Reviews of The National Piping Centre

I will highly recommend all the people who is Interested on learning bagpipes. All around the world players are coming here to share the played experiences. People working there are all friendly and helpful. I had a very wonderful lesson there. For sure I will come back again . Thanks for all you did. Music and memory is stored !
C. M.
This first visit was for a Christmas lunch with Oddfellows. The service was very good and staff friendly. My Christmas meal was good and the establishment very clean and tidy. Well done, definitely worth a second visit. Hotel accommodation also available but not taken on this visit.
M. P.
Brilliant night at Piping Live! with Allan MacDonald with his hand-picked band and brilliant support from Beira
J. W.
Great Bagpipes. Great chanters and great accessories and score books! Fast shipping and always a curtesy call if something is not in stock. First class service. Highly recommend!
D. S.
Welcoming and well run show though I had to go to sister shop in Otago street, I got what I wanted. Good prices, amazing quick delivery. Check their website for stock inventory.
M. C.
Always a treat for a piper to visit when in Glasgow. Bagpipe museum is a must see.

Our wedding venue... where everything was done to perfection. Building provides a great backdrop with tasteful decor which is just Scottish enough. Love the historic black & white photos on the walls, the stained glass and the way the light shines into the blue room. The food was well presented and lovely just like in the bistro. The service great. The bar stocked with Scottish craft beers and gins impressed the guests.
The organising, management of the day, accommodating the providers of cake, decor, entertainment - all done very professionally. The venue size created a great atmosphere for a party evening. Great location for guests travel and accommodation with lots of hotels in surrounding streets and travel hubs everywhere. Thanks to all who helped create a fantastic day.

Excellent Glasgow city centre venue. My band, (The Jiggers Ceilidh Band) play here regularly for weddings and corporate events and it's got great acoustics and good food. Really good for a ceilidh. It's included in our blog post about the 100 top Scottish wedding venues.
N. P.
Was here on a trip with our high school Pipe Band. I think we were all a little underwhelmed by the size of the museum. They had some cool items, but it was all in a small room. There are practice spaces and classrooms in the building as well, but the museum was a little disappointing.
Y. A.
Absolutely brilliant!
Great atmosphere & get together for the whole family.
A. H.
Perfect venue for my sister's wedding reception. Staff were incredibly friendly. Nice whisky too
S. P.
Tradition cares and its historical memories sremmurd interesting.
N. W.
Although when I went the exhibition was under construction, it was great. Because of the construction admission was free but is usually just a couple pounds. Despite the small size of the exhibition, I feel I learned a good amount. It was a relatively unique experience as well! There are even Chanters (the flute like part of the bagpipe) that can be tried out. Doesn't take very long and is pretty accessible. Would recommend if you find bagpiping interesting.
D. G.
Pre-theatre menu was superb...such high quality for a very good price.Getting married here in 8 weeks and can't wait.Staff are always helpful and so attentive. What can I say...I love this place!
T. D.
When we sat down we got told by by the waitress that the card reader was playing up and had to pay by cash. I asked if there was an ATM machine nearby ro which she replied I will find out for you but never got back to us. So my wife said she had £35 of cash. So we would have ordered more but stuck with a 2 drinks and 2 main meals which came to £32 pound. And just managed to pay the cash with the money we had but we were a bit annoyed with being asked to go out to the ATM. But we left early and apart from that the meal was quite satisfying.
W. D.
Attended a wedding reception.
Pluses.. Beautifully laid out tables. Fabulous food. Lovely canapés. Dinner was really excellent. Wine service frequent and attentive. Evening buffet was also really nice. Plenty of room for dancing and good stage for band. Staff all very pleasant.
Suggestions... more seating required whilst tables being organised before and after dinner. Quicker service for food. Waiters with long hair, tie hair back. Non dairy milk was available but it never arrived. Toilets need more attention.
A. M.
Had lunch there today; fantastic; lovely food; the fish and chips was delicious as was the Cullen skink ; very nice staff and very reasonable.
This will be our restaurant of choice when visiting the theatre royal; thanks again
A. M.
I expected something bigger than what it is, but it's interesting to get to know on the story of the bagpipes and I'm all for trying to play one of them
J. C.
Fantastic christmas party night with excellent ceilidh
A. S.
Restaurant was superb. Mac cheese with salmon was absolutely delicious.
So good, we visited again. Very good again.
K.
Great venue for a ceilidh. The main hall is full of character and whilst it does get warm as the night goes on, it’s a great size. The bar staff and waiters are incredibly friendly.
The small restaurant has a nice little food menu and is perfect for a pre-theatre before heading across the road to the Theatre Royal.
The venue also has a small museum and shop and serves as a charity to promote piping. All very worthwhile.
M. T.
The Tryst restaurant really great tasty and fantastically presented food, but still good enough portions to satisfy! gluten free and various dietary options catered for veggie vegan etc and accessible with a lift for wheelchair. They helped a friend of mine with a visual impairment. (Just one suggestion maybe have a large print menu)
S. G.
Interesting museum. Military history as well as pipes.
L. M.
Visited the venue for my work Christmas party so feel my experience may be slightly tainted by sheer numbers being catered for. The venue itself is lovely, clean, with a nice atmosphere (again being Christmas we had a ceilidh included) the food however left alot to be desired. Quality was ok, amount was small! My group were hungry after the 3 courses...
I. P.
We went to discuss the possibility of booking a wedding. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Couldn't have been nicer. They were also very efficient. Caitlin answered all emails quickly and kept in touch.
M. S.
Beautiful place friendly staff. Just finalised our wedding & paid for nxt week Saturday 16th July 2022 👰 😜👍 …

