What fantastic afternoon, we spent there! Beautiful building, inside and out! Lots to see especially this week as it's half term. Saw stuff they were showing the children that were part of my childhood😁 my kids were bright eyed over the exhibits and were interested to see and hear what the staff was explaining to them. The cafe was absolutely beautiful, and tastefully furnished. The whole place was a joy to go through and the kids enjoyed it as much as me!😊there was lots of exhibits to see and some to interact with, they also had a room for the kids to play in.
The staff were fantastic and enthusiastic! Thanks for a brill day!😀

This museum was massive! The building itself is beautiful and inside there is so much to explore. Art and photography from beautiful to confusing to fun. If you like art there's bound to be something here you'll enjoy. I had a great time and would definitely come back again as I didn't have enough time to explore it all.

A great museum. Went here on a Saturday afternoon and whilst it was quite busy, the layout meant there was still lots of space and also there are more than enough members of staff around.
There is a very nice cafe/ tearoom to purchase food and drinks. Again lots of staff meaning customers get great service.

Such a beautiful place to visit if you appreciate ancient relics and old buildings, as well as fascinating art. Sumerian clay work, Anglo-Saxon jewellery and an Egyptian mummy have captured me. These objects are priceless and older than many would believe. The art is mind blowing. Especially the Lucifer statue. There is much more to see. Give yourself time to enjoy this place. Savour it.

Excellent museum and FREE donations welcome. Beautiful original building with stunning door ways. Wheelchair hire available also free. Many levels of exhibits and great galleries.
The edwardian tea room is a must serving light lunches and beverages also Champagne service available too!! Gift shop and toilets a interesting educational day out for all ages

I used to go there often. Lost of things to see if you take time to analyse each thing. sometimes they have dedicated exhibits. The entrance is free of charge.

Something for everyone here. Magical place with ever changing exhibitions and displays. Lots to learn and enjoy, any ages, any interests. Accessibe, free (some side exhibitions cost extra) and right in the heart of the action in the city centre. Would recommend to anyone.

Very enlightening!!! Built with deep research and careful planning.
Everything is layed out perfectly to take you on an interesting journey through ancient and modern history of the development of Birmingham. The pertinent use of visual aids, like models and graphics, helps one recreate passages of time and see through how Birmingham started & evolved over time.
We went there with kids of various ages up to the age of 12 years and all of them were deeply engaged.
There is a coffee shop on the 1st floor with a variety of snacks and hot beverages.
If you want to know about Birmingham, its history, diversity and culture then this is a must place to visit.

Great museum in the centre of Birmingham. Basic coffee shop inside but staffed by a lovely girl. Brilliant little section on Egyptians & an interesting temporary exhibit on the sinister aggression of cuteness.
Lots of art works - well restored and looked after. I enjoy take photos of these for classical art memes. Pics attached; have fun captioning then! 😄

Well worth a visit to this historic building. Enjoy local history of Birmingham, as well as artefacts from around the world. During this visit we returned to see Ancient Egyptian and Greek artefacts, on the Upper floor. Not to be missed a visit to the Edwardian Tea Room, which offers a good selection of meals, tea and coffee, even champagne at the press of a button (see website for more details). Helpful black boards displaying menu options for the day. Selection of comfortable lounge seats, good service, ideal for a quick snack or leisurely lunch. Check online for free children's events and crafting for a small fee.

This museum is bigger than it looks. I've seen plenty of archaeology and art, so I decided to start in the Birmingham history part of the museum first and found myself still there after an hour and a half. Definitely the place to go to get a good bit of local history, covering the city's history from medieval times through it's industrial past, through pre-modern to the present.
I didn't have much time to visit the other parts of the museum, but I did notice that the archaeological sections were not extensive. That is except for the Staffordshire Hoard exhibition which is dedicated to the Anglo-Saxon hoard discovered in 2009. Some of the over 3000 items are on display and are absolutely stunning.
The art section does look huge though and I'll have to see this another day.

Definitely worth visiting if you are into British paintings. I enjoyed small exhibition dedicated to famous curry business of Birmingham too, since it is such a big thing it is cool to know how it all started etc. Edwardian Tea Room is a must, what a nice decor!

The museum is very big and beautiful, full of great exhibitions and collections from around the world! It has an awesome exhibition of the treasure of Staffordshire, it’s unbelievable beautiful foundation of great gold collection... at last you will enjoy nice tea with some options to eat at the tea room! Love it!

An excellent free public gallery with a wide variety of exhibits. The entrance clearly reflects the period of construction and is a bit gloomy (on the winter's day I visited). Ignore that and enjoy the numerous galleries and the exhibits on display. There is a shop selling a range of gifts. I'll visit it again the next time I visit Birmingham.

Went to see dippy ... it says online to book a slot i got there early and im glad i did as the queue was huge behind me ! They open at 10 and you show your phone with booking details (it is free) yes was interesting but because you can see it in 10 mins we went round museum o how its changed and you can see money is being spent, the exibitions were amazing and shown in great detail you could literally spend hours just wandering round i think every child should experience all the cultures and how life changes through the years .. theres a lovely coffee shop and gift shop ..its wheelchair and pushchair friendly ..

Quite a nice place to spend time. You can marvel at different historic & scientific displays. Very well organized & curated. Will recommend spending half a day here

Nice place to visit. Very calm atmosphere. Can be a great day out for adults and kids. Currently some parts is under redesign
It is bigger then I had thought

A fabulous Art Gallery and Museum. Very interesting collections, well displayed. Very friendly helpful staff. The Tea rooms are lovely and ambient too. A regular spot to enjoy a coffee and cake! Looking forward to visiting again soon. Very highly recommended.

Located in centre of the town, the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery is a massive building with big permanent exhibions to view.
The place is family and kid friendly.
Inside: toilets, lockers for bags and personal belongings, coffee shop and food/snacks, souvenir shop.
It's admission free, nice and quite to escape from the noise of the city for a while.
Those who are curious about history of Birmingham should definitely visit this Museum, because its been created a full department for this purpose.

We took two toddlers and had a great time. Although I would have spent much longer here without the children so a return visit is on. Plenty of interactive exhibits for little ones. Lily loves dressing up so was very happy playing in the medieval clothes and the old fashioned kitchen.
J. D.
Great place to visit! Has some wonderful exhibitions on and the permanent galleries are just as wonderful every time you visit. Plenty to keep you occupied and interested for hours! Would recommend to anyone (accessibility is great there too)!
a.
I arrived quite late in the day so didn't get to see as much as I wanted to, but the little I saw was amazing. If I return to Birmingham it will be to continue looking at the exhibits, excellent place, beautiful buildings, interesting artifacts and an excellent experience.
J. R.
Really enjoyed my visit to the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery! Wondered round very happily for around 2 hours taking in the exhibits set in the most beautiful of buildings. So much variety on display - particularly enjoyed the Staffordshire Hoard and the History of Birmingham exhibits. Will definitely visit again!
W. K.
Went to see the Home of Metal Exhibition, Celebrating Black Sabbath 50 years of the band, their legacy and the fans. Lots of memorabilia from fans and the band, focuses on the early days of the band. The museum has rest rooms and a cafe, also is free to enter except for some exhibitions such as the Sabbath Exhibition, closest parking is about 5 minute walk away.
Z. D.
Wow what a great place! Lots to see and had some very interesting stuff on display...especially the Egyptian mummies and Staffordshire hoard! Visited again this week and also took my 13 year old daughter and she loved it too. Oh and there are lots of bears there at the moment too (as part of the big sleuth)
S. T.
Big place and easily to get lost and forget if u been to have a look at parts already but all free and good fun. Some interesting bits and I hav fussy kids who get bored easy but they were interested in reading and looking at objects and art so was a good way to kill some time in Birmingham whilst being educated.
M. K.
Very good place filled with lots of memories
F. E.
What an amazing place. Plenty of space to wander around. Had a lovely Sunday lunch. Museum is well worth a visit. Can sit, rest and have a coffee. No set vegetarian meal, but made us one up on the spot.

Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery (BM&AG) is a museum and art gallery in Birmingham, England. It has a collection of international importance covering fine art, ceramics, metalwork, jewellery, natural history, archaeology, ethnography, local history and industrial history. The museum/gallery is run by Birmingham Museums Trust, the largest independent museums trust in the United Kingdom, which also runs eight other museums around the city. Entrance to the Museum and Art Gallery is free, but some major exhibitions in the Gas Hall incur an entrance fee. The collection of antiquities includes coins from ancient times through to the Middle Ages, artefacts from Ancient India and Central Asia, Ancient Cyprus and Ancient Egypt. There is material from Classical Greece, the Roman Empire and Latin America. There is also mediaeval material, much of which is now on display in The Birmingham History Galleries, a permanent exhibition on the third floor of the museum. In November 2014 a dedicated gallery was opened to display the Staffordshire Hoard. Discovered in the nearby village of Hammerwich in 2009 it is the largest hoard of Anglo-Saxon gold ever found. In respect of local and industrial history, the tower of the Birmingham HP Sauce factory was a famous landmark alongside the Aston Expressway which was demolished in the summer of 2007. The giant logo from the top of the tower is now in the collection of the Museum.

