Reviews of Bradgate Park
J. C.
We visited Bradgate Park for the first time on April 9 2022 and have to say we were pleasantly surprised. I had been worried that its close proximity to Leicester might spoil the atmosphere somehow. As it turns out, Bradgate is a huge expanse of parkland with large areas of (enclosed) woodland. Parts were steep and rugged, like Dartmoor, and there's a folly on one hill and a war memorial on a nearby hill. It has an open, airy feel and the hills offer beautiful views across the countryside. Even the city doesn't look too bad from up there! As we walked we kept discovering new areas, it seemed never ending. Some of the ancient trees are amazing, and it was good to see deer still roaming as they would have done hundreds of years ago. Our main purpose, however, was to see the childhood home of Lady Jane Grey, which was obviously a grand and beautiful place in its day. We were slightly disappointed that we couldn't go in the ruins (there was a sign saying something about deadly nightshade?) but it was time to be heading off anyway. For that reason, and the fact that the toilets at the car park (Newton Linford) were not clean or in good working condition, I'm only giving 4stars. Still, we'll definitely be returning to explore some more, as we haven't seen it all and want to try the tea room.

Beautiful place, caught on the off chance of looking for places to go. Its a 20 mile drive from us yet we've travelled further for less of a view or walk. Absolutely stunning place. Definitely going again with a all day ticket. The deers were a added plus I loved seeing them that close very human friendly but didn't want to get to close to them as of course it is there land not ours
C. C.
I love this place. I discovered it the day I visited and it was a really enjoyable visit. Seeing the beautiful wildlife roaming free was great. I took my DSLR camera with me, and I'm so glad I did. I'd recommend this place to anyone who loves the outdoors and wildlife. Even those who enjoy photography!
C. C.
Great place to visit - lots of space for a picnic, plenty of hills to climb, the ruins of an old Tudor manor house (Lady Jane Grey's childhood home), a cafe and a tearoom (we didn't visit either so can't comment much on that) and parking on-site which can be paid for either by card/cash. The only negative was the toilets which while present are rather basic and could do with better maintenance and cleaning (I took a star off for that). BUT a very enjoyable day altogether and we cannot wait to return!
A. B.
Great place to grab some air. Try and keep an eye open, some areas insist your dog is on a lead because of deer roaming free. Great to visit outside of the weekend to avoid the bustle. Definitely somewhere to visit.
J. F.
Lovely day out for families, lots of space for children to play, climb trees/rocks, kite flying and even play in the river/water bed. Bringing a picnic will benefit and make the day more enjoyable if planning a long day out.
Great for photography, Deer roam free but please be careful and leave them in peace and keep dogs on leads.
On-Site cafe with waffles, coffee, tea and soft drinks next to a reservoir to enjoy on nice warm summers day and also you get great views of Leicester and surrounding countryside.
Definitely recommend 10/10

One of the most outstanding and wonderful place for families and friends to have a picnic, party or gathering! The park has washroom in few places on both entrances and in the middle which is kept clean and tidy by the park administration! I do recommend it to all of my family members and friends! Thumbs up!
C. B.
Very wet weather so we couldn't see any deers, but the park is clean and the ruins made it such a romantic place to be in a rainy day.
We will have to come again when the weather is better, to explore more.
The parking is very large and the toilets are just at the entrance. A bit dark, but very clean.
M. D.
Stunning park lane. Car parks get very full, there are two, one at either end. The one in Newtown Linford is much bigger and has good facilities. Cash is needed almost everywhere including the car parks. No space? Swithland Wood has an overflow car park.
The wild deer are amazing, and the ruins are a lot less ruined than I thought, with plenty of photo opportunities. Visitor centre is fantastic and perfect for adults and kids with some interactive stuff too.
t. m.
Nature friendly site with lots of deers roaming around , you can spend a whole day with family and kids in this park. The place is pram friendly. You can either choose the trail path or hike path. If weather permits, you can have a lovely picnic with family.
J.
Its a very huge park good for long walks. I liked the park as it had many beautiful sports and could see deers very closely. My children enjoyed it. Only disadvantage is that there is dog poo or deer poo everywhere.
F. N.
Great Park, big open and majestic. Always be respectful of the local antlered natives and all the creatures that call this park home. It's a very big park, the experience at Bradgate Park is amazing considering you only pay for parking. Great place to take kids, walk the dog or just a picnic on the occasional sunny day. Worth a visit!
K.
Must, for a family day out. Such a great deer park, to vist for all. Clean and excellent facilities. So much to see and do, walking routes for all fitness abilitys. Great for picnics and walking, bike rides.
D. S.
The Bradgate Park is a stunningly beautiful park in the outskirts of Leicester. Many families come there on weekends and many picnic there too. The walk Inside the park is a truly wonderful experience with the fairytale picture book view of the landscape.
P. W.
A lovely place to spend a couple of hours. Good sized car park at Newton Linford (ANPR barrier controlled, pay on exit). Level tarmac surfaced path follows the river from the car park to the ruins of Bradgate House, about a three-quarter mile walk. Beyond this I understand there is a visitor centre with various facilities although my walk did not take me that way. From the ruins it is possible to take a gentle stroll up hill through the deer park to Old John Tower to take in the views before returning to the car park. Adjacent to the car park there are toilets and a café. Popular with dog walkers, but dogs need to be kept on a lead in certain areas. Allow 2-4 hours for a visit and a decent walk. A map of the park showing facilities and attractions is available on the local authority website for download.
A. C.
A beautiful historic park, going back hundreds of years. Good for wheelchair users, along with rough terrain for good walkers. Loads of Fallow and Red dear to see easily also. Cafe in the middle for refreshments, what's not to like!!.
V. C.
A nice place one should visit. Deers are main attraction here. We saw group of deers near to entrance wandering in the mazes. A place with a long or short walk and reservoir also we can see through the woods. This place is one of the tourism attraction in the city of Leicester.
M.
Lovely natural beauty full of cute deers. Clean air, peace and quiet. Perfect for families. For more adventurous people the is a historical attraction called Old John Tower in the park that requires a good physical condition.
V.
Bradgate Park is an amazing open green space that most people take for granted. There are plenty of different routes and paths to choose from, although the terrain can be hilly and get muddy underfoot after bad weather.
Good amount of parking (at cost) and a nice cafe, you can stick to the main tarmac path or branch off. Lovely wildlife including wild deer. Would recommend.
S. O.
Amazingly beautifull place, I enjoyed every view of the park. Its huge and full of natural beauty. Alot of deers roaming around, swans and ducks in the river flowing along the walking area throughout the park. Small waterfalls are awesome and the sound of water is acstatic.
Cafe and washrooms are available inside. All the cafe inside park are accepting only cash.
D. W.
Great place, always busy at weekends, more so on bank Holidays - stay away around Xmas day, boxing day and new yrs day 😉 unless you don't mind crowds and carparks pretty full too. Less people at highcross on boxing day 😁 Obviously popular... personally try to go in the week, early morning or odd days off. Enjoy x
A. M.
Amazing scenery, lovely walks, plenty of wild life to see.
Car park can get busy, even with the overflow carpark it can be a struggle to find a space during peak times.
Plenty of space in the park itself. There is a main path through the middle of the park but opportunity to roam in your own space through the park.
Toilets and a cafe situated in the middle of the park.
In addition to the park and wildlife there are ruins to visit too.
a. g.
Such a beautiful place to visit. Huge open spaces, hills, a beautiful river, wild deer roaming around. Also the estate of lady Jane Grey, the 9 day Queen. Well worth a visit
b.
Lovely walk, plenty to see around. Nice to see deers roaming around. Make sure your dog is on the lead when approaching the deer as it may cause a lot of distress to animals and people around. Parking costs £4 for 3 hours. Coffee and refreshments available on side (bean to cup, not a proper machine )
D. U.
Breath taking Landscape and cool breezes will stole your heart ❤, Highly recommended for the local people for a day out at vicinity Leicester.
Historical place and ruined Palace of 17th century also left some impressive 👏 architecture,
Deer 🦌 Park also a good place for entertainment and offcourse natural 👌 forest, cliff will give you wonderful comfort and peaceful mind...
D. W.
We love it here as a family, we go very early so the park is quiet plenty of deer about lots of birds and great walks. The new camera car park is also very easy to use pop your registration in on the way out of the park and pay.
P. M. H.
A must visit place in Leicester.
Its a good place to get away from the busy city and enjoy some time with the nature. You can find deer roaming here, streams with ducks, vast fields and some ruins.
The place is also good for cycling if you prefer.
Entrance is free.
C. C.
Absolute beautiful place, plenty of walking space, get quite close to the deer, walk up the hill to the old John tower, cafés, toilets, car parking, nice paths for buggies and wheel chairs. I will definitely be attending again.
B. A.
Beautiful Scenery! This is UK's own safari right there. Lots of Deer up close, roaming freely in the expansive fields. Everything preserved in it's natural state. There's a cafe here with lots of indoor and outdoor seating areas. Plus free toilet if you've eaten a bit too much. 😄 You get free admittance into the park but parking is paid for.
Come here for family picnics, a long walk or a hike. Hey this location is not a bad idea for a date TBH 🤪
D. T.
Always a stunning place to visit. Saw some gorgeous deer today. Saw some huge fungi (we don’t pick them just took photos) and enjoyed a lovely walk. Toilets disabled parking and refreshments available.
C. W.
Beautiful Scenery and a great place to take your kids tonrun around and have fun, I leave in Anstey so only a stone throw away too.
Coffee shop really over priced though so best to avoid if you saving money.
The park is great for photography as you have Old John, Lady Jane Grey Ruins, lots of hills, Dear and brookes and creaks too.
Take a pack lunch and you can have a picnic

Really lovely park steeped in History. Could have easily have spent the whole day there with a picnic. Watching the deer was incredible!
