Anyone visiting Belfast should come here, it was one of the best museums I have ever been to. Incredible artifacts from rebel history 1700s-present, and excellent information/explanation of key historical events. Thank you for your effort and work making this available to everyone.

A very interesting and well set out small museum and library. You can see the devotion of Eileen Hickey to preserving the artefacts from the troubles, not just republican ones, but loyalist and trade union items on display. A very warm welcome from the hosts, and definitely well worthwhile for a visit.

Incredibly powerful experience. I was absolutely moved by Ms Hickey’s dedication to keeping the history alive, but beyond that, she wanted no credit for it and repeatedly pointed out it was her sister Eileen who started the museum. I was honestly moved by her class, poignancy, and by the museum in general. It would be a “can’t miss” destination to anyone coming who is interested in history. Make sure to donate, as she mentioned that they take no money from any organization, as to keep from having an agenda pushed on them. I could have spent hours here.

Tremendous collection of artifacts, including weaponry, prison models, photographs, crafts made by prisoners. There's a well-stocked library open to the public. The docent who spent time with me was very friendly and informative. I was impressed with both the span of time covered and the wealth of material.

This is an excellent museum telling a side of the story rarely given space. Of course it contains references to violence because they were violent times. What shines through though is the humanity of people struggling to achieve independence for their whole country. People will draw their own conclusions about the rights and wrongs of the armed struggle but must always remember progress against empires is rarely if ever made without a fight.

Great Irish Republican History Museum Completely Unique, lots of Irish History from all different periods 1798-2000s, run by friendly volunteers and the best thing is it's free! Just leave a donation in the box before you leave! The Museum Relies upon Donations as it's only source of funding. Also is Wheelchair Accessible and has toilets They have an interactive Library for further information and research.

The Irish Republican Museum is unfunded and runs on the passion of its volunteers. A visit there makes it clear how much they care about the cause. The volunteers are incredibly friendly and have a wealth of information that they're happy to share. The museum is open to absolutely everyone. This is evidenced by their library/research room which contains books detailing everything from the history of Ireland, biographies, and histories of both sides of the Troubles. The museum is not only informative but personal, and generous. You can see personal photos taken from inside Armagh Women's prison, letters, and handmade gifts, and crafts made from within prison. A visit is essential to anyone wanting to learn more about Irish history/ Irish Republican history.

A pretty average place having sent 2-3yrs in Lisburn with the army. At the time none could get on. Going on so long now I doubt they ever will. Still not many like the Brits, doubt they ever will. There are some lovely people over there, you've just to be willing to give and take. Understanding is the main thing needed.

Great little piece of history in this museum lots of artifacts

Worth a visit if you're not busy. We were handed a brochure when we walked in but not really guided further. It's run by volunteers so obviously they don't have time to talk to everyone individually. Google maps may guide you the wrong way at first. It's in the inner yard of a bigger building.

Interesting and informative museum, free to visit and the lady who volunteers (didn’t catch her name) was very helpful and welcoming, gave us a tour of the cell and informed us about a few of the exhibitions before we looked around. Definitely worth a visit.