Always a good place to visit. The new Birmingham history exhibit is very good. A good exhibit of 'Dippy' as well. But all other dinosaur stuff has now been moved to the Thinktank🤨. More art exhibits a mix of 18-20th century and modern.
C. M.
Loved the place ..it has got great art collection of the artists since 8 a d .I personally loved the Pre-Raphaelite gallery.i am not sure if u can click pictures.bt looking at others doing it freely I followed in the end parts of the gallery..the entry is free and you can spend the time with your kids as well. The place is located at Victoria's square where I luckily got to attend Birmingham international dance festival ..so I think that was overall a great experience.do try the tea room it's great place to rest and enjoy the coffee or tea.
A. B.
Lovely free gallery open daily where it's easy to spend a few hours observing the many galleries. Highlights include the 'Knights of the Raj' exhibits and the Staffordshire Hoard. The latter is an interactive room with activities for all ages including Anglo saxon games and costumes to dress up in.
B. N.
Wonderful exhibits from a very diverse collection from The Staffordshire Hoard , Pre-Raphaelites , Da Vinci and much more all within a few 100 yards. Great restaurant / cafe to boot ! Enjoy

A lovely place to visit with kids. It is free.
It did get quite warm inside there as there is no air con. There are quite a few cafes inside the museum. I saw three.
S. “. T.
Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery is great, looks to see the art is not only of the UK, also of the World. It is possible to watch pieces from ancient Egypt, America to modern pieces of the recent history of UK, and specifically of Birmingham. Happy to recommend!
N. Z.
Great place for an educating stop, a date or just to stroll through looking at beautiful art. Lovely place and would highly recommend, various exhibitions and some beautiful pieces to be seen
a. d.
A very welcome haven from the overcrowded German Market. A mixture of Pre-Raphaelite art and new exhibitions. A very decorative building-part of Birmingham's architectural heritage. It was too busy in the Edwardian tearooms- we went to a small cafe in the building- but I will aim to go there next time I visit.
C. W.
The Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery is a great place to visit, it's free entry (sometimes a charge for selected exhibitions) they have a great tea room (I am yet to visit but it looks lush), theres a child friendly area with soft play next to the tea room. We visited primarily for the Rachel Maclean "Too Cute" exhibition and the Leonardo Da Vinci "A Life in Drawing" exhibition which were both free. We queued for the Da Vinci exhibition, but it was wonderful to see original drawings and it was expected as it was the last day to see it. The museum and art gallery have some fabulous exhibitions on all year round too.
A. A.
Lovely museum with a mix of fine art, modern art, sculptures and exhibitions. V interesting Egyptian exhibit with actual mummies and historical artefacts from around the world. Clean and with friendly helpful staff, and free (but donations welcome) used up to date sat nav/ Google maps to get there but it took us somewhere else? Wanted to see the Leonardo da Vinci exhibit but there was a 45 minute queue to get into the room so sadly missed it as had to leave.
A. C.
Overall the quality of content is fantastic and for the discerning adult there is a lot to see and get involved in. There are also children's features and events, however don't base your visit on 'a day at the museum' because there just isn't enough content.
We went to see Dippy the dinosaur (a Diplodocus skeleton) and although there is a family centre that contains dino activities on the second floor, all in all the visit was approximately 40 minutes.
The lifts are the best way to get around if you have a buggy though waiting for them can take a while at peak times.
j. T.
Wonderful place inside and out.
Great exhibits and a big place to look round.Loved the atmosphere and especially enjoyed the "hoard and the interactive exhibits. Give yourself plenty of time to look around.
Great for children and lovely large cafe with plenty of choice.
Well worth a visit and FREE!
A. P.
Many fantastic things to see and so much to learn here. Also great if you just want to just pop in for a coffee and let your children have a play in the 'mini museum'.
A. A.
Great place for art lovers.hosts a rich collection of pottery, coins, along with industrial era workings which gives insight to the industrial revolution.classical paintings depicting a wide subject enclosure present.
J. “. G.
This fine museum has a huge collection of varios artists and historical exhibition. It includes many interactive tools both for children and adults. And is for FREE!
P. B.
Great museum providing insights into how Birmingham has stood the time and how the improvements, modernisation has been adopted along with the pace with which Birmingham has grown into a multi cultural, multi lingual city bustling with so many things happening around. the arts of various centuries provides us with an insight into how the artists and their art works has evolved over the centuries. Birmingham provides for multi faith existence in the city and that is also brilliantly showcased in the museum
H. A.
Nice place to visit with the family, unfortunately we couldn't reserve a viewing for Diplo the dinasour as it was fully booked for that day. The best for us was the Egyptian history and the the living settings of early British residents.
M.
The exhibits are varied in throughout different ages and styles of art but also contain varied types of media and influences. The gender and sexuality exhibit from December 2017 to April 2018 is inspiring and contains works from artists such as Hockney, Emin and Warhol, whilst the permanent exhibits vary massively but a small selection are the Pre-Raphelite Brotherhood, Degas, Moore and Picasso. There is something here for everyone to see. Allow several hours to make the most of it, at least.
h. w.
Highly recommended place. Great exhibitions, especially paintings. No admission fee, friendly staff. Must see attraction in Birmingham.
P. J.
Fantastic place! We have been here quite a few times, this time was to visit Dippy the dinosaur, the exhibition was absolutely brilliant, there were lots of information about Dippy which was really interesting to all of us. The rest of the museum is very informative and my 10yr old daughter loves to look at all the art. Can't recommend this place enough and the fact that it's free entry is music to any parent during school holidays!
C. M.
Positioned within walking distance from public transport and car parks. Surrounded by beautiful buildings. Lots of different rooms to get lost in. Especially loved the round room with the huge paintings and the glass stained windows from various churches. Large range of things to look at and learn about. Will definitely have a return visit.
S. C.
Only went to see the Staffordshire hoard, which was actually mind bending. The exibits were wonderfully presented and made perfect sense. Only drawback was that the exhibition was right at rhe rear of the building which meant that you had to weave your way through a lot of other halls full of paintings before you arrived. Similarly the cafe was somewhat remote and a little expensive. But all in all a wonderful experience.
A. M.
So much to see and also managed to display content in a way that entertained my 10 year old son until the end. Infact he was taking more photographs than myself, bless him! The area is amazing in a sense of architecture. One of my favourite museum visits. Don't miss this attraction if your in the area. 5 out of 5 stars!
S. M.
Great place for a day out and learn about history, culture, animals, mummies and more! It's free and easily accessible. There is a souvenir shop inside. Need good few hours to go through the whole museum and art gallery. There is also a section on Birmingham's history. Kids activities are available. If you need lift access then the entrance is different to the main one. Strongly recommend to visit if you're into history, arts and culture.
M. F.
The building is amazing and the tea room is definitely worth a visit!
I am not an art connoisseur but I wasn't impressed by the collection.
Free entrance, however the museum map and leaflets come with a cost :-)
N. T.
A great museum with so much local and world history. Lovely paintings, structures, models. The Staffordshire Hoard is very interesting to look and listen to. A good cafe also.
s. D.
We love this museum and there is always so much to do. Keep an eye out for events as so many of them are family friendly. The only down side is with all of the construction parking is going to be a night mare. I recommend parking in Athens B4 car park by Birmingham Childrens hospital, the prices are very reasonable and it's got plenty of space.
A. N.
Nice museum... Cant compare it to London ones... But worth a visit. I loved the Birmingham history part... Explains how this city developed ... How it got it's name...
J. S.
Great place, very easy to get to on train or bus, staff are lovely and really helpful to us has air conditioning so nice and cool on a very hot day when we visited close to shops and places to eat
P. M.
Free ! Free ! Free ! Free ! Free Admission.
Always lots to see + do whether attending the specila events/exhibitions/shopping/eating both day + night.
Edwardian Tearooms-breakfast/lunch/afternoon teas/evening gala meals - something for everyone -even a Christmas do thrown into the mix.

Went to see Dippy the dinosaur. Our 4 year old was very impressed and enjoyed the display. There is also an activity room for children. There were lots of activities and we spent a good hour in the room.
Worth a visit.

When in Birmingham City Centre recently I popped into the Museum to see an exhibition that had been discussed on radio. Great exhibit but far too small on weather British Empire was a good thing or not. Depends on which side of the Empire you were on I suppose. It was certainly good for the tiny little island of GB. Would have liked to have seen more material as what was exhibited was thought provoking.
Access is easy once you find the access point with all the building work going on around the Museum. There is a lift at street level for those with disabilities. There are also two cafes in site, the lively Tearooms and a smaller white cube affair. Good range of snacks and meals. The gift shop is lovely and has a lot of products, including books on Birmingham. I didn’t feel the vibrancy that I feel in anyone of the London or Manchester museums.
M. J.
Brilliant museum and art gallery. I entered somewhat hesitantly, but was sure glad that I did. You are immediately greeted by wonderful artwork and this just sets the tone. The exhibition on black people in Birmingham was really good. I enjoyed the Egyptian section as well as the buried treasure exhibit with the various finds and the swords on display really intrigued me. The mummification process was interesting along with the things found in the tomb. The trinkets from ancient Egypt really caught my attention. This place is worth the visit. One more thing, the stained glass window display was amazing and just beyond that was the children's section which was a really good addition.
C. U. (.
Prefect place - If u want to know about birmingham history or enjoy old paintings. You need minimum couple hours to enjoy everything. Free entry 😊
B. S.
We saw Dippy the Dinosaur here - impressive building, with good facilities for families. Linked to the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, the whole experience proved a fun day out. Dippy was looking magnificent, if a little thin ;) The kids were impressed!
S. W.
Plenty to see, just about enough to entertain kids as well. The history and development of Birmingham is very good. The food in the Edwardian tea Room looked very good.
M. P.
A really pleasant place to go on a rainy day. Haven't been for years, so many changes sorry to see the the dinosor exhibits have departed but replaced by more contempory items. The old Victoria tea rooms are a must see.
C. S.
I had a few hours to spare so decided to go to the gallery and museum. I thought there was a good variety with many rooms offering things to suit different tastes and ages.
I found the room which had the below photos very enjoyable but strange.
There's also a cafe in the building but I didn't use it so can't comment if it was good food.
T. C.
Free entry, suitable for family. This museum owns a decent tea house called Edwardian tearoom at level 2 which is recommended to have a rest after your tour in the museum! The collections are fine.
n. m.
I loved it.i would recommend but because of covid not everything is open. The gift shop is great and if you are interested in art the art gallery is big.
C. S.
Great museum! It combines art galleries of different types with history as well. There are activities for kids all over the place. Whoever is looking after this place is doing it right. The museum promotes art and culture as something fun and accessible. Would highly recommend to anyone coming to Birmingham!
G. F.
Outstanding experience! I recommend to anyone who appreciates art. It’s family friendly and free!

