J. H.The five stars relate to when We The Curious is open. It houses a hands-on exploratory with the sort of exhibits that I would love to have seen as a child. Unfortunately there was a fire earlier in year which means it is currently shut for repair. Apparently the fire was caused by gulls causing an electrical fire on the solar panels on the roof! While the exploratory is closed the staff are running free sessions in Millennium Square for children to build the biggest, tallest and most beautiful structures.
C. W.We had the best time at Chain Reaction, which was in Millennium Square and run by We The Curious, the Museum which is sadly closed due to a recent fire. Sign up is definitely required on the board outside the tent, so we registered then went somewhere else and came back for our session. About 45 minutes of building and a grand performance with everyone at the end - the atmosphere was brilliant. I thought the staff were utterly ace, every single one was child-oriented, super enthusiastic, and chatty with the grown ups so you felt like they really loved teaching everyone about science. We’d definitely look out for more school holiday events and can’t wait for the main museum to be back open.

L. K.We first went when the science museum was named @bristol and several times since then as "we the curious". What a fantastic place to take anyone. Kids yes but you could do on a date here it is so much fun and so much to learn. You can certainly spend a day or two hanging out in this fascinating place.
We loved the Observatories and the 3d Planetarium. The bubbles in “Our World”, of course, playing with magnets in the “Curiosity Zone”, sand, water! Absolutely everything fun for kids including an old fashioned brick area for building your castle.
We thought the animation section “Animate It” was terrific, and we explored every puzzle in “Your Amazing Brain”. I don’t think we would get fed up with this if we tried.
The food there is excellent, a little pricey, though, and straightforward. You can go out and come back, so there are a plethora of places so close that you can choose from if you prefer something more exotic than a coronation chicken jacket potato.
The fact that they support local charities is a bonus.
G.We the Curious (previously @Bristol), is an excellent place to bring young and old kids. There is plenty to do and plenty of space. There are two floors filled with lots of different scientific and animating stands to keep you and the kids occupied for hours.
Worth a day ticket or a full year pass.
There is a cafe, picnic area with vending machines, toilets upstairs and downstairs. There are 2 lifts and stairs.
They have a planetarium with regular shows throughout the day.
Worth a visit if you want to expand your mind or a child's mind,lota of fun exploring and learning to be done here!
J. F.A brilliant place to visit with the family with more interactive exhibits than the London Science Museum. I think you would need more than a day to do everything here with the majority of science stuff on the ground floor and more of a focus on animation on the second floor. There is also a planetarium which is worth booking for on arrival. Get there early and be a little structured to get the most of the exhibits. Millennium car park is a two minute walk away.
Z. K.One of the best children's museums I've been to... So well designed that can easily spend the whole day there. I took my son for his fourth birthday and he absolutely loved it. Facilities for lunch and bathroom/baby change are great. The variety of activities, including lots of hands on activities is stimulating and the open plan design facilitates child led experience. Would definitely recommend and am sure to visit again if I'm ever in Bristol!
L. M.My son and I decided to go away for a couple of days. I remember this place when it first opened so thought I would take him. I made the right choice he loved it. We had so much fun looking at animations and bubbles and lots of other amazing things. We did pay extra for the 3d solar system show and I will highly suggest to do it if you can it took my breath away and my son's too. He has talked about it non stop. Lots to do if suggest get there in the morning as it does get busy.
J. N.Wow, lots to do in here, you won't be able to fit it all in one day. Although most of the exhibits are aimed at older children, as it's all hands on, our two year old had a great time. They have a cafe and a indoor picnic area if you want to bring your own food, but you can also leave and return if you want to eat out. Definitely worth taking in a show at the planetarium as well.
A. m.large and open area, both fun and extremely educational, usually not really busy and tickets are affordable. Food and drinks are affordable and are great quality. Great for Children and Adults who like science or may be studying it.
P. s.This place satisfies the inner kid at so many levels! My only regret was going for the half price late entry tickets which were made available after 16:30. This meant we only had an hour to see all the exhibits (the planetarium show took up half an hour and the place closes at 18:00). Spending half a day would have done justice to this place. The planetarium show was awesome as well. A £ 1.75 well spent (Half price)!

