Reviews of Coventry Transport Museum
I. S.
Having visited a few transport museums I can honestly say that this museum is in the top 3 in the country. Children and adults will love this place, packed with history very well laid and out easy to navigate. Parking nearby in Bishop Street I paid £4 for 3 hours. I can highly recommend this Museum and the nearby Esquires Coffee shop. The staff were great.

Lovely place to visit, so much knowledge to learn about Coventry and the history of all sorts of vehicles and transport. Hands on activities and informative exhibits. The whole history of transport all laid out in a really enjoyable journey of time.
Great disabled access and toilets, reasonably priced cafe and decent gift shop with something for all wallets, they even do a pocket money bag for 5 pound including a variety of items.
Every single member of staff were happy, polite informative and helped us out loads, from showing us where the lift was to telling us how to use the penny press machine, nothing was too much trouble.
With the 12 month free return ticket included in the entry price this place is a bargain and needless to say, we will return. Highly recommended.
Thank you for a great place to visit.

We took our four year old grandson there and he loved it! It's quite a lot of walking, but so much to see and we took our time. They have everything there relating to bikes, motorbikes, cars and early city transportation. They also have a couple of military tanks and fire engines. At the end of the tour are the customized cars that broke the land speed limit. Brilliant. Nice coffee shop can be accessed when finished for coffee and something to eat. They even have kids meals.

We visited Coventry as we had some things to do and someone recommended this place to visit. So grateful to her xx, it's a Fantastic place for all ages! So much history, the videos are following from where the previous one left. Kids get excited about it too, there is a place where the little ones can do activities and so much more. We'll definitely be back

A large museum, very modern and really well laid out, with directional arrows in place to make sure you don't miss anything. A lot of bicycles, motorcycles and vintage cars on display along with a few commercial and military vehicles. I wanted to see more from the 70's and 80's however, and I was surprised there weren't any of the iconic British Leyland cars. Still, the huge, record breaking land speed vehicles, were a real highlight at the end. Finally the cafe served really good coffee and the museum staff were very friendly.

One if the best museums of transport even been. You could find from bikes, to motorbikes, a lot if cars of different ages, some Royal state vehicles, some war vehicles and buses, the Jaguar exhibition and some racing cars. Also you would find some works from Coventry university. Note that the entrance might be a bit expensive but if you are local ask for the CV card that would allow you to entry by free. If you really love cars, leave free at least 3h of your time to see the entire museum properly and take some pictures.

Great museum well worth the money tickets last for 12 month's so you can go back and take it all in again. Covers transport in Coventry not just the exhibits but the history of Coventry and the people who made it great and the place it is today. The museum seems to go on forever just when you think it's done there's more from toy car's to Thrust SSC the actual one or two land speed vehicles. Make a day of it get there early so you can visit the cathedral and the music museum which I missed so I'll be going back see there.
D. 3.
A great experience and voyage. The history and details of some of the greatest inventions of our modern age.
A huge variety of vehicles from push bikes, scooters, motorcycles and cars.
Loads of information and interactive stations.

Visited a couple of weeks ago while I was back seeing my family, me and my father went on a Sunday which by happy accident is only a pound to park all day in the public parking behind the museum, I would do a Sunday early as parking was pretty full as we left. We both thought it was a great museum well worth the money tickets last for 12 month's so you can go back and take it all in again. Covers transport in Coventry with a wonderful mixture of all vehicle's but, also the history of Coventry and the people of the city. The museum is nicely laid out has a lot of content, ranging from toy cars to 2 land speed vehicle's, there was when we visited staff member with the land spped vehicles who would answer questions about Thrust SSC which is the holder of the record now. We spent a good 2-3 hours and was well worth the visit.

We visited today as a family of 4. Two adults and one 5 year old came to £39 at the door. I was unable to prebook online when I went to do it last night which was annoying. My 2 year old was free. These tickets allow you to return for 12 months which is good.
The museum exhibits are really good, lots of interesting cars, bikes, buses to look at.
The reason why I've given this a 3 star is brcause I feel for the price, all of the interactive displays should be working. We found most of them turned off or were out of order. I understand that they may have removed them for covid reasons but we're in August 2022 and I think by now, with hand sanitiser dotted around the place, everything should be working.
Also, I would avoid trying to use the vending machine in the 'picnic' area. It doesn't take £1 or 20ps so I ended up putting 75p into the machine and it wouldn't take anything else, and wouldn't return my money. I know it's only 75p but I had a thirsty daughter. I did alert a member of staff who did try to get someone to help, but apparently the lunch time rush was on so no one could help.
All in all, a nice few hours but either the price should be dropped to account for the inactive interactive displays or they should be fixed. As should the vending machine.
Also there is no parking but there is a car park just around the back of the museum.
R. V. R.
It is an impressive museum, describing the evolution of the transportation technology. The museum also emphasizes on Coventry’s industrial history during the 20th century up to the last decade, including the various adversities in the sector. Another interesting object is the supersonic car that has broken the land-speed record.
S. G.
This place is bigger than I thought it would be. It's around £14 entry fee. It's starts off with early transport, like early bicycles, then the first cars and so on. You can learn about Coventrys car manufacturering history. If your into cars, this is a good place to kill 2-3 hours.
S. D.
Given your tickets are valid for a year, the price is worth it and the car collection is really something to be admired. A very professional and well spaced out museum for people of all ages and interests.
D.
A real hidden gem! Hadn't planned on visiting but so glad we did. A smorgasbord of information and unique vehicles including land speed record holders and Sinclair's own C5. Heck I even saw a Raleigh Grifter...childhood memories. Apologies all you BMXers! Super organised, friendly and helpful staff, not over crowded and a well thought out chronogical path with a nod to the importance of Coventry in UK transportation history.
S.
If you like a bit of childhood nostalgia from the days. And I don't just mean the old cars. I'm talking about the Santa sleigh ride, an actual one that was originally installed in your local co-op. It's one of only a couple in existence at over 60 years old. They keep it in top condition and have set up a really cool Santa experience. An absolutely wonderful experience.
B. M.
Had a great time with my grandson took about 2 hours to get through great history and love the way it's laid out. starting with vintage bicycles moving to peddle motorcycles, motorcycles, very early cars rite to land speed world record break jet engine cars 5⭐
T. R.
One of the best Transport Museum in Uk. Loved it.
Such a great collection of transport History
Children will definitely Enjoy it and Family too.
M. M. 4.
This place is a part of Coventry people and our history. There is a giant collection of old cars, bikes, busses , at Christmas time it opens the doors to Santa's sleigh ride which used to be in the coop that is no more. This is something hugely nostalgic to the people who live here who know this through generations.
l. h.
What a great day out brilliant museum well woth a visit the place is massive tuck us hours to walk around it.
T. B.
Great museum that details the United Kingdom's transportation history. It starts from the coaches to the penny farthings all the through the early cars at the beginning of last century, to the modern speed and sleek designed vehicles that are world famous. Some of the fastest cars are here. Great experience for those that are not even car made as well.
J. O.
Went here for a visit as a treat for my hubby, as he loves old cars, bikes, buses etc. Was not disappointed, so much to see, toy models as well. World war display very good, army vehicles, and an old garage set all added to the day. Had a coffee at lunchtime, then went round again for a second look. You need at least 3-4 hrs to do this museum justice. And even better, the tickets last for a whole year, so you can return again when you feel like it. Memories, old cars, and out of the elements, for a nostalgic day you would be hard pressed to beat this.
A. F. C.
Love this place..on a day when you have nothing but time on your hands it's a great place to walk about and look at fabulous vehicles through history..and the collections are immaculate.
P. M. H. (.
A wonderful testimony to Coventry's role in mobilising the world ... So many brands disappeared. Long live Jaguar (Land-Rover)!
I.
I wasn't expecting a lot but I was very surprised. The presentation of the museum is fantastic, a lot of effort has been put into presenting the cars and it really transports you back.
Also to see all 3 land speed record vehicles in one place was great.
P. M.
Nice little museum, plenty of beautiful old cars atmosphere bit too dark for my taste. 15 pounds adult entrance when I visited. Overall a nice experience, I would recommend.
A. K.
Fantastic museum, mainly devoted to British motor industry. The exponats are arranged chronologically with plenty of educational films. Great for the whole family. Reserve minimum 3-4 hours, but for moto fans the whole day! It is suitable for disabled users (lifts available). Carers come free - you cannot book carer's ticket in advance online but there is no problem to get one at the ticket desk. Our gift aided tickets have been upgraded to a year pass. There is coffee shop at the entrance, but inside there is picnic area next to the camping and special vehicles section. It is much larger than London Transport Museum and devoted mostly to motor industry, not to public transport. Worth to plan a day trip to see the world record breakers! There is a decent Britannia Hotel just opposite with large, reasonably priced family rooms. Closest parking is on Bishop Street with very reasonable rates £3-5. Highly recommended!
W. D.
Traveled from South wales yes a long drive but well worth it it was eye opening both my children loved it the staff were very friendly and helpful will definitely go again
S. G. M.
Everyone especially students and individuals having passion with motorcycle and car should visit. I genuinely recommend you all to go for it.
A.
A great museum! Lots of interesting cars, motorbikes and bicycles, lots of interesting information on the history of the automotive industry in Coventry and Midlands
R. b.
Myself and my children enjoyed the museum. There was plenty to see, it was worth the money we paid esp as we can revisit throughout the year.
