Reviews of Dynamic Earth
D. M.
Really enjoyed our visit here as it suits all ages.
You walk through different areas, each with a different theme. You are guided through by staff who were all helpful and enthusiastic about the area they look after.
The planetarium at the end was excellent, different shows happen throughout the day. We saw ‘You are here’ which was great talk given by an enthusiastic astronomer with amazing visuals.

What an outstanding exhibition! Wether your an Adult or Child you are going to absolutely love this place.
It's interactive, there's a Time Machine, you get to fly in a 3D Jet and Operate a Deep Sea ROV and the 360° Auditorium is literally out of this world!
It very educational and will open your eyes as to where it all began.
We enjoyed it so much.....we're coming back with the whole family.

A nice place to visit. You have to book your tickets in advance for the planetarium shows which is a little annoying because it’s hard to say how long it will take you to get round because a lot of the beginning is watching videos until you can walk around freely. We ended up missing our show because we have never visited before so it took us longer than anticipated to walk round.

Absolutely must visit in Edinburgh. It's amazing experience for children and adults. All staff were great. You can get really nice food after in the café. There is charge for parking.
a. z.
I always wondering why the ticket price is expensive. But after I experienced it on my own, I can totally understand (it deserves that price for the maintenance etc)! What an amazing attraction! We, as an adult can enjoy it too very much. Our 2yo son surprisingly also always seemed amazed when entering every section (although not sure he understand it entirely, no bother though bcse we explain in simpler word too to him, but he is happy and enjoying it!). Love the time machine feature, the EM 4D flight, and the planetarium is also beauutiful! We watched the capcom go, documentary about apollo project to the moon. It was cool.
Totally recommended for anyone visiting Edinburgh. In syaa Allah you will not regeret the price you pay to. Thank you for providing this science attractions in the country!

It’s in very good location nearby Holyrood Palace.
This place is not only for kids but the adults will enjoy it too.
The whole tour is between 60min - 90min and also every 30 mins the short documentary in the observatory is played.
There is also small bistro where you can sit meanwhile you’re waiting for the movie.
There is also the gift shop and the lift access to each section, available for mums with prams and wheelchairs.

Came for a wee date and we where not disappointed. Nice and quiet, brilliant café area also highly recommend the marshmallow iced late 👌.
Lots of interactive rooms with space to explore. Will be returning. Also a huge applause to the staff who really bring the visit to life.
M. D.
OK myself and my 2 year old went here. We went for last entry at 4pm on the spur of the moment (closes at 6pm). We had an awesome time. Very helpful staff. All the staff were super helpful from a young woman that helped me with my pram down the steps to the car park, the young gentlemen who helped me purchase my tickets, the very energetic workers who met us in each section, the planetarium and 4D cinema and finally the gift shop. Blaine was awesome, played with my son and even got on the floor. My son loved it, he wasn't too young (as people told me), but he's very smart! 😂 Loved it.
r. h.
My son was 4 and he managed to take a lot from the experience. Great for adults too. Very interesting explanations at each part of the tour. The planetarium at the end tops off the experience. Lovely soup of the day too! Great value for money. Brilliant day out. I’d suggest taking your time as you walk round if your wanting to make a day of it. We rushed it a bit. And we’re only there there for 2 hours.
M. S.
We attended the Planetarium show last weekend. Was a lovely evening out. The venue was super clean and the staff friendly and well trained. The show had great visuals of all the planets paired up classic music.
N. J.
My friend and I had alot of fun here. The rooms are informative and immersive as well as full of information. Would recommend. Only took us an hour to go through and had the show at the end in the dome room which was great. Overall great for something to do.
C. H.
This truly is a 5* attraction. It has been years since I had been and I am very happy I went. A bit massive thanks to the following: Rob, Chris, Toni and Jacob( I think) everyone was helpful and friendly.
Really lovely family day out.
The food was tasty
The planetarium was amazing.
B. T.
Very fun attraction! Interactive and engaging. Lost a star because there was a huge school group right behind us the whole tour who were loud and running through everything. The employees were excellent and handled it well but we kept rushing to the next section just to stay away from the large obnoxious group. Perhaps they could only allow that large of school groups access before opening or after closing or allow one day of the week only for scheduled large groups.
F. D.
Nice place. As an adult, i had a lot of fun here. The planetarium is so-so, i have seen better, but it’s fine. More for children i guess. The rest is good fun and interesting.
Lats thing, avoid the restaurant if possible, nice service but the food is really cantine like.
J.
Coolest experience ever! So many interactives, gimmicks and special shows! I would definitely recommend the gallery Tour as well as the planetarium shows. Science made interesting in a very cool way, for kids as well as for adults. Loved it!
k. n.
I had questions about our planet, have had for a long time and many were answered on the amazing tour of the visitors centre.
It was genuinely jaw dropping, so well put together and suits all ages especially with all the interactive exhibitions. Highly recommend.
S. M.
Worth the money the first time you go. I last went around 2 years ago though and re-visited today and everything seemed to be the exact same - was hoping for some newer content. Don't take the car though - £8.50 for parking for a couple of hours is a bit steep.
J. J.
My husband and I came here whilst on holiday in Edinburgh and it was fantastic. I know its likely mostly aimed at kids, but we're both massive nerds and we loved it here. The immmersiveness and different temps and SFXs in the rooms really added to the overall experience. The planetarium is fantastic and James gave some fantastic talks there for the ocean show and one of the space shows and James was very knowledgeable on both subjects. Would highly recommend a visit.
G. G.
Great place, lot to do, lot to see! We spent amazing time there! Was bit busy, lot of people but still was really nice. Really really worth to come!!!! See you again soon 😘
L. O.
This place is for kids who ran away from the science class. There is more interesting video on internet.
N. P.
Visited Dynamic Earth this week with my 2 sons (7 and 9 years old). We all loved it, I was really impressed! The 4D cinema and dome theatre were brilliant. We stayed for about 4 hours and had lunch. We brought a packed lunch (plenty tables to sit and eat) but the cafe also seemed to be very reasonably priced and did packs for the kids. The staff are great, one of the guides took the time to talk to my sons for ages about bones and fossil poo! They were fasinated :) We will def visit again.
M. D.
Amazing Amazing!! My boyfriend and I absolutely loved It! Staff were friendly and lots of interactive activities throughout. The planetarium show was also great, not even too expensive considering the all hard work behind It. Definetely worth our weekend! ❤️
S. A.
Great visit for both adults and kids. There are selected movies you can watch which is shown in the 360 screen. It feels very magical.
d. m.
A unique experience throughout time and space, the exhibition unfolds with narrations complemented with immersive environments. A full four dimensions experience that takes you in different geological ages with quirky twists opening one after another. Loved it 💚!!
L. S.
every interesting place foe adults and kids. they were busy the entire time and enjoyed the interactive parts of the museum. Highlights for kids were the planetarium and flying through the biomes.
