Reviews of Garage No.7 Motorcycles
S. Q.
Rob and the guys did a great job on my old 1971 Honda - not ridden for 30 years - I started myself but soon realised I didn't have the talent!!
Total rebuild, the team kept me up to date all the way through on spec', time and cost
I would recommend to anyone - Quality work done by real pro's
Thanks
Simon

I recently moved to Southampton and went to Garage No.7 for a bike MOT. The team were incredibly friendly and helpful.
The service was outstanding, and I will be going back there for all my bikes needs!
100% recommend!
R. M.
Rob had my Honda NSR 250 in for major works after being sat in my garage for 6 years. Wow what can I say the amount of work that he put into the bike is truly brilliant. It needed the front brakes completely re-building which was particularly challenging haha. New forks and a huge list of service and maintenance repairs. A massive amount of hours was put into restoring my bike and the finished result is superb , and just in time for summer! Would 100% recommend anyone taking their motorcycle to him he’s very knowledge and 100% trustworthy.
R. B.
I have to say Rob and his team are amazing, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and highly skilled. I gave them a 42 year old Yamaha XS1100 which had been bodged up by a previous owner. The guys rebuilt the carbs, installed new cam belt adjuster, sorted out the valves, shims and tuned the bike, then replaced 3 brake callipers plus other bits and bobs that were no good. Rob will help and advise you while you source replacement parts if you can find them cheaper. Highly recommend for anyone wishing to renovate bike.

Excellent service from the guys here, went over and above to fix my sons bike. Really knowledgeable and couldn’t have been more helpful. Hugely grateful to them and can’t recommend enough.

I'm giving these gentlemen a 5 star because I brought my Benelli adventure
motorbike in yesterday at 9am . I was hearing a buzzing sound and I asked them to look at it they did and fixed it the main center stand bolt was loose and they did not charge me for it regardless of how long it took. And I've used them before when having a Bluetooth device connected to the wiring loom and upgrade running bulbs . I have very big hands so i could not reach and they charge very reasonable for two items also the most important thing for any biker is to have a mechanic who has years of experience and is passionate about what he dose Garage No7 has that.
A. W.
I have been taking my scooters to Garage no 7 for 7 years. These guys really know what they are doing.
Lovely people to deal with, innovative on their ideas and very realistic pricing. Thanks guys!
C. M.
Big thanks to Robb for breathing some life into my Yamaha VXS 125 Dragstar with a major service. Excellent customer service, fast turnaround and a very reasonable price. Would highly recommend. Thanks again!
D. M.
The service from Garage Number 7 is second to none, buying or selling, servicing and MOT your bike, Rob and his crew give you 100% service, detail, everything!.
K. W.
I would like to pass on my thanks to all the guys at Hampshire Motorcycles.
I have been taking my Bandit 600 to Rob for nearly 4 years now and during this time I have amongst other things had an accident repair which involved replacing swinging arm, (powder coated to my spec), a fantastic brake upgrade ( front and rear with amazing Brembo's on the front), LED front light upgrade (cool as hell), fork rebuild and also a new clutch.
With regards to the clutch it was noticed that after a while it started to slip and the guys chased up the supplier and got me a new clutch at no cost to myself and replaced it (it's now spot on).
The most amazing situation though was when I decided due to the bikes age to have a valve clearance done.
Unfortunately due to the age when stripping the rocker valve it was discovered that the threads of the rocker cover bolts had corroded and threaded.
I was obviously concerned about the cost of replacing them (after price checking online I was made aware that this could be a hugely costly affair).
The guys at HMC however called me in, showed me what was going on in my engine and then took the caps off, had them machined out and using a local engineer (which I fully approve off, keep local businesses alive) had a set of custom built bolts (stainless steel so no more corroding) to fit the caps.
Going forward it's now a few months down the line and not a leak in sight, no worries and no dramas.
For a 20 yr old Bandit it runs beautifully and I couldn't be happier with what's been done.
They have kept me on the road and I can't rate them highly enough.
Bravo Gents!
Cheers,
Karl

No matter how big or small, the issue is resolved quickly. Clear and direct communication with no fuss and just results. What more do you want.
J. S.
Highly recommended! Seen some fantastic builds here! Did a fantastic job with my bike. Extremely knowledgable staff, and good communication. Always make sure you understand and you’re happy. All round great service, wouldn’t go anywhere else.
P. D.
A big thanks to Rob and the staff at Garage No7 for work on my RE Himalayan. Completed very quickly and efficiently and at a very reasonable price. Kept me informed; and really friendly guys too. Now I've found them, will definitely use in future for servicing both my Royal Enfields (and any other bike I end up with for that matter!). Well done!
e. p.
