Reviews of Ashton Court
T. K. D.
Nice place to hang on.
If going by public transport, then it’s little more time consuming.
I had planned from the Clifton village and it took me around 1hour because of the delay in bus frequency (route 505). Good place for photography. Full of natural sceneries.
I had to walk for 15-20mins to reach at the destination from the bus stop.
L. H.
Ashton Court is a lovely outdoor space to visit, meet up with friends and family. Good place to take your dogs for a walk. And the deer park is a bonus as it is lovely to see the deers. They also have a a nice cafe and toilets.
J. Ż.
Great outdoor place with the Court in the centre of it. You can walk, cycle, play golf (nearby) and football there and always come back to the Court for yet another well-deserved refreshment. It's also the host of the Light Festival in winter and many cool activities (to name the Balloon Festival) in the summer. Great city panorama too!
H. P.
Beautiful park. Fantastic place for a picnic. Old trees, spacious lawns, dogs, deers, history talking. Mountain bikers van find their place too... I just live it!
C. S.
Lots to see in the gardens plenty of walks kids loved exploring the woods dog friendly great to see the deer reasonably priced cafe public toilets available and ample parking
P. B.
Lovely old estates bought for the people of Bristol to use, much loved in the local area and further afield. Lovely cafe, toilets, cheap car park(including disabled), well maintained gardens and wider estate to explore and picnic in. Two deer herds (red and fallow I think!). Golf course on the upper estate. Walking and cycling routes too.
r.
An hour went in a flash in this place. The footpaths are useful.
D.
Great views with lots of open space to enjoy. Always kept up together and clean. Would highly recommend taking a visit especially now that the weather is improving.
A well deserved 5 stars
D. H.
A stone's throw away towards the edge of Bristol, Ashton court exhibits a beautiful 18th century mansion house as well as a formal rose garden and small pond surrounded by acres of parkland, woodland and a deer park all overlooking breath taking views of Bristol.
D. A.
Fantastic Park but wasted opportunity with the building use. It should be a really nice Manor to look round. Good walking and cycling paths.
S. G.
Shame to not be able to go in the house but the deer park was amazing.
G. R.
Have started going to Parkrun on Saturday mornings here. It's s bit of a tough run as the first half of the 5km is uphill. Second half is all downhill though. Beautiful gardens.
C. C.
A wonderfully open place to walk with children and dogs. Watch out for ticks. My son picked one up recently. I'm guessing from standing near the deer fencing whilst lookingvat the deer.
M. G.
Beautiful, great walks, lovely events - saw a circus performance with Many Hands. Fantastic!
S. (.
Great place to walk but can be very busy.
D. B.
Wonderful parkland owned and appreciated by the people of Bristol in fair weather and foul.
Y.
Fantastic and expansive park full of different walks for hikers, cyclists and dog walkers to enjoy alike. Great idea for an afternoon out in the Bristol area.
S. K.
Absolutely gorgeous and free!! Parking is under £2 for the day. Lots of open space, great cafe and got to see plenty of deer! Would recommend
k. h.
Beautiful place :) friendly staff in the cafe & easy walks, even for those with a cane
D. M.
Beautiful place for a gentle amble on a weekend. Always feel so calm here.
A. C. (. C. P.
Beautiful grounds and perfect place to walk the dog, go for a cycle ride and get some fresh air.
k. y.
I love everything abt this estate. A good place for a nice walk, be a little way from bustling Bristol city centre.
D. D.
Beautiful grounds. Cafe not great.
J. D.
Great space for walks with the family . Good refreshments in the cafe.
R. G.
Lush afternoon with my girls, the Pooches and a great opportunity to meet the lovely Kath & her lush dog Bella.
M. G.
So nice to have good quality green space near the centre of the city!
J. D.
Lovely day spent with family, well worth a visit to the steam trains up by the golf course. But check which days it is open. Not an expensive ride either everyone pays £1.30. Good value for money
B. C.
I'm writing a book on the Astry family of the Great house in Henbury, and the oldest sibling was Elizabeth Astry Smyth. Her dowry from Sir Samuel Astry paid for a lot of the work done in the early 1700s. As a mother of seven children also supplied the children to continue the Smyth dynasty.l
Fascinating read. Out soon!! Look out for it.
