Reviews of Titanic's Dock And Pump House
B. C.
Basically a cafe, pump house with nice old pumps and a video, then a very big historic hole in the ground. This is worth doing is you want to complete the Titanic experience and fancy a long walk. The good news is that it's only three pounds and the dry dock itself it's impressive, but not much has been done with it other than a few signs. The staff in the café were bored and unenthusiastic. There are no lights at the attraction so don't come too late in the winter. As I would recommend doing it with HMS Caroline which is next to it and a very well presented interesting attraction.
W. O.
Pretty long walk and kinda cool to do if you are enjoying all the other titanic stuff. Definitely brings it all in full circle. Pay extra for the little tram because it is FAR from the titanic experience.it is currently being remodeled so keep that in mind as well.
M. H.
The authentic experience. The pump house and dock focuses on the real feat of engineering and viewing the dry dock from within is almost overwhelming. Being able to touch the caisson gate is as close to touching Titanic as you can get. Friendly staff, great info boards and a bargain entry price (currently just £3ea) avoiding the crowds at the other 'Titanic' experience down the road. Well worth the walk.
C. S. w.
Very interesting place. Not really much to see in respect that the titanic was built in this huge dock. Nice to visit the actual birth place of the titanic
M. M.
Most popular tourist place in Belfast located just behind titanic museum nice for walk or cycle for family
R. H.
Super home made style food. Lovely presentation, great taste, very efficient quick service. Nice atmosphere, good decor and easy to pay. Definitely recommend. Have been a few times. Never been disappointed. Will be back again!! Of course!
R. Q.
been there some quite while ago, but memories are still on point. nice cafe and things around. do believe this would be soon a place that i would visit again

It's so interesting and curious place, the building outside has romantic, sea inspired architecture. Sadly is still closed we cannot go inside and visit. Why?
M. T. D.
Ship Carolina as a part of exhibition also there
Excellent stop
W. P.
Great place to walk round , loads of history 👍
J. D.
Great to see the Titanic's Dock and Pump House. Interesting to see the old building and the pumps down below. Nice cafe in part of the building. Was in as part of a tour and the tea/hot chocolate was nice to get but the mince pies were lovely and warm. Nice atmosphere and great layout. Thompson dry dock beside it is great to see, really impressive.
T. W.
This attraction did not disappoint! There were so few people at this attraction and it was definitely worth the walk out to the end of the island where the graving dock for the Titanic is located. Very interesting and amazing to see the sheer size of the dock and machinery used to pump it out. It’s windy out there, so hold onto your hats and tourist maps!

