAT work guys thanks again Paul Eddington
B. L.
I can't speak more highly about all the team and service at Saltire Motorcycles. I did my riding training with Colin through to getting my full license with 0 minors. The experience was great; Colin has an excellent teaching style, he is very calm, patient and understanding which puts you at ease when preparing for the test. I took my test feeling fully prepared and it paid off. When the weather gets a bit warmer I will definitely be booking on for the advanced rider training with Colin.
The clothing store and show room are great, its every bikers dream; they have a great selection and every one in there has an extensive amount of knowledge of bikes.
I couldn't recommend Saltire Motorcycles highly enough.
M. E.
They have spent a lot of money making it the go-to place for everything motorcycling. There is a cafe, three or four different brands, a great accessories place for bike gear, a motorcycle training school, a service centre and of course somewhere to buy motorbikes!
k.
Friendly knowledgeable staff and always a good range of bikes, clothing, helmets etc always on show. Even has a wee cafe for food and to mull over your purchases.
g. w.
Very helpful staff. Sorted me out with a suitable bike. Have a large range of clothes and accessories in store
L. W.
Hi there, just purchased my 4th motorcycle from Saltire a pleasure as always. Through the years they have expanded greatly but the friendliness and standards just get better with time. Dealt with Dave this time, (top man). i stay in Glasgow and will always go to Edinburgh to use Saltire because they are the "BEST" Kind Regards Les Weir.
D. W. (.
In person, and I stress this point, Everyone I spoke to or dealt was very friendly and helpful. The whole facility should be a template for how motorcycle showrooms should be. A complete one stop shop.
However.
My transaction with Saltire left me somewhat saddened.
Trying to get information about the progress of my brand new bike was like pulling teeth. Not ONCE did the salesperson actually call me and volunteer information, EVERY time I had to email and wait 2 days or call them and hunt him down.
Upon actually receiving my new bike there was a very minor cosmetic issue. Again this hasn't been dealt with very well either. Never ever replies until you needle them again. Makes me feel like i'm the one being difficult. Is that how I should feel?
This should be the place i go to for my every bike need. I felt like it would be, but I'm somewhat soured on the place now.
In the end I think i got a decent deal. But the sales experience was very very lacking.
G. H.
Just wanted to say a massive thanks to the team at Saltire Motorcycles for what they've done for me this week. I bought a three year old GSX-S1000 from them back last year which very quickly developed a fault. They instantly recalled it back to their workshop and under the terms of their used bike warranty fixed the problem. Unfortunately, a few months later the problem returned (a battery/charging issue) and again, Frank was out immediately and the bike was recovered back into the workshop. This time the diagnosis wasn't good and I was offered a full refund of all monies paid. They didn't want me being bikeless which I am very much grateful for. The CEO of the company Calum Murray has also gone above and beyond normal bike dealership customer service I reckon, and sourced me a brand new bike from one of his contacts, which I pick up soon. Big thanks to Rosco and Tommy too for the help they gave me. Absolutely the best company to deal with, wouldn't go anywhere else.
S. H.
First class all-round service every time.....and I've been in a lot of times. Over the years I've Bought a used bike, parts, clothing and a helmet. Excellent choice and advice given without the pressure of a salesperson breathing down your neck. Had reason to return my bike recently for some warranty work and I'm really impressed. Not only has all the work been completed, they adjusted and lubed my chain and cleaned the bike too! Everyone I dealt with were friendly and gave me the impression that they valued my business. My girlfriend did her cbt with the training school and had a similar experience of the patient, no-pressure and friendly service I've experienced too. Looking forward to seeing the place once the renovations are complete. Worth a visit. If you're thinking of buying anything bike related, give Saltire a try first. Service as it should be.
C.
Wonderful motorcycle training with very friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming staff. Huge range of bikes from 125s to Harley's and Indian all displayed in a bright easy to navigate showroom. Fantastic packages of bikes and training offered and clothes and accessories shop for all your motorcycle needs as well as servicing. Couldn't recommend the experience of a CBT taster enough, Loved it!
C. B.
Great training experience from the guys, Rab for all his efforts and constructive help. Only negative is more continuity when doing the DAS , you do seem to get different instructors so a bit time wasted each time as you and the instructor get to know each other. Otherwise Recommended
G. M.
Bought all-but-one of my bikes from Saltire and they haven't ever let me down. Great, friendly, helpful service that is always straightforward and honest.
Done my training with them also, solid advice and tuition throughout.
Furthermore, with the new expansion the place is worth a day trip alone! Impressive selection of two-wheeled eye candy and a cafe that serves a more than adequate amount of tasty cholesterol needed for a lengthy bike ride afterwards.

Staff couldn't have been more helpfully-minded. Shop was well stocked and provided great advice for a newbie like me.

Got some great advice to install a tracker on my new bike which was a great idea considering it was just stolen and recovered!

Great training experience. Friendly and tailored tuition. Would recommend.
Update Sept 2016: After completing CBT earlier in the year (very good experience) I returned to Saltire to do my Mod 1 and Mod 2 bike tests. Training was with John and Nigel. Both guys were excellent in their knowledge, methods and competence, and are thoroughly good guys to talk to generally. I am pleased I chose Saltire again, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for motorbike training.

