Went to see Big Tom Jones yesterday and he was fabulous! It was a really nice venue too, just the right size for the gig, not too crowded and great facilities too! Good when you get out you are pretty much back in town!
L. S.
The bright nights for the Christmas lights were very good. Holiday music played and the walk around took about 40 minutes to see it all.
A. M.
Lovely place for a gentle walk. Plenty to see in the Ulster Museum, palm house and tropical ravine.
H. B.
Beautiful! The flowers were so pretty and the scent! We spent an afternoon walking around enjoying the sunshine and spring flowers. The Ravine is a cool place lots of ferns.
L. A. M. G.
Fantastic park was there for bright lights in botanic but its beautiful for a wee walk any time of year especially summer when the flowers are in bloom. museum on site as well as a tropical flower garden
S. S.
The flowers are beautiful here when in bloom. Nice little park to sit in for a coffee or a quick lunch when the weather is nice. Small little park which you can walk around fully in about 10 mins.
Z. S.
Lovely for a stroll when the weather is nice also a creepy fun fact about this place is that if the slightest sun ray hit the park in the summer out of nowhere an ice cream truck shows up and there will be a line up of people ready to buy ice cream! The speed at which this happens makes it creepy!
T. T. C.
Lovely parkland which houses the Ulster Museum, the Tropical Ravine and the Palm House. The Tropical Ravine and Palm House seem to be closed at the minute probably due to COVID. The museum has a cafe, shop and toilets which are accessible but the museum itself requires booking a free ticket due to covid. The park is getting ready for Christmas with light displays being installed. The bandstand area is currently closed as a result. Up towards the back of the museum is the Japanese gardens.
H. C.
Lots to see, the perfect place for a gentle walk and a little exploring. Definitely worth visiting if you find yourself in Belfast
S.
Beautifully maintained botanical garden with amazing greenhouses. Very photogenic sceneries!
B.
The trees and plants are beautiful. The rose garden is amazing. Absolutely loved it
l. k.
Lovely well kept gardens with different areas of interest. Enjoyed the photographic exhibition displays within the grounds.

A Beautiful and well maintained garden in the middle of Belfast with roses, perennials, shrubs, trees and so much more.FREE ENTRY.
Lovely to walk around and relax in. Unfortunately the tropical greenhouses are closed due to covid last few months.
Rose garden is beautiful when in full bloom. The palm house is super and has a range of different plants that live there all year round .A great spot to chill with friends in the better weather & close to botanic shops.
A large panoramic wheel offers a birds eye view of Belfast within the grounds, great entertainment for children and an ice shop located near to the wheel.
TIP:Make sure to check and pick a dry & sunny day to get the most out of it.
Also plan to visit Ulster museum as both are in same grounds.

It's really wonderful garden. There were many stunning places there. I enjoyed the views, and the garden is huge and it's for those who like calm.

Botanic gardens is a place to go to for summer definitely! It’s enjoyable to have a picnic and gather around with your mates! If you are a tourist, this is the place you should go to! There are restaurants and cafe around, the ulster museum and you can also walk around the Queen’s university.
M. C. B.
Fabulous peaceful garden. The roses are in full bloom and they smell terrific. We picked the right day as it's dry and some sun.
P. l.
Lovely location for a short walk or just sit in the sun for a few hours. Lots of vibrant flowers only starting to come round but in the summer it should be a more colourful and relaxing experience, only shame I couldn’t spend more time there, though if you’re in Belfast it’s a must to check it out.
C. E. B.
I honestly never get bored of walking around these gardens, no matter the time of year! There's places to sit, places to head inside if you're curious to look & learn, or looking a sit down and a warm!
It's a favourite with my little son, plenty of grass to run about, and so many beautiful flowers!
G. D.
One of the best places to visit in Belfast for sure. A tropical rain forest is so well prepared and maintained to know the ecosystem of rain forest. Many amazing species of plants.
Besides, there is very old plam house which proves the history of botanic garden.
Ofcourse, the Ulster museum is a treat to visit as well.
The tropical enclosure and the palm house are open now post Covid. One can take a visit. It's wonderful experience.
I.
Beautiful place to visit all year round
E. S.
Unfortunately the conservatory is closed probably due to covid but there's a nice exhibition around the park for Xmas, also the museum is located on the same grounds.
M. V.
Nice place , not fully opened, can enjoy as park. Rose garden is a bit to late to enjoy , but still smells beautiful .

