Reviews of Royal Pavilion

Great to explore if you're into history or architecture. Walking tour was great n staff r on hand in most rooms. Worth to see how King George VI and after that Queen Victoria lived there. U can get an audio guide tour for more detailed information of each room.
A unique experience, this Royal Palace is on it's own. U really have to visit to take it in.The settings in the rooms are very well done, the restoration of the Saloon is magnificent. The atmosphere with chandeliers just amazing.
A must for visitors and Brighton and Hove residents.
R. G.
Very beautiful building in Brighton. The inside is very amazing definitely go in if you have the time. There is so much to look at in a lot of rooms. The decorations are really insane in a good way. You can download the app and use that as a audio guide recommend using a headset makes it easier to listen
G. M.
Absolutely stunning! Very well kept, fantastic displays of antique and unique pieces. There are QR codes with vocal guide all over, so you can listen to as you walk about the house, as well as explanatory boards. Kept in immaculate conditions.
Enjoyed it enormously and will go back. The ticket is valid for an entry also in another site not far from here.
Cons: the gardens are in need of some tlc! There is so much potential but it’s mostly grass with some trees.
Staff was friendly and professional.
C. M.
A hidden gem... Great feature you can scan a code and get an audio tour for free... Very informative!! Beautiful and fabulous decor... The staff are very knowledgeable. Buy a full price ticket and visit all year for one price. If youre an English Heritage member you get a discount. 10 out of 10 for this attraction
S. I.
Beautiful piece of history, easily the most stunning British palace I've visited thus far.
The tea room inside is no longer open. Your tickets will get you in on the day with re-entry for the next few MONTHS if you hang onto your ticket. There is an audio guide available if you scan QR code from room to room.
There is a cafe in the gardens and a gift shop at the end of the tour / entry to the palace.
F. S.
Historic place, worth a visit… ticket allow yohh in to go back within a year of first visit… great idea of visit if day is rainy or cloudy. Their shop has some serious beautiful items for the home and/or gifts. I recommend it!

Definitely one of the best tourist destinations of Brighton. It may look a bit dated on the outside but don't be fooled. The inside is an amazing restauration project, going on for a century or so, of one of the most lavish of palaces. George the IV was one influential party person and chose to live the good life. No party or dinner to big. However also a sad man who was clearly trying to compensate for something. The result is one of the most spectacular palaces I have ever seen.
S. h.
A very beautiful palace, I have been several times to brighten, but never knew about this palace until one day I came across it. Very beautiful from outside, definitely a place to visit to take nice pictures. The park around it is also very neat and beautiful. Will most definitely visit this place again. Next time will get a ticket to go inside. Would be nice to see the place from inside too, am sure it’s beautiful.
M.
I was thinking ques would be out the door we went in before our booking time.Adult tickets were £17 . What a fascinating Pavillon.the architecture is mind blowing. And the inside will take your breath away.takes about and hour to see. Its best to bring your own earphones as QR codes are available to download the commentary.
S. S.
It's okay. The ticket price is quiet high and I don't think its justified . Most people don't go inside and just take pictures of the building from outside . We were confused too if we should see it from inside as very few people were purchasing ticket. Can be boring for kids or even adults who are not interested in history. I think they should lower the ticket price to £10 in order to attract more audience and that would probably justify its worth.
D.
Absolutely amazing building and collection of furniture and artifacts from all over the world. The staff are very friendly and have a great depth of knowledgeable.
Really good way to spend a couple of hours, learning more about Brighton's history and how the British monarchy had untilised the building in the past.
A great place to visit with a superb grandeur, very much worth it!
H. C.
A beautiful Indian inspired Palace with an oriental style inside in the middle of Brighton!
Once you buy tickets, they are valid for a year.
Nice to wander around and see how George IV then Queen Victoria lived. Friendly staff. Very elegant interior. Plenty of toilets throughout the Palace. Stairs up to the first floor. You will have any bags searched on entering.
A. L.
Immaculately restored and presented well. A fair bit of the building you don't get to see but understandable. Ticket price very good value when considered it can be reused for entry for an entire year.
T. C.
They have a mobile guide that explains every station so I learnt a lot. Very odd to think that I was walking in and out of rooms that were once accessible by royals only. In awe of how well decorated it is- well worth a visit!
S. D.
A wonderful and bizarre place, perhaps a monument to excess, but more importantly to the incredible artists and crafts people who built and decorated it. Indian on the outside and Chinese on the inside, it is an amazing display of the finest decorative art you can imagine. The major state rooms are just breathtaking. It's a little expensive, but your ticket does last for a year, so good value if you visit more than once. It's a miracle it has survived in such a good state and a tribute to the incredible restoration work.
e. b.
Amazing place we'll worth a visit! ☺ 2 for 1 with train tickets, lovely gift shop staff so helpful and knowledgeable about the rooms and displays, beautifully preserved Palace. Amazing art work the micro mosaic was astounding along with the hand knotted carpets.
N. Y.
Beautiful palace with lovely colours and great history. You can get an audio guide to learn more about the different rooms and also ask staff, who are very knowledgeable.
K. M.
What an absolutely stunning place. If you love beautiful places and history, this is a must. We'll worth the admission, as it's a pass for a whole year.
S. D.
beautiful architecture.....however the entry fees is very high....not sure if its worth it.....but you can still roam outside in the surrounding park for free and enjoy the beauty of the wonderful domes
S. G.
Initially I thought the price was a little steep especially as no discounts for seniors or veterans😒however after wandering around at our own pace for 2.5 hours I can certainly say how wrong I was. Such amazing history and unbelievably fabulous decor 😍 The ticket you buy is valid for a year but living in the North we may not be this way again in the next year but if you are local further visits with this ticket would be valuable. Well worth the experience.
K. F.
Such an amazing place. Breathtaking decor and so beautifully restored. I would highly recommend coming here if you have a gap in your day. Lots of nice things in the gift shop too, and very friendly staff.
K. G.
If you love History then this is a Fantastic place to visit. It's a must if your are visiting Brighton. You won't be disappointed!
D. M.
Another Brighton classic a great park around it that you can visit for free and also enjoy the pavilion that is inspired by Indian and Chinese architecture it's very exotic to see something like this in Brighton
L.
Impressive architecture! The council has done a good job restoring and maintaining the Palace. Really like the details presented around the Palace, and the satirical pictures of George IV as well! There's a garden outside that you can wander around.
F. W.
Breathtaking architecture situated in a beautiful and very well maintained open garden/park. The perfect spot for a picnic with friends or a day trip with the family. Highly recommended visiting when in Brighton!
K. B.
I visited for free by using Art Fund membership. It is a very lavishly decorated and designed palace that seems to represent the personality of King George IV who commissioned it and lived there.
T. B.
Rather garish Chinese influenced decor, inside the Indian inspired architecture. Expertly crafted, if not a touch ugly. Surprisingly offers no views of the sea, which was much to Victoria's disappointment. Fascianting to see how the other half lived. Although, it reminds me of what you might see under the Tsars.
P. C.
Excellent building. I will be visiting again. You need to go inside, it's a must. Lot's of English history here.
V. P.
A beautiful building with an interesting history. The audioguide that I could access on my phone was well balanced between informative enough to enjoy each room and spot some highlights but not too long. The staff I spoke to were very knowledgeable, and showed me extra pictures and looked up information. The staff and audioguide make this good value for money, especially if you spend time in the small exhibitions also there, about the restoration of one of the rooms, and the building's history during WW1.
P. T.
Really wasn't expecting such a great experience. The small entry space left me underwhelmed, then we entered the main building and WOW. Had an amazing time with lots to see, informative staff and info boards. Learning how to went from Royal palace to near dereliction then back to what it is now was fascinating.
C. B.
Knowledgable staff who are happy to share their expertise which adds to the experience.
Free guide available via smart phone and free WiFi in the building.
Ticket valid for return visits for a year.
For the less mobile there are shallow steps to the first floor and occasional places to rest.
Toilet on the first floor seemed to be permanently occupied (or locked). Tea room wasn't open either.
A. H.
Not been for years. Great to see how much renovation has been done. We'll worth a visit.
R. T.
George IV's pleasure palace well worth a visit when you're in Brighton. Expensive to go in, but the grounds are freely accessible with a nice cafe or plenty of room for a picnic.
J. P.
An absolutely breathtaking home! The sheer decadence of this place is overwhelming. Truly remarkable; beautiful in every way. Definitely worth the ticket price if you are interested in this type of experience.
A. C.
Amazing building, wished we got there earlier and had time to visit it.
K. S.
Amazing palatial just so dramatic especially the music room..wow. really enjoyed our visit, will go again.
S. P.
A small piece of my Indian heritage in the midst of Brighton!
Beautiful place! Nice and quite location!
Worth a visit.
A. B.
Although the Pavilion looks aged from the outside, nothing can prepare you for the stunning interior and how well restored and maintained it's been. Every room is a visual feast, and I can highly recommend bringing a pair of earpods/earphones with you so you can access the audio guide on your phone; every room has a different audio clip you can access with history about the space and callouts for some things to look out for. Staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable.
