Reviews of George Square
m. a.
It’s the headquarters of the city council where it held in the city center and well known as the place where people celebrate and gather to protest and chill sometimes when the sun is up. So many statues and monuments for Robert Burns, James Watt, Sir Robert Peel and Sir Waiter Scott. Spectacular and memorable place to visit and spend some good time in the site
C. R.
Not the usual hustle and bustle of the Christmas Markets with all the ongoing Covid situation.
But was nice to take the kids, they seemed to enjoy themselves and it was pretty impressive when it was lit up at night time.
Hopefully next year will bring back the markets and the fair ground attractions for the children
A. N.
Not bad but not too much for tourist, though there isn’t much to do but looking at the statues and the beautiful building around the square makes it a worthwhile place to rest. There are numerous monuments in the square to some of the great statesmen associated with the town so if you are a history buff then this place should be on your lists😀
M. C.
A beautiful, yet classic tourist area of Glasgow City. Blessed with gorgeous autumnal weather this particular day, the George Square was stunning - buzzing with "the people who make Glasgow". Situated amongst the stately architecture of City Hall, was a lovely open garden area marked with notable statues of honoured historical people. The bars and restaurant scene is as vast as this underrated great city - well worth a visit whilst in splendid Scotland.
R. O.
We tagged along to a walking tour with the wonderful Ian from walking tours, and the experience went from ‘pretty nice’ to ‘Wow!’.
Learned so much about the history and development of Glasgow through the descriptions and renditions of history via the statues in the square. We then continued on for a while to learn more about surrounding buildings and historical figures.
Get a guide, download a walking tour, or just a little brochure if you can and the experience will be much more than just a nice square!
P. B.
It's an iconic square and monument of Europe and UK, in the city of Glasgow. This is my first time hear and I'm sad, when we read about this city in hour history books it's all about the industrial revolution of the modern world, but now I see a remnants of bygone era of once one of the most important city of the world.
K. F.
In winter, especially holiday time, this place is very impressive and so beautifully decorated with Christmas lights, enlarged in size Christmas objects eg walk in Xmas tree bulb, beautiful.
I will post more updated photos of summer view later.
U. D.
A very lovely historic place. People and council must make sure the safety and care of these place. Everyone must be considerate about keep the places clean
B. B.
When the sun is shining it's a nice place to sit and have some lunch. Has a few monuments of famous people like Robert Burns and Sir Walter Scott. Some lovely old buildings surround the square. If your fortunate you may see a movie being filmed here. Recently The Flash, Batgirl and the latest Indiana Jones movie have been filmed here.
S. C.
George Square is a serene place to visit on a normal day but with the Christmas fair currently ongoing, it not made me want to visit but also want to remain there. The rides are all fun and exciting.
M. H.
A really nice square with a range of statues and stunning sites. There was a beautiful remembrance memorial on the square. There is also a nice statue with a cone positioned on its head which seems to be a common trend for Glasgow statues.
B. G. S.
Came here with our family in order to experience the ice skating rink… fantastic! Available in Christmas time. The square is well served with cafes and restaurants, if tired you can take some time in Costa Coffee
M. V.
I miss London City! George square is a nice and busy place for Londoners. But it's nice to just sit there and watch people pass by
L. S.
I love Glasgow. Amazing murals on the side of sandstone buildings and of course the home town of the big man Billy Connolly. Braehead snow zone and climbing walls. Lots of museums and amazing architecture. The gothic style attracting film directors to shoot movies...most recent Bat Girl as in pictures from Jan 2022. It is my home town so I may be bias but there are so many beautiful places to visit, historical buildings, pubs and restaurants filled with friendly people 💕 People make Glasgow 💕
T. M.
Lovely square, with loads of fun for every element of the family during christmas time.
The currywurst is brilliant, one of the best outside Germany
G. B.

Loads to see, do and eat, great atmosphere!