W. B.
Great museum right in the city centre. Covers everything from bicycles to record breaking jet cars to future tech..Well laid out and plenty of room. Very enjoyable. Well worth a visit
G.
Amazing value for money💰there is so much to see here! It’s starts with bikes and takes you all the way to the modern day 🚗 it’s really interesting see the history and change of the motor industry 🚙 definitely worth a visit 👌
P. W.
Excellent a must if you can this place is tardis like it has something for everyone you will need longer than you think. And the cafe is very good 👍
J. W.
Wonderful transport museum. Great couple of hours musing through the antique and not so antique cars and other modes of transport
c. b.
Really interesting and informative.
Some lovely cars and bikes to see, especially the Jaguar section.
Great tea room with some nice healthy options too.
Looking forward to another visit next year.
S. B.
Stopped here as a mid point to meet up with relatives. This place well exceeded expectations. By chance there was a special tour for 0-4 year olds. My daughter loved this and I was really impressed with the play and craft area upstairs. The staff were really kind and helpful, it was easy to get our push chair round. The food in the cafe was better than expected (sandwiches are huge, plenty of high chairs for babies) and we got a great deal on museum entry as two adults went free with the child's tour. Not sure what more you could ask for. Great location. Great fun. Thanks Coventry transport museum for a splendid day.
m. T.
Very enjoyable afternoon. Surprised to see my dads first car...pretty in blue and yellow where his was black...the London style cab...but my Humber super snipe in 1968 I thought was great but to see earlier versions...wow.
D. T.
Loved it. Amazing displays of cycles, bikes and so many different cars. Great history and information details. Did I miss the Sunbeam Alpine. My much longed for car as a young woman!!! Son and Grandson both thought it was great so it pleased 3 generations.
D. R.
Loved this museum. Free to Coventry residents, this museum is a must see. So much history all from Coventry! The growth of the motor car is fascinating and there are some great exhibits and interesting facts for all ages. Possibly could be a bit more interactive for little ones but there is so much to see. Nice shop and cafe too.
G. S.
Interesting and cash only (didn’t bother me) on the day as system down. Staff really good
D. M.
A great array of exhibitions! Ticket value amazing, even more so that they last for a year!!
D. W.
Absolutely fantastic.
What history we have in Great Britain.
From the early bicycle to the fastest car ever driven.
Plus amazing iconic vehicles in between.
I highly recommend a visit.
D. J.
My daughter and Grandkids were very excited to have been there
T. W.
This transport museum goes back to the very early stages of historic transport & gradually works its way through the years to the modern. I near enough spent the whole day here, as there is so much to see & photograph too. Fantastic displays. Staff are very friendly. To save a little, make sure you purchase your tickets online. Parking is nearby at a pay & display.
O. A.
Wonderful atmosphere. Very much packed with a lot of interesting stuff. A must-visit for people that love and are interested in the evolution of transportation. The ticket allows you have unlimited access to the museum for up to a year which is fair in my opinion.
Would gladly recommend.
C. B.
Fantastic collection of vehicles, through the ages, that all have a connection to Coventry. Some amazing cars are inside as well as some landspeed vehicles. Well worth a visit.
A. R.
Really fantastic museum with lots of good exhibitions! Will come back again soon. :)
R. C.
Absolutely loved this museum and I’m not especially into cars! It’s thematic, taking transport history from the Penny farthing to a - frankly insane - rocket propelled vehicle. You can see tractors, a Blitz experience and a fantastic array of model cars.
The movies were especially informative.
Lots for old and young, plus a cafe! And a tractor.
Great museum that would stand up to some of the best in our capital cities. Go visit.
W. G.
Used to be free admission but now you pay 14 pounds per person. This however includes free admission all year which is great value for money. Its a great place to visit whilst in Coventry.
j. m.
We visited on a Sunday and did not have to queue at all. There is no parking at the actual museum but the Belgrade car park is only a five minute walk away. The exhibits are first class and there is plenty to see. The price was reasonable and your entry pass is valid for a year and you can visit as often as you like. When we came from the museum area we went to the cafe on site but were disappointed as there was very little left in the way of food only two solitary sandwiches and no jacket potatoes so we left and went somewhere else for food. However on the whole a thoroughly enjoyable day.
C. L.
Visited the museum with friends as part of my first time to Coventry City centre and what a gem of a place.
Modes of transport are laid out in chronolgical order giving you not just the dates and technical details of them, but also the social history of the era the time when they were made.
So, for example, we see cars of the 70s along with information on industrial action in the struggling car industry. Sadly the precursor to the demise of mass car production that fed the economy of Coventry and surrounding areas.
I enjoyed the way the exhibits wind their way through the building, reminding me a little of an Ikea shopping experience!
Then, there are the staff. A friendly knowledgeable bunch who genuinely appeared to enjoy their jobs.
One of the staff happened to be passing and overheard me commenting on the Thrust land speed vehicles. He stopped and filled us in on some interesting anecdotes regarding the project. His knowledge and enthusiasm was obvious and priceless.
Like all interesting museums, there is just too much to see and take in during one visit. So will definitely return to the museum on my next visit to this great city.
T. B.
I got in for free with my Go CV card. Excellent value for me and my son. Good place to visit.
I was most impressed with Thrust 2, again. My son liked the WW2 vehicles.
Really good.
A. M.
Great selection of exhibits, great displays and some really unusual items. Feels bigger on the inside than it looks and good value with the tickets being valid for a year 🙂 well worth a visit!!!!
j. a.
A great few hours looking at the history of transport from bicycles, motor bikes and cars. Our two year old granddaughter's enjoyed it as well. If you are a Coventry resident it is free with a CV card.
D. T.
Well presented museum of motor exhibits, not just vehicles made in Coventry. Personally I would like more technical details on the display boards, but that's a quibble really. There are some amazing exhibits, also a very good coffee shop.
B. T.
Great selection of exhibits from yesteryear to modern. From 2 wheels to Jet engine powered land speed record breakers. Something for everyone.
v.
Great museum to visit. They have a lot of variety from cars, motors and even buses.
M. N.
Great selection of stuff to interact with. Not all that stuff works but it was still fun!
I. L.
I love this museum, will be back soon
P. L.
We were welcomed and helped a lot in this museum by helpful and friendly staff. We even got a sneak peak into a new section they hadn't opened yet, by the amazing people who lovingly restore the cars including unique prototypes (I wish more people could meet and talk to these guys, they were superb. One of the best bits).
The collection is mostly about the many makes that made Coventry the British Motor-City for well over a century, making the millions of bicycles, cars and commercial vehicles made in this area.
It's an evocative collection. Old timers will recognise so many now rare, lost classic cars and bicycles from Britain's great industrial age. Why isn't Britian more like this today? The wonderful people who made them STILL are. It was rather moving.
b. k.
It was a amazing days for our kids and us. On the other hand we get some surprises from RAF Team. Thank you.
V. J.
Wonderful place. worth to visit in Coventry.
t. p.
Went for a day out with friends and family. Interesting historic and current forms of transport. The land speed record holding cars had a good display. Great cafe too
S. S.
Great visit, lovely to see so much local motoring history in one place. Seating in a number of the halls if you need a little rest, toilets were clean and the cafe was lovely
N. G.
Went out of my way ona visit to seek this place out as I am a classic car enthusiast. I knew it was a transport museum not a classic car one but prepared to give it a go. However discovered at 15.50 was a bit pricey in my book as would have been x 2 as well with my wife being the other entrant especially as my son had stated it was free entry. Apparently only free to Coventry C/Tax payers but we all pay it no matter where we live , or should do so satisfied myself with a trip to the Cathedrals and city centre medieval buildings instead in these challenging times I'm afraid. Hard to evaluate what I might be missing as no literature about interest foyer area as to what there was to see in the museum .
R. B.
Brilliant day out with family plenty of things to do and see. Also the world's fastest car is here. And if you buy a ticket you can come back anytime in the next year.
C. G. H.
Absolutely brilliant, cars & bikes from as early as the mid 1800's, and concept cars too. They also have 'Thrust' & 'Thrust2' the two fastest land vehicles on earth.
D. P.
Absolutely amazing day spent here... expected to whizz around and was there for hours ... you name it.... it's there.... Inc all 3 land speed record cars, thrust 2, SSC and bloodhound !
B. G.
A very good museum and great overview of British motoring heritage and the development of transport in the UK. Very enjoyable and the highlight of the landspeed record exibit well worth a visit.
R. R.
Wonderful and very informative place to go. Very interesting.
Has a wonderful cafe attached. Very quiet and peaceful and delicious coffee
J.
Must visit place if you come to Coventry beautiful history of the city just makes me sad when I see that Coventry used make all the cars back in the day now that's all gone. Prices are steep if you don't live in Coventry!
D. S.
A spacious well presented display of road transport with a large collection of locally built cars and bikes. It's size is not overwhelming and it is my favourite museum featuring cars. Some vehicles are unrestored which is refreshing.
N. D.
Lovely stay and play experience. The museum itself is a treat. Make sure to check out the electric car invented in the 80s.
