One of the most interesting places ever and such friendly hosts. They will answer any questions and gladly show you around. A very impressive bunker and highlight the dangers of cold wars. So much to learn about from when the place was active, how many personnel served there as well as information on what the purpose of the bunker was for.
K. H.
What an absolutely wonderful few hours. The volunteers and staff were most informative. Great experience on the firing gallery. An all round great afternoon. Great team of staff all very knowledgeable, friendly.
Well worth the money. It certainly did not disappoint.
Slightly worrying what might have been though .... !

OK let's get one thing straight!
YOU SHOULD VISIT RAF HOLMPTON.
AND HERE IS WHY!
This place is packed full of amazing artifacts, stories from the knowledge staff and authentic!
The displays and articles stored there range from the 50s to the 00s and there is some stuff I thought I would never get to see in the flesh.
The staff are amazing if you have a question they have a answer or a record to help you understand the history!
Finally it's authentic this was used for different purposes over its active life and you can see all the alterations and how they adapted its remit in the defence of the relm.
So please go visit this resource of history on your door step!

Absolute Gem of a find, my boys loved every minute and the staff went out of ther way embrace their enthusiasm. The guy in the air conditioning room was fantastic and explained everything and answered all our questions, can't wait to visit again 👍

This place was amazing. An absolutely fascinating piece of cold war history. Had a chat with a few of the staff who were all very friendly and a fountain of knowledge. Thanks for a great day out...Keep up the good work..

Stopping in Withernsea for a few days we saw signs for the Underground Bunker. The following day we decided to make a visit.
I visited on 1/6/21 along with my wife, daughter and brother in law. I had some clue what to expect, as in minimal up top and vast network of underground tunnels and rooms below. It was an experience that we all enjoyed and we all learn't so much about the operation of the station and what conditions were like for those who worked there.
Credit goes to "John" who has a vast knowledge of the station and could possibly keep you there for hours and no you didn't bore us :)
J. L.
Excellent place, full of recent history and the guide who was the owner was full of useful information. The underground bunker is massive, we really enjoyed our visit to this relic from the cold war.
S. B.
Found just enough information to find it interesting, often it can be over load when visiting museums. Amazing place, took a 13&14 year old and they were fine.
W. M.
If you would like an unrestricted view into the effort that went into the cold war, then this place is worth every penny. The place is huge and no restrictive tour, you are free to look around, but there are staff available to answer any questions. Will be visiting again.

Best underrated attraction in this region! Friendly, knowledgeable volunteers, great setting and well kept. A mild mannered bungalow hides a maze of corridors leading into a secure top secret bunker. Awesome!
J. Q.

A brilliant way to spend a few hours , gives an insight into a world most will never have seen in person, The owner is very knowledgeable and ready to answer any questions..ask him anything he's really friendly... If you love old miliary gear or are just inquisitive about what happened in these places during the cold war this is a great place to visit ... The whole bunker has been extremely well maintained ...my whole family found it interesting, Me and my son thought it was fantastic....it's a good one to visit on a cloudy or rainy day as it's obviously all underground 😀.
R. H.
A hidden gem, literally hidden in what looks like a bungalow is the entrance to the huge underground bunker, fascinating look at the history of raf intelligence, it even has a bar and game room, the staff are very friendly and will tell you everything about the bunker, we chatted to a nice chap called Carl who actually worked in the bunker while it was being used by the ministry of defence, our 2 boys of 3 and 6 enjoyed it too, we spent 2 hours in there.
highly recommended, and a good place to visit on them rainy days as it's all inside.
D. J.
Had a fantastic 3 hours exploring the underground bunker staff on site are very informative and interesting, very friendly and helpful a big thank you to everyone involved
P. B.

