Reviews of Glasgow Botanic Gardens
J. C.
The Botanic gardens is a great place to come and relax for a few hours. Only 7 minutes walk from Hillhead underground and you come to a well maintained park with multiple footpaths winding there way through the multitude of plants, lawns and trees. The star of this part is definitely the two large greenhouses housing plants, ferns, palms, trees etc. from across the world. Great opportunity to learn more about plants from each of the continents.
The park has both toilets and a nice little place to grab a coffee, some cake or a sandwich. Would highly recommend this as a place to visit.
w. m.
What’s not to like ?! Victorian engineering , tropical plants, fantastic history and information boards, and it’s free to get in. A great day out and can happily spend a few hours here. In summer time the outdoors are also a great place to explore. Still one of my all time favourite places in Glasgow.
L. W.
Used the clockwork orange train and had a 5 minute walk to the gardens. It's free and well worth a visit. The glass houses are spacious but wouldn't be suitable for wide pushchairs prams or mobility scooters due to the space between the plant exhibits.
The formal gardens are well signposted and there are cafe facilities too
D. H.
Gorgeous and very interesting. Lots of info provided. Benches and tables in the grounds.Too much for us to do in one day, but luckily we have been before and managed to do the other greenhouses. Thoroughly recommended.
P. R. R.
Very nice small botanical garden in west Glasgow. Some houses were unfortunately closed due to maintenance, but the big one was open and very beautiful 😍 also the park is well designed and it was a pleasure to walk through it. Also a small café is there which we didn’t try, but it looked amazing …
A. P.
A beautiful garden full of stunning greenery. The glasshouse is full of wonderful plants and flowers. The surrounding gardens home decorative flower beds and vegetables patches also. Definitely worth a visit or even just a relaxing stroll.
A. E.
Amazing place. The greenhouses are like nothing I've ever seen. I was blown away that there was an entire room devoted to carnivorous plants. It was mind blowing. Then to find in the next greenhouse an entire room to begonias really opened my mind as I always thought begonias were a bit boring, well not anymore! The entirety of the grounds were great!
a. n.
I love botany and enjoyed the walk in the gardens. The plants are well preserved and the information is adequate. It’s a thirty minute walk if you want to see all specimens and it can be a bit humid in there (as expected).
C. N.
Small-ish when compared to say Glasgow Greens, but there are 2 very well cared for Greenhouses, clean facilities and plenty of space to sit or lie down among the greenery. A few dogs on leashes. Food and drink available on site. No parking that I saw, but easy to walk to from the subway or anywhere you found to park. Oh and free 😊 …
S. M.
The place is beautiful 😻
If you love greenery and near a day or half away from rush and chaos, this is place for you. Especially Kibble Palace! Witnessed people reading in the silence of kibble palace, made me want to experience it someday. Mesmerising ferns and varieties preserved for more than 100 years is in itself very credible!

