Reviews of HMS Belfast
C. W.
A really amazing experience! We spent a couple of hours here, climbing up ladders, using the interactive screens and exploring all the rooms. Some rooms are a really tight fit you have to breath in! The volunteers were so helpful.
It's best to go this time of year as there aren't many schools visiting and it's much cooler. I'll definitely be going again in the near future!
L. S.
A unique experience and a lot to learn about. We really enjoyed it, and there were some kids activities. Was really good to know the ship history and see the different ship part. Enjoying going through the different levels and different rooms and discovering new things. Spend few hours in it. Staff were really nice and helpful.
A. S.
HMS Belfast is one of those things you should do once when in London. But it certainly isn't cheap (£22 for an adult, £11 for a child).
It takes between 60 and 90 minutes to explore all the decks depending on whether you stop to read everything. There is a tea room on board too. Good for kids but a fair degree of climbing up and down ladders to note if anyone has mobility issues.
H. R.
3.75 stars. Walked past hundreds of times so figured I'd check it out. It was a drizly, windy day. Lots to explore on the ship. Some areas can be tight and lots of ladders to climb up and down. Cafe onboard. Entry fee a little pricey. Explored the ship for a couple of hours.
J. B.
Really good day out for my birthday 😁👍 Loads to see so give yourself plenty of time, quite a bit of Ladder climbing and my knees aren't great at the best of times but if you take it steady You'll see everything 👍 Good cafe, food was nice and cups of Tea were v.welcome. There are toilets on board - I think that's important to know when you get to my age!! 5stars to the staff 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 very friendly and polite Special mention to the Gentleman on duty in the cafe most efficient and polite 🌟🌟

I've visited London several times before, but it wasn't until my latest trip that I finally made it to the HMS Belfast. If you are into naval/military history, this definitely should be on your list. Entrance fee isn't necessarily cheap, but it 100% worth it. Felt like I was onboard for a few hours as I explored the various decks and the interactive exhibits. I dont know if I got lucky or not, but there also weren't many other visitors on that particular day, which made the visitor even better.

Had a very nice experience during the visit. Tickets can be bought online or at the info office. Before your visit pick up a map makes things way easier getting around the ship. Put aside around 2-3 hours to visit the ship. The staff can help you answer your questions and explain how the ships equipment functions and role of different people who worked on the ship. The ship is like a floating city housing everything you need. The personal who operated it was very skilled. On borad are toilets, a restaurant and interaction activities for children but also for adults😄. The open deck offers a nice view of River Thames and London. If coming with tube get of at London Bridge station. Nearby you can take river cruises, visit Tower Bridge or Tower of London. Restaurants couple of minutes walk.

Visited the war-ship museum on a cold and cloudy day in London. But, I enjoyed the opportunity to get on board a decommissioned warship and see the insides. Much effort have been put into the exhibits and you can learn a lot about life on board. Do set aside a minimum of 90min for your visit. To be safe, I would recommend wearing a good pair of shoes that has good grip and do use a backpack to store your personal items. That way, your hands are freed to help you through the many steep ladders within the war ship. For me, the ladders are not too friendly to children below the age of 6. Children should be accompanied by an adult and they must be prepared to use the ladders.

This is the place which should be on 1st place attractions you visit in London. No London Eye, no China Town but this....HMS Belfast 📍
Recommended to everyone, sorry with no small babies and without walking difficulties unfortunately. There's lots of stairs and really small spaces. Stairs are often very narrow.
Amazing experience , worth every penny ❤
M.
Very good to see and explore.. be prepared for cramped spaces and small tight ladders, it's a war ship after all.
Plenty of staff around to help guide you around etc. There was lots of games etc for kids to do while going around.
Really good way to pass a few hours and learn something.
J. P. (.
2-3 Hrs to look around
Good cafe & toilets
Lots to see
Need to be very able bodied as a lot of ladders & climbing
o.