J. W.
Had a fabulous time. Really helpful knowledgeable staff and a great extra exhibit to enjoy
D. C.
Absolutely beautiful palace, very different from a lot of stately homes and palaces in this country. Obviously very inspired by the Orient inside, outside it looks more Indian, very ornate, stunning wallpaper from China in a lot of the rooms. There is a gift shop with some nice items to purchase, toilets in palace, lovely grounds, plenty of room to just sit and people watch, have a picnic etc, well worth a visit, takes approx 1 1/2 to 2 hours to go round
C. M.
This is a better value for money than the Brighton museum
The Royal Pavilion is proof that UK history is interesting enough in itself and there’s no need to load museums with stolen artwork
I love the restoration work they’re doing at the Royal Pavilion
My favorite room was the dining room because it made me feel like I was in scene from downtown abbey😂
G. B.
Beautiful place, worth visiting. Long live our gracious Queen!
C. V.
Unique and facinating memorial to the highly individualistic personality and love of exotic architecture and objects of King George IV.
K. S.
Party Retreat of King George IV that has been converted to a museum... Anyone interested in History and love for antic architecture might fancy a visit but there Lot to explore in Brighton then taking £16 annual pass to this place...
A. T.
The only building I have ever visited that has made me smile in some rooms, feel emotional to the point of tears in another, and gasp in astonishment in one. I am in awe of this place.
M. P.
Lovely place with great guides! The care put in each exhibit room is unreal. The staff is very friendly and happy to give extra information about the rooms. At the time I visited there was a section of the building that was closed to the public (presumably for renovation). Overall a very pleasant experience and I am looking forward to visiting again!
P. C.
We were really impressed with the pavilion. Not only is the building itself absolutely beautiful, and the gardens well maintained but the inside has been renovated to a very high standard. It was a great visit and certainly worth the price!
J. A.
Wow! Just amazing levels of opulence and splendor. I think the tour would be better if it ended in the really over the top rooms as after you've seen those the other rooms seem almost plain. Still you won't believe the expense and madness of the whole thing.
E. V.
Beautiful gardens, the flowers actually smell really nice here. It felt like an organic place 😁 most of the time flowers don’t really smell. Here it was amazing to admire. It adds an unique touch to these gardens the Royal pavilion. Didn’t get a chance to go inside, plenty stuff to see outside. And take photos of the building from outside.
L. W.
Beautiful historic building, worth visiting it is also good value as you can reuse your ticket and visit for free the second time.
Try not to go to Brighton on a Monday as Museum are close on that day.
R. K.
Valked around yesterday in daylight and after the sunset. Beautiful architecture, nice lightening in the dark. Very romantic place.
S.
Amazing amount of history beautiful surroundings.
Great customer service 🥰
v. m.
It ia A royal palace and it was resembling like Mughals architecture and the adjacent area was very greanish and colourful garden.
J. M.
What a superb place to visit, & you can use your ticket to go again, how fantastic is that ! The works of art are amazing, & wecwill definitely be going again.
J. E.
Opulence in abundance! The oriental decoration was out of this world and the chandeliers...wow! Well worth a visit but its history can make you think.
M. S.
I went to visit Brighton and I had no idea about the Royal Pavilion. It is definitely one of the most beautiful places I ever visited. I will tell everyone that if you go to Brighton, you need to visit this place. Extraordinary, so beautiful.
D. P.
Beautiful but very very cold and dark for photos
W. S.
The Royal Pavilion is an exotic palace in the centre of Brighton with a colourful history. Built as a seaside pleasure palace for King George IV, this historic house mixes Regency grandeur with the visual style of India and China.
The palace looks beautiful from the outside. Inside, a lot of history is shown, but when visiting the palace, it is not possible to see everything through closed rooms.
R. G.
Majestic and grand in the truest sense. This is what the East Indian company helped build.
K. H.
I loved it here. The restoration is wonderful and beautiful
J. C.
Great place to visit. Kind staff, you can easily see how much effort has been put in conservation of this beautiful place. We didn't have our tickets prebooked but we bought them by the entrance, there's no problem with that.
A. R.
Gorgeous place to visit. Just a shame some of the rooms were not open. Staff very informative and very interesting.
A. T.
Interesting experience of seeing a Western view of the Chinese culture over 100 years ago.
M. R. G.
Ghastly extravagance, no wonder the Americans didn't want to support the crown anymore. But well worth the visit if you like Chinese dragons, serpents, and chandeliers. The gardens are lit up nicely at night.
M. H.
Unbelievable treasures of George IV await in the bizarre and unique pavilion. The dining room is truly jaw dropping. The guides are helpful and knowledgeable, the whole is amazing. Very much worth a visit. You'll never pick out all the details in one pass!
B. C.
Completely unique place to visit with an interesting history.
T. S.
Have seen this beautiful building many times. Didn't go in this time but walked round the outside and sat in grounds 😌
D. G.
Unique interior. Friendly staff. Well worth a visit
r. f.
A beautiful place, opulent to the extreme but full of history and a must see if your in Brighton
D. H.
Historical building, well worth a visit, just off the Brighton high street and lanes. Biggest downside is that the Brighton Council have decided to build an ice skating building in front of the front door. Pathetic. The entrance fee at the moment is £16 per person, that could be rather steep for some
S. J.
Great place to visit with family and on weekends you can see archistra playing in the garden area. Tickets are expensive as family tickets for museum and other two attractions are £76. Other buildings are separated and family tickets is £42
C.
Amazing place. Staff so knowledgeable so polite. Exquisite on the eyes.
D. M. W.
A Stunning , More than Historical ,A place for Reflection, Contemplation , a unique part of History that opens your mind up to digest life ,how progress is made, can be looked at for our future in this world. King George has left us all with a landmark. I really Will never emphasize if you take time to contemplate exactly what Life can extract from this ground's kept for reasons as Sir David Attenborough fights for,our planet, but , on top , the beneficial progress of harmony in our society of Acceptance.
J. W.
Incredible building and even more Incredible interior, if that's possible.
P. D.
Amazing building , loads of royal history to be told and seen , 1 entrance fee for the whole year !!!
M.
This place is absolutely BONKERS! Some of the wackiest and most beguiling lighting fixtures, wallpaper, and carpet I’ve seen in years! My only complaint is that the entrance fee could be seen as prohibitive to some. 🤷🏻♀️
M. T.
Utterly fascinating. Superbly executed restoration makes this Brighton's number one attraction; a must for any visitor. The audio guides (at various levels of detail) help to bring the visit to life. Allow plenty of time as there's lots to see!
T. G.
Really interesting and well restored spectacular rooms. Lots to see and the self guided audio tour on your phone was excellent. Staff were very nice, friendly and helpful as well. Thanks for a great visit.
B. C.
The Royal pavilion was fantastic. Extremely well maintained and decorated. Each of the rooms are marvelous to tour as you listen to the provided audio guide. The detail throughout is fascinating. This is a must see
C.
Not your typical mansion. Weird mix of Asian and western art and decor. We got in at a free weekend so check the website in advance. Worth a visit if you have the time since the lanes is right next door anyway.
M. C.
Wonderful place. You're ticket is also valid for one year. My favourite part was the kitchen and the Music room, incredible work.
a. s.
Very pretty architecture! You have to pay to visit the inside though.
s. n.
It was great experience, absolutely well re decorated
R. T.
When I bought the combi ticket for i360 and this place, I thought I was gonna see yet another boring palace, but this one surprised me. In a good way! It looks fabulous and with quite some variety in decor. It's certainly a pleasant way to spend 60-90 min of your time.
M. F.
I love the pavilion. It's history, culture and beauty is astonishing. Definitely worth visiting and re visiting. I'm looking forward to the cafe reopening for cream teas on the balcony.
G. J. S. (.
This has got to be Brighton most stunning architecture, was a seaside pleasure result for King George IV Nearby is a statue I've included a photo, gardens are well kept, best to visit early as fills up later in the day, I've never been inside, that is another trip.
M. V.
Relying heavily on audio tours, the lack of written information means its a quick tour, or rely on your phone. The place is stunning and people helpful if you ask. Well worth the visit
H. W.
100% recommend!!! Was a great place to visit 😊
А. S.
Love idea of download app and listen ,as many times you need ,information about each room. Was very pleasant and impressive visit
C. C.
It has been restored incredibly well in places though some bits still require TLC. The staff were very friendly and happy to impart on us their knowledge. The cafe isnt open for the time being but a lovely gift shop
D. W.
Beautiful building inside and outside 😍.
R. P.
Went as part of a group visit. Wouldn't really spend 17 pounds for a ticket to the place as its basically a combination of international architecture diluted down to the British environment. The souvenir shops could possibly do a better collection of things to buy.
D. B.
Fantastic display on the inside and a wonder of its time on the outside the extraordinary architecture is fascinating. To visit was on my bucket list and I am well pleased it was. A must visit place.