D. L.
We had a great 3hours of awe.memories of childhood vehicles n so much more.everything so amazing.old cars so beautiful prototype cars before we were born.motorbikes n bicycles that being brave wouldn't cover, tools that were used from bygone days..the styling the curves the quality.clean n well laid out.good information.very polite n helpful staff.easy access.the entrance fee is valid till next year.lovely giftshop+little cafeteria.clean toilets.i will be taking grand kids soon.parking near is awkward so look up before you go.you won't be disappointed.OOH N QUEEN MARY'S CAR IS SO BEAUTIFUL.SOME STAFF TOOK TIME TO TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT IT .THEY WERE SO PROUD TO HAVE IT THERE.THEY MADE MY DAY ACTUALLY FOR GIVING ME THOSE FEW MIMENTS OF GENUINE LOVE OF THEIR JOBS .IM SO PROUD OF THEM FOR THAT .A CREDIT TO THIS COLLECTION.💖 DIANA LEWIS 💖
P. “. P.
The transport museum is a very nice attraction for children and adults. Unfortunately, at the entrance, we were surprised by an unpleasant surprise. Entrance to the museum was free and now you have to pay £ 35 for a 2 + 2 family ticket. Price a little too high because a lot of attractions that should work did not work. Entry to the simulator is also payable for 3 people £ 12. If you pay for a museum ticket, the simulator should be for free.
T. W.
The place is huge.
So much to see and do. Definitely worth a visit.
Great little coffee shop there too.
C. B.
Great atmosphere. Everything for the family young and old. It is worth a visit. Summer activities to book on line.
R. H.
Have visited before over the years and even been invited to a ww2 event with an old ex RAF spitfire Pilot pal a few years ago I always enjoy a visit to see whats new, I live in Stoke but have family history connections to Coventry and Maudsley motors but on this visit with my father we met Dan (or could have been Don) anyhow a real credit to the team there he made our trip even more interesting. After we visited the attached cafe for a late lunch and your young man there was also a credit sorry didn't get his name, Just fyi we had visited in Feb half term and this was a return as so much to take in and tickets are valid for 12 months so we came back this year and the city also benifited as my wife hit the shops while we enjoyed your collection. Kind regards Rob
M. F.
Some great vehicles well displayed
G. P.
Brilliant museum interesting journey through the history of the motor industry in the area. Obviously the speed record cars are the highlights.
N. B.
A great place to visit. Thousands of examples of bicycles, motor cars and equipment. Very informative and entertaining.
The museum captures the life of the carworkers, the varying political situations and, of course, the cars themselves.
Entry is free, with the option to buy a guidebook; priced at £5.00.
Feel free to make a donation, of course.
R. M.
Well I was really surprised at the quantity of bicycles, motorcycles and cars in this museum. Very well laid out and excellent displays, some really nice old vehicles and a lot in immaculate condition. Free to get in and car parks not on site but not to far away. Nice little cafeteria in the main entrance. Highly recommended for a family day out.
M. E.
Great day with my misses! We enjoyed going back in time even tho we are young we have seen how generations in the past had to move from A to B and their carriages. Strongly recommend!
B. W.
Fantastic place for petrol heads and families to spend the afternoon. IMHO one of the best museums of the history of British motoring in the UK (and I have visited plenty of them). A bit of advice, do not use the Bishop Street car park it only holds about 40 cars, I used the West Orchards car park loads of room and really near. Also although I enjoyed the experience of the Thrust SSC simulation it is a tad expensive for what you get.
S. L.
Great exhibits. Loved seeing the landspeed cars. Simulator was a rip off and entry is costly for a family unless you can keep coming back and then you can revisit as many times as you want in a year. Sadly I live 250 miles away so that dosent help me. Overall really good.
M. R.
We enjoyed the experience, took us about 2 and half hours to go through the two, mum dad and 5 year old. Especially enjoyed the picket line
s. d.
Must visit if you are Cycle, Motor Cycle and Car lover. It's a history and evolution of transportation which is very well preserved and portrait. Collection Brand Jaguar. Even they have Thrust 2 (world land speed record holder). It's better to experience that right. Must visit.
K. S.
This is a great place! It's huge, chock fill of awesome bikes and cars and taxis and speed record machines. Admission is free and it takes a few hours to get through the whole thing so wear comfortable shoes
R. L. R.
by far the best I have seen..... EVER! So much I never knew and I know quite a bit. perfectly laid out and informative..... unbelievably great. Going again soon. £14 to get in but ticket lasts 12 months and even if it's a one use ticket its worth EVERY penny
m. s.
Great More access to the vehicles would be nice. Artwork on walls impressive, grammar questionable. More benches and sanitising stations.
C.
A great experience for the whole family. The new layout is fantastic with multiple points during the tour to take a breather in a pleasant uncrowded atmosphere. Plenary to do for the kids too. Simply worth it! The ticket is valid for a year so one can go at leisure for very little money. Facilities are super clean, the shop and cafe are very unique and full of related memorabilia. Finally several parking are scattered all around so travelling should not be a problem. Worth a visit!
G. P.
Came here for my Daughter's Santa visit and it was brilliant it's well worth your time. A great family day out
M. B.
Amazing place. Spent the day here whilst the good lady was at a conference and believe me, i had the better day. Very well laid out and informative, trip down memory lane with the exhibits. Land speed record hall with Thrust 2 and Thrust SSC - along with the other cars was fantastic. Ammeinities were very clean. Restaurant was reasonable but best part was the free admission.
C. S.
Great range of vehicles with a connection to Coventry.
S. G.
A wonderful glimpse into the past (and some future) with some stunning examples of engineering.
Very child friendly, the 4D Thrust experience perhaps not ideal for children who are nervous with loud sounds and a dark environment.
Nice little cafe at the entrance, very decent prices. The gift shop had some lovely items on offer.
Well worth the train ride and roughly 15 minute walk from the station.
M. R.
Fantastic collection, has something from early motoring to modern day. I really enjoyed the Jaguar exhibition. The classic cars were good too. It was bigger than I expected it to be. If you like old bicycles and motorbikes you'll like the collection they have.
I. T.
Really nice Musium. Free entry. Very nostalgic for the older people and good fun for youngsters. been here a few times with lots of interactive stations amazing vehicles of the past to see great history. Good facilities throughout. my only complaint would be getting to the museum itself driving through Coventry can be very very difficult. Be prepared to get lost and be prepared for a difficult drive. Will definitely be going again soon so long as I don't get last. .
C. O.
The most effective and efficient collection of road transport vehicles (bicycles, tricycles, and cars), also most intriguing is their pristine state. The environment is themed to give visitors the feel of the period the vehicles were used. The projected clips with motion sensors make them play only when someone walks past, thus making a self paced tour feel like a guided one. There are arrows showing directions also. There is a cafe and a gift shop on the ground floor. The ticket currently last a year so people can visit multi times, always a wonderful experience.
T. G.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. The museum is well laid out with clear information boards explaining the progression of different types of transport (bicycles, motorcycles and cars) over time. The 1930's Art Deco section was a real highlight with some beautiful looking car designs. The Coventry blitz interactive section was also really powerful. Going through the model car display, Jaguar Heritage section and Land Speed Record sections (Thrust 2) my son suggested that this place goes on forever. In a good way - it's an extremely comprehensive museum and I foresee we will use our "visit as many times as you like during a year" ticket often. Cheers.

Really interested museum. An excellent journey through time. From the very first bicycle to the latest vehicles. Very well structured. It costs around 15 pounds for an adult year pass. They also have temporary exhibitions.
n. s.
A very interesting and interactive museum in the heart of Coventry. From the first bicycles and cars until the latest models ( strongly recommend to see the Jaguar exhibition ), the museum summarize the history of Coventry's car industry. The entrance is free, but with £5 ( maybe less ) someone can visit the speed simulator. Finally there is an interactive exhibition about the Coventry blitz.
m. c.
Well worth a visit. Parking close by. Friendly helpful staff. On site cafe a little on the pricey side.
k. m.
An amazing and free museum dedicated to all forms of wheeled transport.
The walk through the museum takes you on a journey, from the first bicycles or hobby horses, through the first motorcycles and cars, along to the wartime, 60s and up to modern day with the Thrust SSC on display.
A cool simulator ride allows you to experience some if what it was like to break the land speed record and the sound barrier in the SSC. Although this costs £5 for adults and £3.50 for concessions, all the money goes into the running and maintenance of the museum. So
A fair price. A good gift shop to buy mementos in and a great cafe to stop and have a light lunch in at the end.
M. B.
Excellent experience as usual but always finding something different each time we visit. Great for families, couples, anybody with an interest in technology, vehicles or history in general seeing how vehicles have changed over the years. Ticket gets you repeated entry (1 year), so even though the museum did used to be free it is worthwhile paying to be able to visit more than once and know that you're contributing to the upkeep of a really worthwhile museum.
T. V.
What a great way to spend a couple of hours! Great displays, all very clean and well balanced! The right amount of information for each exhibit for it not to make it boring! A mix of everything! Where else can you see the world's fastest car and a Peugeot 405?
R. M.
A must visit museum. If your into old cars and motorcycles and bicycles this is a must. Collection is one of the best in the uk
J. E.
Great place that again I could literally spend a whole day wandering around, even though I've been before. Junior is probably a little too young at the moment though (4) as he just got frustrated that he couldn't just play with all those fantastic vehicles...
A. C.
We had a great few hours at the transport museum. We wasn't overly sure what to expect, especially as there was no charge for admission.
There are about 14 galleries in total going through coventrys rich history of involvement in transport. There is a strong focus on bikes at the begining moving through to cars and the future and the land speed record.
Therd are a few hands on things for the small people to do which helps keep their interest. It would be fair to say that if the small person was not with us I could have easily been there a couple of extra hours..!
There is also a 4d experience of the land speed record record towards the end. £5 for adults and £3.50 for children. It was OK but not a 'must do' whilst there in my opinion.