I expected much more but it was great very informative. Lots of activities for kids . Unfortunately the engine room was closed due to lighting issue . I must say I learnt so much and it was very interesting. If you are over weight and have mobility problems then your best to avoid. Didn't try the cafe. Don't think I'll go back but good for a quick one off visit. Kept seeing warning signs of asbestos which was concerning
M. D.
Carefully preserved and still afloat, this D Day Veteran is still going strong. Now used as a tourist attraction and sleeping quarters of cubs and scouts. Relying on charity to remain viable.
A. F.
Brilliant place to visit, such an interesting experience and very informative. Definitely recommend if u want something different to do in London
B. C.
Haven't visited HMS Belfast in (too) many years, and it was FAB to get back on board and explore her. Even with COVID precautions it is still possible to have a really good wander around all areas, bridge, cabins, turrets, engines etc. The interactive displays are great fun and the story of the ship is told through the voices of the crew(audio guide included in ticket), which made it feel much more alive and to imagine what it was like when she was a working ship. The history and story of the ship is long and distinguished and very well presented throughout. I've taken out an IWM membership, which includes unlimited entry to Belfast so I will visit again soon I am sure.
T. S.
Great to see a bit of history. It has a well laid out route around the boat with lots of informative information. Great to see what sailors had to work/live like whilst at see. Access to main desk is fine for disabled, but you won't be able to get around much more of the ship
E. M.
We are members of the imperial War museum so the admission feet for the HMS was included. Otherwise tickets are expensive, 25 quid for adults and 12.50 for kids. We went on a summer Sunday at noon. We were able to explore all 9 levels of the ship at our own pace with hand help audio guides to listen to along the way, personally the audio guides were not that great and wouldn't bother with them. Plenty to see and read on board. They say the average visit is 2 hours but we were there just shy of 4hours. The lower decks where the food, laundry, doctor, boilers etc were is not recommended for shorts kids, mobility impared people or anyone who is afraid of small spaces and lots of ladder climbing. Lots of very interesting things to see and great photo opportunities. Some of the viewing windows would be too low for young kids. The small cafe on the ship is below average, a couple of premade sandwiches that you could easily get from a corner shop, and chips, coffee, and a small selection of bottles pop, just and pastries, which is I suppose okay if you are dying of hunger. Bathroom on the ship we ok. The views, information and exploring a huge piece of history make this a great day out if you are interested in War, ships, and history in general. Try to go on a sunny or at least non rainy day, we did get a brief shower and some ladders were slippery. Worth a visit, short walk from the train station.
T. T.
Overall nice experience if you enjoy warships/history and a peek at how things were before.
Informative displays/audio .
Enjoy a drink at the coffee shop.
D. B.
A good museum experience with very little off limits and a great way to get a feeling for life on board. Lots of good information, which is not dumbed down, and lots of guides available for questions. It would have been good if there were more interactive exhibits/ things to touch and do, but otherwise a great trip. Takes a couple of hours to see everything.
r. l.
Great family visit to HMS Belfast. Friendly welcome to the boat by a lovely volunteer, loads to see and very informative. Great experience. Kids loved it! Amazing to see.
K. S.
A really brilliant day out for all the family. Some of the ladders are a bit steep but manageable and I'd recommend not wearing a back pack. The cafe is nice and good food, plenty to see and do.
K.
Such a fascinating experience. There's plenty rooms to venture through, sometimes you'll have to jump through narrow spaces but that's what makes the experience so unique.
J. S.
Walking round HMS Belfast was fascinating. You have to go up and down lots of narrow steps, so you need to be reasonably fit and to watch your head! Reading about the history and seeing how the sailors lived is definitely worth the visit.
L. P.
Really good visit so Interesting, plenty ti keep my 9 Yr old grandson entertained. Some good hands on activities. A little disappointed with the cafe options and we'd planned our trip to have lunch on arrival. We just bought drinks and waited until after our visit.