K. H.
I spent a sunny afternoon here with a friend who had bought along her two boys. We parked at Newton Linford entrance and walked up the bank of the path on the left side to get of the busy pathway. The scenery is beautiful...trees are dotted around rather than abundant, but it is the open space and the gradual climb of the hills that takes you out of yourself. Amongst the dried grasses amd ferms of winter, spring green grass offers a pretty plain for the deer to roam...and there are many right now in April, sauntering around and quietly munching in their herds. We walked up to the moment...I forget the name...and then down to the cafe.
A waffle cost £3.80 and it was cash only so we sat and ate a nibble with a hot chocolate and a brownie too. The kids ran off ..up..down qnd all over ...rather like little lambs...they are 9 and 13 so the freedom of the space along with rocks to climb over was a suitably physical challenge for them. Sometimes taking bikes qmd scooters just restricts them to the path...the wilder footing of the hilly pathways was way better for older kids with a spirit for adventure.
H. N.
Great park, would recommend. Parking spaces can be limited when busy, but Swithland Wood south car park is within a walking distance.
D. C.
Been visiting Bradgate since I was little (30 something years 😬) and early in the morning it is possible one of the most serene places to visit and see wildlife.
L. D.
A stunning place. Visiting from Coventry, the park was absolutely beautiful and well maintained. Parking was a little expensive, but plenty of spaces.
A. F.
Lovely park, great for walking and sightseeing. With Old John and the ruins of Lady Jane Grey's family home. Plenty of wild deer, ducks, geese, swans and birds of prey for nature watching.
G. F.
Such a Local Treasure, a life long memory something different in every visit. Wildlife is magical, and educational, Respect to the staff and Volunteers whom keep the Park enticing, and Welcoming.
K. V.
Beautiful and vast park with stunning views and plenty of wildlife. You won't have to walk far to spot the park's hundred of red and fallow deer. Walking up to Old John Tower will give you a stunning vista across the whole park. Great to see the deer at sunrise or sunset if you can and the best time of year to visit is late September into late October during rutting season. Plenty of parking although it can get busy on weekends especially around midday. Pay and display has now been replaced with an ANPR system so you just park up and pay before you leave using your vehicle reg number. Payment is by cash or card.
A. D.
Accessible parking, toilets open on public holidays only it seems. A lovely respected and clean park. Amazing views if you take the time. Old John was a many hours hike for me to top but was breathtaking scenary once there. Been many times in past and will go again.
H. B. (. B.
Wonderful place to visit. Nice walk along the paved track or you can go off through the hills for lots of dramatic views! There is a place to stop for toilets or food half way down the paved track which is very useful. If you’re lucky you will spot some deer!
G. F.
Fantastic park with good facilities and parking. It has a lovely easy walk paved all the way from Cropston reservoir to New Town Lindford car park. Great for families, elderly and mobility impared. Old John carpark offers a little more challenging way into the park but not too tough it your fit and able. There are also deer at Bradgate roaming the park. Please keep your distance and enjoy these beautiful animals. Lots of birds of pray too so keep your eyes peeled.
G. B.
Great park but expensive parking £4.50 for an afternoon. Beautiful stream kids can stand in lots of wild deer. A cafe that was a bit rubbish with no food but views for miles once you walk up old John.
b. r.

Such a beautiful place to visit. Much to see and walk around. The visitors center is amazing and the same about the cafe. If you want a nice walk or a perfect place for some pictures, it's got to be here!
G. F.
Always a great place to visit for a walk, can get busy at the weekends. Some great cafes in Newtown Lindford or you can use the deer barn in the park itself. The new parking barriers make paying mush easier.
S. C.
Great Park for a nice walk especially if the sun is shining.
Has history to it too as it's where Lady Jane Grey lived & you can see the ruins of her house in the park. Also a good walk upto Old John which looks like an upside-down Toby jug. Lots of Deer 🦌 roam the park too which are nice to see.
A. M. (.
A beautifully looked after area with an abundance of ancient and veteran trees. These provide complex and irreplaceable habitats for threatened species.
This is a place for a brisk walk or the opportunity to escape for a little quiet contemplation.
E. P.
Lovely walk lots of open land great for the kids to run around seen the deer too! Food and drinks seem a little expensive the plain cheese burger was the same price as all day parking 🤷🏻♀️
P. S.
Lovely park for a walk, with deer and great scenery. You can stop for a coffee and cake etc in the middle of the park itself or at various options at the Newtown Linford end of the park. Parking is charged.
R. R.
Beautiful place
Very close to nature
Saw some deers. Lake on one side and mountains on another side.
B. D.
How can you not love Bradgate. Stick to the path or just roam around the park following deer trails and horse paths.
Following the main path will lead you through the park and past a splendid cafe to fortify you for the walk back.
Love Bradgate park and so does my dog.
T. F.
Was a lovely day weather wise, out for a walk with friends, got to visit inside a couple of the buildings saw a fair few deer up close and terrain was not too rough and tough on the joints, with both paved and 'natural' paths, so good for all types of amblers
A. B.
After 6pm there are free parking bays in the village. Restroom in the park is free. Clean and there is hot and cold water tap as well
J. k.
very clean. Nice place to have a day out.. Kids will love it in the summer ☀️
J. O.
So lucky to have this gorgeous park in Leicestershire, can't recommend it enough for a day out. The Deer Barn is wonderful, soup and a sandwich was perfect for a cold autumn day spent watching deer, peacocks and herons and exploring the ruins. Ample parking with reasonable charges too.
S. H.
Amazing park and a must-visit if you are around. Great for all kinds of outdoor activities. 🦌.
T. B.
Absolutely stunning place. Highly recommend. Cafe was lovely too
R. P.
Great for a day out or for a short power walk. On or off the beaten path, there's plenty to do and see, nature at its most beautiful. Highly recommended.
N. H.
We're lucky to have such a lovely place so accessible. This is a favourite walk.
I go at least once a week.
Note to the owners: I am happy to pay car parking, because I know it's about 40% of your income. But there's an economic limit ... £5.50 last time, and I can't always get the change together ... how about you charge a bit less and people can come a bit more often? More visits, but less cost per vehicle ... you'll gain in the long-term. Just a thought - and I'm still giving the 5 stars.
j. P.
Now the ruins are opening more regularly it adds even more charm to one of my very favourite places 😀
P. B.
Nice place to walk about for an afternoon, even a day. No end of deer, they're everywhere! Nice cafe to have a sit down outside. I parked outside, just 5 mins walk, it's allowed for 2 hours for free, a pub nearer is 30 mins free. No idea how much to go into the actual park car park though, but it's quite large. Big park as well, 2 hours walking around, I just scraped the surface. Free to actually get in, just pay for your car park.
M. G.
Beautiful park with both street walk and "hiking trails" .. deers are around you . Great place for family outdoor walking
K. Z.
It's a nice and quiet place to walk. You can feed the ducks but only with duck food 🦆
And there's a museum that you can go to for free. A cafe that sells cakes and sandwiches, and even food for dogs. They also have all kinds of souvenirs.
J. A.
A very special place indeed and just perfect for quiet strolls, walking your dog and simply enjoying the stunning landscape and surrounding views.
M. W.
Love Bradgate Park, especially during the week when it's not so busy and the deer feel free to roam around more. Plenty of space for everyone and lots of activities for the kids to do. Very interesting history too. Parking is expensive but I think most places rip you off these days.
S. F. P.
What an absolutely beautiful country park. Wonderful walking routes with interesting ruins of the old buildings. Great for a lazy summer evening walk too. The kids loved paddling in the brook and if you are really quite you can see some wonderful wildlife including the Red Deer.
c. p.
Took a nice but chilly walk around here. Seeing the deer was fun but such a lovely park
S. W.
What a delight finding this beautiful spot to stretch our legs and take in the beautiful scenery, wildlife and history behind the old Tudor ruins 🤩 I'd recommend anyone to check out bradgate you won't be disappointed
M. A.
Really lovely park steeped in History. Could have easily have spent the whole day there with a picnic. Watching the deer was incredible!
N. R.
Getting a bit busy in the actual park main footpath now with vans/cars/lorries etc which spoils the walk and scenery somewhat. Wonderful park otherwise if getting a little commercial now. Still a nice place for a wander.
d. w.
Fantastic day out. We parked at the side of the road near Old John's monument as both car parks were full. Its free along the roadside with enough parking spaces for around 25 cars. Walked all the way around past both monuments and down to the ruins. Stopped for a coffee at the cafe half way round. Fairly priced. Pleasant staff.
S. S.
This park has everything. Beautiful scenery, meandering river with mini falls, deer park and historical buildings. Great place for family picnics, rambles, bike rides or just taking it easy. The ruins of the house of Lady Jane Grey (Englands nine day Queen) also within the park. Cafes, shop and parking at several entrances to the park.
M. G.
Great park for a bit of a break. Lovely views and a lot of deers running around.
D. B.
Still a great place to visit and such a wonderful gift to Leicestershire....but so busy and let's not mention the car park charges to a place that used to be free.
r. k.
A wonderful estate. Highly recommend, the old trees, the river and the landscape.
V. V. G.
Nice place to go for a walk or a run. It is full of deers which make the experience lovely. A bit of wildlife near the city!
There are restrooms and a small restaurant with great hot chocolate. Very recommended for families and dogs!
R. H.
Excellent. Plenty of walks and good roads for the kids to ride their bikes and scooters. The walks can go off road and visit the Tor for great views. Wild deer roam the fields and we watched males rutting before the joys of spring. So much to see and don't miss Lady Jane Greys ruined house. Plenty of bird watching for the enthusiast and herons and kingfishers if you are lucky. Great visitors centre with information dating back to prehistoric times. Don't miss out on venison steaks and sausages etc.
It really is a jewel on the edge of Leicester. Plenty of parking and nice reasonable cafe's.
P. K.
Went for a walk today. Loved the peace and quiet. Great place to meet people who also enjoy walking.