Fantastic training setup. Colin, James and Jethro were second to none and made the process smooth throughout. Can't reccomend them enough as the instructors took there time and really boosted your confidence throughout the days with great emphasis on safety in real situations. First time pass for both me and my wife so couldn't be happier. We will definetely be back to get on the advanced course!

Just want to report my experience getting work done on my old motorcycle at Saltire Motorcycles was the best. I normally maintain the bike myself but this job was beyond my skill level and I did have my concerns handing it over but I need not have worried, the service department took it in their stride and the mechanics did a brilliant job. I would be happy to use Saltire Motorcycles again and can only recommend them on this experience. My thanks to all at Saltire Motorcycles.

Thought I had reviewed this place a while back after a visit.
A really great selection of toys and gear, sales guy I spoke to was very honest about a K5, I thanked him for his advice and never pursued the bike...excellent I thought.
Overall I had a really good experience in here friendly staff particularly the big guy in the Indian bit who kept Melanie chatting when I was trying on some tops and "jaikets".
Never bought a thing but I would have no hesitation to do so in the future... thanks for a pleasant visit.

Ended up with a screw in my rear tyre on the way to work and was in a bind. These guys squeezed me in and repaired the puncture while I waited. Very helpful staff (everyone I spoke to was welcoming and friendly) and a great setup with the way you can ride right into the place. Very well setup! Will definitely be going back here again!

Everyone at Saltire is amazing, super friendly and knowledgeable and really patient with learners! I didn't feel patronised or looked down on once, they're all just super excited to share their passion. Jock did my CBT and he was the loveliest person ever, I felt safe and in control and loved every minute (once I'd got over my nerves). Couldn't recommend highly enough!
C. M.
Had a broken disk lock on my rear wheel and they took it off in less than 15 minutes for me and only cost £20. Also I am selling the bike and had a fear that someone would steal the bike over the weekend, so they let me store the bike at their garage free of charge. Incredible customer service.
C. R.
Been going here since it opened and they always had a reasonable clothing section. However, popped in last week to be pleasantly surprised and find the clothing section has expanded into where the Yamaha section was!! It’s first class with something for everyone. Really good with friendly staff who helped as I trued on furygan trousers.
Bizarrely, you would think the bike stick would be less - no, never seen so many bikes in the showroom!!

So let me start by saying, I've never had an experience in a motorcycle shop like Saltire. So my friend and I are over for a couple of weeks from America. We wanted to see the Scottish roads from the back of a bike. I called John about a week in advance, and we picked our bikes. He was very straight forward with everything. He also suggested some very good, long routes that would allow us to get our moneys worth. Inclement weather was coming for one of the days we had the bikes, so John said it could be very open ended, for our plan to bring them back. We took them back just over a day later, and John was very helpful about everything. I absolutely recommend Saltire for all your rental needs, they've got a great selection of the most recent Motos and their service is bar none the best. I will definitely be renting again in the future when we come back.
B. L.
Three of us rented bikes for a week from Saltire and I could not have been happier with the service and the bikes. I dealt with Alex and he was super informative and helpful in getting everything together even though we were in very different time zones and only communicated through email. If you ever need to rent a bike to go around Scotland, Which I highly recommend you do, then go and see Alex at Saltire Motorcycles, you will not regret it.

Thank you to the whole team at Saltire for helping me book my CBT last year and advising me and booking my big bike training this past month. I've passed Mod1 and Mod2 first time and I couldn't be happier. It was a bit daunting approaching the training but looking back on it I am so happy with how Saltire handled the whole experience for me. I really enjoyed learning with you guys. Brian and Ian were brilliant at getting me through the CBT and giving me confidence to go on the road. Rab was fantastic with the Mod1 and Mod2 and his teaching is phenomenal. I made such good progress on the course and it's all down to how he approached our training. I've always been happy to recommend you guys to anyone asking me about motorbike training and I will continue to do so. Thanks again for brilliant training and for being a lovely, friendly team!

Just went through my DAS training at Saltire and can’t speak highly enough about the level of customer service, quality of training and facilities. Everyone there has been so welcoming and supportive throughout the training which began with some lessons with Colin and Rab who taught me manoeuvres and techniques which were invaluable later on. I was then taken through my Mod 1 and Mod 2 by John, who has a wealth of experience. There’s no way I would have passed both Modules first time without John’s guidance, feedback, patience, expertise and encouragement.
Thank you Saltire.
G. F.
Just passed my Mod2 today, now officially a biker.Big Thank You to John for all his help and experience.
Would just like to say that the whole experience since I walked into your showroom last November has been brilliant.Everyone is friendly, helpful and enthusiastic.
Will be back soon to get advice on my new bike.
K.
Shopped here today for female biker clothes. Found everything I was looking for and more - excellent selection! I've completely forgot the girls name that assisted me from start to finish however her customer service was exceptional & friendly she was a massive help & it was much appreciated!
j. c.
Great food in the cafe, thanks guys for rustling up a garlic mushroom roll 😋. Good to catchup with friends and see the range of bikes , some crackers there

Bought a new bike in October. Just had the first service a fortnight ago and there was an issue with the dash.
Took it along and there was an oil leak just started. It was a simple fix - o ring problem. They fixed that, but I'll need to go back for the dash, under warranty.
Better to happen on the way to the mechanic!
Tommy knew what he was doing and explained the process.