Maintained really well. Rose garden is beautiful when in full bloom. The palm house is lovely and has a range of different plants that live there all year round but also plants are on show for awhile from different palm houses or botanical gardens. A great spot to chill with friends in the better weather & close to botanic shops
G. A.
Lovely park right by the Museum and glasshouse. A real treat
B. N.
I saw The National here, (my third time seeing them) and it was such a beautiful night! It’s also a stunning place to have a walk around in.
S. G.
Very beautiful and pleasant place.. Could spend the day here exploring it. Huge variety of plants and shurbs.. Highly recommended on a lovely sunny day with a picnic.
C. T.
Really liked the beautiful flowers that they have planted all over the place,it's maintained and landscaped.
S. H.
Nice garden but small campus compared to other botanical gardens I have seen. A glass house offers free entry but closes earlier- like 5 PM. Glass house offers lots of flowers, cactus and other plant samples.
Other than this nothing very unique about the gardens- stages/venues available for performance. Few food/ice cream trucks can be found. Good place to relax.
J. W.
Such a lovely place, we came all the way from Cardiff to see Tom Jones there. The place nor him disappointed, great venue and very organised.
J. H.
Very busy considering we're still in a lockdown. But the gardens are well kept and the place is clean and tidy. Would recommend going in the morning as it may be quieter. It is also being policed atm which is good.
P. N.
The outdoors section is small compared to most botanical gardens, and is more like a big cute park for a walk. Very nice rose garden!
The real show stopper is the old greenhouse. Big, very pretty. Perfect if it starts to rain.
Best of all, it was free!
S. O.
An absolutely beautiful and serene garden. It was a really peaceful place to walk around and contemplate the absolute beauty of this city.
If you are visiting Belfast, or if you are a longtime native, I highly recommend a visit... A bit of nature in the concrete jungle never hurt anybody...
D. K.
this is a fabulous place to take the family. Our take a book an sit quietly an read. some beautiful walks indoor garden an outdoir park areas. If it's a wet day you can spend hours walking around the museum.
D. S.
Pure class - what an experience!
N. J.
Medium sized Botanic Garden with some delightful areas in the Queen's Quarter (University of Belfast).
Getting there - Botanic Train Station, Bus, Hop On/Off Buses, walk...
Free entry.
Opening - see their website.
Accessibility - good.
Food - cafe/restaurant in the museum and surrounding streets
Toilets - in the grounds, but I used the ones in the adjoining museum that includes toilets for the Disabled.
J. C.
It is a must go if you visit to Belfast.(Don't miss it.) The only one set back if the manage can put the information about the closure of the palm house in Google map it will be even better.
M.
Really blissful ..you can have a good walk here.
of course when the weather is good..
You can see a wide variety of flowers.. well maintained.
The Ulster museum at one corner for the park is definitely worth a visit...& there is no entry fee.
E. S.
Beautiful park for walks with the museum entrance in the park for all to enjoy.
The glass house is also worth a visit along with the hot house
A. M.
Beautiful space to stroll amongst the rose garden and the temperate palm house, very relaxing way to spend a couple of hours in Belfast !
J. N.
A truly amazing opportunity to visit this garden. Me and my girlfriend were greatly surprised by the variety of plants that can be found in there. Great collection of roses as well as other plants in the greenhouse of botanic gardens. Suitable for sunbathing (if the weather don't spoil the sky) or simply just chilling with friends. Would recommend for everyone who wants to see some really casually unseen stuff and much more than that.
V. O.
There is Belfast and all its wonders. And there is that moment when you step away from the hustle and bustle of the vibrant city, you disappear for a while in the warm colours of the Botanic Garden's hidden treasures. You take a wander around different exotic flowers and plants. You enjoy the peace and quiet.
T. K.
Great place, find a nice spot on a sunny morning and chill, flowers are at its best even do the greenhouse is closed.
A. G.
Beautiful place and very much well maintained gardens and flowers some lovely colours
D. F.
Wonderful gardens, and amazing hot houses. Beautifully set out. And with the Ulster Museum on the grounds. Amazing. All lovers of plant life, and Creation in general will enjoy time spent here.
Z. S.
Although it's winter right now, we were able to enjoy the warmth inside the Palm House, the Temperate Zone and the Tropical Zone.. Speaking as a person from the Philippines, the warmth inside the Tropical Zone really feels like home! The plants are well kept that's why they are thriving really well. Good job on the idea, people are able to get a bit of experience on how it is and what are the plants that grow in the tropics.
F. N.
Exceptional park with a lot to offer. I really loved the rosarium, which had some special roses on display. But the greenhouse was also very nice to look out. The plants in the greenhouse also looked like they were cared for well.
R. G.
Great Park lovely surroundings and it's Maintained and kept very clean. Can relax and enjoy the day walking or just chilling in it with mates.
R. P.
Very nice. Big and great walks. Fairly busy.
Only toilets i saw were closed. Plenty of places to eat nearby and shops.
S. C.
Great for a stroll, hanging out with friends and people watching! Lovely garden displays and if you're lucky you'll catch a glimpse of the squirrels
K. R.
Had a lovely time looking at the exhibition here. Food was great too.
K. W.
Absolutely recommend a visit to the National Botanic Gardens in Dublin. They also offer tours for €5 which was well worth it.
A. O.
Simply beautiful. I love walking my dog here. Lots of sights and a great ferris wheel!
D. H.
Cute little park. The greenhouse was closed when I was there. However the Ulster museum is in the grounds. Greenhouse could do with a few new glass panels.
I. D.
Fantastic experience for the whole family. Images supplied by Priory Photography NI.
P. -.
Well worth a visit Beautiful area with historic glass house and host seasonal events Inc Christmas Lights event.
M. B.
Nice garden, a lot of a variety of flowers, a lot of places to walk.
P. M. H.