M. J.
This place is Beautiful. Nice walks lots to see Deers running freely, lots of birds, nice waterfall. Coffee and snack shop. 2 Car parks I think it was £4.50 for the day. I would recommend getting there before 10am. When we left the park we went to the local pub The Bradgate Inn omg the food was Amazing I had the beef wrap.
A. U.
Views for days! Deers, swans, ducks, fish and rabbits. Very enjoyable day out. Low and high treks suitable for all types of adults and kids alike, wheelchair friendly place too. The question is would you capture the moment or take a picture?
D. E.
Blustery but sunny late afternoon stroll with my dog Charlie. We love the park even when the weather isn't great, it always looks so beautiful.
New parking payment system is a massive help ( paying by card ).
Nice to have the tea shop open too.
N. B.
Fantastic place been a couple of times. Met with a couple of wardens who were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic very interesting visiting the ruins and learning all the history of the site
L. K.
A wonderful place to visit for the weekend walks
M. B.
Had a lovely walk here in the rain, I will return on a clearer day.
The views are beautiful with lots to see.
Plenty of parking at two sites.
Free clean restrooms.
Lots of bins to dispose of litter.
k. n.
Beautiful place, ideal for walks and if you are a cycling enthusiast..
P. P.
Most amazing place to visit. Bit of everything for the outside adventurer. If you want to walk, scoot, cycle, run or just explore the rock formations, river and trees you'll be fine. Great for kids of all ages.
Hard standing road runs pretty flat throughout the park but you can off road too.
Free toilets at the start and middle.
Large open green for games.
Lady Jane Greys former house/ruins are found here and are open at certain times.
Especially love the wild deer roaming through the park.
Car park is on the expensive side.
M. D.
Lots of deer today. Visited the memorial garden and saw a pheasant there. The park was beautiful.
S. B.
Beautiful Walks you can literally get lost for hours! There's also a good van upon entry, reasonable prices offering hot food and beverages.
C. M.
Very nice with a good view at the top of the hill next to 'old John'. Also has a lot of deer and wildlife
D. D.
This place is huge with so much things to do. Wish we had got there earlier, because we felt like we didn't have enough time to see everything. Will definitely go again before the summer is over - earlier next time.
K. S.
Amazing park ideal for walks or bike riding, the stags just walk around freely which is really nice would highly recommend a visits, just bring your own drinks as they are pretty expensive in the park. Only bad point is the fact the paying machines for car parking don’t always work and you end up walking around the whole car park to find one.
E. G.
A massive park with lots of deer and an idyllic atmosphere. And it's all for free. A perfect day trip for the whole family.
T. G.
Great spot, loads of great walks, up over the rocks, very easy hiking for the beginners. Highly recommend
Z. M.
Beautiful park hardstanding paths and a great coffee shop
C. A.
Just stunning! I we had more time to explore here, we saw different areas to stop for refreshments which was really lovely. A lovely lake and lots of different areas for people to explore. We will be back.
E. P.
Beautiful park that has some great footpaths, history, and wild deer

Love this place as do my 2 dogs. Beautiful setting very peaceful walk with lots to see. Only concern was the number of dogs running off lead as my 2 dogs are very nervous and was concerned for the deer who ro free as well. Car park fees have risen a lot as well
A. s.
This is a great family day out, there's something for every level of physical aptitude. We have been twice now and love it. Such a beautiful location and a view for miles if you make it to the top of the hill, we will be returning throughout the year no doubt picnic in tow. very reasonable parking charges aswell 👍
N. D.
Lovely parkland with deer. Very interesting visitor centre. Easy walking.
A. G.
We only really explored the fringes of it in the rain with our dogs, but we got to see the fallow deer and red deer including a red deer stag.
I'd strongly advise keeping dogs on leads like the signs say so they won't chase the deer.
Good waterproof footwear is recommended when it is wet.
P. R.
Stunning park. Deer sightings everywhere. Beautiful views. Highly recommend.
K. R.
Beautiful place lovely coffee shop and country walks even the free roaming deer put on a show if you're lucky. Great for families. Dogs on leads due to the deer.
G. G.
Beautiful place to walk and observe wildlife, especially the deer. Beautiful views.
A. C.
Fantastic place. Great to have such a beautiful area to walk in. Rangers very polite and helpful.
L. B.
Visited briefly on the way home from Leicester. It is huge and gave us the opportunity to have a good walk. It was cold and overcast so we didn't spend as long there as it merited, but plan to return in the warmer weather. It was easy to get away from the majority of people who were in the 'Little Matlock' area.
P. F.
Lovely place packed out weather beautiful grand children went paddling in the stream. Lots of deer and we see a heron sitting by the river waiting for a fish. All round we all had a fantastic day.
L. T.
We absolutely love this place. Very picturesque and very well maintained. The car parks do get very busy. The park is massive and has the castle ruins. Has a very nice cafe in the middle
P. C.
Beautiful parks that are remarkably clean for the amount of visitors. Good parking available and many paths to explore. We had a great day out and will return
J. H. 9.
1st visit in years, loved the varied, rugged landscape, the gnarled trees, the water and wildlife not to mention the ruin and Old John Tower. Clearly a well managed site. Will return again soon.
H. M.
A lovely country park with views over the lake and some nice trails you can climb. There are places to picnic and a visitor centre with facilities. The car parking is paid and they have toilets as well.
Z. N.
Lovely sanctuary. Enclosed with lots of space for the deers to roam. Park rangers are roaming around to make sure that no one is breaking any rules and if there are any problems. Accessible for everyone. Lovely views and long walks. The view at old John's tower and the memorial is lovely. It's a good family day out.
I. G.
A wonderful park with wide vistas and the iconic site of Bradgate House. Nice to see where our 9 day Queen, Lady Jane Grey grew up!
D. C.
Beautiful park with historical interest (ruins of ancestral home of Lady Jane Gray), good oarking, toilets and a cafe.
Lots of hills, woods, rocky outcrops and wonderful population of Red, Sika and Fallow deer. Takes 2 to 3 hours for a stroll right round.
One of my favourite places to get a taste of the hills just outside the city!
A. H.
Love this place, so many memories of my childhood. Great parking with toilets.a vast array of areas to walk with little streams, Remains of 15th century bradgate house where Lady Jayne Grey lived and the Famous Old John Tower sitting on the highest hill in bradgate park. The 360 deg Views are spectacular over Leicestershire.lovely to see the deer roaming freely in their own environment.... Dogs must be kept on leads. £4 all day parking. Go on a Nice day you won't regret it.
D. “. F.
Absolutely loved it here..just pay for parking which I think is reasonably cheap.
K. E.
Great open spaces, great for walks, historic buildings, plenty of facilities such as food and drinks as well as toilets. Very dog friendly.
T. S.
Cold, Breezy but beautiful scenery. I visited xmas eve and it was very busy with families, couples, dog walkers. Lovely walk in the park. Wrap up warm cause walking towards Lady Jane Greys house ruins, there is no shielding from the wind and it can be quite windy and cold.
l.
Lovely long walks. Amazing views from the top. Plenty of spots for kids to paddle in. Free roaming deer. Old ruins. Cheap £3 all day parking (£4 on wkend). Toilets at 3 different parts of the park.
C. W.
Stunning grounds. Ruins of home of Lady Jane Grey (9 day Queen). Wild Deer. Picnic opportunities, walking, rambling, rock climbing. Dogs aloud on leads. Has a lovely stream running through and a lovely cafe. Also adjacent to the reservoir. One entrance at Newtown Linford. Other entrance near Switherland wood.
C. A.
Lovely views and lots of fantastic deer sightings. Dogs not allowed off the lead for obvious reasons
G. K.
Amazing place to walk freely with the stags. loads to see and adventure and explore around the location. Or just site and watch the world go by very peaceful and tranquil. Great place to go for a picnic.
S. w.
Such a lovely place to walk around and see the deer
B. H.
Lots of things to do for a family of all ages. Plenty of different walks to go on and some great views from the top of old John. The car park is much improved now they have a Number Plate Recognition so you can just pay via contactless when you exit.
S. P.
Lovely place for walking and kids bike rides.
Also deers freely walking.
L. H.
Beautiful picturesque walk. Picnic spots, cafe & toilets. A challenging walk up to Old John Tower with other areas to explore. Be mindful of roaming deer!
M. P.
What a wonderful place for families and children to get away from the hussle of daily life and have a walk and picnic in beautiful countryside and be able to get close to nature. Opportunities to explore and practice your climbing skills.
T. H.
Our first visit. The woods were covered with bluebells, very pretty. We had a lovely 2 hour walk. We will definitely return.
r. b.
Woods, rocks, deers, trees...a peaceful walk through the Park and ull come across some lovely views of the lands and deers that roam freely...love the drive and walk x
T. S.
Love this Park. Great history, landscapes and animals. Good grub and facilities. Great day out for people of all ages. Highly recommend 🌲🦌
Y. V.
An amazing place to visit. We had an incredible time with the family. A must visit for us and we'll definitely be back. You can bring wellies to wade in the stream, ride your bike (where allowed), it's pushchair friendly (mostly in the on lead zone with concrete) and overall a positive atmosphere. I'd recommend arriving early. We got here at about 9:30am and there weren't many visitors or cars, but when we left around 3pm, the car park (1) was near full (don't worry, lots of parking available) and there were a lot of people. Distancing was maintained well, so that's no concern of ours. Definitely come and visit.
S. B.
Wonderful, Deer, café, long walks, car park payment only
J. S.
Lovely place for a walk in the fresh air. Can get busy along the main path though.
J. S.
Beautiful landscape with great walks and tea and cake facilities at the entrance and also the Deer barn half way. Trail up to "old John" monument for the more energetic walkers
P.
The park is open, big, with lots of visitors. The deers roaming around the park does make it really special. Overall it's a nice family day out place.