I commissioned a custom through Rob. I provided the bike, a 1978 Z400 and Rob did the rest.
Anyone who has frequented the shop in the past few years will have seen the bike, the red Z400 cafe racer.
The bike went from and ugly duckling to a thing of beauty at the hands of RH Customs. Nothing on the Z was left as was. She has been reworked down to the the smallest bolt and tiniest detail.
I was missing a few items in order to ride the bike to its new home in Norway 1200 miles away. Helmet, jacket, gloves, trousers, boots and, oh yes a lock!
I went to the front of the shop and asked Gary for help, everything I needed was provided, even when I was being difficult about a lid, Gary went to the store room and came back with a carbon fiber Roof lid that was perfect for me.
The bike drew a lot of attention whilst traveling through Europe. Everyone commented on the uniqueness and tidiness of the little racer. A few said it looked uncomfortable. I can say that after each 10 to 12 hour day of riding I was no worse for wear and woke up every day with a smile on my face knowing I had a day of riding the z racer ahead of me.
Thanks to the whole team at HMC for an amazing service, on time delivery and not least of all for staying well within my wife's budget.
S. P.
Excellent work carried out by Garage 7, cannot fault them, fan replaced and brake upgrades fitted, particular thanks to Rob for a great job
J. M.
Having used HMC for over a year, I can safely say that they're the best motorcycle garage in Southampton. Friendly and helpful staff make you feel welcome, always quick with helping you out. They really know their stuff, built some incredible bikes too!
t.
Excellent as usual, MOT test, followed by a service, very knowledgeable guys who are also happy to have a chat and show you what they're doing rather than keeping the customer out of the workshop
A. C.
Excellent service from all of the team, especially Rob the technician. He went above and beyond to carry out repairs and modification to my 535 Royal Enfield. He made some very helpful suggestions as to how to modify the bike so it would run better and save me money on future repairs. Thank you guys
k. j.
Fantastic service and very professional. I will definitely use again in the future.
P. M.
This is how garages should be! Easy to deal with, nice and knowledgable staff who know how to explain complicated things easily. Updates every few days (mine was a big job) and photos. A good experience that some bigger garage groups should take a lesson from. Thanks for restoring my BMW Guys; I will be back and recommend you onwards. Cheers, Paul
M. B.
My pannier caught fire on a hot summers day and the Himilayan got delivered to Garage 7. The following working day Rob gave me and call and took instructions for the repairs. He helped me make some parts choices and kept me updated very regularly. It was a pleasant experience all round and I would highly recommend. Cheers Rob @ Garage 7.
P. M.
I have recently used motorcyclebrakeupgrades.com as the brakes on my Honda NC31 were nearly as old as I am. Rob has answered all my dumb questions with patience and expertise. Not only have my brakes come back refurbished and painted up I also got an upgraded master cylinder and matching new brake levers all sourced by Rob at no extra cost. I wish I had more bikes just so I could send more work to this company because I have never been looked after this well. I will send as many people your way as I can. Thanks for the fantastic customer service. Ill be back. Also the turnaround was less than 2 weeks and the communication was second to none. Even when I was up trawling through ideas late at night I would invariably get a reply even when I wasnt expecting one. Fantastic. Would give more stars if I could.
A. M.
Amazing staff! So helpful and knowledgeable, fixed our carburettor when no other motorbike shop offered any knowledge on how to fix/ where to get a new one and this place went above and beyond what we could have expected! Would recommend to anyone that asks! Amazing service and amazing people!
B. V.
This is one of the best experiences I have a had at a dealer/garage. I purchased a brand new motorcycle from them and at no point did I feel pressured or stressed during the process. Extremely friendly and always keeping in contact and updating me.
I have had some bad experiences at previous dealers and garages and now my search is over. I will be using these guys for a long time to come.
Highly recommend them to anyone.
D. H.
I have been going to Garage No.7 (formally Hampshire Motorcycles, formally ATD Kawasaki) since 2007 (14 years as I write this, wow!).
In that time I have purchased from them a Suzuki SV650, GSXR 600 and my current Ninja 650.
Safe to say I have had a whole bunch of issues along the road that have been quickly diagnosed by Rob and the team here and every time it has been fixed to the most cost effective and as high standards possible.
I have never ever needed to take my bikes anywhere else as I don't believe anywhere else is good as Garage No.7.
The staff here are willing to go the extra mile for you and give it to you straight without beating around the bush that other places tend to do.