J. H.
HMS Belfast is a unique window in to the workings of a real life WW2 warship. Many areas have unrestricted access to wander, explore and get a real sense of what life onboard was like for its crew. It is not suitable got people with mobility issues as access from deck to deck involves climbing some very steep ladders. The entrance fee is a little steep and the gift shop was reasonable.
N. S.
Fantastic experience, could spend the whole day there exploring! Lots of ladders to climb up and down. Neil was an excellent guide who works there, lots of fascinating stories and facts! Highly recommend.
S. K.
HMS Belfast is the most significant surviving Second World War Royal Navy warship. Since her launch over 80 years ago, she fired some of the first shots at the D-Day landings, served in the Arctic Convoys and in the Korean War. Home to over 1000 men at anyone time, it was great to visit it today and see it being utilised as a modern day museum.
S. L.
Absolutely fascinating! Enjoyed every minute we were there and would love to go back. Kids loved it too.
L. B.
What an amazing historical ship! I have always wanted to board the HMS Belfast, but never had the time whilst in that part of London. So on board we went and it ticked every box, loved it. It was a very cold day and the ship was cold, however, can only think this is due to COVID. But was still amazing! I will go back again in the summer!
J. T.
Having visited the HMS Belfast as a child, coming back as an adult did not disappoint. The access to all areas of the ship is amazing and gives you a real sense of what it must have been like on deployment. There are interactive areas for kids and adults alike. Some of the areas are looking a bit tired and could do with updating, but in general it remains a great reminder of an important part of history. Just be ready to go up and down A LOT of ladders!
v. c.
If you like a bit of history, you will enjoy this well-preserved, well presented, WWII great battleships. Like it that we can visit pretty much all the areas in the ship; it is more complex with steep ladders, narrow passage ways. Impressed with the ammu loadings for gun turrets, steam engine room, captain's bridge, crew living quaters.
v. w.
A great museum and fantastic piece of history that tells the story of the Royal Navy in the years between 1839 and 1965 in a fascinating way.
B. R.
So as an ex-member of the Royal Navy, after Belfast was decommissioned 😀this was a bit of a let down - especially for the cost. £25 per adult seems really steep, with no veterans or Armed Forces discount. If we want to keep the memory alive of what the ship achieved, let's price it better - lots of other things competing for your hard earned cash - could do with some TLC and more areas opened up.
I.
HMS Belfast is the first warship memorial I’ve ever visited. She was a Town-Class light cruiser built in 1936 and served the Royal Navy until 1963, when she became the memorial in the Imperial War Museum. When I visited her in 2017, I got a lot of history and details from visiting her inside. For example, the specifications combine campaigns and history. A wonderful place to visit. If I could go back to visit her again, I would 100% go. From the point of view of a World War 2 history lover, she is one of the most iconic in that period until now. I recommend seeing her tower, inside turret, and engine room. Inside, we can see many details of how the sailors live there and other things such as weapons around the ships. After visiting her, you can go to buy some souvenir kinds of stuff from her aft.
N. G.
An amazing insight into a world you've only ever seen on world war 2 movies! You'll really need a good 3 hours to take it all in and be good with stairs to experience all it has to offer. Don't forget there is a cafe on board too!
P. P.
Unique and one of a kind experience which we all recommend. You can feel the smell of the history- literally! Special thanks to Mr. Bernie Bristoll who was a leading radio operator on this ship. Thank you for sharing some of your wonderful stories with us and teaching us the Morse Code! You are an absolute Legend Sir - thank you 🙏🏻 and God bless you.
E. F.
Absolutely gorgeous ship. Really interesting to visit her and learn what it was like for her crewmen, as well as how she was designed, and the feats she and her crewmen accomplished. The staff are really friendly and knowledgeable about the ship.
11/10 - would visit again
G. P.
Really great museum. Very interesting stories and information on people who sailed on the ship and good access to different parts of the ship. Lots of steep ladders/stairs to navigate. It's expensive to enter but worth it.