L. M.
family day out will be visiting again during the summer of 2021 ..very well maintained by local volunteer groups ..but excellent for friends families of all generations and it’s free entry only pay for parking if you park on the grounds... lovely coffee shops on site and just a few seconds away from car park plenty to do and see highly recommended
B. H.
Bradgate Park is always beautiful. Any weather and at any time. A lovely place for a ramble to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
A. L.
Great place to walk and have a picnic. We parked in Hunts Hill car park which puts it at the back of at Old John, handy when you don't want to walk very far. Going in the summer brings clear sky's and lovely views, also staying into the evening where theres less people it becomes quite tranquil.
J. F.
Lovely place, nice walk,an very nice seeing the deer.an veiws are amazing.
Z.
It is amazing place to spend a day out with your family. Little ones will love it.
T. C. C.
Sunshine and a light breeze maid a enjoyable walk with a stop at the café for a baguette and coffee.
S. N.
It’s a lovely walk. Scenery is beautiful. You would be able to see Deers!!
M. B.
Lovely clean park. Great for those who like to walk and with dogs. It's so big you could walk forever. Parking charges apply in all car parks surrounding bradgate and Swithland. We come here quite often and it's always peaceful. You see beautiful nature, with the deers around. They do run away being scared of us but still a gorgeous view
k. h.
Lovely place to walk day and night would kero going back
M. A. S.
Very nice scenic family park. Be ready for the long walk and make sure you come with plenty of time to spend here. There are two car parks, parking cost is reasonable and you can pay with card. If you want to see the waterfalls, choose the one closest for shorter walk.
V. K.
Stunning park not very far from Leicester town. Good place for a walk, run or picnic. Lots of deer to see. There is a tea and coffee place as well.
Y.
amazing place for FAMILY holidays . Total 830 acre park and 800 year old.
W. K.
One of a few unspoilt places of natural countryside we have left. Highly recommended you visit if possible. Home to a former Queen of England, Lady Jane Grey. Queen for only 9 days!
M. F.
This park is a great place for a walk & there is a cafe in the middle of it all. The only down side is you now pay for parking.
L. M.
Will definitely be visiting again. Cycled out from Leicester today to visit as I kept hearing about the park. I enjoy photography of animals and plants and here did not disappoint.
P. G.
Brilliant place to walk and have fun with family. We spend hours going point to point. Cropston Reservoir Car park, up to Old John and then War Memorial.
S. P.
Beautiful place, lovely walks and was also there in the snowfall.
J. I. T. L.
Is a great outdoor space. Free if you park on the street 🙂
C. B.
Beautiful place to visit!
- Plenty of open spaces
- Toilets available (inc. disabled and baby change)
- Food and drinks available
- Parking can be paid for using card and cash
- Beautiful wildlife
- Plenty to see and explore!
- Will need to visit again to explore the rest!
A. B.
Lovely place to go for a walk especially on a sunny day! Love the wild deers that you often see whilst walking .
Will definitely be back . Great for people who like walking and nature like me 😊
A. F.
Lovely place for a walk & see deer in natural habitat. One of the nicest places to visit in Leicestershire
M. C.
A great place for a day out, be it for a nice long walk or to just take a picnic a chill out. The roaming deer are a real bonus and a very nice sight to see. Lots of other wildlife to see too. Parking is a bit of a pain especially on weekends and currently only one machine takes contactless so there's always a queue but hopefully that'll change. Will definitely be coming back
L. T.
This is a lovely place to walk. There is good road on which to walk or cycle from the Newtown Lynford end to the Cropston Reservoir end. Initially the walk is along a small river. Half way along the road is a cafeteria, toilets and an information centre. There are lots of pathways to walk up to Old John. There are the ruins of the house of the Grey family. Lots of small wooded areas. A memorial garden.
Lovely views over Cropston Reservoir.
A deer sanctuary. Deer roam loose around the park. There are 3 main car parks.
At Old John there are stunning views across the East Midlands.
I. F.
Beautiful place. Loads of space. (for social distancing) Deer sanctuary is stunning with the deers running freely around you. The deer will come up close. Lots of walks. Great history. It's about a 30 minute walk from car park to the middle if park where there is a refreshments and toilets.
S. C.
Yeah I had a lovely walk. Very peaceful n tranquil. Still a bit wet n sodden up on the hills but otherwise perfect.
T. H. T.
Lovely place for a walk. The deer seem to be more and more confident, and come closer for a picture. When I was a child they kept well away.
S. C.
Well laid out park with water bodies and sprawling walks. Ideal for families to relax with their picnic baskets or go for long walks or play games. There is a historic ruined place with a family chapel. Has an interesting history for fans of history, especially concerning the Royals.
C.
What a wonderful, stunning park this is. Suitable for all ages and abilities. Lots of natural things of beauty to look out for. Plenty of maps to show different routes to take. I had a thoroughly lovely day here and looking forward to revisiting sometime soon.
M. M.
Family day out lots of parking and plenty of walk Well maintained excellent for families plenty deer lots of space to go about, worth a visit
T. P.
Lovely two mile stretch of the legs before lunch...😜😂
C. S.
Brilliant place to visit at anytime of the year. It can get very busy in the summer months. There is a carpark at both ends one is smaller than the other and fills up quickly. A cafe, crepe stall and visitor centre are in the middle. There are also toilets by the visitors centre. Part of the walk runs along a stream and is very picturesque. Plenty of picnic benches along the way and ruins to explore too. Perfect place to run walk or cycle. The pathway is suitable for pushchairs too.
M. J.
Fantastic walk yesterday. All seasons experienced in a few hours but this did not distract from the beauty of the park.
Toilet facilities were clean and utilised social distancing.
A great place to visit for all ages and abilities.
R. C.
I absolutely adore Bradgate Park beautiful views from old John right around the East Midlands beautiful wildlife lovely place to take the family on picnics and just taking a walk round i think next time I go I'll take a drink with me as well as something to eat
k. D.
Beautiful park with lovely views from Old John good walking and a cafe for coffee and a snack. Deer walking around freely and so glorious to see well worth a visit
A. M.
Beautiful park! Definitely recommend visiting!!
V. G.
An amazing park, lots of tearooms with nice things to eat at affordable prices. Gothic church and graveyard. Must visit. In summer time it is difficult to find a parking place so go to it in the morning.
P. H.
I have always liked Bradgate Park, although it has changed a little bit with not as much fern now, always bring back memories of running through the fern and not having a care in the world. Now I just enjoy the walks on foot and sometimes cycle through when I take in a bike ride. Last week I was taking a friend that was new to the park and she was really impressed by the deer and natural beauty it had to offer
A.
Absolutely amazing place to visit. Such beautiful scenery and seeing deer's everywhere and very close up is my favourite thing about going here.
S. S.
My daughter has always been able to find some adventure at bradgate. Whether it's paddling in the stream, climbing rocks, exploring for wildlife, looking for geo caches or bike riding. Fully recommend.
J.
Love this place. Its great for exploring with children with lots of things for them to climb and fields to run in and deer to spot. Take a towel as our children loved paddling in the stream. The cafe was reasonably priced with a large slush puppy at £2.50 and lots of seating available by the cafe and toilets in the park itself. Parking was around £4 for the day. You really could spend a full day here so take a picnic.
D. A.
Great place for a walk and explore with the family, flat tarmac path or the option to go “off road”. Lovely to see the deer. Toilets available at the car parks and visitor centre. £5.50 to park all day. Takeaway for available at visitor centre.
K. H.
Favourite place in the world. Such a beautiful park. Great for a walk or a run. Plenty of routes so no visit is ever the same.
m. j.
Beautiful day seen loads of deer
K. S.
A beautiful beautiful and Scenic Park, beautiful walks with some amazing deers roaming freely.
Ideal for all ages and families, recommend to take a picnic even though there is a cafeteria at the information centre
A truly beautiful day out for all
M. T.
Second time we have been here with friends who live near by. Lovely walk as before watching the deers roam and taking in the great views. On this visit on returning back to car park I was very disappointed to watch 2 gentleman who were collecting the rubbish from the refuge collection stations. It’s great that you ask us to separate our rubbish which I did at the cafe as I’m a very keen advocate on recycling. So to my horror to watch the 2 gentleman putting the recycle waste into the general waste then adding the other general waste on top of the recycling. Then doing up the bags of rubbish you can’t tell me they will be segregated at a later time. If you want people to keep the park clean and offer this facility please ask your grounds keepers to keep the rubbish separate.
M. A. H.
A great park for a day out with family.
Nice weather when I went, the paths are not fully flat but are suitable for wheelchair users. I wouldn’t recommend driving a wheelchair off-road as it’s bumpy and your wheelchair will struggle to go up the hill.
R. H.
This park is always packed with visitors. Its a great place to take the kids for fishing in the stream, feeding the ducks, playing football, climbing on the rocks and trees or just running around. There are roaming deer and good facilities and the main walkway between two car parks is tarmac so ideal for wheelchairs and the less able. (Good for scooters, skates and bikes too.)
Scenery is great and are woods full majestic old trees. It is a great place for photography too, and if you leave the main path you can get away from the crowds easily enough.
N. S.
Beautiful place, deer roam freely. Lots of old oak trees to explore, paths to follow.
L. M.
Bradgate Park is such a beautiful place. Though you gotta be ready to walk over 5 miles to get to the deer barn for some refreshments but it is totally worth the experience. I had a nice time seeing the Queen's castle as well, i highly recommend here.
S. C.
Beautiful park. Lovely place to walk, picnic and feed the ducks. Decent toilet facilities too.
D.
Beautiful scenic views from the top of the hill. Not too challenging to climb up, even for someone a little older. Lots of places for kids to play around the ruins, and benches here and there. A nice afternoon out.
J. H.
You will most likely see deer here. We walked around there for 3 hours and saw about 30 deer in about 5 different groups. Some of them were scared/timid others were braver/sociable
J. A.
There are actually real life Deers roaming about! Parking is contactless, reasonably priced. Park is clean, lovely tall impressive trees, lovely streams, on a sunny day it cannot be beaten for splendour.