G. R.
Beautiful big grounds for families to explore, with buggy/scooter friendly paths, regular deer sightings and woods to get lost in.
M. J.
Amazing place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city
A. c.
Beautiful views of Bristol city. Lovely walk or bike ride. Great MTB trails
R. P.
Excellent attractive and varied terrain for walking. Attractive formal gardens a d whole area well maintained.
The cafe is good, but used to enjoy toasted tea cakes. Good lunch snacks, but with the tables and benches removed, how to enjoy them? Would think visitors using these would be at less risk than from people moving to play area, stone steps, plinth of the cat or alcoves and steps of the mansion
L. M.
Great walk around the park and down to the bridge
P. L. (.
A very enjoyable walk around with the family and our pet dog, lovely scenery plenty of exercise especially in this pandemic. Lovely little cafe serving takeaway from the ashton court mansion on the courtyard selling toasties, brunch and tea or coffee slightly expensive but reasonable food. We had a lovely day.
R. J.
Lovely place to take kids and the dog
D. B.
Beautiful open park and woodland, enjoyable for all ages plus groomed gardens to enjoy some quiet space, idyllic scenery and beautifulto see the deer in their habitat. Food and drinks served as takeaway, plus ladies and gents facilities if needed.
M. L.
Nice park and nice day out
N. D.
Lovely place - obviously very busy at the moment as walking is the main thing you're allowed to do. Grounds are clean and tidy, cafe makes a mean hot chocolate
B. G.
Vast estate with Mansion House, Golf course and acres of beautiful grasslands for those much needed walks.
t. P.
Lovely walk on a sunny day.
P. H.
An outstanding Country Estate Park, just on the outskirts of Bristol offering unrivalled amenity for everyone, young and old. Just the place for a picnic, either in the company of others or in your own special place. it's parkland of 850 acres are perfect for walkers. amblers, cyclists, dogs and you can even ride your horse here if you wish. There is ample parking, entry is free and there is plenty of disabled access.
The mansion house is grade 11• listed and I would say 'an acquired taste'...and one that I struggle to acquire..
N. N.
Beautiful landscape; managed but great terrain for mountain biking and facilities as well. Good parking available in the different entrances as well as a cafe by the main house. The blue and red trails available are well looked after and the Nova is pretty flowy. Will be back to explore and ride some more
V. G.
A wonderful free resource. Amazing views of the countryside. Fabulous to get so close to the deer. Friendly staff in tea room. Could use more sign-posting & attention to plants e.g. in the rose garden. Still highly recommended. Very peaceful.
C. I.
Fantastic estate. A lot of green where to walk or run. Perfect for the little ones. The renderer park and the mini train are a great addition. Perfect for a while day trip with the family!!
D. L.
Ashton Court is a beautiful place at any time of year. We are very lucky to have access to it. Wonderful walks. A lovely Rose garden and good cafe. Something for all the family.
C. P.
I sentence you to have a great time here! (it's a court pun). Lovely place. Lots of grass. Not too busy. Cafe and toilets open (July 2020) with social distancing rules in place.
F. P.
We live close to the park and it's amazing. Awesome place to find some peace close to the city centre.
A. L.
Wonderful place to have aday out.
N. M.
Mountain biking, frisbee golf, football golf, golf golf, or just walking the dog, Ashton court has it all.
Love the place.
L.
Lovely estate and great place to walk the dogs, parking is only £1.20 a day all day, lovely grounds and a great walk
N. R.
Lovely massive park close to the city. Lists of deer. Great for bikes, dogs, kids. Fantastic woods. It's an amazing place.
M. B.
A beautiful picturesque location, easy accessible with ample parking. Perfect for runners, cycling, hikers and dog walkers alike. Ideal for family picnics and lazy summer days.
C. S.
Beautiful day for a walk and a picnic here. Plenty of space to walk around and take your dogs. Love it here. You can buy an icecream and takeaway food here
H. H.
Fabulous outdoor space for everyone to enjoy. Includes 2 deer parks with Red Deer and Fallow Deer. A great cafe and toilets, reasonably priced parking with the historic house at the centre.