Superb ..one of best days out of the year ..
Highly recommended . John and teds knowledge was exemplary.. loved the armoury as well
S. E.
Very knowledgeable people and very helpful.
Locked our helmets in reception area for us so we didn't have to carry them.
Great piece of history.
I lost dropped £10 without realising and they handed it back to me on my way out.
Will definitely visit again
A. T.
A very good effort made to make it interesting. Hard to see what more they could do. Helpful friendly staff/volunteers, whichever they might be. Glad I went, though also glad to be honest I awaited being in the area on holiday rather than making (as I had some years thought of doing) made a special trip as you're kinda done in about an hour and a bit.
K. F.
Had a good day out here, weve drove past the sign lost of times and said we'd visit but didn't know what to expect. After seeing some photos from friends visit we decided we'd definitely go. We paid £28 for a family of four ticket, there was plenty of free parking when we visited. There is plenty of grass outside for a picnic or they had a little room with 4 tables inside that we could use. The 80,s bar room inside the bunker was a big hit with us all with its Duke box, pool table, dart board, pin ball and arcade game all free to use. The other rooms of the bunker were interesting to see and read about and give you a behind the scenes insight into what happened in the bunker when it was in use.
J. B.
Well worth a visit. Well run, very friendly and informative staff, also volunteers who actually worked here with first-hand experience and knowledge of the bunker and its role. Very authentic displays with lots of original equipment in place, and short informative video shows and government type public information films from the Cold War period . Very well maintained with historical significance that everyone should learn about. Thanks to John, Karl and the rest of the staff. Tea and cake afterwards recommended 👍
R. H.
Absolutely brilliant, lovely people and a great museum. The Bunker gives you a real sense of the cold War.
The whole bunker is spotlessly clean and really interesting. My sons loved the sinclair c5 in the stairwell, a bit random but great.
The volunteers gave a real sense of the history of this place and are friendly and informative.
Recommended and we will be coming back. Nice fresh eggs from the guardhouse too.
J. J.
We visited the bunker on 17/8/21. We had no idea what to expect and were thoroughly surprised by the whole experience. It was a really interesting place and something we really enjoyed learning about and trying to get our heads around! Thank you to John and Ted for giving us extra information. Loved the nostalgic recreation room with the juke box!
j.
First time visiting RAF Holmpton after living in this area and passing the bunker all my life. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and history this remarkable place has to offer, the staff are very friendly and informative, some of which, used to work and be stationed there during its operational years. Great for families/kids or couples looking for something to do, would highly recommend.
M.
The wife and I were camping near Spurn point and cycled here which was a mostly flat and traffic free 6 mile route.
We were surprised how big it was and there was lots to see. The underground bar was still there with 80s pinball, table space invaders and juke box (but no beer ;o) ) all on free play. Loads of interesting facts and exhibits about the bunkers use over the years,
The stars were the staff who were all very friendly and knowledgeable and made the visit very enjoyable. Well worth a visit
Z. H.
This bunker was very good to explore. They even took card payment :)
N. S.
Allow time and soak in the experience. The staff are outstanding and we'll worth talking too and listening to their experience of working and living in. I did not have hi hopes when I arrived but it is an experience that should not be missed. It was both scarry and fascinating. As a child at the time when the bunker was operational it showed how vulnerable we were. I may go again sometime probably taking people who have never been. Give yourself atlest a couple of hours and have an open mind. It is the sought of place you must visit at least once
N. M.
Somewhere different to visit, a more unknown, part of Britain's history.
k. b.
Fab experience took 2 granddaughters spent two hours there. Beat my expectations and would have stayed long but was 5 o’clock. Highly recommend and would go again and spend longer there. Interesting chats with the the staff and their experience in the bunker.
A. M.
A lot of effort taken to preserve this great reminder of the Cold War. Worth talking to the knowledgeable and friendly team to get the most out of your visit. Cash only, no card facilities!
M. M.
Brilliant little secret place to take my teenage boys. The place was empty whist we were there. John (not sure if the owner) was really enjoyable to listen too. Loved the entertainment room.
Only 4 stars as not sure how accessible it would be for the disabled
P. H.
Unbelievable, what a find. Had waited a long time to visit, not at all disappointed, the staff are so enthusiastic. We really enjoyed our day, would recommend a visit at any time of the year as the temperature is a constant 20-21.
S. R. F.
What an amazing and interesting place, our daughter loved it here. Very helpful people on hand to give you plenty of information and was not too busy.
Def recommend a visit here.
D. F.
You must make time to visit this 'Hidden' treasure! The bunker is much bigger than you would expect and very interesting. The staff and volunteers here are the best, great with kids, very knowledgeable and interesting to have a conversation with.