I. E.
Brilliant park. Friendly guides and rangers. Plenty of toilets and maps to plan your route. If you venture off the main track it can be quite quiet. Expect the main sections to be busy at peak times. Interesting visitor centre. Brilliant views of deer that are residents here and have their own private spaces.
N. M.
Nature’s trail great hike with masses of deer running wild. You can see the ruins of Lady Jane Grey family home, who was Queen for 9 days. The park is family friendly and easy to navigate. Make sure you bring change for the parking as the machines don’t accept notes or credit cards. It is £3 for the day for a car.
It is very windy at some points so make sure to bring a good windbreaker.
L. H.
We had an absolutely wonderful walk through Bradgate park this afternoon, the sun was out though it was still a little chilli.
Car park had plenty of spaces and cost £3 card or coin.
Covid signs up at both entrances and keep left in large green letters on the pathways. Unfortunately we found several people thought it didn't apply to them and absolutely refused to move to the left.
Also signs saying the deer are rutting and to stay at least 30 metres away from them was totally ignored by people photographing them. I did take photos but from the far side of the road.
Lastly when are people ever going to learn to keep dogs on leads there is a yellow zone which asks that you keep your dog on a lead between the hours of 9am- 10 pm in that area dye to the deer. Obviously once again it doesn't apply to their dogs.
Overall a lovely walk in the afternoon sunshine. Looking forward to going again.
L. C.
Great place for nice walks with a mixture of features and terrain to suit all abilities, these include : river, reservoir, forest, nature, ruins, hills & lots of deer roaming. Take a steady stroll along the tarmac path adjacent to a lovely stream or take a more challenging route up the hills which offer beautiful views of the park & surrounding area. Plenty to suit all! Only disappointment was the deer hut Cafe isn't dog friendly which on a winter's day made for lunch in the cold.
J.
Lovely place to walk, clear large paths and the area is kept very tidy and rubbish free. Many deer living in the park which come quite close to the paths. Lots of people bring their dogs here for walks. Car parking cost £3 as I went on a weekday (it's more expensive at weekends)
M. T.
Wonderful outdoor experience. Lovely landscaped park. Tudor ruins, deer and peacocks. Close to lots of other footpaths.
N. D.
Great place for a walk, but you won't be alone lol
K. G.
Absolutely amazing place for a day out. It has: pathways for those who have kids (can ride a bike, walk with a push chair etc); a lot of hiking roads for those who wants some more activity on a day out; wild animals such as deer can be watched from close distance; river and a lake; public facilities such as toilet; tea room and a lot of amazing views.
We will definitely be back to enjoy some more.
C. V.
Great place for a family walk.
Kids played in the river.
Lots of deer around.
Will come again soon 😊👍🏼👊🏽
I. H.
This is an Awesome country park with free roaming dear. There is a car park at both ends with a good pathway to walk.It takes about an hour on a slow relaxing walk to walk from one carpark to the other.there are two cafes one in the middle and one to the main entrance if you follow Sat Nav.
K. K.
Astonishing place. One of the most beautiful parks I ever visited.
J. E.
Came earlier today, good parking price, amazing location for all the family, dog walks and great to take RC cars crawling! Lovely to see so many wild deer too. Lots of hills and off road tracks, a river runs all the way through with plenty of places to paddle! Well worth the adventure!
K. T.
Amazing experience getting close to the hundreds of deers 🦌
H. S.
Only been her once so far but we'll definitely be back.
D. D. P.
One of the unsung wonders of England hidden away in Newtown Linford, Leicestershire.
Quiet, historical, beautiful scenery.
Never had a bad visit.
B. G.
Love this park. Today I went into the memorial garden not too far from the cafe and it's lovely and incredibly tasteful. There are always people out picking up litter and emptying the bins and hot chocolate from the waffle stand is great!! Toilets are clean. Parking requires coins.
w. i.
One of the most beautiful park with an interesting historical background in the midlands or even in the country.
3 decent sized carpark with parking fees, some bigger spaces for disabled people, also season parking passes to save lots of money if use it in a regular basis (buy online), all money goes in the park. Some free road parkings with time limit.
It’s free to use the park, lots of routes to walk, some easier flat routes, some more wild, it’s great and suitable for all ages. Bicycles are welcome.
Benches in park, not a lot. Picnic area is available during summer / good weather time, also local ice-cream stall during hot days. A cafe is located in the middle of the park, for drinks, cakes, food and a sit down. Plenty cafes & pubs near the park.
Bradgate park ruins ~ Bradgate House is a 16th-century ruin in Bradgate Park, it’s really worth to check it out.
Deer is everywhere in the park, actually the park is their home, we go to visit, there are polite messages to remind visitors to respect the park & all animals. Dogs are allowed, please use leads for everyone’s safety. Also swans, ducks, squirrels, birds and many little animals live in the park.
Wednesdays ~ I believe cars with disabled passes can drive through the park, I’m not quite if you need to contact park beforehand?!
It’s a wonderful park for all seasons.
K. V.
Good place for an all day outing or picnic. Can see deer and have a good walk/run around. Went there with friends and kids and we all had a good time. The place where I parked had a parking ticket machine which accepted only coins. So please take 4 pound worth of coins. Else buy an ice cream if the ice cream man is there.
L. W.
Amazing park with free roaming Deers
J. K.
At the time we went it was £4 to park all day a beautiful place you can either have a stroll along a path which is suitable for most or you can get away from the path for it more of a challenge across the hills.
V. G.
Most relaxing beautiful place. Excellent for both mental and physical health. Highly recommend you give it a visit.
N. R.
Massive park to spend a whole day out- we couldn't explore it all in one day. There are lots of deers to admire. Beautiful views from the hills
s. a.
Love the deers etc, only thing is it was very busy for a Sunday, people were not really maintaining social distance so if you do come here during covid try to avoid the main path and a weekend. Better to park at Hunt Hill and walk across the hills.
P. B.
Such a magical place to have on your doorstep. I never tire of visiting. Even with the present covid restrictions there is plenty of room. It is important to adhere to the park rules eg no barbecues, bonfires or fireworks.
r. c.
Beautiful, peaceful and scenic place. We have visited this place many times and this time I actually bought binoculars just for this place as there's wild deers roaming around and bird watching post along the lake
M. D.
Didn't see many deers but a really serene park!
A.
Nice park but always quite busy and dogs need to be on leads due to the deer. Interesting to see the house with the guides.
S. A. F.
Lovely park what ever the weather. Very busy on a hot day in the holidays. If you avoid the tarmac road, it is easy to escape the crowds.
Cafe was very organised and we loved the carrot cake and the coffee and walnut.
L.
Nice place with lots of paths to explore the area. Nice little spot in the middle to get some waffles and snacks and warm drinks.
B. P.
Huge area of grassland hills and tarmac lanes to suit all walkers. Nice cafe and history learning centre
m. P.
Me and my hubby love taking a walk around here, we always start with a cuppa and a bacon batch at the little cafe.
We feed the ducks, they always follow us a bit then off around looking at the site’s, having a great laugh and the time just flies by.
Beautiful place to just relax or try and get fitter, TRY being the best explanation! Lol. Looking forward to taking the granddaughter in the summer.
M. h. M. T.
What an amazing way to enjoy a day, lovely walk through the park then sitting and watching the deer walking by you is just breath taking. An enjoyable brunch in the cafe with a lovely cup of tea then that amazing walk back to the car enjoying the delicious surroundings. Can't wait to go back.
n. n.
This place is so beautiful and oh my gosh the wildlife is stunning.
Saw then running along in the open area and it’s nice to see.
Had a lovely walk here and it’s easy to social distance here too.
It’s got good paths for people with prams or wheelchairs as well as a off road paths that takes to up the little hills.
Will deffo come back here! No
N. J.
Being one of the highest points in Leicestershire, the park has some nice views of the county, and is refreshing on a clear day.
A wide open space so decent for a 12,000 step walk; has lots more to offer than sticking to the main path, so would definitely recommend heading off the trail. Also a sanctuary for deer so you definitely feel as though you're in an AONB.
Wellies/walking boots are definitely needed; many of the natural routes/trails have been spoilt by the park rangers using their 4x4s or their little buggies - lazy buggers!
The central café menu is limited and it is cash only (could do with a bar at the top of Old John - put the old beer mug to good use! 🍺😉). Parking prices have also been put up recently and is limited, so would advise getting there early.
W. J.
Throughout my childhood I went to Bradgate Park. 50 years on it's still as beautiful as it was then. Definitely the prettiest part of Leicester.
H. Y.
Huge country park with nice road across and many trails should you want to go a bit off road. Loads of deers. Has a bit of everything with small rivers, ponds, hills, ruins, big reservoir, woods... and a lovely cafe in the middle . Perfect for a family out
j. S.
Fabulous huge park with deer, old buildings, a war memorial, lots of hills & woodlands. Great place for all to enjoy, 😁
s.
Lovely place to visit for a short or long walk, car park charge is cheap for a days parking, cafe and toilets on site are clean and good the park has plenty of things to view from wildlife to rivers to some huge trees what are many years old and also there’s an old building to view also, great for taking photos or picnics I would say wear good trainers as at some points there is some very steep Rocky hills to climb.
L. P.
Great day out at this excellent park. Lovely views and nice walks around the hills and along the brook. Also lots of deer to see roaming freely around the park. Very good tea rooms with a nice variety of snacks and drinks.
S. H.
So much freedom to walk around dear lots of them herons rabbits tiokets ice cream food all you need or take a picnic kids love it so much space to run around and safe.
C. C.
Lovely area to run around, play and explore. Deer and ducks a plenty with beautiful stream and with small waterfalls to enjoy. Be warned most parking is change only and no change is given.