The most popular spot in Glasgow City. Always buzzing and feels so lively!! Currently it's getting ready for the big day to look at its best for Christmas. 😊 …
G. W.
Excellent museum. We spent an afternoon here while we were waiting for our check in time at the hotel where we were staying and we're concerned we'd struggle to find enough to keep us entertained. How wrong we were! Along with the tall ship outside it's easily possible to spend hours here l. Would definitely recommend to any visitor.
S. S.

George Square is the principal civic square in the city of Glasgow, Scotland. It is one of six squares in the city centre, the others being Cathedral Square, St Andrew's Square, St Enoch Square, Royal Exchange Square, and Blythswood Square on Blythswood Hill..

The Christmas market here was really good! Lots of food stalls to try. Also the ice rink to go scate on!
V. D.
great Christmas market with lots of food stalls and fun rides ✨💫 …
P. S.
Looks nice, but there's a problem with people feeding pidgeons, so at times there are loads of them, which can be unsettling when someone scares them.
J.

Took a walk through George Square, Glasgow today. Very festive and lively. The usual Xmas attractions. Ice rink, big wheel and various other fairground attractions. Plenty of stalls to get something to eat. The magnificent City Chambers take up one side of George Square. There are free guided tours of the building a couple of times a day. Nice area, good for relaxing and take good pictures
B. M.
Beautiful buildings all around the square
H. L.
Great place to relax and people watch. There are several statues and monuments in the square. It's right beside the Queen Street train station, so the square is a convenient place to wait for a train.
A. W.
Big square in the city and has many restaurants and oulets
A. B. (. B.
Wonderful place to visit at Christmas time. Beautiful lit up with Christmas lights.
K. M.
George square has seen better days I would love to se the council put some investment into this place. I was in Glasgow when the Scotland v Croatia game was on and it would have been a great idea to have a big screen up and some pop up street food and bars pop up to mark the occasion. There was nothing going on apart from some drunk teenagers and police vans parked up in case of any trouble but luckily there wasn’t.
On the plus side there is a Wetherspoons where you can sit outside when the weather is nice and we had a lovely Greek meal at a restaurant next to Wetherspoons. Lots of statues to look at although they could do with some maintenance.
I hope to see some improvements the next time I’m in Glasgow.
M. G.
The heart of Glasgow in some respects. Worth sitting on one of the benches and watch the diversity of the city pass by. Also the place where the hop-on hop-off bus tour starts and ends - I can also highly recommend that tour - also great value.
E. I.
Interesting place to hangout with family and friends at Christmas, lots of funfair and merry making
G. M.
Great atmosphere in the centre of the city. Excellent for the kids, and has an ice rink as well.
C. F.
Had a lovely time. Lots of food and sugary goodness. Rides for the kids and families to enjoy. The ice skating was a little expensive but it was fun.
C. N.
Beautiful Christmas decorations and lively celebration mood..on Christmas Eve...
P. K.
Took a trip through the square whilst shopping in town, did some browsing among some of the stalls, quite a few where still closed although it was after 11:00am.Everything was quite expensive and I wouldn’t say very good value for money.Nice festive feel around the place, nice Swiss style chalets and would probably have a better atmosphere later in the day when the lights could be appreciated.
J. C.
Really lovely place with all sorts of activities throughout the year. From taking in the sun during the summer to ice skating during the Christmas fair. It just feels very central to Glasgow.
D. P.

Had a fantastic time in the city Chambers...
Stunning building
S.
I love it. It is huge and picturesque surrounded by huge classic buildings.
You can just come and sit on one f the bench while feeding birds.
L. R.
Unbearably busy. Couldn't get close enough to stalls to see what they had. Massive queues for all the rides. Lights looked good but can see them better from the city chambers side. This was about 5:30 pm on a Saturday.
C. F.
The Xmas market was ok there, how good? I didn't buy anything.
G. M.
Very nice and Christmas Market very busy.
P. I.
Famous square in the city.. must to go.. specially in the evening so you can see beauty in day-light as well as beautiful lightning later which covers the square and surrounding buildings.
s. m.
It’s a historical place, people go there for spending their free time or maybe they give time to themselves. there has a lot of pigeons, I used to like to feed them. it gives me mental strength anyway. if you live in Glasgow then I suggested going there with some grains for birds.
it is an overwhelming feeling ever.
F. B.
George Square looking and feeling great for the festive period, exceptionally busy when there on Sunday, worth a visit, keep young ones close by, due to the large crowds.
R. A.
One of my favourite spots especially at night, so elegant so charming.. I ride bike in circles there lol full of statues of great men and women throughout history and in Christmas, you will definitely enjoy Christmas markets there.. City Chambers building is really magnificent