Excellent cafe with a wide selection of of food and beverages. No alcohol as they don't have a licence. Staff very friendly and willing to please. The glasshouses are a must see to enjoy the plants and history of the gardens.
B. B.
Beautiful gardens, grounds very well maintained. The hot house (Kibble Palace) has some interesting plants and lovely Koi Carp fish. Some of the statues inside are Biblical characters, such as Cain, Eve (perhaps a nod to the garden of Eden) also Mary, Martha and Ruth. Great place for all the family, especially if the sun is shining.
a. p.
Spectacular garden
It has a very historic and nostalgic past
Has 2 huge greenhouse galleries in which very unique species are preserved
Detailed description is given to each and every plant
Sections are divided, for ex; flowers, deathly plants, forest plants, cactuses , etc
Food stalls available
There are special pitchers plant which is rarely seen
There is a long trail in the woods
It just feels like in a forest
Truly wonderful place
Toilets available
M. B.
A beautiful place to walk, relax and enjoy your own thoughts. Loads of different areas to explore. Look out for the squirrels. Free entry. A lovely tea room with a good selection of sandwiches and cakes.
E. H.
Amazing park with lots of plants to admire and many benches to ait around and take a break from walking. Make aure you go between 10 and 17 so you can visit the different greenhouses and see all of the exotic plants they house. It's completely free to visit and an amazing place to detox from the city noises and smells
M. D.
Glasgow Botanical Gardens are my go to place. Whether you just want a stroll outside or a soporific time in the hothouses, it never fails to cheer me up. There's so much to see and learn.
L. L.
Lovely place... Lots to take in and see and a great park area to sit and have a picnic. Found a lovely walk too which seemed to be a popular destination for joggers and walkers alike.
S. H. (. b.
I cannot believe that this botanical garden is free to visit. Amazing glass houses renovated in 2005 with interesting facts about the history of the gardens. Expansive areas and a child play area. Only negative is that the parking in the area seems to now be pay and display but it's not always obvious how to pay (and this contradicts info on the botanical gardens website.
D. A.
Fantastic garden and a breathtaking experience wandering around in the greenhouses. A place of calm and beauty in a hectic city. Must see and do. And free entrance. 🙂👍🏻 …
L. F.
One of my favourite places in Glasgow to visit. Always fun to see the fish 🐠🐟 and the carnivorous plants in the glasshouses. It's got a really nice atmosphere
Y. R.
Nice place for a walk, could experience jungle atmosphere in green houses. Wonderful illumination in the evening. Playground for kids.
C. S.
Lovely chilled out wander around Kelvingrove & The botanic gardens. Saw some squirrels and a heron. We also stopped for ice-cream (the van had hot food as well) and they had public free toilets.
S. A.
Really interesting history behind the gardens and glasshouses which is explained well on info boards. The planting is great, a good mix of native and exotic plants displayed really well. Some cool sculptures in the glasshouses. Free entry - would not have minded putting something in a donations box. Would have liked some more interpretation boards in the arboretum section. Nice playground for young children. Parking was tricky to find within 5 minutes walk, but I would imagine on-street parking would be easier if we'd gone earlier in the day - however the glasshouses are currently only open from 12 midday. We took a picnic and there were plenty of places to sit, but not in shelter. There is a cafe though, so if it is raining you could eat and keep dry!
J. P.
Love the various environments in the various greenhouses. Not very crowded even on a sunny long-weekend day. Ideal spot for a picnic in the open lawns. The view from the bridge over the River Clyde and the lush forest along its banks is spectacular. Found parking on the bridge over the River Clyde close-by.
R. S.
The grounds are lovely. The hothouses were closed. I recommend going down from the gardens to the Kelvin River walk. There are steps leading down and the walk is truly lovely
H. S.
Amazed to see this type of collection. First time inside a Botanical garden. I regret not going to others while traveling. Definitely a must go
M. Z.
The inside gardens were only one way system which it's been very good as we're really big and lots of plants to observe
N. J.
Beautiful historic gardens complete with multiple areas and rich history presented across the campus. Rain or shine, the mix of indoor and outdoor spaces offer something for all.
A. B. (. B.
Amazing place. The grounds around the greenhouses are beautiful. Inside is like being in a rainforest or a desert. Great place especially on a cold day as you keep warm aswell.
I. M.
Picked a lovely day for a wander through the greenhouses. Well looked after. The flower beds outside were beautiful too. A good way to spend a day. And it has the kelvin walkway too. You have the choice of the tea room or the take away caravan for a refreshment. I will be back.
s.
Very good. Free entry. Large selection of plants to look at. Two massive structures to explore. Tour takes around three hours.
A.
Great activity if you can’t think of what to do in Glasgow lol. It even opens on New Year’s Day. Tho it’s not beautiful as it is in summer time I believe.
D. P.
Just Wow! The greenhouses are like nothing I've ever seen. Loved the environment and wish I had more time to explore! This is a must see place!
A. K.
One of my favorite parts of our recent visit to Glasgow. Enjoyed the glasshouses and seeing so many different plants!
W. L.
Lovely free place to kill some time. Unfortunately the main glasshouses were shut during our visit for work but the rest of the gardens are still worth a look around.
K. M.
Loved it...at one stage it felt like we were in a mild setting of Jurassic Park! The colours, the textures of everything... 😍 …
M. S.
Absolutely lovely and well kept botanical garden with different plant gardens. An absolute must see during summer in Glasgow!
A. G.
Nice walk around the conservatories. Green area. Toilets and small cafe with outdoor terrace. Worth a visit
A. P.
So beautiful and we maintained. Fortunately I happened to visit the Gardens on a sunny day and it felt magical. I couldn't see any roses in the Rose Garden though (I think it's off season).
It's just a couple of metres outside the Uni. It's gonna be my go-to chill-out space (other than Kelvingrove park ofcourse).
J. B. F. H.
If you like garden and flowers please visit this place. And it cost nothing. Amazing place ❤️
M.
Stunning area, really well kept and maintained. Green-fields everywhere, things looks amazing.
A. A. (.
Loved the environment and the vast collection of both indoors and outdoor plants. Wish I had more time to explore!
j. m.
Good botanic garden within Glasgow.
Can easily walk from the city or along the riverside.
Great for picnic or just a walk around - lots of different brids. Many shaded areas for chilling. Having playground for kids too.
Toilets are available but not in best condition.
Come on sunday morning for free open-air market to enjoy local products/food with live music too.
N. A.
Wow,
It’s very nice and beautiful 😍 garden 🪴. This is a lovely opportunity see most of green and plants 🌱 from other countries and content.
Under covered room they provided condition such as temporary and humidity for them.
Also, in this garden 🪴 you can walk around seating and enjoy yourself and your family and friends.
Some café and small sandwiches 🥪 shop are there if you’re looking for a snack or light food 🍱.
Around garden you can find Carpark at street and you need to pay 💰 and display or easily pay by app.
Unfortunately, they day we visited too many Americans from Netflix were there for filming a film 🎥 and came inside garden with their cars and THEY DIDN’T CARE ABOUT OUR GARDEN.
It was very bad and I didn’t understand why management system accepted this action, if they want to do some films 🎥 they should not come inside garden with too many cars 🚗,
S. S.
Fascinating plants here and so well housed and maintained. Definitely worth a visit.
p. k.
Lovely place. Ppl who love nature plants and peace should definitely visit this place.
J. L.
Beautiful garden. The greenhouses are particularly worthwhile. There are lots of squirrels jumping around, which are very trusting and easy to observe. On a nice day you can sit on the bench and relax a bit.
A. S.
A lovely day trip to the botanic gardens, even in the pouring rain.
There are two separate buildings to view both with huge varieties of plants, all free to explore.
E. P. M.
Great place, well maintained and lots of cool plants and fish to see. Gardeners were friendly and knowledgeable too
Free toilets and cafe within the gardens were an added bonus
E. P.
Family friendly. Lovely collection. Have a lot of benches so you can rest and enjoy the plants.
Ľ. K.
A really lovely botanic garden with a very wide range of plants and flowers, and some exotic finds! It's pretty much what you expect from a good botanic garden. The entrance to the greenhouses was free (not sure if it is always free or only during these times when not all of the greenhouses are open). We visited during the weekend and it was not too crowded either.
A.
Nice warm walk thru the gardens. Lots of flowers from around the world.
I. F.
It's a beautiful place! Walking here makes me feel good 🥰 …
S. D.
There is alot more here to see than what you would think. The main glasshouse is huge!
Visit the tea room on site as the tea & scones are lovely.
m. c.
I absolutely love a visit to the botanic gardens.
Being a disabled person there is easy access to everything including the gardens, the glass houses and toilets . There are plenty of seats throughout the garden, most with lovely memorial plaques on them.
The gardens are split into various sections , including stunning floral displays, shrubs, vegetables, herbs and even some poisonous plants. Each plant is clearly labelled with the English and Latin names.
The glass houses are absolutely amazing, you almost feel as if you're in the tropics or jungle. There are beautiful fish swimming in water features and there are lovely statues all the way round the glass houses. There are boards with interesting facts about the gardens and their history.
There is also a tea room with a lovely selection of hot and cold drinks , sandwiches , soup, etc. There is a mobile kitchen selling everything thing from hot filled rolls, hot and cold drinks, ice cream and a range of food for non meat eaters too.
Everything you need for a great day out at no cost and you can just sit and enjoy the beauty of the place.
I've been coming since i was a child and my love for the place has only grown over the years.
T. M.
Very well maintained gardens and beautiful surrounding park. Been multiple times over the past few decades, highly recommended.
s. l. (.
It was beautiful! And also free. many different types of flowers and plants
B. l.
One of the “must see” highlights of Europe. I am not kidding. I have been to almost every tourist attraction in every county in Europe and this was one of the most memorable. Great place to enjoy an ice cream cone and relax
N. A. H. &. S.
What an amazing place to go and relax and enjoy nature. Highly recommended
M. P.
Fantastic place - the greenhouses are superb and free too which is amazing.
Had a lovely wonder around the park, the river walk was great and just a lovely place to chill out with a drink too.
H. B.
Glasglow 2022 the land that time forgot was amazing. Botanis were lit up so fantastic
C. L.
Fabulous - been to many but this free magnificently maintained garden was superb
B. M.
Absolutely fantastic botanic gardens. The variety of plants from all different types of environments was impressive
T. v. d. H.
The greenhouses are stunning with the widest variety of plants imaginable. The statues inside are breathtaking.
The outdoor area is extremely tidy and welcoming with paths leading you wherever you need to go.
This is a must see place for anybody in Glasgow!
K. S.
Wow this place is amazing!! So much to see. Will definitely visit again.
H. S.
A good place for gathering with friends and families. We visited the Kibble Palace and we can find many plants from over the world. There were some information about the history of the palace.
A. D. L.
It's beautiful! All kind of plants arranged according to where they come from.
A.
The feral pigeons are very polite and friendly.
The wood pigeons are somewhat withdrawn but will respond eagerly to peanuts.
d. m.
Beautifully well kept gardens and glasshouses, ideal for a walk or sitting having lunch in the park. Also links to the Kelvin walkway where you can walk directly to Kelvingrove park
T. A. B.
A great little park with lots of amazing scenery, and an equally beautiful area surrounding it.
You’ll find countless different kinds of plants here from all over the world, both outside, and inside the two massive greenhouses, one which which hosts a small jungle that you can walk right through and is equally covered in dozens of old and well sculpted statues.
The design of the park is also really nice. Compact enough to not be overbearing, but more than big enough to give you good breathing room.
The river Kelvin which flanks the right side of the park also offers some really amazing views from Humpback Bridge.
There’s also an abandoned subway area in this park that more often than not you can walk right into. It’s very easy to find with some quick research. Tucked away behind a bush near the main gate at the very top of the park.
A. M.
Good gardens to visit if you are in Glasgow, all free
J. H.
Lovely wee visit. Beautiful plants from all over the globe!
M. T.
A lovely gardens in the west end. The park is free. Dogs are allowed in the gardens but not into the glass houses but there’s plenty to see without going in. The cafe is fairly small and if wet the patio is closed. Dogs are not allowed inside the cafe.
Parking is fairly easy to find but you might need to walk a little way.
T. M.
A huge and fascinating garden that is very cool to walk and learn more about plants and nature.
G. s.
Magical place.
And you can feed the squirrels. And
visit the inside gardens .
S. K.
Lovely oasis in the city. Beautiful borders, interesting arboretum and some great landscaping. Good place for a walk or run.
B. R. S.
Me and my kids spend 8 hours in the park . We are walking, climbing on the tree ,playing with squirrels, playing in playing place and having food , coffee is not but . Nice glass house to look inside and beautiful view outside , and all FOR FREE 10/10
T.
Great place to be.. very relaxing way to spend a few hours among the plants 🌱 …
P. N.
One of Glasgow best parks. Nice playground for the kids clean restrooms. Dog friendly with a nice picnic area.
Y. L.
It was a really hot day when I recently visited and the gardens were heaving with people sunbathing despite the high temperature.
L. G.
Lovely experience.......in the centre of Glasgow!
A bank holiday in Scotland..so very busy.....and yes the weather was good!! The glass houses were brilliant...and well cared for ..Exhibition was informative...
Lily and Rose's food hub.....excellent food at a very reasonable price. Toilets accessible and clean . A bit of a walk from Bus tour stop(Byres Road)!
B. D.
Botanical gardens are awesome to walk round. the worst thing is the parking. Total nightmare trying to find a spot, or pay for the spot, please check the signs and the Glasgow council website for payment details.
We turned up at the gardens around 9:15pm, there was some confusion on opening times for the buildings, google maps was incorrect.
The gardens are lovely, squirrels were not scared to come close looking for food.
It rained heavy so we took shelter in the buildings. Some great plants, some great sights. Very worth a visit.
Also go to the tea rooms, had a nice plain scone/jam and coffee.
S. c.
Nice place to spend a few hours walking around.
J. D.
Beautiful park with many different areas. Go into the botanical glass houses, walk along the river valley or rest by the many lawns. Swing park for the energetic children or just pass through going from one part of the city to another. You will not be disappointed.
E. L.
Such a lovely place to walk. You can find pockets of silence and being alone. There’s a green room that has beautiful variety of plants and ferns. occasionally there will be events here at the park: book fair, plant sale, theatre play, and more.
k. y.
It is a beautiful garden. Because of a winter season, it was all covered with sleet and snow, and was looking lovely. In summers it will be a different view. Glass house is beautiful with different variety of plants. Surely recommend.
n. m.
This park is gorgeous!
It's not too big but perfect for walks.
There are gorgeous flowers and it's a well cured park with nice grass and trees.
Pros: there are so many cute squirrels to whom you can give some nuts (I was recommended Brazilian nuts).
There are also restrooms and a couple of greenhouses, with lots of different plants.
A. H.
Grabbed fresh croissant from Cottonrake and had breakfast with family here. Relaxing place and nice for day start.
M. C.
Botanic gardens is the most beautiful park in Glasgow since 1971 up to the present its been my favorite walk and its stunning trees and flowers and glass houses especially the kibble palace that was reconstructed here in 1873. It was taken up the clyde from a private house, it has a great history. Since outside tearoom and when the sunshine is out it fills with birdsong and its a joy to behold.