N. T.
Its a beautiful place with amazing views . Just choose the right time to visit it and you will be caught up in mesmerising sky colours. You cannot take your cycle or camp there but still can carry picnic food and enjoy. It has a little windy castle look alike (like in peppa pig).
L.
Thank you Charles Bennion for giving the people of Leicestershire this beautiful place. You were indeed a terrific fellow. Bradgate Park is well worth a visit not just for its ancient unchanged beauty but also for its history of the Grey Family and Lady Jane Grey the Nine day Queen.
C. F.
Bradgate Park was wonderful as ever. I had not been for several years and it still has the same feeling of peace and calmness. I am hoping to visit more often.
M. B.
Fantastic place to go for a walk and a picnic and a nice place to see wildlife and deers
E. D.
Beautiful grounds with deer and other wildlife, who are clearly acclimatised to people as they pose for photos! Lovely walk along the path to the tea rooms, which sell a lovely cuppa and delicious cake. Fantastic day out with family, or on your own!
M. M.
Bradgate park is one of the biggest parks in Leicestershire, you can do many things, like sunbathing, picnic on the grass, walking around and play sports. There is 3 parking different locations and the car park but you have to pay for car park even if blue badge holders also in car park there is a public toilet
D. L.
Great walk in Bradgate Park, amazing routes and can capture stunning photos of the sun rise and sun set from here. Lovely to spend time walking around and taking in the freshness. Amazing thorough all of the seasons!
L. K.
Great park with a deer sanctuary near a reservoir. Plenty of space for a family day out, a picnic, a dip in water. This weekend there is a Festival of Archaeology with many events.
P. B.
A beautiful country park; definitely worth a visit. Don’t forget to check out the different species of deer that live there, as well as the ruins of Lady Jane Grey’s childhood home. If you have time, be sure to visit the Old John Tower (which looks like a large mug from a distance) and admire the views of the surrounding countryside from there.
S. C.
Great place for walks, couples and families alike. Great for dogs and really beautiful. Visit whenever you want and make most of it.
c. c.
Really, really lovely place to go for a walk/have a picnic. So relaxing. The deers are take - just sit there 😊. Lots of large family groups having a picnic. Lovely tea room too - really helpful. Def going back again
o. A.
Such a beautiful place. Walked up many hills today to push myself, and the views did not disappoint. Very cute deers along the routes aswell. The visitor centre was fantastic, as there is a small room that you can go inside and learn about the history of Bradgate Park, very interesting. Will certainly have to go back again!
L. F.
Great for a walk out with the family. Clean, Tidy and there is even a little cafe half way through the park if you fancy a snack or drink.
However, make sure you get there early ad the parking is £4 all day at the weekends. If, like us, you turn up about an hour before dusk (when the shut the gates) you'll feel a little robbed!
The parking is the only reason for the 4*
E. P.
Great place for a day out if you love nature
Nice to walk run also there are Deers 🦌 around
z. s.
Beautiful scenery, great outdoors, great for walking .
Enjoyed look at the deers
S. C.
Love this place, roaming deer, stream, ruins and great views. Lovely cafe which do vegan options.
J.
Lovely and peaceful for walking, catering for all visitors including wheelchair users.
Area has historic value and is an area of geological interest.
You can walk along the concrete path through the park which I believe is 2 miles long, or go hiking up the prehistoric extinct volcano. The park has lots of wildlife including free roaming deer. Bradgate Park is a lovely place to go all year round, especially in the peak of summer or under a blanket of snow.
My only negative, like at most National trust areas, is the overpriced coffee shops, which are usually quite busy.
H. A.
This place is amazing. A must go for any dog walker or lover of countryside.
A massive area of unspoilt Countryside that also is a deer reserve. Deer are free to roam the park with visitors and dogs are welcome but are required on leads in certain areas. Wouldnt recommend unless your dog listens to recall as they can scare and chase the deer.
Parking is great as once you have paid you can move the car around any of the 3 parking site all day as the park is quite large.
If you can make it, the views from the tallest point are fantastic.
Will definitely be visiting again
L. W.
Stunning park that has some incredible scenery. Perfect place to spend the day exploring, pond dipping, kicking a ball and enjoying a picnic.
C. A.
Probably one of my favourite places in the whole of Leicestershire. It's great for walkers, wheelchair users, cyclists, mum and dad's with kids and prams as well as dog walkers and photographers - everyone basically! It really does tick all the boxes.
You almost get the feeling of going back in time a 400 hundred odd years as you look across the landscape and see all the history and old trees scattered everywhere. Game of thrones, where are you people!? Get down here and get filming!! :)
If you are about early in the morning or just after sunset you may just get to walk among the deer. My personal favourite moment was walking down from viewing the sunset from Old John towards the car park and small groups of Deer came running down the hill and stopped half way down the hill and again by the entrance. Maybe it was a one off and I was very fortunate that day or maybe they do it all the time...who knows... Either way, the experience was magical and unforgettable!
PS. Amazing hot chocolate at the Deer barn coffee shop too. Try it with cream and marshmallows! 👌
R. s.
Surprisingly wild and rugged despite being so close to Leicester. Most visitors remain on the main path running along the edge of the park which passes the ruins of Lady Jane Grey's birthplace. However there are many tracks and trails criss-crossing the interior where you can get away from the crowds and really experience the wonderful character of this place. Herds of deer roam freely so keep dogs under control. Scaling the heights to visit Old John's Tower is a must for the fabulous views.
C. B.
Great open space lovely seeing the deer. More areas open than previous visits. Lots of visitors as it got later mainly around main entrance
S. M.
Such a beautiful park
Loads of space to enjoy great, quality outdoor time with the family or a nice stroll alone. Loads of deer to watch.
R. A.
Lovely area. Not bad facilities. Good parking. Little bit overpriced in the shop but great.
M. R.
Great place to go to get away from the Usual, open space for children to run as you head up to 'Old John' (The Folly) Great views from there across Leicestershire, and wonderful History to be found well looking at Lady Jane Greys former home. Some small changes due too covid. Outside Catering next to the closed Visitors Centre. Easy to get to, we travelled from Rugby, 21 miles, very quick trip up the M1 and a couple of miles along the A46 and you're there. Last visited 16 years ago before we had children; they have already asked to go back.
J. M.
Well managed car parks at Newtown Linford, making sure we all stay safe during the end of our 3rd lockdown. Cafe at the base of Old John is open for take out only, people largely respecting the government guidelines.
Lovely to see all the young deer strolling along, just wish people would keep their dogs on a lead at all times in the park, even well bahaved ones, as a dog owner myself, I would be mortified if a deer got harmed otr just spooked by a dog venturing a little too close.
Toilets open and as well maintained as possible. Lucky to have such a beautiful space on our doorstep
D. B.
A peaceful piece of countryside ideal for a walk for all ages with a good smooth path all the way through. Or take an amble onto the hills and walk up to Old John monument and take in views on a clear day for 30 miles over Leicestershire and Warwickshire. Ideal for a picnic and walk the dog (dogs must be kept on leads at all times). Plenty of wildlife to get up close too. Stags, Deer and Peacocks roam free and a pretty shallow stream runs through the park. Beautiful village setting. Also has a small gift shop and large car-park. No play area for smaller children but perfect for a walk at any time of year.
R. P.
Nicely maintained park, nice walks. Always sure to spot some interesting birds and insects, and of course the deer. Hike up to Old John is fun, and the views are spectacular!
K. T.
We took our grandchildren for a picnic. They loved the deer & ducks. They had a marvellous time climbing the rocks & playing in the stream. We stayed for 5 hours. £3 parking & no entrance fee we thought was a great way to encourage families. They want to go back next week!
S. G.
Lovely open space, does get busy at the weekends in the carpark but still lots of space around the estate.
S. E.
Beautiful expanse of wide open space ,green and lush with bracken hiding beautiful deer and wild birds flying overhead there's something to please everyone here, well worth a visit ,but take your hiking boots as there are some steep inclines to negotiate
L. M.
Beautiful scenery and lots of deer about, particularly today.
Great place to stretch your legs.
A. S.
Really great place for all the family to visit. Nice cafe with hom made cakes. Parking costs 4 pounds for all day. Lots of dear, dogs best kept on the lead. There is lots to see and do.
L. R.
A great open space for all the family and dogs. The views are amazing
E. T.
Lovely place to walk and explore. Several car parks. Cafe is about half way between the car parks, lots of green space to play, run have a picnic. And lots of deer to see.
M. S.
It's a gorgeous park for a walk. Wonderful for kids and adults alike. It's usually busy on the main paths but if you wander off a bit further it's quiet.
The cafe serves decent food, and plenty of parking available. Definitely worth a visit!l
S. P.
My favourite place in Leicestershire - I could never get tired of this park. Beautiful at any time of the year and an amazing place for a good walk. Suitable for any age group but children especially will love it - it's given me so many special memories.
D. F.
This is a great little park! Parking is good but normally busy and a bit pricey. Cafe/restraunt is good quality and reasonably priced.
We often see lots of deer in the park and it's a great place for a short walk with friends or family.
D. H.
Great walk around Bradgate Park. Lovely views and got to see some deer which was ace.
t. p.
Lots of people on a nice Sunday. Very convenient for prams, cots and pushchairs. Dogs friendly. If a nice weather be prepared to queue to tea rooms. Also there could be a problem to park due to lack of spaces
K. C.
An incredible park of outstanding beauty. See this wonderful landscape that has some of the oldest rocks (Precambrian) in the whole of England. A must see if you're visiting Leicester. Car parking and a lovely cafe also available.
n. p.
Deers everywhere, amazing park! Lots of walking! Excellent way to spend a few hours
A. S.
Great place to run the dog. Just be aware of the deer running free. Wonderful views too. Think the car park is a bit expensive but the choice is mine(and yours) 😁
G. M.
It's nice place to run from the routine have a picnic with kids and friends just two steps out from the city 😉
M. F.
Good as always problem with mobility scooter as much easier to go through open gates and made for flat supermarket floors! PICKED UP OTHER PEOPLE'S PLASTIC CUPS AND STRAWS AND TOP OF DRINKS BOTTLE AS NOT EVERBODY CAN SEE THE LARGE BINS PROVIDED! Looked in the deer barn at the overfed deer (stuffed!) always fascinates me looking at slices of old trees (oak 500years)prices in cafe not too deer and Ham sandwich was lovely!
