Reviews of The Tall Ship Glenlee

It was a fabulous place to stand on! The sightseeing value is immense. It's not exactly accessible I would say. It's slippery also due to the rains and the atmosphere of the location - near the waters. It's cozy. The visit on the ship is free. Just be careful and hold onto something!!
S.
The tall ship Glenlee museum is located near the riverside museum. The museum is clean , provides friendly service and it’s very educational. The entry to the Tall ship is free and there is also a small souvenir shop. I managed to capture some remarkable pictures.
I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Scotland. It’s a must see!
k.
Great ship - fantastic visit on all boards. Really impressive and stunning. How brave you had to be to sail in such a small but on the other hand big boat. A lesson of history not only for Kids. Really a must see in Glasgow.

This was a great addition to our trip to the Riverside museum and was well worth a look. You can look right through the ship and get down to the cargo deck too. The explanations and descriptions were very good and easily understood even for children. Those with mobility issues will struggle going between decks but there is a lift for each of the main decks which makes almost all of the ship accessible, some of the doors have high step overs which will also limit the access to some people. Overall the staff were amazing and helpful and the ship was definitely worth a visit.
R. W.
Had a great time in the tall ship. The kids loved getting to see what life was like on board, and enjoyed the interactive side of things.
They got a chance to learn some simple morse code, and to use the machine.
S. M.
Pretty decent ship, it’s free, but they do ask for a donation. It’s got some good information boards, but the best is just to look around the deck. It was cool to see them renovating the vessel, climbing up the nets at the side. Would recommend if your going to be he Riverside Museum.
J. V.
Interesting to walk through a ship which sailed accross oceans, namely for someone from inland country. Listings are descriptive, balanced in length and information, with interesting real-life stories of the past. With access to nearly all the places and with interactive elements, wandering through the ship is attractive. The rat hunting makes you look around and pay attention in every place. For kids (3 and 6) it was quite entertaining activity. Free of charge on top it's a place definitely worthwhile to see!
O. A.
A nice look into the past of transportation systems. The shop is open to children with activities and play areas. Don’t forget to ring the bell and turn the captain’s wheel for good photo ops
J. B.
Great old ship that has been kept in good condition. Some of the interactive parts need fixing on it for kids. Great that you can hire it out of you wished for events. Free entry as well which is great!
S. S.
The tall ship is very fascinating it gives you some idea of what life may have been like for the crew in years gone by. It's great for the whole family and it is free to visit.
A. H.
I had been to a candlelit concert on the ship a few months before but wanted to visit during regular opening hours so, having friends visiting from England, I suggested here. It was slightly disappointing that part of the ship was closed off for a private event but I shall just have to return another time. That said, the Riverside Museum itself was well worth the visit and there are lovely views along the River Clyde. I will definitely visit here again.
C. C.
Beautiful place where is preserved piece of history. This place can give us idea and visualization of the certain time. Whole ship is with free access, no ticket required.
B. N.
The Glenlee is such an important part of the heritage of the Clyde, of Scotland, of a fascinating period in history. The ship is well presented, looks stunning, well maintained in a very authentic manner. I cannot fault the staff, events team or ship manager. Bravo.
D. S.
The visit was excellent although, fortunately, we weren't forced to stand on a 30 cm square at the top of the masts like all new sailors had to! Good signage, not busy, very good for children and old alike.
S. N.
It was a blast from the past! First time ever did i get to see the interior of a historic ship! You can really feel that ocean atmosphere in there.
a. g.
Do not miss visiting this wonderful ship-museum. Well preserved, you will be fascinated especially with family. Nice coffee corner inside the ship and toilettes.
D. B.
Another awesome Glasgow attraction, which can be combined with a visit to the Riverside Museum (both have free entry). The displays are good and the ship is in excellent condition. Kids will love exploring the different spaces.
S. M.
Was first on the tall ship around 9 years ago with the oldest niece, was b4 my accident so didn't really pay attention to the disabled access ect. Visited the transport museum first then said to everyone to go on the tall ship I'll wait outside. To my surprise they said I could go on. It was outstanding the disabled access was second to none. Bit of a push up the ramp boarding the ship but who cares as I was surprised I could even board. Once aboard there's a lift that takes you to all levels. There's even disabled toilets and a cafe onboard. Brilliant and even better it's free
P. P.
Alongside the Riverside Museum (which is also a Free must see) really surprised by the size of the exhibit, lovely to stroll around the stunning ship and see all the different areas including the cavernous engine room, don't miss this one out.
W. S.
Only had time for a quick look round and a coffee but was very interesting and well presented information with toilets and a cafe. It's free with lots of history. Loved the reflection in the window of the transport museum.
S. D.
I think it is a must see when visiting Glasgow given its ship building past. Free entry. Nice views. Neighbours Riverside Transport Museum.
A. R.
Amazing experience, great fun to walk around, much bigger than expected! There’s a cafe inside the ship, and lots to explore for adults and kids alike. It’s free to visit so something fun to do if you’re on a budget x
R. L. (.
Absolutely wonderful. Please take change for a donation. Deffo more to see than you would have though. (Believe you can Organa private events such as weddings)
D. C.
Lots to see and do at the Museum. Kept a 8 year old and a 10 year old occupied for 4 hours. Free admission - car park was £6.40 for 4 hours.
S. O.
Lovely looking old ship. Sadly closed the day we visited the neighbouring Riverside Museum, but peered aboard and it looks a brilliant thing to visit.
M. D.
A piece of history in Glasgow. This ship has three floors and you can see many cabins, where sailors stayed during the cruise. The entrance is free.
a. w.
Great ship. Get to see what it was like when it was in service. There was a wee craft bit there . Nice wee cafe.
A. D.
I like ships so I like this one too. You can visit the cabins and lower deck. Since it's for free it's even nicer :)
I. S.
It's next to the Riverside Museum, worth visiting. You can learn quite a lot about the history of the ship.
