I was very excited to finally get here after reading about it over many years. Well worth the wait!

Wonderful display, knowledgeable volunteers, even reluctant husband found it interesting.

I spent over an hour looking around the shop and the exhibition, yesterday. I found it enlightening and entertaining as I learned about quilt making, quilt pattern and their rich history. Thank you, Jen, for your efforts preserving this aspect of Welsh culture and for your time explaining it to me.

I loved this place. I only recently learned about Welsh quilts, so I was really excited to find the centre. Jen Jones was there when I visited, and she provided even more information than the really detailed information cards. These quilts are truly works of art.

This little gem is hidden away in a beautiful old town hall in the quaint village of Lampeter, which also houses a lovely little cafe. I was lucky enough to attend with the owner of Calico Kate, the amazing fabric shop just along from the museum.
Make no mistake this exhibition is not just for quilters, especially as they house smaller exhibits of other crafts such as paintings from local artists.
The main quilt collection itself has been beautifully curated with information on each piece taking you through the story of the quilt. There is also currently a second exhibit from Sandy Lush displaying her breathtaking wholecloth creations.
If your knowledge of the hand quilting process is lacking, do not concern yourself because as you wend your way through the walls covered in exquisite hanging pieces and admire the bed sets with quilts of all colours and designs draped over them, you can be in no doubt that you are experiencing a true piece of Welsh heritage. I defy anyone not to stand in front of some of these creations and not to be taken aback by the sheer accuracy and quality of the designs, especially knowing that this had been completed painstakingly by hand.
On our visit we broke up the session by having some lunch in the cafe before returning to listen to the video presentation on the centre, quilts and other exhibits. We were then able to watch some nice design software to show how the wholecloth pieces had been designed by Sandy Lush before our visit was done.
There is a little shop at the front, run by volunteers, where there are many blankets, quilt sets and other small curiosities to remind yourself of the visit and often Jen Jones herself, who owns many of the quilts, can be found around the Centre and was happy to answer our questions.
So whether you are a quilter or not a visit to the Welsh Quilt Centre is a must to not only appreciate some true Welsh craft but also to understand a very important part of Welsh heritage.

What a shame this place will be closing at the end of the year! Get along and see the last exhibition if you can. The quilts are beautifully displayed, the colours and the details in them are truly awesome! There's inspiration aplenty for quilters here, knowledgeable staff and a great collection of books too. I also liked the exhibition of samplers, most created between the 1870s and 1890s.
The whole building is accessible and there's even a big bowl of water for visiting dogs.