R. W.
Nice for photos ... Christmas funfair and happy people. Traditional Christmas food fare too in the heart of the city.

Great central space in the city. I’ve found it’s an interesting space to begin chatting with people if you’re not from the area, Scots are super friendly anyway. lots of pubs near by for when you get thirsty.
P. L.
Very busy with stalls and the funfair.
Go have a wander about and soak up the atmosphere.
You'll love it.
U. D.
One of the landmarks of Glasgow and the most famous spot in city. Located close to main buildings and high street shops.
Great place to have break and relax.
P. J.
Amazing Christmas market.
n. a.
Went to the xmas market was over price but the kids did love it would recommend with caution as ride and food will cost a lot
F. K.
Xmas Lights at George Square, Glasgow. Nice to see that they have put up new lights this year. They look lovely. There's also a Xmas Market. Opens back up on Boxing Day. The Big Wheel looks great. Costs £6 to go on Big Wheel.
R. B.
Very expensive and extremely busy at the weekend, they charge you full price for a baby to go on the rides even when she was sat on my knee - besides adult issues - the kids had a great time!
M. H.
George Square, its the city place for some tranquility. Its the city spot to demonstrate and preach democracy. Its the city spot for Christmas. It is a special place for the people of Glasgow. Its nice, not quite but can be a calming spot.
m.
Always great to be in George Square around festive time of the year with the carnival like atmosphere. There's fairground rides, a ferris wheel, lots of food & gift stalls. The statues here are still visible and protected with barriers.
U. C.
We had a beautiful experience and bonding time with the family. The rides at the Christmas fair are quite expensive though.
A. G.
Lovely place to relax and enjoy the busy atmosphere here. It’s always a tourist spot or busy with special events. There are many monuments and the architecture around this square is so beautiful with intricate pieces details.
J. A.
This is the heart of Glasgow city which is such a beautiful place to be around.
I was there during November and in during the day time the park was busy, I can only imagine in the summer time how nice it would be.
The atmosphere is great with lots of tourists visiting.
There are tour busses operating from there which goes right around the city's main attractions.
Since you're right in the middle of the city, all the shops are a walk away; which is great.
R. T.
Iconic square in central Glasgow surrounded by the City Chambers, restaurants and stores. The square is home to statues and monuments celebrating notaries such as Robert Burns, James Watt, Sir Robert Peel and Sir Walter Scott. Great buzz around this area and always worth the visit. Queen St rail station faces onto the square so no excuses for not dropping in!
C. P.
A must see sightseeing in Glasgow! George square is a very beautiful place with plenty of food and drink options around.
A. S.
The square for visit when in Glasgow. In the middle of Glasgow city center, very old authentic architecture. Nice to sit and relax or watch the city. Beautiful photos can be taken here. Well recommended. Shops, bars and restaurants all in walking proximity.
M. F.
It's a lovely place to visit, there isn't much to do but look at the statues and the the beautiful buildings around and in the square. I thought it was particularly clean in spite of all the people visiting at the moment
a. v.
The main Square in Glaskow that is surrounded with 12 statues of kings and philosophers. In the eastern side is the war memorial and the city hall. The big problem are the pigeons which dominates the entire square and make all the statues and the place dirty and unhealthy.
I.
The heart of Glasgow. This is where major events take place, like European Championship 208 and annual Santa Dash, Must visit when in town. Beautifully decorated at Christmas time.
e. w.
Typical large city. Stores cafes and people. I like Edinburgh better

