One of the best tours I've ever done. Paul shares his knowledge of the railways and history of this incredible building with stories of the people who lived and worked here. From hysterically funny to devastatingly powerful... this was a cracking tour. Get yourself along. Take your friends, your family, grab a stranger off the street - they need to enjoy this too.

What a fantastic tour
Paul the guide is both entertaining and full of knowledge
Spend about 1 1/2 hours learning about the history of Central Station.
Very poignant part of the tour was learning about the involvement during WW1
Definetly worth it.

We did the tour as part of a surprise for my birthday, Paul was first class, conducting 'Happy birthday' which was a total surprise. What a start!
The tour was really interesting, Paul's knowledge and enthusiasm towards the history of the station is out of this world. To have a tour guide who can be down to earth, funny and as knowledgeable as he is made this tour such an enjoyable hour and a half. There were parts of the station that have a story to tell and Paul put it into words expertly, there is a projector that shows images that really touch the heart. The museum is just amazing, put together so well and a credit to Paul and Jackie who have worked so hard to show the history of the station and other stations.
We look forward to seeing how the work that they have planned evolves. Glasgow Central Station is a tour that I would recommend for anyone wanting to learn about the history of the station. Paul was such a good host, the railway seems to run through his blood and that's why you need to go and do the tour.

On Wednesday 12th October 2022 I had the Pleasure of Being Guided Through the Depts of Glasgow Central Station by Paul Lyons - A Staple of Glasgow Central Station as he has been the Station Manager there in the Past as Well as also at London Euston and King's Cross Stations.... He's been on the Railways his Whole Life.
He Guided Us Through the Bowls of the Station Deep Underground through the Former Red Star Parcels Area, and through to a Small but Filled with Railway Objects Museum that was heralded and started by fellow Tour Guide Jackie Ogilvie...An Aladdin's Cave of Memorabilia.
It was then onto the Showstoppers...... The Victorian Platform Disused due to Dr Beeching but was once one half of an Island Platform for Glasgow Central Low Level Station, which is still operational today but with Service Cutbacks from the 1960s when lines were closed.
There are Huge Plans to Fully Restore the Old Platform by Stripping Back the Hundreds of Years of Railway Grime and Placing a Real Steam Engine as a Static Display along with Victorian Track in the old Trackbead along with a Victorian Carriage. The engine is currently at Boness Railway and should be installed in the next month or so.
Paul Delivered the Tour in a Trademark Kilt with Perfect Glaswegian Humour and Tales of a Bygone Era..... Oh and don't mention Rats! His knowledge is impeccable and there is nothing he does not know about the Station. A True Gentleman.
What Started out as an Open House Event I think 14 Years Ago has expanded into an ever increasing tour....First the Museum and next coming soon the Restoration of the Victorian Platform and Steam Engine and Victorian Carriage Static Display.
I encourage you all to go on the Tour and Marvel in the History, you don't have to be a Railway Buff to Enjoy....You Won't be Disappointed 🙂.
"The Tour aims to open up not just the history of Glasgow Central Station but also connect it with the great social history of Glasgow and its people. Glasgow Central Station is far more than just a transportation hub for passengers. It has been a meeting point for countless romances, a crossroads of historical events and the first sight of Glasgow for millions.
Our Tour Guides Paul Lyons and Jackie Ogilvie, bring all this to the tours. They will transport you through time with powerful storytelling. With emotion and humour as the stories weave through and around major historical events of not only Glasgow and Scotland but also the World, all of which have a Glasgow Central Station connection. Prepare to be informed, moved, and entertained on Glasgow’s number one tour"

I'm not particularly into history or trains but this was one of the best tours I've ever been on. Jackie was absolutely fantastic and really brought the history of the station to life. It was both humorous and tear jerking and extremely informative. I learned so much about Glasgow. It takes around 1hr 45mins but the time passed in a flash. A bit of walking and up & down stairs but there are a few seats dotted around and a water station. An excellent tour from start to finish.

Thoroughly enjoyed this tour & all the cracking wee stories Paul shared with us along the way. Shined a light on the history of the station & the hardships of those that came before us. If you get the chance - dae it !
Mind the rats but…

We were on the tour yesterday with Paul, who is full of stories about the station and brings the history to life.
The tour itself was very interesting it takes you underground to the forgotten victorian platform and the new museum, which we really enjoyed.
We will definitely be returning to see the new additions that's planned for the tour.

Paul was a fantastic tour guide. So funny as well, with all his stories. Would highly recommend

This tour is not only one of the greatest hidden gems that Glasgow has to offer, but it's led by an amazing guide who makes you feel as if you're partaking in something much more exciting than a tour of a train station. I cannot recommend this tour enough.

Great tour, Paul was brilliant and very knowledgeable. You could see he loves the history of the station and Glasgow. Absolutely brilliant.

This is a tour that everyone should do at least once. Jackie is such a brilliant tour guide and she really brings the history of the station to life. The new museum and getting to visit the disused lower level platform were my personal highlights.

Very interesting tour, thank you very much. Can't wait to see what comes next!

The history of the largest train station in Glasgow - hear how the station was built, how it has changed over the years and affected all those who stepped through its doors. Amazing tour of the parts not usually seen by train passengers - maybe not for young folk but certainly for anyone interested in history or architecture. I can't recommend it highly enough and I'm told it's going to get even better in the days to come!

Paul does a great job operating the tour by himself, was taken on the by my grandfather as a birthday treat, very informative and has promise of a recreated underground station with a coal train, if anything could be a little bit longer with roof access if possible:)
