Reviews of Adam Smith Statue
The statue of the influential Scottish economist is located just before St Giles on the Royal Mile.
One should not miss Adam Smith when visiting Edinburgh!
The locals have a erm... humorous... relationship with this monument. When I was in town, he was wearing a traffic cone as a hat, and friends of mine said he had other defacement on their visits. It obviously deserves to be here though, such an important figure more liberal than most people realize.
Adam Smith is amongst the most important modern philosophers, moralists and economists. His ideas laid foundation to liberalism both as a philosophy and as an economic theory.
I love Adam Smith, so I loved this monument. Make sure to get there for pics during the day, because his face is a little difficult to see.
Located in the old town, the statue adds a touch of history and culture to the beautiful town centre. And it's not too far from the main train station.
The Glorious Founder of Capitalism, it has such a meaning to visit the statue of such an important man. A Scottish Man!
Huge fan of capitalism 5/5 very good
One of many statues on the Royal Mile
A fitting and relevant statue of an extremely important figure. I wish they would maintain the statues a bit better though.
Downtown of Edinbrough is really ancient and nice. Come there to go for a walk and to look around.
Edinburgh and particularly the royal mile are so packed with interesting buildings and statues that few tourists actually stop and check the statue of this influential economist.
A must-visit for economic enthusiasts!
Great statue for a great man!
Great man.
Finally I can see him.
One of the must to visit in Edinburgh
Nice

But, who is he?
Adam Smith (1723-1790), Scottish philosopher and economist, is considered the father of liberal economics. He is the author of The Theory of Moral Sentiments (1759). Adam Smith spent the last years of his life in Edinburgh. A stop near the statue also allows you to discover St-Giles Cathedral located next to it.
A hugely important writer and thinker from history that Scotland is very proud to call one's own. Author of The Wealth of Nations, economic theories, and the idea of the social contract between people's and government thus allowing for the movement away from monarchy systems. Don't miss him on the royal mile and thank him you can afford a vacation.
(Translated) On the way from the city center to Edenborough Castle
There are a lot of churches and souvenir shops around, so it's lively.

You find him walking down royal mille street. Economist recognized as the father of modern philosophy, his most recognized work being "The Wealth of Nations". He lived as a professor in Glasgow.
Mythical!
The statues here always have seagulls on their heads.
The starting point of Edinburgh tourism. Enjoy the atmosphere of the old town
God of Finance Author of "The Theory of Rich Countries"
This attraction is a tribute to the Scottish economist who was one of the greatest exponents of economic liberalism. It is located opposite St. Giles Cathedral.
Edinburgh is a very old city, with a special charm. It is beautiful and has a lot to know.
Interesting, located on the Royal main
On the Royal Mile. It is not the statue, it is the location that cannot be missed if you visit Edinburgh
Nice place to walk and lovely monument and architecture around.
Author of the famous "The Wealth of Nations".
A statue of an important person in economics and philosophy.
a joy
One more point of interest of all those in the city. We passed by there several times.
History of Scotland up close
very important figure in history. Adam Smith deserves the statue. It could be maintained a bit better though
A must visit see you anyone who cares about economics.
It's a statue... but a nice one, I guess. A good meeting place on the Royal Mile, and somewhere you will find is the starting point for many of the walking tours which take place in Edinburgh.