A. M.
Xmas Market time again!!🤩 …
B. L.
Vibration area of Glasgow with restaurants galore and options for drinks, coffee, food choices of all kinds. Plenty that have lobster and steaks were available. Pretty green center to walk or rest as well. Right in town with nice shopping all around. Safe to walk
A.
I love this place with its red floor, flowers and sculptures. I love the two lions the most. I used to spend some time there. There is a free information centre there with free stuff like maps of the city, sightseeing brochures and helping desks.
I like to sit on benches and watch the surroundings. It’s very near to the students’ union.
There is a restaurant which serves “haggis” there! If you don’t know what it is, don’t search for it. I ate it several times and adored it until I wanted to know its ingredients! I wish I didn’t! Though, I can’t stop eating it even if I lose a soul!
I still keep my 15-year old photos of this place!
D. M.
Excellent to see all the Xmas Market and skating back. Usual Xmas Market you pay plenty
M. T. D.
A big huge public square way a few benches and hunners o pigeons and the odd jakey staggering by, great place to watch the world and enjoy a cup of tea fae Gregs

Beautiful historic place in the town centre. Aldo seats are available, so I was able to feed my baby.
T. j. S.
A nice place to visit mostly at the time of Christmas and in evening with all beautiful lights

Disappointed at the lack of stalls. Great if you want a fun fair. Very busy.
E. I.
It is a good place for having friends and making small talks over. Usually couples and frienda uses this place to meet up with other people.and during the summer time it gets even better, everybody lays onto the garden over the grass and relaxes. Near that there is weather spoon good for pints and beers.

Great city but unfortunately we got to see it during very bad weather.
L.
Great public place, you can meet all sorts of people. Fantastic interactions and close to local shops, restaurants, cafes and more.
It's the place to be during good weather.

No big wheel or roundabouts due to Covid, but lights were good.

George Square is a famous tourist spot in Glasgow City, Scotland . George Square is the main central location in Glasgow from where one can get tourist buses like hop and off bus. Start your visit in Glasgow from George Square. It has monument and statues of famous notable people of Glasgow. James watt statue can be found here. Unit of power 'watt' is named after James Watt a Scottish innovator and Mechanical engineer.
S. M.
Glasgow's vibrant heart, where Christmas market and other gathering made for Scotland independent. In the city centre, walking distance to train stations, Buchanan Street, Buchanan galleries, bus station, Glasgow Caledonian and Strathclyde universities.Do not forget the city council, the biggest building in front of you.
J. C.
A great place to sit and watch the world go by 👀
Takes all kinds of people to make a world and George Square is definitely very diverse.
Brilliant architecture and some good laughs 🤣🤣 loved watching the youngsters playing football on Saturday night enjoying the kick about in the evening sunshine 🌞

Sat in the square today, sad occasion for all of the uk. Found sitting in the sun surrounded by like minded folks, brilliant- god bless the royal family at this sad time, its been a privilege to have lived under her majesty. George Square is a good community place. Enjoy

Large square in the city center with shops and restaurants all around. You can catch a bus to anywhere from George Square. Great place to relax and people watch.
C. O.
The square of 12 statues. This place is simply beautiful. Great meeting point do groups. A few seating benches to ease off and look around...
P. W.
Very interesting square full of statues and lovely old buildings, very similar to Brussels I think. However the surrounding restaurants are expensive and we found Glasgow dirty and sad looking -
A. B. (.
We were dropped off here by the bus and had a few hours to wander around. We were dropped off by the modernised Train station in the centre of Glasgow town. My initial thoughts of Glasgow have been massively changed by my visit to Glasgow. It's such a vibrant city with everything you can possibly need. We walked around the square and noticed the floral tributes to Our queen so we went to view them. There a police man invited people to go into the Civic centre to sign the book of condolences, which made my mum extremely happy, as she was going to miss the book in her home town. After signing we went to eat at the Greek restaurant next door to the Wetherspoons pub, because the pub was rammed to the rafters with students buying cheap booze. We had a wonderful Greek salad and chips and a nice glass of red wine. The whole experience of the centre from the rather savoury east end of the area that we were advised to stay away from in the dark to the more affluent West End area well known for its high classed expensive houses. I would definitely visit here again.
L. L.
Great visit at Christmas
M. R.
It's a square formed into the shape of a square. It's quite nice really but I do wish that those naughty and mischievous Glaswegians would give the Duke of Wellington a day off work.
B. A.
Scotland's half marathon started from here on Sunday. The atmosphere was electric. Great to be around this area of Glasgow......surrounded by beautiful buildings.
F. A.
My first time in Glasgow and I absolutely loved it! Would totally recommend coming to George Square. Super lively, lots of stores and great history
i. p.
Very good Christmas fair in December
R. C.
A huge gathering of flowers and memorials for Queen Elizabeth. We went into the City Council building and signed the book of Rememberance for the Queen as well. The inside of the building was awesome!!!!
B.
Beautiful place to sit and see the crowed of glasgow move like a river. But it is an amazing sigh on Christmas and new years eve with all the great stalls and lights and everything.
S. K.