G. H.
This place is incredible. You have to see it to realise just how big it is.
The staff that work there are fantastic and very knowledgeable to guide you thru.
j. g.
Great experience, family enjoyed it was there over 2 hours. We enjoyed our chat with Ted he was really nice and full of great information. Thanks again would definitely recommend a visit and will definitely go again.
W. Y. M.
A great place to visit. All staff wonderful, full of interesting information and very good with children.
We visited at 13:00 on a Sunday and it was nice a quiet.
Would highly recommend a visit.
B. S.
Absolutely excellent.
Run by people with enthusiasm and knowledge. The place is as it was during the cold war and is one of the best museums I have visited in years.
Thoroughly recommended.
M. L.
Didn't even know this bunker was here!
Well worth a visit. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Loved the armoury with a large selection of rifles and machine guns on loan.
P. D.
This is a highly recommended attraction. The massive underground bunker is as large as a football field, and has knowledgeable friendly guides to explain the workings and function of this cold-war era defence site. It's full of all the equipment that was used when it was an active site, and is a great way to spend an afternoon. I'd definitely visit again!
R. B.
Really enjoyed this and teenage kids surprisingly had a good time also. A must do if in the area. Staff were all really friendly and made you feel welcomed.
A.
Amazing cold War history, and what the British could actually build. Fantastic day out kids throughly enjoyed it.
P. B.
Absolutely brilliant. Cannot recommend this place enough. Not only the place itself but the staff / volunteers, they are a credit to this place. Most definitely going back and worth every single penny. GO !!!! 👍
K. C.
Absolutely amazing experience I went with my squadron , as an RAF air cadet myself we only had 2 hours which I felt that I could have stayed for over three as it was an unbelievable day out . I will definitely be returning , the staff are all clued up with the bunker and can give you all of the information you will need , the only thing I would have done which I didn't was go into the tunnel under the floor and explore other parts of the bunker thoroughly. I was also quite shocked about the fact that it has a nice bar/social room and that what looks like a bungalow from the ground level is in fact a massive underground cold war era bunker .
Absolute memorable experience, thank you to the staff and owner
M. J.
Amazing place, and to think alot of locals worked there in secret and many didn't know it existed. A great attraction for the area. The running and up keep is excellent. Highly recommended, especially when the reenactment is on where pyrotechnics are involved. Boom!
D. C.
This is a hidden gem. Well worth a visit. Very interesting, great interactive exhibits. A credit to its owners and volunteers. Definitely returning.
S. B.
We visited the bunker on 7th August 2017. After reading some poor reviews we thought we would still visit it with our two children aged 16 & 11. We were totally blown away. It is absolutely fantastic!! Such an eye opener and very informative. John really made us feel welcome and provided us with some very interesting information. We went into the games room after looking around, which was great. The children have not stopped talking about it. Well worth the money as we spent over 3 hours here. We would, and have, recommended visiting here. We will definitely be back.
D.
Absolutely fascinating to visit a place that was once surrounded by such secrecy. I had no idea as to how big it was.
The volunteers really know their stuff and bring the experience to life. The amount of work they have put in to show off the facility is outstanding.
Well worth a visit, in my opinion, if you have a slight interest in the defence of the country.
C. E.
Really had no idea what to expect here as I went along with my boyfriend who was really keen to visit. It was completely stunning on a mind blowing scale. The tour was really good and some of the demonstrations were awesome. The best bit was the old part of the bunker where you stood on a floor and looked up through 50ft to the roof of the bunker and you were still underground. We going again next year.
J. G.
A couple of hours needed to see this interesting and enjoyable visit.
P. K.
What a gem, visited 21.10.18, staff excellent, brimming with knowledge, happy to let you do your own thing, but there when you want to ask questions, made us feel very welcome. The bunker itself is amazing well worth the small entry fee. A real insight into the nuclear 60/70/80's with the early "public information messages" broadcast in the various rooms around the bunker. The real bonus for me was a look at the armory (coming soon I hope as a display piece). Top effort. There was even a friendly cat to greet you .
D. H.
This is an amazing place to visit. We went last year then returned this year with our grown up kids. The staff are full of information and stories. I really can't give a description that would do this place justice, just visit and enjoy!
D. M.
Really enjoyed it definitely would go again
R. N.
Great afternoon visiting the bunker, fascinating experience. Thank you to John and Carl for the great information and history and answering any questions we had. Would highly recommend a visit. Thank you
B. U.
A fantastic day out and extremely interesting history, the husband and wife team who run the bunker are friendly and knowledgeable and we will definitely be visiting again! Give yourself at least 2/3 hours as there is a good amount of interesting information to read.
H. &. H.