I really love coming here and seeing the different expeditions and stuff they have on display it’s amazing the staff are friendly love coming to this place
J. K.
Great place to visit, easily accessible. We visited for the Black Sabbath exhibition. Highly recommended
A. K.
It’s huge!!! Loved every bit of it.
No waiting for entry.
R. M.
Amazing. I really love going to museums. For the most part and the Art Gallery, it's free. There are some expositions that you have to pay a fee to enter, but it's definitely worth it. Enjoy 😊
T. &. E.
Good all round experience with something for everyone in there. I went when dippy was there which was good to see. The museum is also connected to art museum so you go straight through and have a look round three too. Child friendly aswell.
C. J. L. P.
Constructions at surroundings, better to get prepared for taking more pretty photos inside the museum instead of ouside
The construction would be lasted until 2019
C. T.
We happened upon this museum on my most recent visit to Birmingham. Admission is free and we spent over an hour wandering around the varied collections. The building itself however is quite run down and many galleries are closed, it's particularly disappointing when you're in a mezzanine gallery looking down on a long closed exhibition space come store room. Still, well worth a visit if you're in Birmingham!
R. J.
Great place to visit for all ages as there is plenty to do. Its to big to do in 2 to 3 hrs,. Next time, we are going when it first open, do half of the museum and get dinner then back again. To spend a day there.
J. F.
Love the place, it's feel and the location however there seemed to be a lot of everything rather than focussed subjects. Da Vinci well worth the visit on its own, magnificent pieces of history there including Morris' classic prints & various art in different mediums. Loved it.
M. F.
Beautiful place, recommend to visit. Nice artworks, kind staff, historic. Would visit again
R. M.
I don't overly know why but I wasn't overly impressed with the museum which is strange for me. But I did like the Egypt displays I felt they were done very well. The Greek and roman felt boring as there was a lot of various pottery artefacts but felt like not much else. There was a major issues with the display information in the Staffordshire hoard section as it showed Hereford within Worcestershire. Historically apart from a few years in the 20th century they have been completely separate and very different counties. I would expect for such a museum to not make such a big mistake.
On a positive note all the staff were very friendly.
J. H.
A glimpse into the cities past in a high quality exhibition that moves well through the ages. Some areas could do with a Revamp but all in all a great day out.
J. B.
I only had about an hour to explore the museum, so I definitely didn't manage to see everything. My main intention was to see the Staffordshire Hoard exhibition, which was beautifully designed, with a variety of objects, videos, reenactments and activities, etc. Then I briefly looked around the Near Eastern, Egyptian, Greek, Roman and A History of Birmingham exhibitions. I definitely need to visit another occasion with more time on my hands. The staff were friendly and very helpful; a credit to the museum.
L. G. (.
Lovely place, recommend for a quick visit at least. Free entry, plenty of things to see. Especially the history of Birmingham which is marvellous. They organize different events inside too. The restaurant inside is good, food is very tasty. At first we taught we are going to spend only half an hour but it took us 2 hours to complete the entire museum.
L. B. (. B.
I have been visiting regularly for years and enjoy it just as much every time. There is always something new to see and learn and something suitable for anyone. They also have excellent temporary exhibitions and events.
E. K.
It was amazing. You can admire fine art from Ancient Greek, Roman Empire, Egypt.
T. F.
Amazing that this beautiful museum is free of charge! You could spend at least a full day in this museum. Things definetely worth a visit is the "Staffordshire Hoard"; It is a treasure from the Anglo Saxons in the year 800 - 1000, found in a field near Stoffordshire. Other must sees are the History of Birmingham, and the Giant Dinosaur which is on display. Definetely a must see when visiting Birmingham!
K. H.
A fine city gallery, catering well to children and displaying a huge range of pieces from pottery to modern sculpture. I thought the display on religion in Birmingham was a great idea, considering the multicultural diversity of the city, but could be deepened. There is an absolutely beautiful (and reasonably priced!) tea room aswell.
A. “. D.
Wonderful place. Exhibits are informative and tactical at times. So much to see we need to go back to see the rest.
C. A. D.
Despite all the building work that is currently taking place nearby in central Birmingham, the city's Museum and Art Gallery is open for business as usual and is a great place to spend a few hours learning about the history of this iconic, industrial and manufacturing hub of the West Midlands. The 20th century ceramics gallery was a particular favourite during my most recent visit, as well as the local history spaces featuring contemporary photographs and fine art illustrative of the diverse demography and migration history of Birmingham's multicultural urban population. The art and technology exhibition (titled, "I Want! I Want!") on the ground floor was also very engaging, with highly innovative installations and computer-generated graphic designs by Julian Opie, Eddie Kamuanga Illunga, and many other famous contemporary artists. A room devoted to the celebrated (and internationally renowned) fine art photography and photojournalism of Dr Vanley Burke is what this museum & gallery service need to invest in and implement in the very near future.
J. I.
Great place to take the kids in the holidays. Currently 'Dippy' the dinosaur from the natural history museum is there on his national tour. Entrance is free and plenty to see and do when inside.
R. S.
Very much enjoyed all the displays and the recent addition of a reconstructed helmet discovered not far away! Employees very knowledgeable and helpful!
j. k.
Really enjoyed going round the museum. Surroundings very impressive, like stepping back into another world.
S. C.
Britain's museums and galleries tlreally are one of the national greatest resources, and although I've been to Birmingham many times, I've never been to the museum before, but I certainly will again. Although I visited mainly for the (excellent) Black Sabbath exhibit, the rest of the museum was a revelation, a beautiful building with very well thought out exhibition spaces - a must visit location if you have any interest in the history of the area.
M. G.
Enjoy it!
F. H.
Absolutely amazing place. So much to see and do. So much for children. Very highly recommended
G. B.
Enriching my children's knowledge going to Birmingham museum was great. They had a great time looking at the pictures, statues, learning about the World War and the treasure found in Staffordshire I, 2009.
😃 proud to be British!
G.
Great art in numerous galleries. Frequent guest exhibitions are well thought out. Free entry but donations are welcome. Impressive tea rooms with good food. Gift shop with many art related items and, unusually, items you may actually want to give as gifts.
C. d. H.
Excellent exhibition. One really good thing about BMAG is that there's always something 'edgy' to enjoy. Definitely worth a visit any time of the year, month, week or day! Give it a go and enjoy, Christiaan :-) :-)
K. K.
Staffordshire hoard particularly interesting. The rest of it is nicely presented, but fairly traditionally curated, so not really any surprises.
I didn't visit the cafe, although that looked fairly promising for anyone in need of coffee and cake
M. M.
Very nice museums. I popped in just to learn brief history of Birmingham and I wasn't disappointed.
d. r.
Absolutely amazing! Such a great selection of art. Staff are all super friendly. A great day out for all ages and the gift shop is well priced. The museum is free to enter but please either buy something or donate as this is indeed a gem.
s. C.
I love bringing my children here, there's so much to see and it's free. So interesting to see the cultures and civilisations of the past. Paintings and artifacts from all over the world and from many different periods up until the modern day.
I love learning about Birmingham's past and I'm so glad the museum doesn't neglect this. Some really interesting instalments here and displays that engage the children too.
After traipsing all over the Ancient world, examining the curiosities on display, you must navigate the giftshop (which has to be one of the most relevant and delightful giftshops I've encountered). You'll find inexpensive treasures as well as more pricey gifts (I've got my eye on the saxon helmet with matching shield, but then I'd have to share it).
Finally, you'll need a cuppa to digest all that you've learned. Thankfully the museum has the best teashop in town, the Edwardian tea house. Treat yourself to afternoon tea (choose the Earl Grey tea, it's gorgeous). There's a little play area just at the entrance where you could sit and watch the little ones while you rest your weary feet.
This place is amazing and still free for everyone, so do consider spending some money in the gift shop or tea room, or perhaps a small donation, if you want to show your appreciation.

Visited with our 2.5 and 1 year old, perfect for a rainy day, lovely minimuseum and tea rooms, plenty to investigate, some parts have a fair bit of interactive items suitable for youngsters. Saturdays 11am-1pm they offer creative bits for kids for a £1 too, we painted a Valentine's card.
A. ..

A. B.

S. P.
The museum is very interesting and really big. The art is great and It´s good to know more about the history of Birmingham. And all of that for free!
N. H.
Great selection of pre Raphaelite works and always something new to view. This time it was the Leonardo da Vinci drawings. Fascinating.
I have to say I wonder why we (in Birmingham) and other cities throughout England and Scotland get to see a handful of these works. Whereas London get the lot.
D. H.
What a fantastic place, what a fantastic way to demonstrate and show our history. Atmosphere and staff amazing
R. J.
Beautiful artworks from around the world and all periods of history. Free admission. What's not to like? Go see Dippy before September. Diplodocus on tour from NHM. Pre-Raphaelite exhibition is beautiful.