M. W.
Great museum.. free to go in & lots to see. Worth the visit
Z. S.
Very impressive... I think this is the most interesting destination in Glasgow!
M. W.
I exhibited at an event on Glenlee. What a unique venue! Lovely lunch too.
S. B.
Excellent extra of the museum. Great ship with lots of interesting facts along the way
I. D.
Found the ship featured on tourist website. Had a couple of hours to spare and visited with family and 2.5 year old grandson. Very welcoming attendant. Grandson in his element exploring this wonderful historic site in an exceptional visitor centre. Would rate very highly alongside the dockland museum. Great experience for all ages.
k. m.
What a lovely little gem of a place to visit. Lovely interior, kids loved it.
M. C.
Fascinating place to wander round, downstairs to the huge lower deck and to the cafe. Excellent place.
M. S.
The museum is free and it is part of the museum of transport, which is also free. Very interesting
V.
We loved exploring the ship with lots of interactive activities for the kids. Our 3 year old loved the cargo deck.
C. G.
Fascinating insight into the lives of those who served at sea.
Entry is free but it's very easy to donate to help support this historical vessel.
There are a few stairs to navigate in order to see all parts of the ship but I did see a lift to help with disabled access, probably worth checking before arriving.
A.
Totally random day out for us and we had the best time.
It was free to have a look round and read up on the history! Four of us went between the ages of 33 - 75 and all thoroughly enjoyed it. Loads to do/ see for kids too. Definitely worth going
C. s.
It's amazing that Glasgow has this ship completely free to access and to walk around. Really interesting place to visit and a hit for the kids to walk around and discover all the secrets of an actual navy ship. Also thank you Sailor Sally for the Toddlers hour, my little one loved it!
C. S.
Great place for a quiet walk or jog, I also think it’s awesome that’s the skaters come here 🤘. If you get a chance make sure to go on to the Ship and ring that Bell 🔔 😎🤙
J. K.
Great experience for kids and adults alike. Absolutely free but they would appreciate a donation fro each group ( but they don't push it).
Fantastic example of old style engineering and shipbuilding.
It is a really tall mast when you're up next to it too.
I. M.
Well worth a visit and it is free. You can access most of the Ship and even have coffee or lunch.
V. S.
It is an amazing idea to give the tourist the real ship experience, keep it afloat, you'll doing an amazing job.
L. M.
So much to see on the Glenlee..i had no idea it was so big below deck. Lots to do for kids.
N. W.
An unexpected find out the back of the Transport Museum - both free entry. Great example of the type of ship my ancestors travelled in to NZ over 150 years ago. They are a lot more spacious on the inside than they look from the outside!
J. M.
I've been to the Tall Ship many times with my grandkids and they never tire of visiting. Fascinating and the recreation of how it operated back in the day are very well done. Gift shop and snacks available on board. No entry charge which is amazing in this day and age.
K.
My kids really enjoyed the visit. Great history! Kudos to the Riverside Museum team for the perfect maintenance of this very interesting edifice notwithstanding that visits are free.
F. A.
Fantastic museum especially for family with kids.
G. B.
Fantastic. Amazing to be on a large sailing ship like this.
A. S.
This is an wonderful place for individuals of all ages. The ship is much larger than it may initially may appear. There is a wonderful cafe on board. The majority of the boat is handicapped accessible. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. The Admission is free for this museum which makes it a very affordable day out.
D. W.
A fascinating, educational experience. Loved the welcoming and informative staff, and the exceptional attention to detail. I really appreciated how shiny all the brass in the Saloon was.
C. J.
Love the ship, had a lovely wee walk around. Very interesting.
P. T.
It's free lots to look at and things to do for children
P. T.
First time here for a candlelit evening performance. Wonderful setting :) Would happily come back. Safly the Ghibli quartet show was spoiled a bit by one couple constantly whispering behind my friend and I. We told them to shut up 3 times.. I wish the staff would've paid more attention and maybe kicked them out..
M. R. (.
No advance booking required, great way to spend an hour. Very photogenic. Interesting stuff on the information boards - sobering that just raising the anchor could take up to 18 of them six hours. You can have a coffee and a snack onboard if you like.
A. A.
Brilliant living exhibit; great for kids and adults. It's excellent that it is now free, hopefully people realise how lucky they are to see this kinda stuff free of charge.
R. K.
Very interesting I would recommend, I think it would add to the experience a bit of background information about the part that Sir William Beardsmore played in the transport museum ie, he built airships, battle ships, tanks, trains, train carriages, taxis, motorbikes and sidecars and employed around 160,000 people in the west of Scotland..
C. E.
Great part of history to see and touch.
C. W.
A really amazing place to visit, and to think - it's free! You get to clamber all over the place in this lovingly restored tall ship, and the visit will give you a real feel for what it must have been like to have been cooped up in one of these vessels. Fascinating!
T. B.
Amazing ship to explore! It's bigger than you think! There are 4 floors! With lots to do!
The main deck is good to see and ring the bell!
Mid deck has a cafe and different exhibitions.
The lower decks have a classroom and a play area. - Soft play for under 3s. And a few climbing things for 4+. The sack lift we spent a good 30mins messing with!
P. R. (.
Behind the Riverside museum but its own attraction. Free entry but donations of £5 are recommended.
I love the Glen Lee. It is a brilliant place to go and explore and I have returned here a number of times. There is a little cafe on board.
This is an accessible attraction with wheelchair ramps, and lift as well as disabled toilet. Lots to interact with.
There is also a children's play area below deck which occupied our toddler for around 20 minutes or so.
This is a must see place for me.
M. J.
Step back in time and experience ship life from years gone by, kids have fun ringing the ship bell and climbing up the ladder to the upper ship deck. Enter the sleeping cabin and lower deck where ship supplies were kept. There's also a restaurant below deck.