F.Brilliant, bit expensive but worth it, we were there for 5 1/2 hours, and enjoyed every minute, we didnt have food there was that was far too expensive, but everything else was great, the one thing they can do is for more toilets it's quiet a big place and only have 2 toilets and one disabled they could do with another few or another on top level, staff were brilliant and very helpful, even when my little one went walk abouts they found her and bought her back to us, the planetarium was amazing for a extra £2.50 it is great, seats are very comfy and it's amazing to see the solar system that way, you can watch in 2d or 3d at diffrent times of the day, we would definitely recommend and go back again

Great planetarium shows in both 2D and 3D that involve making your own planet and searching the universe for alien life. Lovely and friendly staff.

A. L.Fantastic day out. I haven't been for over 10 years when it was previously @Bristol. Myself and my Wife went with our 15 month old who loved certain bits of it and he had an absolutely fantastic day, us included! Facilities were good and easily accessible. There was PLENTY of hand sanitiser stations, it all felt very safe! Cafe food/drink was also good value, we had a mid morning snack followed by a hot meal and felt no need to leave!

H. I.Overall I do love this place, it’s great for children and adults alike, though in the day time it gets really busy. I wanted to voice my concerns over the size of the planetarium seats. As a size 14 woman (UK average size is 16) the seats are uncomfortably small and rub on both sides of my legs, limiting movement. For comparison, I am small enough to find airplane seats spacious and comfortable. However, bigger problem at WTC was that my friend (size 20) could not fit to sit on the seat and had to sit separately from the rest of the family on a disabled seat. She found this experience incredibly dehumanising and humiliating, and she left after the screening, spent the day in her hotel room and did not want to join us for the rest of the day as she was so upset by the experience.
I am conflicted writing this review as I really like We The Curious but I am disappointed by the treatment of those with larger bodies. I would normally prefer to write an email but I think it’s important people have this information.
As people at a science museum should know, 24% of UK adult population living with obesity are likely to have bodies that do not fit well or at all on these seats. This is a very discriminated-against group. As a museum that clearly values inclusion and diversity in other aspects of life, I am surprised that they do not include those with larger bodies or fat people in this.
E. L.What an amazing experience! New, exciting interactive displays all around with some of the old favourites like the animation and bubbles still retained upstairs. So creative and well planned. An inspiring visit for children and adults. It made us feel how much wonder there is on this planet....and beyond. Totally recommend a visit. 😃😃😃
S. V.The best child focused museum we’ve visited by some way. Very interactive with EVERYTHING working! Thoughtful, interesting and designed with children in mind. That being said, l was equally as enthralled. We stayed from 11am till 5ish and could have stayed longer. Brilliant!

A. V.We visited We The Curious with our four year old soon after it reopened after lockdown and had a fantastic time. The new exhibits are really fun, engaging and educational. They've made great use of technology to create loads of interactive demos to explore and play with. It reminded me of the time I spent at the Exploratory when I was little and it was amazing to be able to give my little one an even better day out.
Parking in Millennium Square Car Park is pretty expensive so I suggest taking public transport if possible.
Can't wait to go back again soon.

J. A.Our 4th visit to We The Curious recently, having not been for a few years. We've always loved this place, with so much for the children to interact with and learn.
However, it's now sadly not as good as it used to be. It may be because of Covid, but the number of exhibits was much reduced compared to a few years ago. The ground level especially seemed to be taken up with large expanses of nothing. A number of the exhibits that were there either didn't work very well or were out of order. It seemed a lot of hands-on exhibits had been replaced with touch-screens with just text information (a lot of the touch screens need replacing, as they were very unresponsive).
The Planetarium was superb, as always. This really was the star of the show. It would be good if you could book the planetarium separately!
Overall, a good day out. It's not as good as it used to be, but I would still recommend it.