This is a must see for anyone interested in the titanic story. It is such an interesting location of the titanic quarter and a significant piece of Titanic history.
My visit here was very exciting. It won't be a very long tour but It forms a critical part of the overall tour of the titanic quarter.
The museum itself is very good. The restaurant although basic is very decent (both quality and price wise) I find myself always going back there for a quick bite while at the titanic quarter.
B. S.
Easy to underestimate, very interesting tour.
Took some visitors (to NI) to it, and was pleasantly surprised at just how interesting it was myself. The scale of the slipways are unfathomable until you're stood in them, and if you take the time to review the info boards placed around it (which are well placed, and photos are to-scale from position of reading the board) you get a tremendous sense of perspective. Diversifies info not just on Titanic but to greater Belfast area (and beyond) of the period also. Pump house itself isn't preserved as well as I'd like, but the slipways are the star of the show. We'd done the Titanic Experience tour nearby only a few days before which helped our enthusiasm/experience of the slipways I guess.
S. J.
What a great guided tour of the pumping station and dry dock where the ill fated ship sat. You can look at photos but only when you stand at the bottom of the dry dock do you appreciate the sheer size of the ship. The guide was knowledgeable, good fun and made sure everyone had every question answered. Full facilities are also there so once finished a coffee and bite to eat is a good idea.
Also bumped into the owner who was charming and stood and chatted to my wife and I about some other bits and pieces.
The Titanic exhibition is an absolute must see but you'd be mad to miss this as this is the only way to fully appreciate the scale of the great shop.
L. B.
We went here on October 10th and we basically had the place to ourselves. To see the pumps used for the titanic and the dry dock was outstanding. We were able to walk the length of the dock upstairs and down on the ground where the titanic entered. This was amazing and fantastic and I recommend anyone to do this if in Belfast.
A. D.
There is really historic place
R. W.
Perfect to round of a visit to the museum and very reasonable too, I recommend pre-booking combination ticket online. The Titanic was big, really big and you can only really appreciate this by walking the length of the dry dock which only just accommodated her, then standing in the bottom of the dock and looking up to the top of the white star building which would have reached the height of her first deck! Brings the whole titanic story to life, makes this iconic and tragic marvel of engineering and human endeavor more tangible, gritty and real.
T. H.
Historically unique. We were lucky enough to be in a small cruise ship directly across the small inlet from the Titanic Dry Dock and Pump House. Walking around there and the Science Park was a fun, educational afternoon.
E. '. L.
Personally, I don't have so much with the Titanic or boats in general. The docks and pump house were a nice surprise though. The Titanic Quarter isn't big, but from there you'll have some nice vies on the centre of Belfast. Although the Glider bus system serves to the Titanic Quarter, it is also possible to just walk there.
P. R.
Attended a car show here and it was an interesting setting. Got free admittance to everything too which was interesting. The old dry dock gives you a good idea of the scale of the ship too. Good views of Belfast also.
D. C.
Amazing place. There you should be able to imagine the size of that ship. Unfortunately I spent too long at the museum (which is really good by the way) and I arrived there 15 min before closing.
N. F.
Last visited this before the dry dock was open for tours - will have to go back. First visit was interesting - full of fascinating facts about the pump house. Enthusiastic tour guides.
L. V.
Brilliant to see. You really get a feel for how big the titanic was.
H. L.
When in the Titanic quarter, do NOT miss a visit to the Thompson Graving Dock! What may at first glance look like just an old hole in the ground, it is more like a massive footprint of the Titanic, giving visitors a very good impression of how large and impressive the Olympic trio really was. The dock, and the adjacent pump house, remains as a monument of Belfast's technical and maritime expertise, which once made the city a ship-building centre. Truly a must for any ocean liner history buff!
L. W.
Super interesting museum! Nice, quick way to see the Belfast harbor. I enjoyed getting to walk through the docks with tea from the cafe
c.
Worth a visit , the pump house was just a building when I visited with the old pumps etc inside to drain the dock, the best feature is the dry dock its self , once you enter it its gigantic and you can gauge how big the actual titanic was
D.
A good complement to the nearby Titanic Exhibition, a visit to the dock really helps you to appreciate the scale of Titanic and her sister ships and also to understand some of the engineering challenges that were involved in building them.
R. C.
Been here now several times and along with HMS Caroline and the surrounding area it great for a walk to see the sites of the Titanic quarter and then relax with a coffee and a snack or more at the pump house.
M. S.
Great place to wander around, well worth a visit even if you don't want to go into the titanic museum.
R. P.
Was really amazing place to think that they was capable of all they did floating the Titanic and building that ship in that dry dock. The size of the pumps and all the stuff they used to float it.
A. W.
Had a lovely coffee and snack, let our two dogs in,very friendly staff.Great for a walk with the dogs around titanic paths and finish off at the pump house cafe.
S. H.
Nice to stop and visit for a photo, sadly now (per the rep for the Caroline visitor center in the pumphouse) closed to public, private pre scheduled tours only.
S. P.
Belfast is a great City to see, But The Titanic Museum nr The River lurgen is a Must see, Best way to see this Tour bus in Spring and summer.
S. S.
So the view is incredible and you can see a lot but the dock for Olympic, Britannic, Titanic was is not open for the public 😡👎🏻 not cool!!! So I was looking forward to this the most and I was very disappointed
D. C.
A beautiful place to visit full of history of the world's most famous ship the titanic from the pump house that pumped the water out of the dry dock that the titanic rested and was fitted out worth a visit
E. S.
Amazing slice of history, preserved as it was over 100 years ago. The sheer size of the dry dock is breath taking.
K. F.
This should be as much of a main attraction as the museum itself! Its so easy to miss, but its well worth checking it out.
S.
Very awesome and historical place. I stood in the bottom of the dock only imagining the size of the Titanic
P. K.
Fantastic food, check out the Black Hen Sandwich!!!!!!! Not to be missed, avoid lunch as it can be a bit crazy, if you have a short break, you might get tight on time.
A. G. A.
Be part of the history, this is a worth visit place
g.
It was absolutely amazing and stunning, it really did show you how massive the luxury liner was. Well worth a visit
A. L.
Well worth a visit. Gives you a much better idea of the size of the Olympic liner ships and the engineering involved in building them
J. P.
I miss the old days when this was free to look around. It is a five star site but is let down by how it is run. Worth visiting for sure but could be so much better.
N. E.
Excellent place i feel it should be advertised better as the Titanic experience is good but i bet a lot of people miss out on this
D. H.
Interesting place to visit, great perspective being able to go down into the dry dock where Titanic was.
F. C.
Have not been to this area for many years. Worth a visit to soak up some of Belfast's industrial history and marvel at the engineering with such relatively crude tools to available to these guys
J. F.

(Translated) An amazing place that shows the true size of the ship. A dry dock built especially for the Titanic. It was in this place that the equipment of the ship was completed, from engines to the decor of passenger cabins. A place not appreciated by tourists. It's a pity ...