G. S.
The IWM does such an amazing job with the museums in the UK. The exhibits are so well presented and restored to such a high standard. The staff and volunteers are polite friendly and well informed at all times. I've never been disappointed with a visit. Maybe I should become a member 🤔
V. c.
This was one of a kind amazing experience. Truly outstanding. Please ensure to visit this place.
A. F. _.
It's amazing if you like ships and the 153mm or 6inch guns are amazing to look at, you can explore every part of the ship and you have unlimited time to do so,
T. C.
Not the first time I've visited and won't be the last, a great day out for all the family and you always see something new when you revisit.
W. R.
Very nice adventure. A peace of history. Well worth the time to explore
K. C.
I was a young child when I first visited HMS Belfast and really enjoyed it. Having returned as an adult, this is still a very enjoyable day out. I am so appreciative that the Imperial War Museum have kept this beautiful ship in such good order over these many years. As this was a used war ship, there are many confined spaces and tight staircases, trying to get around with a digital SLR camera around your neck, takes a little careful maneuvering. That all said, this is an amazing, educational and fun family day out.
I. S.
This place is a national treasure, well laid out routes through the ship, plenty of audio information and really fascinating to see.
R. I.
Great attraction to visit in London but you can spend a lot longer there than you’d think as there’s so much to see. What was surprising (& disappointing) is that you cannot upgrade a day ticket to an annual pass if you agree to gift aid on your initial payment.
S. M.
Lots and lots of ladders!! But there is an accessible lift if you need it. Very interesting and brilliant for kids to explore! Wrap up warm for the top decks, it gets very cold on the river.
R. M.
This is a great museum. They have done a great job of setting up the ship for people to get around to see everything. The guides were very friendly, engaging, and knowledgeable. Lots of things also to engage children.
s. b.
Brilliant visit. Very well laid out and interesting, especially the engine room. Lots of going up and down stairs. Will visit again in the future. Narration free with admission. Our Grandchildren age 6 and 7 enjoyed it. Grandson was particularly impressed with the torpedo and visited the engine room twice.
M. W.
So interesting! Spent way longer here than we thought but I wish we got an audio guide. Will probably be back
R. A.
Brilliant, to walk through this ship is to walk through history. I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in the Royal Navy and the exploits of HMS Belfast. The whole tour gives you some idea of the conditions during peace and wartime that members of the ship's crew had to put up with. It was run like a finely tuned engine everyone knew what to do
and helped one another. They were all indeed family. The IWM Staff manning the ship are very polite and helpful and you may even get a telegraphist to help you to send a Morse Code message.
Z. D.
Excellent on all levels. Plenty of bathrooms every where. Signs throughout. Totally worth the entry fee! Incredible experience views an history
K. S.
Highly recommend a trip.
Well worth the entry price.
We spent two hours on board, didn't rush and didn't dawdle.
Telephone style guides are easy to use and give just the right amount of information. Real life guides are helpful and informative.
Lots of ladders!
M. R.
Good experience with knowledgeable volunteers on the ship. Make sure to go inside the rearmost turret (Z) as they have experience that plays on loop. The front (A) turret has a video on its history as do a number of other key sections on the ship. Plenty of places to take photos too.
R. M.
Great piece of history in the middle of London. Fully recommended for all ages
N. C.
A great monument with lots of stories going back 80 years. It's really impressive seing the complexity of the operation. The ship is huge, most of its sections could be visited. The rooms are staged depicting the life of the crew.
The sacrifice each crew member had to endure to perform at their best is overwhelming.
I would definitely recommend visiting the ship. The kids also would love it.
F. Y.
Couldn't visit as gates closed at 4PM although museum closes at 5. Maybe next time
R. A.
Fun tour very interesting
K. S.
Wow this was my first visit on board and what a fantastic ship to visit. There is so much to see that time just flies by. Some of the stairs are very steep and I'd recommend not having a back pack as it makes it awkward when moving around in some of the tighter spaces. Will definitely be back.
B. L.
This is a great opportunity for everyone to learn a part of the British history.