Its a great spot for people to enjoy the sun.
Its good to just people watch and see a diverse range of people enjoying themselves. The sun brings everybody out ☀️
And sitting there remembering Kevin Bridges walking along past the park, to his gig for the xmas dvd 😂😂😂 (He prob didnt walk all the way to his gig, he prob just got filmed doing that stretch along past George Square 😄😄)

This is the social hub of Glasgow with people from every walk of life congregating on a sunny day. Saint George, since he is English, is permanently adorned with headwear suited to his nationality. Whenever it is removed it magically is reinstalled the very next night. Thus the exasperated local government has yielded to the Sassennach's fashion statement as more than a passing fad. English tourists--though they might try to disguise themselves as locals--are soon sniffed out. Like a good old-fashioned witch-hunt, they receive hats to match their sainted patron. The square is in need of some general maintenance. Many benches need refinishing. There is an issue with some of the less conscientious citizens dropping trash when a bin is in arm's reach.

Lovely in the summer to sit and chill out for a bit. But Christmas time at George Square is always my favourite. Can be busy at this time but was very fortunate on the 23rd to have it reasonably quiet 😍 …
M. R.
What a fantastic place. Plenty to see here and lots of activities year round. It really is so well used and great for meeting up and seeing the beautiful City center from. Glasgow Queen Street train station leads out to George Square too so if you are travelling from Edinburgh you are met with a lovely space and not too far to walk across to central either.
It's Christmas time at the writing of this review and the decorations and stalls this year are perfect. Have a wonder round at night and see the lights.
A. C.
The George Square was where the Glasgow Christmas Market was, where there were several food options and activities to do there such as a ferris wheel and a slide for the younger ones. The memorial at George Square is definitely also worth a visit.
L. S.
Plenty of taxis in the square.
Always a great place to visit. Tea rooms wine bars, restaurants all around the square.
D. C.
Was at George Square for mini fun run my grandson was in it he did so well I just love Glasgow and the square is a big part of Glasgow great place to visit
🏴😁 …
J. K. K.
Plz don’t feed birds.
Christmas lights are awesome. My friend missed ice links.
C. M.
The place was excellent loved all the light's they were fantastic and the market's were amazing I didn't by any thing
p.
Christmas fair/market was not open. Costa coffee was the worst I have ever had and, staff couldn't care less attitude.
S. P.
Nice place centrally located opposite Queens Street Station Glasgow.Hop on hop off starts right from there and ends too.Places to stay nearby, hotels college nearby.
S. G.
I've lived in Glasgow for years but only recently went on the open top sightseeing bus tour at the request of my 4 year old. George Square is such a beautiful space and if you take the time to walk around and look at all the statues, it's very interesting. I also find it quite a peaceful place in the middle of the city, sometimes it's nice to just find a bench to sit on and watch the world go by.
