Reviews of Doncaster City Centre
C. T. U.
After a night on the booze.. and wanting more booze the local smsckheads was happy to point me in the direction of a off licence, they was very polite and gave directions and also had a photo 📸 ... doncasters finest 👌
L. M.
Frenchgate Shopping Centre is a nice place to shop, with almost everything you need, however, getting to the car park for the first time was a bit of a challenge, I think my satnav lost signal when going through the underpass so you really need to look out for the signs - which could be clearer!
The Market in the City Centre has shrunk in size compared to when I last visited (years ago I might add) ...but still, we had an enjoyable day
K. S.
I lived in Doncaster so I know the city centre very well. There is a large variety of shops and places to eat. There is a market, which is quite big but smaller than it used to be. You can visit the museum with the steam trains and war museum. There is the Dome where you can see live shows, a leisure centre and bowling alley.
C. A.
Quite a lot of different shops and places to eat and a thriving market. The only problem, which is an issue with many town centres, is the groups of delinquents that hang around making the place look scruffy. They are loud, obnoxious and slightly aggressive. The council needs to move them along and it would benefit the centre massively.
B. B.
Lovely big town. Really well looked after and a great atmosphere. Shops were thriving. People were friendly. Loved it.
D. R.
The market is a shadow of its former glory empty stalls all over the towns shops are not the same many closed or heap shops
P. K.
Good selection of high street stores, but as with a lot of other town centres, lots of stores have been lost post CV-19. Streets kept clean, only gripe I'd have is lack of convenience stores to buy anything out with French gate centres opening hours.
B. A.
it is the 1st time i have been to the town centre where i went to Primark and i loved this place it is so amazing and i go for 10/10 for the town centre in Doncaster.
m. l.
4 stars because there is always room for improvement but a great place for shoping and eating and up the road theres the eco power stadiom home of Doncaster Rovers a great litle team in leage 2 at the time of writeing 2022,2023. Great for tourists.
J. A. H.
Usual town centre feel about it. All shopping is now in Frenchgate leaving a lot of the centre shops empty. Shame really. Minster is well worth a visit.
B. A.
It's OK to spend a bit of time in another's town High Street area. Some nice shopes, second hand shops and places with food :)
A. Y.
We went dress shopping in the French Frenchgate Centre then went to the Patisserie for lunch. You can get just about everything you need from there.
B. M.
A lot of shops have closed down, the meat and fish market has gone downhill drastically, no fault if the traders, it the local council, people used yo travel by coach to Doncaster Market from further a field but now , it is a shell compared to what it used to be. 😔
J. M.
Went on a Sunday, hardly worth it, not much open yet the frenchgate car park fees have gone up, over £3 for less than 2 hours.
K. B.
Clean, but a dire lack of shops now, not realy worth a visit, especially as you have to dodge the foul mouthed dossiers at the entrance.
J. T.
It's had alot of money spent on the area. Some beautiful old buildings, mixed with modern shopping centres and traditional markets. Huge pedestrian zone, so you can roam freely, without fear of cars. Plenty of independent shops to look at as well as big brand. Two beautiful churches and much more.
D. C.
The same as most places with shop closures. As a city Doncaster needs to be better than this.
j. s.
Very quiet as usual since the pandemic ghost town not many people about but plenty of druggies and homeless
L. P.
Used to love this market town but not a lot of market left. Good fish market and a flower stall but not much else. All eat and drink. Bring back the market!!!!
k. M.
No too bad like every city nowadays a bit run down
R. W.
Enjoyed the meat market, Train Station was busy
s. B.
Lived here all my life, friendly people lot's of really good small and medium sized businesses
Shame about the council determined to close what was the best market in the UK
D. R.
Doncaster Town centre, always a good day out and something to do, good clean family fun.
P. S.
Wonderful area, plenty to do and see, from modern to historic. The blend achieved is well balanced and pedestrian froendly.transport links are excellent with Frenchgate combining bus and train facilities.Make a special note of the water features and sculpted marble engraved tributes to the train history and St Leger horse winners of the past and present, situated on the concourse between the transport hubs.Well worth a good look.
L. K.
Loads of shops and I loved the markets and the food places.
K. H.
I'm sure there is lots to like about Doncaster but the amount of drugggies, shop doorway huggers, alcoholics and beggers really put me off, sadly I have to work here regularly