The outdoor area and paddling pools outside are great to spend a sunny afternoon with kids running around. Would definitely visit again and highly recommended

D. P.Took my two 7 year olds here during the school holidays and had a wonderful day. The price is fairly cheap in comparison to many 'days out' but you get a lot for your money. We the curious is packed with interactive experiments and demonstrations and there is something there to capture every imagination. The planetarium is also a must for any budding Brian Cox. Massive thumbs up from us. We will definitely visit again.
P. a. V. A.The family enjoyed the day we spent here. Our 3 year old and 8 year old both enjoyed themselves, as did we. Loads of hands on things to do. Both kids enjoyed the robot that hands out healthy recipes bases on questions it asks you, although I think it's only got a fairly small selection. We spent about 6 hours there, including lunch in the cafe.
I. H.Such a great day out. Checked the reviews before and lots of people saying don't take young kids, well we've got a two year old and he loved it! Great to have interaction between kids of all ages. So many different interactive things to see or just watch bigger kids use. Good Cafe and a picknick area, good toilets which is a must with a little one. Loved it will be back

D. A.Loads to do for the kids (aged 4 & 6) was quite busy but to be expected on a rainy day, the animation part upstairs was good and interesting and kept the kids entertained. Overall worth the money especially when you can leave and re-enter on the wristbands. Don't forget to scan your wristbands on the scanners and check out on-line when you get home 👍👍

L. H.We had a lovely day out at the toddler takeover day. Our 3 year old loved trying out the different exhibits and rhere was so much for him to do. All the staff were really friendly towards us and interacted with our little one. The number of visitors was just right, it didn't feel too busy or overcrowded. We liked the fact they have no issue with you bringing your own food and refreshments, they even have a picnic area where you can eat. I'd definitely come again

We went on a specific toddler day which meant the little ones had the run of the place, it's brilliant fun for them with lots of activities. Older kids must love it too as it's geared towards education and learning, but it was nice that they have a day for the wee ones so they're not nudged out by the bigger kids. Brilliant!!!!

H.my family love we the curious and have been members for few years now. we revisited after the new exibit and sadly disapointed the ground floor used to be full of interesting experiments still load of good ones but lots is missing and lots of display still to be finished, my 2 girls where disapointed in the new setup to much talking on screens not as interactive as before they said.
D. S.We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here during the summer holidays. As we booked in advance online we got in at the bargain price of £6.00 a person plus a booking fee. There was a lot of interactive exhibits to keep 3 children under the age of 13 busy for a few hours and even the adults had a go!! Would definitely recommend dropping by if you are in the Bristol area.

We were there a lot longer than i expected to be. Perfect for under 10s. Giant lego, making animations, giant bubbles, lots of fun machines to move. Brilliant.