Public place having free access. Those who love Roses this is the place to visit, as you can see so many varieties of them. Lots of places to sit back and relax and to have your own food. Large spectrum of plants from cactus to Asian and other verities. Nice place to visit and spend around one hour.
K. T.
Great little oasis away from the hustle and bustle of Stranmillis, Botanic Ave & Queens. Park very well maintained, existing white greenhouse and new tropical greenhouse are definitely worth a visit. Nice place to come and chill out any time of the year. There always seems to be something going on in the park, kids events etc.
T.
Beautiful park for a stroll with so many beautiful plants and flowers to see.
T. M.
Great place has a museum fun for all play ground for kids and beautiful gardens
C. v. N.
Well worth a visit. We stopped on our way to Wexford. The boys enjoyed it and we loved seeing all the different flowers and plants. Our favourite was the tropical green house.
J. C.
Great place to explore with families. Plenty of plants / trees / vines and some interactive displays. Information panels around the sides to give the history of the collection.
Free entrance, a few mins walk from the road and nicely warm inside (it's humid!)
J. W.
Nice tranquil place. Rose garden excellent (in season) and wild flower areas so beautiful. Glass house and tropical ravine both really good. All free!
S. J.
Closed due covid when we went but the gardens were lovely.
R. S.
Great picnic spot in Belfast Maintained by Belfast City Council. Palm house is where different countries flowers are maintained with different temperatures . Good to spend weekend on this fab place
A. A.
Great place for a day out with family, especially on a sunny day. Wonder if they will open the greenhouse again looks amazing.
A. W.
I love walking around the gardens when in this area of Belfast. Great place for a quiet alfresco coffee on a dry day.
R. S.
Ravine open but other glasshouse closed
Few artist painting flowers, impressive, loads of fish in pool, very relaxing to watch out of rain
A. S.
Great Rose garden, wonderful area to just sit out and enjoy the weather. Highly recommend for a relaxing place! The tropical greenhouses close at 5:00 most days.
M. M.
Ice cream+long walk after museum visit perfect Sunday afternoon.
K. W.
Natural and nice place. Sooooo green and make me have a good mood! It is a cool place to hangout with friends or family. Why not grab something and sit on grass to enjoy the nice view!
J.
We walked through the gardens. Beautiful green space. Lovely palm house and temperate zone. Recommended
A. K.
It's is completely safe, with a large field to run or lie in! Friendly place to all! It's a very peaceful and calming place. The Rose Garden is very soothing to the eyes. And if you love nature and photography this is the place to be in. The Botanical Gardens is kept tidy and beautiful with different array of various plants and flowers.
C. S.
Lovely gardens in the city centre. The kids love the tropical Ravine and looking at the banana trees and learning about the types of leaves that dinosaurs used to eat. A great spot to come to in the summer for a picnic.
S. H.
Well kept garden that's good to walk round if the weather is nice! Entrance to the Palm house is free and worth doing. The public toilets were closed when we visited and there's no cafe, however it's right next to Ulster Museum which has free entrance to the cafe and toilets and serves very good cake!
A. R.
Lovely spot for a relaxing afternoon. Right next to the museum and university. Also very close to several cafes and restraints. It is important to note that the gardens close with the sunset so close significantly earlier in the winter.
A. C.
Great floral displays in the rose gardens and the palm houses. Lots of space to sit and watch others go by.
s. c.
Palm garden has no flower at all, but the outdoor garden is blossom, especially the rose garden, that's truly wonderful
J. D.
Free. Well maintained, strikingly beautiful flower beds, specimen trees, open areas - plus the glass houses and fernery if you need a quick warm up and dry. Popular with locals and tourists.
Grab a coffee and cake in the adjacent [free, excellent] Ulster museum.
I. S.
Well worth a visit. Some lovely flowerbeds so well kept. There is always a nice range of exotic plants and cacti in the glasshouse. Don't forget to visit the tropical ravine opposite it's been recently renovated. Then there's the Ulster Museum here also no problem spending a day here. Enjoy
J. H.
Lovely spot in South Belfast just up from Queens. Lots of space for the kids to run about and a playground near Queens Sport to boot (on the Annadale side).
L. G.
Its a bit small buuuuut very nice and you can take very beautiful pictures.
When I went was a guys filming a video they sing and dance very funny. Next to this places there's a queen's university
F. P. C.
Although there are some plants, they don’t have many flowers. 💐 And the botanic garden is not very big but if you are in Belfast, it worths going there.
C.
Very nice park well kept and with a lot of plants to see.
P. A.
Beautiful shared space in University Area of Belfast. Lots of family friendly events throughout the year. Access to Ulster Museum and Tropical gardens via the park..both free to visit.
A. P.
Depends which season you check this place out and what is in bloom, I unfortunately was there during the off season. I believe that this place would be much more beautiful during the warmer months-but still definitely worth a visit on a nice day as it is free!
P. S.
Lovely place to visit, nice walk round it and see all that's inside to.
M. L.
Such vast space near the university. Palm greenhouse not open yet March 22nd as COVID restrictions. Must place to visit.
J. S.
Great place for everyday walk as well as Sunday time. Autumn Fair 2019 in Botanic Gardens was AMAZING👍
i. x.
Not that big a botanic garden, nor is it amazing. It was okay. Sucks that the main tree infront of the building is tilted over, but it was still a nice place to visit.
M. N.
I enjoyed waking around and sitting in the rose garden.
M. H.
For a council run park, the Botanic Gardens retains lots of original features. Wonderful palm house, seasonal displays, rose garden and herbaceous borders. Well worth visiting.
E. H.
Lovely place to walk around and very interesting. Loved the tropical ravine. Worth a visit.
J. P.
Beautiful place n feel like I am in heaven. Nice voices listen of birds
N.
These gardens are beautiful in all seasons. They also are home to a tropical ravine, Victorian flower house, rose gardens and the Ulster museum. You could spend hours here.
n. H.