J. D.
Not.to be missed. Be nice to the people that are in each room watching to make sure all is going well. They know a lot about the Palace and are nice enough to ahre their knowledge and opinions. They are not there to give a tour but are very sweet and nice!
L. O.
Always a beautiful experience. Have visited many times and never get tired of this beautiful building.
M. H.
The most beautiful, oldest place I've ever been too. Very friendly staff by the way, too.
J. F.
It has been about 35 years since I first visited. This was the one free day they have and the place is an historical treasure steeped in history and stories. Staff were professional and on hand for questions. Nice way to spend a Sunday morning activity.
m. w.
Having finally visiting the Palace it certainly didn't disappointment. Lots to see and plenty of people on hand to provide all the back stories. Being a fan of Chinese craft I was in my element
S. A.
Did not see any signs giving directions to entry or pricing. I will admit to it being a bit blustery and wet and my eyesight is not the best. No explanation on how to get the audio a helpful visitor helped me. As a regency novel reader this venue was on my wish list. the rooms were smaller than I thought but we'll maintained again lighting muted but it has to be. I found the audio very helpful in the information and explanation. I feel audio cassette would be better or take earplugs for your phone as you can overhear some other commentaries from other phones.
J. S.
It far exceeded my expectations. I loved everything about my visit. Very friendly and informative staff. It's well worth a visit. I can thoroughly recommend.
D.
An eye opener to extravagance. Thankfully this type of royal indulgence is over. Well worth a visit, full marks to Brighton for saving it.
B. W.
Gorgeous little estate. Unfortunately a few areas of the pavilion are currently closed, but the parts that are open are opulent and splendid. They have an audio tour that you can listen to on your phone, giving details of the interior designs and furnishings, as well as the history of the building. Staff is also at hand to answer any questions and give more information.
Beautiful place well worth a visit.
D. 7.
Don't judge a book by it's cover! I purposely didn't read up on the Pavillion beforehand but could help but have an idea of what it might be like given the outside however it stunned me once I went inside. A truly magnificent building with guides who are able to tell you about a period of British history that is rarely talked about. A visit to the Royal Pavillion is time very well spent.
D.
It's a spectacular I would highly recommend a visit
I'm going back soon because there is so much to take in and one visit won't do it.
Amazing place.
s. k.
The architecture is mogul-inspired.
It used to be a royal residence once upon a time.
The garden outside is nice, with tortuous pathways and beautiful greenery.
D. K.
A mind blowing Palace that George IV left his bold mark on. Simply outstanding and ostentatious!
C. L. C.
the male staff today at the first room after the ticket entry is amazing. He ran us through very vividly what it was like 200 years ago when the guests of king George entered the Pavillion, the smoke, the lighting, the itinerary and everything. The whole journey would have been very different without him.
Thank you so much!
M. T.
Great to explore if you're into history or architecture. Younger kids may get bored but our 7yr old loved it. Walking tour audio app was great to use for extra info but staff are on hand in most rooms.
Allow about 90mins for the house tour which you can buy tickets for online.
D. E.
Nearly didn't go in as I thought the admission fee was a little high but so glad we did, this king certainly new how to furnish a 'holiday home' ! Amazing tour of the pavilion and highly recommended 👌
S. F. K.
A mysterious night view of the Royal Pavilion , Brighton, East Sussex.
S. D.
We didn’t expect to see something like this in Brighton when visiting, it’s a very unique building, stunning really. We didn’t go in but walked around the gardens. A nice surprise
J. S.
Excellent palace, very beautiful interiors, just a bit pricy at £17/ticket. Not part of NT, EH, HRP, etc. but English Heritage members get a 10-20% discount
M. W.
Stroll around the grounds is great. Smashing atmosphere
L.
gorgeous interiors; highly recommend. the only downfall I’d say is the ticket prices as they make you purchase a seasonal ticket :,)
A. C.
The royal pavilion is very unorthodox for a seaside town but it is absolutely stunning! And for better views, check it out at night, the lighting makes it look truly extraordinary.
I went during the festive season, they had an ice rink open which is great for families and kids and had a bar which was open to the public. The setting was extremely nice and a must visit, especially for tourists.
It is also in an extremely good location hence really easy to access when in Brighton!
L. H.
Extremely interesting. One can really imagine the king having lots and lots of fun there just by admiring the inside decorations and style of the place.
S. T.
Fascinating ornate Palace. Once home to a very naughty saucey Prince regent. So glad it survived for us to visit it today.
2. D.
Hi went here today and was impressed by the size of the building and the grounds of the palace.
The gardens are very well maintained and suitable for a picnic.
The palace is very impressive and has been renovated to a high standard.
I have attached nearly 50 pictures to this post to show how impressive it is.
Entrance is £15 for adults and I think about £8 for children.
If you buy the tickets online in their website you get a 10% discount but you need to buy them 24hrs before hand. But if you go to 365ticketmasters they were a bit cheaper and you can buy them on the day.
Please remember that you cannot take any pull along trolleys with you inside as we had a cool box on wheels and were told we couldn't take it in. Pushchairs were ok though.
There is no parking available at the palace so you need to find parking at the NCP which is expensive £31 for the day or try and come early and find some street parking.
R. H.
Royal pavilion at Brighton lovely to walk around the Royal pavilion
M. M.
Wonderful attraction in the heart of the city. Set in really pleasant grounds with paths baskers and flowers. A popular destination for sunbathers and people just wanting to chill. The pavilion itself is an incredible sight with absolutely fascinating architecture. A must see location when in brighton.
J. H.
A fine place of British and Brightonian history. Panels inside educate one on the Georgian and Victorian influences and reasons behind the buildings creation and maintenance. You can stand and walk where Kings, queens, tsars and any other number of international royalty and dignitaries have have stood, walked, eaten, danced and slept. What was truly fascinating for me, was discovering the facility it was to our late empire's soldiers from the subcontinent who bravely held the front whilst we were still recruiting on home soil. The gardens twinned with the pavilion are also not to be missed, they are beautiful.
r. j. r.
One of the fabulous 'Faces of Brighton'. Don't
be fooled by the drab exterior. The interior is
just amazing. The surrounding gardens are a
real treat. Wonderful for relaxing, picnics, or
just having fun. Popular outdoor cafe. Easy
access. Fantastic pop-up ice-rink in Winter.
Food, drink, and skate hire.
M.
Visited 2nd Oct 2019 on a very sunny day which made the building look fabulous, it's quite unique in England. Was a bit disappointed with the gardens & it was smaller than I'd imagined but extremely lavish inside with a nice Cafe.
S. K.
Its a good experience well maintained and many things to see. Its not that big , you might take around 1 hour to view all rooms and paintings.
Some amazing gold art work and furnitures.
Overall good experience if you want to spend some time in history of Brighton
C. P.
Beautiful, a tiny expensive for the duration of the visit but it looks pretty and the Asian inspiration is super beautiful. Perfect for a rainy day in Brighton
R. H.
Very beautiful place to visit, I haven't been inside the museum but the park outside is so serene during the evenings, perfect for a picnic. The architecture seems much like that in the Taj Mahal, just kept reminding me of it.
a. r.
Beautiful place, wonderful decor and interesting artifacts. Bit pricey I thoroughly enjoyed my visit.
Y.
Gorgeous gardens, great for a picnic day out. Don't bring alcohol as security can chuck you out.
M. L.
Growing up in Brighton seeing the exterior of the Palace as I passed regularly but never stepping foot inside, until now! I was absolutely thrilled at the opportunity to see what was behind this Indian inspired building. To my surprise the interior isstill of flamboyant oriental designs. It's a great historical building and a must do when visiting Brighton! I would recommend the audio guides whilst walking around! You can also enjoy tea and cakes on the rooftop balcony.
L. A.
Absolutely fabulous decor, beautiful wall hangings, carpets, drapes and exquisite chandeliers. Spent an hour and a half immersed in palace spender and history.

Incredible decor and breathtaking rooms! The outdoor facade seems to suggest another story, which fortunately isn’t reflected on the indoor grandeur! The only setback was the app for the audio guide wasn’t very reliable today unfortunately.
W. G.
Take your time, turn up early, no coffee shop or tea room, at least under covid19, which seemed odd given the oriental and indian connections.
S. S.
Great place, great park, good medieval type architecture of Persian origins. We didn’t go in due to overpriced tickets, but roaming around the park and outside was good enough.
Would recommend.
L. C.
Lots of interesting history and a lovely little cafe where you can sit in or outside and have tea in a pot, cake, or a very substantial sandwich (coronation chicken was delicious, and the ploughman's came with a decent hunk of cheese).
The rooms are amazing, Oriental, in a way that could only be dreamed of (a very western fantasy), but they are incredibly grand (although in any other setting might be described as gaudy). Well worth a visit. If you're likely to go back more than once in a year, or visit the gallery opposite, it's worth looking into a yearly pass.
There are not many signs up about the place, so you may want to get the website up, or if you're into more detail, rent an audio guide for a couple of quid.