E. T.
Dippy the Dinosaur exhibition is great worth going! Vanley Burke exhibition is also wirth visiting.
T. M.
Just quite a few stairs there . Lovley place to visit in the heart of the city
V. L.
Built systematically, not large enough to bore you. The red room with the famous lucifer sculpture reminds me a little of the Napoleon rooms at Louvre!
N. P.
As I walked into the first room, greeted by an amazing collection of ceramics, then saw all the collections... each had it's show stoppers!
A. W.
Closed until 2022 but well worth a visit when it reopens. Lots to explore. Dont forget to try out the beautiful tea rooms. The muffins are to die for.
N. S.
The ceiling there are breathtaking. It s a great museum
G. W.
A lovely museum lots to see helpful staff. We arrived around 2pm so didn't have time to see everything when we visit again we will arrive earlier so we can see the whole of the exhibitions. Nice tea room reasonably priced. Entry to the museum is free but donations can be made and gift aided to boost the donations.
N. E.
Spectacular Pre-Raphaelite art collection and the Staffordshire Hoard takes your breath away.
I love that British museums and art galleries are free to visit.
T.
Great place to visit lots of information and experiences and exhibitions
S. J.
Really interesting old building. Loved the 50yrs Black Sabbath Exhibition
a.
solid imposing museum in the heart of buzzy regenerating Birmingham, a short walk from the towns new library. friendly staff and excited school parties when I got there. Chamberlain and the city fathers will be happy.
the art gallery is strong on the Pre-Raphaelites, especially Edward Burne - Jones. the building will take you on a journey from some medieval pieces right through to the multi cultural city we know today. coffee and tea shops along side the obligatory shop with pencils and erasers.
N. L.
Lots to see. A few nice tea rooms.
R. M.
Excellent visit as always. We caught the farewell party for Dippy the dinosaur, which was well done. The only snag is accessiblity with a push chair. The main entrance is services by only a single lift which is slow.
N. F.
Really nice museum full of interesting exhibits. Best tea room I have ever seen. Worth a picture!
R. G.
It's quite nice, it's not big but kid oriented so good place to go with your children
S. J.
I always enjoy a stroll through the galleries and there is always something new to discover. A beautiful building and great atmosphere.
J. E.
Fascinating place and it's free worth a couple of hours of your time
C. H.
Stunning visit... met new like minded friends as well.... very much recommend a trip to ANYONE... lots to see and experience
I. J.
Always interesting exhibits and pictures, some local others international, to see. Brigit Riley and ancient maps almost next to each other
D. D.
Was expecting a little more on display inside the galleries. But the Saxon hoard made up for it. There was also one or two rooms that were empty due to a refurb.
Y. S.
Great museum with wide range of excellent art and it's free! A must watch in Birmingham
M. V.
It's interesting and nice to see old history
L. S.
We travelled from West Yorkshire purely for the Black Sabbath exhibition (August 2019) and it was worth the journey.
We had lunch there, food was a tad expensive but was lovely and the Tearoom is a sight to behold. Total Edwardian beauty.
A great museum, clean, spacious. Lots of interesting, fabulous exhibits. Spent around 4 hrs there.
We also checked out The Black Sabbath Bridge. 👍🏻😄 A must see for fans, great photo opportunity.
Will definitely go back to the museum as so much to see, we didn't get around it all.
D. I.
Went to see Dippy the Diplodocus. Huge museum. Really interesting! Well worth a visit and it's free!!!
A. m.
Great to see you open again following COVID closure. Had a lovely coffee and cake at the tea rooms. The walk round the galleries made things feel almost normal again!
S. D.
Love this place.
Cafe architecture stunningly beautiful. Light and airy, comfortable to sit and chat whilst enjoying a good selection of snacks. I personally found the exotic looking flavoured teas overpriced and tasteless- regular drinks however, were great, food good quality.
Souvenir shop good value with good range of products suiting pocket money treats or special gifts. Highly recommended, especially as entrance is free, so makes taking a souvenir a little more affordable.
Nice layout of great exhibits, helpful, knowledgeable and friendly staff.
We are so lucky to have this museum in the heart of the city, and there's so much to see that regular visits would not disappoint. Love it!
L. H.
My daughter & I visited the Museum yesterday for the first time, it was an amazing day out. We enjoyed coffee & cake in the Edwardian tea rooms, which was lovely! The art galleries are beautiful, then there's the history parts!! Wow, absolutely incredible! The amount of artefacts on show is truly amazing, very very impressed.
T. S.
The staffordshire hoard exhibition is a must. This was our second visit and the volunteer guide made it so interesting.
K. T.
Has an excellent collection. I love the exhibitions they put on throughout the year. There is always something interesting to see. The history of Birmingham section is also good. And make sure you check out the tea rooms they are lovely
S. F.
Amazing museum. Check out the hoard!
R. D.
One of my favorite places in the city. Their permanent exhibitions are always worth visiting again, and there are always new exhibitions coming up, that are completely antagonistic to one another, so all types of audiences can enjoy the museum. It is a beautiful building, full of invaluable works of art. It is easily accessed as it is located in the cultural centre of the city. Admission is free, but you can leave a cash donation if you have enjoyed your visit.
D. H.
we've been visiting birmingham for years to shop and eat out...the restaurant here is a hidden gem...and the museum is amazing, great for children aswel as adults...loads of interactive things to do and see too...a great family day out
A. R.
Been in Birmingham for two years and i regretted that i didn't visit the museum more..
W. J.
I enjoyed my trip to the museum. There was lots to look at we hardly got to it all. It was a little hard to move about the museum though. Not much direction and you seem to be going back and forth to get to different areas. Needs a better flow I guess. Still very cool and the kids enjoyed it.
C. B.
So much to see only got round some of it
D. H.
So, we have been in the UK for just over 2 years. Visiting this museum, the layout takes you through the centuries from when the city was first founded to present day in a logical flow. What was clever and very interesting is the wealth of everyday information they included. The manufacture of buttons, whistles and other products we don't normally take note of originated from this great city. The guides were helpful and friendly. Well worth a visit.
V. R.
Not complete satisfaction, strange creations, but also great works.
̃. ́.
I watched a Facebook video (from Unknown Facts if anyone’s interested) which mentioned the Sultanganj Buddha. All the Buddha statues I have heard about are sitting or — rarely — lying down. This one is standing and quite heavy. Anyway, given that it has been in the UK for roughly 157 years I hope the Birmingham Museum will find a way to return it home to India from where Buddhism originated.
D. N.
Great place to learn about Birmingham and its origins and its past. Very welcoming and clean. The other displays were very interesting aswell. Some displays brought a few memories to mind 👴🏽. Definitely worth a look while in the city. Also the Christmas Market is just outside which is a bonus at this time.
s. d.
Afternoon tea in the restaurant was ok but a pleasant walk through the gardens they were well kept and interesting to see.
A.
It's a great place for all history lovers they have a wide variety of things to look at and it's completely free. They also a a cafe on site to if you get hungry or thristy
S. M.
Since a child I have always spent time here and the ever changing exhibitions keep me going back. Lovely gallery spaces and cafe.
P.
We visited on a wet school holiday. Plenty going on to interest all ages. Very bus . We enjoyed the Made in Birmingham features. Ancient Egypt room is fascinating. Toilets were very crowded especially with pushchairs. We used the Bridge Cafe.... not much choice and service not brilliant . But all in all well worth a visit to this museum.
C. D.
Loved the place!! Wish I could have spend more time in it!
M. G.
Pleasantly surprised by the number of historic items on display. We spent almost a while day. The coffee shop is brilliant with a wide variety of dishes on the menu. We ended up with an afternoon tea which was at a very reasonable price too! Overall great place to visit.
B. N.
Very nice place... i liked 😍
O. T.
Nice place to visit. Great history place.
S. K.
A great museum in Birmingham City centre with free admission. An exhibition called 'Coming Out' was on when we visited, which was well presented and thought provoking.
N. U.
Nice collection and they also hold interesting events and special exhibits. The people here are really nice and very helpful. ^_^
T. A.
Great place to go with friends and family to view the amazing artwork. Had the dinosaur exhibition there recently- was breathtaking. Free to look around and take photos. Located in city centre with plenty of restaurants and cafes around once finished. plenty of activities for kids also. Would highly recommend visit if in area and interested in art. Architecture of building and surrounding buildings in area are beautiful - huge contrast to usual city type buildings
B. M.
First time we have visited with a group ranging in age from 2 to 40 odd. Fantastic exhibition of Dippy the dinosaur taking place, great to see kids so interested in non screen based stuff! The exhibition was completed by a fabulous chap dressed up in a dinosaur costume who was really smiley and jolly with the little ones.
The art and exhibits are also really interesting and well laid out in a beautiful building. I'm sure that you could spend a good few hours having a delve. Also had a good if busy café.
K. Y. K.
Old Victorian building, but the museum inside is really impressive! Huge, state of the art with modern facilities. There are souvenir shops, cafes and public restrooms as well. Free entrance and really worth visiting! You may probably spend about two to three hours here. It is within walkable distance from New Street station and Bullring
A. S.
So much to see. Plan to stay thw whole day.
K. R.
With regards to school holidays and activities for children there is plenty to do. A watercolour painting session for kids was an excellent couple of hours indoors. The museum and art gallery itself is always worth a visit regardless
G. B.
Went to listen to the lunchtime concert. It was excellent. Baroque music played on guitars, harp and lute. Vocals were sublime. The museum continues to have other attractions that are worth a visit as is this Victorian building itself. There is a cafe and a shop too.
M. A.
First time I've been here and I enjoyed it. It's not an amazingly big museum, however if you're into your local history and you want to know more about life in Birmingham then you'll enjoy it here. My kids enjoyed it too. You can easily spend hours here
C. J.
Temporary exhibitions are changed regularly. The christmas choir was a lovely idea and they were excellent. Edward Tea Rooms is always very good. Great team work there. The whole museum and gallery is clean and well presented. Great staff. Thank you!
K. K.
Incredible museum.. Beautiful art work made through the centuries. Free entry.
M. M. 4.
A nice day out. I miss the natural history area though.
F. S.
First I went to see the exhibition about Black sabbath, and didn't have much time for anything else but then when we got back to Birmingham, we went to see. It's an amazing museum. I really enjoyed the archeology and local history, but overall it is a great museum and my kids enjoyed. Moreover it's free. So....
a. e.
lovely family day out. free. well stocked. loads to look at and interact with
G. W.
Certainly worth a look around, and whilst not on a par with the Liverpool world museum it does have some interesting exhibits. It is set in a lovely square and is an impressive building. Current " cute " exhibition was good and very different. Kids found some of the areas a little boring and were miffed there were no dinosaurs or natural history exhibits. But overall a good mornings nosing ... And its free !
B. W.
Intriging, did not have long to explore but will be back
L. W. B.
great museum and art gallery good place to take the children as they can touch things and it's free the exhibition on the home of metal we had to pay for but it was really good.
The cafe is lovely tad expensive but you get the Edwardian ambiance. Been there a few times and still enjoy it
M. C.
Linked to the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. Currently displaying Dippy on Tour - giant diplococcus model