A.
Very pleasant to walk around, with lots of good places to stop and eat nearby.
K. M. C.
Beautiful place but you really need to have the weather on your side. Museum is a must. Changed so much from I was a young girl. My children loved it. 🤗🤗
M. k.
A little piece of paradise snuggled within walking distance of most things worth seeing.
D. R.
I loved to hangout here, esp in spring. Flowers are changing every season. It’s the place where I just sit for a while before going back home after finishing some writing on my dissertation
P. V. B.
Good place with various kinds of flowers and huge garden ..best place for weekend outings for friends and family..
N. Y.
Really huge exhibition, lots of variaty, most important it's free and open to any donation. You learn a lot about the history. I really recommend this place. Also lockers (1€). Only downside is that it's not hipster proof. It has not anything interactive, it's just a classic museum where you can see stuff, without any extra's.
R. H.
After touring around, we finally found a relaxing spot! A great place for a walk and to discover different plants. A small cafe and an ice cream truck around.
V. B.
Gorgeous walk and enjoyable to explore. I'd love to come back in summer while everything is in bloom.
F. S.
It was really nice to walk to the botanic gardens. There are plenty of cool shops leading to the gardens. It's a nice place, really relaxing. It's not crowded and the kids can run free. Due to covid a few exhibitions were closed but you can still enjoy the fresh air of the park. Loads of vendors selling ice cream, coffee and whatnot. Seriously you gotta check it out.
A. O.
Trash sculpture was a bit of a let down in such a pretty garden. Respect to the sculptures but not a pretty sight to see.
D. M.
Nice park with wide selection of flowers and plants. Also good amount of space to run. Play park down by leisure centre too.
V. K.
Wonderful place, so many beautiful plants to see, from tomatoes to the jungle simulation. I would surely visit it again.
J. S.
I am no gardener, but this is a fabulous place to have a stroll around. You quickly forget that you are in a busy city.
E. O. -. O.
Not all buildings were open but garden is big enough to enjoy it
c. o. r.
Excellent place to while away a few wee hours. Be it strolling with your significant other, connecting with nature or getting the kids out of the house there is something for everyone here. Only complaint is while there is an on-site coffee shop there was no seating inside or otherwise available yet this is no problem there is plenty of alternatives nearby. Really enjoyed would recommend to a friend.
P. J.
Nice park, well-kept. You can enter for free in the greenhouses, must do!
S. E.
Belfast's Botanic Gardens is a 28-acre public park near Queens University, housing the Ulster Museum, the Palm House and many varieties of trees and plants.