S. J. (.
I came here twice. First time I saw the inside castle, it was exotic and beautiful. A bit confuse because it’s looks Indian on the outside but Chinese on the inside. However, they keep the atmosphere excellent, everything look like they’re in the old time and I love that. The garden outside is free to sit, it’s so wonderful on the sunny day tho. Oh! And scone in tea room at the second floor of the palace is the BEST! I guaruntee that!
M. F.
Price of £15 per adult that is bit expensive. Good and nice place with guide box for add £2 per person, yiu can choose only one for couple. One hour tour.
C. J.
Absolutely loved the place
F. B.
A new room has been opened last week at the Royal pavilion: the Saloon. Freshly restored it's nice to see the extravagant and rich finish of this typical George IV architecture, just as it looked in its glorious days. Impressive the work done with pure platinum on the hand painted wall paper, painstakingly rebuilt to match the old silver in its former glory.
I. P.
A must to see of Brighton architectural jewelry. You will be amazed by the
interior. The garden is a wonderful place for relaxing, picnics, or just
having fun and listening to live music. Nice outdoor cafe and a pleasant overall vibe.
N. A.
The Royal Pavilion is open now (October 2020), there isn't much to see in the gardens. the inside pavilion must be interesting to visit and the adult ticket (from 19 years) costs £15.50 with booking online.
T. P.
Unique building and interiors. Faithfully restored to early 19th century eras. Particularly exceptional for chinoiserie design.
S. M.
Looks nice, but not ablexto get close due to builders fence up around the whole perimeter.
a. S.
Its amazing way of preserving history and culture.
V. K.
We visited this on a day when it was closed to the public but simply beautiful from the outside
Sheer elegance set amidst a beautiful park with open public access for all to admire the building
Our day in Brighton was made complete with a casual stroll through the park as we made our way back to London
Brighton beach isnt too far away so a casual stroll either too or from us worthy of the few minutes between locations.
Rating only reflective of the outside. Would love to see insude next time.
T. L. A.
A place full of history, beautiful decorations and furniture. Incredible designs and views that leaves speechless. Definitely will be back.
V. L. (.
Never seen a palace quite like it. Well worth the visit with really good restorations for inside rooms.
G. T.
What a spectacular Palace, very interesting listening with the Audio tour. So many rooms to see and lovely how its all been maintained and brought back to its former glory.
K. S.
Bit pricey but very lovely. The architecture is good and the art work inside is very impressive. Staff inside are helpful and happy to explain anything.
B. C.
A real treat. Amazing decor, presented in a grand style. Excellent audio commentary from the app. Really enjoyed the visit.
C. H.
My wife and myself have never been here before so, we both were amazed at how wonderful this place is. Gardens, Royal Pavilion, India Gate, all brilliant. People eating there lunch on the grass and sunbathing. Lots of restaurants nearby.
A. O.
Absolutely stunning! Its fusion of styles is flamboyant and a feast for the eyes. Well worth a visit, we spent two hours marvelling at craftsmanship and creativity.
P. H.
Wow . Really amazing palace . Well recommend. Give your self plenty of time to look around.
A. M.
Worth to visit from outside but if you would like to see it from inside then you need to buy the tickets somewhere around £17 pp.
k. k.
What a magic place. Realy love to walk around this place, any time I can, nice garden/ park with beautiful flowers in many colours Honestly I never been in, but one day defo go to look in. You can find in park also hidden public toilet 😎
I. p. S.
The Royal Pavilion was brilliant very colourful and the outside of the building with its sculpture is outstanding and very clever.
Z. S.
Plenty of space to skate, ice quality was very good as it is maintained between every 45 minute session, which before I visited I wasnt sure would be long enough, but it was plenty. I only wish I visited on a day when the weather was better as the rink is outside. The cafe is nice and cozy though, and it has several machines that blast hot air for you to be able to quickly dry anything that gets wet, very handy. The staff are friendly and also very attentive for those who might fall over and get hurt out on the ice.
C. W.
Dramatic, eccentric and unexpected pseudo palacial building in the heart of Brighton. More appropriate to find in the Asian sub continent. Built for Queen Vic in the 19th century. I declined to pay 15.00 each for 2 of us to visit after I had already paid 12.00 each to visit the next door museum because it was closing in less than an hour. Gardens are free and amazing. The museum is small but strong on fashion and furniture especially. Worth a detour. Not sure either are worth the entrance fees - but Brighton attracts international tourists and is close to London and those guys are prepared to pay.
B.
Very Beautiful in Winter! One of the posh Ice Rinks 😉
M. S.
Absolutely magnificent decor, thoroughly enjoyed my visit.
A. S.
Lovely to look around. Plenty of history. An interesting short documentary to watch if you wish along the way. The tickets last a year so you can revisit. Worth a walk about.
The staff have a good knowledge of the building and it's occupants too which helps.
Great job guys. 👍👍👏👏👏👏
M. B.
Something so unique and unexpected, right in the middle of Brighton. We weren't going to go in but glad we did. It was around 15pounds for an adult. It's a directed pathway so you won't get access to every area. It is getting old and tired in places, as you can imagine, with some restoration works being completed. Well worth a visit.
C. W.
Visited to see the Christmas decorations. Good fun looking for the sweet little mice creations which appeared randomly in various rooms. Shame a couple of them were placed directly on the patterned carpets - a little square of plain cloth would have made them stand out better (just a thought!) Quite cold in there yesterday so wrap up well if you're visiting!
R. M.
A visit to this place should be on everyone's "Bucket list"
I was struck by two things in the main.
1. What can be achieved when an imaginative mind knows no bounds.
2. The sheer / absolute brilliance of the Crafts people of the day.
Absolutely mind blowing !
I was in awe of ( absolutely everything ) but especially the handmade carpet in the Saloon, and I really felt for the guy who was tasked with laying that carpet.
When new, this place must have been mind numbing.
Take the Audio Tour, an absolute must !
Stop off in the Tea Room, cakes are to die for.
J. C.
Spectacular and exotic Palace with restored Queen’s Estate items is must see! Shop does not provide VAT refund forms, so visitors spend wisely.
T. C.
Interesting place to visit with a good online tour. Remember your headphones. It looks better inside than outside
s. i.
One of the most beautiful Royal Palaces I have ever seen. Restored so well
N. P. A.
Majestic jewel in Brighton's Crown. Beautiful Palace. Especially at Christmas time with the amazing Xmas trees ! Excellent restoration team. Excellent friendly, knowledgeable, Front of House team. I had the pleasure of working along side of them when I worked at the Tea Rooms. Sadly closed 😪 at the start of first Lockdown.
K. K.
Very cool! An oddity in its location, but the tour was full of some really interesting history. There is a terrace cafe if you go in for the tour. No pictures allowed inside.
J. K.
The pleasure palace is a must see tourist attraction. The interiors are out of this world and the scones are also great in the tea room. Do get the audio guide it gives amazing insight into the stories and background of this unique pleasure palace.
B. F.
Fascinating place, the tour guide staff are all very knowledgeable able keen to help.
J. B.
A really nice outing. It's great to see the various different styles juxtaposed adjacent to each other. There is a nice cafe upstairs that serves the most heavenly cream teas, which really are a must! Entrance is not prohibitively expensive and it's worth a visit. We loved it.
T. T.
This place is magnificent 💝 will definitely visit again very soon.
B. F. B.
Something amazing. I recommend a beautiful place to everyone.🤩
P. E.
The Royal Pavilion in Brighton is an amazing place to visit, if interested in history I highly recommend.
L. Y.
Fantastic ice skating experience ! Very well presented and organised, good quality of ice and ⛸
F. E.
Whether you just want to walk around the pier, head for the slot machines or ride the fairgrounds rides. You will be rewarded with beautiful views.
C.
We went on the free day , the route takes about an hour , with a cafe half way upstairs and one at the end, as good as anything you will visit, unbelievable lavish decor asiatic , style , definitely visit
G. Y.
Looks amazing and surreal. Did not go inside but I am sure it will be interesting.
s. F.
I loved this place it’s not allowed to take photos inside the building high recommended the park clean as you can walk and enjoy the view
C. D.
Fantastic architecture and decor, well preserved and refurbished from the days of 1818 and the times of regency in England. The tea rooms and gift shops had plenty to offer and there was lots of interesting facts to be learned about the building.
G. M.
It's well worth visiting. Even on a Tuesday in September it was busy. Mind you the whole town was busy. It's quite built up around it and I would suggest getting public transport into Brighton unless you thrive on stress!
M. S.
Really fun visit with my family. Children aged from 5 to 21. Lovely Christmas feel with the pavilion decorated with period decorations. Very passionate/k owledgable staff and a, find the mice trail fir the younger children.
P. K. K.
It's beautiful place. Their is also a museum and park attached to it. It's a good place to visit.
K. S.
The pavilion is a big fixture of Brighton as both a landmark and icon. It is a wonderful building. The white exterior contrasts the opponent interior. Full of silks, gold and shine. Amazing to wonder around and see.