I cannot recommend this place enough. It isn't just a garage to me, it is passion, dedication and love of the bikes that makes this place stand head and shoulders above the rest.
For as long as this place exists I will always be coming back, and so should anyone who reads this review.
I will just sign off by saying, that when my SV650 broke down after a faulty Reg/Rec had cut power to my bike along Stoneham way, and they really had no cause to come help, they did and helped me get it sorted. Fantastic Customer service and assistance.
M. P.
Just a quick review to pass my gratitude to HMC (Now Garage No.7).
I had been looking for a garage to carry out some extensive work on my LO GSX-R 750 and stumbled across all the positive reviews of Hampshire Motorcycles. It was a 45 minute journey down to them but they managed to get me booked in quickly and after a phone call with Rob I felt confident it was worth the journey.
Fast forward a few weeks and I’ve just collected my bike after having the following done;
Full Yoshi Exhaust fitted.
Power Commander 5 installed with remap and dyno.
Wheels powder coated.
Front mud guard repaired and resprayed (Yes I left my disc lock on when moving the bike 😭).
Valve clearances.
Air box mods.
Front calliper upgrade.
And a few other little bits....
I’ve genuinely never experienced such great customer service , Rob updated me continually via email throughout the process and also created an online drop box with daily photo and video updates showing me the internal condition of the bike when stripped right through to it all being put back together. This alone went a very long way and it also cemented my decision that these will be my go to guys for my bikes going forwards.
The bike has been transformed and I genuinely can’t thank Rob enough. His knowledge with bikes is second to none and he went out of his way to save me money on a few things.
Thanks again Rob & Team,
Mark
A. R.
Thanks to Rob & the team for always being really helpful. Have been in and out the past few weeks slowly making changes to my Honda Rebel and they are always really polite and friendly.
They have got me an appointment last minute some times I needed it during COVID period or within the same week which is really helpful.
Highly recommend them for any bike repairs/maintenance/customisation services 👍
B. T.
The lads here helped me out a lot when my stolen bike was recovered, they let me store it there for a couple of days until I could transport it and provided me with a coffee and some friendly conversation. The mechanic was raring to get started with repairs but I had to take it to my main dealer for warranty reasons. Great bunch and I will certainly be enlisting their services for any future work I need doing. Cheers guys!
M. T.
Have taken my motorcycles here for Mot's over the last few years, simple, straightforward, and helpful, how a motorcycle shop should be! Thanks Rob and your workshop colleagues 👍🏍️
K. R.
First class service from Hampshire motorcycle centre. The guys there were very friendly and professional. Attended to my issue really quickly.
Kept me well updated throughout and carried out the work very swiftly.
Just got my bike back and it looks impeccable-No exaggeration to say like it was brand new. They have a stunning selection of bikes and gear as well. Highly recommend them. I will be returning for my annual servicing. Both the guys there were great. Thank you so much @HMC
A.
I have been using the services of Garage No.7 for many years now. Never any problems, service is always top notch and staff friendly. In summary - awesome!
D. V.
Been going for a few years now, my friends recommend them and trust them which is why I started going. They've always done a good job for me, taken bikes and mopeds in for all sorts and I'd be confident buying a bike off them too. Friendly staff, willing to chat and be honest about what needs work, also happy to talk through problems and give advice in my experience. I wouldn't go anywhere else unless I was pressed to for time and they were fully booked! There are probably cheaper garages out there but price reflects pride in work and if you respect the job they're doing you won't mind paying a little bit more to know your bike is in good hands.
A. H.
I have been bringing my bikes here for years and have never had anything but exceptional service, I've had servicing, custom work and I was once picked up at the side of the road after a crash. I won't go anywhere else.
M. M.
Big thanks to Rob and Garage 7 for another bit of solid work on my bike. He's transformed the stopping power of my front brakes - highly recommended!
G. S. F.
Gary and Rob are great guys and always very helpful with any queries and work I need doing. Very competitive prices and always made to feel welcome.
Very generous in their offers of reduced prices for NHS workers during the lockdown crisis.
Keep it up guys!
M. C.
Rob inspired me to modify and custom my 15 year old motorcycle. His passion for the project was as outstanding as the end product. It rides like a new bike and modified to my taste. Would highly recommend a service all the way through to a custom bike project.
J. H.
I dropped the bike off no problems. I put my bike through a basic service for 180 pounds all that seems to have been done was an oil change and filter the rest were checks an experienced biker could have shown me. I thought the bike would feel better smoother gear changes but it didn't. A thanks for adding a clip on the rear wheel nut by the way. But the price puts me off so next time I'll look on YouTube an do an oil change my self.