UPDATE: BATGIRL MOVIE FILMED IN BOTANICS UNDERGROUND STATION
- A splendid sanctuary from 'fast-lane' living. One of Glasgow most iconic locations. The Botanics are, literally, a breath of fresh air, housing almost 10,000 species of plants within its gates. Beyond its considerable contribution to ecology and conservation, it's just a great place to find solace. It's popular with students, thespians, tourists and locals alike. Its 49 acre site ( that's about 37 football fields in size) have plenty of things to see and do. There is an ever-changing programme of events, the historic greenhouses hold incredible examples of bio-diversity, and there are lovely, leafy walks, including past a disused victorian underground station which you can peer into whilst imagining the sights and sounds of well-dressed passengers from a bygone era. There are also good eateries within the gardens and plenty of space to sit. Birdlife abounds, particularly around the feeding area, and there are limitless friendly squirrels bouncing about. There is free parking near the north west gate and metered parking in the surrounding area. On walking out of the main entrance, the best of Glasgow's West End unfolds in front of you. Byres Road and beyond are full of restaurants, pubs and shops. If visiting Glasgow, the Botanics are a must-see.
R. D. D. C.
A lovely garden and an absolute joy to tour. However, it is obvious that the gardeners have been drinking a great deal of tea during lockdown and letting many of the beds go to fallow. The beds at the entrance of the park are only just now in mid-June in the year of our Lord, 2021, getting tilled and planted. It doesn't take a Scottish doctor of infectious diseases to know that gardening is not a super-spreader activity. Certainly, Scottish local governments are absolutely brilliant at getting paid to do nothing during a national crisis. There is a snack bar by the entrance and a lovely tea-house on the premises. I will say that I didn't see litter on the ground so, at least, somebody must have been doing something. What a joke to pay a full time attendant 10 pounds per hour to sit and read a book in the unisex bathroom. How do I get a local government job? I hate work; I love free money; I like to read!
P. L.
Great view, as tropical country citizen this place feels like home because they have tropical rain forest miniature
Л. Г.
Such a beautiful place! A must place to visit!
R. D.
Definitely worth a visit if you are in Glasgow. Beautiful glasshouses with a large and varied selection of plants. You could easily spend a couple of hours here if the weather is not too good. Cafe and toilets on site too.
D. H.
We spent a few hours here and it's well worth a visit. The glass houses are really interesting, one of the guys who was working in the large palm house took the time to talk to us about some of the plants.
If you are visiting and have a blue badge you can park in the grounds via the queen Margaret entrance and park by the 2nd glass House.
I. M.
Great place to spend some quality time with family and friends. This reminds me so much of botanical gardens and parks back home. I love being around nature and having spent a long time in the field of life sciences, species variation is something that fascinates me to the core. This garden is not only a spot for relaxation and fun but also highly educative if someone pursuing botanical science is keen enough to explore the breadth and depth of their knowledge and experience. I thoroughly enjoyed my walks around this amazing garden. I have been here with my friends and I cherish every bit of it. Can't wait to go down there again. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
G. E.
Its a lovely place to go for a few hours
K. C.
Went here on a sunny day and it was lovely. The grounds are clean and well kept, lots of benches to sit on. The glasshouses were beautiful. There was even a book fair on when we went, which was a nice surprise.
T. D.
We walked through the arboretum with the dog again this morning. It was wet, dull, and magnificent. A lovely walk, over two bridges and under one, twice.
T. G.
Best place to escape from the cold weather
P. N.
Inside the glass house with the koi pond, is like being in a mini equatorial forest. It is a very calming location. We spent a few minutes on one if the benches which are situated round the walkway. All the gardens are super.
J. C.
Went here for GlasGLOW and it was magical.
Lovely lights and a nice walk that wasn't too long or too short.
My only criticism is that it was way too expensive for what it was and it was really busy - but this was due to the GlasGLOW event.
Otherwise - I think this would be a lovely place to visit during the summer months.
N. F.
Such a beautiful garden! Definitely worth a visit :)
o.
Beautiful place, smells great too! The Statues in the palace are gorgeous and the collection of plants of all shapes and sizes is amazing. Men's public restroom was out of order and there's a number of restricted places. Plenty of benches and bins.
A. A.
Beautiful place for all ages to enjoy
L. O.
Some areas were closed. Loved the pumpkin display. I appreciate it is end of season but very few flowers. I will try again at a different time of year.
C. P.
One of my favourite places to go, especially with my little puppy. He absolutely loves it there, and we love walking around the gardens. It's a really lovely place even though the glass houses are closed. Definitely recommend coming here for an afternoon walk.
J. Q.
I was lucky with the beautiful weather when I went! Well posted with signs and plenty of benches for relaxing. The barista at the pop-up coffee stand was pretty snippy but who can blame her? A teenager who works with the general public all day, I have pity for her.
L. K.
One of my favourite places in Glasgow. Great place to wander around and have a picnic. It's very busy at the weekend, so best to go during the week. Kibble place is a fantastic free site to see and the hot house nextdoor has an even larger selection of plants from all over the world. If you are a tourist visiting the city, after lockdown, definitely but this on your list of things to do.👍
G. m.
Always a great park to visit for locals and tourists. Especially love the pumpkin display at Glasglow but this year was not as good as previous years. The professionally done pumpkins are amazing and always a thrill to see but they didnt seem to be lit up well. Glasglow, upscale your pumpkins next year.
v. s.
Park lovely. Attended for Dinoshow/Glasgow. My grandson (6yr old) and I thought event wasn't as good as expected. Second set tickets due to train strikes. Found it bit disappointing all round.
S. P.
Nice place for a walk. You get to see various species of plants. You can bring your kids here as there is a lot of space for playing around.
S.
Not too impressed, not many flowers just ferns and palms
A. D.
A nice variety of plants and flowers to view, gardens are beautiful and well kept, with a herb garden, and vegetable garden (in working progress). There's a children's garden that was currently closed but looked good, and a children's play area. The main glass house was also closed, but that also looked worth a visit.
F. D.
Very beautiful gardens ideal for a few hours break from the city noise. There are glasshouses with different plants, including exotic ones which are quite a sight to see. I've been in both winter and summer and the gardens were equally as enjoyable.
Most of the glasshouses will have a high humidity and a high temperature so don't dress too thick or make sure you can get a few layers off when inside.
The best part of it is that it's free so there's no excuse not to visit if you like plants and flowers.
However, there are a few negative points which, although it's not the fault of the gardens, it might affect your experience. Parking is quite difficult to find at times. And if it's a really nice day outside or a bank holiday, the grounds will be quite crowded.
Overall it's a really nice place to visit. A couple of hours should be enough to enjoy everything.
N. J.
This is a beautiful space, only a short distance from the centre of Glasgow, with some enormous hothouses as well as plenty of outdoor space. Covid restrictions have imposed one-way systems inside the hothouses, but this didn't really detract from the experience, and ensured that all of it was seen. A plethora of hand sanitising stations gave additional reassurance. As an added bonus, the whole site is free to enter! Definitely worth a visit.
W. W.
wonderful spot for contemplation, viewing rare flora, & conversation on the move. I spent a half-day here with my mate getting lost in the avenues. Wouldn’t be a bad date either.
a. s. l. z.
Amazing place to see variety of plants
R. T.
A wonderful cornucopia of plants, all undercover and suitable for wheelchair access.
Plants of all types and waterfeatures a plenty. Though parking can be difficult, there is plenty of public transport and the train is not far.
We'll kept grounds for picnics and a wonderful tearoom on site too.
Lots of benches to just enjoy the peace and quiet too, when it is not too busy.
N.
The collection of species is remarkable and I love how plants from each region is compartmentalized as you go through the glasshouse like a map. Would've loved to see some blooming flowers but I guess I shouldn't have expected much as I visited during autumn. Otherwise a lovely place! They were setting up the park for GlasGlow when I visited so the place was decorated and made my experience even better!
A. L.
Lovely gardens which are maintained to a very high standard. Plenty of plants to see in many greenhouses and all well looked after. The cafe is highly recommended. Waitress service and great food at reasonable prices served by great staff. The gardens are free and are worth visiting.