Did my CBT mod 1 and 2 all with saltire and I can't believe how accommodating they are to individual needs, the whole team are friendly and knowledgeable not only just about bikes. Plenty of friendly chats make for a very personal experience. Can't recommend them enough and I'm sure I'll find any reason just to go back there
B. S.
If you are seriously looking to sit your "big bike" test, then look no further, from the moment you step in the door to talk about booking it the friendly and knowledgeable staff will make you feel at ease and talk you through each step of the process, I booked my direct access through Lindsay, she was very friendly and helpful. My instructor for my training was John, a very friendly and highly experienced rider, he was very good with the training he provided on the days and I couldn't have asked for more, he was very patient, he would answer any questions or concerns you had so you felt confident you knew what was required of you for your MOD1 and MOD2 tests. He left no part of the test in the dark, he went through everything very well. I also rode a little bit with Nigel during my training, again, he is a very friendly and knowledgeable rider, whether you are with John or Nigel both men will see you sail through your test. Off the bike both are great chat. Thanks again for getting me through my tests. I am loving the freedom of the big bike and the knowledge you both provided on the days will stick with me.
B. W.
After having no experience on a bike other than passing my CBT at Saltire I was skeptical about passing my DAS first time.
I had Nigel for my training and he was absolutely brilliant. On a professional and personal level he made me feel at ease.
I struggled initially with my confidence but Nigel remained calm, cut to the chase and essentially guided me through my Mod 1 with no faults at all!
Still to sit my Mod 2 but I am fully confident that they will be able to get me through that as well.
The whole atmosphere at Saltire is fantastic from the instructors to the friendly cafe!
5*

Great place in every aspect. Just be warned though. The words "Non refundable deposit" are never mentioned by the salesmen. For me it only appeared on the small print of the paperwork after I had put down the deposit. VERY cheeky way of scamming your hard earned money.
R. W.
Team really nice and helpful! Awesome clothing and helmets! Each time I go I get great service. Mainly delt with Cameron regarding helmet and a girl with brown hair at the clothing in Indian section. Great service from them.
C. S.
Just completed my CBT on Saturday the 06/07/2019. I had Brian as an instructor. He was great, very professional and knowledgeable. Was open to questions and very patient. Great service. I would 100% recommend.
C. C.
Can only give 4 stars simply because I can't 5 as I didn't gave any purchase experience here. Done a bit of window shopping. Had a look at the motorbikes in Saltire and Alba as both are in the same building. Staff were good asking if they could help but didn't pester you. The usual mix of clothing ranges from boots, helmets and clothing etc. On site cafe which people tend to just roll in( pun intended) for a bite to eat and a chat with other like minded people and a look around. Easy place to find and parking is available.
M. F.
I can't recommend the "Basic Motorcycle Maintenance Course" that Saltire run, highly enough. This was an excellent class, with a very knowledgeable and approachable Instructor in Tommy. With only 4 people per class, using your own bike to work on. This was perfect for someone who loves riding bikes, but is a bit negligent or in my case not sure about proper maintenance. Indeed even for someone who "thinks" they know how to maintain their bike.... I can assure you, you will learn a few excellent tips, some surprising and benefit from all the expert advice. Hopefully saving you money in the long run and letting you understand your bike a bit better.
A. B.
These guys were great all the way from me starting the CBT and ending with buying all the kit and a proper bike! Roddy, Joleen, Jethro, Cameron, John H., Jock, Colin, Rab and John - thank you all for this amazing journey and see you on the road! :)
S. S.
Great selection and the fitting service for helmets, gloves etc is amazing, especially for anyone new to motorcycling. Special thanks to Jolene for her incredible help!
A. S.
If you’re planning on training for your licence (do it!), Saltire is the place to go. I recently completed DAS and the instructors (Roddy, Nigel and John) and organizer staff (Lindsay, Caitlin) were outstanding. Great team and a fun experience – they’ll build you into a safe and confident rider.
If you’re already on the road, Saltire is an amazing place too – vast selection of bikes, expert sales staff and a great location to have a coffee and chat to fellow bikers. Maximum recommendation.
s. r.
Really sound bunch of guys. Went down to try out the zero motorcycles and had a blast. Think Levi was organising it and did a superb job. I would hesitate to come see these guys if ever in need of anything!
N. D.
* James* was great!!!I had my first taster, first time on a motorcycle ever and James was so helpful, patient and very enthusiastic! I can't wait for the next one 😁 Nikitoula
A. R.
Let the boss know that I wasn't completely happy last time. He got in touch, investigated the issues, asked me for a meeting and then explained in detail what was going to be done about things. Can't ask for more than that as customer service
M. M.
Just passed my A2 with Saltire and I have to say that the instruction was really first class. My instructer John explained the process clearly and gave excellent tuition on the training day and before the tests. Thanks John, very much appreciated (and needed)!! I also chatted to some of the other guys in the showroom and they are all really nice and very helpful. Can't recommend this place enough! I will definetly be using them for most of my motorcycle needs.