P. K.
Location is great with big open space
H. B.
Great free place to take your children, fascinating things to see. Can be a bit confusing as places aren't labelled properly
M. C.
It's always nice when museums are free/by donation. You could easily spend a few hours here. There are nice exhibits on the local area. There is a cafe and a gift shop. There's also two places with lockers to store belongings for a pound. The museum is open Saturday and Sunday until 5pm. Recommend a visit if you are in Birmingham.
D. S.
We arrived whilst it was being remitted with the Dippy the dinosaur display so parts were closed. The staff made us very welcome. It was free to enter.. the guide was very accurate and informative. We enjoyed the mixture of exhibitions and the way it was all presented. We tried the coffee shop, the young lady that served us made a perfect cup of coffee and the cakes were soft and tasted very nice... highly recommend a visit for all ages.. Thank you to everyone working during our visit we were made to feel welcome and valued as a visitor..
A. J.
Last time I visited the museum must have been at school visits. Not really appreciated then what we truly have. I mostly enjoyed seeing in front of my own eyes was the "Staffordshire hoard" ancient find, hundreds of years old ,magnificent gold, silver and multiple coloured gems. Definitely worth a visit and FREE entry and very helpful and friendly staff.
A. B.
So much to see! I have visited many times and still not seen it all. Some simple craft activities are available for kids at the weekends. The tea room is very grand. Food is okay. The museum has many exhibitions. The current Women, Power, Protest is excellent. This museum is an asset to the city and well worth a visit. Pop in for a few minutes or stay the whole day!
D. L.
Went to see the Black Sabbath exhibition which was excellent. The staff volunteers were lovely and friendly.
P. R.
Old favourite never disappoints!
I've been dropping in here for the last 50 years. Walking up the same marble steps with the same anticipation. The art collection is outstanding, the Staffordshire haul exhibition excellent. The museum restaurant is reasonable and it's just great to sit amongst history while you eat your lunch! Love it!
S. S.
It was so interesting to have the audio-guide so we could reveal the story behind the artwork
M.
Great place to go take a look around, do however make sure you leave at least two hours or so free as there's tones of great exhibitions and artists installations to look at. We really enjoyed our time at the gallery and I'd recomend to anybody, extremely child friendly for a gallery too!
A. B.
Big place, a little confusing and some of the interactive stuff is a bit dated or worn out. The glass on most of the art combined with the lighting used makes it hard to see well and impossible to photograph. But a good collection and some interesting displays - good way to spend a few hours without spending much.
T. M.
A treasure trove full of fascinating artifacts including real mummies and ancient gold! Children love the hands on activities in the local history section but the mini museum needs a bit of attention to ensure that everything works and is in good condition. Also was a bit disappointed that we had to walk through the the 'cute becomes sinister' exhibition to get to the mini museum. Maybe having something more child friendly on over the easter holidays.
C. W.
We always visit here at least once a year with our local steampunk group. Beautiful building, wonderful paintings, sculptures and usually a good exhibition. The tea room is very spacious, serves good food and staff are very friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit.
P. B.
Really lovely staff and a night and beautiful setting. The Ancient Egypt display is exceptionally great! Suitable to visit with children, they have a Mini Museum play area for little ones next to their Edwardian cafe!
A. D.
Went with my 4 year old and 7 year old very good with lots of things for the children to touch and handle staff were all very helpful and helped to make the whole experience fun. Food is expensive in the tearoom but area very clean and well kept staff very attentive cost over £8 for 2 kids half sandwiches and 1 large coffee (did get a free mini muffin have different offers on each day) but as entrance to the musem is free still a cheap day out.
L. T.
The museum has a thought provoking exhibition centered around women on the first floor which is well worth a look also the Staffordshire hoard and magnificent art works and sculptures.
Good disabled access by lift to each floor plus toilet facilities.
Family friendly.
A. N.
Priceless art that will take you mind on an interesting journey back in time!
C. V.
Great free entrance as it should be unlike the Think Tank Science Museum which charges. Okay it's not quite as interactive but it is free.
There is a side entrance with lift access for those who need it as there are MANY steps through the primary entrance ... beautiful though.
D. C.
We had my daughter's wedding reception here and it is a great place for it. The people organised it very well and were helpful throughout the process. They created a special menu for us for my daughter's preference of dishes, and the food was very good. The rooms are a superb place for a reception, large and have grandeur. We also had a dance band in the evening in the Tea Room. The use of the rooms worked very well and there was plenty of space for all the guests. Would recommend this to anyone for a wedding reception.
S. W.
Visited for the first time in ages, particularly to see the permanent Staffordshire Hoard exhibition. That would get 5 stars, it is world class and beautifully lit and explained. Not so thrilled with the Edwardian Tea Room. The grand piano seems to have gone, and the decor is not very exciting. I liked the fact that the tea is loose leaves, not teabags, but the teapots are grotty enamel, chipped and very unhygienic looking. Used to visit the Edwardian a lot in the early 2000s, when it had a nice salad bar - quite disappointed. Sorry!
S. K.
Outstanding museum for local history. Plenty of interactive displays to hold the interest of children. What an absolutely stimulating and educational way to spend a rainy day with the children.
Don't forget to leave a donation to help ensure such beneficial resources as this remain open.
P. C.
Their cafe has tables with buttons where you can ring for champagne. I thoroughly endorse this.
A. J.
It is worth to visit it especially because the entrance is free and only for donations. Very good selection of art collection in good order and condition. History about Birmingham is showed in interesting form like impressive storytelling manner. There will be possible to see also temporary exhibitions among main collection. It is good to schedule at least two hours for museum visiting and conclude the visit with in my opinion the best tea house in Birmingham. It has many place to sit, good food and dessert cake's collection. Tea is offered in big pot with large milk pot.
B. C.
Interesting exhibits, currently including the Staffordshire Hoard. The museum staff were friendly and helpful. The Black Sabbath exhibition was great, although pricing is a bit steep at £13 per adult. The rest of the museum is free though (as they should be) and the whole place is well worth a visit.
L. P.
Beautiful place with history. Visited it because of da Vinci’s drawings.
J. F.
Amazing place, love it. Visit regularly
S. D.
Loved this place so much to see and do. Great place packed with beautiful artifacts from over thousands of years. Nice cafe to, reasonable prices. Would recommend good paid off comfy shoes if you want to get to see everything in a day.
V. B.
Amazing place. We sew dino skeleton Dippy.
A. A.
Fantastic place, you can get to know lots of things about Birmingham.
T. T.
Wonderful! Very kind and helpful staff and the Black Sabbath exhibition is a must see for all metal heads. The gallery has a lot of fantastic paintings, but the museum part was smaller than I expected but still impressive.
P. “. S.
Interesting place to visit. Various sections from modern art to ancient Greek to the Staffordshire Hoard. Well worth a visit.
G. C.
A real interesting visit with some great exhibits. I found it's really great place to visit, it's a real gem in the centre of Birmingham and great for the family. We needed disabled access and the lift is right next to the stairwell as you go in on the left, your party won't get split up as they both come out right in front of the check-in entrance.
It's great that they have exhibits from London museums as well so you'll get to some of the exhibits you wouldn't usually find in other museums. The museum has a lot to offer in all age ranges and disability access is great. We went during the dippy Diplodocus dinosaur event and it was really fun, some great information to be found and nice little worksheets for the children to explore with. The photo points that they've set up work very well so you can get some great snaps with the family.
Access to the museum via bus, taxi and train is very good, so not a lot of walking is involved. You are right in the centre of everything and you have a wide range of places to eat or drink nearby. My recommendation would be the cosy club, it's absolutely amazing. If you fancy shopping, it's right there on the doorstep. You should really enjoy it!
All in all, we all really enjoyed our visit and would certainly go back to visit again.
B. S.
Still very good but just doesn't seem as much a when i went as a youngster, it's a shame all the animal section has moved to Think Tank.
The Staffordshire Hoard was amazing to see in person. The mind boggles as to the detail in the found pieces, really amazing to see them.
L. M.
Wonderful museum and gallery. We visited just before xmas and the restaurant was very busy. We had to wait 40 mins for a bacon sandwich and the soup was so spicy I had to drink a pint of water with it. Oh and the little cafe with all the lovely cakes shut at 3.45 on a Saturday..!
A. G.
It's free!!!! Would highly recommend this excellent insight into Birmingham's history and so much more. Do leave time to visit the tearooms as well. The bhaji burger was an excellent choice and the fish finger sandwich was good too. So much to see and lots if interactive things to do too.
P. T.
Went to see dippy, first in the queue! Glad we were because that place filled up very quickly.
It's a very quick look around the exhibit with a few things around the edges, but once done you can continue on into the rest of the museum where they have hidden little dinosaurs all over for the kids to find. The last one is a bit confusing but the children enjoyed themselves anyway.
Y. v. S.
The museum is very nice and have got proper directions and instructions at place which is helpful for visitors. Staff is helpful too. The only issue I found was the lighting ober the paintings and behind it(not all for some), die to which it's not clear to view it properly. If that is rectified, It will be really great.
J. S.
I cannot rate this place highly enough. Fantastic collection of artworks, well displayed. Knowledgeable, friendly staff. The museum covers a huge amount.
It's free to enter, the tearoom is fairly priced. Plenty to do
D. M.
Free entry to such a beautiful artistic and ancient place is a pleasant surprise. One day is definitely not enough to admire the beautiful and mesmerizing paintings and artifacts in this well maintained museum.
There are special story tellers for kids, unfortunately my kid was too tired to walk around, so we missed watching a lot but will definitely come back to experience the magic of the marvelous paintings.
J. F.
I loved this place. The museum side is excellent, particularly around the history of Birmingham and the Saxon Hoard. The galleries have a really nice Victorian feel. The Edwardian Tea Rooms are the icing on the cake. Whilst the food and drink portions are quite small the quality is good and the atmosphere is amazing. Well worth a visit if you're in Birmingham centre.
M. B.
Greate place to visit... Very informative about Birmingham history
M. E.
Fabulous place, went for the Black Sabbath exhibition, really enjoyed it
J. M.
Very impressive. This is much more than a provincial gallery. There are works of international importance here. The building itself conveys the opulence of Birmingham's industrial past. The cafe was very nice and a great place to take someone on an afternoon date, especially if you are a student or 6th former trying to impress and arty type!
L. C.
Was great you definitely need a few hours to get round the whole museum to see it all might take more than half a day! We'll be back to visit again soon my children especially enjoyed the interactive aspects of the museum like the electronic photo boards and the telephones you could listen to stories of different children with jobs in the olden days bit. Such an interesting place. I am a big fan of peaky blinders so find Birmingham's history really interesting.
R. C.
Great place for relax and refresh your mind!