Great place to visit in Glasgow’s west end . The botanical gardens has a play park for the children and has a glass greenhouse that features lots of different plants . People might not know that there is underground railway platforms the go under the gardens bringing you out at Kelvin bridge. If anyone is lucky enough to get down here it’s a great experience ( take a good torch )
R. L.
Beautiful! We were here in late September and the flowers were still magnificent! The grounds are well manicured and clean and the conservatory was very interesting.
D. T.
Wonderful place to walk about. I visited in early November and while not many things were in bloom, we were still impressed by all indoor gardens, including finding a bunch of bananas growing on one of the trees. Entry is free and the surrounding park is quite big.
V.
Beautiful, free, a pleasant walk. Two free greenhouses and an open area with flowers, paths, kids play area, benches, toilets and cafe.
Opening hours are everyday until dusk, all year.
Don't miss the walkways along the Kelvin river connecting to Kelvingrove Park. A calm and beautiful walk.

If you are one of the nature lover, this garden has to be in your list. So many different trees, flowers etc. to look at. Kids are not forgetten as usual with a play ground but it is for probably below 5 year old. One thing might force you is to upright roads that could be difficult for kids and cyclists.
S. W.
Gorgeous. Also, the perfect getaway on a cold rainy day. It's nice and warm inside. Beautiful plants and atmosphere, local families enjoying the day and the grounds themselves are breathtaking.
One of the buildings is not pet friendly but like most places here in Glasgow your four legged friend can have a great day at the gardens.
B. J.
Well organised lovely place with plenty of plant variety. You get a pleasant feeling walking around the place. Probably more than 1000 types of plants with detailed description. Maybe flowers variety can be improved.
I. S.
My wife and myself took our granddaughter to GlasGlow - it basically was at trip back 170 million years to a time when dinosaurs rulled the world. A terrific experience which was enjoyed by all.
B. S.
Lovely place to spend some time especially during the cold grey winter months.
A credit to those who look after the plants and buildings.
이.
Though you visit in winter it's still good. Glasshouses are beautiful with various studying materials. Wild rose garden had no roses in winter but there were a lot of squirrels and birds less afraid of human than I ever saw.
d. r.
Came here on a murky but humid day and inside the units there was an abundance of plants to look at. It's a shame a sign has had to be placed up saying report anybody stealing plants. They are beautifully looked after and for our pleasure, it's a shame people let us down. Large park with other features to look at, including a children's garden and a rose garden too. Definately worth a wander if you are nearby. Have a picnic with the family. On site food and drink trailer for convenience.
M. S.
Visited many times. My step daughter and nephews loved it when they were wee. Absolutely worth a visit!
R. A.
Botanic gardens is a great place to chill, hang out, relax and morning family gathering for breakfast maybe or some snacks afternoon.. I personally have fun there.. I used to go in the morning for walk or run, then I have my breakfast and feed pigeon and squirrels as well.. I enjoy talking to strangers at pet their dogs, good place to socialise and when you get in the plants place, you will enjoy the smell and sound of nature there, so many unique plants and information to know about them.. you definitely have to spend quite of time there
y. s.
Nice little walk but guess we went at wrong time of year as there wasn’t much to see and was a bit of a mess tbh was quiet surprised as ment to be a botanical garden, the greenhouses were closed so not much to see apart from the very friendly squirrels.
I. C.
A wonderful retreat to get away from the hustle and bustle of Glasgow. It's warm and cosy even on a cold day, the air is fresh and you can marvel at the elegant shape and the Victorian metal and glass construction.
Whenever I make the effort to go here I appreciate it.
Sadly the most recent time I was in the park at the Botanic gardens the greenhouse itself was closed (covid) but a huge effort was put into the outdoor GlasGlow event which took place around it. See photos.
L. N.
I went in Winter when the glasshouses close pretty early (4.15 pm, while at 6 pm in Summer), so I missed it. I guess it would look better in Summer too. But it's a really nice place to visit - huge area, great variety of plants, many squirrels to see. The 'Chronological Border' is really interesting. The Garden features a Café and tidy public toilets.
M. M.
Great park, visit greenhouses if you get a chance. There are lots of squirrels begging for food in this park.
Sadly, this park closes at night so check the opening times in advance.
S. H.
I had a good time viewing all of the plants and took quite a few pictures. The grounds are very well landscaped and provide a pleasant place to walk and relax. I highly recommend visiting here at least once.
S. M.
Really pleasant place to walk around on a nice day. You can park (pay and display) on the streets nearby but it can be quite busy so you may have to park a bit further away. The gardens are clean and maintained. Pretty flowers around. There is a little garden for children and a play park. You can walk along the water or visit the greenhouses. There are plenty of benches to take a seat (one is even covered with knitting) there is a cafe and a burger van that also sells ice creams etc. I seen lots of people walking their dog and jogging etc so good if you're looking for that. The park is free entry although sometimes there are events which you have to pay entry but these would be advertised. You're also in the heart of west end so when you leave the park you can go to the many bars, restaurants and shops nearby all within walking distance.
C. e.
Lovely park for a walk with family and friends or walking the dog in the morning. 🙂 …
J. B.
Not my cup of tea but I found it amusing in a kind of way. Tropical part the best, and hottest. Great place for outdoor relaxing on the grass. Bicycles welcome. WC. You must visit the tea garden when you come here. Very good. Own playground for children.
D. P.
I absolutely adore the Botanic Gardens in Glasgow - the grounds open early and close late, and the glass houses are excellent. There are many well maintained outdoor gardens as well as the superlative indoor collections. The orchid house and carnivorous plant exhibitions are a particular delight. Well worth a visit - and no entrance fee either.
N. M. N.
Very nice place to visit with families and friends to relax and enjoy the environment, toilet facilities are there and tea and snacks available, also fish and chips counter there £3 chips and £5 fish and chips, my kids enjoyed with squirrel, there is a car park with in 6minutes walk.
E. B.
What a wonderful place to visit and for no cost!
Each area of the garden has well tended and interesting plants. The buildings are interesting as well.
My family stopped by for afternoon tea at the restaurant on the grounds.
I highly recommend this place.
G. M.
Best viewed in summer, still very busy with Covid specific restrictions. Tea Room service was fast despite being busy and is dog friendly. On street parking only but accessable with public transport.
K. L.
A must visit for anyone who is in Glasgow. Not only this place is good for a peaceful walk, but also offers 2-3 huge glasshouses that offer rare and beautiful plants from all parts of the world.. and I meant ALL parts! Right from Africa, to India and South East Asia!
One can easily spend half a day here! It has works of people who have designed some really beautiful sculptures that add to the charm! In case you feel hungry, there is a small cafe where you can grab a bit and clean toilets. Don't forget to take a stroll by the river where you can spot colourful ducks enjoying a dip and 🐕 having fun around the park!
C.
This place is BEAUTIFUL. Well worth a visit. The gardens are large and you could spend quite some time looking round. The glass House is beautiful and inside is great
A. D.
Beautiful gardens, even in the winter months. I especially enjoyed the beauty of the glass palace. I found the signage a bit unprofessional at times, but other than that the experience in the greenhouses was lovely. Free to visit, and a great place for people of any age.
z. h.
It was raining and cold but thanks to glasshouse ( 2 of them) we spend there 1.5h in nice warm environment- we paid nothing apart from donations 😀. Definitely recommend to families with kids …
S. S.
Free to visit with lots to explore.
N. R.
Went to Glasglow. Absolutely loved it! It took around an 1hour and a half to walk around it. But it was stunning. The reason for four star. The ticket price was a bit expensive £18 per adult and £11.50 per child with no option of a family ticket. It's a shame cause they would definitely get more people buying if it was priced reasonable and affordable for the average family.
M. N.
It's so beautiful I love the fact that they have name for each plant botanic gardens is huge I'm definitely going again they also have cafe
C. S. (.
The kibble and glasshouses are truly amazing. I miss being able to take in deep breathes of the air, and access every section but as soon as covid has fully passed I hope to spend as much time as possible here enjoying the hard work of many gardeners.
The economic plants section is my favourite!
J. F.
Downtown Glasgow, a nice break from the beautiful architecture and concrete vistas surrounding you. Multiple climates in multiple historic Greenhouses. Desert, jungle and in between, enjoy your walk with some snacks or ice cream from a food truck in the park grounds. Lots of facts and history mounted on plaques around the park. Wouldn't mind having some more descriptions and names of plants so you could spruce up your own garden. Excellent!
X. X.
Took a lovely walk inside on a cold rainy day. A variety of plants within limited space. Covid safe with one way system.
D. B.
Wow we loved this place. I have visited botanic gardens in the UK before but this one, even on a wet day, has something for everyone. Vast parkland and two very interesting glass houses showing off the vast tropical plants and the Victorian architecture. Best of all this place is free! Add this garden to your must visit list.
J. A.
Such a wonderful selection of plants and flowers. My favorite was the greenhouse. They have a ton of beautiful flowers, vegetables, orchids, cacti, etc. To be honest, it is like a lot of other botanic gardens I’ve seen, however going to them is one of my personal favorite things to do in any city. I would make it a stop on your itinerary!
M. P.
Stunning place to retreat and wander. Beautiful selection of plants, trees and flowers and a fantastic place to relax. Inside the dome is truly mesmerising and you are transported to another place, another world. Paradise. Sit for a while on the many benches or head to the café for a beverage. Needing some peace? Some respite? This is the place for you!
D. H.
Great place to visit. Free entry and perfect for a rainy day
M.
Who doesn’t love a free admission to one of the most well kept botanical gardens in the world?! I was so impressed with how beautiful and well kept each species were and it’s such a photogenic place to be at! Highly recommend if you’re in Glasgow!
a. a.