Small exhibition detailed restoration work is also interesting. The inside looks recently resorted, the outside is starting to peel in its paint a bit but assuming that would be the next stage of the works.
S. F.
Didn't really know the history behind the pavilion so amazing to learn and take in the outstanding décor
A. F.
Don't hesitate to visit. It's an outstanding experience!!!
V. S.
This is an absolutely gorgeous place! Definitely a must if you're visiting Brighton. Remember to get tickets in advance so you'd save yourself time. Interiors are even more stunning than its wonderful outside look. Don't forget to visit a small cinema inside to get some inspiration about palace's history. Cream tea was so so btw.
J. S.
Wow. Just wow. This is a total architectural splendor. Please make sure you spend the extra few quid to get an audio guide or you will miss out on so much interesting history. The staff were also very knowledgeable whenever I had a question about the history of the palace. If you are in Brighton, do not skip this. Great gift shop as well if you want to pick up something unique from your visit.
W. S.
This is a magic place that... not allowed to take photos, however, because it is too beautiful! I took few secretly and purchased a guide book!
I LOVE this place!
A. M. G.
Beautiful place, the royal pavilion palace really worth the visit, we didn't go inside, you can sit in the garden and enjoy the view, there's no entry charge to the garden but to go inside it's £13'50.
K. R.
beautiful palace to visit, royal decoration and interior are mesmerizing
G. N.
Absolutely lovely building to visit. Not quite sure of the entrance fee as I paid £13 to enter but local people only had to pay £6. Should be more evenly priced.
L. P.
Perfect! And you buy the ticket and can utilise that several times in an year.
£17
B. A.
Been to Brighton lots and have missed out on this gem before. Well worth a visit to see the Far Eastern inspired decor.
J.
A bizarre Palace, definately worth a visit though. It wouldn't be out of place in Disneyland. Parking was tough to find close by, do your research on parking before you visit as we ended up paying £21 for 3.5 hours.
R. T.
Really worth the £15 entry fee which is open for return visits for a year . George IV mock oriental fantasy palace . Makes you wonder how he got away with it. A bit like the nearby NCP car park who charged us £32 for four hours parking .How do they get away with it?
M. G.
Love the park thats right next to it. Brilliant to chill out.
The Pavilion is beautiful in architecture also lovely to visit inside too.
Had a great time.
Also good to see at night time with all the lights.
K. A.
The royal pavilion is surrounded by a park in Brighton. We didnt visit indoors but the infrastructure is worth capturing.
J. A.
We fell in love with this gem! It's the only Royal Palace not owned by the Royal family. Queen Victoria sold in to the city of Brighton.
It's just gorgeous!
B. A.
Fabulous!!! Totally over the top decoration on an Oriental theme. Never seen anything like it before. Spent two hours wandering around. Well worth £2 for an audio guide which two people can share. No photographs allowed inside.
S. R.
Good conservation work ongoing. Shame tearoom was shut as loss of revenue for a good cause. Well worth a visit. Shame no concessions for the elderly.
J. C.
A beautiful place to be in , with a very informative audio guide. Made me want to go and research further.
S. W.
Astonishing! Amazing restoration of the Salon. Will definitely be back!
K. C.
A unique experience, this Royal Palace is on it's own,you really have to visit to take it in.The settings in the rooms are very well done, the restoration of the Saloon is magnificent. Hope the Tea Room is open again soon.
A must for visitors and Brighton and Hove residents alike.
J. D.
Before entering the building I wondered why this was a Grade I-listed structure, but the restoration ( which continues) has been so impressive you feel like you are returning to the Regency period. The building was designed by John Nash in the early nineteenth century, based on Indo-Saracenic Revival architecture, and was once a holiday home for George, Prince of Wales (later the notoriously corrupt George IV). But the surprise are the Chinese fantasies that dominate most interior rooms, including the too oppulent to believe without seeing dining and music rooms-- to name just two. Queen Victoria's bedroom has also been meticulously restored, which she decreed would be free of faux Chinese ornamentation. This is THE place to visit in Brighton.
J. L.
Lovely place to visit. Stunned by this really exotic style of Architecture. Although it looks bit smaller when you see it for real. Went on September, the weather was perfect to visit the Brighton.
m. s.
Amazing building
We arrived fifteen minuites before it closed we were asked to pay seventeen pounds entrance and we could use the same ticket for a years entrance given the fact we were on hollliday doubt that offer would of been any good
I was on a mobility scooter and was told I would have to b pushed in a wheelchair and that I couldn't have access to the upper floor
Normally my carer would of been admitted free but not at the pavilion
I guess the pavilion is run by brighton Council
Brighton Council you need to do a better job in running the pavilion and accept that I am on a mobility scooter which give me independance
And don't want to b pushed in a wheelchair
We were very disappointed
D. M.
Beautiful, eclectic and a little mad.
H. M.
A lot of new treasures are now on display that were originally there over 150 years ago. They have been loaned from the Queen while Buckingham Palace is being renovated. One can see how they were really designed for the Royal Pavilion.
L. B.
Made by indians, furnished by asians, owned by the british. The interior is much more impressive than the exterior in my opinion.
S. F.
Loved this place. The interior finishes are something to behold. Will definitely be returning soon.
M. C.
A truly remarkable place to visit. Opulence in spadefuls. Audio guide an excellent way to learn about each room and with extra information from the enthusiastic room stewards you gain so much. Do not rush but take time to soak up the atmosphere created and appreciate the workmanship of the craftsmen and women.
K. W.
Another visit to this wonderful Jewel in Brightons Crown. This time with my two grandchildren. Was interesting to see it through their eyes.
K. B.
If you are into history, architecture or just love to wander around and marvel at oppulence , pay it a visit. We used network rail discounts on 241, great value, lovely afternoon. Lovely staff, knowledgeable, good way to spend an afternoon without breaking the bank. No photos inside but memorable none the less
A. A.
Beautifully restored, what a fantastic job, this is a gorgeous place, friendly staff too.
P. J.
Beautiful construction and maintenance of the building. Worth visiting place in Brighton. A spot for feeding birds and pigeons. You'll see large number of pigeons who'll gather around you as soon as you start feeding them. They'll also sit on your hand and eat from it. Children will really enjoy this place and playing with birds.
T.
. Due to time limitation could not explore fully...But..
.Built in 1787, in Indo-Saracenic style by Prince of Wales (Prince Regent George)
. Disappointed as photography was prohibited inside
. A great Monument worth seeing for half a day
S.
Nice lawn areas to relax in.
R. B.
Very interesting but I do think that they should open more of it up to the public and have more of the closed doors open so we can see in for the entry price of £13 per person. Also your not allowed to take photos inside, I presume because flash may cause stuff to fade.
N. (.
Great venue, well presented with amazing restoration. All staff really nice, knowledgeable and happy to help.
P. “. P. G.
Wow. What a fantastic place. Definitely worth a visit. Very helpful staff
M. A. A.
Amazing place, very beautiful building. Many close to the beach.
And restaurants.
Lovely place to sit down, have nice garden.
A lot of tourists.
M. B.
The most bizarre Palace in the country - full of over the top design, beautifully restored, as well as fascinating glimpses behind the scenes. I’m always awestruck by this place
J. C.
It's nice and some of the rooms have been restored in a lovely way, but it is expensive for what you get. It's £15 each and not worth that amount. I'm kinda glad I've been but I couldn't help but think that had it been demolished after Victoria R sold it, there would have been less money spent on restoration and more money spent by the council on the hoards of homeless in Brighton. That's not the problem of the restorers though, they've done a good job of the place.

I really love walking through the pavilion gardens. I walked through there on thursday with my 3 year old. I took time to have a good look at the nature and the wonderful beauty of this place. The busking was also wonderful and really put a happy vibe in the air.
After looking around we saw a few squirrels and a fox was sleeping.
It's nice you can get so close to nature in the city.
S. E.
Great experience but a few points to improve:
Tickets bought in the Pavilion cost £15 pp no students discount which is very expensive considering what is in display.
Poor information displayed in each room we felt that is almost to force us to add the audio guide ( which cost £2 extra).
No photos allowed which is a real shame, the money spent with so many people in surveillance in each room I will suggest to have a similar approach of the National Trust which they’re in there to guide and explain to the visitors what they’re looking at.
The external of the building need a urgent intervention.
On the positive side a great collection, we quite enjoyed the 9 min of film explaining the history of the Pavilion and the evolution.
If you ask me if I’ll be back my answer is no, but if it’s the first time in this city is a must seen building.
M. H.
Magnificent palace beautifully restored and maintained. Guaranteed to amaze you if you've never been before.
C. B.
We really enjoyed our trip in time , and saw how special the Royal Pavilion really is..very interesting.
A. F.
The Royal Pavillion is again a must to visit. There are some paintings and artefacts which have been loaned on a short term so we got to see them. Loads of history behind this castle, and you can spend 2 hrs easily if you are a keen history buff. For me, the best part was the kitchen and the banquet section however all are very much fascinating. Don't want to post more photos as it will not do justice to the amazing interiors
m.