The statue that welcomes you upon arrival is probably where the museum peaked for me. The museum is home to some beautiful artwork, some with terrible restorations, and others marred by bad lighting.
The collection lacks any standout appeal or dedication to a particular subject. There's a bit of everything and many of the artifacts seem to be of a standard rejected by better museums. The few Eyptian mummies are fairly anonymous - it just lacks anything memorable.
Some nice details in the Birmingham section. I liked the details, such as being able to pick up and experience the weight of the armour used by soldiers. I also liked the phones dotted around that played voice recordings describing the lives of people who lived in Birmingham throughout history. The items actually had stories attrached to them, and unfortunately that is lacking in the rest of the museum.
There are audio tours for £3 but I wasn't willing to give my card details as security. Entry is free and the building itself is beautiful.
I. Y.
If you ever visit Birmingham do visit the museum. The museum is a museum. Great experience.
B. V.
We went to see Dippy on tour. Much has been said about how great an experience this is, but be warned, if like us you've already been to the natural history museum before, you might end up disappointed. My little one was very underwhelmed to see one dinosaur and the whole experience lasted around 10 minutes. Best to combine with something else, we went to the millennium think tank and he absolutely loved it there. (As did i).
A. V.
No entry fee to put people off visiting. Donations accepted from patrons if they choose to donate. Great tea room. Lots to see. The two hours we spent there was not enough time to get the best from our visit. Definitely worth visiting multiple times.

