Super knowledgeable guy is Alan. Sent my bike in to have valve clearences checked and query a carb. Clearences were in spec, he found 2 issues with my carbs and then checked over the rest of the bike which needed some things tweaking. Dyno'd the bike once everything was done. It now rides so much better! Thanks Alan. Will certainly be using your services again when I need servicing/Mot doing.

Had an issue with my bike and spent about 2 weeks waiting for another mechanic. Emailed Alan one evening instant response, Bike was fixed within 3 days off it being collected. Absolutely outstanding service, Brilliant customer service and he really knows his stuff. Definitely recommended!

Alan is spot on and knows his stuff. Super friendly guy who's not about taking money and doing half a job for a quick turn around. Good old fashioned; if a jobs worth doing, do it right. Great prices for a top job. Had bad experiences with other garages round York that don't give a crap about your bike, Alan takes good care of your machine and understands what a customers bike means to them. Great service, always willing to give excellent advise, will be the only garage I use from now on. Cheers Alan.

I never usually do reviews, however Alan went above and beyond in customer service, honesty and value. Fixed my partners moped in no time at all! She is a key NHS worker and needed to be back on the road to travel to and from work in order to help with the ongoing situation we all face. Ive personally known him for 30 years and has always been all to ready to help with anything his wealth of knowledge, experience and advice is invaluable. Mechanically he is a whizz and he will do you the best job possible without costing you an arm and a leg. 110%. Alan keeps both mine and my husbands bike in perfect condition.

The AA dropped my broken down Honda Blackbird off at Alan's workshop. A new clutch was required and fitted and Alan had to source and buy and fit replacement fuel injectors. The bike is now running very efficiently and I am delighted with the work and service he carried out on my bike. I would not hesitate in using Alan again and highly recommend his work. Alan is the most professional and knowledgable mechanic you will ever meet. He is also one of the most good natured and friendly blokes you will ever meet. He is one of the last of Yorks 'old school' mechanics, and has spent all his working life coming up through the garages of York. He will diagnose your problem immediately and repair your bike quickly. He is a biker above all else, not just a buisness man, and clearly loves his work. You get the impression that if he didn't need the money, (and deserve it for a job well done) that he would help you anyway, as a fellow biker. He represents a comradary which used to exist between Bikers, which is sadly dissapearing. He will charge you only what the job costs and no more. Your bill will be detailed and every minute and part explained and accounted for. I have been to other garages and 'workshops' in York with bigger premises, fancy websites etc and consistently my lack of mechanical knowledge has been exploited. Alan takes a different approach. His business model puts the customer and their confidence first, before the transaction. He will demystify the repairs by giving you advice most mechanics would charge for, and encorage you to get to know your machine better. Do not go anywhere else. Develop an on going service relationship, as you would with your Doctor or dentist. You will be a happier more confident biker, and that, quite simply, is priceless.

I've known Al for ages and he's the only person I trust to work on my bike. He's had all sorts of training on modern bikes; he has all the latest diagnostics etc, but what sets him apart is his old fashioned engineering approach - if you have a problem outwith what your average techie can deal with, it's probably worth talking to Al. I've had my new bike serviced by a main dealer, then taken it to him to do the stuff they missed! Don't be put off by the location, plan ahead and he'll probably give you a lift back into York.