Small, but very cosy. I wish the greenhouses were open.

j. b.
Long time since I'd been. Great species. Worth a visit.
J. H.
Serene walk through the gardens. The greenhouse was closed but the walk is nice.
M. C.
Quite small and very ordinary for a Botanic Garden. The palm house was closed which was a shame. Apart from that nothing of much interest to see.
T. L.
It's a lovely retreat, visit the beautifully restored fern house for a break from the cold.
D. J.
It's free!
D. O.
Nice ambiance. Lovely flowers with great aroma
M. B.
Really beautiful, with a nice little story. Just saw some shady characters....
P. B.
Fab Park to walk the dog 😎
R. L.
Lovely flowers this time of year
P.
Always worth a visit, rain or shine, if you are traveling to Belfast (south), please visit it , it's hard to miss if you are going to the Ulster Museum, which is free, and maybe a donation. I believe the Victorian gardens are closed on my fairly recent visit there, so be prepared for disappointment, always nice to be prepared alas..but Ulster Museum definitely open.
G. L. (.
Always a tidy park. Would be nice if there were more activities for children.
R.
I loved exploring this magnificent beauty and capturing the true beauty of art
p. w.
Looked good but closed at 16.00 so couldn't get in..
M. R.
Lovely, peaceful & relaxing gardens, worth a visit.
s. v.
Well maintained, beautiful park! Excellent place for relaxing and enjoying nature!
T. B.
Loved all the variety, history and beauty here. Quite a Treasure to experience!
L. M.
The lights were really good. Not great value for your money. It was £20 per adult don't think it was worth it.
A.
Absolutely stunning gardens!
A definite must see on any visitors in Belfast.
There is plenty of well maintained grass to have a picnic on or relax with a book.
Sadly the greenhouses were closed at the time of my visit, due to covid, however I intend to return for a second visit once the park has fully reopened.
The park could do with more staff walking the grounds, as I saw a lot of dog mess left by careless owners and some litter.
However, I did visit on a busy sunny day so perhaps this isn't a common thing.
J. B.
Very pleasant and relaxing atmosphere in the gardens
G. G.
One of the best places of Belfast to spend your leisure time.
M. B.
I love walking in Botanic Gardens every day. Today I met a beautiful Bride and her Groom. Made my day.
T. B.
This was such a beautiful garden even in February! You must visit while you are here.
D. H.
Lovely place, lights were amazing. Nice and calm. Thankfully not raining
S. K.
Botanic Gardens Belfast is small but quiet and very peaceful. It seems to be in the middle of the city but there are no city noises to distract. We had a lovely walk in the sunshine and could have got coffee or ice creams from a take away van. The only thing against is parking can be hard to find in the vicinity and there is currently some restrictions within the park due to covid so if you want to see something in particular, the Hothouse for example, check in advance as this was closed.
B. M.
I have seen nicer gardens. Green House closed very disappointed
M. S.
lights in Xmas time are good but way expensive ticket. It's good for children.
Ticket price : 20 pound.
F. K.

Lovely to walk around very well maintained gardens. Had some great photos on the hen party

Superb well maintained park, lots of park benches, palm house closed due to covid. Toilets although open were in a terrible state, unfortunately some people don't care. More regular checks possibly required especially during summer months.

Its a nice and relaxing place. A part of the garden is adjacent to Ulster Museums and one end is adjacent to Queens University Belfast

Winter Wonderland @Botanicgardens
r. j.
Interesting for both horticultural and casual visitors
c. b.
We visited after the museum, the gardens are OK. Nothing spectacular, although they are well kept and always in bloom... the palm house and tropical Ravine are situated here too though it takes just a few minutes to walk through both and not much to keep younger children interested if out as a family
J. b.
Well taken care. Nice place to calm down.
m. k.
Beautiful day to enjoy the botanical gardens, the colours and fragrances of flowers were amazing, some closed in areas closed due to covid restrictions but we'll worth a going for a relaxing walk and to view the flowers on display
S. R. D.
Always a beautiful experience when at the museum to visit the exotic flowers in Botanic
L.
The botanic gardens are beautiful! Very well kept. I enjoyed the greenhouses too, such a variety of lovely plants. I can tell a lot of care goes in to looking after them. I wish there were some animals in the tropical house. Nice for an afternoon stroll.
R. R.
I am bit disappointed because the Tropical Ravine is close, outside you will see a small variety of plants, the roses have a subtle fragrance.
R. Z.
I don't even think there is anything to not like about this place. Sure, i would have liked it open 24/7 but i can understand why it isn't. Great place overall.

M. H.
Well worth a visit.
S. D.
A great place for recreation!
M. M. M.
I'm a big fan of the gardens during the summer months. It's such a peaceful area where lots of people congregate to bathe in the sun and visit the free museum and glass House which is also very educational. There's also a nice cafe and during the summer months an ice cream van sits parked. It's not unlikely that there'll be some local business supplying free samples to drum up custom - last year I got numerous types of slush puppy and lots of coupons for things! All in all you cannot go wrong with a day trip here and it's also great to see some topless men lying around!
R. M.
Lovely place to go for a walk
S. R.
Summer is the best month to visit any local garden. When u feel heat inside, you should go out in between the trees and get fresh air. The Botanic Garden is a place where you feel peace. Its a great place for workers in the area as they go to have their lunch there. Go and enjoy with friends, family.
M. S.
Nice 😁
I.
It's beautiful and serene. A lovely place to sit and read
J. J.
Beautiful place to visit anytime of year come rain or shine, very popular in the summer months with different international events held. Victorian tropical gardens two of. Very peaceful. If your visiting Belfast certainly worth a visit and close to the ulster museum which is free admission and is by itself worth a visit. Enjoy.