If you love Scotland for it's history and culture, this place is a must visit. A big part of Scottish culture has been and still is, the bagpipes. It is a small museum, very modest considering the rich history. Yet see it as a form of tribute you offer to a wonderful place.
And for those willing or wanting to try the bagpipes, this is where you go. Groups can get a full lesson or you can have a shorter interaction, tour of the museum and afterwards an experienced bagpipe player shows you the basics. Was great fun.
Many thanks to our guide Tony, who shared his passion for this captivating instrument.
P. M.
The Piping Centre is a wonderful venue for learning, lunch or even my wedding.
The wedding coordinators Caitlin and Natalie were incredible, able to recollect many details about us after a single meeting months before. They were professional, friendly and supportive in helping design a personalised wedding that went off without a hitch!
We'll definitely pop by for lunch in the years to come!
E. W.
I did not know this had a restaurant until a friend booked it. Food was lovely and reasonably priced, service was excellent and a very relaxing atmosphere. I will definitely visit this place again.
H. R.
I recently had the pleasure of staying with you. I found this small hotel to be comfortable clean the staff were a pleasure to deal with. Very friendly and helpful. breakfast was superb loved the marmalade. Thanks to all the staff wld highly recommend.
J. M.
Definitively a place to visit when you are in Glasgow. There are real bag pipes to play with if you want to have a try. The museum shows a lot of history around bag piping. The staff is very friendly. Next to the piping centre is a restaurant and a hotel. The bar is very tempting to have a Gin or just a little snack.
G. P.
The museum provides a nice history of piping and some excellent pieces. Unfortunately the theatre (where we heard several of the competitors) is exceptionally uncomfortable. It's challenging enough to listen to pipes indoors but even more so when your knees cramp and your arse falls asleep.
M. F.
Fabulous venue - staff are lovely, facilities are great and the little piping museum is lovely. Restaurant serves amazing food and the hotel is smashing. Great place to get married.
K. B.
This was a fun and interactive way to learn about the bagpipes, our tour guide was amazing
S. H.
Most delicious poached eggs ever! Had a late breakfast of poached eggs and smoked haddock. Quality ingredients and perfectly cooked. Very good value for money.
S. C.
Really enjoy the food and atmosphere here, have taken family out for meals on multiple occasions and always great service and tasty food. Not a big restaurant so can get quite full at peak times so best to book.
M. W.
Our really tasty meal was served quickly despite the restaurant being busy. Which was ideal as we had theatre tickets for Theatre Royal just across the road.
K. V.
Really enjoyed our night here when we visited for one of the Celtic connections gigs. The room looked beautiful with candles on the tables and there was a handy bar.
M. B.
Who goes to Scotland and not the National Piping Centre? Seems a natural thing to do. Small museum with lots of Scottish/Piping information. The two go hand in hand.
G. K.
Great meal, lovely staff and atmosphere was good too. Really friendly place, it seemed everyone knew each other so it felt cosy.
T. M.
A must stop for anyone interested in piping and the history of piping. The museum is worth the visit and a small but comprehensive store as well.
F. F. H.
Very welcoming and helpful staff on site. A cosy museum with enough to feed the mind about the history of bagpipes in Scotland.
C. R.
Visited her for my sons graduation, lovely venue. The meal provided was very good, drinks not too expensive.
D. P.
A centre of excellence in the piping world, a wonderful venue for all kinds of traditional culture and a great restaurant. The museum of piping, bagpipe shop and world-class teaching combined with friendly, helpful, staff and a great atmosphere are just some of the reasons to visit the Piping Centre.
S. J.
Small but interesting and has a small restaurant attached to it.
S. J.
Great staff very knowledgeable about all your piping needs and absolutely everything you need in one place! Great wee cafe and barnext door as well!

B. A.
Excellent haggis, so good that I went twice during the trip. Was expecting to see some live piping during the meal but I thought wrong
G. M.
Although small the museum provided an excellent overview of piping and bagpipes, covering pipes from other parts of the world as well as Scotland. The items on show included some unique examples of bagpipes.
R. T.
Was here for a week with my husband for the piping school. All the staff are wonderful. Rooms are nice and the food is great.
A. B.

Lovely venue.
e. m.
It would have been so much better if their was disabled access and toilets with proper facilities for clinical ie nappies .
S.
It is a small but fascinating place to visit.
My favourite part was when i could try to play on the pipe.
B. S.
It's ok, but not to large, good if you like pipe music.
T. W.
Lovely venue but way too small and drink prices are exortionate
T. F.
Great place with the cutest little museum... You can also buy some instruments for à good price.

Highly recommend a visit to the National Piping Centre on McPhanter Street!! The staff were extremely helpful, gave us some great advice on chanters and books. The museum is quite interesting too, look out for the old Polish pipes 😳
Our tutor Ross was absolutely fantastic. He is a renowned musician in his own right, but having his experience as a tutor at the Centre is wonderful! It made our trip to Scotland so memorable!
Thank you 💙🏴🎵🎶🏴💙