A thoroughly enjoyable experience.
D. N. D. J.
Even though the Thrust SSC (land speed record holder) , Thrust 2 SSC, and the Bloodhound SSC are the main attractions of the museum, there is also a great collection of cars, cycles and motorbikes on display. The museum is organized in chronological order with immersive content.
A must visit if in Coventry.
S.
Worth a visit but not as comprehensive collection as led to believe.
A. S.
Great place to visit, shows the history of mass transport, which started and developed in Coventry in 19th century. You will be able to see how bicycles and cars developed over the years, you will be able to see the rise and fall of brands and Coventry based manufacturing too. You can admire royal cars as well as the grandest designs of all times. Supersonic speed? It is all there. I went four times so far and it is never boring.
T. O.
I took my four year old daughter to a kids workshop building go-karts. It was a great couple of hours, she got loads out of it and didn't want to leave. Price included entry to the Missouri as well and she really enjoyed seeing the jet and rockets cars too!
M. H.
A world class experience with beautifully presented exhibits which flow wonderfully through time. Thrust SSC as well as Thrust 2 are two particularly spectacular and unique cars which you can examine close up. If you love wheels, you'll love this museum!
A. D.
The museum displayed automobiles from the inception of use, way into the future.
It had a clear representation and proper explanatory pathways for its visitors.
With everything descriptive and properly outlined, it is definitely a place to come to anytime you visit. COVENTRY!!!
B. H.
Visited yesterday, took a reviewers advice of parking in Bishop Street carpark. Short walk to museum which is brilliant, followed the signs through the years. Our 14 year old grandson loved it. Lovely cars, bikes & motorbikes. Only a short walk to Coventry cathedral which we all loved. A fab whole day out which didn't cost the earth, internet down at museum so cut price cash entry. Highly recommend. Lots of eateries nearby too, we bough a sandwich in Sainsburys & ate in a nice area next to The Britania Hotel at the bottom of the steps to the cathedral 10/10 5⭐
R.
Very nice museum.. having very a very good collection of historical transport modes ..cycle..bike cars ...and also the moderns upcoming new tech cars.
M. N.
Interesting place to visit if you love cars and motorbikes.
C. H. J.
A worthwhile place to visit for those who are very into vehicles and history (in general).
M. C.
Excellent, vast building and vast array of vehicles through time. Book in advance you get a small discount. No need to though. Great experience.
Cafe excellent as well, good cup coffee, and choice of sandwiches etc..
S. K.
Wonderful. Really worth seeing it. Learned so much about bicycles motorcycles and cars. All beautifully presented.
A. J.
Great museum to see the real vechicles for the last few hundreds of years. Come and visit this place. Great to spend a few hours. Kids and car lovers will love it. Some cars are one offs and the very original bollids that are the ones used to exceed spead of sound can be seen there. Highly reccomend it. I personally visit this museam 2-3 times a year. I just take my friends visiting me here every single time and everyone is happy. Just try it and you will see how good this museaum actually is. You can see cars, tanks, bikes, bysicles and much more then that:)
G. L.
Good museum but alot of the interactive visits were not working or had bits missing. The exhibits were good especially the jaguar section. But it was a shame to see the land speed record cars just in a corner. The admission price is a little high compared with other museums.
B. s.
Classic car lovers, and all people.this is a must . It will take at least 3+ hrs
to go round.
R. M.
This is a brilliant museum!!! The staff are very friendly, there is plenty of accessibility. There are plenty of cars and other modes. Would definitely recommend.
J. A.
WOW. Been before but the refurbishment is great, I have been to paid attractions not as good as this. Top quality, top professional staff, clean and lots to see, both my 6yr and I enjoyed it hugely.
I cannot imagine anyone being disappointed with this FREE attraction.
Also I suggest you save some time to stroll around the area, the cathedral, the fountains and the FREE art gallery.
J. R.
Very interesting museum, really enjoy looking at the cars etc that was there. Would definitely go again in the future.
m. p.
Wonderful museum, deserves more than a visit (the ticket is annual, 14 pounds or 10 if studente). Best place in coventry city centre, mainly known for being home of the thrust 2 and ssc
D. W.
As a disabled visitor, I found it really helpful that with my blue badge I could book a space inside the Museums own staff carpark and a member of staff would escort us into the museum itself. All the staff were really good to us, and the followed route was well signed (as long as you can count 😘). There were plenty of places for my wife to stop and have a sit down, as there is a long journey around the museum. There are lots of interactive sections that either tell a story from the perspective of someone living or working in those periods which were really interesting. A lot of vehicles, were ones that either I had never heard of, or never actually seen one in my 67 year life. We had lunch in the cafeteria, and although not cheap, the food and coffee was of excellent quality and taste. Finally, the official guide book, I looked at and expected it to be between £8 and £15 as it is such a thick high quality book, turned out to be only £2 😲 What a bargain. All the staff were helpful, friendly, and very approachable, and would come over quickly, if they thought you might have a query for them.
Thank you to all the staff who were on duty on Saturday 26th March. You gave us an excellent visitor experience. You are one and all, a credit to the Coventry Transport Museum.
D. M.
This is a great museum and unbelievable that it is free entry.
It is steeped in Coventry's industrial history, housing an array of local vehicles, including some very cool cars.
The land speed record holding car is still kept here, Thrust 2, that alone is something to be seen.
The cars here are particularly awesome- so many and in such great condition. I learnt so much that I didn't know about Coventry and the rest of the car world.
It was a perfect family day out.
D. S.
I was impressed with the wide range of vehicals. From the earliest up to the latest predominantly bicycles, motorcycles, and motorcars. Also includes wartime vehicles lorrys and people carrying busses etc. The condition of most was first class. There were also some concept cars. Staff were very pleasent and helpfull.
r. e.
Great day out in Coventry and was brilliant to go see the transport museum for my second ever time. After coming this time after so long frkm the first time I went it was obvious that the simulater had, had a massive upgrade. I never went on the simulater this time round tho but will be back in the future to definitely try it out. The museum itself is brilliant with the wide range of vehicles and tyoes of transport. It also explains the history of the cars and bikes ect... very well. The information and technology of everything is amazing, the depth of what you can read into is something else. If you love museums like me this is a must visit. Brilliant place, entry free, detailed information and a simulater to top it off... AMAZING!
R. G.
A great museum for transport enthusiasts of all ages. Visited many times over the last 30 years, this was the first time I have paid an admission charge. Fairly good value nonetheless.
A. K.
It's good place to get motivated especially for aspiring automotive design students. I felt pride after been through the legacy and heritage of the British Auto Manufacturers.
M. F.
Lovely place. Very relaxing, mot at all cramped. Good variety of exhibits. Amazing value guide (only £1)
Highly recommended.
U. M.
No entry fee, cafe inside and large number stock of cars, motorbikes and bicycles as well history of taxis. Too much informative and i highly recommend people to visit.
On street parking available not too much expensive
Y. M.
A wonderful museum of transport with a particular focus on car building in and around the Coventry area through the ages. With free entry and a cafe/coffee house attached, this is a great venue to while away a couple of hours. It's situated right in the centre of Coventry and the shops so, if one of you likes shopping and one doesn't then here's another option.
C. C.
Well worth the visit. Ticket from entry fee covers multiple visits over a year.
M. K.
A massive historical journey through Coventrys automotive history. Great family time. Takes roughly hour and a half to walk it.
T. H.
The experience with Coventry Transport Museum was great, great variety of vehicles and some interactive games you can find here. Definitily recommend visiting the museum. The entrace is free.
D. T.
I've visited Coventry Transport Museum dozens of times, initially as an event organiser, and then every time I needed my petrol head fix.
The exhibits are so varied, rich, and authentic that there is always something new to notice.
What makes Coventry Transport Museum so significant is how Coventry was literally the birthplace of bicycles, and thus motorcycles, cars and everything automotive that followed.
E. D.
Beautiful and a historic place ❤💕😍, with so much to learn about the founders and people of Coventry.
D. S.
Coventry has a rich history of car production which I wasn't even aware of. My partner who used to visit this museum regularly as a boy, says it has been structured much better now. But to see so much history and those beautiful cars alone, it's kinda breathtaking!
D. P.
Was OK. Was slightly disappointed that you now have to pay to enter as have been numerous times over the years and was always free. Also disappointed with the number of interactive things that didn't work while walking around. You would have thought that now they charge an entrance fee every thing would work.
S. D.
It is located at the Coventry city centre. This motor museum has excellent collections of vintage cars, trucks, fire engines, bicycles and taxis and much more...
Couldn't believe it has free entry when we visited it. Since it is located at the city centre, it's a worth a visit when one walks around city centre.
C. J.
So interesting that one city can have such a fantastic transport industry history a bit pricey but you can return as many times as you like within the year well worth a visit
J. L.
An interesting museum.with great displays but some issues with trying to route visitors instead of allowing them to casually 'browse' as their interests take them.
Once free. Now charging an entrance fee.
A. V.
I ve been to many museum but this one stands out. It has the best collection of cars and lots of interactive stuff to do. It caters the needs of all age ranges.
I. A.
Being from Glasgow thought I would see how this place fairs against our transport museum. First of all it is free like ours.
It was based around Coventry being the automobile capital of UK and it rise and fall with every car that was made here.
The best exhibit was the record breaking cars for speed.
If in Coventry defiantly make time to visit here....well worth the visit!
