Reviews of Gartell Light Railway

The railway itself was very well presented, everything neat and tidy and very clean. The 2 gentleman in Pinesway Junction signal box were also very pleasant and had a good conversation with them about signal box experiences. Unfortunately that is the plus side to the railway which is why I gave three stars.
Whilst queueing for our first ride the train was full so was asked to wait at the bottom of the footbridge, the lady in front was explaining to her young child that they had to wait. The man who looked more like a farmer than a railway member of staff in quite a rude and blunt tone said "well that would be handy, wouldn't it". After most of the staff seemed to be walking around aimlessly and looking as if they would rather be somewhere else.
Lovely railway, poor staff, will I visit again, not for a very long time.

Perhaps not the easiest to find but well worth the effort. Friendly staff, a roomy cafe and fascinating ride. Not what you expect to find in a rural farmyard. Steam and diesel engines performing well on a narrow gauge line the follows part if the sadly missed S&D. Check their website for opening days/times before you go.

Lovely light railway tucked away nicely in the countryside. The train ride was perfect for my family - especially my 4 year loved it! A hidden gem for all ages!

Finally got 2 visit this hidden gem 4 the 1st time!
Fab day out 4 train enthusiasts of all ages; the kids loved it.
Nanna & Grandpa could easily access main shop/café via a level crossing.
A model train club had their prized models on display - BONUS 🌟
Café well priced.
Would definitely go back again & again.

Stumbled across this place on bank holiday Monday and my daughter who’s 6 really enjoyed it, cute quaint trains running all day, also a cafe and shop. You pay once and can use the tickets all day, I did think the adult prices were a little steep, £9 - if you only popped in and went on one train, kids are £5 staff are friendly and dressed authentically would recommend

What a little gem. Great location. Very friendly and helpful volunteers. This was a great find and I will go again next month.

We went to a show here and will be returning to take a proper look around and ride the trains later in the year hopefully, but in the meantime we have enjoyed our visit 😀 ❤ …

Took my son's family along to see the trains. Grandson 13 months old loved it and did two trips today that was his first time on a train. Plan to visit more often and make a day of it by taking a picnic.

Private narrow gauge light railway, only has open days a few times a year. Usually bank holiday Mondays, check before you travel. Well worth a visit, kids young and old will love it.

Also has small cafe in hall used for model railway exhibition on the day I visited.