Great guys I trust them with all my bikes. They have taken time and care to make sure torque settings etc are perfect. Really enjoy visiting them and their service. Mike is a great guy.
J. E.
Would like to say a huge thank you to each and every member of staff at Saltire. Such a fantastic bunch of people that offer great professional, friendly and thorough training. The instructors are so supportive and genuinely want you to pass your test. Done my CBT elsewhere and really wish I had used Saltire instead, I can't recommend these guys highly enough.
P. R.
Rented two bikes here for myself and buddy for the day. The reservation system worked flawlessly and John was very responsive to any questions we had. The bikes were undistinguished from new ones and the ride around Scotland was beautiful.
G. O.
I bought a second hand Victory from Saltire. The price was fair, the service excellent, and a small issue with the bike was dealt with immediately and professionally. I would recommend Saltire 100% and would not hesitate to buy from them again. thanks guys.
M. F.
Absolute Legends! - My bike was damaged overnight in an attempted theft, found out the next day (on a Sunday)!. Luckily Saltire Motorcycles was opened and even though the workshop wasn't open they told me to bring the bike in and have in stored there till Monday.
They sorted me out with a rental motorcycle having be back on the road the same day! Special thanks to Alex for sorting me out and the good company :).
When I brought the rental bike back (next friday) I had the replacement parts with me (which I had to source through a different garage because my bike was not in there brandportfolio at that moment), they mounted the parts as soon as I bought them in so I could drive my bike back to the return ferry in time!
Absolutely brilliant place!
J. P.
I took my CBT and Direct Access with Saltire and passed. These guys are just great - all super friendly and the gear is good quality as are the bikes you learn on. We saw some other riding schools take their pupils into the test centre a few times and all looked scruffy compared to the Saltire guys. Can't recommend the rider training enough!
Marcin got me through my Mod 1 and Nigel my Mod 2. I'll be seeing more of them no doubt, and thanks for all the cups of coffee you bought me Nigel (I kept forgetting my wallet...)!
I've since bought all my gear and a Yamaha MT-07 from Saltire and literally every member of staff there is awesome - they all love their jobs and it shows. Why go anywhere else?
They also sell a lovely shade of purple lipstick, you'll have to go into Saltire to find out more.
R. K.
Recently sat my Direct Access Course here. The instructors were very friendly and had great banter.
The training received is more than enough to pass both tests 1st time.
A very enjoyable expericence even in Scottish weather.
P. C.
Just purchased a used bike. Great friendly service from test ride to after sales.
N. F.
Great customer service and advice if you want it. A place to talk bikes and maybe get a demo ride. They're Edinburgh's Indian, Yamaha and Suzuki dealers plus they have a used section as well as Alba customs.
o. w.
Great service, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Would highly recommend

Lots of bikes to check out
J. R.
Friendly staff, nice bikes!! Oh and you goto visit uncle bucks cafe for eats... credit to uncle bucks
A. H.
What a fab place. Nice café with friendly staff and great food and mugs of tea. Bikes, clothes, bits and pieces and a service centre.
They even do a well priced Maintenance course to help you keep your bike happy (2.5 hrs long but doesn't feel like it!).
All in all, a fab place.

Just passed my full bike test today with Saltire Suzuki!!! Have to say the whole team were first class. Lindsay was a pleasure to deal with sorting out my lessons and making sure I knew exactly what I needed to bring with me each day. Caitlin was a welcoming face in the morning and dealt with all the paperwork and made sure I had everything in order. Nigel took me out on the road and he really made the whole experience fun! His instructing style was absolutely spot on. I felt like he was improving my ability with every mile we road. Could not have asked for a better instructor. Glad to have kept his 100% pass record for 2017 as well The bikes were great machines and very well looked after. If anyone was thinking about a CBT, Direct access course or just a refresher to get back into riding you should look no further than Saltire Suzuki.
#Number1ridertrainingschool
Thanks guys I'm chuffed to bits!!!!
Ohh did I mention the heated grips!!!