D. R.
Fabulous & Free.. But do leave a donation in the box.. Lots of transport to see, but mostly Coventry built.. Took me 5 hours being a petrol head.. Its well laid out with a somewhere to eat your packup halfway round, buy a snack or bottle of drink from vending machine.... Big👍from me !!
R. C.
Very enjoyable transport museum obviously dedicated to the West Midlands motor industry. Not a FORD insight lol.
Great few hours spent in there. Plus the ticket allows unlimited entry for a year. A bonus
G. B.
A really excellent museum of transport through time with some unique exhibits and one bang up to date seeking sponsorship for the land speed record. Not to be missed.
L.
Amazing old cars and bikes, a good learning experience, or just somewhere to go to look at cool cars.
B. B.
Great museum that was free to enter, with donations. The map showing Coventry with the location of where different car and motorcycle manufacturers has been was amazing - they should make that a poster to buy or at least a postcard! I loved the range of 70s and 80s cars as that is when I grew up. There was a kids trail to find various things in each section, which kept our 7 year old daughter occupied. Had to go round a bit quicker as we had to be somewhere for lunch but still it took us 2.5 hours.
M. W.
Really good visit it nice and airy lots of room around exhibits. The history it good from push bikes to cars made in Coventry
S. H. B. G.
More than a transport museum, this is a bitter sweet love letter to the great city of Coventry, a place of Industrial giants and highly skilled workers betrayed by short termism and political and managerial ineptitude.
J. p.
Bike and car lover's must come and visit. But ticket is little bit expensive. In the tickets will be valid from one year. Free from school children.
G. T.
Very well organised showing lots of the local automobile industry, motorbikes and research, including formula 1 and land speed record vehicles. Army and utilitarian vehicles also making an appearance, as well as Jaguar, the prestigious local car maker.
C. N.
Perfect day out for kids - free for residents with the Go CV scheme. Lots of fun with the activities eg. junk modelling.
A. F.
Great to see vehicles from all eras and well set out displays was quiet visitor numbers when I went so had plenty of space to move around
1. S.
Was very interesting and so many cars, I stayed over 2 hours to look around and read. So many cars and bikes placed. Worth to go and was free enterence.
Only this place to worth to go in this city
A.
Eye opener to Covenry's past in bike and car production. Current ticket price is fair for what you'll see and pass is for whole year.
K. H.
Great museum been twice before always impressed but they have removed one thing I wanted to see again ...the wall that was printed with all the motor manufacturers in Britain since the early 1900's several hundred of them ..where did it all go wrong?.
V. G.
We spent 4 hours here. One of the best museums I've been to
V. H.
Beautiful and interesting exhibitions, a couple of interactive ones as well. Amazing place to visit and learn about Coventry's history. And on top of that, its free.
F. K.
Unbelievable and historic; tracks Coventry's Transportation industry from its Singer bicycles, thru the glory days of Jaguar, to the Jet cars of today.
Wonderfully laid out and VERY complete; Plan 4 hours to see it all
E. T. (. S. F. H.
What a great place to visit especially with kids. There are lot to see and love the display. Well organized and clean place. Would highly recommend especially it is free!
S. P.
This place is great and FREE! I took my 5 year old girl and 2 year old boy. The girl was whinging before hand "I don't want to look at boring cars". To be fair I had my reservations being free to enter, expecting something not very well maintained with poor displays but thought I've lost nothing if it's free and it's still time with the family. However, I was really impressed with the size of the building, the amount of cars on display and the quality of the displays with lots of them interactive. I live near to Coventry and did not realise how integral it was to the automotive industry. Also some awesome land speed record cars there! They are a sight to be hold themselves. The place is fantastic for free, we got about 3 hours (including lunch) out of it. As for my daughter... She wanted to go back in!
D. R.
A great museum for all the family. We have visited many times and each time manage to discover something not seen before. Temporary displays are always great and regular events always worth attending. Lots to see and do for all ages.
K. K.
Huge collection of British road transport, much of which was designed, built and loved by the people of Coventry. You will learn the stories behind the people who made Coventry the centre of the world’s motor and cycle industries. Get up close to vehicles that defined some of history’s most important moments. Reserve 2h for yourself or family to go back in time and discover old days.
P. Y.
I went there as part of a business event rather than to see the museum.
It was great.
Good sized room and facilities. Breakfast and lunch brilliant... love the pastries.
We will book again.
P. M.
Good place for children and an excellent coffee shop. We have been many times with our grandchildren, there’s always something new so we don’t get bored with going. All the children have a wonderful time when ever we go. A voluntary contribution is asked for so the cost is what you can afford. very fair.
V. R.
Very interesting place to visit for adults and children it's like a history lesson of cars but not boring will go again
J. J.
Coventry Tranport Museum captures the British Transport Industry from during the Industrial Revolution.
Various modes of transport vehicles are on show and displayed reminding us the role of British legacy to the global transport industry.
As a motorcyle fan, this visit reminds the days, Norton, Truimph, Royal Enfield motorcycles I very much admired in my chikdhood days.
M. R.
Absolutely brilliant museum. A must see if you are traveling to Coventry.
This museum is massive and entrance is completely free. You need at least couple of hours to see everything properly. When I was there during late afternoon it wasn’t busy at all. Highly recommend
D.
Not the biggest or the best, but a lovely place to visit when on a trip to Coventry. Entry is free, and a guide book is £5 (at time of writing), highly recommended.
A. L.
Great museum with all kinds of cars and detail histories. Though it is not free, still good to visit!
V. T.
Definitely worth visiting. At least when I was there it was free of charge. Absolutely amazing place, with plenty of cars, motorcycles, and information, helping everyone understand the history of automotive. Obe of these "must visit" places.
I. S.
Nice place to know about the history of cycle, bike and cars. Museum has a very good collection of cycle, bikes and cars of various manufacturers. Also displayed is the thrust SSC, the fastest car on earth as of 2018. Get the feel of thrust SSC at the simulator for 5£ or less.
A.
Well worth £14 especially if you love Jaguars and other British cars and bikes
s. D.
For a free visit it's fantastic. Both my boys loved it and it's very close to the bus station as well. There has been some regeneration work done and there are loads of exhibits that children can play with as well. It's really close to the art gallery along with plenty of shops so all in all a good day out. The only reason it has 4 stars is the parking as it can get a bit tight but there are alternatives locally.
I. S.
Brilliant place will keep going back we both loved it.👍🏻
J. H.
A very interesting museum.
r. r.
Really awesome experience of the walk exploring the various transformation in the field of transportation. Do not miss the movie where they tell you about the fastest vehicle on land.
P. O.
City centre location. Well laid out. Exhibits based mainly on Coventry's motor car/bicycle production. Small but good land speed record section. Extremely helpful staff. Ticket valid for a year.
S.
A real tale through time. I know about all vehicles now, from bikes to tanks. Lovely experience.
G. B.
Well worth a visit. Wonderful chronological display of vehicles, including bicycles and motor bikes, portraying the development and demise of the automotive industry in the West Midlands and, in particular, Coventry. Wall painting feature scenes and figures dressed to match the cars in each period. There's a whole section devoted to Jaguar; includes some interesting videos. There is also a section on jet cars and one of model cars. Good cafe as well. Photo was taken on Jaguar Super Saturday...
r.
If you want to know something about the history of Coventry, then visit this wonderful museum - the car industry was the beating heart of this city since it's invention. Loved the display, very family friendly.
S. A.
Could do with better disabled access. One lift wasn't working and silly I decided to try and walk instead of my chair so I had mega amounts of extra walking to do which wore me out.
Staff excellent though clearly short staffed. Shop no good as would have needed to go somewhere else to get someone to go back and serve there. Seemed under-stocked too.
Reasonable value at £15 for the year.
No parking remember
D. M.
Great museum everybody have to go there and see....
K. K.
Impressive range of vehicles, bikes & transport.great day out. Recommended
J. S.
Nice museum. For my taste probably too many old bycicles and motorbikes and not enough new cars. But everyone has a different taste ;-)
S. B.
Spent an enjoyable couple of hours here. A very quiet Tuesday morning. Just me and about 3 others at the museum. A school party also but I didn't see them at all apart from at the entrance.
Best thing I can say is that my face ached by the end from the grin I had all the way round. So good to see so much 'stuff'. Fascinating artifacts, all well laid out and just the right amount of information.
I will definitely use the fact that my ticket gives me access for a year!
M. B.
Huge, jam-packed with cars, bikes, and more, and both educational and fun. Fascinating history, displays and props, and well thought out activities. Friendly staff, "picnic" area, we made a real day out of it.
A. F.
Interesting museum. Extensive. Well layed out. 18 month old son loved it. Tiny bit expensive, but good value when the pass is valid for a year. Nice interactive things as well.
P. M.
Really impressive range of displays with lots of information about the boom and bust of the car industry, in particular. Lots of examples of long-gone car brands
A. H.
Beautifully laid out, thoughtful to enthusiasts and general public alike
D. H.
A truely Bostin place to visit, either family or friends! You will spend a good few hours, it's amazing place, well worth a visit.
c. c.
I came here and omg I was blown away it was amazing and classic cars and pass stuff there was great. I would recommend 100% to go you won’t be disappointed. I loved every sec off it.
N. J. (.
We only planned a quick visit, thinking that it wasn't a large place, we were only doing an over night stop in Coventry and thought we could tick this off our list. We were so wrong.