A. C.
Right behind the Riverside transportation museum is the Glenlee. It is free to explore but donations are welcome. You can see how the ship was set up back in the day from the beds, rooms, kitchen and rats!! Great for families. I went solo and spent about 30-45min there. There is also a cafe down in the lower decks.
S. P.
Had a fantastic visit to the Glenlee for the
Glasgow Shanty Festival
E.
Free to enter, can access the whole ship and is kept on great condition. If going to the Riverside Museum I’d suggest looking around this as-well.
J. S.
Interesting visit. Nice restoration. Information well displayed.
M. S.
A fantastic meusum right on the Clyde. It has a few areas that need some TLC, but that moment when you go below deck and realise how large the underdeck is is unparalleled.
N. A. H.
Very good place to visit and get insights into a historical ship!
G. L.
Amazing experience with loads of opportunity for learning! Great for a rainy day activity for kids!
S. A.
Right to next to the Riverside Museum is the Tall Ship which you have to visit, if you are close by.
It really takes you back in time.
The cabins inside are very clean and well-arranged.
T. D.
Reviewing as a venue... I had the pleasure of attending a wedding there this weekend. Beautifully decorated, well presented and packed with atmosphere. Everyone was really polite and exceedingly helpful. Highly re for an unusual wedding venue
B. W.
Brilliant for Kids (and big kids) its free to go on board (they suggest supporting by purchasing from the gift shop) loads of room to walk around on deck, explore the interior and a small cafè on board. Staff are friendly and leave you explore. Well worth taking kids here
J. D.
Great place to visit when in Glasgow...and it's free! Was really enjoyable walking round and it took longer than I thought as there is a lot to see. Nice views of the river. Remember to leave a donation before you leave!
A. W.
Typically enough this place was closed when I got here, it closes at 5pm, which seems very early in the summer months especially when you are trying to attract tourists to the city. I got the ferry across from Govan, the ferry also closes at 6pm again early but a great idea meaning people can visit both sides of the river. The tall ship outside the museum is impressive, in the words of Arnie I'll be back
M. H.
The tall ship is a fantastic place to visit, and a good bolt on to a trip to the Riverside Museum. You can explore every bit of the ship from the officers quarters to the galley, cargo hold, and engine room. There's soft play of sorts for wee kids and other fun activities and even an onboard cafe.
M. M.
The Tall Ship at the Glasgow Harbour is a must place to see when you visit Glasgow. The ship is anchored at the front of the museum and it is free to entry. You'll see the cabins that used to be used by the officers, the ship's engine, her galley, etc. You can also book a wedding to be held onboard this ship!
M. C.
Great free day out 😍😍but I really think the soft play area has so much more potential even if they redone it and charged a small fee, it would be great and also attract more birthday parties there is a niche in the market here definitely 😀
M. Ż.
Very interesting and worth seeing. Unfortunately the lowest deck was closed due to pandemic.
M. M.
Great day out, the kids always enjoy coming here, they love the transport museum. You can bring g your own food or buy from the cafe, the tall ship has a cafe inside.
E. B.
As a all related maritime enthusiast myself, I've enjoyed the ship. There is the ship history written next to the entrance. Free of charge, sadly not lot left of the original ship. On the plus side for others, what they've removed is used for children area, cafe and other activities.
S. M.
Loved the ship. Nephew had a blast. There's a game for kids to play on board. Seeing how many plastic rats could be found and a wee pirate gift bag
K. T.
Amazing museum, so much to see and do, even for younger children, the ship has a restaurant and a soft play on too. Highly recommend for families visiting the area
s. s.
Fantastic free venue( donations welcomed). Kids loved the access granted to most parts of the ship, even a place for a bite to eat.
A. F.
Really nice transport museum. For a love price of free (donation encouraged) it's a lovely stop for an afternoon. Picturesque and pretty neat.
B. L.
Very interesting and lots to see. Some stairs are very steep. Would be good for the kids play area to reopen.
K. m.
Fabulous day out. The museum is great the way it's situated back in time how you can get into the transport models to get the feel. The topper is the tall ship and getting to go on it. Plenty of great photo opportunities and kids love it.
D. A. B.
An excellent day out for all ages. Me: day out for my 75th birthday, brought back memories of growing up and thourly enjoyed it. My niece and her kids, 7 and 10yrs were worn out and exhausted with climbing in and out, off and on all the exhibits.
U. (.
A must visit as on this ship you get to go to the lower decks showing the engine room and storage areas. Kids play area, cafe and an elevator for disability users. Perfect.
a.
Feel the temperature drop as you go below the waterline into the ships hold and see the ' spartan' crews quarters. You can also hire a trip on a fast rigid inflatable here to see Glasgow from the river clyde
A.
Free entry.
Nice education trip for the kids. Kids loved doing the find the picture/sketch activity.
Boat nicely preserved.
E. S.
Good to visit. The entry is free and they're based on donations.
It's near the Riverside Museum (which also has a free entry).
B. P.
Both the transport museum and talk ship are free, however it's worth donating at the charity donor points cos it's a fantastic museum, and we need to keep it funded.
A. C.
It's a boat and has a lot of information posted around to see what was what.
I would have liked to see a more frank discussion of colonial impact but, from a have a fun day out perspective it was perfect.
T. B.
The Tall Ship (Gleelee Sailing Ship located at Riverside Museum in Glasgow. Free entry ideal for kids to explore the bows of the ship and engine room. cafe and lift downstairs with views of cabins how sailors stayed while at sea. Interersting reading the log book in captains office.
K. S.
It was really good and very interesting lots learn't of how things use to be many years ago well worth a visit and you can also have a coffee with the cafe on board .
A. C.
Nice and good experience for the children's as they give some activity for them while entering..
S. H.
Cracking venue on the ship would recommend to anyone
A. W.
Great time looking around the tall ship. It's attached to the transport museum, making an enjoyable visit.
J. N.
Great view from the ship to Glasgow:) I highly recommend to visit for everyone.
