Reviews of The Samson & Goliath Cranes
B.
These are so impressive! I’ve never seen anything like this. They’re worth an up close view from Sydenham Road.

Landmark cranes. Iconic. But also a reminder to declining industries with no new ships been built in this yard for many years. Good to see H&W still get use out of these giants as part of other heavy engineering projects

I remember I saw those cranes while going on a day tour with my father in July 2013. They sure are very iconic. They build ships, dont they?
They were named after the Biblical figures Samson and Goliath. Gosh I did not know that. Anyway it sounds very interesting.
We're the visitors from Dublin.

I've been ontop of one of these amazing gantry cranes over 300ft high it's class

Might be a bit shallow to say they are part of Belfasts Culture but it's the truth.
These cranes are icons of Belfasts past and can be seen all over the city.

Very imposing structures on the Belfast skyline 🏙

I'm not so sure why Belfast treats these two gantry cranes as if they are national monuments. It's probably just me. But as a tourist, there isn't anything too interesting about these cranes.
They are huge industrial gantries but they are on an active workspace so access to the cranes is not allowed for tourists. You can't go atop them. The cranes also mostly lie stationary on site and don't do much work.
The huge size of the gantries do make good photos shoots, although I suspect similar sized gantries can probably be found in almost any modern harbour with high shipping traffic.

Great industrial heritage. They used to be part of the ship building industries, but that might have changed over the last years. The bright coloured cranes can be seen from far away around Belfast.

If you ever get lost in or around the Great City of Belfast, simply look around until you can see the cranes. Great landmark and one of the most famous (IMHO) of any city. Sorted.

Signature piece of the Belfast Skyline

106m (348ft) great

There is no access to the cranes. They are on a working industrial site. They can be viewed from almost anywhere in Belfast.

Die zwei riesigen Lastenkräne beherrschen den Hafen Belfasts. Ich fand sie wenig fotogen.

The two huge cargo cranes dominate the port of Belfast. I didn't find them very photogenic.