This place is huge, impressively huge. It is so well stocked with beautiful bicycles, cars and other fantastic vehicles, that we are now planning a trip back to Coventry so we can spend more than an hour having a quick walk through the place.
I'd really recommend you pay a visit. We saw it all in an hour, but really you want at least 2. And when it's free, take all the time you need.
There was picnic areas in the museum, these consist of cafeteria tables and chairs, which I think is a fantastic idea if you are coming with kids and want to sit them down for a drink and a snack.
A. D.
I went in to get my go Cv card. So I can get in this museum for free. The ladies on reception were very helpful. Mum and dad sat down to have coffee between them.
J. J.
Great place to go we went for the slot car fair and went round the museum after especially liked seeing the land speed record vehicles
I. N.
We love it. The only one think is not much activities for the kids to do.
R. B.
Very informative. Free entry to the museum. Donation is voluntary. Good day out with the whole family.
d. p.
Great day out, plenty of old and new cars to see would highly recommend.
A. D.
A great day out for the whole family with a wide range of eras from the rise of the bike to the breaking of the land speed record
Great for visits with larger groups or just small groups
K. P.
Loved this museum, very clean and well address information. Amazing displays & history! Had a great exhibition on as well when we went. See pics*
C. M.
Interesting collection of cars and bicycles and other transport machines, largely of British manufacture, plus 2 Land Speed record holders. About 15 minutes walk from the train station, through the city centre. There's also a reasonably priced cafe. Made for good day out from the Reading area
h. k.
What a great way of knowing Coventry's history, evolution through the 18th to 20th century, from cycles to super sonic cars.. amazing..
M. S.
Found this a very interesting museum with plenty of exhibits .Brought back memories of cars as I grew seeing even some I've owned in my driving years
R. R.
It was nice place to spend a long period of time.. Too many cars in the collection which makes it so enjoyable. Could find more antic cars and come to know many fact about em.. Only thing is could found only countable number of companies, wish there was more🙂
D. M.
A very enjoyable and fascinating experience, followed by a visit to the nice café.
W. J.
Great day out for the car and bike enthusiast. Plenty of exhibits from the beginnings of the automobile to the present day . It also has the 2 fastest cars in the world Thrust SSC and Thrust 2. And as the museum does not charge for entry , it's all free. Highly recommended for a visit.
T. B.
It's was very interesting. My children did get bored, as nothing interactive for them to do. Mainly adults were there.
A. S.
Big museum. Lots of British car history and not only. They even have a land speed record simulator. The parking can be an issue but there are plenty of pay and display around. Worth a visit. And the entrance is free as well.
C. “. T.
Wonderful showcase of bicycle history (loved seeing all the old bikes laid out throughout the sequence of development) and the history of Coventry as well as the automobile in general (my only qualm was that there were no planes, basically all cars, in a museum for transport ;) )
A. C.
Great display of 130 years of heritage vehicles from the very first cars , -preceded by cycles. History of the city and motor industry too. Good displays and visual aids. Very quiet in winter midweek after any school trips may have left.
J. S.
Very enjoyable morning out and given there is no entrance charge it is amazing value. A wonderful reminder of the incredible part the city has had to play in the history of the automotive industry. Truly deserving of 5 stars.
I. B. J.
Amazing and the entry is free only if you want to donate is worth to visit!
s. w.
FREE Admission. Fantastic journey through automotive history. What a great museum. Well worth a visit.
B. #.
Men, men, men, men, men. No visible traces of women's contribution to Coventry's car industry, nor Coventry's vibrant racial mix. Must do better next time the exhibition is updated for 21st century visitors 🙄
E. S.
Great museum, lots of cars to see, admission prices are pretty fait as well.
H. A.
Very interesting place. Better than British motor museum . Well structured.
Time well spent
E. H.
Great Museum. So many cars, bikes and vehicles! They even have the thrust SSC!
L. U.
If you like cars, add this museum to your list.
I spent one hour and a half taking a photo of every car and could have taken more if you like reading and interact with all the activities in there, like the WWII simulation. There are plenty of bicycles too.
It was on a Sunday, it was open and there weren't many people arround so taking photos was a pleasure. Only downside is the lighting, not the best one and photo may result dark, but that is the only negative I can think of.
Cars spread from the very early years of automotive industry to the modern time, with a Jaguar section on its own. You will have early 1900's, the 10's, 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's!
On top of that there is a section with services vehicles, police and Co., vans, busses, military ones etc.
One area is dedicated to old car toys, quite big, you just need time and patience to check all of them.
There is a bar inside too which come handy for a break.
Free admission until June 2019, then fees will apply, but think it is still worth it and will help the Museum to run.
D. N.
Loads of Convetry's old history. This midlands city was leading thd world automotive industry until the early 80's when Britain lost its way.
S. P.
Lots to see. Very interesting. Need at least 2 hours to see everything.
G. G.
Amazing place for all the family and car lovers! Would definitely recommend
A. M.
A really cool, informative transport museum in the middle of Coventry. It wouldn’t be my usual choice of museum but I had a great time! The ticket is valid for a year as well which is great as you can definitely spend hours there! Truly a great place for all the family
s. w.
Great day out for all of the family. Lots of interesting facts and loads of original items on display. All the way from the humble beginnings of transport, right through to the amazing up to date super fast vehicles are displayed in a way that is both compelling and interesting. Plus the tickets last for a year, so if like us the time was just not enough to properly see everything. You can visit several times! Highly recommended for either a single or multiple visits.
R. S.
This is a fantastic place to visit if you're in the area. It's free and I found the staff to be very pleasant. I personally wouldn't make a special journey of more than an hour to visit but I was in the area and glad I visited. I guess parking can be a pain because of its central location but get there earlier enough and you should be fine. They also have a simulation of the land speed record been broken, it's not amazing but if you can get it for the discounted price then it's worth a watch. Coventry it self doesn't really have much to offer.
T. C.
The Coventry Transport Museum (CTM) brought me back to the history of Coventry where the automobile industry was the heart of the city until WWII.
The rebuilding of the city after WWII was a massive job and I think it was neglected by the federal government.
The decline of the automobile industry was a sad part for Coventry; I assume from World No 1 to ?? today!
M. E.
Brilliantly laid out and a large number of displays. Good for kids.
P. k. o.
Our COVENTRY museum is so so beautiful no comparison ❤❤❤❤❤
I. L.
Defo worth it if you have a cv card.
Took my time actually taking in the history great educational place.
Loads of interactive stimuli for kids
Loved visiting as a child
Still love visiting as an adult
:)
H. A.
One of the best and unique kind of museum. Worth to visit. Very informative and entertaining place.👌
D. N.
So many information about the history
p. s.
Great museam lots to see and do been a few times and is always nice with friendly staff.
K. M.
This was my first visit back since 2015! And I must say, I was much more impressed this time around! Everything seemed very clean and majorly updated! More open, well lit, easier to engage with the exhibits, and I left feeling like my time was well spent and I learned alot.
So I'm very satisfied with the improvements.
From an ♿ Accessibility point of view, everything flowed nicely. There were lifts and ramps where appropriate. If you're unsure, there are docents scattered around the museum who can direct you.
They accept the Go CV card, which means for Coventry residents who have already signed up on the website, it's totally free entry! No reason not to visit! Especially when friends and family come to town.
There's a little gift shop area at the very end, and a cafe in the very beginning, which you can access regardless if you're entering the museum or not.
I look forward to visiting again. The displays were really nice and informative, and I think going again will yield more areas and facts I didn't see the first time around.
Excellent tourist location in Coventry! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
N.
It's been nicely modonised, but not really big enough .
J. T.
Decent museum. The layout is not entirely clear....it's reasonably well kept. Although there's endless refurbishment evident.
A. 0.
Lovely collection of bikes and cars. We saw amongst them the iconic Jaguar E-type. Good place for all the family to visit.
D. H.
It's very good.. slightly disappointed at the lack of PSVs. I am veering towards running days to be honest. I'm not sure if the museum do these or not but there is a good selection of static exhibits with connections to Coventry.
l. s.
Very interesting yet long! Make sure your legs aren't too tired... Interesting story particularly the land-speed record (pics attached)
D. F.
Reflects the history of the city well and the time line way the cars etc are set out is good. Some of the audio might upset those with special needs but parts like the blitz section can be avoided. Ticket lasts for a year. Special exhibition about women in motor sports is on at the minute.
S. L.
It was an awsome place... very informative.. and lot of areas for kids to enjoy
R. B.
The museum is amazing! We haven't seen so many old cars anywhere else! Our son really liked it and the biggest surprise was of course Santa's sleigh!
K. W.
It was an amazing treat to a completely unplanned day. We will return with the children.
Z. L.
Although the ticket fee is a bit expensive, it is still worth visiting. The exhibition and interactive games are quite fun.
S. B.
Visited here during the pandemic on a Saturday. Did not see many other visitors around, although there where many staff about. I could take my time & relax & view the displays as much as I liked to without getting in anyone one's way or visa versa. Plenty of hand sanitizer around & we had to wear face masks. The museum had aircon on a very hot day which was great. Overall it was a good day.
i. m.
Free museum in Coventry. Fantastic selection of cars and bicycles many of which must be unique to Coventry.
A. M.
Very nice, old bike and old cars, free if you live in a CV postcode
R. A.
Great and full of information if a bit small.
Bit expensive for what it is however you can return for free for a year if you want
p. O.
Lovely place, helpful staff and a great coffee shop
Y. A.
Coventry transport museum is a great place to visit, when you go there you will learn so much about the industry of transport, believe it or not it was the first place to invent cars and bikes. There are many more things that you will learn and see.
