Fantastic place! Very helpful team of friendly, knowledgeable volunteers on hand to answer any questions you may have. Great little shop and cafe to grab a bite to eat. The grottoes are fascinating too! Great value for money and a good local trip out all round.

Great place for a visit with lots of local history well worth a look and really good value too

We visited here this afternoon, what a fabulous place! There is a small car park and the museum is well signposted.
Run by volunteers, the museum covers local history from Roman times to the present day. It’s a very ‘old school’ museum so there is lots to read and see and it’s worth paying £6 for the annual membership so you can absorb a bit at a time.
The displays and models to illustrate topics are really well done. It really was fascinating to read about the way the area grew up and how it has changed so much, even in the last 50 years. It’s also surprising how much local industry has closed or moved away.
Very enjoyable visit and we will certainly visit again, hopefully when it’s dry so we can explore outside!
2nd visit, Aug 2022:
Despite living nearby for many years, this is the first time we have visited these grottoes and the Neptune statue. There are plenty of information boards to give you an idea of what the site was like in its heyday and how innovative Champion was. We spent an hour wandering between the different areas and it was a fascinating experience. It would be lovely if SGC invested some money to maybe refill the lake or otherwise help develop these as a tourist attraction beyond the immediate area.

Lots of local history on the local industries back as far as the 1800's well worth the £4 entrance fee. I joined as a friend of the museum om the day £8 for one year membership.I love local history on the day I looked at the boot and shoe industries with interest as an example. A Cafe on site.

A 'hidden gem'. Who knew? Thinking what to do ....travelling on the August Bank Holiday considered a no no....and up pops a Facebook post advertisement. Not far to cycle so off we went. Brilliant. Too much information to fully absorb on the one visit we ended up joining with annual memberships at a very reasonable cost. The Grotto and history of the area fascinating. Power to the elbows of the volunteers and organisers. As Arnie said "Well be back".

Very interesting. Lots of people around to answer questions. The grotto is fascinating.

Amazing little place. Despite a few pieces tucked away during C19 it's packed with historic facts and loads of original pieces. £3 is very reasonable and now its free during C19 so I donated my entrance fee.

Love this place. Full of local history. Discover something new on every visit.

Sweet little museum, the building has seen better days, but the info and displays are good. Well worth a visit. There is a little cafe for tea and cake.

Lovely quirky museum, staffed by enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers. Lots of displays focused on the local area, particularly its industries. The fascinating grotto nearby is open on special event days. And there's also the giant statue of Neptune (the country's largest garden ornament!) A recommended site to visit.

see. You can spend hours there.

What a lovely place this is! Maybe a hidden treasure to some but surprisingly larger than it looks, lots of interactive displays for children to enjoy and friendly, helpful staff. All while exploring the historical links to the area. There is a cafe and garden / grotto too to while away an easy few hours. Really recommend.

Attended their Books and Tools sale. Lovely gentlemen in the "Man Shed" with helpful advice on the tools available. Purchased a working B&D electric drill for £3 - bargain, back-up for old faithful - the electric drill my father gave me over 30yrs ago, even then it wasn't new.

An absolutely amazing museum, such a gem! There is so much interesting information and artifacts to take in and enjoy! I really love how they have already started to develop a section to the area in lockdown, as it's going to be such a huge part of history - very forward thinking. While the museum alone is superb, the real magic is created by tremendous volunteers, it was a delight listening to all there knowledge of the different displays and the area itself. Very friendly, welcoming, accessible (I use a wheelchair) and very proactive regarding covid measures. I only wish it was on my door step to spend more time at!

What a pleasant surprise this museum is; like the Tardis, it is bigger inside than you think. Full of excellent local history, and well worth the £3 entry charge, amd you can buy coffee and cakes, too.
P. H.
A wonderful museum staffed by volunteers. Covers the area's history from Roman times and celebrating local industry - brass foundry, coal mining, motorcycle manufacture, brush, boot, lingerie and other industries.
M. L.
Very good museum full of local history, with a little gem which is the grotto and Neptune statue.

Brilliant couple of hours spent here with my family. Would definitely recommend especially for those who may have gone to Kingswood schools or worked in the big factories years ago.

A great little museum covering the industrial and social history of the Kingswood area.
They have only just re-opened since the relaxing of the restrictions and have installed a one-way system through the museum - a handy map was supplied at the start of the visit (which also has a 'track and trace' information). Hand sanitising stations are sited throughout as are clear signs to maintain social distancing. Many 'hands-on' exhibits have been removed temporarily but there is still plenty to see and it's well worth a visit.
There was no entry fee but a donation was gratefully received.
Opening times are now Tuesdays and Saturdays from 11.00 until 5.00.
I would highly recommend a visit - don't forget your face coveringl

This museum is a hidden gem! There is so much to see there, that one visit isn't enough time. It is a good idea to check the times and go when the grottoes are open, as they are well worth the small entry fee alone. I still cannot believe that the largest industrial windmill is in Warmley, and that you can go inside it! Stunning!
S. H.
Well worth a visit, definitely if you are a local. I went today and saw some faces on the exhibits I knew from my school days. Staff were very helpful too x
J. D.
This local museum is a fascinating place to spend a few hours. Tons of things to see, walk inside the largest industrial windmill in Britain, have refreshments at the Windmill Café and find out about history on our doorstep. Not to mention the amazing grottoes! One visit won't be enough! Check website for opening times.

Amazing number of exhibits, and grottoes and grounds, including the 'giant of Warmley'. Am astonished that this is not better signposted. You hardly know this gem is there...