J. S.
You can't appreciate the size of the ship into you go below deck. Definitely watch the movie and you will be amazed that this ship is still around and how difficult it was trading way back when.
M. W.
Really enjoyed the Tall Ship, it's just behind the Riverside museum which is well worth a visit also.
But for the ship, there's quite a bit to see, spot the rats game for the kids to look for (Fake wooden Rats) various other bits to keep them occupied, the fog horn was fun and there's a soft play on board, the soft play is a little warn but it gets a lot of use.
They have a small cafe also, great for taking a break, the boat has wheelchair access and it's free to enter, but they do ask for donations and if you can give then it means they can maintain this better for visitors in the future.
We really enjoyed it.
E. H.
Very interesting to be able to see the interior of this large old ship and how its crew lived in there
P. &. M. G.
Very informative. Good timelines and interactive activities.
D. W.
Fantastic museum and the tall ship is amazing.
P. S.
Great place to visit plenty to do for the kids children under 16 years of age are not allowed without a adult free entry there is a café down stairs
L. W.
Great experience for free.
Donations greatly received.
A three mast sailing ship from the last century, restored by volunteers
Great job.
c. f.
Excellent condition for its age. Worth a visit. Also visit Riverside Museum as they next to each other. Need a good half Day to view both if viewing everything.
E. S.
I went with my 2 year old grand daughter and she loved swabbing the decks. The play area did not hold her attention but she loved feeding the bags of stuff down the shute so they could be rewinched up.
C. J. T.
Now we absolutely loved this. It's been renovated fantastically and you are allowed to ring the ships bell! I came with a band for c2c. We had been in seven countries in five days and this was fun. The Captains cabin was like an eye opener and it's a huge boat to learn about and enjoy.
S. O.
Excellent views from the ship. Also very interesting to see. Love looking at all the different rooms on the ship. My little boy loved to pretend he was in control of the ships wheel. Plus he got to ring the bell and scrub the deck! Hopefully he will help scrub at home now!
Ю. П.
Perfect please, like a window into the past
P. d. P.
Spending half an hour on this historic sailing ship is very enjoyable and gives you a good idea of what life onboard was like and the history of the ship and shipbuilding in Glasgow. Praise for the painstaking job of restoring the vessel to its new-found glory.
I. K.
What a great experience and it's free! Lots to see on the ship, very photogenic 👌. There's a cafe on ship with seating area. Kids plays area on bottom deck. Absolutely loved it
T. C.
Very beautiful place to visit for children and older people. I learned a lot in the big museum
B. W.
Intresetin visit for the kids. They loved ringing the bell.
D. R.
Since when was The Glenlee in Govan? It's situated outside The Riverside Museum which means it's in Partick.
G. I.
Fabulous tour. Tour guide Evita was wonderful 😍. Really informative and enjoyable. Wear waterproofs if rain due though! Thank you so much! 👏👏👏👏
T. R.
Very interesting old sailing ship. Built on the river Clyde of course. Had many different uses and owners throughout her life and now retired fittingly in her birthplace. Well restored and presented as a floating museum.
J. M.
Interesting history. Just picked a wet slippy day
t. w. g.
Great place to explore if your in Glasgow.
M. B.
Its a ship that you can explore fully. The only disappointment was that the engine room was closed but you could see through the viewing windows.
Also good that is free.
Amazing to think that this ship has survived and has sailed to far places
K. J.
Lovely to see, unfortunately unable to go onboard as the last admission is 3.30 and I arrived at 4. Maybe next time!
M. S.
Excellent museum of transport and other stuff. Free entry but pay for parking.
S. O.
This is a great place to visit for all the family. Look at the website for Toddler Tuesdays and Thursdays too - highly recommended! Tickets in advance for toddler events but can get general admission when you arrive if you're just wanting to visit the ship.
J. T.
Firstly it's free admission.
I a great attraction. It let's you see what it was like back in the day.
T. R.

Easy ,fun for kids and free
J. M.
Brilliant. It's free and offers a very aithrntic experience of a tall ship from the olden days. You can get around the whole ship and see where the sailors and officers lived and worked.
R. S.
Popped up to the Riverside museum.during the week and was delighted we got into tall ship for nothing. Even more pleased , that it was wheelchair friendly. ,. Managed to get my wee pal Graeme down the lift , to see bottom deck .
Those old Glasgow ship builders thought off everything .🙂👍

The Tall Ship is located in the Riverside Museum. The ship is legend and in very superb condition. She is so amazing, and I am so excited to explore inside the ship. You can also find many interesting things in the ship, also very good spot for taking pictures. This place is accessible from the city of Glasgow, you can take bus, train or hop on hop off bus.

If you're thinking of hosting a party or wedding here, READ THIS.
I play in the Jiggers ceilidh band, and we play wedding venues all over Scotland, but the Tall Ship has to be one of the coolest and most unique venues. Really nice intimate atmosphere, and the space is just perfect for ceilidh dancing. You'll get amazing photos, and the staff we meet are all really nice. Strongly recommend.
p. p.
Kids will love it we did free entry just donation
P. B.
Nice place to visit. Free entry.
S. B.
Lovely old ship with some great exhibits on board. Particularly enjoyed the miniature ship building tools and the explanation of how the ship was built. All four free too, very impressed.
P. “. J.
A very nice place to go and see and spend a good time
E. A.
On a visit to Glasgow with my kids.
We enjoyed every bit of our visit to the tall ship.
We look forward to going back when next we visit Glasgow
A. B.
Well maintained, well preserved ship.
No fee
Courteous staff
A. S.
Absolutely lovely place to live the history of old bikes, cars, rails and streets. The museum is free for everyone and despite that it is well maintained, clean and marvellous.
You can hop into many of the motorway and click photos for a perfect gallery for yourself. Most of the museum's don't allow this. After the old Scotland alleys, the tall ship glenlee is an absolute gold for ship lovers. The scenes of the river Clyde and strictures around is really awesome. You can also enjoy food into the ship.