Z. M.
Very nice place with visit with family and kids also has a cafe. Alot of history here
P. W.
Terrific museum for a day trip with family. Everything from early bicycles to World speed record cars. A complete journey through transport history in one place!
P. D. L.
Very Very interesting.
Wide variety of well displayed exhibits .
M. C.
It was brilliant. Much improved from the last time we visited several years ago. They've added better accessibility facilities, more vehicles and exhibits. Loved it!!!
J. S.
Great day out, so much to see, so little time, loved the old fords out front.
N. W.
Excellent museum which was well organised and interesting, focusing on mainly on the history of bicycle and car manufacturing in Coventry. The exhibits are well labelled and you can get close to them to see the detail and the skilful way they have been restored. Great for young children right up to dedicated transport enthusiasts. It's quite an extensive collection and will take you a few hours to see it all. Highly recommended.
J. A.
It’s good but not worth £14. Used to be free until 2019 so wish I’d visited sooner. Endless cars and bikes, but only a couple of buses and commercial vehicles so not particularly good on variety. The WW2 area was well done and interesting texts about the history of car manufacturing. Was going to get something at the cafe but was overrun by the blue rise brigade who took an eternity to order.
R. H.
One thing I like about this is that it is suitable for all ages. I took my 21 and 16 year old sons, along with my 10 year old nephew and 8 year old niece. I'd not been for a long time, so there had been a few changes. We spent about an hour in there.
I wasn't impressed with the cost, especially considering it had always been free up until recently. It is still free for Coventry residents with a CV Card. Paying visitors are charged one price which gives 12 months access. If you plan to go regularly, it works out good value. However, it's a little expensive for just one visit. Out family of 5 was about £50 (family is 2+2 then had to pay separately for a 3rd adult - over 16 is adult).
The museum has a recommended route, which goes in a timeline. It show the history of Coventry's motor industry from the beginning to the modern day. The Thrust simulator I'd still there, but wasn't available on our visit. That is charged extra at £5 per adult (I think it was a little less for children).
There is a fair bit to see, and a lot of information about the vehicles and history.
D. C.
600+ vehicles from push bikes to land speed record breakers and everything in between including the "I had one of those" bits for those of a certain age.
S. C.
Brilliant display and lots of historic interest throughout.
S. R. (.
A great place for free and spend couple of hours in the Coventry city centre.
a. r.
Very lovely place, lots of things to look at and interact with. Free entry too!
E. F.
So interesting. Engaging displays and awesome cars, bikes and other forms of transport from throughout history.
J. R. p.
Took my step brother and it great for kids and the family and those who are keen on the automotive industry!! :D got some great photos of the jag and others there too
V. W.
Great place with a large selection of cars, buses and interactive stuff for all ages.
P. S.
Think the Blitz feature could be expanded on, but a thoroughly relaxing and educational walk around. Definitely a must if visiting Coventry.
K. P.
Found this very interesting while waiting for my coach, there is a children's play area and a picnic area to eat lunch you have brought.
S. G.
It's the story of Coventry's transport history. From the start of the bicycles to motorbikes and cars. Loved it. Layout, the stories and feel of the place is fantastic. Also displayed more modern items as well as a WW11 display and toys. Cafe is great but because of Covid not much of a shop. Cars and bikes absolutely beautiful.
A. N.
Great place to visit for anybody of any age. Lots to look at .
a. h.
I sent a message ahead of our visit today to say that we were bringing our nephew who is currently in a wheelchair. We wanted to make sure that we had relevant information about accessibility like lifts etc. Everywhere in the museum is wheelchair and pushchair friendly but the staff went above and beyond to help us during our visit. It made our visit stress free and more enjoyable. There is also a car park not to far away from the museum itself.
P. R. C.
Awesome second visit this year and still fantastic
T. M.
Great place for the kids to learn all about Coventry and its history
G. A.
We were delighted to have a super dinner at top of the museum!
D. S.
an excellent place to look at the history of transport including a large collection of pedal powered bikes, motorbikes and cars. An excellent experience and even had items that I owned as a young child
J.
Great free few hours out however I would have liked to have seen more interactive things for children to do. The simulator ride was expensive for what it was and not very good at all.
T. O.
It is a good place to see the revolution of cars and bicycles manufactured in the UK.
M. W.
Free for locals. Expensive (£14) for a single ticket. Wear a jumper and scarf. It's cold in their. Excellent exhibition but many interactive features out of order and requiring repair.
S. N.
Great collection. Evoked many memories. £14.50 per adult is big steep though. Managed to get the concession rate of £10.50 per person for my group of four, with little negotiation.
Great cafe at the entrance. Shop was limited due to Covid or a refurb. Couldn't tell.
K. C.
Did you no, that Coventry Transport Museum, holds classes for young engineers... that my Grandson whose 2yrs, throughly enjoys the sessions and i would happily recommend the activities. We then get to walk throgh the museum and i tell him all about the old cars.... oh and how nanny wouldn't mind keeping the E type jaguar, even if it is left hand drive.
A. W.
Visited the transport museum twice and loved it both times, something for all ages and the gift shop has some lovely treats!
C. N.
Excellent place to visit, loads to see and good cafe
M. S.
Great array of Coventry and other car heritage.
A. B.
Loved it, could have spent longer in there but went too late in the day, but the ticket is valid for a year so will probably go back later in the year.
s. s.
Excellent museum been a few times now
B. C.
The museum is great, especially the world land speed cars. Allow a minimum of an hour to walk round. Of course there's not much for children to touch.
K. J.
Loved this place, but pricey for what it is but they do have some iconic motorcycles and cars.
R. R.
Interesting walk through the history of bicycles and motorcars.
The not so car enthusiastic people even enjoyed it with several "aha" moments. Well worth a visit!
E. P.
I was just walking around and was amazed when I saw the old cars standing in the parking lot. It was a good experience mainly for me and for people who appreciate old things. Lol
A. W.
I love wandering round the museum deciding on what classic car to own next! The exhibits are excellent, the staff friendly and the history is very well presented. Highly recommend.
M. B.
A great asset for Coventry. A wonderful museum with large range of exhibits, all with details. Fun for children to engage in a tour.
D. G.
Excellent museum with bicycles, m’bikes, cars and assorted vehicular contraptions redolent with history and patina. Swoon at the green triumph stag and gasp at the early Rudges.Well, I did anyway, whilst the missus sallied forth to the art museum across the town!
M. P.
Great day out for free. Great selection of cars and the history is brilliant, great for adults and kids. Well worth a visit
A. P.
Well worth a visit. Can take several hours to look around. Good disabled access with lifts to all floors and an alternative entrance to avoid the rotary doors. Good café for light lunches and snacks.
m. r.
If the history of transport is your thing, then this is a great place to while away a couple of hours. Extensive and well preserved / restored collection of private and public transport vehicles, including steam locomotives. Of particular interest to me was a special section they have for world land speed record cars.
J. W.
A automobile enthusiasts dream place: a wide variety of everything from bicycles, cars, trucks and sea faring transportation! Quite an experience!
J. M.
Really enjoyed it, plenty to see and parking nearby. Plus its great that it's free entry.
R. B.
Great place yo learn about transport and its links to Coventry. Worth a visit if you like your cars old and new.
A. S.
Great place to go if you got a CV card
E. W.
Very interesting and informative. Well laid out with very friendly staff.
Just couldn't eat in the coffee shop as none of the cakes were covered over. Even in non pandemic times at the café were I work, they cover the cakes under domes. To have a beautiful rustic display completely open to everyone queueing to order seemed unwise in the extreme. When I queried it, they just respond that they always displayed the cakes like that. Incredible. So irresponsible.
G. D.
A fantastic day out .great location.plus FREE entry.
M. D.
It was good, though as a transport museum we did expect to see some old trams and buses also old trucks but nothing apart from Coventry city fc winning the cup bus
M. C.
Interesting history of transport. We've been a couple of times and enjoyed both visits.
C. K.
Excellent exhibition, loads to see really interesting
A. H.
An excellent place to visit of you have interest in any of the following .... Cars, buses, history of car production in Coventry or up to the minute info on the latest hi tech methods of replacing fossil fuels as a means of vehicle propulsion.
Entry to ticket is valid for 1 year.
A. N.
is a very nice museum to visit as it have restrooms, conference hall, toilet and many other rooms as well.
A. K.
It was a good experience and a lesson about women's cycling history. Brilliant and well preserved expo with bicycles, cars and a small section of a World War II.
S. C.
If you love British cars, this museum is a must
R. H.
It's a great museum, with bicycles, motorbikes and cars from their origins to the present day. Impressive!
G.
For a free museum.it is excellent. Lots to see inside. Friendly staff and a great coffee shop to visit if you need a drink.
D. T.
It has been about 4 years since my last visit, and can say that this is a first rate museum. The exhibits are brilliant with lots of information and interactive elements. Brilliant at explaining the history of the bicycle, motorcycle and car as well as some of the history of Coventry, in addition to having the three fastest cars in the world on display... Thrust 2, Thrust SSC and Bloodhound.
E. B.
Brillaint afternoon out, really well laid out and very interesting. My nearly 4 year old loved all of it. We are also excited that we can now come back as many times as we like for a year. Highly recommended! 😁
E.
An Excellent source of information about the development of transport, from the last 180 years. Great Exhibit of transport technology.