I came across the saltire in March 2015 where I decided to do my CBT. From the getgo the training school team were incredible they explained everything well and made me feel very welcome and important.
I did my CBT training with John who was patient and very friendly. Once I passed my CBT Mark in the sales department helped me to pick the right beginner bike for myself. He was very approachable friendly and but by no means pushy.
Through out 2015 I was in and out of the saltire to purchase various items to assist me with my new bike and as always the sales team were helpful and full of useful advice.
In March 2016 I decided to bite the bullet and go for my DAS. I was very aprehensive about doing the training and tests but with the guidance and assurance from Nigel Harper I got thru my mod 1 and mod 2 training which can I highlight to anyone thinking about doing the DAS was an amazing experience one I will genuinely never forget. Thank you Nigel you are one in a million.
Once I passed the DAS I returned to the saltire to trade in my 125 for a new shiney Suzuki gsr 750!! This bike was sold by mark who once again gave me his expert advice and made the whole buying process a breeze.
I feel so happy that I have passed my DAS however I do have a little sad feeling that I will no longer have Nigel threatening to kiss me with his purple lipstick..... If you do the DAS with Nigel you will know what I mean.
I would also like to thank the Joleen and Lindsay, for making me feel so very welcome and I know whenever I pop in to the showroom wether it be to purchase items or just for a visit I will feel welcome. Thanks again folks it has been a life experience and a pleasure
D. A.
Did my mod 1&2 tests with these guys. Super professional. Everyone has a great attitude and there's a great atmosphere. They don't just want to to buy something, they want you to be part of a community.
S. D.
Bought a jacket last week and Cammie was really helpful, ordered in the size I needed and called me back when it was in. Excellent customer service, friendly and approachable.
G. M.
Just completed my Mod 2 first time around. All the instructors were excellent from CBT to Mod 1 and Mod 2 and the girls at the front desk were very organised and accommodating. The whole place has a really friendly atmosphere and every staff member I spoke to went out of their way to help me out. A big thank you to Lindsay, Caitlin, Jethro, Roddy, John and Nigel.
B. A.
First class training on both CBT and DAS. Did CBT with John and two weeks later started my DAS with Colin. Both patient, relaxed and highly professional, while also being a good laugh. I thoroughly enjoyed my training with Saltire and got my big bike license thanks to their training. Highly recommended.
T. T.
The staff members make you feel very welcome, they have all kinds of motorcycles and people that are specialized in them. After visiting 3 major Edinburgh motorcycle garages I honestly believe that's the best one. Thank you guys and I will see you soon.
E. C.
I can thoroughly recommend the CBT and Big Bike Training through Saltire Motorcycles. The intructors and the way the course is set up quickly gets you up and running and gaining the confidence needed to tackle the bike test. There is an indoor training area for starting out , the company provide all the kit and the bikes have heated handles for cold weather. All in all a very enjoyable experience.
M. L.
Everyone at Saltire were really helpful and supportive. Nigel, my instructor was patient and genuinely wanted me to pass. Which I did first time round with one minor in the pouring rain:)
I would recommend anyone interested in getting into riding to go here over anywhere else.
Thank you all so much.
M. L.
Grant was extremely helpful when I visited regarding concerns with my helmet (which wasn't even purchased there) and went out of his way to make the relevant phone calls and checks to ensure I left with peace of mind. I'd definitely recommend Saltire Motorcycles if you are looking for somewhere helpful, knowledgeable and friendly.
T. M.
Bought my first bike and all my gear here. Friendly and helpful staff. Has a decent enough cafe if you're ever stuck waiting on your bike being serviced etc.
d. g.
Visited here the other day. The staff were friendly and happy to help. Great for anything for you and your motorcycle. Heard its good for sitting your cbt and the instructors are good. Wiĺl be sitting mine there sometime soon.
J. C.
I hired a suzuki 650 v strom from saltire for 4 days for a highland bike tour. Cant fault their service. Alex was friendly and knowledgable. The bike did everything i expected it to do for the trip. I would highly reccomend saltire for a bike hire. The shop is great too, if you are into bikes its well worth a visit for an hour or do!
D. M.
Absolutely fantastic from start to finish! On arrival to do DAS motorcycle training the welcome from the staff was warm and friendly and the CBT carried out by Fred was thorough and enjoyable. The training carried out for the big bike license with Nigel was an absolute joy! He is a fantastic trainer who instills confidence and competence without feeling pressured and made sure each aspect of the training and testing was as stress free as possible. I can't thank him enough!
The equipment supplied by Saltire is spot on. Each morning the gleaming bikes were lined up ready for the trainees by Marcen which started the day off perfectly. The shop staff are just as fantastic! Lindsay and Joleen always greeted me with a smile and made me feel welcome and at ease.
I can't recommend Saltire Suzuki enough. I will use these guys time and time again 10/10 A+++!
S. S.
I did my CBT with Brian and it was brilliant! He gave me the confidence to over come an accident I was in 10 years ago and get back on 2 wheels! So happy haven't stopped smiling, great teacher and great staff. Thank you all for turning this nervous nelly into a confident leathered up biker chick (kinda🛵hee hee) I am already planning on coming back next year to upgrade from a Scotter to a proper motor bike!
K. M.
Completed my CBT, Mod 1 and Mod 2 with Saltire this year. I had Ian(I think was his name, a chap from the navy) and had John for my Mod 1 and Mod 2. Both were excellent and had a lot of patience for both my questions and my underwhelming riding skills (at the beginning!).
John was very balanced with his teaching style and knew the right times to put pressure on in the techniques and processes but also knew the times to let you find your own groove/confidence. The latter is clearly vital when you are setting up for your tests in the morning and it is effective given the high pass rates at Saltire.
Caitlin and Lindsay were excellent throughout the booking process for all the courses.

Whilst I still rate the training as 5*, here are a couple of things that could be improved:
-It takes far too long to get a slot! I appreciate this is a sign of success as a business but I think i needed to wait 3 months from booking to taking for my CBT and Mod1/2. I have to admit that this was really approaching the limit for myself but I decided to stick with the company based on a strong review of the training from a friend.
- Not sure if it is a directive from management but felt that it wasn't really necessary for the instructors to introduce the Saltire building. I can understand from the business perspective but it felt contrived/'salesy'. I feel that during your training you visit the building so many times that if you didn't notice what was being sold then you may be a bit dim/unobservant (and should you really be riding a bike in that case anyways?)
-I think it would be a good idea to offer cheap add-ons to the intensive, for example, an extra hour one on one to work on a particular skill. Whilst not necessary to pass the test, with safety in mind, it's a false economy not to improve your skills as a rider with extra training. Currently the only option is with advanced training which is pricier and with a different instructor so there is an extra barrier to entry.
-The new radios seemed to always lose connection once we stopped.
That being said, I still think the training was excellent and would recommend it to anyone. (Saltire also has one of the cheapest breakfast's i have found in Edinburgh)