L. B.
An enjoyable experience throughout the Earth history! Targeted for all ages. Price of the ticket is worth the visit. High level of technologies have been used to provide a more entertaining experienfe. We've participated to the Stars show which demonstrated how we were made from stars, but I expected it to also show how the star system works.
E. B.
One of the best museums I've visited, if you have any interest in geology, but are not above average. Simply presented, for young audience and for people without lot's of knowledge. Schedule a visit just after opening at 10.00 as it is calm. Buses started to arrive, just as I was exiting the building. Can get quite busy as it seems. Not a museum type myself, but this was interesting.
J. M.
Really enjoyed my time there, lived the tour and had a great laugh. Unfortunately I lost one of my belongings and they found it and have mailed it back, really pleased with them and the rest of yous would love it.
O. Z.
Very recommended! Unfortunately, I didn’t take some pictures because it was so fascinating
A. S.
Great experience today at Dynamic Earth with the family! Very interesting yet fun as well for kids as they'll all enjoy it since there's so many exiting things to enjoy and even take part in! Definitely worth the money!
K. M.
Great experience for young and old. Very informative.
x.
Perfect program for an afternoon with kids. Our 5 and 7 year old were blown away by it - even though they don’t speak English, they thoroughly enjoyed it!
k.
Absolutly breathtaking place! My and my kids 'll never forget that adventure. Autism friendly! Staff absolutely outstanding! 11/10 really I never though that museum can be that awsome!
J.
An absolutely amazing place! This is fantastic for families or even couple's. It can be a bit cringy if your a couple but its still worth it. They do also try to push the Scottish point a bit, but that just added to the amusement.
The only other thing I would say is if your suffer from epilepsy then give this a miss and there is one part that could cause motion sickness.
Right at the end there is a segment voiced by David Tennant so what is there not too love?
And to just give a a breif overview it's an interactive science exobtion. It starts if with how the galaxy was formed to the ice age etc...
R. C.
We travelled 6 hours to Edinburgh for half term and the weather was worse than expected so I guess me, hubby and 2 x kids were probably pinning quite high hopes on Dynamic Earth to help justify the long drive there and back....
...And my goodness did they deliver!
We absolutely loved our experience at Dynamic Earth, it was brilliant. It was educational yet fun and interactive.
The star of the show, without a doubt, was the final Planetarium Show. We had Astronomer Ali doing the show for us and he was absolutely amazing. Ali was knowledgeable, personable, fun and the visuals to go with were mind blowing.
During half term week they were also doing a special Fossil event, which was also awesome.
What made the Dynamic Earth experience as a whole really great was that all the staff you come across are so welcoming in each of the areas and really helped make the day.
Thank you, we hope to return again one day!
M. G.
Amazing place. My favorite part was the planetarium, we booked for "You are here" show and was great, she explain everything very well. The rest of the museum is amazing and all the staff was helpful and friendly. Highly recommend it!
On the other hand the coffee shop has poor vegan options and the scones were hard like a rock.
S. S.
I like this place because I'm in to science like finding out about earth, the best bit is when you go in to a lift, in to the future and it shakes then everyone jumps lol. If your hungry try and avoid the cafe as the quality of the food is poor,
A. H.
Great experience for children, learn all about how the planet earth was formed.
This is a guided tour through video viewing areas of each stage of the earth's creation.
l. s.
MUST VISIT!
This should be on everyone's itinerary when visiting Edinburgh as much as the Castle and Palace. Everyone was so lovely, especially Katie who was super welcoming and friendly. It's super interesting, fun and full of sensory interactives. There is also a 3D mini cinematic video. Do not miss this out it should be the first thing on your list, yes the first! Deffo the highlight of my Edinburgh visit.
it's super fun and educational for the kids, and adults!
Z. K.
The staff here are helpful and enthusiastic which is probably what really makes the visit!
It's a nicely designed museum experience though I feel it's targeted more for children between ages 6 and 14. My 4 year old got quite freaked out by the time machine, space ship and the volcano room (which were quite early on) and so was put off all the other exhibits, including the Arctic and rainforest which I'm sure he would have otherwise enjoyed. In that way it's a shame you have to walk through each exhibit, room by room in consecutive manner instead of strategically side tracking from areas you may not want to visit.
The bathroom and eating facilities are really good and the soft play area in the basement is a nice touch if you have younger children to entertain while the older ones explore the exhibits. It's a shame the soft play hasn't reopened after Covid.
The annual explorer pass is a really good deal, especially considering the numerous planetarium shows on offer and the dino club events for those who live locally or visit the city often. Finally, the location being just next to Arthur's seat makes for a spectacular outing!
h. w.
Great day out. Only gripe us the ridiculous parking charges £10 for a few hours. Surely it can be refunded when you are paying to visit Dynamic earth? Price if parking makes me not want to return.
A.
-Brilliant
-Really informative
-Friendly staff
-Student discount
-Clean and tidy toilets
-Cafe serves Fairtrade tea and coffee
-Soy drink they use is Rude Health
-Environmentally conscious company
E. L.
Went for killing some time but actually really enjoyed it. A lot of kids (obviously) but it wasn’t too busy even on the weekend morning. There were a lot of interacting things to touch and feel. The show we watched was about Apollo spaceship and it was very interesting!
J.
My kids just loved it. And so did I. Unforgotten science experience with many surprising 3d events. Absolutely fantastic place in Edinburgh.
M. W.
What got me the most about DE was how friendly the staff were. They were really engaging with the kids and just appeared to really enjoy their job and want to make everyone's visit enjoyable. The exhibitions too were excellent - very modern, interesting and loads to do and learn. Also ample parking below the venue. Would defo recommend for all ages.
J. D.
One of my favourite places in Edinburgh. All the staff was very friendly and helpful . It's well located near to Holyrood palace. The exhibition is great and very interactive. It's a great place to visit with kids. It's a wonderful place to know a little better the evolution from planet earth. It's a must see on Edinburgh.
T. M.
Great day out! Incredibly well put together, informative and enjoyable for all ages. Fantastic for family trips - highly recommended!
M. G.
Very fun and educational! Went there for a day out with a friend 😊
R. M.
I have been here as both a child and a childlike adult, in the exhibitions and for a work Christmas party and both are superb! It's a beautiful venue with loads to do, and the food was great too. Particularly enjoyed the chocolate box and rainforest room.
M. E.
A first class attraction. It was packed with interesting things from beginning to end. Excellent use of technology and just enough detail. Will come back next time we are in Edinburgh.
M. P.
Not to be missed. Super fun way to learn about evolution and our planet. After your visit, don't leave without having a hot chocolate at their Cafe. It's delicious!
L. A.
I really enjoyed my time there. The show in the planetarium was so relaxing and educational, even for myself as an adult. The other parts of the attraction were very educational and well-made, there was even a 4D show at the end. It was also well socially distanced.
P. V.
I visited with my fiancé, this place isn't just for kids! It was a great interactive experience, with lots to get involved in. We loved the 3d film experience, and got snowed on! (with foam) - we will be coming back here with the kids in summer, my eldest is very excited to experience the time machine!
