What a way to honour all those Indian army personnel in the British army who lost their lives during WW1!
This was where those who passed away were cremated according to their own …

Beautiful place set in the Ditching Beacons. Parked at jack and Jill windmill car park and is about 45-1hr walk to it. There is a nice little horse wagon cafe also by the car park. Once you get there there are lovley views and a bit of history on the monument. Great walk

This is a very pleasant walk. If on foot coming from Brighton, don't try to walk up the slip road from the A23 onto the junction with the A27. Take the small footpath on your right immediately before the roundabout and walk up Vale Avenue. Miles safer and cleaner too. Then turn to your left and cross over the bridge. Then you have to head northwards, to the small lay-by where there is usually a snack van parked. Turn right there and there is the signpost to the Chattri about 100 metres on the left hand side.

A wonderful surprise - beautiful, elegant monument in a perfect, peaceful position. Great views and such a moving place - lots of walking routes surrounding it - very memorable and well worth visiting.

It’s a good perfect place to honour and pay tribute the heroes from WW1..
a quit place in the middle of the farm..
Also for the people who wants to get here, there is no way you can park a car close to Chattri, but theres a walk path from the road that you can park your car…

Chattri ; The Memorial commemorates 53 men of the Indian Army who died and were cremated at Patcham Down ghat during the First World War. It was a nice beautiful walk from Sussex uni to Chattri and back. A must to go place for nature enthusiastic and walk lover.

A beautiful homage to Hindu and Sikh soldiers during WW1. A beautiful walk there from Brighton and plenty of seats for a rest. I love that you can see the wind farm on the ocean from here on a clear day.

Beautiful Place to visit. About 30 mins walk there and back but allow more time to sit and view at leisure. Parking on the road/ track. Then a gentle incline across grazing area. As you approach you will need to walk down a hill slightly. Benches are their to rest and take in the view

Great to see the memorial and the history it carries. The surrounding scenery and view are beautiful. We enjoyed the hike a lot!

A sobering experience, as it always is at a memorial to selfless men and women so far from home.
Their sacrifice and bravery remind us that freedom isn't free; it is often only won and kept by those prepared to risk and lay down their lives for it.
We owe it to them to never forget them, to carry a memory of them in our hearts and to try and live honourably and decently, for without them and their sacrifice we would not have that chance.