C. B.
Restrictions limit the attraction unfortunately x😿
L. C.
Our lifeline but so busy at weekends that I won't go after 10 am. Understandable because of the pandemic but the crowds make it nearly impossible to keep a safe distance.
j. b.
Always a joy to visit endless walks has been my go to place since original lockdown .toilets and take away hot drinks open good for socially distanced walks and picnics.my friends dogs love it .
C. G.
Stunning views of the Bristol skyline, children will love the deer and a good abundance of wildlife. The estate is huge, so comfortable footwear is recommended if you're going to explore.
C. B.
Beautiful park near Bristol.
Home to the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta a Great place to watch the hot air balloons launch from in the summer, picnic, some really good mountain bike tracks, golf course, miniature railway. Ashton Court House is a stunning property gently neglected by Bristol City Council
S. W. (.
The woodland walks and cycle trails are brilliant. Cafe staff were so helpful came in late but still treated very well.
C. R.
Great place to go to walk the dog. Plenty of open space. Toilets are closed even though the cafe is serving refreshments on take out basis
E. B.
Beautiful location for a picnic on a sunny day. Facilities were open and clean. Parking was very reasonable. Highly recommended.
T. “. T.
Very nice café. Especially the dairy free brownies. On the walk we saw many a squirrel showing off its amazing acrobatics in the trees!
C. T.
A lovely walk but the car park was so busy by 11, cars were circling the car park waiting for a spot. Best to get there early to guarantee a spot.
M. H.
Great stately home! Amazing building, good for many things you can get married at the big house. Or take your dog for a walk in the grounds, picnicking is a must here, lots of space to explore and wonder around. If you are a Bristolian or if you are visiting a lovely day out all round!
P. T.
Massive open space with great views and facilities whether for walking the dog, mountain biking, a bit of relaxed golfing or just enjoying a tea and a snack with views down over Bristol
K.
Nice place to walk. There is a small coffee shop there. Great place to stop after a cycle ride on the cycling path nearby.
P. N.
Brilliant country estate for walks at any time of the year.
K. H.
Lovely place to take the children / grandchildren. Cafe open with appropriate safety measures in place. Lots of people with their dogs
M. P.

m. c.
I am a regular visitor, always a nice place to visit
C. A.
Wonderful park for a winter walk thigh a little too popular if you want to get away from the crowds
s. t.
The grounds are really nice and open with great views. The main house is a little sad and dilapidated from the looks of it. There is parking and a cafe on site.
C. G.
Ashton court is one of Britain's hidden gems. It's rolling hills can help you to give your legs a stretch if you're feeling fit. If you aren't much of a walker and prefer a picnic and casual stroll, there is a botanical garden to the side of the manor house that is truly gorgeous. The court yard to the side of the house offers garden seating for the small cafe where you can also get some light meals and drinks. If you're feeling more adventurous, the top half of Ashton court hosts a sports cafe and car park, which is the starting point for its nursery mountain bike trails. As a newbie to mountain biking, I've found the trails here a brilliant place to learn. They have blue and red options in many places for those who are a bit more experienced. The latest renovations include resurfaced areas of the track. The only slight negative of Ashton Court is that it has pay and display car parks.
A. B.
Just fab for kids and families and adults and cyclists and everyone really! Cafe was cute and had a wide variety of snacks despite covid situ.
S. M.
Cheap car parking, amazing view, lot of services and historic places you can find here and enjoying. Really good place for family, young people and tourists. Also it's safe place.
P. W.
Fresh air and lovely walks, close to Southville.
M. C.
A nice place for a walk but has lots of people and lots of dog walks around if you want to keep away from crowds
K. C.

D. W.
Great place to walk your dogs and the courtyard cafe does a fine sausage sandwich and great cappuccino 👍
Y. H.
Not as wonderful as it used to be, when the cafe was a shop, the history of the estate was on huge posters on the walls, the grounds aren't as well kept as they were, and the pets graves are overgrown.
D. H.
Beautiful place for a dog walk in the sunshine. Coffee also available from friendly cafe. 😀👍
