Reviews of Mary Shelley's Grave
Should be rebadged as Mary Wollestonecraft's grave. The first published feminist book should, I feel, trump the first science fiction novel. The presence of Percy Shelley's heart might also merit a mention!
It's a old memorialize grave . But the church new to it really cool vintage looking
First time there. Very impressive to visit my favourite writer's tomb. I'll recall this moment.
I had no idea that the author of Frankenstein was a resident in Bournemouth!
This is one of Bournemouth 's historical sites.
Not much to see, to be honest.
Fair price
Nice place
Busy enough
Close to city center
Quite interesting and in a lovely old churchyard.
Simple grave marker for a magnificent writer
See st peters church rating.
Could be in two minds about this place? 😛
Good breakfast!
Definitely a dramatic addition to the local scenery and a chance for a meal across the road or a trip to the church.
Peaceful and historic
Great atmophere
We visited in August, on a leaden gray day, with drizzle. A day in keeping with the famous book written by Mary Shelley. Beautiful, evocative place, somewhat neglected and deserving of a little pampering. The beautiful and cozy church. The place is an old cemetery with surface burials. Your visit is highly recommended.
Got to say the place is a bit neglected there is not a signal only the board a few feet away and is very old You must look for the grave because there is no special plaque that marks the site or flowers or anything, just a board below pointing out the different prominent people buried in the ares and it is worn and blurred it is a good place to go
Typical English pub, great choice of dishes, amazing caramelized pork ribs, fantastic fried potatoes, they alone would deserve a visit, many varieties of beers, a great place, we went several times and always ate very well.
nice idea but not well taken care of, they could have looked after the area better, there is some information that is all faded and a lot of humidity on the noticeboards which makes it impossible to read the story. If they looked after it better it would be more usable
I loved it!
Very organised.
good
Mary Shelley's grave, the author of Frankenstein novel, who died and buried in Bournemouth. It's a small cemetery garden and big Church.
Beautiful quiet churchyard although in town centre with tombs for one of my favourite poets and his family.
So easy to find. Head for shoppers car park and a short walk takes you to churchyard . There are spaces on main road but I always think it safer to go to a car park when not sure of where I am going. Went in to church and it is so beautiful. Not sure what Mary Shelley or her mother would make of having a pub named after her though!!! Wetherspoons called The Mary Shelley directly opposite church, think it would have been nice to have pictire of Mary Shelley on other side of the sign in recognition of her achievement.
Easy to find, well preserved, well respected. It's a grave, what else would do you ask for by a grave...
Very easy to find ,there is a plack on the wall on the church yard and a information plack/notice in the church yard giving details of the grave etc and Mary's family
Frankenstein had a significant influence on my life. I'm honored to be able to pay my respects at Mary Shelley's grave.
Peacefull place for a grave. Just in my opinion foot path throu grave must be closed. Specially weekend night drunk people everywhere
Lovely little church