N.
Really interesting. Takes about hour and a half and you'll experience how the Earth was made, see a rainforest, watch a 3D film... Great fun for all of the family.
K. P.
A good experience for younger children who seem to be the target audience and ok for older children & adults. You are guided by some knowledgeable staff through different interactive "zones" of the Earth's history and natural environment which is interesting and can be fun. Planetarium is great and the show runs every 30 minutes. Cafe is ok serving a basic menu with slow friendly service.
R. I.
Not cheap, but worth it. Varied and sometimes surprising.
R. C.
Really enjoyed our afternoon here, tour very interactive and visual, it really captured our children's imagination. Cafe absolutely shocking, we waited 20 minutes and no-one came to take our order, seemed to be plenty of staff, lots of empty tables but organisation an absolute shambles. Planetarium was brilliant, we went to the 'live' show, very engaging, will definitely go again.
L. W.
Great place for a day out.
Cafe really good packed lunch for kids.
M. S.
I visited Dynamic Earth recently with my daughter and grandchildren. We were amazed at how the experience flowed and how well it was presented, also the friendiness and helpfulness of the staff. This is a really excellent experience, that somehow manages to appeal to all visitors, from small children to mature well-informed adults, engaging you wherever you are. A powerful and brilliant day, far surpassing our expectations. Thankyou.
C. A.
Brilliant as always. Friendly staff and brilliant things to see and interact with. Reasonable price gift shop as well but I feel like £7.50 for 2 1/2 hour parking is expensive on top of the entry fees.
P. 1.
I visited for the "You Are Here" Planetarium show. I believe it lasted for 50 minutes. It was very well presented and informative. I feel it was very much a bite-size experience leaving me wanting to know more. The start of the show was a little unnerving for me as I don't cope well with heights so just be warned. Great for kids as very well explained and the graphics were fab. The cost I believe was £12 so I guess not bad. Hoping there is a more indepth show.
M. S.
Thought this was great. Real care has gone into this and the planetarium is awesome. Really enjoyed it.
N. W.
Omg it is SO GREAT!!!!
We bought tickets for just one show, but loved it so much that decided to stay for one more!!! The astronomer was so nice! Entertaining and not boring!!! I loved loved loved it!!!
The staff is super nice and friendly! We couldn’t decide what we wanted at first, but a lovely girl spent about 5 minutes with us explaining what every show was about and helped us a lot.
S. M.
About how the Earth works. Great exhibitions and a cool iceberg. Can get very very busy with school groups. Try and go early or late. Schools will always have priority, so book the planetarium.
M. H.
A magical day out for children and adults alike - I remember visiting dynamic Earth as a youngster with my family, and after loving it so much, I came back many years later.
The staff are all super friendly and helpful, and seem to love being there. Really informative, and there’s a great variety of shows on at the planetarium. Would highly recommend!
L. A.
Visited in October. The staff are so friendly & helpful. Unfortunately, we found Dynamic Earth dated. With latest technology, this attraction would be incredible. The best part for us was the Planetarium & the young Astronomer was entertaining & informative as well. Fantastic!
M. N.
Excellent attraction. Educational and informative and most importantly, fun. The kids love it!
J. S.
Visited for the "You Are Here" Planetarium show.
Why wasn't this sold out.
Amazing!!!
M. H.
Great place to visit. Would deffinitly recommend. The tour was great and definitely worth it, it is suitable for both adults and children. I don't want to spoil anythig about the tour, but in short is about the creation of the earth and how it was formed and how became what it is today.
A. B. J.
Amazing show for children and adults . The 3D picture show towards the end was well with the visit
l. h.
Had a great day out with family 1st time iv been and was a great day we did tour and planetarium value for money defo will visit again
B. B.
The activities offered looked great but we didn't have time to do the experience since we had to get to Edinburgh Castle at a certain time and the tour at Dynamic Earth was at least an hour without doing the Planetarium.
K. I.
One of the best Science Exhibitions I have ever seen. The level of interactive technology is amazing. Make sure you book the planetarium at the end, you won't regret it. A cinematic and immersive story about the world we live on. Made so everyone can understand and learn more in fantastic fashion!
P. T.
Really nice museum, but avoid the cafe at lunch time - took nearly an hour to get the food and drinks. They have more seats than they can serve in a reasonable time. You will be better of elsewhere.
J. G.
Lot of information about the forming for Scotland which was really cool.
Only thing that was bad about the place it is tight next to the Scottish Parliament building....
K. L.
An extremely interesting place for all tastes and ages :)
M.
Before I went I read a few reviews and I thought it's mostly for kids
But not at all
It was such a great experience
A self guided tour around so many amazing beautiful sections that show the changed that have happened to the Earth and how it's developed by now
With an interesting planetarium documentary and a fun gift shop
r. h.
Looked pretty interesting, unfortunately didn't get enough time to explore.
A. C.
It showed in great realistic detail how life on earth and climate started after the big bang
S. H.
6 adults, 5 children and everybody enjoyed it. Definitely book a show at the planetarium - I can recommend You Are Here - it did give me a bit of motion sickness but so enjoyable!
k.
What a fantastic place to visit. Loved every minute. I have have be honest it's not my thing. But I found it fascinating especially the planetarium. Well worth the money, I would highly recommend to anyone.
S. S.
Dynamic Earth Visit I like this place because I’m in to science like finding out about earth, the best bit is when you go in to a lift, in to the future and it shakes then everyone jumps lol. If your hungry try and avoid the cafe as the quality of the food is a bit poor

What a fabulous place! Visited with my nephews recently and was really impressed. I must admit the admission price did seem a bit expensive on first arrival, but it is worth every penny once you see what it covers. Would definitely recommend an annual pass if you live locally as it is great value.
The exhibits were really well done and provides interactive opportunities for the children. The whole experience is very engaging, the 3D cinema was probably my favourite!
The staff were brilliant, very friendly and patient with the children, answering all their questions.
Definitely want to bring my nephews back when they are a little older as they were a bit too young to appreciate everything they saw.
K. O.
Really enjoyed our visit! Staff was fantastic!
D. S.
Really impressed with this place and in particular the staff. We went with four children ranging from 18 months to 8 years old and they all had a brilliant time. There are a series of themed spaces, which are linked together to create a narrative and move visitors through at a good pace. It took us about 3 hours and the kids were stimulated throughout. Of particular note was how engaged and enthusiastic the staff were. They proactively engaged the kids and seemed to really enjoy making sure we had a good time.
D. T.
Well worth it especially if you have kids. Was very interactive and they were constantly cleaning. Planetarium show was great as well. Worth the ticket price.
I. H.
One of the best museums in the UK we have ever visited. Friendly and enthusiastic staff plus engrossing state of the art videos and displays made this a visit to remember. For children ( and adults ) aged 8 plus I cannot recommend this museum enough.