Absolutely gorgeous super warm inside too and there's a lively little module cafe with wonderful tea too. You can honestly staty there for hours and walk around the botanical garden grounds or even inside.. they have such cute little recycled monsters in the cactus zone so really good for kids too. Enjoy
G. v. d. W.
Great spot to enjoy some flora inside the glasshouses and outside as well.
W. A.
Nice place to visit and hill out with a family and friend. Highly recommended.
C. A.
Went by the park in the evening with a drizzle out and was impressed by the serenity. Quite the homely place rich in history and purpose, and has quite the wide selection of flowers to admire through.
Winding paths at the park, and a bridge over the river makes for a marvelous experience.
E. V.
Fabulous place. Definitely worth a visit. We had tasty soup in the tearoom .
J. I.
Good selection of plants at the greenhouse, and you can go for a nice stroll with a loved one in the Kibble Palace. A wing is even dedicated to pitcher plants! Rail fans can take a peak at the platforms of the abandoned Botanic Gardens station. Check the events in their website before you visit, you might be lucky enough to catch a performance of Shakespeare, or a concert. Delightful place to spend an afternoon and evening.
R. D.
At Glasgow Botanical Garden there are many varieties of plants and trees.
There are also carnivores plant like the Picture plants.
The Glass house is one of the main attraction out there where the temperature is maintained in such a way that some plants which needs a bit higher temperatures to survive even though the outside temperature in Glasgow is lower.
There is also a coffee shop for refreshments.
Please note that I have visited the place during summer times and only been there once. Also, the photos clicked are during my visit during summer time.
K. m.
Was such a beautiful park. I went on a sunny day and the park was really busy. Loads of walkways along the riverside. Play area for kids. Glass house and bothys. Lovely for a summer stroll or a wander to the park with the kids.
E. H.
Beautiful gardens and great greenhouses too. A lovely way to spend a few hours
L. A.
Beautiful array of plants and rare species, thoroughly recommend
b.
Amazing tropical plants and greenhouses, lots of types of plants and a great carnivorous plant bog, amazing ponds with tropical fish, and a stunning display of rare cacti and succulents. Definitely worth visiting!
E.
Great place to visit. Free to enter. Toilets on the side. A small lovely cafe with great selection of coffee and tea some cakes, sandwiches etc.
R. k.
Natures beauty kept in harmony . A must visit .
E. B.
Beautiful day to walk the grounds, the indoor greenhouses are also lovely. You definitely want to come on a nice day to get the full benefits of this park.
C. S.
I love the botanic gardens. Its a great place to go no matter what age. The gardens are beautiful. The plants are labelled and there are separate gardens. The play park is great for the kids. The hot houses are fabulous. This is well worth a visit.
R. M.
I always try to visit the botanical gardens when visiting Glasgow and thoroughly enjoy each visit. The glasshouses are wonderfully put together and looked after.
I like how dogs are allowed in the main gardens, as long as they're kept on a lead, as some botanical gardens do not allow them at all.
D. P.
Amazing collection in unusual and beautiful setting. Pitty there isn't more information available about the natural history on display. Why isn't there a book shop for instance.
C. V.
Excellent display of tropical flora - the hot house is suitably steamy and precision planned. Great place to wander for an hour or so. A well-maintained and informative collection.
D. A.
Do you like Plants and Nature? I am sure you will love this place.
It's also a great place to hangout with friends and family.
K. A.
Such a beautiful and calm garden to visit for free. We had access to the nursery for plants and other activities.
S.
First visit here and I loved it. Its beautiful in there.
Would be a regular if I lived near by.
V. K.
If you are in Glasgow you just must to go to Botanical gardens. I loved it. Not sure how it looks other months, but During May it's so beautiful 😍 glasshouse closses at 6pm. And the great news- it's totally free …
S. G.
So interesting and a lot interesting! There are so many plants I never seen before, and they're all beautiful 😍 …
T.
Lovely day out, even in the winter
C. P.
A park with an expansive lawn. You can sit back and relax, and there are many children running around on the lawn. There is not much to see in the world rose garden or children's garden unless the flowering time is right.
D. C.
We were doing some shopping in Byres Road so we had to have wee walk round the Botanics.
There was a cactus sale on and our daughter is a big fan of cacti. A couple of purchases were made to add to the collection.
We then had a wander round the glass houses but it was a bit hot in there so we didn't last long.
I. R.
Really lovely place to visit if you're in Glasgow! Lots of things to do for children including a children's garden and playground. A lot of people also walk their dogs here. Large grounds with meandering paths through forested area, gardens, and alongside the river. There are also sections of different plants indoor to view as well. Lovely to visit all year round. A very nice escape from city life.
A. P.
A lovely spot to walk around. Beautiful variety of plants.
F. M.
Wonderful place to visit.
S. R.
Great place for all ages to explore in the city. Kids loved going between all the greenhouses and through the grounds. Very easy to find. Parking is a little challenging on a busy day...must've just been an off day when we went but the cafe could do with better service or just having food in general, a few things weren't available on the menu that day. Overall a recommended place to visit.
K. P.
A lot of plants, glasshouses included
G. A.
Covid signage a bit confusing in one of the Greenhouses but all in all some lovely plants and a great way to spend a couple of hours! Grounds are really nice too!
R. G. (.
Small but impressive garden. Great for a walk or picknick. A great collection of flowers and plants, you can find indoors. Should really see.
G. S.
Lovely place 😁😍🌺
I just wish there would be less pseudo artists , who do nothing but making pictures, moving others around and being rude "because they are artists"...
I love making pictures and sharing how I am appreciating the life, but NEVER in the way, which is distributing others...
Please, take some time to actually SEE how amazing the world is and let others take some time for this too... 💚
M. W.
A lovely spot.
Obviously much appreciated by Glaswegians given the number of benches most of which were occupied when we visited.
A credit to the gardeners - also excellent cakes in the tea shop!
s.
Was brilliant to walk around in the dark at the Glasglow event. Was lit up well and there were some fantastic photo opportunities. Perfect night out for family or couples.
S. N.
If you love a botanical garden do not miss this. I absolutely loved it and it’s free! The variety is fantastic, while it’s not as big as some, they pack a lot in definitely worth a visit.
J. K.
Went there today for the first time, to see the event Glasglow. It was amazing! Magical, mystical and beautiful. There were lots of children who really enjoyed themselves 😊 can't wait to go there during the day ❤️ …
V. T. C.
Beautiful day to enjoy a walk through Botanical Gardens along with the Fall Laser show starting at 5pm
R. i.
A beautiful park were you can sit outside on benches or go into one of the greenhouses to look at a diverse range of plants from all over the world. And it's totally free!
C. C.
A nice and peaceful place to wander around and be with nature. The glasshouses are FULL of beautiful exotic plants🌸 …
M. C.
Well worth a visit, great selection of plants in the glass houses. Nice Arboretum, although not huge. And like many places in Glasgow entry is free!
R. S.
It’s a wonderful Glasshouse Botanical Garden! They have two main zones: desert and tropical ones. My personal favorite was the carnivore plants section.
I. J.
Great place to walk around even on a cold winter's day. The greenhouses were a welcome respite from the cold, and had lots of beautiful plants to look at (and photograph!).
D. H.
Ace botanical Gardens. Amazing Victorian fern house, national begonia and orchid collection, cacti, rhododendrons all over, cute cafe, mass plantings of brilliant bedding plants. What more could you want? To top it off, it's free entry!!!
c. d.
Been visiting my entire life and never get bored. Two magnificent botanic houses set in beautiful parkland with a river walkway. I'd give it ten stars if I could.
A. G.
Free admission is nice, small gardens, but lovely
M. M.
A quiet place with lots of exotic plants, places to to sit and enjoy the weather (be it summer or winter, just not in the rain. Glasgow weather is quite moody). If you're looking for a place to not just calm your mind and enjoy the scenery but a place to also enjoy some tea (The tea garden) and a good book then this is the place to be.
N. R.
Lovely park well kept and an plethora of different types of flowers and added information of where they originate from and their uses in medicine and culinary aspects. it's a shame the children's play area is small it could do with an expansion especially with the park being very popular with families and people from all walks of life.
F.
It is a great place to relax and learn more about plants. Really well kept gardens 👍 …
I. W.
Beautiful surreal place, nice for a stroll or sightseeing purposes. Worth a visit as there are glasshouses to look at, benches in the park/garden to sit and admire the beautiful flora.
D. H. j.
It was a surprise visit when we decided to take the Subway to the Botanic Gardens, we spent a good hour in the 1st section but it was too hot a day to do anymore and se we spent the next 3-4hrs enjoying the sunshine on the lawn with everyone else
J. G.
We were lucky with very nice weather, lovely gardens and free to visit. Big glass houses full of amazing plants and marble statues.
M.
Smaller than I expected but still lovely to visit. I would like to go again closer to summer to see how it would look then. Good way to spend an hour or two. Also many cute dogs.
I. S.
Nice gardens, many places to sit and relax.
T. M.
Lovely park to have a nice walk round with quite a few different areas to explore including the Kibble , the rose garden and the greenhouses , theres toilets and a few small food places as well but this is a place for enjoying the Glasgow sunshine
E. W.
This place is absolutely lovely to visit. Be sure to check in to see what events they have going on. There are lots of places to eat nearby as well. It is wonderful to just put some headphones in and go for a wander with a camera.
A. I.
Car Parking is scarce but it’s worth overcoming any travel troubles to visit GLASGLOW at the Botanics. Lights, sounds, pumpkins, roasted marshmallows and fast food - a good winter’s night out in the open air.
z.
Very nice experience. A wide range of plants for not just plant lovers.
A. W.
I loved it. Wonderful plants from around the world. Highly recommend, great park for kids and a sobering contemplative walk through the world of flora.
C.
One of the best botanical gardens I’ve been to! Amazing variety of plants and even better that it was free! Will definitely be back :)
I. W.
Love the Botanics it is a great spot to go in the day and sit and relax. It has great access to walks around and is a good green space in the city.