T. T.
Clean as can be with a lot of people visiting.
The staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
As this isn't paid for by our taxes, I am more than happy to pay £3 all day parking (a little more at weekends) what a bargain!
All monuments and old ruins are looked after and the deer and conservation areas are great.
Loads of space, happy to take a pack lunch over a BBQ (not allowed in the park), bring roller skates, a nerf ball, football, there's loads of room.
F. a. c. K.
Lovely place to go in a day trip with the family or for a bike ride through or even for a nice walk
T. W.
A fantastic park with loads of paths and trails to walk along. There are also lots of ruins to see e.g. the home Lady Jane Grey - the Queen for 9 days etc. A fantastic place for everybody!
M. H.
Beautiful place, just a shame is a lot busier than it used to be, and spoiled by the expensive car park which used to be free back in the day. Plenty of things to do with the family.
E. M.
I've been here a few times and will always go back there! Picturesque surroundings, in a beautiful area ❤
S. W.
Beautiful surroundings. Nice even path. Somewhere to get a drink and something to eat.
J. S.
Lovely park, lots of good paths and beautiful views from the tops of the hills. Can be accessed from various points so as a local I enjoy having a slightly different experience every time.
w. w.
Great park to go to.went with my family at around 2pm had a lovely picnic and climbed hills.reallt convenient as it's only 20 minutes drive from Leicester city centre.lovely scenery with lots of deer.definitely recommend!
A. A.
Very big park and lovely place to take the family. Wild deer are around and spaces for picnics are available. Parking is £3 for the day, no matter how long or short your stay is.
C. M.
Beautiful park fantastic up keep great for all the family cafe food is great and there's reindeer and a gift shop and a mini museum. Great day out
S. M.
It is a very good place to walk your dogs but be careful as there are deers, if you have a dog that doesn't like to be around other dogs or are scared easily keep them on your lead. There is a cafe that serves a variety of foods and drinks along with a museum/ visitors centre to ask any questions you have as they are very friendly and can help you is you need it, if you want more history about the park I would recommend the visitors centre. Occasionally they do tours around the ruins but not very often and that's quite disappointing.
C. J.
Amazing and beautiful place with lots of roaming deer and a couple of tea rooms / cafes
M. L. (.
Nice country park to walk around. Great parking that you can just use contactless at the barrier on the way out.
E. S.
Nice park with lots of deer. Interesting to see the country home of lady Jane Grey! "The Nine Days Queen". Just watch the parking as you can get locked into a car park if you dont leave "within hours". Recommend side road parking if intending to stay late.
M. T.
One of the highest points in the Shire. Scramble up rocks or take the accessible path to the tea shop. Discover the history of Bradgate Park in the free to visit (donations welcome) visitors centre. The highlight of our visit was observing the deer. Come discover the magic of Bradgate Park yourself.
T. G.
Lovely place to walk, bike, run. Fun for the whole family, dogs allowed, (on leads), hard road surface suitable for wheelchairs, buggies mobility scooters, streams, deer and Cafe's.
S. R.
Great place to visit, easy access for those with pushchairs which always helps - had a great day!
P. W.
One of my favourite parks in Leicester. You can see lots of deer (every time I’ve been I’ve seen deer!) and there’s a variety of walks dependant on how active you’re feeling. There’s a cool discovery centre too where you can learn more about the area and wildlife you see in the Park. Recommend a visit to Old John for beautiful panoramic views of Leicestershire, especially at sunset.
T. C.
This is by far the best country park I have been to, it has plenty of space for kids to run around in and climb on the rocks. The park is host to a large amount of wildlife such as deer and ducks and has a few buildings from centuries passed that you can look at and enter at certain times of the year. Parking isn't so good with the most popular entrance to the park being constantly overflowing and the queues stretching out into the street while the other car parks aren't much better.
D. A.
Im fortunate to live just 3 miles from this amazingly beautiful place, left "in its narural state for the people of leicester to enjoy for all time" by the earl of stamford the park has some of the most amazing natural walkways, the river LIN runs right through it where children can paddle and have fun. i remember going there as a child and catching stickleback fish in a net with my parents. some of my fondest memories were made on bradgate park. beautiful cafe and refreshments and often open air events take place here but as an amateur photographer myself i prefer the highest hills and the stags and deer that naturally inhabit the park.
S. B.
Love this place for a wander and to photograph the deer it's amazing!
Good cheap day out for a family with good value parking and a cafe for a warm drink and food or just a snack....
b. d.
Wonderful place of natural beauty and its a great place to relax and walk.
R. L.
A great place to blow some cobwebs away! The cafe at the visitor centre was very popular but we managed to get lunch and sat on the benches outside befire heading off for a walk up to Old John's Tower
F. D.
Its great for a bike ride but its hard when its busy as people do walk everywhere. Great for a picnic
A. P.
Best place in Leicestershire, there is something for everyone. A beautiful historic location with a cafe, multiple car parks and an accessible paved route. Suitable for picnics, ramblers, dog walkers, horse riders and cyclists etc. A must see.
T. B.
Beautiful parkland! A fab day out with the grandsons, plenty of rocks to climb, streams to splash in and deers to watch. Nice cafe halfway along the track with a visitors centre and toilets.
B. S.
Lovely place in the midlands to get outdoors, ample parking but remember to bring change as its pay and display. The deer park and grounds are lovely and some good walking hiking paths for dogs. The cafe is nice good selection if hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and cakes, seating inside is limited but there is outdoor seating too.
A. R. (.
Peaceful place for a leisurely or demanding walk...your preference. Even a pleasure to walk round in the rain. Plenty of things to see from deer to historic buildings and even a couple of tea rooms.
m. p.
Lovely park to visit. The visitor centre which is free to enter is full of history. Well worth a look in. Pity the car parks charge £4 plus depending what day you visit.
G. B. (. G. D.
Always a beautiful place to visit. Can be busy but with it being so open you can easily find pockets of alone time. Also great views, wildlife and ruins with a friendly staff at the cafe.
M. K.
Fantastic place to take the kids, lots of outdoor things for them too do. Rock and tree climbing, looking for weather wildlife in the stream and lots of senic places to let them run around. They have picnic benches scattered around and there is plenty of dears and birds to see.
M. L.
Spacious park, great for walking, nice setting, herds of deer, coffee shop and ice cream.
T. M.
Breath of fresh air peaceful bit of everything wild life water hike monuments nature great walk we walked for 163 mins dog had good walk we all had nice time : ) recommend x
I. M.
Quite simply, Bradgate Park is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Leicestershire, and that is saying something as we have some wonderful countryside in the County. Not only is it full of fascinating history and great wildlife, it is just a wonderful place to just 'be'. Make a point of visiting at the very first opportunity you get, you will not regret it. I love to come here with my camera and capture the natural beauty that surrounds you as you walk through the park.
P. M.
Very nice place for spending with your family , ideal for jogging or taking photos, wonderful sceneries and views, we are looking forward to visit in other season.
M. F. S.
Extremely beautiful place! Exuberant green trees along with a stream with a mini waterfall as well as deers roaming around freely!
L. C.
This park is amazing. It's a huge space. The day we went was one of the first hot days of spring. It was busy but not unpleasantly so.
There are plenty of places to sit. Entry is free, but you do have to pay for parking (which can be congested)
G. H.
Beautiful. Lovely walk and fond memories of my younger days
G. S.
Very good place to walk but Saturday and Sunday very busy. There is a folly a ruined house and lots of deer. The food at the deer hut was good and not overly expensive
J. T.
Great day out for the family. Acres of natural park land with roaming deer. Beautiful stream running through for kids to paddle in. Walk up the hills to the top to see spectacular views and see Old John and the monument. Back down to the cafe for a snack and drink. Treat the kids to the best ice-cream you've ever tasted from the mobile ice-cream bike,or the ice-cream van in carpark. See the castle ruins where Lady Jane Grey, who was Queen for a few days lived. Dogs allowed on leads, because of the roaming deer. Great car Parking.
T. T.
Beautiful place, lots to see.great for short or long walks
H. J.
Any time of year always a pleasure to be here. Love trying to spy the peacocks n baby deer.
D. P.
One of the most beautiful, most peaceful and photogenic places in Leicestershire. Ironically the only downfall is the presence of people.
D. W.
This is an excellent Country Park situated on the edge of Leicester that blends both the history and nature of the site together really well. The visitor centre at the centre of the park details an informative display about the history of the site and Lady Jane Grey. There is the spectacular ruins of the house and also a great walk up to the obelisk to view the city of Leicester. There are loads of excellent opportunities to get up close to the deer on site with fallow and red to see. Overall a great place to see and visit for a few hours.
c. c.
Lovely walks with great views when you take time to walk up to Old John. Plenty of deer roaming the grounds. Great walks for the family.
C. R.
Wow what a place of natural beauty right on our doorstep. I enjoyed a walk up to old John finished of with a hot chocolate and an ice cream. If you haven't been then you should do so soon.
P.
Well worth the visit recommended
N. P.
Fabulous park in Leicestershire. Not far from City yet a real rural haven. Car park is £3 for day and £4 on bank holidays. Flat area along a stream provides easy walking but then you can head off into the bracken and trees if you prefer. There is a war memorial, folly, house ruins and lake. There are toilets and shops at either end and in the middle serving crepes, waffles and hot drinks. Fab day out whatever the weather.
A. S.
Bradgate is a great park with lots of trails and routes for all to experience. It has lovely views and lots of open space with plentiful wildlife and plants/trees. I make sure to visit a few times each year such as in summer or autumn/winter to experience the change of seasons.