S. M.
Went to a conference here recently and was a great venue. Audio and visual equipment worked well and staff were amazingly attentive. Good service of food and drink. - Only annoyance was the spiral stairs. Going up and down to get to the different rooms. Maybe if there was a link between the two to use? This would have improved the day. I also hate noisy children, but this venue did well to keep those gross things away.
A. A.
Extremely enthusiastic place......... It captures the attention of kids and parents alike. From the small science experiments to the larger than life experiences, its just fascinating. The contribution to the understanding of complex mechanisms and the level of detail provided here, astonishes, anyone. Its a blend of science and fun. Strongly recommend this place to anyone with kids and want to have some fun while you learn.
L. C.
We went to the "You are here" show at the planetarium and would highly recommend. Perfect length at 30mins for our young children, excellent live narration and all very Covid-secure.
S.
The first part worth the cost but the film could have been more interesting and the 4d experience not really 4d to finish the car pack is expensive. To resume it’s a good experience but a we bit expensive.
V.
Amazing for children, for only adults the experience would be better if there weren't screaming children in the background. My experience was great of the employees to try and accommodate me by trying to keep me ahead of the school children. The walk through was amazing they did a great job trying to immersing you into the past and a step by step process of how earth came to be.
V. L.
My daughter, my 6 year old granddaughter, my 2 year old grandson and myself had an absolutely brilliant day here. We entered just after opening time and left at closing time. We were ALL thoroughly entertained for the whole day. Very informative and loads of interactive activities for all ages. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
C. B.
Visited Dynamic Earth on 23/8/18 with my 3 sons and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Even though it was a miserable day there was hardly anyone in & for the first 3 rooms on the tour we were totally on our own. It was educational but in a way that was appealing and I don't know about the kids but I learned loads! All the staff were lovely and I thought the entrance fee was very reasonable. Can't recommend it enough. My only criticism was that the sandwich I had for lunch in the cafe was absolutely tasteless. No excuse at all for this. Everything else was great.
J. J.
Such an interesting museum to go to, for any age! It is made so enjoyable and entertaining. Time machine which brings you when universe started and travel to the days we are living now. I enjoyed there so much I didn't want to leave. Coffee inside. Different shows every 30 minutes. Souvenir shop inside.
S. B.
Went here today with our kids who are 6, 4 & 3. Just for myself & my 6 year old, it was £21.95! I believe it's a bit over priced, even with a concession ticket. Going round, it was mostly just sitting watching a short film & then getting moved on to the next room. For kids over 6 or 7, this would be perfect. But for younger children, it's a lot of sitting around & not enough hands on. I thought there would be a lot more interactive things to do & you could walk round at your leisure. I think it should be age restricted for over age 6. The younger 2 just didn't understand. The "soft play" that's in the cafe is not even a soft play. It has a ball pit, a very short & small climb wall & some crash mats, that's it. Also, the gift shop was extortionate, as these things always are. Over all, it's a highly over priced, highly over rated tourist trap. Go to the national museum on chambers street which is free & you can learn so much more. Sorely disappointed. I forgot to add in too, the parking here isn't free! For 3 hours it's almost £8!!! We parked at the top of holyrood road with my disabled badge & walked down from there. The parking situation needs to be sorted because the prices for parking near enough gave me a heart attack!!!
A. M.
Brilliant for adults and kids alike. Dynamic Earth is an interactive journey through time focusing on how the earth formed and has changed over the past few billion years. It manages that monumental task in a way that's informative and enjoyable for all ages.
It's relatively expensive, but it's not a normal 'museum' experience. You get taken on a journey through time via a series of shows and screenings, plus some interactive spaces.
There are regular shows in the 360 degree ShowDome, which are excellent.
You can easily spend 3-4 hours here (or do it more quickly if you want), and I was surprised to come away thinking that it was good value, given the cost.
The cafe is very good, with decent food at a decent price. The gift shop is overpriced but on a par with others.
Excellent place to take children, especially those over 7 years old. Highly recommended.
m. p.
An excellent place to visit if you like sciences. Very much suitable for children and families, but regardless of the age you can experience an entertaining time journey through various phases of the development of the planet earth. There are also 3 different shows, the one I found (based on the timing of your visit) was about the astronomy of the universe and the link between the human body and the stars. Great place to visit
J. C. (.
Kids enjoyed the time travel aspect and especially loved the 3D virtual flight. We sat in the snowy section and would highly recommend it. Some of the sections were a bit advanced for my six and eight year old and the film 'We are Aliens' wasn't what we expected but they loved the graphics and idea of the cinema. Well worth a visit.
D. P.
It is a lovely place to go and can spend for hours, even though we don’t go to the tour, we still can spend time on the cafe level, children loves it. The shop is full of interesting toys, staff can too nice to not to tell children off for playing the toys.
Recently cafe introduced an edible straw, has different flavours, e.g strawberry, chocolate and lemon etc., v. Nice and not too sweet at all! Highly recommended to try these straws. And of course dynamite earth is a place to go too!
R. H.
Excellent and informative, a good two hours or so entertainment. The exhibits take the form of a 'tour' moving from area to area and finishing with a short film. I enjoyed it very much as did my 9 year old son. The hot food in the restaurant is very good.
G. S.
Real fun and informative museum, loved the travelling in time
B. B.
Didn't know what to expect from Dynamic Earth and was pleasantly surprised.
Different rooms explore different climates and it was incredibly interesting and effective
Great for children.
There is a sense of having to get through things at a lightening pace though and it can be over quicker than you may like.
The restaurant food looked a bit sorry for itself as well.
B. M.
Staff are very helpful. Fully accessible for wheelchair users. Food at the cafe is good/coffee is amazing. Great place for a family day out. The 3d world tour is so much fun. Highly recommended.
R. F.
This is an excellent attraction great for the whole family. The exhibits are cc well crafted and thought through. My only critism is the shop is a total contradiction to the environmental message delivered throughout the experience. With cheap plastic toy and lots of single use plastics.
This is the only reason it was not 5 out 5.
B. x.
Had a brilliant day staff were supportive and very enthusiastic which just make the trip a whole lot better !! The amount of thing to see it's great and haven't had a chance to learn so many stuff in such a fun way brilliant for kids as well. Good cafe and food, very nice and big souvenirs shop had very big variety it's 9/10 for this place
S. E. E.
Amazing! A great day out for families especially. You need about 2 hours to explore everything!
B. M.
A great place to go to to learn about the planet earth. Plenty to see and do as you wonder through a set route. Videos are played on big screens, other areas have members of staff talking about the exhibits. Great for all ages. Bit of a walk out of the city. Overall it takes around two hours to go around the whole venue, so leave entry of time to get down there. Food hall is available.
J. C.
I went by my own. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The attraction takes you in a tour from the times of the creation of Earth to the current era. It is aimed for childrens but it is very enjoyable and educative for Adults too.
M. M.
Very nice and interesting. If you have a child and the weather is not so good, take a look! Time machine is fantastic. The 4d is disabled, only 2d works fine! The bar/restaurant is not so big, so if you want eat something bring from home.