Glasgow Botanic Gardens are a perfect visit if you want to escape the city center for a bit. Also if you want a roof under your head when it rains or just wanna see the amazing variety of plants they have on display.
Majority of the most interesting plants are properly controlled, with temperature, ventilatin, water etc. You can see how the staff is working all the time. You'll see everything from rainforest plants, european flowers to desert plants.
They also have plays in there if you fancy that.
O, and it's free to entery.
B. M.
Love the botanical gardens... Dogs allowed too. On leash. The snack van inside serves good coffee and snacks. The tea Room further in make lovely food too. Walking down to the Kelvin walkway is amazing. It is now open after they were renovating the bridge over the Kelvin. The amazing greenhouses full of amazing plants are worth a look. Nice and warm in there on a cold day. No dogs allowed in there tho!
C. K.
Glasglow had the pamis pamiloo this year for people with pmld or wheelchairs to use ,it has a hoist, changing table and toilet in it.so good to see inclusivity in such a big event
J. R.
An incredible place! We spent two hours walking through the gardens and the green houses. Amazing plant life! Excellently maintained! If you're around, definitely visit! The bench that was covered in wool was absolutely stunning! And a bit warmer than the other ones hehe! The ablutions were well kept. An absolute gem that will help you relax!
C. B.
Beautiful park. Lots of places to sit. Coffee available and close by to shops for bringing along a picnic. Lots of squirrels around too which is nice to see.
M. A.
Beautiful and peaceful place in the city, highly recommended for a walk, there are many plants to see and a nice tea shop hidden in the trees.
B. A.
I attended the Botanical Gardens initially with my girlfriend after it has been on our list for some time! It is safe to say that it did not let us down! We particularly enjoyed the intimate nature of the plants with many leaves hanging over the pathways. The best part is that is is also free so is easily tagged onto a day in the West end. It was so good that I took my daughter there last weekend! Highly recommended
G. D.
GlasGLOW was held here and it was a beautiful event, park is beautiful on its own any other day, kibble palace is gorgeous and I love the killer plants room. Big park, lots of place to sit, beautiful views, public toilets, very busy in the summer
A. L.
A very wonderful place. So many different types of plants, a play space for children, plenty of open space for a picnic and the themed events and other activities are also entertaining.
There is also a good wee ice cream van normally parked outside the gate.
J. B.
Beautifully kept lawns and flowerbeds and free to visit. Perfect place to relax and see some great plants.
P. G.
The architecture, statues, warmth and big beautiful flora was everything I needed that day. The best place to sit down and relax in Glasgow (especially when the weather outside is not that great haha)
G. F.
Unfortunately no parking space but nice from inside lots of plants beautiful maintained garden good for photography 👍 …