Building and rooms inside are very beautiful, I don't doubt about it. But is it worth to spent 13 pounds to go inside, admire furnitures and walls for one hour? You can't take photos so everything you have in your memory...
C. B.
The history of the palace is fascinating and intriguing. Abundant and eccentric the choice of the design. Well kept most of the original parts of the building and furniture. Without doubt it is the place to visit, I recommend taking the autoguide that will help you to better understand everything and be able to connect to the environment.
A. D. T.
This place in winter is magical. The ice rink that put in the gardens is a experience that you have to try. The only problem is that is not so big and you must to arrive there early in the morning, especially on weekends.
F. A.
Very beautiful place. The garden is wonderful. Inside the castle, there's a historical stories to read about. I like the Chinese decorations so much. I loved tea section and café where you can stop and set waiting your royal order. What disappointing are the fact that you are not allowed to take photos and can't reach the upstairs cafe directly.
E. G.
Impressive Brighton neo-oriental style palace that deserves a visit. It is worthwhile to admire its architecture carefully while you are sitting on one of the wonderful garden benches.
O. G.
Wow! Worth to see it 💯%
L. M. o. H.
I really loved the place, very beautiful and interesting, unfortunately you are not allowed to take pictures inside. What ruined the visit was that I bought a Brighton explorer pass through their website and they were supposed to give me a ticket to gain entrance to other attractions which they failed to do so I had some trouble getting in to other places but managed to thanks to their staff and email confirmation.
T. S.
We went on a sunny day and it was a day we spent. Go around and in the pavilion or just sit around in the parks and enjoy. There's a lot to eat and explore
A. R.
Beautiful place and great friendly staff. I used the free online tour guide and it worked well for me through the pavilion. Unfortunately I cannot show pictures of inside as they are not allowed but seeing it is much better the scale and grandeur. The tea rooms prices are a little high but expected for a tourist site. The cakes were very expensive for what they were. The one in the photo was £4.50.
J. S.
A lovely place to visit with family or solo. The pavilion really offers something unique in decor, history and architecture. My husband and toddler enjoyed touring at our own pace.
There is excellent signage, enthusiastic docents if you choose to go that route, or a follow along with an informational phone guide you can use. The staff was kind, organized, and pricing is very decent. A definate ”must visit” when in Brighton-Hove.
Mostly wheelchair and buggy friendly.
M. M.
Nice place to visit and chilling with friends. Good for picnic on the grass.
S. F.
Well worth a visit. Sadly you can't enjoy the exterior at the moment as it's undergoing refurbishment however the interiors are spectacular.
M. C.
It certainly worth a visit! The only picture I can show you is the toilet 😂
There are so many interesting furnished rooms and everything is so beautiful O wanted to show you more but pictures are not allowed.
P. K. L.
A magnificent looking structure inspired by an Asian culture. Even lights up at night.
B. L.
It didn't smell of death like some museums do. Quite enjoyed it
R. S. R. H.
The ticket is valid for 1 year,u can revisit the royal anytime for 1 year, bit costly for what you see,but it's nice , pleasure to eyes .
K. K.
This place is incredible. Is the most amazing of all the palaces I have been. Must visit if you visit Brighton
B. S.
Completely different to what we expected. Amazing building with great friendly guides
A. C.
Amazing from the outside and breathtaking inside. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. A must see in Brighton.
B. D.
The Royal Pavilion is one of the classic Iconic attractions in Brighton. Only a short walk from the Iconic Brighton Pier. And only a short walk jup North Street to Churchill Square.
The Pavillion recently underwent a thorough cleaning to restore all the stone work to its original colour.
I. H.
Beautiful palace that is constantly being worked on and brought back to life. We spent a few hours going through and reading everything about the building. I would really recommend getting a mobile guide for £2 as it helped us see parts of the palace that weay not have noticed otherwise. They do offer a student discount if you can show an ID or student information!
G. Q.
A beautiful place to visit. loved the history behind it all
R. B.
A totally amazing building with a beautiful park surroundings. Worth visiting even if you only go to see the building exterior.
S. “. L.
Very beautiful place to chance upon, hidden away in the streets of Brighton! It was only ten minutes walk from our hotel, so we had a stroll through on the way to go shopping. We didn't stop to do more than take in the architecture, but there is a museum and I think some sort of indoor exhibition that we'd be keen to see next time. Really pleasant, have a stroll and take a look!
N. K.
Enjoyed my 2 dsys stay. visited the pier, strolled around the town beautiful shopping 🛍 areas & savoured the fish & chips at the palms 🌴 on the pier
Z. L.
A really beautiful building, with very different architecture than you will find in many other places in the UK. During winter there is an ice ring right next to the pavilion which is open in to the evening, with an accompanying bar. The tours and museum of inside the pavilion are well researched and very interesting.
S.
Wonderful British Architecture 😊👍
M. M.
Fantastic place to visit steeped in history and restored beautifully. Worth the admission price and will definitely be back. The only downside was that some of the staff were quite rude. A man on the door referred to our queue as 'having to get rid of that lot first. Sure he didn't mean anything by it but didn't sound very professional or welcoming. Small glitch to an otherwise great day out.
O. N.
Well worth a visit; very ornate. Nice tea room with veranda overlooking the garden. No vegan options.
D. N.
Amazing architecture and gardens with plenty of grassy spots to stretch out and listen to the buskers and watch the people as they pass by. The building itself is amazing with mughal style exterior and chinoiserie inspired interiors.
S. G.
Fascinating tour and great value for money a must see if you are in Brighton
D. C.
We only visit for afternoon tea. All was very pleasant and tea and cakes were fine.
I guess special mention to staff on reception who were very helpful and funny checking us in and looking after us
D. P.
Gorgeous place with beautiful gardens to relax in when the suns out 😁
I. B.
Definitely worth visiting - such a unique palace. We were surprised and impressed with Indian and Chinese themes running through the royal pavilion. Must see.
P.
We had the benefit of a native guide, but still stopped for a good long natter with one of the senior staff, a chap so solid I think I could move the building with him if I had a long enough lever. Lots to see, many, many dragons. Take a bit of time to walk through, it's kind of worth it
M. N.
Wonderful opulence and devine cream tea. Great place to visit for a couple of hours.
s. k.
So beautiful 😍 its just out of this world 🌎 so so beautiful
P. S.
Wow. So enjoyed this place. Really well restored inside so don't be fooled by the say and degraded exterior. Exhibits were presented really well with some really good descriptions of what they are and where they originate from as well as interesting facts. A little pricey until you get in and then you realise it's really good value for money. I would defiantly be going back.
A. S.
Awesome place! Amazing architecture and so interesting to see a palace of this style in the UK. The displays are in great shape and the descriptions in the galleries are well written. Free audio guide too but needs internet.
Highlight for me was the stairwells, the dome, and a golden circular room.
a. a.
Nice place. Full of history.
V. B.
Visited this place for the first time after a long-time curiosity, having been captivated by its Eastern-inspired exteriors. The museum inside is excellently organised: there is a clear, defined tour route that helps with building a narrative with the historical artefacts and information. The route also helps with reducing visitor congestion, since everybody is forced to go in the same direction. Moreover, I really liked the arguably 'gross' information in one of the rooms about how visitors' dead skin, hair, perspiration and breath affect the interiors. All in all, a fascinating visit that I'll happily repeat to explore things in more depth.
V. D.
Such a beautiful landmark and lovely gardens surrounding it! A must-visit if you are in Brighton!
A. D.
The Royal Pavilion is a wonderfully restored monumental palace built in 1823 by King George IV and has many of the original items displayed on loan from Buckingham Palace till 2021.
R. K.
Not to be missed when in Brighton. The banquet room is jaw dropping. The photos will never so it justice. May I recommend stopping off at their tea room. The tea is divine
H. J. C.
Bright side of Brighton ❤️
M. J. W.
Really great! Recommend the free guide you can use on your phone browser. For me, worth the £16 adult admission - and that's from someone who normally tries to go to free museums or at least a student discount!
A. T.
A lovely piece of history. It's amazing how much has been preserved and/or restored. It gave me a glimpse of the lives of the British Royalty during the height of the British Empire. I have to give extra credits to the staff there. They are incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable.
C. S.
Really lovely place to visit, it looks great outside and stunning inside. Interesting to find out the history behind such a fascinating building.
S. O.
Purchasing a ticket gives re-entry for at least a week, if not a whole year. We were in Brighton for a week and visited twice. The first time we just walked around, looking. The second we listened to the audio guide.
Lots of very interesting stuff to look at, to read and to listen to. Not super expensive, either.
Definitely recommend!
A. R.
Absolutely fantastic place to visit. Beautiful building and gardens, well worth the entrance fee. Didn't have to que for too long at all to get in. Just one comment for the member of staff who was working on the ticket desk, please have some patience when dealing with people who have hearing difficulties or who don't understand what you are explaining. Would have been a 5 star otherwise.