S. M.
Quite interesting but overpriced. Wouldn't have minded if the tour wasn't filled with screaming children. Staff were friendly and the information was clear and easy to follow. The big movie was a bit more tailored to children which I don't really like since children tend to scream and fidget through the whole thing.
M. C.
What an interesting place and so nicely done. Took our 3 year old and he loved it, and so did we! Don't want to give too much away, well worth going. Obviously there is an entrance fee and parking is pay and display underground. We will definitely go again.
N. W.
I've visited Our Dynamic Earth on many occasions - as a visitor and also as a class teacher with Primary 6 pupils as part of our Space topic. The exhibitions are interactive and engaging and I love the Show Dome since it was renovated with comfy seats. My favourite exhibit was always the giant iceberg as a child! The staff are friendly and informative, and are always willing to answer questions. As part of the school trip we had a workshop called 'Space is Big' which I highly recommend - it was packed with activities to really get the pupils thinking. I will definitely be returning!
T. F.
Really enjoyed this exhibit, apart from the stupid utterly inconsiderate parents of a small child that despite crying and screaming through one of the cinema experiences kept it there to spoil everyone else' experience. Having been in similar situations myself when my son was younger I would leave so as not to spoil everyone else' fun may you get no sleep tonight as karma and contract nappy rash on your face you vile filth womble.
That being said it was really good fun and I would recommend this to anyone other than people with children under the age that you can control their volume.
J. E.
Our Dynamic Earth has some really amazing bits (the dome cinema is a particular highlight) and definitely has something for most ages. Under the age of about 4 a couple of bits seem to be quite scary (especially the time travel lift) but there's lots to look at if you take the time to read and explain. Older kids seem to really enjoy it. The revamped start of the tour is much improved and really interesting. A few of the interactive bits are getting a bit tired but they get a huge number of visitors so not a surprise. Shop and cafe are both decent. During winter make sure you check opening days as it's not open to the public Monday to Wednesday.
B.
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the journey of earth. Possibly the most amazing and technologically advance museums I've ever seen until now (definitely better than science museum in London so far). Must must visit for nerds and earth lovers!!
A. M.
Mind blown. This is one of the best attractions I have visited. My children (9 and 11) were fascinated and engaged by the 4D experiences describing the story of the Earth. Amazing cinema experience. World class Scotland...
K. S.
There's so much to do here you really need a week to get around and enjoy it all. My children, when young, were a little scared of the 'time travel' lift, so be watchful of that if you have sensitive young ones. Other than that, a really great place for adults and kids alike. I didn't think it was too pricey for what it was. Enjoy!
C. M.
Great day out for the full family. As a geology student I found it particularly enjoyable, but there is plenty for the average person and kids. Entry price is reasonable and I would say worth it for the full experience.
A. B.
Have been a few times now and always enjoyed the interactive displays! Havent been for a while now, but if i visit Edinburgh again i may have to go back 💜💜💜💜💙💙💜🌸✨🍃🌌🦋
D. O.
Great place for day out if your kids like the space, earth, universe etc. Annual ticket is worth getting if you are from the Edinburgh area, even if you just go 2 or 3 times in a year. Cafe is not too expensive either.
D. R.
This place was absolutely fantastic! Even better than we hoped for. So engaging, great value for money and something to interest all of the children (we took 16,14,11,5,3 year olds and newborn) great few hours! Highly recommend.
M. K.
I went to Dynamic Earth as part of a conference and the staff and location were magnificent. If you ever have the opportunity to host an event at this location I cannot recommend it highly enough.
The displays at Dynamic Earth are primarily aimed at children between 7-13 and they are full of information and interactivity. The venue also sits next to the beautiful Holyrood Park, Arthur's Seat and the Scottish Parliament.
S. H.
Best education centre of its kind I've visited in Britain. Kids loved the different zones, especially my 8yo son. I was concerned I'd overpaid looking at the foyer and entrance but I soon realised this was going to be fun and informative. The young staff are great and help to maintain the sense of a journey. The time travel and programme means it was never overcrowded. We didn't use the cafe, it looked fairly standard.
J. C.
The Dynamic Earth experience is phenomenal. Its definitely worth investing in the annual pass though - so much is going on here that its a place worth visiting often. The staff are exceptionally friendly and it is refreshing not to feel ripped off by the cafeteria and gift shop. The prices are very reasonable.
J. B.
Dynamic Earth is worth a visit and as it is one of those rare visitor attractions that merit more than one visit, do ask about a membership deal.
Lots of interactivity and multi media exhibits. It is slightly let down by the cafe.
The grounds and setting are wonderful
G. W.
Really enjoyed my visit to this attraction even without the kids. Very informative and worth a visit. Could improve on restaurant seating but prices were good, especially if you have a family to feed.
A. D.
We took our two sons here will visiting Edinburgh from the United States. This is one of the better museums that I've been to anywhere. The exhibits have great range the kids, age 2 and 5 as well as both my wife and myself really enjoyed the exhibits.
A. T.
Although this place is meant for kids, I'd still recommend you spend couple of hours here. The technology used is a bit dated now, but otherwise the amount of information (specifically about the geographical history of Scotland) offered is vast. The tickets are a bit expensive, but you get a 10% off online. The movie we saw on Asteroids was nice as well.
Y. Z.
A very Informative museum, with lots of interesting exhibits. The facts are presented to you in a fun and child friendly way so it's a great stop wether you are traveling alone, as a group or with children.
T. W.
This is a fantastic day out and appeals to kids ĺarge and small. Will definitely be back soon 😁
M. c.
good soft play here 😊
N. C. (.
The main exhibit was an interactive experience which all the family will enjoy. Lots of knowledgeable members of staff and the show dome is not to be missed. Amazing for a day out.
M. H.
This is a wonderful place to visit! Thoroughly recommend. Interesting journey through time with special effects. Enjoyed the Apollo film in the Dome. Cafe does nice lunches too!
L. F.
This place is brilliant, such a great experience through out. We loved the rainforest ride, but most of all I love the staff, I've never been to anything which has had such friendly staff from as soon as you walk in the door to the cafe to the end of the tour so friendly, funny and nice, really go above and beyond I just love them, thank you so much it really makes the place so special.
A. R.
What a fantastic place to visit. A wonderful tour through history about the geology and prehistory of Edinburgh. Wonderful exhibit and very well done. I would recommend it for kids 5 and up and the whole family. Get early if you are driving to make use of the car park underneath or take public transport. There is a fantastic bus service which take some you there and it's right next to the parliament building and a hop and a skip from holyrood palace and Arthur Seat. Lots to do.
There is a canteen in the place and it's good food. Hot food, healthy options and a good selection for kids.
J. G.
Loved it there, nothing wrong, it was amazing!
M. X.
Umm it's pretty but I didn't want to pay the hefty entrance free. It's close to Parliament and Arthur's Seat so worth a look-see. Outside, there are interesting artwork and scientific displays. Large cafe and of course, free, clean toilets.