Only wished I had purchased my new tracer from Saltire, than in a wee cowboy showroom in Falkirk, because I would run out of space , if I began to tell you my crap experience with this Falkirk dealer. I wont mention the name, cause ill leave that to your own thoughts. My journey from Renfrew, to Edinburgh was worth every pound that I gave Saltire. Neil at customer, an service could not do enough for me, and my service was half the price from Falkirk. Mechanic even corrected my suspension, and was invited into their workshop to explain to me, as to what they were doing. There is even a café, with real coffee on tap, and if you want a haircut, well that's next door to the café. The space is huge inside, with all sorts of bikes up for sale, so there is plenty to look at, while your there. Oh, and another bonus point was they answer there phone when it rings, and with voicemail, so they get back to you, ah mean, that you might want to buy a helmet, or even better a new bike. Overall, ten out of ten, because they value your custom, and that's what counts for me.

Dear Saltire Motorcycles I'd just like to say a huge thank you to Nigel and the team for the fantastic training I received over the past couple weeks. I’ve just passed my mod 2 test and it would not have been possible without you guys. I’ve truly enjoyed myself throughout the course. The team is truly amazing. Thank you
A. B.
Marvellous place. Edinburgh has waited a long time for a motorcycle dealer of this standard. A superb range of clothing and accessories to match the bike selection. The café is very good too, serving good food and drink at reasonable prices. More a destination than a bike shop.
D. P.
I have had a great experience of Saltire for my DAS training. From dealing with the girls booking my lessons and tests to all the instructors. A special thanks to Nigel for helping us through our Mod 2 today. All in all great training with great humour.
S. J.
They are very experienced people and will help you enjoy a motorcycle experience they have a very large veriety of motorbikes and the clothing department sales are very helpful when I visited it.
Although I do still prefer honda I would say that saltire do have a good reputation.
I would recommend them
R. L.
I did a CBT and CBT taster session (recommended!) with Saltire Motorcycles. I wasn't expecting the difficulty of the task but the guys knew their stuff and undertsood the level of challenge, and the instructor Jock knew exactly how much to be reassuring and how much to be firm throughout the process, and made sure you grasped each stage before moving on. The team understood the dangers involved, but also brought out the fun in the whole thing.
Highly recommended!
w.
I can't recommend Saltire driver training enough - All the team, especially John, Nigel and Lindsay, were fantastic in their support, and in the exemplary training they give. As a bloke of fairly advanced years it was indeed a challenge in attempting CBT then DAS in later life, but with the tremendous encouragement and friendly approach I managed to pass mod 2 first time this afternoon! The guys couldn't be more helpful or friendly and I can wholeheartedly recommend Saltire to anyone who has even the slightest glimmer of a desire to get on a bike and ride! Thanks again guys !
E. Y.
Just done my DAS course with Saltire. Really nice bunch of people. Booking the course was easy and they worked around my schedule which was great. My instructor was Marcin and he was brilliant. These guys seem overworked as they have a high volume of students and not enough instructors but at no point did I think that Marcin or anybody else were not giving it their all to putting me through the training. They genuinely wanted you to pass. The bikes I learnt on were relatively new machines and were great. The whole process was enjoyable and I'd highly recommend using saltire if your thinking of learning to ride.
S. G.
My very first motorcycle ride into Scotland, and chose Saltire motorcycles for their affordable prices, myriad range of motorbikes and great service. Jolene and John Banks are truly awesome!
D. M.
I had a fantastic experience with the training team at Saltire and would highly recommend them if you are considering doing any part of your bike training.
I did my CBT with another trainee, and we were instructed by Colin (I think). From basic controls to being out ont he road in a matter of hours and it felt great.
I then booked the rest of my training and tests (Mod1, and Mod2). All my mod1/2 training was given by Nigel who was brilliant throughout the training. Bikes are hard to control at first, but instead of getting angry or frustrated he just keeps urging you to keep trying until you get it, and get it I did :)
I passed both modules first time, and felt confident going in to both tests despite only having first rode a bike at the CBT a few weeks earlier.
I can't recommend Saltire enough - riding a bike is one of the best things I've ever learned to do, and I think it was made all the more special by the training folks at Saltire.
**Special Mention**
Joleen will be the one who checks you in each morning/afternoon and she was nothing but brilliant. Always made sure I had my paperwork, let me know who to speak to if I wanted to ask about a bike or equipment, and was just generally a pleasure to deal with.
j. s.
I did my Direct access with Saltire and the training and coaching I received was brilliant. The years of experience and expertise really showed through with training, and the friendly nature of the staff makes the whole experience very enjoyable.
If your looking to advance from your CBT then these guys really do deserve your attension. Thanks again to all the Saltire staff.
M. S.
Great display and even better cafe inside
S. A.
The staff are great, with a great range of bike clothing helmets and gloves. Definitely have everything under one roof. Only concern my wife has is I always buy something. I'm told two motorbikes is enough 😁
F. B.
Thanks to the very patient instructors at Saltire Motorcycles for helping me pass both mod 1 and 2. Much appreciated and very relieved 😊 Great team effort. Super friendly and supportive staff and amazing venue.
M. S.
Excellent service, called in on route from Doncaster to ride the north coast 500. Needed a tyre fitting ASAP, they squeezed me in quickly. Very friendly and knowledgeable would highly recommend and very competitive pricing
R. O.
Dropped my bike this morning after an emergency stop, bending my rear brake lever - called Saltire Motorcycles and they squeezed me in at lunch time; bent it back into shape free of charge! great service!
P. A.
We were looking to buy a new bike helmet, we did buy one for my wife but as weel needed it right away so we had to pay the price even though I asked if they priced matched : no we don't do that here was the reply " don't get me wrong the salesman was really nice and polite but I feel he would have more customers if they gave that little bit off the normal price. I know for a fact that I could buy it for £29 less if I had gone through to Hamilton but we had no time to do that.
b. s.
So far the best place in Edinburgh for honest work they do. Got clothes girl downstairs is awesome. Got helmet and got bike repaired. Other places need to go there and learn how to work with honesty
E. D.
I recently bought a new Yamaha NMAX from this dealership and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Saltire demonstrates a very high level of professionalism in its customer service and after sales support. Mark Laidlaw, of the Yamaha team, was especially knowledgeable and offered personalised support regarding my purchase and part-exchange of my previous bike. Parts, servicing and future mechanical support are all offered as standard.