G. S.
Lovely place to visit beautiful inside and out.
J. B.
This place is really stunning. Amazing on the outside and really beautiful on the inside. The history is varied and really interesting. The guides were fountains of knowledge and really forthcoming with it. From pleasure.palace to war hospital. It's seen a lot.
Well worth a visit.
S. H.
A nice piece of history. Quite expensive to get in, but the ticket lasts a year so could return if local (we are not). Lots of info about the history of the building. Who knew it was once used as a hospital? Amazing. The ceiling in the banquet hall is stunning.
P. S.
A wonderful visit at this amazing building with a fascinating history that gets more incredible with every room you enter. Allow a few hours for your visit if you want to immerse yourself in the history of the Royal Pavilion. The online guide on their website takes you room by room through the building.. take earphones or just read the text.
S. B.
Only got to view it from the outside as it was closed the day I visited Brighton. Such a shame you barely hear about this place when speaking about Brighton. I'm sure it's marvellous from the inside too.
S. P.
It's really good place from history pov but expensive entry tickets.
J. K.
THE attraction of Brighton. Great architecture let down only by the ever present building works that are always covering some part of it's structure (same for every/attraction in England isn't it!). The grounds are nice too, especially in Summer.
U. U.
Beautiful palace on the outside as well as inside. Tickets are valid for the whole year, not just for one visit. Nice gardens around the pavilion as well, great for a picnic. Definitely a place worth visiting.
S. S.
Amazing place and I really liked that the audio tour had a transcript and that both could be accessed on your phone. We booked in advance and there was no queue when we got there. The ticket lasts a year so it's quite good value for money at £16. The gift shop was horrendously overpriced though! No tea room but plenty of places in Brighton
А. К.
Bought a ticket for 15.50, turned out it's valid for a year. Very beautifull inside, i will come back again.
C. H.
Beautiful house and very well looked after inside, was amazing to walk around and see history in just a beautiful building. Staff were very friendly especially with out little one who decided to start screaming in the music hall! Worth another visit I think.
I. A.
I can't say how the inside is, but the outside is beautiful!
We went there during the pride weekend, and although Brighton in general was cramped with people, there was a really good organisation to let people pass around. Very clean, reconsidering the festivities.
So this was apparently built in the 19th century by the regent prince. It was a seaside pleasure palace. I never thought I would see architecture like this in the UK.
T. H.
Always wanted to go in to this magnificent looking building. Met by friendly staff and volunteers with so much knowledge. Loved the whole experience and only 2nd time I've rated 5 out of 5 for a visit ANYWHERE
V. M.
Awesome! You cannot visit Brighton and not go here. Definitely do the audio tour as it gives so much background. (Without it would be just a splendid building and you'd miss so much). Ticket allows you unlimited repeat visits within a year which is great value if you're coming back. Sadly a few rooms and the tea room were shut due to covid but I will go back. Maybe not for young kids but a must for adults.
B. L.
Had a great daybtrip to Brighton Pavillion. Amazing building. We had a lovely coffee break sat watching the Ice skaters. Wished we had more time to look around
A. B.
Amazing place . A lot of interesting information about the history of the place. One way sistem and sanitiser to use everywhere. Is worth visiting.
G.
Great location and a typical interior of a corporate hotel. The reception staff were excellent and efficient but the breakfast staff needed to be reminded what they were there for by the duty manager. A big minus was that they had 4 staff behind the bar and decided to close it at 10.00pm as "it wasn't busy"? Why have 4 staff when 1 or 2 would have done? A number of hotel residents came in later after the bar closed and were surprised to find they couldn't get a nightcap!
K. B.
Pricey at £16 per adult but a good activity especially when the weather is a bit rough, as it was during the cancelled Pride weekend. I never knew much about the place, so the history was interesting, such as the Indian soldiers. Quite beautiful inside and the dragon centre piece holding the chandelier is amazing 🐉🎋🎎 There is also a room with a documentary playing about the Pavillon, which provided a nice break from walking about.
M. B.
No time to go inside this time, but still a great visit
C. M.
Beautifully renovated. A great day out with young grand child... totally loved the experience. Audio track good.. But read up before and you will truly enjoy the visit. Tickets can be reused at this and Preston manor. Well worth a visit. Beautiful cafe in shady grounds. Idyllic.
m. w.
It's difficult to believe that such a place exists in Great Britain, for a moment you might think you are somewhere in the East, as is quite evident from the architecture. It houses a museum and a park as well.
C. S.
I only visited the outside of the Royal Pavilion but it looks as beautiful as ever
N. B.
Went for a wedding, lovely place but room was a bit small
A. E.
Great fun, decent ice rink but wouldn't want to go on a weekend/evening as I can imagine it would be proper busy.
L. M.
Staff were excellent and snuck our order in at the last minute for Sunday Roast, piled high with a massive Yorkie. Good ale
J. D.
Great grounds to wander around on a sunny day and beautiful architecture that seems so out of place but yet seems to fit.
M. S.
To crowded even in rainy days. I preferred the old painting like in the seventies.
R. K. (. L.
Great open space, beautiful gardens with lovely historical buildings.
G. B.
Wonderful. Use your own phones for audio tour. Pricing was good and you can use your ticket to go back as many times as you want for a year. Stunning and evocative rooms. Highly recommend.
D. H.
History in abundance, knowledgeable, friendly staff, happy to engage with visitors, a totally pleasant experience
H. N.
Very interesting. Invest in the audio guide as it gives great information about each room. A must do in Brighton
R. H.
Fabulous palace. Try to book on the underground tunnel tour if you can!
S. Y. N. U.
Couldn't see much of it due to never(that's what we heard) ending renovation work. Couldn't see picturesque front due to some event or renovation!! Little disappointed.
k. k. K.
15 pounds entrance fee. Also has a restaurant in the Palace. OK OK ki d of place. GARDEN outside the Palace where we can sit and relax
B. W.
Fascinating visit and history.
C. I.
Amazing design and architecture at this pavilion. Having the audio guide available on the phone was great too. Definitely one of the most well put together royal palaces I've been to so far in the UK.
C. M.
Fascinating building with grounds big enough to take your dog to. Pavilion does not allow dogs inside but true to dog loving Brighton, will always offer your pet water.
S. F.
Stunning banqueting hall , worth the entrance fee alone
C. Z.
Very lovely place for visit and to take some photos or just relaxing.
K. T.
A beautiful building, this finished off our visit to Brighton quite nicely.
S. M.
Really pretty gardens.
One of the "How can we help" people was really helpful when we spoke with him.
I didnt catch his name but he was a lovely man who reminded me of Dale Winton :-)
It was my first trip to Brighton & it was lovely
J. G.
It's an amazing place at anytime!
J. B. (.
Very lovely building and interesting history of a previous opulent time.
M. F. (. G.
It is beautiful. Some sections is being renovated now.
J. R.
Barney was an enthusiastic tour guide. However, he made frequent errors when sharing information, which you can verify by reading the signs around the pavilion.
1. He stated that Victoria sold the estate and interior furnishings because she didn't like the aesthetic that George had created. Not true. She sold it because she didn't like the attention she got in Brighton. She TOOK most of the stuff inside and used it for her other residence. The sign in the pavilion even said that this is a common misconception.
2. He referred to a micro-mosaic of George as an oil painting. If you look close enough, you can see the tiny pieces. The plaque underneath also clearly said it's a mosaic.
Nitpicking, sure, but when you pay money for a service, it should be better; especially when the information signs do a better (and more accurate) job.
M. F.
Amazingly beautiful decor inside
N. K.
very posh and lavish life style from the history, interesting to see and learn how rich people spent the money they made from colonizing the world. It renders you speeches
Building is well maintained and managed, and you will spend at least two hours there. Friendly staff and helpful staff too
E. A.
First time to Brighton, for the London Brighton veteran car run. The royal pavilion looked quite alien.
C. B.
Well worth a visit.
Stunning interiors.
S. G.
We expecting the pavilion to be good but it far exceeded my expectations, the banquet room blew my mind. Incredible and definitely do not miss when you're in Brighton! 10/10
C. J.
A little run down, but quirky and well worth a visit to have a nose round.
P. L.
We stayed in Hove and took bus to Brighton. The Royal Pavilion was very busy and lovely to see it and absorb the atmosphere. Excellent day we had there.
D. E.
An absolute must see in Sussex. Spectacular design inside and out, with many of the original features retained or restored to perfection.
D. F.
A real insight into monarchy. The banqueting rooms are ridiculously over the top. But the best part was the room dedicated to the Pavilion's use as a hospital during WW1, and the adaptions made to make the (mainly) Indian patients feel at home.
J.
Such a beautiful place to visit. If you're in London catch the train to Brighton. It's worth the trip!