Upon the darkness, the lightning across the bridge is splendid. really loved this place and definitely recommend all visitors to visit this atleast once.😊😊
G. W.
Great place to visit , good historical attraction.
L. F.
Great day out worth a visit & kids will love it !
S. O.
Fantastic place. Loads of interactive fun for kids. Amazing cafe with reasonably priced food. My kids loved the scrubbing brushes and buckets !!
J. P.
Stunning
I. S.
Amazing wee place. The kids absolutely loved it.
S. P.
Great place for a visit nice on site cafe also
A. S.
A great part of the Riverside museum. One has to go aboard to explore, and stop below deck for a snack.
L. D.
Loved it.
K. M.
Great place to take the kids lots of interesting stuff 👍
A. L.
Second visit for a "candlelit concert" as part of the "Secret Glasgow" events organised by "Fever", whoever they may be. The candles were battery operated, but there were "pure hunners" of them!
A delightful, intimate venue for a musical evening. Look for similar events in "The Trades Hall" in Glassford St.
m. a.
Love the ship great for all ages. Cafe isn't great.
D. C.
Great attraction, well laid out & very informative.
Gets a bit crowded, so to avoid that, go early.
The bell gets annoying.
M. H.
Great place to visit and it's free!
S. L.
Great night at the fever candlelight concert
A.
Beautiful and stunning
J. (.
Amazingly real experience, except hold not smelly as cleaner than when in service: climb the ladders, into the men's bunk berths, ring the ship's bell; stop your kids climbing and skylarking in the rigging! Great little cafe below deck, informative placards; interesting books on ship life and death, and memorabilia from onshore booth. All done by cheerful volunteers.
I might suggest a recorded soundtrack of shanties and shipsounds, and a volunteer showing ropework?
N. M.
Part of the free museum tour. Impressive.
A. K.
Was very informative seeing what life at sea consisted of. My grandsons absolutely loved it to the extent that we had to go twice.
D. A.
Free and right next to the Riverside Museum. Great for kids and adults to have a look around an old ship. Lots to see and do.
e. m.
The santa experience was a bit expensive for what it was. but my son liked it!
G. G.
Wonderful old Lady. Well-appointed tea-coffee salon. Informative film show below deck. Do young people power of good watching it. If for no other reason, letting them see how easy they have it in this modern era. One caviat for the fashion conscious Ladies with stilletoes. Ascending or descending stair's, treads are not the widest. That said haven't fallen yet 😁

Really interesting description of the ship and it's history. Lovely cafe inside. A very steep ramp to get on and off.
L. M.
Always a good wee day out to the museum and the ship out back!
C.
Place had improved in the few years since it had opened. Lots to see and the displays are good with the exception of the car wall that doesn't really let you see the cars. Cafe in the actual main buildings is expensive compared to the one on the actual tall ship so saves yourself some cash and eat there.
D. B.
Interesting and well presented ship which can be visited together with Riverside museum or separately. Riverside has a large pay and display car park.
R. F.
Beautiful shilp and very well maintained. You can see a bit of its history and how the crew used to live during that that time at sea .
D. N.
Loved it !! Had 3 under 8s with me and they thought it was amazing .....the deeper down we got the more fun they had ...right down to the cargo hold .....
B. S.
Fantastic well maintained tall ship to walk on and around. Entry is by donation and it's not part of the Riverside museum so do remember to donate, well worth it. There's a cafe below deck serving lovely food at really good prices and the staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful.
C. M.
Interesting ship. History clearly posted. Brought to life how cramped the quarters were for the able seamen. Captain's enquire bathroom was quite a revelation
m. p.
I visited the Glen lee today bigger then you think you are to wonder about most parts there is a cafe on ground floor and there is a little shop at the entrance it's also near another museum which is also free the transport museum which is also a place to see old and new transport
L. M.
Nestled behind the Riverside museum The Tall Ship is an absolute treasure! Reading through the timeline on the railing outside gave a little insight to what this beautiful ship has been through and what a fantastic job they have done restoring her! Upon entry you are offered a guidebook for £4 or to leave a small donation which I was more than happy to do, it all goes to helping the ongoing restoration after all so why would you not? There is lots of information onboard and lots to explore. The captains quarters are stunning and there is a folder with real log entries from when the ship was being used as a cargo ship. I though this was amazing and so interesting! I was surprised at the small cafe downstairs. It doesn’t have an extensive menu but what we had was lovely and very reasonably priced. Downstairs again you can go into the engine room and there is also a small play area for children, which by the looks of it they were loving! The only negative I will say is the lighting is not very good down there. All the staff on the ship were very pleasant and chatty and full of information which made for a nicer experience, keep up the good work guys!
M. G.
Great attraction, well done Glasgow City Council
A. C.
Kids loved making their pirate hats and playing shuffleboard
R. D. (.
What a fantastic museum and tall ship, different and well thought out its free to get in but I'm sure people would happily pay an admission fee
l. s.
Well worth a look round. See how they lived and worked on tall ships
e. n.
Very interesting museum
R. B.
Very nice museum with free entry
S. H. A. S.
Excellent walk around and free entry
P. S.
This tall ship is superb. I never knew it existed till the day I visited an I loved seeing it. It was a million times better than the motor museum it was tied to. The staff were very good as well.
Even if you only see the ship, its well worth the trip to see it.
M. L.
Really interesting and not at all what i expected. Its huge in the inside.
H. M.
Nice tour with afternoon tea. Enjoyable despite the weather.
t. C.
Took my son and his friend , they loved it all the way through and there is a play area at the bottom and a cafe
E. D.
Cafe on board and very informative. On the ships lower deck there is a kids play area, so it's good for all the family. Also right next to the transport museum, I loved it here and would recommend and even go again myself, I have already been twice with different people.