Really enjoyed the visit. Lots of equipment and kit from different periods, and information. The bunker itself is impressive and is kept in very original, but nice condition. John was also very friendly and knowledgeable. Well worth the money.
J. N.
Visited 21/8/21 Amazing & Interesting place never expected the vast scale of the bunker, impeccable exhibits and great friendly staff, would definitely recommend visiting!
N.
Very interesting and staff were amazing, allowed me to have ago on the siren and gave knowledgeable talks about the place also great little chill area to play a little pool or dart's, dominoes, cards even a retro pinball machine and old games to play and some old tunes on the dukebox they may be adding moving targets on the little Airsoft range, cant wait to go back and have a go. 😊
R. J.
Absolutely amazing place, staff were incredibly knowledgeable and great to see the veterans of the former ROC there to this day. Couldn't recommend this place anymore if you love anything cold war.
P. W.
We travelled 250 miles round trip and thoroughly enjoyed our visit to RAF Holmpton (RAF Patrington that was).
Both guides are very knowledgable on the intricate goings on what went within the base and also the strategic importance of the location of the base. Have been before and will definitely go again as the displays are brilliant and well worth a visit by any interested in the post WW2 cold war stand off.
H. W.
Visited the Holmpton bunker today. It's an amazing place, a time capsule of our very recent past. Very knowledgeable guides around to help understand the many areas. Short films give insights into the cold war era and scary atmosphere of atomic warfare. Very different place to visit. Recommend
C. H.
Excellent! This was our family favourite place of the week! My husband wanted to live here.... lol! Highly recommend, we are a couple in our 40s, with 2 18 year olds. It's just missing a tea room. We would definitely come again x
J. M.
What a great afternoon out with the family. The hard work which has gone into preserving this facility must be seen to truly be appreciated. The guides on hand are so keen and enthusiastic and will answer any questions you may have and be prepared for the odd surprise or two if you are lucky. This truly is the product of a lot of hard work to preserve history from the cold war and I will certainly be going back again in the future.
M. O.
An absolute gem! What a place. Mesmerising! One of the best 'museums' I've ever visited. Too difficult to describe. You have to witness it for yourself. All I can say is that you are immediately transported back to the Cold War. The staff were immaculate too.
C. B.
Very interesting bit of cold war history
S. R.
Was a brilliant experience. All the volunteers were extremely knowledgeable. The kids loved the shooting range.
S. B.
From start to finish an incredible experience. So much to see from different periods in the bunkers history, and two guides who are passionate about the place and so full of knowledge which was the icing on the cake. I will be visiting again someday.
L. H.
Fascinating insight to recent history. Informative and enthusiastic volunteers who inform and answer questions. Lots to see, and delicious homemade cakes to enjoy.
C. M.
1 of only 4 public bunkers in the uk, and it's one if the top spec huge bunkers.
Amazing experience, really fascinating, the ability to roam around the entire bunker is fantastic, it is kept in great condition by the dedicated staff of volunteers. The staff answer any questions you have and can guide you around, is a must see for everyone as the history of the place is amazing.
S. G.
I went on a visit last year and was amazed by the scale of this place, it's huge and totally underground. The tour was guided and also interpreted with films and demonstrations which really explained the purpose of the place. I throughly enjoyed the experience and hope to return in 2013 as I understand that whole new areas are being opened up along with an entirely new tour. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and it was good value for money as well.
a. t.
Had a fantastic day with the kids today, volunteers very knowledgeable and friendly. The kids especially enjoyed the bar with the juke box and games which they was allowed to play on.
I would certainly recommend this museum to anybody who is visiting the area
R. R.
Absolutely fascinating place and the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable with certainly no sugar coating one of our more recent dark points in history.
R. S.
A hidden, literally, gem of an experience telling of the frightening reality of the cold War. The guys in there being very friendly, knowledgeable and entertaining. An excellent place to visit
L. R.
What a fab find. Had a great time. Lots to learn and have some fun too.
B. &. S. S.
Frozen in time, curated by real enthusiasts, a cold war nuclear bunker. Fascinating look back at the period when there was a real chance that 3 bombs could literally destroy the whole country. Still true but perhaps slightly less likely
A. M.
Excellent little trip out
P. K.
This place is amazing, my 8 year old loved it. Very informative. An excellent example of history
J. H.
A bungalow with a Cold war bunker underneath. Fascinating insight. John the owner was very approachable and knowledgeable. Definitely worth a visit.
E. N.
Brilliant! One and half hours of pure military-hardware goodness, good explanations and awesome exhibits (from a computer geek point a view). Furthermore, it's only 5 pounds for students! Would definitely recommend it to anyone remotely interested in seeing a nuclear warhead in real life (and live to tell the tale)
K. D.
Absolutely amazing place. We could have spent all day here. It truly is a hidden gem. Definitely 5 out of 5.