O. P. P.
Lovely spot in Brighton, we visited in New year's day and got to see the ice skating but and café, it was great
M. Z.
Art Fund is a great national charity which supports art, including museums and galleries. I became an Art Fund member when I tried to buy tickets on line for an exhibition and spotted free entry for Art Fund members. Discount and free entry is available to many venues including Brighton Pavilion and museum. Unfortunately the Art Fund free entry is not shown on the Brighton Pavilion and Museum online price list and the people at the desk had to look something up to allow me to use my Art Fund card. This does not help art and I would urge a change to the website to show clearly that free entry for Art Fund members is one of the options, so that more people would join Art Fund and contribute in this way.
V. G.
Ice skating is quite a fun in winter time, also the visual experience was superb.
E.
Great historical place, definite must see if you're in Brighton.
L. B.
Incredible architecture and atmosphere! Brighton has so much to offer!
M. e.
Far more than the folly I originally thought, the Royal Pavilion is a sumptuous restoration of a right royal party house, bringing to life the histories of both the upstairs and downstairs occupants. I particularly enjoyed the caricature and cartoon displays which gave a real insight into just how much hanky panky & politics mixed during this time.
K. C.
Beautiful place the history and detail was just amazing. I really enjoyed visiting. Friendly staff member new his history and gave a lovely talk. He was very gracious towards anyone that had questions.
S. B.
A sensory overload of wonderful artefacts, impossibly-intricate decorations , along with the feeling that you are in a reverie, the sort of dream from which you never want to leave.
A magical experience.
M. b.
Beautiful former royal residence, in stunning indian and chinese revisited architectural and decorative style.
D. O.
Iceskating there is a dream! Lovely staff and by the time you lift your head up after falling you’ll find them around you helping you up! 😂
K. D.
So beautiful and so much history. You can do inside tours or just wander round or have a sit in the gardens. A must for anyone in Brighton.
E. M.
Went ice skating here for the first time in about 15 years. It was such a beautiful setting, shakily skating along with the pavilion as the back drop
B. F.
Well worth the daytrip from London! Easily the most colourful and zany former royal palaces in Britain, the Royal Pavilion is probably the best example of Indo-Saracenic architecture outside of India, and it is one of the most visible reminders of the British Empire within British shores. Best visit for its brilliant interiors and exotic chandeliers. Be sure to get the audio guide to highlight its features and history. I look forward to seeing how Brighton's landmark fares under new ownership
G. C.
Really lovely and helpful stewards with lots of insight into the history.
A. S.
Beautiful design of Royal Pavillion.LookingIndian from outside and Chinese inside
Highly recommended to vist
A. I.
Great place to explore
S. P.
Fascinating place, lot of history to it and the rooms look fantastic having been restored to their Georgan/Victorian splendour, having been a Royal residence, a hospital and a library amongst other things it's worth the visit.
Only 4* because (if you don't have a phone) the information provided is either too much or practically non existing, the staff can be very helpful with this, if they are utilised properly.
M. V.
lovely building in the middle of Brighton town centre with visual influences from India and China from the Princes visits abroad. It's a grade 1 listed building and a former royal residence. Construction of the building started in 1787,but was added to on two separate occasions. It was a summer retreat for George Prince of Wales who became the Prince Regent in 1811,and later King George IV in 1820.
J. L.
Fantastic place to visit
J. M. N. M.
Great place to visit..
Many amenities to choose from
Great for a romantic walk
And great for familys too
D. B.
Didn't have the chance to go inside of the building, but the outside was stunning. I liked the park with the little garden pond
I. H.
A good afternoon, enjoyed it thoroughly..A must see if you go to Brighton.
S. H.
Had a coffee in the Pavilion Gardens cafe. Very nice.
S. D.
Wonderful building inside and out It's a must see when visiting Brighton
w. w.
The exterior is beautiful and the interior is even more than that. There is a mixture of Indian and Chinese in the design of the place.
A. V.
It was a big surprise because I saw walking through behind garden. Cool!
S. L.
Truely spectacular decor, illustrating what a royal weekend retreat, drawing inspiration from across the globe could look-like at the begining of the 19th century. Well worth the 1-2 hours it takes to wonder through it. Even my 2 young teenagers were impressed
A. M.
Amazing example of the excesses of the British monarchy and the weird result of a fascination with foreign cultures but through the limited lense of colonization. I would rate it higher if the price for entry wasn't so high. Although it is a years pass I doubt I'll visit more than once within the year.
T. L.
The most amazing and extravagant place that you can find in UK
A. F.
What a perfect architectural showpeice for Brighton. How could anybody not like this building. Hard to believe designed without ever being or visiting the eastern places the Pavilion is styled on and for the use as a stable! Venture inside to see some of the interior wonders, most notable being the extravagant eastern dragon light/chandalier and the imitation bamboo decorations throughout the building. Unfortunately we have lost all of the skills to create these wonderful designs but thankfully saved for posterity. I won't post pictures, go and visit, it is well worth it to get some semblance of understanding of what we CANT manufacture in these current times.

The Royal Pavilion, also known as the Brighton Pavilion, is a Grade I listed former royal residence located in Brighton, England.
Beginning in 1787, it was built in three stages as a seaside retreat for George, Prince of Wales, who became the Prince Regent in 1811, and King George IV in 1820. It is built in the Indo-Saracenic style prevalent in India for most of the 19th century.
The current appearance of the Pavilion, with its domes and minarets, is the work of architect John Nash, who extended the building starting in 1815. George IV's successors William IV, and Victoria, also used the Pavilion, but Queen Victoria decided that Osborne House should be the royal seaside retreat, and the Pavilion was sold to the city of Brighton in 1850.
D. G.
Oh my goodness! I have been to many royal households and this one tops the charts for opulence. Every room contains so many beautiful features, I would bet there had to be a tousle to get the budget 🤣
P. O.
Lovely place which is a must-see for tourists but especially for photographers (hint; a wide angle lens let's you use the little pond in front to get great reflection shots)
J. R.
Great fresh and tasty bread, you get it also sliced, best Cornish pastries also nice coffee. Friendly and helpful
E. M. G.
Very beautiful, at least two of the rooms, the banqueting and the music one are the most luxurious I have ever seen, more than Versailles.
G. H.
We enjoyed our walk a round the grounds. Great architecture. Worth a visit.
C. B.
Love the architecture and the ice skating every Christmas is the highlight of my year :)
w.
We didn't explore much to be honest but from what we did see, very nice, on a sunny day, have a nice sit down on the green with some food and relax, why not.
R. A.
Brightons historic palace is a must see, there's been alot work refurbishing the palace and it looked like they were starting on the grounds but the outer walls could do with a lick of paint though and I'm sure it's on the list.
K. B. (. B.
Outrageously stunning. Photography not allowed unfortunately.
S. C.
Absolutely charming......lovely gardens for watching the world go by
D. D.
Well worth the visit, and will come back again, just too much to take in in one go!
A. B.
The exterior of the Pavilion suggests a somewhat faded grandeur which is therefore expected of the interior, but what a treat awaits the visitor! The tour guide phone app worked really well and was enriched by the knowledge and interactions with the curators who were genuinely keen to share their love of the building! A fascinating historical building and a thoroughly enjoyable visit.
Ü. Y.
A beautiful building! Must see. Not expected in the middle of the city. It has a nice park as well.
R. R.
Amazing experience. Incredible restoration work.
J. R.
Beautiful building but very pricey entrance fee
V. M.
It’s best to go there when there’s sunshine. You can take a walk around the palace as well. There’s museum and public toilet nearby
V. B.
Take the audio-guide ! We spent 2h and it was perfect ! ;) Quite pricey (13£), but let's be honest, it's a must do in Brighton ! Audio-guide is only 2£ so really worth it !
M. G.
Exterior tired looking and in need of redecorating. Entrance fee of £15 for adults which we thought expensive.
S. B.
The outside of the Pavilion is very interesting & unique although it always appears to have scaffold around part of it...but the inside is spectacular!! Think they should take all the shrubs & flower beds out and put the area down to grass as it will be easier to keep and not look so tatty as it does now...however I would recommend anyone to go and see this amazing building
E. W.
Amazing place to visit- so unique
A. B.
Most beautiful wedding venue with incredibly kind and helpful staff. Magical.
P. O.
Excellent presentation of opulent rooms that make you go wow. So much colour compared the the bland plaster of the outside. Well worth the seemingly expensive ticket price.
I. K.
Great place. Beautiful palace garden.
N. G.
We didn't realise how interesting the Paviloons would be. Priced at £16 per adult it was actually well worth the money. Recommend the mobile phone guide via the QR code. Only disappointment is the Tea Rooms being closed, however fully understood the reasons due to Covid regulations. Staff extremely helpful and knowledgeable
F. B.
Great place to visit! Beautiful gardens
P. M.
Definitely worth a visit...but not as the only or main attraction
J. T.
Superb attraction, not too big as to be boring for youngsters but with plenty still on offer. Incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff full of facts and stories. Excellent!
D. E.
Such a beautiful place to visit and chill in the greens surrounding
T. H.
So pretty 😍