M. “. T.
Absolute must visit, especially if you have children in your party. A totally unexpected but very effective tour through the planet with role play and mock-environments. The cinematic show is of varied success though, don't feel like you'll be missing out if you have to skip it.
M. S.
A really enjoyable and engaging place for younger visitors, well planned and very well executed. As an adult there is plenty enough to see and do, the coffee shop is reasonable and the staff are polite, helpful and really interact with the children well.
C. F.
Firstly, believe it or not , regardless off the ages of your children. There's something for all ages and male and female. Including adults who are without children.
Although it's not the cheapest place to go in Edinburgh, you can spend the whole day here.
You can bring your own lunches and eat them in the canteen.
As much as dynamic earth is family friendly, there's loads to learn about different rocks, formation of land and how it all began, right back to the big bang.
I don't want to spoil it but you go in a time machine and get to see a real iceberg. There's a soft play for kids too.
The staff are all extremely friendly, keen and enthusiastic. I've been twice in the last 4 months and there's so much information, I learned just as much as my second visit.
K. M.
Fantastic attraction. I have been here several times now and it is amazing. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. There is so much to see and do here. I would recommend it to anyone with an interest in geography and earth. The gift shop is very reasonable too.
E. C.
Perfect spot for a day out that strikes the correct balance between a museum and an interactive and engaging tour for you.
We have been here a couple of times to enjoy the planetarium projection and also to have a walk in Holyrood park, just 50 metres away
S. S. R.
A very Beautiful, Interesting, modern view of our Planet Earth.. A must visit to keep the Kids engaged, full day will be less to visit all the corners. Will suggest everyone to definitely visit it. Worth the price paid.
I. O.
Such an amazing experience for the little ones and for grown ups as well! Everything is perfectly set and keeps the children permanently engaged. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Must see!
T. P.
My daughter and I, two adults, spent three hours here, really enjoyed it, didn't know what to expect, it was a lovely way to enjoy some time inside away from the rain! Friendly staff and informative.
C. X.
Me and my class friends went there. cost is affordable. One time is enough to go there.
M. P.
Great design, educational and good place for photos
C. H.
Great fun for kids 3 - 14! Very interactive and plenty of things to touch and watch.
Fairly wheelchair accessible although you can wait a long time for the lifts.
J. B.
Excellent!!! We travelled 3 hours to visit with 3 young kids and it didn't disappoint. Staff are well versed and extremely friendly. The tour is well managed, well organised and really knowledgeable. Overall great experience and would urge anyone to visit.
M. G.
Really enjoyed this my youngest who was 6 at the time was kept intrested while the older kids also loved it. Didnt feel too busy which was good and some stalls around the place where very informative. I would definitely recommend a visit.
S. C.
Staff amazing - helpful and enthusiastic. My family, including young nephew and niece loved it. Exhibits/rooms varied and engaging, though a couple starting to feel a bit old.
S. G.
Went there because the weather was too poor to walk around. A bit shocked by the entrance fee as we didn't know what to expect. Turned out: money well invested as we felt greatly entertained for most of the time. We left the ice age room after a few seconds as it reminded us too much at the present outside.
S. L.
Excellent place for a visit, very well done. Some folk report their kids getting scared, mine seemed fine. Pricey at £15, but for an annual at £29 it is good value.
J. L.
It's not cheap but it's worth the money. Interactive tour of our planet's history with a mix of guides, videos and displays. Kids loved it and learned a lot! They particularly loved the ice berg!
F. C.
Quality visit. Not been in years and was plenty of fresh exhibits. 2 twenty somethings had great fun! Funny staff and 'Amelia' was fascinating..
F. H.
Great place! I was with a school group from Belfast and they thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were fantastic - really friendly, and included them in every discussion. Would definitely recommend!
I. M.
Great place for a family day out. Interactive, informative and immersive as the design of the room is based on the ecosystem it represents. In the arctic region they have an iceberg which has unfortunately melted quite a lot over the years due to everyone touching it! Slightly overpriced compared with other Edinburgh activities in my opinion.
J. M.
A fantastically designed attraction. Practically everything is interactive which makes for an immersive and informative experience. Utterly brilliant. Would recommend for all ages and accessibility requirements.
J. J.
I spotted this just walking to Holyrood with my family, so it was a very pleasant surprise when I walked in. Dynamic Earth tells a very engaging, high tech story of the Earth starting at the big bang to today - I'm a way that even I could understand. A great place for a family to spend a few hours.
C. S.
I went there as part of a business conference but would highly recommend it to go and visit as it is bright and airy and has lots of things to look out and do - great for kids. There is also very nice cafe. I only marked it down one star because it is a tad on the pricey side.
F. A.
Nice experience for kids over 6 years
S. M.
Came here for work conference, nice venue, multi floor building with lift for those who cannot use stairs, with onsite parking. Can imagine it gets very warm in summer under the tent like structure.
A. S.
A place worth recommending, we were especially taken by the friendly staff of Miss Kasia in the Cafe :) Thank you very much for the delicious coffee!! Best regards!
C. C.
My husband and I went together. It was pretty awesome! Nice full experience, great way to spend a couple hours if you like science and there's a really nice gift shop.
C. M.
A great way to learn about the planet... it gives you a simulation of various biomes and the tour is very engaging. I loved the time travel concept and the 4D expedition flying from arctic and landing at the tropical rainforest! The experience was exhilarating!
J. I.
Fabulous ' dark side of the moon' show.
Really unusual take on an attraction with some stunning visuals.Truly a mind boggling and trance inducing spectacle. A must see for PF fans. Loved it. 😍
N. S.
Really good for children who are into who the earth works, with demonstrations of vulcanos and earthquakes. My five year old loves vulcanos but she got a bit scared. Anyway, good interactive experience, worth the price.
S. J.
Fantastic and educational. It presents natural history in a way which is engaging, exciting and understandable. I give it four stars because it can be a bit too much for young children. It's hard to know how they will react to the emersive style: being made to believe you are in an errupting volcano for example. And if your child freaks out you've essentially wasted a lot of money.
P. N.
Dynamic Earth experience amazing, can't fault it. But the restaurant really needs attention. It was busy so the turnover of food should have been fast. My husband went to order lunch when he came back to the table the food was stone cold. Well the macaroni cheese was warm but the chips were really cold. His chicken curry was full of chicken but very dry. Wish I had gone back to complain but I'm disabled and the placed was buzzing with children having lunch. I like hot food so was disappointed.
J. M.
Great place for kids and adults. Enthusiastic staff. Cafe great and reasonable. You can buy discounted tickets for dynamic earth if you do the open top bus tour.
M. M.
The Kids loved this, I thought the price didn't justify what's actually there. The place is nice and the staff were very friendly and helpful and even enthusiastic! I just struggled to see the value for money.
W. L. A.
It's a lovely and incredible place... unimaginable place...