P. J. A. C.
Nice square which lots of people use as meeting point.
Lots of birds make it special for when they all fly at the same time give the square quite the view.
M. D.
Fun markets for christmas with cool entertainment great for kids!
C. G.
Pleasant enough. Never seen such fat lazy pigeons. They flew as little as possible with no fear of people.
d. h.
Great during Christmas times not far from both train stations but Queen Street is next to George square
S. Q.
Managed to catch the end of the Glasgow Festival parade, full of colour, lively music and basically a mini beer festival. Lots of history and some beautiful architecture in the heart of Glasgow.
T. L.
Beautiful square! A lot of incredible architecture and there are plenty of shops and places to eat.
M. A.
In the area for Christmas fair in 2019. Great time. Saw a parade and enjoyed good food and drink.
T. S.
Nice place to sit and relax in city centre, lots of shops nearby but a star off for Lack of public toilets nearby, if you want the loo you will need to go into one of the local businesses and ask to use the toilet, this should be ok with the majority of them.
A. D.
Lights amazing ice rink and rides are great but only downside are the prices.
A. S.
This is an amazing place where all the events takes place and you can spend some quality time in heart of city centre among pigeons !! Get some rice grains to feed pigeons, and u will be flocked by them in numbers !!
T. O.
Glasgow Christmas markets 2 for the price of 1 Great friendly city and people visited many times .Don't get me wrong has it's problems but what city has not got them
G. W.
Superb place ...awesome weather ....it's been four years but memories never fade away...loved the place must visit
S. K.
The Christmas market enhances the beauty of George Square during Christmas. Loads of stalls, food corners and rides to enjoy. The view from the ferris wheel was incredible. Would definitely recommend to spend an evening there during Christmas.
A. B.
Nice square to visit! Nothing really spectacular, there is SO much more to see, I wouldn't spend a lot of time here!
H. B.
We were away for the new year, we had an amazing weekend
B. K.
Magnificent looking park.
M. R.
It was okay. Not much to do. Although there are some nice restaurants around the area. The whole city has a lack of drains, so there are puddles everywhere when it rains.
M. M.
George Square (Scottish Gaelic: Ceàrnag Sheòrais) is the principal civic square in the city of Glasgow, Scotland. It is one of six squares in the city centre, the others being Cathedral Square, St Andrew's Square, St Enoch Square, Royal Exchange Square, and Blythswood Square on Blythswood Hill.
Named after King George III and initially laid out in 1781 but not developed for another twenty years, George Square is surrounded by architecturally important buildings including on the east side the palatial Municipal Chambers, also known as the City Chambers, whose foundation stone was laid in 1883, and on the west side by the Merchants' House [de].[1][2] Built by Glasgow Corporation, the Chambers are the continuing headquarters of Glasgow City Council. Joseph Swan's panoramic engraving of 1829 shows the early development of the square and its surrounding buildings.[3