C. R.
Great visit, all very interesting. Young and old alike.
F. F.
Great place ..love a bit of history staff are friendly and great help they have a lift for the not so able .
I. M.
I was really impressed, shame the cafe wasn't open but good hands on activities for the kids
J. W.
The Tall Ship is an interesting relic of bygone maritime industry. It is fairly well preserved, and very interesting to explore, but I wish they'd offer more history or information on or around the ship. I was happy that the ship was more or less "hands on", and you could fiddle with things or climb ladders to go above or below deck (which has it's own gift shop and little cafe on board). It's an interesting thing to explore, especially for kids who are a little older.
A. P.
Amazing what they have done to keep the history of the ship and great addition to the transport museum also they only look for a donation
C. M.
Have been to the maritime museum right next to it but have never looked at the tall ship before yesterday when I had lunch there. Lunch was very nice and the staff are all friendly. Only had time for a quick look round but will certainly make time to get back for a longer visit. Free entry means they rely on support from the cafe and gift shop, so if you are in the area it is well worth a visit.
M. C.
Such a well preserved ship with so much documentation and information and records on its history.
J. C.
Tall ship good for kids just need to be careful cafeteria not very good staff couldn't understand stand English
L. R.
Fabulous place, steeped in transatlantic history. Step aboard and you are there! your just in a different location on the same ship.!
E. W.
THIS TALL SHIP IS COMPLETELY DISABLED ACCESS FRIENDLY
I went to visit the tall ship thinking that I'd only get on the upper decks Because of the wheelchair but was told by a staff member that it is entirely wheelchair friendly almost passed out with excitement because I am a big ship enthusiast. When I got on the ship it got even better it is so interactive. Some examples you know you get the board of the information about the museum these give you questions you have push two buttons to much the question to the answer if you get rated it gives you green. Morse code machine you have to keep up with it. They have moping So you can see how good as a sailor you'd be buy morning the deck. They have a grain elevator for the kids to play. Block and tackle to lift a bag but it set up different block and tackle so the kids can see how easy it gets to move the bag with more blocks and tack. They have to find the rat game for the children. They had kids play area for the younger kids. The thing to smell some of it stunk awful. There was a beautiful corner at the back of the ship where you could watch a video about sailing ship. So this museum covers everyone from your history enthusiast to your little toddlers. You can get a ship's guide in several different Languages. There is a lovely little cafe in there which sell toasties cake s, and tea didn't have the opportunity to go in but what could smell was amazing also had a gift shop with your usual maritime stuff and kids toys it's had gorgeous jewelry another place I'd recommend to get someone's birthday present. Disabled access the ramp to get up to the ship is a bit steep but just ask a member of the ship's staff to give you a hand they are more willing to help but after that it's friendly for such an old boat they've done an excellent job they have a disabled toilet on board too. You can also rent the ship for private functions which would make a beautiful place for a wedding I think. I highly recommend a visit here for the family.
E. E.
Very nice place.
P. M. D.
Very nice boat. Very well presented and preserved.
D. N.
Amazing, well worth a day out for kids and adults, cafe inside and also a kiddie play area
L.
Very interesting and lots of information. Great for kids and adults and there's an unsigned cafe on board.
A. E.
Lots for kids to do, even a mini soft play. But definitely not buggy friendly - lots of steep staircases. Free with a suggested donation. There's a little gift shop and cafe too.
J. I.
The Glenlee is a great example of a tall ship. The ship is well preserved and is an excellent floating museum. Great exhibits of the history of the ship are very interesting and well presented. The ship has a good cafeteria that is reasonably priced. Some if the stairways are a bit steep as you would expect on an old ship, care is required if you have children with you. Well worth a visit.
M. W.
Was there on a sunny day, great to have a look around. Free entry too, just behind the museum.
P. M.
the ship and museum are well worth a visit
L. R.
Wonderful and fascinating history of a trading ship plying its trade around the world. And surprisingly very interesting for my Spanish guests since it featured so strongly in their history too. Excellent reconstruction work, information and presentation helped by keen volunteers.
A. M.
Great for sightseeing and lovely setting inside. A nice experience. Worth a visit definitely inshAllah
D. F.
Free access (donations welcome), great opportunity to jump onboard!
D. T.
Really nice to see the history of this lovely old shop preserved. It's a must visit, free entry and won't take all day to see it. Kids will love. And it will bring out the inner child in any adult too.
A. M.
I volunteered here for a year, so know the geography & history of it well. My grandson is six, so I thought that he'd be interested in The Tall Ship as there is so much to see & do for children & adults .
We stood on the prow, enjoying the view on the River Clyde, he rang the ship's bell.& swabbed the deck.He loved it.
There is a restaurant with a smallish snack menu, but served well by the staff. I bought a Pirate's cutlass set as my grandson looked at it longingly. There were many toys &gifts for people of all ages & the prices were reasonable.
The ship has been renovated beautifully to perhaps what it looked like when it sailed the high seas all over the world to pick up it's cargo. It is all of great interest, the Captain's quarters, the cargo area, the area where the crew slept & dined& so much more.
I have given 4 stars because the entry is free, but there was pressure at the entrance to buy a guidebook,or donate. We spent a fair amount in the cafe& the shop to contribute to the preservation of the ship.
K. C.
It's a great place to visit if you like history. Well preserved and protected. It's a reminiscence from the past, helps you gather the life style, clothing and transport used to be in medival past. Riverside museum is also near by.
M. B.
Well worth a visit, it sits behind the transport museum. The river would be full of ships like this in the past. Restored and well presented. Free entry, donations welcomed . Car park charg was about £6.00.
S.
A cool glimpse of how sailors used to operate the ship, their living quarters and what their life was like.
K. B.
This was beautiful, we got to explore and see how they lived at sea, months at a time.
