We came here for a tour but we were told by the many stately doormen outside, that we were able to visit inside... ONLY to sign our condolences for the Queen, and then leave promptly. Promptly?! Well then! We said yes please and bowed ackwardly. (Come on! They were in suits, what would you have done?!) What a gorgeous and opulent building inside. The stairwell up to the "Book of Condolences" was quite the regal climb, but much more satisfying waltzing back down...nice and slow, regal like. Nothing like strutting down marble and red carpet. Too bad no one saw us though! We looked good.

Als Besucher von Glasgow lohnt sich eine Führung im Rathaus. Es gibt täglich 2 Führungen zu denen man sich nur rechtzeitig anmelden muss. Wie auch die großen Museen ist die Rathaus Führung umsonst, jedoch nicht minder interessant. Schon das Treppenhaus mit dunklem Marmor ist absolut sehenswert. Die einzelnen Repräsentationsräume sind ebenfalls teilweise mit Marmor ausgebaut und enthalte interessante Gemälde unter anderem zur schottischen Geschichte beginnend mit dem heiligen Mungo. Got married there recently in the Satinwood Suite and it was definitely right choice of venue for our civil ceremony. All our guests were in awe with the beauty of the building and our pictures are just amazing. The staff were really nice and courteous. Very, very pleased.

Amazing building.They do 2 free tours of the building at 10.30 and 2.30 Monday to Friday, and you do not book, simply turn up 30 minutes beforehand. Alas, when we turned up for the 2.30 tour, we were told that it had been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances but We were allowed instead to wander freely on the ground floor as a taste of what we missed so that was okay. The building opened in 1889 with gorgeous Italian marble staircases, and, appears to be exceedingly well maintained. Please leave a like.

FREE tours are available at 10.30 and 2.30 weekdays. Ask at reception desk half an hour before a tour starts as tickets are on a first come first served basis. Very interesting tour with knowledgeable guides. 3 storey Marble staircase very impressive ...the Vatican only has a 2 storey marble staircase!

This building is a great piece of Georgian architecture, both inside and out. Whilst the outside looks grand, stepping inside takes it up several notches, with the marbled staircases and huge ceilings. If you get the chance to visit do take it, it is worth it.

Although we had a pleasant day at a UK citizenship ceremony, we were the only one's who sang the national anthem, as the foreigners that were welcomed to this country did not no the words and would have loved to have joined in with us. One of the jewels in the crown in the city of Glasgow, The City Chambers is a stunning multi level floored building with a grand interior marble staircase. The main banqueting hall is an incredible setting for a party or event and plenty of space for drinks and small receptions. The service is extremely good for events.

This was an amazing free tour in Glasgow. Done at 10:30 and 2:30 daily. We had a lady called Donna as our guide and she was so so good. Just one stunning building when you walk inside you will be suprised at the decor. The staircase is marble and the biggest in Europe. That alone is worth visiting the Building. there is tours you need to check with local council on opening hours. well worth a visit when your on vacation in Glasgow and its free.

Still can’t believe this tour was free! Mario was a complete natural In guiding us around and a special thanks to the woman on reception for making sure we got on the tour after relaxing in a side room and not realising a queue was forming. What a special place. The building was mind blowing both inside and out and a true masterpiece in design. So glad I finally had the chance to see it for myself. Thanks again I love it! Get on the tour for this building as the staff and the building are sensational. It's a interior made up of marble and mosaic with a staircase higher than the Vatican City. Relatively new building for Glasgow as it was built in 1888 but has all of the opulence given it is at the height of the Victorian era. Tour is free and takes between 45 and 60 minutes