George square was area full of political activity yesterday. With main event organised by all under one BANNER Social Distancing and all Covid safety Protocols were observed. The day was a complete success and enjoyable time was had by all.
A. A.
Great day out, brilliant shopping, friendly people, always something to catch your eye,
(God's country),
P. M.
Needs some work, but this is my home and will never tire of the city Chambers. Beautiful building.
R. P.
It isn't really a go to place, it could be a lot nicer considering the location.
It is now being used for different events, such as the Christmas markets. This isn't all year round, they could be done better, but worth passing through if you are up the town.
Theres a few nice statues. A good place to see city chambers too.
A. D.
Really lovely square with various statues and memorials. Decorated for Christmas currently, which is fun. I found the war memorial especially touching.
S. M.
It's a nice area to enjoy lovely weather. There are decent amount of benches to sit on and few trees to sit under. It's surrounded by restaurants, pubs and the metro station is quite close.
r. d.
Very nice tourist spot in the center of town where you can sit, relax and have a chit chat with friends.
R. M.
Visited the Christmas market here. As markets go, it was both crowded and expensive. Churros for £6, christmas tree decs for £12, not designed for those having to watch their pennies. The rain stayed off which was good. As darkness fell and you got the full impact of the lights, the buzz and atmosphere was actually really nice. George square rarely disappoints but you dont expect much from a square of concrete in the middle of a busy city.
A. S.
We visited the Christmas market here and it was nicely organised with a lot of great shops!
A. A. M.
Nice little spot at the centre of Glasgow. Has plenty of restaurants and coffee shops nearby.
Y. K.
Square of many statues. Nice meeting place but not much green areas to sit or walk around.
P. T.
Beautiful busy place very poor parking especially for coaches - got a parking ticket!!
J. M.
A very atmospheric space to enjoy in the heart of the city with plenty of green and open spaces. Could do with a little TLC but on the whole pretty clean
R. A.
In the city centre, a wonderful piece of architecture, and its amazing during Christmas.
V. O.
Nice place . Great structures. Queen Street Station. Council House Merchant chamber
H. K.
I am biased, I will give it a 5 star although I admit it is not the best square in scotland. To me George Square is Glasgow, and Glasgow is the centre of the wotld 😁 …
R. L.
Just walked through town and came upon George Square very well maintained and so amazing statues
C. T.
A good place to start your tour of Glasgow, The large town hall stands proud looking over the square, a main shopping street is just behind with some fantastic restaurants and shops, plenty of sights and sounds as you move around George Square.
J. f.
We liked the German type bar. The live singing was good.
C. S.
Nice outdoor area in the centre of Glasgow. Plenty of benches. Near to busy shopping area plenty of Bars and restaurants near by and Train station. Bus for Airport stops in the square.
B. B.
Very nice square in the centre of one of Scotland's most dynamic cities. Lots of interesting architecture and statues and of course, a number of great pubs close by, including a Wetherspoons.
S. N.
THE City Centre! Even street numbers start from here!!
Council Chambers, statues & monuments, benches & coffee shops for people-watching.
I ventured in & around the Square several times during my time in Glasgow.

N. O. B. C.
Beautiful square and a great place where you may spend a day sitting.
M. C.
Great statues and history surrounding the square. I was there during an event for Scottish power, and got free ice cream. Would recommend going again when there are no blow up structures obscuring the square.
H. U. A.
Great place to relax and take pictures at Glasgow city center.
C. W.
Iconic part of Glasgow. Xmas market and fair worth a visit. Can be really busy at times though!!
D. R.
Great Xmas market and fun for the kids on the ice rink and fun rides.
D. D.
Poor show this year for Christmas, lacking in atmosphere. Looked pretty in photos though.

s. r.
Picturesque city square, when we visited, the Christmas decorations were being put up. A short walk from the main shopping area, worth a visit as there is something always going on.
Just up the road is a mural on the side of one the buildings, part of the Glasgow art trail which also takes in the murals of Billy Connelly done for his birthday.
T. M.
Great chill spot. Beautiful buildings. The occasional activity set up on the square
R. G. (.

Very colourful & festive just lifted the spirits in these trying times not busy and everyone was very respectful of social distancing
F. B.
George Square during the holiday season is a really nice place!
In recent years it started to look outdated and run down but this year (2018) onwards it appears that they have really stepped it up with the quality of entertainment and visual spectacle being given.
a. k.
Beautiful.
P. W.
It is a magnificent city centrepiece. There are restaurants and cafes galore. Glasgow deserves a gold star.

George square in December, plenty to do.
Live bands and plenty to eat and drink. Pretty busy
A. A.
The open air hop on hop off bus for tourists and sightseers starts from here. The impressive Georgian structures all around are amazing. There is a history in every building you see in this place.
S. r.
George Square, Christmas lights, big wheel and stalls selling Christmas type goods and food. It has a pretty good atmosphere and looks pretty nice. As usual everything is a little more expensive than normal.
R. P.
Very nice and relaxed. Not to busy. Lots of seating. Clean tidy and not many pigeons
J. F.
Very open and clean great city to visit five stars

Go to counsel chambers and get tour to see the largest expanse of Italian marble out with the Vatican. This place should not be a secret!!
P. M.
Christmas Market visit with my son, lovely to look at but that's as far as it goes for me. Personally I just see the stalls as over priced and far to many selling the same items.
J. M.
It is a great place I went on educational years and just recently I went last Thursday and. Signed the book of conduncles for the queen
M. P.
Beautiful place to enjoy sunshine in the city center. Hundreds of pegions roaming around. Great place for kids to run and play.