S. P.
Amazing! Free for a start, a fascinating place to visit, the transport museum that it's moored next to is an amazing place its self (and also free). But when you think that this ship sailed around the world something like 5 times, and around Cape horn 15 times! Inside feels bigger than outside, but imagine being on a ship like this, loaded to the plymsol line, and pitching about in the open ocean.
A. H.
Great fun with family. Lots to see and explore. Be aware of steep stairs, trip hazards and head knock hazards.
Restaurant OK but by 2pm on our visit they had no soup left or baked potatoes.
A. L.
Built 1896. Very few remain to be visited. Excellent experience
L. C.
Well worth the trip. Lots to see on all levels.
K. B.
Had a lovely time visiting this.Lovely cafe could do with a bit more choice for kids. However the soft play area is in dire need of some attention very badly worn. And we also had to use your baby change facility for our 4 year old disabled son who is in wheelchair. Your baby change facility table is disgusting my husband has to put his jacket down so we change him x
G. C.
Very interesting ship. Three levels with lots too investigate and nosey at. Available for private parties. Cafe is OK but nothing special. Kids small play area. Not for a day out but worth the nosey whilst at Riverside museum.
j. B.
Fascinating insight into how these ships were worked. Lots of info on the history of a lost age.
A. M.
Wonderful experience for both kids and adults. There was a lovely lady (entertainer) on the ship today singing sea shanties. Made my day. 😊 😊 😊
J.
Very good kids really enjoyed it
A. B.
Worth extending a visit to the riverside museum and going into the tall ship. It's free although they do ask for an optional donation. Some things to do with the kids; scrubbing the decks, games and there is a free soft play in the lower deck.
P. D.
Wonderful experience thoroughly enjoyed it my grandchildren did enjoy running about and playing the games
A. D.
Fantastic.
All free to visit.
F. C.
Great museum
The tall ship is much larger than I expected it to be and is a must see. Be sure to go to the lower decks and the engine room.
The tall ship is located next to the new transport museum which is also a great place to visit while in Glasgow. So much to see you will need at least 3 hours here
Like most of the museums in Scotland admission is free.
M. B.
Beautiful boat just in front of Riverside museum. Loved the information about life at the ship ⛵
T. R.
Amazing place! Definitely recomend the visit.
R. B.
Absolutely fascinating to be in. I must admit whilst there is a lot of information available I did feel it could be filled with more interesting parts of history.
I do however recommend a visit if you are going to the transport museum. Also, there is a cafe but I am unaware of if it's good or not. If I attend again I'll be sure to update.
J. D.
Great place. Sadly not much explained about living on the ship or colourful marrime legends.
n. m.
Great museum. Quite modern history wise. Very nostalgic if you where driving in the eighties. Very wheel chair friendly plus a decent restaurant on site. I can recommend a visit to this place.
H. C. M.
Been here twice after visiting the transport museum, the boat is some size, deck is huge, interesting to see inside the boat , is good for kids & has. Wee cafe on the bottom, also toilets inside which we're clean
S. W.
Wow!
It's free, so I wasn't expecting huge amounts. I was wrong. It's a great experience. The ship has been restored brilliantly with really good access. Very interactive for children and loads to see. Highly recommended.
M. M.
An amazing place to visit, good for both kids and adults. It is free to visit and you do not need to pre-book tickets.
S. F.
Excellent visitor attraction. Lots to see from the relative luxury of the officers cabin to the bare essentials of the crew area. Informative video, scrub the decks, ring the bell. Something for everyone.
D. M.
Went to the tall ship to attend a jazz concert, all seats were socially distanced and the bar was opened. A very enjoyable concert.
P. S.
Love the Tall Ships! This one was restored after being rescued, and has a fascinating history.
A. L.
Excellent our grandson love it
I. H.
Great to see how things were
A. K. J.
Well worth a visit with the exhibitions taking you back into past periods. Bus service from Glasgow city centre takes you the front door. Large car park if you drive there. Right on the banks of the River Clyde. There is a cafe on site.
S. G.
A great day out, free entry with lots to see and do.
G. H.
Interesting to look around and great views along the river from the deck. It won't take most people more than 45-60 mins to go round. Best combined with a visit to the transport museum.
G. R. R.
Nice place very first time I entered into the tall ship like this an very excited and enjoyed the movement
S. A. H.
Good experience for family. Next to famous museum building designed by Architect Zaha Hadid (Iraqi & British).
Parking charges is higher.
Unfortunately the day we visited this place the toilet was out of service.
n. w.
Well maintained ship, but haven't marked the wheelhouse of the ship. Other than that.... beautiful.
k. m.
Always fun for a 6 year old
m. e.
Great panto venue..,
A.
Did not have time to view but took some photos.
s. l.
Nice place and entry free
a. g.
The ship it's self is fascinating to go round and is free entry but what I didn't like was what I felt was quite a pushy way I was made to feel guilty by not off setting my free entry with the purchase of what i believe was a £5 guide book. For historians and photographers there's a lot to see, read and photograph
S. H.
Great add on to your day at the Transport Museum.
L. T.
Good free place to go. Cafe lunch was terrible kids sandwiches were a like plastic cheese. Egg salad was like vinegar. A would stick to tea & a cake next time.
I. O.
Great free attraction, loads to see and do on it, great views to and down the Clyde from the bow and stern. Kids mini soft play on the bottom deck, gift shop, cafe, etc. Plus the obligatory giggle at the "poop deck"
P. K.
Best place to see the evolution of engines
b. m.
Loved it and it was Freetown board
張.
Excellent experience for old boat!!! Must come
K. D.
Amazing view from the ship, really nice family day out destination.
C. F.
I wasnt sure what to expect when i went on board. I thought it looked small and only had one deck.
I was totally wrong, its massive and filled with deck appon deck of really interesting artifacts which have been lovingly resored.
Staff where very helpful in pointing out lift access.
My favourite area was the poop deck and uou must climb the stairs to the upper decks for fab views of the clyde and Glasgow.