Beautiful they have done a amazing job on the refurbishments

Brilliant . .Tom Jones is playing ...
A. T.
I'm glad we went to the Botanic Gardens on our visit to Belfast but with the greenhouse closed the we only enjoyed the roses - which were in much better condition than the ones we recently saw at Kew Gardens. If there wasn't the downpour we may have had lunch in the gardens, but otherwise it was a fairly swift visit.
K. m. c.
Beautiful in summer even when it rains.
V. V.
Enjoyed family time meaningfully
T. K.
This is a super awesome little green house garden with tropical plants and temperatures that make you feel like your walking through a Caribbean rain forest. Totally worth a walk around. The surrounding larger gardens are awesome too, lots to see and all very well kept.
r. c.
Very nice gardens pity the tropical ravine wasn't open on Mondays but I'll be back to go to that.
A. W.
Always a nice walk around here
r. r.
One of the nicest places to visit when its sunny have a ice cream van that sits in the grounds
J. M.
Beautiful place to walk around if the weather permitting, but can be busy at lunch times
J. H.
Such a calming and romantic place 😍
T. Y.
Nice spot for a leisurely walk. Particularly like the rose gardens . Also offers plenty of paths, open spaces, access to the Ulster Museum and the Tropical Ravine.
C. W.
I love this place. Right in the heart of the university quarter of Belfast with big open spaces, a beautiful rose gardens, two hot houses and the magnificent Ulster Museum in the grounds.
Look out for various 'boutique' festivals and in the Autumn the Autumn Fayre which features a flower and produce show with echoes of The Archers! Parking in the area is near impossible in the working week but a little easier at the weekend.
Come and enjoy the space at all times of the year.
J. A.
Beautiful greenhouse, and an excellent museum. Not to mention fantastic rose gardens and a generally lovely park to walk around in between. All-in-all a great day out for any group - date, family outing, even just for one person more than worth the time.
I. U.
Absolutely stunning place, perfect for a nice relaxing walk.
R. A.
Beautiful garden with a "Tropical Ravine" and Ulster museum, all free.

Saw the light show here, it was beautifully done.
T. P.
Very beautiful and well preserved!
J. H.
Beautiful public park and gardens easily accessible for a lovely walk to explore "Nature in the City"! While here, stop off for a visit at the Ulster Museum, the Victorian Palm House and the Tropical Ravine. Or just bring a picnic blanket and picnic and relax in the sun soaking up the atmosphere!
S. B.
So so. Too many people for a picnic. Indoor facilities are closed so disappointed. Hopefully all venues will open to the public observing the guidline of COVID19 Restrictions.
G. G.
Fantastic place for relaxing, lots of bench around, but if you wish you can sit on the grass
d. b.
Amazing place for photography
s. m.
A bit early in the year for the gardens to be in their full glory but it was still a nice place to be on a crisp sunny morning. Even though it opens early the tropical ravine and palm hot house don't open till 10am.
X. B.
Amazing ,sympathetic restoration, they have retained as much of the original Victorian charm as possible and have also made it fully accessible to everyone with a lift and toilets. Well worth the visit.
Sat and Sunday had over 2.5k visitors .
Current opening times are .
Mon ..closed ( except public holidays)
Tuesday - Sunday
10am - 4pm
Last admissions 3.45pm
There are looking at extending the opening times until 5pm