R. B.
Absolutely impeccable service. After my commuting moped was vandalised, Gary put me onto a guy called Chris to transport it to Hampshire Motorcycles workshop where within 2 hours, the damage was rectified and the moped made rideable again. All within a day of my original telephone call. How's that for service? Cheers Gary and Rob.
D. H.
Rob and the guys here were excellent. Managed to fit the top box to the bike bike in under an hour and great pricing. Will definitely be bringing my bike back here for servicing.
S. C.
I've been using these guys for the past four months or so from the start of my motorcycling when they arranged my CBT for me, fixed me up with a bike and starter gear, all at a great price. When I moved on to a bigger bike, they were very friendly and very un-biased with advice, even though I wasn't buying the bigger bike from them at the time.
The staff are always all very friendly and willing to go the extra mile for better service than anywhere else I've been to, and always have fantastic prices for servicing too, as well as being very quick to order new parts for my bike. I also never have to wait very long for servicing, and I would certainly not hesitate to recommend these guys to anyone else!
J. L.
Saved my beloved bike
My poor himalayan almost seized its engine and these guys rebuilt the bike to better than new
The feedback and response time was fast and the pictures really helped, and they even fixed things I hadnt asked for that would have caused me issues further down the line
Highly Reccomended
R. P.
These guys are the most helpful bike people in Southampton. Used them for my last Yamaha, and they have helped with advice for my new speed triple (bought as cat d) that I am repairing myself. They helped with questions etc and even fitted a part to the bottom yoke for me. This was going to be for free but I insisted they took £20 to cover the work. Absolute legends and I will NEVER use another bike shop again. Top marks!!!!!!
B. F.
Great bunch of honest lads that go the extra mile. Treat the bikes well and make sure everything is spot on. Aftercare is also brilliant as I had a call the following day to make sure I was happy with the work carried out. Will use again and highly recommend them👍
J. E.
Highly recommend these guy's, been using them for the last 6 year's.
Rob is a genius, Stuart & Gary are always very welcoming, friendly & knowledgeable & able to offer good advice.
All in all top bunch of guys providing a great service 👍
B. F.
The guys at HMC did a great job on my scooter and made sure I had it back promptly despite it being in over the Easter break. They were both courteous and professional and I recommend them wholeheartedly.
D. B.
Hampshire Motorcycle Centre have been servicing and working on my bike for the past two years. This July me and my girlfriend traveled to Switzerland on the bike. Before I went I got it serviced. The bike rode like a dream, it never missed a beat and it gave us the confidence it keep riding to new places. We had the trip of a life time. Being confident in the reliability is crucial and the work they did preparing the bike was fantastic. Highly recommended
J. G.
I’ve known the boys down Hampshire motorcycles for a while and used them many many many times. And every time the boys do the job as quick as they can and amazingly just had my chain sprocket done and the boys always give the best service! Keep up the great work boys!!!
d. j.
Just picked my Bandit 1200 from the guys at Hampshire Motorcycle Centre. After way too many years off the road, their work was fantastic, efficient and very quick, their attention to detail and feed back to me with updates on work required was first class
Thank you guys.
E. M.
A professional and approachable centre. Being a female motorcyclist I am always concerned that I'll be treated differently in a stereotypical way but these guys and gals are great. Highly recommend. Gary is particularly good company!
J. 1.
I recently took my bike to have the rear brake fixed and to enquire about some other repairs. Stuart and Matt were both friendly and very helpful. Great service and i will recomend them to anyone i know that doesn't already go there
M.
Looked after my ZZR very well, Rob called to update me frequently and was happy to chat, sharing findings & knowledge with me. Warmed my bike up on collection too - great service, thanks guys! See you again.
K. P.
I have used hampshire motorcycle centre for years now to MOT my many bikes, great service from Pete at the back who wizz the bikes through their MOT's in a very pragmatic way and of course Gary who always gives a friendly service. I can't recommend these guys enough!
R. S.
These guys are great..they Did my clutch and after it wasn't quite right..so they carried on until it was right. Really helpful and polite. Also if your lucky get the use of the little ER6 loan bike..