I. K.
Good transport museum plus history of the clyde. Then you have rhe tall sailing ship been restored to great standard. Coffee n refreshments excellent. Well worth a visit.
R. V.
Amazing amazing amazing is what I can tell about it. What a feel to be inside that tall ship. It is really majestic. The way it is preserved to give visitors a visual treat is commendable. Love it.
L. M.
A really cool experience
C. F.
Absolutely adored the whole experience of exploring a cargo vessel of the early 20th century.
P. S. S.
Free tour of this ship was very useful.
D. N.
Extra attraction at the Transport Museum is the “Glenlee” tall ship which you may board (no charge). Decks, masts and cabins may be explored. You can also go below, to two deck levels to see exhibitions, café and shop.
W. W.
This attraction is just amazing! Free entry but please give donations to the up keep of the ship. Once inside the place is just amazing...go visit
b. h.
Very interesting
G. S.
Interesting history gorgeous ship great fun for kids x
P. L.
A well preserved example of a 19th century iron hulled sailing ship with a very interesting history. A visit here is free entry, there is disabled access and a very good on board coffee shop.
J. G. L. V.
We visited The Tall Ship at Riverside in Glasgow, Scotland after attending 2016 International Blair Atholl Scottish Jamborette. Our Scouts were scattered in all Scotland during several days doing the hospitality program where overseas Scouts stay at home of Scottish Scouts. The adults used these days to explore Scotland and the Three Masted Barque Gleenlee on River Clyde was one of the highlights. We explored all decks and exhibits to know more about maritime history in Glasgow.
S. B.
Shows you the whole ship, cargo hold and all. Free entry which is great. The rooms have little tidbits that make it more interesting to explore.
J. B. F. H.
Hugely beautiful and amazingly accomplished. For people who love old ladies on the water this is a super good visit.
J. O.
There is so much for everyone to see and do you need hours to do it justice there is also the transport museum on the same site all free entry ,but donations gratefully accepted to help with the upkeep, hungry try the café.I give this 10outof10
M. M.
Had great fun with my 4 year old daughter. She had great fun exploring above and below deck. Especially the soft play area.

A. C.
Amazing,fun,clean,staff were great
Tall ship was fantastic
T. R.
Amazing venue for ana Amazing night. Couldnt fault it. Thank you
A. M. S.
Good things come if its free ! What i like most about this Museum is, it is just next to (behind) the Scottish Transport Museum. Make sure you visit the Transport Museum first, check what is inside and then you can go here.
G. M.
Yeah it was okay, a nice place for a walk around. I'm sure kids will love it. Not too much for adults though.
J. S.
They were able to legally raise the pirate flag because it is a stationary structure and no longer a ship!! :D
A. T.
What an amazing place! So much to look at and see inside the museum. Don't forget to check out the tall ship outside!
K. V. A.
Loved this. The vessel is massive and you need to go on board and have a look around to truely appreciate the scale of this thing. Also a very informative exhibit, a must visit!
S. B.
Great place and very interesting
D. O.
Learn it all about big ships!
O. M.
My kids loved the tall ship.
D. P.
A really interesting attraction. Couldn't recommend a visit highly enough. Full of history about the ship and information and displays regarding what life was like aboard, while the ship was in service.
G. s.
It's like the Tardis .
Bigger on the inside. Good family fun.
N. A.
Attended a private function and had an amazing time. The setup is great, though I think it was the new catering company that done such a fantastic job.
T. F.
Well presented and very interesting.
D. B.
Great to visit. Kids will love it, adults too. Adjoining Transport museum is superb. One of the best museums in the world.
C. D.
The ship is great, but they should have it lit up at night. It used to be. Must have ran out of light bulbs or the electricity bill is too expensive. What a pity
m. b.
Great experience Lots to do
K. M.
Captures some hopes from 'the age of empire', built in 1896 four years before the next great age - that of ambition. Britain started to fall behind resulting in the Great War of ambition 1914-18, where the compact diesel engine was perfected in German U-boats and a pair fitted to the Glenlee in 1922 for her role as general cargo ship, now connected with this handy museum of transport. Of course India was always a leader in Wootz steel and Damascus blades but this great ship signifies global trading, the survival of the fittest and most efficient, rather than of the best. Today we have many not so good Indian restaurants, the country is top spice producer but they have fridges and freezers whereas in the Middle Ages a substance was needed to disguise the taste of spoiled food. The spice trade was more important in the age of empire. Freeloaders prefer this place but nice Indian food comes at a price. 😁
G. S.
This is great, free to go on board, they ask for donations which I was happy to do. There is plenty to look at and explore, kids big and small love ringing the bell!

G. R.
The Glenlee is a nice attraction to see when at the Riverside Museum. Set out more for kids and events than a museum
D.
Well worth a visit if you're visiting the Riverside Museum anyway. Just be careful to check the opening times in advance at it often seems to be closed for events.
K. J.
Exceeded my expectations. Free entry. Well worth a visit. Would recommend to anyone.

D. R.
Great for the weans they loved it especially cleaning the deck 😁

Really helps imagine what life was like on is merchant boats.
There is a café downstairs that somewhat breaks the charm but that's an acceptable concession to modernity.
S. H.
Wonderful to see this floating wonder
J. H.
Interesting to see how the sailors lives on these ships
A. A.
Great experience. Film of a voyage around Cape Horn was harrowing. Very child friendly.

Good old ship to visit
P. C.
Must see if you are in the museum. Make sure you go down to lowest deck. Read the various plaques and boards to get an idea about shipping in earlier times. Also, go to the stern and see the wheel and the chart room.
o. O.
Right in the heart of the city. It was great seeing that Clyde ship still afloat. Great and spectacular views.
D. J.
Worth a look if you're visiting Glasgow, can go down to different levels of the ship and learn a bit about what it would be like to be out on one.
G. R.
Nice experience