L. S.My little girl is only one but we love this place so much we've got annual membership. There's loads to look at and touch and play with, and a big space to explore. The cafe has toys for little ones. There's a buggy park. Really recommend if you've got kids, or even if you haven't!
F. V.Last night was incredible. It was my mates birthday, so we had a small group watch the dark side of the moon planetarium visual sensation. It starts with old school Microsoft animation but develops into some real trippy visuals. The staff had the highest level of customer service I've seen in a very long time. Extremely professional as well as extremely accomodating and friendly. The staff on last night did a fantastic job, just a shame I forgot to take any names! An evening entertainment for £10, get on it 👍
D. B.As two big kids we loved it and really enjoyed all the interactive exhibits. The planetarium was great too. We went on a busy Saturday but would probably go on a week day or to an adults event in future as the place was (understandably) full of kids. It's a bit pricey but a good thing to do in Bristol on a rainy day.
s. b.I visited here years ago when it was @bristol, and we visited again yesterday. Not much has changed, the exhibits were the same. That said my 6 year old enjoyed it much more than when he was 3. It was very interactive and fun. We also booked onto the 3D planetarium which was amazing! My lad absolutly loved it, it really did feel like travelling through space. Not advisable if you do get motion sickenss. My only criticism would be the size of the chairs in the planetarium. I am by no means a skinny Minnie but I am the average UK woman's size and these seats were very uncomfortable on my hips. I just about fit in them! The planetarium show lasts for about half an hour so anyone bigger than me would find this quite uncomfortable. The seats at the cinema are bigger than these ones.
My lad spent a good hour in the building section building big houses and walls with the other kids. It's amazing how much entertainment a few foam bricks can provide. My lad also enjoyed the water fountains out the front of we the curious so do bring change of clothes and a towel. In all it was a great day out
L. N.Great for a day out with kids, lots of stuff to do with kids. Got lots of interactive stuff for kids and for adults. Got a cafe so no need to take a lunch. Quite reasonable price for what it is. It is worth a day out. It will take a whole day especially if you have you kids. Very helpful staff and is a clean and tidy place. The only thing that I would say is bad is the price of the shop.

R. V.I went here back in 2009/2010 and decided to return this year when my partner and I went on holiday to Bristol. It was still as brilliant and fascinating as it was before. The staff were amazing and fun, which really added to the whole experience. It didn't seem like much has changed in those 8 years since being there before, but it wasn't an issue to me. Great place for all ages.

S.Noone to actually answer the phone, on a weekend, I accidentally booked the wrong dates as I looked at the calendar and assumed the last s was for Sunday for my visit, tried to rectify by calling them Friday evening from 4 pm and Saturday noone answered, then eventually read it that the phones was only manned Monday to Friday all sorted by Monday afternoon with a few emails looking forward to my visit the weekend
J. L.A great afternoon out, lots of exhibits to keep us entertained, kids and adults alike. It does cost a little more but the planetarium is worth it again even if you don't have kids with you. Plenty of spots around the centre as well to have your lunch if it's a sunny day. Only thing that prevents it being 5 star is the price.
B. G.Came here with my wife and 2 year old and we loved it. Everything is interactive and there's loads of different things to mess around with. Personally I really enjoyed the Aardman exhibits. We went there at 3:30 when the tickets halve in price. Meant we had less time there but it was plenty for our son.

Scanning your own personal barcode you can collect photos, animations, videos, recipes and now that you make along your way. Just fascinating and a great way to talk science with your children.

j. r.I live in Bristol. And was looking for something to do with my 3.5 and 19 month old.
It was good. But I think, for the amount of money you have to pay, it's better suited to children aged five and up.
You have to pay extra for the planetarium experience, plus there's no parking, so the nearby multi-storey car park cost me £6.50. So that's almost £34! Lucky we brought a picnic.
It is fun. But I can think of other things that we would enjoy more for the money.
E. C.This is a science museum targeted for younger kids. The entrance fee is rather expensive but it’s probably the best museum you can find in Bristol. The place was recently renovated and quite a lot of new facilities were added. But as an adult, this place might not be too appealing to you. There is a small cafe with tons of seating places near the entrance.

m. k.Fantastic Place with so much to learn and do. The staff were particularly good. They were well informed, encouraging and able to gauge the right level for their audience. Our grandson has insisted that we come again when he next visits and would like to move to Bristol!

J. C.Great place to visit with so much to do. Not cheap, so a whole day is needed. A few things were not fully working, but there are so many things to fiddle with. You need to get your kids to read the signage and understand each exhibit as they explore, otherwise it's just a day of pushing and pulling things.

R. M.Visited with the kids over Half Term and really enjoyed it. There are loads of exhibits and interactive things to try and do. As part of your entry fee, you also get a barcoded wrist band which can be scanned throughout your visit, to make a fantastic record through photos and videos. By scanning your barcode you save activities you've done, which can then be accessed anytime via a website. Well worth a visit but be prepared to spend the majority of the day here.