This is a beautiful spot to visit when you're in Belfast and it's just beside the ulster museum which is handy too! The gardens are beautiful to walk through or chill out in and the greenhouse holds a specular amount of different plant species. Great for photography and people interested in gardening or just a bit of meditation in amongst the plants. :)
G. G.
Great park to walk about anytime of year, and possibly the most well known in Belfast.
P. B.
Pretty, relaxing, I particularly enjoyed the Tropical Ravine.
E. “.
Pleasant in the early Spring. The flowerbeds are full of vibrant colour. The hothouses are rich with blooms and scents. The lawns have not yet shaken off their winter rough and are damp, but not for long. The renovated tropical ravine is superb and the museum is nearby if it rains or you need a snack. If it's sunny, go and look at the herbacious borders; sit and listen to the bees at work.
C. M.
A large park beside Queen's University containing Ulster Museum. During Summer it's fantastic with all the blooming flowers. It has a new tropical ravine house which is worth a quick visit though it's really hot in there so watch young children and the elderly. The rose garden is also beautiful during summer as is the little walk through the mini forest. It a great place to clear your head or just sit and chill. The PEC is also just at the back of it so it has a little bit of everything for everyone.
N.
Very nicely kept gardens with more to do and see than the average park. Fantastic place to have a walk during the winter, or chill out on the grass during summer. The greenhouse and ravine are amazing and all free of charge which is brill. I wouldn't say you could spend a whole day here but good to put in an hour or two. Handy to get to from Belfast city centre.
H. S.
The green house, the rose gardens, and the surrounding grounds are worth a visit. I felt as if I might stumble upon a fairy hidden in the gentle sloping grounds and trickling waterways.
P. T.
Great place for a event
R. W.
Botanic gardens are an amazing feature if belfast and definitely worth a visit even in winter months! The two tropical houses and the easy access to the Ulster museum hugely add to the park.
Great flower displays in the summer months.
T. C.
There’s something special about Botanic Gardens, it’s a beautiful space within the city to getaway and to enjoy the natural surroundings.
Just a moment from the Ulster Museum and also right next to the Tropical Ravine it’s a great place to take the kids for the day.
As well as that the rose garden is one of the best in the country. Great place for kids to explore.
For some reason we always choose to travel all the way across town just to come here. Not sure why but it’s testament to how beautiful it is :)
G. B. N.
It can be so peaceful to come to the Gardens. There are a lot of beautiful plants and such. It is always warmer in the buildings and at times there are art students sketching, it can be a really nice outing.
A. T.
Nice area for walking dogs.
S. D.
The structure of the Palm House is beautiful but it's looking a little tired. Most of the plants don't have name tags. However track down the Tropical Ravine (close to the Ulster Museum) - that is excellent! We were also lucky to visit when the rose garden was in full bloom. A beautiful scent met us as we meandered through the flower beds. A great oasis in city life.
D. H.
The weather helped it was a cracking day. We spent time going round the new extremely warm tropical greenhouse which is beautiful. The main conservatory has also been refurbished. The grounds are so well kept lovely colours. There is a small Japanese garden which to be honest needs tidying up but no biggie. The grounds are very busy especially at lunchtime because of all the students which brings the place come alive. We didn't get back to the museum but we will review there next time.
K. S.
Very well maintained gardens. Lovely rose garden. Plenty of open spaces to lay out and relax when the weather is nice. Also within the gates of the Botanic Gardens is the entrance to Ulster Museum which I highly recommend.
G. R.
Great place to relax
M. C.
We had planned to go to the gardens during our time in Belfast and we were pleasantly surprised when we found out it was a free access park. The park is very well maintained with long paths to walk or bike on and a greenhouse with different regions to pass through. Outside of the greenhouse is a really nice garden area. It may not be as big or have as much variety as some other botanical gardens but as this one is free I would say it is a great place to visit. It is about 30 minutes walk from the city center.
L. C.
Amazing place, really. Very quiet. The greenhouse, the tropical ravine and the rose garden are beautiful places to spend some minutes in, and there is a nice "bocce" field nearby.
It's a great place to spend some sunny hour in during your weekend or lunchbreak.
N.
You should not miss a walk in this gorgeous park
J. O.
Love Botanic Gardens this time of year, colours are amazing 😀
A. B.
Wow lovely place
N. B.
It's autumn, so many trees are bare, but still a lovely garden with good autumn colour. Roses still in full bloom. Palm house is splendid, wonderful collection of just about every coleus (?) known to man. And the tropical ravine also is well stocked.
K. B.
It's small, but the rose garden is nice, the toilets are closed and on a Monday the ravine and Ulster museum are closed. If you need the loo, go the library just outside the gates, they also have a nice café in there.
S. H. f. l. h. f.
We all love a visit to Botanic Gardens, especially the glass House and the new tropical ravine (wow by the way, we live that too). And the fact that it's free is just fabulous. Sometimes we draw the plants, sometimes we just admire them and stroll, and take a picnic. Lovely way to have a free day out.
H. B.
Botanic Gardens is truly one of the gems of Belfast. The gardens are beautifully kept with plenty of paths and benches. For a longer walk, head along Stranmillis Embankment along the River Lagan. And there are plenty of cafes along Stranmillis Road for a takeaway coffee or sandwich. Enjoy!
S. J.
Always enjoy visits to gardens, however on this occasion we didn't venture out due to mad rain
P. M.
Was nice to have a bit of free time to check out the Gardens,, I little bit of magic in a bit so busy city at the moment ,, I would recommend the garden to anyone even if it's for just " 5 minutes " enjoy
M. C.
Beautiful gardens for walking. Trees magnificent at this time of year. Plenty of seats and toilets available. Very enjoyable experience..
D. B.