We had visited in Tearoom . Today is Easter Sunday where is open . Nice and cool and pretty place
D. D.
Excellent museum, well worth a visit. Some great artworks and fine range of exhibits. Also good dinning area and lots of toilets so you could easily spend the day here or just pop in for a tranquil hour or two. The Staffordshire Hoard is one of many highlights. I live in Northampton and often take the train to Birmingham for the day with the museum being a key attraction.
K.
Small Museum, but larger then I expected.
Since it's free it's well worth a wonder around.
All the areas are very small. I liked the mummies but as I said the exhibit is small/limited.
Great free indoor activity especially if you want to get out of the weather for a couple of hours.
K. H.
We visited recently for the Black Sabbath Exhibition and we loved every second. Incredible artefacts and interesting information about the band. We loved how the music was played whilst looking round the exhibition and we thought the fan section at the end was a really nice touch.
M. O.
A great building inside and out. Lovely atmosphere and very easy to walk round to see the wide range of beautiful exhibits. Wheel chair and children friendly with a large children's play area next to the Edwardian Cafe. Walkable from New Str Station (20/30mins approx) but if walking a problem you can get a tram right out side the station, it drops you off opposite the library (5mins approx) the Museum and Art Gallery is about 3mins to the right Give yourself a morning/ afternoon if you're really interested, a little less time if you are just getting interested. I was disappointed with the general guide book which was good for a souvenir and very affordable at £3•99p. I would of liked to have bought one with a bit more substance, with some photos of the permanent exhibits. A very good day out for Art lovers. Mair Oliver.
P. D.
It's a decent museum, but nothing impressive. Could be more interesting, comparing to similar museums in other cities. However, if you have time, it's worth checking out. Free entry is a big plus
T. H.
A fabulous collection of art from ancient to modern. A truly beautiful Edwardian cafe with a splendid menu, outstanding service and affordable prices. Well done Birmingham! This is a jewel amongst many other gems in this great city. Your regeneration is an outstanding example to other cities of vision and civic pride.
S. H.
Fantastic visit. To see Too Cute, great imagination and present in a wacky style
M. D. F.
Lovely place to walk around and check out some art and some history. Some of the exhibits are a bit peculiar, but nevertheless, it's a good time. Great for a rainy day, or feeling like a walk around in a nice and informational museum!
V. G.
The museum is excellent considering it is free to get in. We visited with a 4 year old who really enjoyed the experience. Our daughter has visited museums since a young age and enjoyed herself, so when I asked her if she wanted to visit she was excited.
We were especially interested in the Staffordshire Hoard exhibit due to us living in Stoke-on-Trent. On a number of occasions we have visited our local museum to look at the small display. However it does not compare to the Birmingham exhibition. We spent about an hour within the exhibit. Our daughter loved looking at the different treasures with the magnifying glasses.
Our second favourite exhibit was Birmingham through the ages. I have visited Birmingham since the 19 80's and seen a number of developments. It was interesting to see how the city has developed. Our daughter enjoyed the interactive displays and the mock 1930's kitchen.
If you are visiting Birmingham make sure you visit the museum to appreciate Birmingham in the 21st century and an enjoyable visitor experience.
D. J.
Excellent. Free but donations appreciated. Plenty to see. Starts off seemingly small but like a rabbit warren with lots of interesting displays. Allocate plenty of time to visit or you end up rushing at the end. Plenty for all ages, especially children. Recommended.
A. L.
It was okay but considering it is half term, there is not much for children to do. I just wonder why they would open level 2 - art galleries- rather than level 3 which is Ancient Egyptians, Romans and Greeks.
K. R.
Admission is free. The building is arguably a great work of art, dating to the Victorian Age. I spent about 4 hours touring here and I could have spent more time, but the museum closes at 5:00 PM. It has a wonderful cafe where you can eat English tea with cream and scones among other things. Enjoy!
M. H.
Lovely museum with a couple of nice coffee shops. It does what it says on the tin which is it contains lots of art. I give it 4 stars because it didn't feel very relevant to me as a 25 year old male. I'm not sure what exactly an art museum can do, but perhaps something more engaging like some interactive sections.
W. S.
We went for Dippy on Tour which we enjoyed. We also liked the Vintage teashop. We visited some galleries too. Overall we felt the building was a little down-at-heel and service was underwhelming - many but not all staff didn't seem to care. We used City Hall parking which said it was full but worth going in to check as there were quite a lot of spaces and you don't need to take a ticket to drive and check
A.
Lovely Museum, we went to see 'dippy on tour' and my 6 yo and 4 yo who have been learning about Egyptians loved the ancient Egypt exhibit. They have activities on for children to help keep history interesting. Highly recommended going along and it's free to visit!
C. P.
Absolutely fabulous!!!
Went to see Dippy the dinosaur, which was quite a small exhibit, but was pleasantly suprised at how the museum as a whole had developed since the last time I went.
Lots of variety really well displayed with extremely helpful staff.
It isn't as big as the London museums, but that made it maneagable for a day trip. Well worth a visit.
M. E.
Went here to see the black Sabbath exhibition well worth a visit if you're asabbath fan
S. G.
A place full of stories and treasures. The only disappointment was the cake I had in the Edwardian tearoom. It was dry/stale. The pot of tea was good value and surroundings wonderful. Will return to see more of the artifacts. Entry is free 😊
J. C.
A great museum to visit, right in the heart of the city. Includes a lovely tearoom too. Free entry for all and includes a wide range of exhibitions, including a Roman Empire and archaeology exhibition, artworks that showcase the history of Birmingham. Currently displaying a collection focusing on Modern Women.
Do not be put off by the building works nearby. Well worth a visit. Check out some of the pictures I have uploaded.
J. F.
Visited the Edwardian Tearooms, bought a latte coffee but it came in a tiny coffee cup and despite being disabled and on crutches, I wasn't offered any assistance. My friend and I had soup and were given our butter (for the bread) in cute little kilner jars except her jar contained 4 'rounds' of butter and mine only 2. I also thought it was quite expensive.
Overall, it's a beautiful location and worth a visit but I'm not sure I'd go again.
M. G.
Visited for Dippy the Dinosaur. Great exhibition, lived in the area my entire life and didn't realise all the other exhibitions they have here. Definitely worth exploring. Our 2 young children loved it! Easily accessible with lift access to upper floors which was great for our pushchair. They provide headphones if your little ones get a bit stressed with loud noises in the exhibitions. Excellent staff and customer service.
T. T.
This museum is well worth a visit. It has a surprisingly good collection of art and artifacts, and the Staffordshire hoard too. Loved the Birmingham History section. It outlines the history of the city through the ages and shows some of the industry that made Birmingham what it is.
U.
Excellent. More than excellent. If you like art go. Museum side is also excellent! Staffordshire hoard is very impressive. Free to get in. Please leave a donation though.
t.
I adore this museum, the range of art they have and the opportunity to interact with certain exhibits is amazing. The layout and presentation really encourage deep thought and just general appreciation of the art. 100% recommend a visit here, especially as it's free entry.
P. H.
Lots of great interesting exhibitions and one of the best free cultural activities in Birmingham. We visited the Dippy the Dinosaur exhibition specifically and was very impressed. Lots to engage kids of all ages. Edwardian Tea Room provided plenty of lunch options and dinosaur themed food for children.
G. P.
It's one of the awesome Museum which gives history of Birmingham, Roman history & history of all religions Existence. Art lovers will definately love this place. Please take your time to visit this place. You need minimum 4-5 hour to cover this place. No entry fee for this place. It's walkable Distance from Bull Ring and behind Victoria Square.
M. I.
Interesting museum , evolution of the city in time and is free!
g. b.
pretty cool area to be fair
M. A.
A great museum to visit for either a short period or a whole day. Lots to see across different areas of life and history. We looked forward to seeing the Staffordshire Hoard.
V. S.
What a lovely museum at the heart of Birmingham! Wide ranging collections with some excellent pieces; showcasing contemporary art; temporary exhibitions; a good shop and an excellent cafe. Definitely worth visiting & not to be missed if you're visiting the city and between shopping and eating!
P.
I've been coming to this museum ever since I was a little girl, and it never fails to amaze me! The museum has changed since the early 2000's but it still has that first-time experience charm everytime I walk through those doors and up those steps!
Brilliant museum!
J. H.
Visited the Museum for the Black Sabbath exhibition, absolutely amazing to read all about the band and their life in the early days.
We ran out of time to look around the rest of the museum sadly, but if we return we will definitely visit the beautiful building!
T. M.
Half a dozen times at least I've been to Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery in the past few years. Wonderful collection of paintings (one focus is on the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood), pottery, sculptures - plus a healthy dose of local history and Ancient Egypt. It will take you hours & hours to explore. Far above average café, some lockers for your stuff, and of course the great architecture around it. Entry is free, photography allowed. Don't hesitate!
C. P. (. S.
Awesome space especially if you like history. I would suggest making a day of it and have lunch in the cafe and definitely buying something for the gift shop. Did I mention, the entrance is free?!? Definitely something to do when it's snowing out or it's too cold to do an outdoor activity.
R. M. (.
Much improvement from a few years back. There is a good variety between artifacts and art work. Whilst the few Buddhist items in the collection were good, I would have loved to have seen more. There is a very good section on the history of Birmingham which had been added since my previous visit some years ago. The Staffordshire Hoard was impressive.
D. K.
Visited in Jan20. Lots of paintings but light on history. This is intended to be the central real-world source of information on the history of Birmingham. The presentation about the world wars was good. The display about the the English Civil War was small. I found nothing about the Industrial Revolution, the influence of the Chamberlains (which was significant) or the present day economy. There are significant opportunities for improvement.
M. W.
The Black Sabbath Exhibition is incredible
D. E.
Must-visit museum and gallery, one of the best in the UK.
B. R.
I have had a great time , lots history and arts , amazing educational place ...
H. H.
A great museum, the art galleries in particular are really nice, the people and Birmingham history sections I felt could have had more interesting details (get a peaky blinders exhibition it will go down a treat 😉). The staff were all incredibly friendly and I found the experience very enjoyable.
c.
Excellent (and free) museum and art gallery. Staffordshire Hoard is a must, but the art collection is also well worth the visit, along with the Egyptian and near East archaeology (time was limited, so didn't see everything!). Building itself is stunning. Cafe is excellent too. Toilets could do with with some improvement.
s. t.
Great place to visit and the Victorian Tea Room is lovely. The only negative thing I have to say is the scones with the cream tea could be a lot bigger as they were bite size little balls, it's not what I would call a scone.
D.
What a great museum!!
I was really pleasantly surprised by this museum, it's MUCH bigger inside than it looks. And what a variety of collections! I especially liked the cigarette lighter collection which was a different thing to see.
Sadly we did not have enough time to see everything and so will definitely be back.
A highly recommended visit!
F. A.
The museum is a great trip out. Housed in a beautiful building it has something for everyone. If you are into history, art or are just looking for a nice restaurant, this is the place to go. The Staffordshire Hoard is an absolute must see too.
B. U.
The guided tour is very educational. Loved seeing the old masters all the way through to modern works. Can't beat seeing original works and learning about the different genres, subject matter and techniques.
A. P.
The diversity of Birmingham is what makes it so beautiful ; the whole world is here. The museum gives you a fantastic insight into the beginnings of this amazing city from those helping to abolish the slave trade to modern day artists from all backgrounds. Go have a look. It's FREE
D. N.
I Like to visit here every now and then to catch up with the progress of the hoard collection,At the moment they have a replica of the battle helmet found in pieces, apparently made to close tolerance of the original, the craftsmanship of the exhibits is stunning,a must see personally speaking. Last but not least, the rest of the museum and Art displays are more than worth anyone’s time for perusal.Free admission and very recommended.
l.
Free entry! Great for the whole family. Lovely cafe that's reasonably priced! Well laid out, bright and clean, the toilets however were questionable, I feel that's more the public's fault rather than the museum staff.
F. F.
Full of valuable paintings, you need to spare a day to see them all with pleasure. Sometimes short term art works are coming, don't miss them. There is a play room for children inside the building. I like this place, thanks for the free admission.
R. D.
A hidden gem and a place you can easily while away a day in. The guided tour was a rare treat - albeit it was a tour of the guide's favourites. When you are done feeding your cultural appetite, you can relax and enjoy the café/restaurant - excellent food, at modest prices with outstanding service. A place to return to wherever time permits.
D. S.
Lots of hidden treasures within, from paintings and sculpture to interactive local history. Helpful staff to guide you through the maze of rooms. A great place to visit just for half an hour over lunch or to spend a little more time
Z. A.
A very nice museum and very nice art, it's a nice place to visit with friends
M. K.
Best place to go with friends and discover the legacy of art and culture.
A. S.
All I did was sit and drink coffee whilst listening to choral music in the Round Room last Friday lunchtime, so I don't feel particularly qualified to rate this place more comprehensively. Having worked in Birmingham city centre for 10 years now I really want to get to know it's cultural life in greater detail now. I'm once again left reflecting upon a rich cultural heartbeat that pulses unsuspectingly in our second city; one that can easily be overlooked.
M. J.
Very beautiful art pieces and places, a trip through history of the arts.
d. d.
What a great experience. This is one of the joys of coming to visit Birmingham.
Beautiful, large, Victorian halls with a wide range of exhibitions and displays to browse. The Staffordshire Hoard is amazing, and is the largest hoard of Anglo-Saxon gold and silver metalwork ever found.
Do visit the restaurant. Victoriana at its' best. You could be in Paxton's Crystal Palace. Good food too.
Pull out from Birmingham's bustling streets for a spell of tranquility.
L. T.
Just generally a great place with a lot to offer.
L. P.
An incredible free museum & art gallery.
A maze of intrigue full of classical and contemporary pieces covering all eras of history.
When I visited on this occasion they had Dippy the Diplodocus which shows some of the stature held by the museum.
The building itself if a beautiful sight and the interior lives up the to the external beauty.
There is a gift shop and cafe, although the cafe does seem rather pricey. It is justified in with the museum being free to enter however.
s. s.
Birmingham Museum is amazing place to visit, It was my first visit. It is a beautiful big old building with lot to see and easy to access. Museum got good collection of art work with lots of religious exhibitions and history. Well organised and displayed art and historical stuff will show you exact picture about the history. Great Edwardian tea room is amazing.
Clean, inviting and very friendly staff. Great place to visit.
E. T.
Great works of art in many forms; paintings, metalwork, ceramics, wood and superb stained glass gallery. Pre-Raphaelites gallery, Birmingham people & places really interesting. Beautiful building, stunning inside and Edwardian Tea Room to finish off!
M. W.
The breadth of exhibits in here could keep me interested for a long time. We had specifically come to see the Staffordshire hoard which keeps developing as more is learnt about the find, in particular Peter the volunteer steward who showed a small group of us round and whose knowledge greatly added to our visit.
A. M.
A must see when your in the city ..very interesting displays in the history of Birmingham. The gallery is also worth a look , period paintings and lots more
Also admired the interactive stations for young and old , it keeps us all engaged and interested and curious . Well done to the curators and the city .
L. H.
A beautiful museum where you can learn about the history of England and of the city a bit up to the present day. It also has some other nice expositions, including the ancient civilizations. It is not spectacular nor out of the ordinary, but then again, it's Birmingham, not the Louvre. Also, for a free entry you cannot ask for better.
Highly recommend it! I had a great time there!
S. W.
Coming from a village in Norfolk its always incredible to be able to walk into a beautiful building full of works of art. Some paintings are always there (like visiting an old friend) and other exhibitions change. Birmingham is very fortunate to have this awesome collection right there for everyone to share.
B. C.
Really interesting museum. Fantastic as it's free.
M. L.
Quite nice, very interactive, great for kids. Don't take audio guide waste of money not much information in it. Worth a visit if you would like to find out Birminghams history , lots of beutiful paintings, ancient egypt part is ok. They have lovely cafe/ tea rooms.
N. C.
Very nice building, and free entry! Loads more exhibitions than I thought it had or remember it having. Clear sign posts to the different rooms with a really nice layout. There are also some nice interactions which are engaging.
N. L.
I didn't expect the museum to be so rich in exhibits! One can definitely spend a whole day here ( I gave up after 3 hrs because my feet were aching) It is free to enter, though you're encouraged to donate--it is definitely worth the donation!
I visited the Night at the Museum Exhibition (I suppose this one is temporary). The artworks are amusing, though I wish the exhibit labels can be clearer, because I had a huge trouble identifying which work corresponds to which label.
M. W.
Treated to afternoon tea in the Edwardian tea rooms by my daughter fabulous. Lovely environment, staff lovely and attentive. Museum wonderful so much to see is free entry.
J. A.
Its quite big and bit boring. If you love to know about historical arts, you better go there. The good part was the mummies of the ancient world. You get to know a lot about history how people used to live and what type of equipments they used to have.
R. D.
Lovely few hours wandering through the Art Gallery, stunning items, could wander there all day. Then coffee and muffin or soup of the day and crusty bread in the absolutely beautiful Edwardian Tea Room. Well worth a visit, AND free entry
S. E.
Absolutely amazing day out...Always love going here with family
S. C.
Amazing place great for all ages. Lovely staff. Went here after a very disappointing visit to sealife.
Couldn't believe it. My 12 Yr old loved it so did my nephews 6 and 1
S. T.
Not the best museum we have visited. Some of the displays were very dated and needed a fresher look and update of the way the exhibits are displayed. Best area for me was Birmingham through the decades. Some very interesting information and interactive displays. The video and audio of the war in Birmingham was excellent really enjoyed listening to this.
J. W.
They gave me a map & explained the map to me & sent me on my way!! I was overcome with emotion in these halls!Even the Native American exhibit!!! I suppose since I share heritage with both, it touched me! I was excited & joyful to be able to see these things. AND FOR FREE.
V. S.
Great exhibits with loads of variety and with the added bonus of some child-friendly activities during school holidays. My children love it there... and it's indoors and free!
M. D.
Amazing history stored up in those walls from all areas of the world on different areas such as religion, dressing and mummification. Found the 3d painting by Patrick Hughes so amazing.
Try and get there early, many floors and many things to see. Its alot to take in.
G. B.
Too much to see in one day. There's something for everyone here, of course, starting with the Staffordshire Hoard which interests kids of all ages. Take your time, relax in the Edwardian Tea Lounge, which is a museum in its own right.
A. Z.
Wonderful museum, with some very interesting collections, including amongst others, works of English Pre-Raphaelites, Anglo-Saxon weaponry, Greek and Roman antiquities, as well as works from the Ars Nova to the 20th century. Entrance is free, and there is a lovely tea room past the gift shop.
박.
Especially I like gallery there.
Staff was kind. Lots of things to see.
K. W.
A nice free place to go with the kids on a rainy day
S. M.
FREE ENTRY. BRILLIANT!
This was the 1st time we visited Birmingham and we loved this museum.
The story telling session was Brilliant and we loved it. Highly recommend for all age group.