T. C. (.
Christmas market at the square. It's ok. Needs more entertainment stalls rather than just food.
M. T.
Fabulous Christmas fair and the lights were amazing.
j. e.
The last time I visited (3 weeks ago), a part of the square was closed off for renovation works, I couldn't take full pictures of the square. So just check to ensure you will have the whole place if you intend visiting.
W. K.
A nice square... Nothing unusual watch out for the skaters who can't skate
A. H.
The town hall is located here, as are the majority of Glasgow's pigeons. That may be due to the many statues there, including a svelt Queen Victoria with her consort.
G. C.
Beautiful square in centre of Glasgow, lots of bars, restaurants and shopping centers, definitely worth visiting
A. S.
First view outside Glasgow Queen Street train station
S. V. (.
It's a lovely area but the litter around the area did no favors
M. C.
Great square in the middle of Merchant City, if architecture floats your boat, its a must 👌 …
A.
Central location for meeting people and tour buses, lots of statues and other historically significant things displayed throughout. Good amount of seating, seems to be kept relatively clean, and it’s big enough to host several hundred people comfortably.
A. Q.
Fabulous day yet again at this fabulous event..go every year with our family..bank of Scotland family fun day...older granddaughter 9yrs and younger one did toddler dash...Fabulous atmosphere as usual😊 …
R. B.
Beautiful place, in the middle of the city, great place to sit and relax or eat ypur lunch
M. S.
Nice restaurants around. But the square and most benches had garbage all over. Can't sit or eat in the square as too many seagulls and pigeons. The square along with the statues are poorly maintained.
S. F.
I just chose this as a central place to meet when in Glasgow for a visit, and had a quick wander around while I was waiting. Some interesting statues etc, and lots of benches if you need a seat. There was a vigil from some Ukrainians, as the war had just started. My heart goes out to them, and I wish we were doing more to help. Also a few very vocal Rangers supporters, as there was a European tie that night (which they won!)
c. h.
Lovely place but statues are covered in bird droppings.
Council should ban the bird feeding
A. G.
Opposite to Glasgow queens Street ...lovely view with good option to eat just around the corner .
C. D.
Was beautiful with the decorations all around, made my night and got me in the mood for christmas

George Square was an awesome place to hang out! Beautiful structures all around you, birds flying and getting really close, and people of all walks of life. It's in the center of Glasgow and close to almost any kind of shop or establishment you could think of. Queen Street train station is right around the corner as well. Great place to just slow down in a fast pace city.
B. S.
Glasgow's very own Place de Mayor, only a fraction of the size, without the weather 🤣 …
C. R.
Nice lights and displays. Shame no ice rink or food stands like last Xmas.
P. T.
Loved this, the atmosphere was lovely, we got on the hop on and hop off bus and enjoyed every minute. Also enjoyed our late lunch at Wetherspoons before heading home.

I love George Square, one of my favourite places to relax in Glasgow's city centre. Its awesome to see the birds flying around with tourists taking pictures of the beautiful monuments.
Be sure to put this place on top of your list most especially when visiting Glasgow.
Pro Tip: You can get free WIFI from some open networks around so you always know where to go when you run out of data :-)
P. S.
The open area surrounded by the aesthetic buildings with the benches to sit is a chill out place. In the midst of a busy streets around, you still get the peace in this square!

N. s. M.
One of the hot spots in Glasgow and should be on a list to visit and enjoy:)
A. T.
Quite a busy area , with a hush if people around you. Had the masks been off the faces, things could have been more positive and a plethora of visitors visiting this Beautiful city would have appreciated things in a far more relaxed manner. Omicron has devastated the fun, but there were still quite a many shoppers and the streets were surely lively enough 🎉
Y. F.
Very nice place to relax after shopping and enjoys the wonderful atmosphere
R. M.
Great public space to relax in the city centre