It was OK, but looked very deteriated not really looked after and lots of evidence of drug use in the garden. Lots of litter. The garden has a lot of potential even in winter. The starkness can look so beautiful if not for the litter. If people only respected these free gems.. So sad.
D. P.
Nice area in the city center. Great place to spend a sunny afternoon in. Rather small, but with distinct areas. Has a small greenhouse as well. The Ulster Museum is located in it for a nice afternoon combo. Visited in the summer and seemed to filled with people and was very lively wit a great atmosphere.
B. S.
Very peaceful, even though it's close to the Queen's University. Wonderful plantings and the Palm House will reward any visit. Close by is the splendid Ulster Museum, also worth visiting.
V. I.
The Gardens weren't brilliant due to covid restrictions but the Ulster Museum was fantastic
A. O. D.
A quiet space in the heart of Belfast.
S. H.
Very scenic garden. Everything is spread out so there's lots of walking. Only 1 bathroom and it's way in the back.
Take off all your clothes for the tropical exhibit. Extremely hot and humid.
C. W.
Grass very nice. soil good consistency. nobody knows you're looking at them if you have sunglasses on which is a bonus. wee ice-cream van comes when it's sunny. Love it. Will be back.
A. N.
4.20 best day of the year 🥴
J. B.
Some amazing plants and things good for the kids on a rainy day
S. B.
Lovely place to visit, nip into the museum and check out the tropical ravine
S. P.
I love walking through Botanic no matter what the weather its always a beautiful place. The revamped tropical house is stunning and would be great for wedding pics if they allowed access to the ground floor.
J. A.
Well maintained and relaxing, a great place for picnic and just walking with lots of out door benches.
M.
Beautiful place, lovely gardens, nice cafe
E. M. A.
Beautiful, tranquil and peaceful location! Ideal for walking, or a relaxing stroll and a great place for a picnic. Vast array plants and flowers on show, and extremely well maintained. Close to Belfast City centre, approx a ten minute walk away, but this place,Botanic Gardens has a lovely 'country feel';Its country in the city!.
A. K.
Lovely walks, lots of colour and not too crowded despite the warm weather.
L.
So good! All a bit faded grandeur, slowly dripping water from the leaking roof, beautiful rusted doors and graceful struts in the roof, beautiful plants, breath taking flowers, just lovely, like stepping back in time, you can sit in the lovely wrought iron chairs and hust absorb the wonderful atmosphere.
N. O.
Great place to soak up some rays. The greenhouses mat be shut but don't let that deter you.
A. D.
I was in Belfast for the day, the sun came out after the rain so it was a perfect place to meet a friend for a picnic lunch and a stroll round the fabulously well kept grounds, smell the gorgeous Roses and visit the Victorian glasshouse with examples of curved glass that at the time of installation where “state of the art”. There are lots of wonderful plants to see while on a visit. I look forward to when I can return.
P. T.
Great place to visit also the museum how is tjere is free
T. S.
A serene environment with nice paths, an old school botanic greenhouse, and the Ulster Museum. Friendly people too. Highly recommend it.
L. L.
Beautiful place, had a lovely latte in museum cafe
S. L.
Great stuff and well organised, very much appreciated the help from the staff no bother to them at all looking forward to next visit
H. H.
Very nice place in the middle of the town. Close to university. Here you can take a rest from all the buzzing in town center. Some cafes and restaurants near by, including good takeaways makes it perfect. Very old buildings inside the park are worth a visit.
T. A.
Beautiful venue for a walk view the botical gardens and the wide range of plants and finish it off with coffee in the ulster museum and maybe even a walk round the exhibitions. We walked around the history of NI and say the weeping poppy's over the front of the building. Great day out for the family.
C. B.
Lovely gardens close to the centre
r. r.
Botanic is such a beautiful place. Whether you live in the city or are a tourist, always make sure you get round a walk in botanic! It's perfect for a walk, a run, a family day out. It's amazing when everyone's sitting around on the grass in the summer; revising, reading, just enjoying themselves. What's even better is that the Ulster museum is located within Botanic so it means you can go exploring the pyramids, walk around an art gallery for an hour, or trek through the jungle!
J.
Beautiful place to walk in the sun. There are various greenhouses with exotic plants and a museum within. It's all free to go in so I'd recommend students to go for a break from studying considering it is next to Queen's campus.
M. D.
I visited this beautiful park on Friday Afternoon, it's very well maintained and cared for, I especially loved The Rose Garden!.❤️👍
M. P.
Perfect place for families.
M. C.
Very run down and uncared for outside but both hot houses were superb, ate on site at the museum cafe, it seemed appropriate to have the Irish Stew, glad we did as it was very tasty and a great portion size for a lunch time.
G. M.
Always worth a visit if you are in Belfast and the weather is good. Lovely for a gentle stroll around the lawns and the walled garden. The recently refurbished Tropical Ravine shows many mature specimens of tropical and sub tropical flora in a Victorian glass house setting. There is also a large domed glass house with more native varieties.
Queens university is just around the corner, a don't miss building for tourists and the Ulster Museum is right beside the gardens.
F. M.
Beautiful park, had light show setup in it
P. Ó. C.
Ahhhh, you have to love a beautiful Botanic garden. Belfast City Council sure knows how to do this. A huge area practically next to Queens University. A very enjoyable, relaxing place. Very well kept and looked after. The old green house apparently is very unique and has a famous architect. The Council has just spent loads of money on a new exhibition there. A beautiful garden, well worth a visit, just to relax and unwind and watch the world go by. They also have special events here. So check their website.
Z. N.
Excellent gardens in the heart of Belfast.
Well worth visiting and right next door to the museum.
WiFi could be improved as no complete coverage.
Bowling green available for public use.
Love and gratitude.

As far as public gardens go this one is set in such a space to not become overwhelmed. Well kept. Plenty of places to enjoy your own company or that of others. The rose gardens smelt divine on a warm summers day.