C. B.I have been coming to this place for years and always found it good for a couple of hours entertainment. My kids are always keen to go, even if it has lost it's novelty for me a little over the years. I'm not quite sure about re-brand as I feel that they could have focused a bit more on refreshing the activities and exhibits.
N. C.Fantastic place for the terminally curious. There are lots of interactive exhibits which will keep kids and adults of all ages entertained. I particularly enjoyed the growing ice crystals and was disappointed to learn how bad my hearing is in the audio tester.

J. V.I can not speak highly enough of the care and attention by all staff we met in a recent visit. I’m a support worker for an adult with complex autism, and we visited on the 22/8. I had phoned in advance to check facility’s etc and was offered help and guidance for our visit. On arrival we were greeted with care and respect, and when we visited the planetarium we were allowed to go in before everyone else, as my autistic friend finds queueing very stressful. The show producer came and welcomed us, and had turned the sound slightly down to help with our show experience. We both really enjoyed our visit from start to finish, and I must add this was mainly down to the understanding of my friends disabilities by
such caring staff! Well done to all at We the Curious.
E.5hrs went far too quickly for 10 year old Grandsons & 66 year old Grandmother. As one said "why go to museum when you just look & read when you can c one here & press all the buttons" Lots to see & do. The 3D show in planatarium well worth it . Good day out on rainy day
C. I.Highly recommended! Me and my boyfriend, both in our 30s, are absolutely passionate about space. We always have lots of fun, and learn lots of highly interesting new things during the Planetarium Nights.
C. K.Great science museum for adults and children. Lockers available for storing jackets, bags, etc. During the day, it is mainly focused on children and families, but At-Bristol also do adults only events in the evenings.
Entry is slightly expensive, especially for a family, however, if you think you'll go often, there are package deals. At-Bristol also do community days where entrance is free for voucher holders (given out at certain schools and community centres). As others have pointed out, you can bring your own lunch to make it cheaper. I also don't think At-Bristol is centrally-funded, so people shouldn't compare it's prices with say, the London Science Museum.
s. o.Brilliant time for the family. Children really enjoyed learning new things. Only advice is to take your own food as the cafe is a rip off. £2.20 for a can of diet coke. When asked why so much the reply.... sugar tax.... um it's sugar free. Extortionate prices. Can see why it doesn't have much business
T. M.Great place to spend an afternoon with the kids. Our boys (8 and 10) loved it and did not have nearly enough time to explore and do everything. I heard it can get crowded on a rainy day, we went on a wonderful Sunday afternoon and it was almost empty. It is not cheap but worth every penny.

Food was rather nice, salad very fresh and clearly use good ingredients. The only negative was I ordered a can of coke with my meal. When I realised they charge £2.20 for a can, I promptly return it used the free water dispenser.
I understand the need for a mark up to cover overheads etc, but £2.20? Id be happy paying £1.50, or paying £2.20 for a glass of coke (Not out of a can), but can's stretch that far as I just feel ripped off.
Hopefully we will visit the actual attraction on our next visit.
A. S.Overpriced for the experience. We would use it more and rate it higher if it was more affordable. Parent and 2 kids is about £30 - just not affordable to the majority of working families more than once or twice a year. when I was a kid the Science museum in London was free and we went all the time - I'm an aeronautical engineer now so I guess it was time well spent :-) The decision to reduce the size of the kids play area in the cafe recently baffles us - It was a big draw for toddlers and now they have a significantly worse setup. Just crazy. They are never packed out so I can't see that they needed the space. Some people just don't think...
K. R.LOVE taking the kids here, always keeps them occupied. That big dome thing outside is a marvel but I wish they'd open it up more because I always get pestered by my son for him to go inside. Yes, it does open up for people who don't know! But some tourists think it's just a sculpture with the amount of time it's kept shut. Please open it up, @Bristol.