S. Y. N. U.
Only for children is what I felt after visiting.
J. M.
We arrived an inittially were impressed by what we seen. The visual experience is amazing. However at over £50 for a family of 6 i was left wanting more for my money. Walking from stage to stage it felt like a school trip with a boring teacher. Lots to look at but not a lot to actually interact with. Much preffered the national museum - and thats free...
A. G.
Under a modern tent you'll find dinosaurs and ancient geology.
I've been many times - enjoyed computer games exhibits, listened to industry presentations for work, tucked into canapés and, once, looked at a history show.
I've always found the staff to be intelligent and pleasant. Food is often good (which is handy as there is no nearby alternative) but remains at conference level.
If I was holding a swanky business conference then I'd certainly consider Dynamic Earth. If the venue still performs any other role, I'm surprised, and would worry.
S. H.
A must visit when in Edinburgh and with perfect surroundings right next to Arthurs Seat. Interesting, interactive and done very well.
E. G.
I honestly can't praise this place enough. Just brilliant. We took our daughter, but ended up learning loads ourselves. The Big Bang time machine was a personal favourite.
N. H.
The recent improvement to the start of Dynamic Earth is a welcome change and find that the greater emphasis on Scottish scientists and thinkers is something that has long been missing. The first 4-rooms are very good and will keep people of all ages entertained. The standard drops off a bit as you head through some of the more static displays but the iceberg and 4-d flight must not be missed. If you want to get the full snow effect make sure you sit in the front or at the back. Those in the middle get missed. The Dome shows are also very impressive.
If you think you might go more than once over the course of a year, definitely get the annual pass as it is great value.
R. C. (.
Had a Fantastic Day out at Edinburgh.
A. V.
Perfect for families, lots of things to see and do. Staff is really enthusiastic. A lot of visuals and sounds which captures the attention way better than plain text on the walls.
D. Y.
Perfect day out for families, although not the cheapest Edinburgh day-out.
My nephew really enjoyed the Tropical Rainforest and I absolutely loved the glacier and Restless Earth feature (but I can see it could upset little ones with the earthquake simulation).
G. D. H.
Amazing place with a stupid canteen. Great exhibits and highly informative and good use of graphics.
BUT
This might sound petty. but when you take your children to an educational experience - why do you have to take a packed lunch? Whilst the guides aim to engage with guests (clients). The visitor experience is let down by the canteen (even during midweek termtime visit). No tap water, ( give them sugar laiden juices or nothing else without doing the " can I have some tap water please game", and also poorly laid out furniture is a very clumsy use of space. (a trip to the eden project would be great lesson)
L. H.
Really good though a confusing audience target. A little too in depth for young children in many places but then quite infantile in others. The staff were super cheerful and nice though.
E. H.
I have visited here regularly over the 14 years since it opened with children aged from 1 to 13 yrs and enjoyed each part of it. I looked forward to seeing which events of the last 14yrs would be included in the time machine. I was very disappointed to find it was replaced with an extremely fast trip through thousands of years and not a picture in sight for the little ones, grandchildren aged 11months, 3yrs and 6 yrs. They got nothing at all out of this section.
My 6yr old grandaughter showed me the 'rocks in the drawers' whiile my 3yr old grandson turned the wheel to show how mountains were made - that was all they saw of interest in the first section.
In the part where the planets were formed, the little one didn't like it at all and there was little for the 3 and 6yr olds to understand or look at.
Finally we reached the volcano section and there was something that they could see and that I could explain to them.
Please consider the younger visitors who are totally reliant on the visual parts for their understanding of the experience. I do hope you do not have plans to 'up-date' the other parts of this attraction which work well. The interactive 'tv' screen in the dinosaur part was not working which was also disappointing. The noise from above, perhaps the show dome, was very off putting as we looked around the hands on sections of the dinosaur part.
I did not enjoy my visit today nearly as much as previous visits.

Excellent entertainment for the kids - probably best for six year olds and above, but it's interesting for adults too. Perhaps it palls after the 5th or 6th visit! Cafe only OK. Parking expensive, but it is central Edinburgh.
C. T.
Excellent couple of hours learning about the creation of Planet Earth. Particularly enjoyed the film on geology and glaciers with stunning "helicoptor ride" through the Scottish Highlands. Highly recommended!😊
M. M.
Good place for family visit. Some tips: pre book tickets- it's cheaper, on the 3d movie take the raw 2nd , 3rd and 4th. But when u on the last movie, the round screen on the roof, for sure site in the last raw, best place to see the movie.
E. C. H.
This is an awesome experience for anyone interested in science. It's an immersive experience that starts with a "time machine" that hurls you into the past. From there, you step through various stages of the Earth's evolution.
It might require a bit of an imagination to place yourself in the situations they ask you to, but hey, how can you have fun without some imagination.
Some of the exhibits are a bit dated, specifically the computer animations you are shown at various stages. Obviously they haven't been updated since the place was built, which is a shame.
Again, it's a good place for those who like science. There was a school group going through when we went, which is probably common during the school year, so be prepared to share a noisy room.
D. A.
Attraction excellent. Coffee shop very poor.
Who gives out little pots of uht milk for a 3 pound coffee in the 21st century.
Felt really let down by this stupid mistake.
How hard is it to buy a jug and put fresh milk in it?
G. R.
Nice exhibition if you have the time and patience. Some of the exhibits are (technologically) a little aged. Your kids should be able to read to get the most out of it.
K. (.
We paid for a Fast Track ticket via the Edinburgh Tour Bus, however we ended up waiting almost 20 mins with only 2 people in front of us to get in. Whats the point of having a fast track queue if the normal queue actually goes faster?
Graphics and technology are good and it is well organised but if you go as adults without children in tow, it can be a touch cheesy and patronising in places. Its more for school parties and families tbh.
J. B.
Wonderful interactive learning experience, we took our very curious 6 year old boy and he loved it. Make sure you make the most of each zone as you can't easily go back once you've move to the next.
A. S.
Visited for IT in the Park and an extremely well run corporate event. Good sized conference rooms, great AV and decent grub. Well situated to the Royal Mile and hotels.
B. S.
Really good day out bit educational for younger kids, especially the film in the dome. The price of a yearly pass has shot up as well, would have got 5 stars if it wasn't for this.
W. A.
Informative, bit too much for kids. Food not bad. Halal chicken was welcome surprise. Overall very good visit. Parking is pretty cheap, ! £3 for 3 hrs.
U. R.
You will love it: the entrance fee is not so much and you'll get a great show and knowledge in an interactive event since the birth of our universe. But beware, there is only English spoken and written in this fabolous interactive exhebition with many multimedicals parts. Dynamic Earth is great for school kids but for adults too, who wants to see the history of our earth in the past and today. You have several stations where you walk trough, the tour takes about 2 hours, the highlight ist the show at the sky-dome at the end of the tour with changing movies. Parking is not so expensive and you can stay there for only 3 GBP for the first 3 hours at the park car direct at the Dynamic Earth
J. D.
This was an amazing experience!! I had so much fun and found it very interesting! No matter your age I recommend that you should come!! I definitely will come back here!!