R. S.
Very hustle and bustle , love it , lots of shops and food places , Im not really a fan of shopping but if I was , I would definitely come here more regular
N.
Unfortunately lots of undesirable people about , too many pubs , still love the larger shops and only shop there personally , shame really as this town was the best around .
P. S.
Still some good shops although a lot have closed, market not as good as it used to be such a shame
M. K.
Pleasant to walk round no bother, plenty of parking spaces at usual cost. Great days shopping.
H. S.
Sadly looking down at heel now.So many shop closures ! Many people begging..a sign of the times I know and rather a lot if shouting males making things uncomfortable!
G. G. F.
Very nice town plenty of shops
K. S.
Lots of shops and facilities. O.k. for the range of things you need. Too many teens hanging around the Frenchgate shopping centre. Good parking and train access.
M. C.
Lots of shops with varied prices so something for everyone
h. f.
It's getting worse full of layabouts shouting and spitting all-over. Don't go in often as it makes me feel unsafe
P. B.
Better than Rotherham at least there are shops that are open and not to many druggies.
P. A. H.
Had a wander around the shopping mall, bought some things and then went somewhere else.
m. 1.
Quite a few shops closed so they fill it with cheap tacky shops....granted some people like this stuff, but not my cup of tea.
D. B.
Lots of shops to look in..really busy.
D. H.
The town is far from what it used to be a good place to shop all the shop concentration is on the shops in arndale centre and sod the rest of town
A. H.
Some good shopping, and great food outlets
S. J.
Such a great town to go for a look around in. With a very nice outdoor market as well and a great shopping centre as well.
c. b.
Not bad, needs more street cleaning and fines for throwing garbage
D. B.
Like Donny always good shopping 🙂
M. M.
Plenty of pubs and Cafes, Mobile phone shops and A good food court on The Market.
J. W.
Not many shops open. The ones still open are very good.
J.
I love shopping in Doncaster makes a change
R. B.
Went in food hall plenty of course
c. A.
Very quiet. Just went for a walk in a differant area.
C. W.
It used to be good but sadly Doncaster council have destroyed the market that the Romans started. Destroyed the town centre for shopping by allowing pubs and bars to open in what was retail space. Building monuments all over town In the guise of public buildings like theatres council offices. Instead of using property that we already have. They say they have no money gosh what a surprise. Perhaps one day they will realise they are not gods
C. E.
Good shopping and eating faculties
G. C.
Starting to get with it. Free parking on Sunday at market. Lovely eateries at wool market and movies restaurant. Flannels shop opened so hope will attract more high end shops
J. K.
Doncaster town centre is a nice place. If you ignore all the spice heads. It has cheap and convenient stores like The Works and Smakpol. It has good connections to the rest of Doncaster but, as I said earlier, it is full of people who abuse drugs.
G.
Great place for a day out, good for shopping too and some fair priced headphones :) very nice historic buildings and train station is one of the main switching points so easy enough to get there.
M. H.
Not a place to feel safe in anymore
W. S.
Very basic shopping experience.
D. C.
Great place to shop and eat
M. D.
Rough looking place now
A. W.
The biggest let down of my home town is constantly being approached and asked for money .
a. b.
Every thing you need in a town centre
O. O.
Face lift and massive improvements going on in Doncaster Town Centre. From Doncaster Train Station to Silver Street road reconstruction, Wool Market, Corn Exchange to new construction on the site of the old Civic Centre at Hall Gate, and former Doncaster Girls' College. Blessings always on Doncaster!
E. S.
I've been at this point many times. Frenchgate Shopping Centre and Interchange is yards away.
Town Centre is Doncaster's historic hub. Shopping centres and retail is a major feature. A market is at Goose Hill, Doncaster Markets won a markets competition fairly recently with the individual competition bringing two markets in the top ten, Doncaster won with Mexborough fourth.
S. G.
Very nice and busy
R. L.
Run down like many town centres...
I.
Good place for shopping and coffee ☕
k. h.

a. b.
Congratulations on becoming a city Doncaster.
A. G.
It's OK
A.
Great place where you can shop for anything from groceries to technology. However the homeless and spiceheads are ruining it's image.
d. s.
Always traffic at peak times, but good road layouts so it keeps moving.
G. E.
OK to spend a couple hours
K. T.
Lively, friendly, well set out with plenty of toilets and places to eat.
K. P.

S. W.

C. B.
great for all your shopping needs but homeless begging and spice heads are on the rise
E. S.
The map measuring point for Doncaster was here. It's about 150 yards away at North Bridge's junction with Doncaster's inner ring road.