S. C.
Worth a visit very well set out easy to follow signs so you don't miss anything. Nice to see a couple of old cars from the 80s that we used to own. Buy your ticket and they last for a year.
P. L.
Nice pieces. Free entry. Good place to visit.
C. C.
Really love this place, nice experience here, absolutely amazing.
S. P.
Very nice collection of vintage cars and well Maintained.. Free entry..
C. A.
Hired the museum for a private event. The support received from staff was superb.
m. k.
Great museum. History of motor vehicle development can be seen in this museum
A. A.
You need tickets to enter this if you are not from Coventry or have the card
D. T.
Visited yesterday. Was amazed by the museum. Masses to see. It was a great place to visit. A vast collection of cycles and vehicles some of which is never seen or heard of before. Didn’t visit the cafe so couldn’t comment on that. Easy disabled access with ramps throughout or lifts. Very clean and tidy. Well lit, apart from the blitz recreation so if you have kids scared of the dark just skip that bit. Small picnic area, food and drink isn’t allowed anywhere else on site.
Have to say I really can’t see it being worth the new admission price of £14 an adult. It’s a great place but just not worth the new prices, they’re far too high. No family is going to be able to easily afford it.
J. S.
Fantastic family day out!! Always have a great time and the kids love it. We learn something new with each visit
S. P.
Incredibly detailed and well maintained museum
S. B.
It's a beautiful place , worth visiting.
J. S.
Has to be one of the best museums across the UK. Great for anyone with a genuine interest in transportation and the history of British industries (rise & fall) in the midlands. All the exhibitions are well thought through and logical, with plenty of interactive games to help you appreciate the historical context. Highly recommended. Plus your ticket is valid for a year!
R. M.
Amazing museum with various ages of Bikes and cars. Been around 15 years since I've been previously and I was really impressed with how it's been done up since I last went.
Staff were really friendly and helpful too.
A. C.
An interesting way to spend an afternoon, and it's free. Helpful staff and insightful exhibits.
R. M.
Must see when visiting Coventry. Great collection of all sorts of land vehicles from bicycles to supercars. Free admision.
C. R.
Absolutely love this Museum over the years. We went just before lockdown and not sure if it was down to the current Pandemic but a lot quieter than I ever remember it, such a shame to see this beloved Coventry asset like this.
I do feel that they should maybe do something different to draw more people in again. It is a national treasure.
F. A.
Very historical in the story of World War 1 & 2 and early days of industrialization in The UK
S.
Wonderful museum. First rate displays. Rare automobiles and motorcycles with explanations of their place in Coventry's and the world's history.
O. G.
A lot of cars from beginnings till new age. Great...
J. B.
It does a good job of demonstrating the importance of local industry in the development of transport from push bikes through to recent cars including the land speed record attempts.
There are many examples of bicycles motorbikes and cars from the very earliest through to the 1960s and 70s.
Also good little audiovisual presentations taking you through a time period in the development of of transport.
C. D.
Amazing museum, have seen it 3 times and every time it is different, you learn something new. I am ready for a 4th visit as the tickets you buy are valid for 1 year now.
m. w.
I always pop in to this museum when I am in Coventry. Love looking at the transport and its free!
V. H.
For free 👍🏻nice. Complete, bikes, cars, motorcickles ed

D. R.
Hidden gem, I had no idea the land speed record cars were even there!!
b. B.
Fantastic place and lots of interesting exhibits from boneshakers to e types and beyond a must go place
T. B.
Brilliant museum. Free entry and Lots of interesting vehicles on display from bicycles to tanks. The kids enjoyed it also.
J. M.
Visited 2018. Incredible collection of well displayed vehicles and ephemera, with extremely well thought out lighting and information panels, and helpful staff. A must see is Ted Simon's 'Transworld Trumpet' Triumph Tiger 500 - one of a kind! Something for everyone there though.
E. B.
Good museum with a great display. Looks small but is surprisingly big. I enjoyed the vast history of the displays. The staff were friendly and the cafe was good. It's a good for visiting alone or in a group. The interactive pieces at the start was quite nice. Went with a car buff and they enjoyed, so perhaps fellow car buffs would enjoy it too. I enjoyed the 4D land speed record simulator. It was fun and immersive. Definitely good to visit when in the area though there's an entrance fee. Would recommend.
B. B.
It was a great experience. My boy loved it.
J. C.
First went 7 years ago, this time its was a lot better following their refurbishment. Worth a visit if you're into vehicles.
M. C.
Not the best laid out place but some of the exhibitions are really good and the Coventry Taxi Display was really special.
G. S.
Wonderful quirky colourful and educational.
L. K.
A great place to take the children. They thoroughly enjoyed the special sport and human powered exhibition downstairs. Very friendly staff at the reception and the staff working in the exhibition room have a great rapport with the children.
The cafe is really nice with friendly staff and they provide children's sized sandwiches and drinks.
A very nice experience.
M. B.
Brilliant exhibts and really interesting. Will go back again next time I'm in Coventry, especially as the tickets are valid for 12 months 👍
N. J.
Like most things in this country way over priced for what you actually get, maybe that's why it was so quiet but if you have an interest in cars especially old ones it's quite a good way to spend an hour .. if you walk very slowly
J. T.
I enjoy visiting this museum as lot to see & learn about different transport over the years. A must for anyone who loves different transport.
E. H.
I thought 30 minute stay, was there for 2 hours.
G. S.
Free to get in, and surprisingly big. Loads of different vehicles from bike's to cars to fire trucks and the vehicle that broke the land speed record.
A. C.
This is a terrific transport museum. Lots of Interesting vehicles to look at. My only criticism would be that the gift shop is poorly stocked. Lots of untapped potential there.
I. B.
A great museum with an extensive collection. It tells the story of the how Coventry's transport industry came about through to its demise. Well worth a visit.
M. M.
Went there to find inspirations for for my school project. Great experience overall and if you registered with GoCV admission is free
J. B.
It was nice to visit the staff were really friendly the vehicles were really interesting but I felt that a lot of the stories behind the more interesting pieces were missing but it is very big and you need a good 2-3hours to get around.
T. P.
Wow! Great place. Fabulous collection of vehicles. The history of transport under one roof, from the humble beginnings of the bicycle to the land speed record of the Thrust SSC.
P. S.
Had a lovely afternoon with the Grandkids, nice museum bought back memories of my dad's old cars. Only disappointment was the lack of Land Rovers.
C. M.
It was brilliant. So much to see and do that even the kids didn't get bored. Really well laid out with plenty of information and the opportunity to take some great photos (which I did but not on the phone I'm writing this review on).
The tickets last 12 months and I get the impression they change elements regularly enough to keep you going back.
O. l. M. i.
So much more than a transport musuem...reflecting on the ever changing city, to the current day. I spent 2hrs in here comfortably......being a Coventry kid may of helped. Loved it.
A. C.
Super cool😎😎😎
If u love cars, u should go🏎🚗🚕🚙🚜🚘🚍🚔🚖
I was excited to those vintage style😍😍😍
And there are many interactive exhibitions 😎
M. F.
A truely fantastic experience for the family and such good value as the ticket last a full year, there's also a cafe just inside the building ,there's a war time experience and details of Coventry,s industrial past and the worlds fastest land speed vehicles, plus a wide range of bicycle, s ,motorbikes, cars, etc ,you can spend as long as you want there, well recommended
I. d.
Some great exhibits and friendly staff😃
K. S.
Excellent place to visit, a lot larger than you think, really interesting, we was there one aand aa half hours and then you come out near the tea shop which was lovely, would recommend a visit.
S. T.
If you like cars, you’ve gone to the right place.
It’s free, so you can try without any worry.
A well laid out, thoughtful look at the history of Coventry to the UK motor industry, plenty of crowd pleasing, Jags, Triumphs, etc. And several super impressive Land speed holders such as thrust.
Side gallery has changing exhibitions, Taxis was on when we visited.
All in a lovely little 1/2 day out.
Obviously very engaging, as for the first time ever in a car museum I didn’t stop to take single photo!
P. T.
Excellent place to visit, much to see and do, exhibits in really top class condition unless original condition for contrast.
D.
Fantastic, good interesting place to visit
l. a.
Been quite a few times but most recent visit was the best one of all the improvement of the displays and new interactive elements are brilliant
C. C.
Very interesting. Well worth a visit. You pay £14 per person and you can go back as many times as you want in a year.
L. T.
Nice place with lots of history. Worth going
D. F.
A must place to visit if interested in thing's with wheels on!!
G. P.
Fantastic! This is a big place. Hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of bikes and cars on display from 1800 to 2018. Laid out in (more or less) chronological order. Everything well, clearly and briefly labeled. A few videos on show as well. You can follow the numbers on the floor and walk through in chronological order, or move randomly between the rooms/areas. We went on Sunday, parked all day for £1 just 200 yards away. Great for adults or kids. I had no idea this place was there and was therefore expecting something much smaller. Entry is free!!! But do put money in the voluntary box as you go in, it's easily worth £10 per head as you'll agree when you've finished. We spent 5 hours there. This is the longest and most positive Google review I've ever given, and I've told everyone I know just what a brilliant place this is. I salute everyone involved in this project.
J. P.
Took my 3 year old grandson and he loved it. We were able t get in free because we had a go CV card. We enjoyed it too a fantastic array of cars and bicycles real education for all ages.
T. B.
Loads of cars, ancient and modern, car park are close by,right in middle of Coventry, landspeed "cars" here too.