A one stop shop for all your motorcycling needs. Upstairs, Alba Customs features Indian, Victory and custom bikes, while downstairs covers Suzuki, Yamaha and many others. There's also a handy café serving great food, and a pool table if you fancy a game. It's also a good place to meet up before going on a run, or just to hang out and look at bikes.
The staff and customers are friendly and there's usually always some to chat to if you're at a loose end.

Excellent training school. Big thank you to Colin who helped me get my A license! 10/10!
R. K.
Massive thanks to Saltire Motorcycles, I booked my bike into Saltire after having been messed around by a previous garage and charged for work that I wasn’t sure had been done.
I asked them to check what had or hadn’t been done to my bike, after dropping the bike off Tommy the mechanic called me and explained what he was going to do and how long it would take. He then called me to say that there was no evidence of my valve clearances been done or the cam chain tensioner ever been replaced which this previous garage charged me for, the valve clearances were in spec and the cam chain tensioner only needed cleaned out.
Using saltires report and pictures that tommy took stripping my bike down I was able to get my money back from the garage!
I can’t recommend Saltire enough, thanks for helping me get my money back
D. R.
Great range of bikes and accessories. Had a mug of filter coffee and a bacon roll while waiting for 600 mile service done on my X Max 300. Well recommended
S. S.
I rented a bike through Saltire for touring Scotland. They were excellent to deal with though the whole process, their service was perfect. Would recommend them to anyone looking to do the same thing.
C. S.
Hard to find if you are not a local, a lot better than I imagined with stock on two floors. Small coffee shop inside, food was great for the price, staff very helpful. Good stock of motorcycles.
D. S.
Place looks fantastic now with so many bike to choose from.Having the clothing section separate is a great . Staff always friendly and really helpful. What a great day we had on Sunday at the Autumn Extravaganza.
q. h.
Really good experience throughout my training at Saltire . Big thanks to John who put me through my training and the rest of the team involved ! Nice clean low mileage motorcycles with heated grips for the training :)
A.
Best Motorcycle Training CBT school in Edimburgh. Also have diffrent kinds of Motorcycles which are Sports, touring, cruisers etc available here to buy.
N.
Friendly staff , nice café, and nice show room but labour charges were very high for my servicing. Had to take it to KTM so had no other options.
Chap who I dealt with was very helpful and friendly.
B. F.
Very helpful and polite. Dealt with davie buying a bike and he couldn't be more helpful, he wasn't pushy. Would definitely recommend!
D. S.
Called in short notice needed a new front tyre to continue our holiday and the fitted us in no fuss had cup of tea and bacon roll in onsite cafe and lounged around in some soft sofa's until done
D. R.
Great shop quality bikes & clothing etc but when I put my 1250 bandit in for mot & full service the indicators stayed on when switch activated. They corrected fault but it took them 48 hrs.
r. s.
I initially popped into the saltire when my brother passed his cbt and bought his 125 bike, right from the getgo the friendliness and banter the sales team and instructing team had gave me the drive to pursue 1st my cbt certificate and today I passed my mod 2!!
The training I received from the cbt right thru to the mod 1 and 2 was fantastic and I leave not only with a pass certificate but also the confidence and piece of mind that I know how to be safe on any bike.
I'd like to say a huge thank you to Nigel and marchin for giving me the one to one instruction you two are a great duo and are extremely good at your job.
Joleen you greet everyone with a cheery smile and make people feel at ease
I look forward to spending some more of my hard earned cash with you guys as well as putting my wife thru her cbt I know she will be in safe hands!!
Nigel see u soon with ur scones 😅😅
On a serious note if u want a safe friendly professional service contact the saltire these guys make u feel like family
Thanks guys see you all soon
K. B.
Proper motorcycle shop, knowledgeable staff and very helpful.
There's a cafe for refreshments and a good range of bikes for sale.