D. M.
While I can't deny that Dynamic Earth was interesting, I can't help but feel a little bit disappointed by it. I took my 12 year old sister, who I think was maybe just a little bit too old and didn't enjoy it, but at the same time I'm not sure if younger children would understand the exhibits. Hmm, overall I'm undecided about it, but probably won't be back.
j. m.
Second visit, brought my youngest this time (7). He loved it especially as it was midterm and there was an exhibition of gems and stones to see.
D. M.
Geology rocks and brilliant for all interested in science
S.
Definitely very underrated - really fun to visit, even for adults. A very high tech museum, and the Apollo film is outstanding.
D. P.
I had initially thought it was more for kids based on the pictures and videos on their website, but it was a fantastic place for everyone to enjoy and learn, including my parents who are over 60yrs of age!
S. R.
Tickets seem expensive but they are well worth it. Great experience for a rainy day. Helps to make concepts simpler to understand with the great special effects. A brilliant day out.
B.
Very cool place. A bit pricy but you don't go there every weekend. Once in a blue moon you may get a pass for a year for a price of a single entry:)
M. j.
My Husband and i bought an Edinburgh Pass for £26 and took advantage of it, we went to Hollyrod Palace and parked the car at the back beside the mountains, we then walked to Dynamic Earth and i loved it, the 4D showing was great, How 3D AND 4 D has moved on since i last saw anything like that, I even jumped back in my chair. lol then we had a guided tour of how things were in the world before man, i loved the rain forest and we also got 20% off in the gift shop, it's well worth a trip there. 10/10
V. W.
Didn't know what to expect. My son loved it. Very kids friendly and very educational in a fun way. Staff were wonderful.
D. C.
Fantastic- kids loved it and so did I. Mix of interactive and static displays plus a good narrative round from start. Great interaction and guide from friendly staff too.
B. D.
Wonderful experience for young and old. The Showdome is definitely the main attraction and shows will have you laughing about making methane for hours afterwards.
C. “.
Great place to take kids with plenty of interactive activities to do. Staff were friendly. Restaurant was small and crowded but reasonably priced.
F. K.
Fascinating, inspiring, educating, entertaining for adults and children alike. Staff friendly and helpful. Good food café. Don't miss it if you are in Edinburgh!
D. P.
Great concept with visitors traveling back in time to witness the evolution of earth. The interactive rides we great fun and the whole family enjoyed the day.
K. W.
What a fantastic place to take your kids while you're in Edinburgh! Really informative and entertaining, the staff were fantastic hand really went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed ourselves.
J. W.
Visited in the summer holidays and it's great for kids, well run and very interesting and interactive. Lovely outdoor area for picnics too.
J. B.
Wonderful place, Nice people. Only thing I regret is the time pressure of the people for all the exhibits. But It was very interesting and unusual. Perfect for children
J. S.
Staff were all fabulous. Great place to visit!!
S. S.
Cool way to spend an afternoon.
Hands on exhibits and several movies.
Very good place to bring younger kids, they will love it.
N. C.
Incredible exhibits. Friendly staff. Good coffee.
A. F.
Absolutely fantastic we were there all day. So much to see and do.
T. 2.
The stressball Is overpriced.£7.50 for a stressball!!!!it was good overall the place.
C. P.
Ordinarily, you would think that time travel was only possible if you had the keys to the DeLorean. Think again. If you visit Dynamic Earth you will be taken on a journey that starts as far back as the beginning of time.
You’ll experience earthquakes, rainforests and icebergs, all as you make your way through Dynamic Earth. The interactive is cleverly combined with the informative, making this a great day out for both children and adults alike.
The grand finale – complete with a ceiling mounted screen and game show style swirling black chairs – ties the whole experience together. Dynamic Earth really does make learning fun, and what could be better than that?
G. M.
It's an ok place to visit with nice info on earth through history, from the big bang till today. Overpriced though, £15 for this sort of self guided tour and a poorly maintained softplay....
M. L.
Great fun, educational, but enjoyable too. Not advertised enough. We found it by chance looking through internet. Great for Older kids .
F. M.
Excellent day out for all the family, staff all very friendly and knowledgeable
R. W.
It is very good idea to pay for a year pass, as it will cost you the price of 2 tickets . Good for a day out with older children 6-7+
M. S.
Our favourite place to go. It's brilliant, very educational and the year pass is perfect for us! I recommend it to families when the weather is not so good.
J. M.
As two adults, we had a great time. Not sure I'd go back, but I'd definitely go at least once. Very well put together.
T. G.
Great place was my 1st time here and was impressed. The big ice block was a hit with the kids. My youngest was disappointed as there wasn't much on the dinosaur side of things.
K. O. B.
This place was amazing. It will be worth to go if you like science.
M. P.
Kids loved every minute of it. Food very expensive. Not something you could do all day but good for keeping the kids entertained for a couple of hours
a. a.
It is so beautiful and interesting for a family visit. The location is absolutely amazing and the design of the museum is very modern and inspiring.
K.
What an experience traveling from room to room learning, watching & interacting. This place was perfect for my 7 & 9 year old, they loved every minute.

Absolutely fantastic experience. Will bring grandkids 10 and8 . They will learn 5 years geo in 5 hours. Brilliant and highly recommended.
J. S.
Frustratingly, they don't tell you the amazing story of how Arthur St erupted 350 millions of years ago when it was at the equator, or how it inspired Hutton, the worlds first ever Geologist (and how he had to get an Act passed in Parliment to prevent it being quarried for the streets of London).
R. L.
Usually go as a family, this time I was accompanying a school trip. This was great as there was an extra workshop which was very engaging for the kids and really interesting.
g. s.
Very enjoyable day out with plenty for the kids to see and do.
V. K.
Went with my kids who really enjoyed learning about the earth through the excellent 4D experiential displays. Must visit if you are in Edinburgh!

They liked it
The food was good, the restroom clean.

Loved this place. Great interactive exhibits for kids... and big kids 😊 Well worth a visit and a few return visits too
J. P.
It was boring at times, for example the 4D ride showed barley any aspects of a 4D experience other than the 3D. However the other activities were quite informative.
l. M.
First time i have ever been. Kids went with schools etc. Thoroughly enjoyable i loved the iceberg and the volcano was amazing too
J. K.
Veru modern and interactive exposition of the living Earth, with motivated staff and even with excellent gift shop. Recommended to families, schools, and to all science nerds.
R. K.
Visited Dynamic Earth with my daughters aged 10 and 7. We all loved it and the 4D film was a real hit with the kids, especially with my 10 year old.
P. R.
The exhibits and the dome theatre experience is good. You could cover all in about 2 hours - so it is a bit pricey.
R. G.
I've been here three times (to host large scale events) and it's a great venue, in a grand setting.
The venue staff are very organised and helpful.