Some exhibits have been there for years but never lose their charm or interactivity, whilst others are fresh and new each time. The Planetarium is probably only worth it the once, but I honestly recommend an annual trip to any locals - for children, adults and everything beside and between. Science and technology are the future, and @-Bristol provides plenty of both.

The only downside is the Moscow exhibit where the virtues of modern dairy farming are extolled and which completely ignores the reality behind the clip tableau presented It's the only thing I really take issue with and it's more disinformation than education

M. P.A fun and interesting place for people and kids of all ages, loads to do as a lot of the displays are interactive. From basic science to the latest technology, and all explained in a way that's easy to understand, and my wife says " and that's coming from someone who doesn't know how to work our dvd player ". In the reception area as you enter the building there's a nice cafe, would recommend the coffee and cakes. all in all a nice experience to while away a couple of hours, and then perhaps as we did, a stroll around the harbourside. ps if you find this review helpful, please give it a 👍

S. W.Brilliant! Took 3 grandkids age 2 to 9, all found it highly enjoyable, including the grandparents! It has a varied range of interactive scientific displays, with plenty of explanations on the principles demonstrated. For example, giant bubbles showing how the passage of light results in a multicoloured effect; a spinning metal disc on which various sized smaller discs on edge demonstrate the Coriolis effect (important in understanding weather as well as other things)
Don't miss the planetarium, especially the 3d, one of the 'wow' highlights.
There's a cafe and also an indoor picnic area. Parking close by at the Millenium Square. Also lockers to put rucksacks and bags in if required.

T.My family and I decided to spend Saturday in the area around we the curious, As someone who has lived a lot of my life in and around Bristol I don't spend enough time enjoying the lovely areas of town.As a group of 7, aged 9months to 55yrs ,we had an amazing adventure along the waterfront, very relaxing, watching the boats and the steam train, drinking coffee and eating.We spent little cash and had fab time.Def going back for more.Please, don't miss out and as I said you need not go into places that may cost and still have fun.
S.Great museum but unfortunately many of the exhibits have seen better days and many of them are broken. This could be a 5* place if they'd do a bit of maintenance but in its current state I'm not sure it's worth the entrance fee.

D.As a middle-aged academic at a Computer Science Department 1 hour away by public transport from @Bristol, you can imagine how I felt when I was asked to attend a public engagement there, and during my period of sabbatical too! But as I understand the need to make our subject more accessible to the public I reluctantly agreed. The presentation, by my colleagues: Dr Robit Q Its-Worthit and Dr An-Dryer Theodourisyou, was every bit as exciting as I was expecting. But what I wasn't prepared for was the warm welcome and excellent professionalism by the @Bristol staff, both on the front desk: (Tony, Andy and Allison) and in the cafe where we were offered drinks of our choice by two charming young staff members; one male, one female. My department is currently activating an
Engage the Public Initiative, therefore Robit and I (as senior colleagues) were asked to show a good example to An-Dryer as part of professional development, by engaging in accessible non-scientific (which does NOT mean 'dumbed-down') conversation with those present.
The staff, mentioned above, took it very bravely and endeavoured to make us feel as much at home as was possible under the circumstances.

B. B.Went here on the 6th February (Birthday treat). I am a space fan (saw Professor Brian Cox LIVE in Cardiff last year). The Planetarium itself seats 98 people. I just read SOME negative reviews on here and personally I think some of the naysayers need to wake up. The shows are very informative and it opens one's mind to what's out in the universe. I found the seats themselves are extremely comfortable. Many thanks to Nick (Mohammed Salah lookalike) and the wonderful female staff who looked after the crowd tonight. I was also privileged to take part in the "Mars" ball throw and catch segments. Will definitely recommend this Planetarium to any upcoming star gazers in the Bristol area x