A. G.
I used Hampshire Motorcycles to have my valve clearances done. Overall the work was done to a high standard where it counted and the engine feels as it should, so thank you guys, you saved me a lot of fiddly work. There were however a couple of niggling things I noticed; firstly, the drain tube from the throttle bodies fell to the ground when I got off the motorcycle 2 miles from the shop, it hadn't been secured properly and was fiddly to re-attach once home. Secondly, I have auxiliary spotlights on the motorcycle, these were both operable when the motorcycle went in yet coming out one wasn't working and it looks like the wiring for the positive terminal had been snagged, granted my wiring is messy but it was no less functional for it and the lights had done a winter's commute without issue. Thirdly, the motorcycle was very low on coolant- the reservoir was empty, this may have been my oversight taking the motorcycle in, however, I was surprised that the technician hadn't noticed, topped it up and charged me duly, that said I did ask specifically only to have the clearances done so fair enough if that's why it was left. The final thing is very very minor and not a big deal; my keys were handed back minus a small wemoto loop key ring, I assume perhaps the technician or a member of staff needed it removed or something. All in, it did leave me feeling that the technician perhaps wasn't as attentive as one could have been but as I said, where it really counted, a good job was done and I would use the shop again for work. Customer service is also great too, when I first rang they were very helpful and accommodating.
M. M.
Fitted some progressive springs to the front forks on my Royal Enfield Classic C5. The original end caps were stuck fast with corrosion; Hmc machined these off and custom made some new ones. I am really pleased with the result and bike feels much more planted now.
A. J.
First time customer. Great bunch of guys who really know their stuff. Great comms and reasonably priced.
M. C.
MOT Sorted, firm but fair, my neck at end of day.
Helpful staff.
S. W.
A true professional motorcycle mechanic, I had an engine strip and rebuild. Would recommend these guys to anyone. Top service.
T. F.
Great service for my Triumph Tiger every year. MOT, service, new tyres, brake pads and retest for £500, well done guys.
b. J.
they are great guys. helped me out a lot when i fell off and damaged my bike. getting it back on the road as quick as they could. could not give enough praise.
K. B.
Needed new brake pads didnt have them in stock but they ordered them in they arrived in about an hour and half for me to pick up and they were no dearer than if i bought online
Great service will use them again
N. M.
Fantastic place! Genuine bike enthusiasts, which really shows. Gave my ZZR a thorough service, sorted a respray, stayed in contact throughout. Couldn't fault them!
F. C.
The stuff are very knowledgeable about the equipment they sell and stock and are very helpful They don't stock a lot But can get most things next day if not 2 days later I have had my motorbike serviced and mot there for the last 3 years-and found they have been very good and reasonably priced
A. M.
Called on the off chance they would have an MOT slot ....
I’d never used the company before and they did not know me as a customer but the service was excellent
The chap on the phone said that even though they were very busy run the bike down and they would fit me in
Good to their word fitted the bike in for her MOT and gave great friendly service even taking the time to show me several of their 80’s bikes as we shared biking memories while I waited
A quality local company that clearly values all customers highly recommended
M. T.
After an attempted theft and damage on my motorbike, HMC picked it up the same day and managed to repair the damage in a cost effective and timely manner. Knowledgable and friendly team :)
A. H.
I didn't hold out any hope of getting my scooter fixed but these guys went above and beyond to help me resolve the problem rather than palm me off with a cheap temporary solution.
I'd definitely reccomend these guys and I will be using them again if I have any more problems.
D. N.
Superb service from Hampshire motorcycles Southampton, got me out of a jam with an oil leaking Enfield,( Not supplied by them), picked my bike up from Portsmouth just before Easter bank hols, repaired and back to me one day after bank holiday, very friendly proffesional people, highly recommended, Dave, Portsmouth.
M. M.
These guys are amazing they have always helped me when I am in a jam (including the day my bike died when I was moving house) and been really caring and helpful I ended up buying a new bike with them and they have been nothing but a pleasure every time I have come in thanks again guys
G. F.
Yet again these guys went above and beyond any service you would expect to receive from a motorcycle shop I took my bike in for new tyres last Monday and whilst they were being changed they notice that my calliper bolts we're knackered so they replaced them for me I rode away a very happy customer again as my luck goes two days later my bike broke down with what I thought was an alarm problem I phoned the shop and 10 minutes before closing time but instead of saying sorry were just closing they asked where I was and came and recovered my bike got it back to the workshop and by 11am the next day was back riding my bike completely fixed I know I said this before but you really dont get this sort of service anymore or the piece of mind you get when your riding your bike away after knowing that Hampshire motorcycles have carried out the work on your pride and joy
Thanks to Stuart rob and the rest of the HMC team
J. C.
I picked up my new bike today.the staff in the shop were very helpful, and spent plenty of time, talking about the bike, servicing schedules ect, and answered all the questions I had, which always gives you confidence in the people you are dealing with, PS thanks for the coffee, while I was waiting for the heavy rain to stop, and enjoy the rolling stones concert tonight, at st marys stadium.