S. T.
Absolutely superb. Brilliant walks all round. The great outdoors in at it's finest. Loads to explore. Definitely be back soon
W.
What a beautiful spot, steeped in history and home to grazing deer, this is a wonderful place to visit. We had a lovely brunch at the on site cafe, wondered through the museum learning of the ancient and tudor history of the site which was home to the 'nine day queen'. We then set off on the path, admiring the grazing stags and the lively river sounds. As my partner is familiar with the terrain he then took me over a smaller path, past the tankard building with beautiful panoramic views. You could get closer to the deer without disturbing them up here and there is also some volcanic rock from when the terrain was very different. Beautiful place.
L. H.
Lovely time at Bradgate park lots of people walking & with their dogs. The memorial gdns are very peaceful & the visitors center full of great artifacts & creatures. Great for kids as it's interesting & free 🌳🦌🐰🦋. The Deer Barn tea rooms have a lovely range of drinks & cakes at affordable prices 👍
D. D.
Beautiful rolling countryside, walked over 5 miles & its great for the dogs. Nice little cafe serving hot drinks & ice creams. Very clean everywhere & the upkeep of the park is to a high standard. Lovely to see the deer roaming around 😊
M. S.
Fantastic place to visit. Friendly helpful staff and rangers. Just follow the signage .you are free to roam the many acres of land. The deers roam the area freely.
D. H.
Lovely walk through the park and up to Old John.
M. S.
I enjoyed my time there, highly recommended. Really wildlife around to you. I will be back.
J. “. N.
Great place to visit with children of all ages. Great for a walk and a picnic
M. B.
Always so lovely, even when it’s dull, drizzly and cold. The park is so well maintained and the deer and stunning amongst the trees and ferns. The stream running through add to the atmosphere and a beautiful sound. Definitely worth a visit here if you’re in the area.
S. P.
Beautiful country park. Popular with families and anyone who loves nature.
We particularly loved the deer roaming free.
M. H.
Lovely place to spend a few hours either watching the wildlife or deep in thoughts.
L. M.
What an amazing gem of a park. Loved the memorial part, very thoughtful. Lady Jane Greys ruins and of course lots and lots of deers😁
A.
Huge, beautiful park with rivers, lakes, forests, historic buildings and deer! Easily the best recreational space in Leicestershire so of course it gets busy at weekends however if you leave the main path there are very few people. You pay and display for parking (max £4) all but 1 payment machine only take coins! So take change as you could be a long way from a machine that takes card.
K. G.
Beautiful place ,with lots of lovely walks.
S. C.
What a wonderful place great to see the deers in the natural habit. Wonderful tea room cafe with very reasonable price and good quality and excellent service 👌
I. M.
Lovely walk through the park with deer close enough to touch. The contactless payment option for the car park has finally solved the problem of scratching around for coins
M. G.
A beautiful and ample grounds with plenty of routes through and an interesting history. Deer graze freely and its lovely to see them wander. Taking a walk from Lady Jane Grey's residence (in ruin) up to old John offers a tranquil, meandering path and a beautiful view from the top. There are paved footpaths for those with accessibility needs but free wandering through the park if you are able. It's a little hilly, but nothing too strenuous.
A. T.
Excellent place to go walking and get some fresh air. Kids can run around and there are paths going in different directions. There is a cafe offsite at the main entrance this sells ice cream, hot drinks and cakes. There is wildlife, small brooks that you can paddle in and also rock and tree climbing.
N.
Very beautiful park with natural beauty. You will see deers and peacocks as you walk. Cafe available with food and drinks. Will definitely go again
a. p.
Nice peaceful place to visit.

Unexpectedly stunning. Not your avage country park. Copious amounts of room even on a busy day . Toilets in various spots. Cafe if needed. Roaming deer. Suitable for young uns and old uns. Lucky Leicestershire
S. K.
Love the place. Easy tarmac paths or more steeper climb to hill tops and crags. Look out for the deer too. A new visitor centre with interactive exhibition.
S. K.
Great day outside, we spent lovely afternoon with my family. Lots of walking trails, seen also lots of deers. Definitely this is a place to return. Can't be explored in a day time. Have a nice spots for picnic, just enjoy views.
M. C.
One of my pooches favourite places to walk if he has to be on lead. Plenty to sniff and lots of social interaction with lots of other friendly dog walkers. A splash in the brook and a delicious treat from the cafe including a doggy friendly ice cream for your furry friends on a warm day. Always a beautiful, well kept place. And the new parking system works well i feel too.
M. D.
Huge Park open to the public and run by the council. Although free to enter, the park is maintained from the money from car parking. Has its own cafe and deer roams freely. Fantastic open space to bring children, there are places where you can take the dog off the lead.
S. G. M.
Large safe open space as long you take precaution of not bothering native wildlife adders have been seen
G. S.
Always a good walk through the park. Lots to enjoy. Deer and wildlife.

Lovely place to walk work family. Nice to see deer too.
D. B.
Parking easy and cheap, park is wonderful and costs nothing! Loads of deer to see, and views are paranamic! Well worth a visit.
A. T.
Have always loved Bradgate Park since I was a child and now I drive back to Leicester to take my children there. It's brilliant for a decent bit of exercise and a good days hike following the many paths, or a good bike ride if you wanted to by taking the main path through the centre of the park. It's also nice to sit by the river and the little waterfalls watching the ducks and swans or relax on the grass watching the many dear graze. They can be seen throughout the park and on the quieter tracks you may even bump into a stag, but be careful and respectful of their space. There are many bins with recycling facilities throughout the park and benches to sit. The park is immaculately clean of litter too. There are tea rooms for refreshments and even waffle / ice-cream shacks. Take a trip up Old John and the views over Leicestershire are worth the uphill walk. My children look forward to going every time and always want me to take them. We walk for hours around the park and they still don't want to leave! I would recommend it to anyone. I just wish they still had the liquorice ice-cream they used to have when I was a kid. That would be the icing on the cake.
S. B.
Amazing green surroundings and beautiful views of the deer. Good under foot with a road through the whole park.
P. D.
Fantastic walk around the reservoir...takes about an hour and a half...there is a pub and coffee room on the route....car parking is expensive at _4 on a sunday
e. k.
Lovely place ,just be careful when you are close to the rock walls as we have seen couple of snakes (adders) .
j. w.
A wonderful place to visit either for a day or just a stroll. Reasonable car parking at the Newtown Linford entrance then leads along a good pathway through the park. Alongside is a stream where children can paddle and splash. Most of the park is quite flat for walking unless you venture up the hill towards Old John or the war memorial. A wonderful bonus is the abundance of wild deer found roaming both in the fields and also the undergrowth.
M. H.
A great half day out in the Leicestershire countryside. You can do the easy tarmacadam road ( excellent for boxing day and kids with new bikes), or the more rugged walk to visit "Old John ". Shop available half way across not bad prices. Nice place to have a picnic, just remember to take your rubbish 🗑 home!
S. D.
Great place to visit with stunning scenery lovely little cafe near the car park at Newton Linford, with excellent food and lovely friendly staff. The cafe used to be a shop but taken on by new management and after a refurbishment, it reopened as a cafe. Indoor and outdoor seating, so nice place even if the weather is bad. The park is dog friendly but you need to keep it on a lead site to the roaming deer.
R. H.
Nice walk see deer .was cold .had to pay £4.for car park .ifyou want to see wild life you have to get there early
N. S.
Really nice park. Walk for any distance you like with a nice view and really good waffles at the Café
S. S.
Perfect for a day out, lots of deer roaming around and beautiful landscape. Recommend for a relaxing walk.
P. O.
Good sized car park with plenty of room. The parking was relatively cheap and the walk was easily directed. There are some lovely ruins near by and lots of wildlife to look at (deer) overall rather pleasant. The view wasn’t brilliant when you reach the top. Some paths were still in construction and not well labelled

Bradgate Park (local pronunciation: /ˌbrædɡʌt/) is a public park in Charnwood Forest, in Leicestershire, England, northwest of Leicester. It covers 850 acres (340 hectares). The park lies between the villages of Newtown Linford, Anstey, Cropston, Woodhouse Eaves and Swithland. The River Lin runs through the park, flowing into Cropston Reservoir which was constructed on part of the park. To the north-east lies Swithland Wood. The park's two well known landmarks, Old John and the war memorial, both lie just above the 210 m (690 ft) contour. The park is part of the 399.3 hectare Bradgate Park and Cropston Reservoir Site of Special Scientific Interest, which has been designated under both biological and geological criteria.

The park was originally enclosed using a bank and ditch topped by vertical pales of oak. These first ditchworks cross the River Lyn east of the Little Matlock Gorge. A parker, living in a moated house, was the only occupant, maintaining stocks of deer for the lord of Groby Manor to hunt.
Bradgate House
(16th century) -
Edward Grey's son Sir John Grey of Groby married Elizabeth Woodville, who after John's death married King Edward IV. Their son Thomas Grey, 1st Marquess of Dorset prepared for building Bradgate House in the late fifteenth century but died before he was able to begin. It was his son Thomas Grey, 2nd Marquess of Dorset who built Bradgate House, the likely completion date being 1520.

Very nice for a short stroll, but can become quite busy. Deers roam around the park and seem quite used to people.

Beautiful grounds with deer and other wildlife, who are clearly acclimatised to people as they pose for photos! Lovely walk along the path to the tea rooms, which sell a lovely cuppa and delicious cake. Fantastic day out with family, or on your own!

Nice park with lots of deer. Interesting to see the country home of lady Jane Grey! "The Nine Days Queen". Just watch the parking as you can get locked into a car park if you dont leave "within hours". Recommend side road parking if intending to stay late.

Beautiful place, just a shame is a lot busier than it used to be, and spoiled by the expensive car park which used to be free back in the day. Plenty of things to do with the family.