Awsome garden...lots of trees and plants..

A. G.
Lovely place. I spent most of my time there outdoors because of the rainy weather. I felt in love specially with its orchids glass house. I went to its tea room for a cup of hot coffee and a piece of a delicious cake and found the service very good too.
C. D.
Beautiful park. Which contains the kibble palace which houses botanical plants all over the world
R. S.
Even in the era of COVID - 19, Glasgow Botanic Gardens is treasure of the west end for all who live in or visit Glasgow. A glorious space among a starting to thrive again urban centre of specialist shops, cafés, restaurants and bars. You can feel you are in a marvelous country park with gently slopping hillocks to amble around, expansive lawns to lounge on or well placed benches to sit and ponder deep thoughts, chat or doze pleasantly. For those inclined you can learn about flowers, shrubs and trees; and what gardens looked like in centuries past. A great place to bring children with a well equipped playground but loads of paths safe for them and their bikes and scooters. It'll only get better when the glass houses and Kebble Palace reopen. All this and ready access to more marvelous walks along the River Kelvin.
J. “. C.
GlasGLOW 2018, really enjoyed it. So pretty. Absolutely worth a visit. Obviously the botanical gardens are superb, but there's a wonderful magic in the air. Very calming.
A. B.
As soon as we entered the park where the botanical gardens are, we where greeted by friendly squirrels.
Gardens where full of different plants and different sub climates.
L. I.
The Glasgow botanic garden is peacfull with a lot of plants to see. You can spend there an hours and relax and learn something at the same time. The park in front of the garden is beautifull.

Obsessed with this place. Beautiful gardens with plants from all around the world. The greenhouses are well maintained and feature vegetation I've never seen before. The lawn is a wonderful place to have a picnic. A great spot to unwind in Glasgow.

What a wonderful place!! Sooo much to see & discover in and outside the huge glasshouses. Unbelievable variance of plants and flowers and a lovely space outside to sit and relax in the city of Glasgow
A.
Great little garden. Can spend up to two hours here if you read about every little plant there is. Otherwise an hour will be enough. A little bit windy when I went. Quite an interesting walk through though and recommend anyone interested in plants.
s. o.
Perfect place to visit not only for the high maintenance to the plants around but for a perfect gateway in the middle of Glasgow. Wonderful place
A. A.
It’s really a nice place to walk and look around different trees & flowers specially when the weather is good! Worth a visit.

So much to see and enjoy. From the botanist who will enjoy the plants and flowers, the children who will love the fountain with its goldfish collection to the artist who will love the light and the display of carved statues. and the gardens buildings and fine architectural details .
C. W.
A really beautiful place with hidden features just off Great Western Road. Make sure you explore it all as there is plenty to offer. Well worth a visit.