The MOTORCYCLE TRAINING guys here are second to none. Taking their responsibilites very seriously. I have no doubt that resulted in my passing the test on the 1st attempt. Their exacting standards and high expectations along with their communication skills were fantastic!
I will be recommending them at every opportunity.
Thank you so much, guys!
T. R.
Hello , I passed my big bike test here. The instructer John is was excellent. high quality and complete tuition made the entire process enjoyable. Can’t thank them enough
M. S.
Completed my CBT with Saltire Motorcycles and had a great and funny day! Everyone were extremely helpful and the instructor took the time to address my difficulties. Will be back for my DAS in a couple of months!
J. L.
This is a terrific, large, first-rate motorcycle shop. I rented a bike there for a day. Alex could not have been more helpful or nicer. A+ service. Way beyond my expectations.
G. C.
Talked (Not A lot or talking was needed) me into buying a fabulous bike that I love riding. Early days but everything is smooth and easy. Many thanks to Levi and Calum
S. M.
What can I say absolute top class and to think I was going to cancel after reading a couple of poor reviews that were on Google, just goes to show that reviews mustn’t be takin too seriously you can’t please everybody. Took my CBT at a different test centre and the comparison between them and Saltire are startling.
Nige (my instructor) is an absolute diamond I felt at ease & relaxed straight away couldn’t be happier ;) sometimes out on lessons I would think we were just out for a run. Joleen will sort out everything from paperwork, bookings etc. she is an extremely nice person and very laid back, in a nutshell the whole team were welcoming & friendly.
Also when you pass Nige will take you for lunch & pay, what more can you ask for;)
B. B.
Just went for a browse. Loads of interesting bikes and friendly staff. Alba Customs was great, amazing bikes! Well worth a visit.
T.
Passed my DAS test. Rab was the best of all instructors.
However very cold reception once you pass your test. Won't buy from here.
N. R.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff and top notch instructors.
D. M.
First class service solved my problem no bother where Honda said there was no fault with my bike starting. They said it just needed a good run to charge the battery a load of nonsense thank u saltire
G. B.
Staff friendly and very helpful large selection of bikes and accessories.
J. T.
I did my CBT at Saltire and am amazed with instructors' great teaching skills. Staff at the shop are very helpful. Highly recommended
C. D.
I 1st passed my CBT and Mod 1 several years ago, however due to personal circumstances they had both expired. I contacted Saltire in August 2015 and they were able to book me in for my CBT and then DAS.
Due to some unforeseen circumstances, the DAS was postponed until March 2016, however due to the professionalism and positive attitude of everyone at Saltire Nigel, John, Joleen & Lindsay I successfully passed my Mod 2 on my 1st attempt yesterday (Woo Hoo!).
Finally after 33 years of procrastination since I first rode a bike I can now legally ride on the road all thanks to the team at Saltire. I know look forward to many great rides ahead and meeting up with the saltire team in the future.
D. R.
I had my CBT and DAS training course with Saltire and have managed to go from pretty much no biking experience to having my full license in three weeks!
I had Freddie for my CBT, and Martine and Nigel for the DAS training and all are excellent, patient, and experienced instructors.
Would highly recommend anyone looking at learning to ride to check out Saltire Motorcycles, thanks guys!
I. C.
Incredible range of motorcycles in the shop and great riding trainers! I went for a Riding Taster session and the experience convinced me to book a CBT session

J. S.
A very large, recently refurbished, motorcycle store service centre and training centre. The workshop is located in the basement along with non-cruiser bike sales. The warehouse section has a cafe, tattoo parlour and Indian motorcycles for sale.
They are official Yamaha, Suzuki and Indian dealers but they sell many other makes in the main store on the lower level.
Their training centre is both indoor and outdoor.
D. I.
Sales were good. Parts department to busy to handle my enquiry about parts. So left and ordered elsewhere. Disappointed
P. A.
Rented A Suzuki GS bike for four days and rode all over northern Scotland this outfit was first class Alex did a great job of setting this up and make everything super simple and easy I would come back here again in a second only about 15 minutes from the airport quick transition on an Uber and you're on the bike and running also another plus only 15 minutes from downtown Edinburgh for great sightseeing a great town to ride through on your way out of town......… Can't wait to come back!
B. M.
Just done my a2 licence with marcine and Nigel guys were absolutely amazing got me through both mod1 and mod2 no problem would 100% recommend that you go to them if you need a licence couldn't have asked for better instructors thanks guys
J. F.
Staff could not have been more helpful. Amazing place. So many bikes on display. Great to have an indoor training area.
M. D.
I used saltire for my CBT and full licence training (pay as you go). Joleen booked my lessons to suit me and organised my tests with no fuss. The instructors, Marcin and Nigel were first class, they prepared me well and I passed my tests first time.
Thanks!
I. R.
Top experience so far, didn't have the bike i wanted right off the bat, but I left my details and before I'd got on the bus to go home, they called to say they'd found it for me. Can't complain at that!!!
A. J.

C. R. (.
Great service, chain came off my motorcycle and they offered to put it back on for free and also adjust it.
Since it wasn't a simple fix I had to get it completely changed which they did quickly for a reasonable price
G. B.
Always a pleasure to visit. Great staff and great deals. I've bought 5 bikes here in the last 7 years...
S.
Good shop lots of bikes to browse and the salesmen don't seem to approach unless you ask for help - which I think is a plus as at some places the salespeople can be in your face and a bit overhelpfull.
I. R.