Just visited the Home of Metal exhibition. It was brilliant. There was a lady called Jess who was really helpful and kind to my 8 year old son. Highly recommended and great staff 👍

Really nice to be able to get out & see this place open again!
J. L.
Love it, an oasis in the city. So easy to get lost amongst the art. Nice tea shop. Interesting exhibitions. Shop great for Christmas baubles too
M. P.
Very good... Toilets were a bit of a miss though
M. A. a. F.
Went to see Dippy the dinosaur on tour at the museum. The exhibition was great, the rest of the museum was good to, with the only issue being some of the interactive screens dotted about not working.
That said I would go back as I didn't see everything.
A. H.
It's is a beautiful old building. There is lots to see and many different exhibitions. Not as much for kids as I would have expected but they have tried and it's definitely worth a visit. The mummy's were really awesome!
N.
Great place to take kids. Particularly enjoyed the fantastic history of Birmingham gallery...with lots to see and do. Entrance free but donation points are numerous to help keep place open and free.
D. H. R.
Great museum and Art Gallery. Free Admission. Spacious, light and airy. Knowledgeable staff. Fascinating building. Beautiful Edwardian Tea Room serving great food and coffee.

FREE ENTRY. BRILLIANT!
This was the 1st time we visited Birmingham and we loved this museum.
The story telling session was Brilliant and we loved it. Highly recommend for all age group.
J. H.
I visit the tea rooms here quite regularly which is a great place to meet with colleagues and friends and have a great cuppa too in lovely surroundings. Gets quite busy around late morning from experience, but never struggled to get a table.
F. Q.
Love this place incredibly. It has been a whole since I had visited. Would love to see more pieces/history re Egyptian/ Greeks/Roman's. Staffordshire Hoard is beautifully presented. Love the replicas
P. M.
Great place to go to if you like all things artistic. Didn't have time to go to the shop or the cafeteria. Technically it's free to walk round but please try to leave a small donation. We cannot afford to take anything for granted. Birmingham is on the up.
A. M.
A must visit for anyone in Brum. Free entry to an array of art and history, with a truly awesome interactive walk of Birmingham through the ages. I've visited as a couple, family and lead school trips here. It's always a pleasure to visit. Also regularly has great exhibitions to look out for.
R. G.
Good place to visit and free
E. D.
We could enjoy the Dino tour for free and there is a kids room upstairs where are lots of activities for the little ones once they get bored. A big gallery with lots to be seen. We enjoyed our time there.
I. R.
A really great place to visit. We've been twice in past year and not seen everything yet. The Staffordshire Hoard is worth a visit on its own: beautifully and intelligently presented with plenty of hands-on stuff. Edward Burne-Jones gallery definitely worth a look with plenty of other examples from this local Pre-Raphaelite dotted about Birmingham. Enjoyed cake and coffee in the Edwardian tearoom. Friendly staff.
H. O.
Really great place to bring the kids. Dippy the dinosaur is there for a limited time.
S. H.
There is a great
Set up of how Birmingham got started and how it developed. The art gallery has superb paintings but the Egyptian area is not as good as when I was a young person. It all worth checking out.
T. W.
The building itself is amazing, all of the old stone fittings are something else. There is plenty to learn about here with mainly pottery and art pieces. The cafe was really nice too.
L. M. (.
When I was little the museum seemed really big and now it's feels small and feel like they have lost alot of space. There use to be an activity area for children to play and learn that has gone and moved by the restaurant and it hasn't got half the stuff that was in the old activity area.
D. B.
Went to see Dippy on his travels around the country. Nice to not to have to take a trip to London.
Also had another look at the haud while I was there...still find it difficult to believe that someone dug all that (and more besides), out of one spot in a field not too far from the A5.
Absolutely amazing!!
S. G.
A place full of stories and treasures. The only disappointment was the cake I had in the Edwardian tearoom. It was dry/stale. The pot of tea was good value and surroundings wonderful. Will return to see more of the artifacts. Entry is free 😊

Visited the Museum for the Black Sabbath exhibition, absolutely amazing to read all about the band and their life in the early days. …

All floors are not yet open. Although I love the building and the art, BMAG really could do with a bit of a refurb as is looking very very tired.
Y. G.
A kids friendly museum.

FREE ENTRY. BRILLIANT!
This was the 1st time we visited Birmingham and we loved this museum.
The story telling session was Brilliant and we loved it
J. M.
Very impressive. This is much more than a provincial gallery. There are works of international importance here. The building itself conveys the opulence of Birmingham's industrial past. The cafe was very nice and a great place to take …

Saffordshire hoard. Amazingly displayed. Well explained and presented.
Gift show excellent variety.
Staff in gift shop, cafe and on exhibition floors very engaging and helpful.

Interesting exhibits, focus is mainly on art. The Stafford hoard is amazing to look at. Has two places to eat in. The building it's located in can be appreciated by itself for the architecture. Missing a star because the toilet/baby change was unpleasant and didn't have a sign off sheet anywhere to say it had been checked/cleaned
T. F.
Good variety of displays. Id like them to add a nominal door charge to attract more significant attractions/collection £1-2 per person no concessions to keep out the riff raff
r.
This is an amazing place. I visited the Black Sabbath exhibition in the adjoining Gas Hall. The Museum and Art Gallery entrance is free but this extra had an entrance fee which was well worth it.
P. G.
Free to get in, large museum with some interesting collections. Nice tea room too. Enjoyed the current communities gallery (Birmingham Irish collection) and some interesting designs for public art spaces!
M. M.
Beautiful building. Amazing collections. And free !
J. S.
This is a really good place to meet your friends and have a good time. The staff are really friendly and always do everything they can to help you feel comfortable and happy. I would highly recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a fun time with their friends. The wait time is low and the drinks are really good. Excellent prices and everyone is always lovely to be around at this plave.
P. B.
Great work guys. I had a great work around. Seeing Di Vincis drawings was a highlight, not so sure on the So Cute exhibit. But had a memorable visit.
B. A.
Good in all, very nice and educational and cultural, all the history on Birmingham very good. But it could have activities to get children engaged. But an over all summary from me it's a good source of knowledge on history.
👍👍👍
R. F.
Wonderful range of paintings and museum artifacts, some general and some relating to the story of Birmingham and the area. The Staffordshire hord exhibit is amazing. Cafes are good but not sensational. Worth a visit and it's free!