Beautiful well manicured gardens, lots of friendly people. Amazing weather
r. s.
Really beautiful place. Lots to picnic tables and benches to stay and enjoyed the beautiful views. Also links up to a lovely River walk to Kelvin grove park
S. B.
Stunning buildings with a stunning history. We loved our visit here and it was a great thing to do on a chilly afternoon. A couple of the hot house rooms were closed, which was a shame, but didn't spoil the experience. Really good exhibition about the history of the buildings and the gardens. Will definitely be back.
d. b.
Had not been here for a long long time but decided to take two grandchildren for a visit. We all enjoyed it immensely. The large greenhouses are really interesting. There is a lot of attractive open space and the children's play area is imaginative.
M. 2.
Amazing place full of wonder. If you want to have a treat in the morning, grab a coffee to go and take a stroll through the gardens here. I enjoyed wandering through a literal indoor jungle. It took me 90 minutes total, but if you walked briskly it would be 30 minutes.
2.
Only being honest but we checked this place out as it said to have a look and you should if you are around like we were, but i can only give it 3* as it really wasn't my thing. The gardens are beautiful and well kept and its a nice place to go and walk around (specially if you have a dog and live close) i think it would be a great place for that but not really my thing. There is a really cute little cafe thing there where you can get a nice coffee and scone which was ace! Check it out if you are close is what i will say.

A hidden gem in Glasgow's crown, if not Scotland's...
A wonderful experience for children, adults and big kids alike.
Some beautiful specimens in the glass houses from banana trees to the Magical Vanilla planifolia orchid!
There are beautiful cacti, seasonal potted spring flowers and he orchid house has many wild specimens that are simply stunning.
No trip to Glasgow is without the Botanic Gardens. The little café on site in the manse style building does a reasonable lunch as well.
Give it a try, don't be shy.

Glasgow's botanic gardens are stunning! It took a while for me to find them. Luckily a dog walker gave me some good directions. There are so many plant varieties that are on offer to see. I especially liked the carnivorous plant displays. Everything is well tended too. The grounds are clean and the staff are very helpful. Nice place to have a mooch around on a rainy day.
J. M.
Great place for a wander come rain or shine. Enlivening experience, wonderful and well tended "exhibits".
M. G.
Lovely place for a walk and have a nice cappuccino
M. C.
Impressive botanic garden, it's quite big and free, close to the city garden and in a lovely neighborhood, must visit 👍👍👍 …
S. R.
Lovely outdoor gardens and arboretum, 2 large glass House complexes - one a bit dated housing the more humid/tropical plants and the newer one is much more spacious, with lots of seating if you just want a break somewhere peaceful...and it's FREE!
R. R.
Beautiful, so many plants varieties!
M. E.
Another wonderful Glasgow attraction free for the public to enjoy no matter what the weather is like outside.
L. F. A.
Beautiful place, it's a really nice walk through the gardens, lost of squirrels and birds. Very peaceful, there is a small place for children to play, benches to have a nice talk and of course, beautiful trees.
J. M.
Forgotten how peaceful and nice the Botanics are! ❤️
R. J.
It's a beautiful park and well worth a visit if you're in the vicinity.
I. v. L.
Very pretty gardens, no entrance fee. Would recommend to walk from the gardens to Kelvingrove museum along the River Kelvin.

Early mornings are best for people watching, recommend grabbing a coffee from the shack, sitting back and enjoying the quiet.

So super lucky for a sunny day in Glasgow! Such a beautiful venue with friendly stuff and caretakers. A+ FOR ME and my family
W. S.
A good place to spend time with your family. But visiting greenhouses can be unpleasant for people with allergy.
K. J.
Great spot for a stroll and some pictures. I enjoyed the little snack and drink stand.
L. S.
Perfect for visitors who want to relax for few hours and enjoy nature's garden beauty! There's a lot to learn also 😉. …
A. G.
A great place to spend a quiet afternoon. Loved being able to have a proper tea outside in the sunshine. The day we were there also had a book fair. All this on top of beautiful gardens and glass houses. Easily reached with a short walk from Hillhead underground station.
D. T.
Fantastic for a walk over in Glasgow's West End. It's a very busy place on a sunny day however you shouldn't find it to hard to find a spot to sit and bask in the sunshine. Plenty to see in doors aswell with plants from around the world in the Victorian era greenhouses. There are catering vans on a sunny day however when the weather isn't so good there isn't anywhere to grab a bite to eat in the actual facility. The streets around the Gardens have plenty to offer however and there are public toilets.
E. V.
Amazing. Had soup in tearoom then wandered around the big glass houses. Fab day and would return
D. W.
Great gardens, amazed at what was on display so early in the season. Very well kept with lots of gardening staff keeping it so.
P. R.
Free entry to the conservatories - a beautiful place!

L. K.
Fantastic day out. Soo much to see. The greenhouses are not to be missed
S. B.
I've been to few other botanic gardens..this isn't the best, but it has it's own charm.
Arid house, tropical zone, rainforest - palm region, flowering plants rooms are very well organized.
Deathtrap plants room wasn't that exciting as the name suggests. There were mostly only withering Pitcher plants and a Venus flytrap name board.
B. M.
Beautiful open space in the West End of Glasgow. Kibble Palace and Glass Houses are well worth a visit. There's a takeaway kiosk and a tearoom serving excellent food.
L. M.
Visited as part of Glasglow as my friend is working over the next couple of weeks and wouldn't get to do much of anything, we had a great time seeing all the lights and he even made a creepy friend. The night was cool but not too clod and wet and we were able to watch the light show on the green without to much of a crowd.
A. C.
Great place for a walk. There is a Cafe that sells ice-cream and hot food. The park is really clean and perfect for a Sunday picnic with the family.

Very pretty and well-laid out bontanical gardens. Definitely worth seeing while in Glasgow if you have an interest in the history of the gardens or just plant-life in general. I especially enjoyed the green houses with many different biomes represented, and the tea garden! Lovely place to get a cup of tea and have a scone.
K. B.
A place of incredible beauty. One of many in our dear green place of Glasgow. Plants, herbs, exotic herbology and the venus fly trap!! We recommend the Kelvin river walk to Inn Deep and Kelvin Park. The best of Glasgow's West End

Absolutely lovely. Would recommend walking down to the river Kelvin from here. If you follow it it will lead you back to Kelvingrove park. A beautiful walk!
M. O.
One of Glasgow's brightest stars. A place that has been dear to me since I was a kid. For the best part of a half-century I have played, studied, chilled, courted, walked the dog, enjoyed Bard in the Botanics, and marvelled at the flowers in this imperishable jewel.
B. H.
Lovely tranquil spot with two large greenhouses to explore

What a gem it is for Glasgow to have it’s own botanical gardens 🌱🌵🌿🌾🌴...which are excellent quality and FREE!!! 😍. Venus fly tap and pitcher plant enthusiasts must visit as the display here is huge. A large display of mature and established Dicksonia antarctica ‘Tree ferns’ is just one of the many highlights. Live/visiting Glasgow and are new to looking after houseplants? Visit, get inspired and donate 🥰
E. B.
Really enjoyed the botanical garden. It was free of charge, not very populated, lots to see, or if you like sit on a bench оr a lawn if the weather allow. The glasshouse was the cherry.
b. r.
Such a beautiful collection of Flora! Could spend a whole day here, so stunning!!!
S. M.
Beautiful gardens ideal for a walk in most weathers. Don't live locally anymore so often forget it's there but nice parkland that's a pleasant change from my local park. Have been both in the summer and winter. Kibble Palace glasshouse has an impressive array of cacti and tropical plants. Definitely a good place to go to mindfully be in the moment and clear the head.
Q. P.
Free. Beautiful. Amazing plants created by Allah. Signs for those who think and ponder.
J. M.
Just beautiful. But look beyond the main displays, lots of hidden little plants that are just as stunning as the main displays!!
G. W.
A public park and a wonderful botanic garden. I noted benches for people to have packed lunch in a warm steamy environment admiring the plants and statues. Giant ferns, tropical pond and desert area gave a wide varied and interesting hour or so