Ita an amazing ship and its impossible to describe the glory of it in a few words or pictures.
Its absolutely a must visit in London.
Its an ideal destination for the whole family to spend one day for an unforgettable experience.
Highly recommended.
M. W.
Great visit - managed all the decks, from the lowest to the highest. Marvellous piece of WW2 history, makes you fully aware of how cramped and difficult it must have been for the sailors on board, and also appreciate their service to this Country. Such an iconic landmark in a fabulous position. Highly recommend.
J. M.
Really interesting. I took my 8 year old daughter and she loved it. Going up and down the ladders, and seeing how people served on a warship was fantastic fir her. And a grat location
B. K.
Went there because of a family member recommendation. What a lovely family time I had! Lots to learn and see. I believe we spent there 3 hours including quick lunch in a fresh air. Cafe staff could've been friendlier, but anyone else we encountered was really friendly and helpful. I found audio guide really interesting although I've seen plenty of people not using them at all.
Prepare for lots of steep ladders.
G. R.
Fantastic & intriguing what life was like on this ship during service times. We pre booked but arrived 1/2 late due to traffic ( even on an early Sunday morning)! No problems getting in . We spent nearly 2 hours there . My 16yo daughter loved the interactive games. It was very informative. We both enjoyed it . Next stop was The Shard which was close by. An enjoyable day. London Bridge is the nearest tube station then a 5 minutes walk.
P. G.
A wonderful day out and really got a sense to what it would have been like to live on board. This museum is so well done with lots to see and do. Be prepared for a few ladders. Iwm membership proving to be such a great gift. Will be back.
S. F.
Lovely ship with an awesome history, bit of an eye opener seeing inside the Belfast. Well presented history lesson and a must see.
A. B.
A really good day out. Lots to see, lots to learn. Very friendly and helpful staff. And a canteen that's worth a long visit.
T. S.
I visited HMS Belfast on Saturday. Once we got to the ticket office, the place looked quite nice however, in my opinion the ticket prices were a bit pricey. Once we walked over to the ship from the bridge, there were ticket checks. After we got through, you can pretty much go wherever you like within the ship. Most rooms are open for you to explore. There are also a lot of screens with narration to explain the history of the ship which was very good. I decided I wanted to go down and have a look at the engine and boiler room. The ladders were very steep and not very safe and it requires you to be slow and steady when going down. Once we got down, I immediately noticed all of the asbestos warning signs. While I was going through the rooms I got lost in the engine room.. Plus, there was a lack of signs indicating to an exit. After about 10 minutes of trying to get out, I eventually found an exit.
Overall, I think it's quite a good place to visit but I'd recommend you be cautious when climbing up a ladder and also be careful when in the engine room and stay close together.
F. N.
Much better than expected with a lot to see and really interesting. Really helpful and friendly staff with a nice cafe on board too. The audio tour wasnt great but the overall visit was fab. Would certainly recommend visiting.
N. F.
Although a bit cliche and touristy this is a really cool and unique place to go, especially located in such a nice area.
The ship is very well maintained and they've established a bit of a 'route' although it isn't super clearly marked - could do with some more directional signage as we noticed people were sometimes confused and ran into each other walking around.
There is a little cafe deep in the belly of the beast and it was actually pretty decent!
The gift shop at the front is nice, albeit pricy, as is the admission. But honestly I would say it is worth it - so cool going deep into the ship or standing under the turrets! Also really liked how there were some interactive displays and videos playing throughout.
There are a few bathrooms on board during the walkthrough also which is nice!
C. F.
Great monument to visit, a little expensive but worth it to look around once. A lot has been modernly restored but there are a lot of original pieces and looking at the artillery and listening to the descriptions of how they work is interesting. Definitely recommend.
S. C.
Took my 13 Yr old as he's a sea cadet and wants to join the navy so thought this would be of interest to him. He loved it!!! Recommend this as a really good place to visit. Lots of steps though as there are 9 decks to this ship! Lots of info around the ship, as well as the choice of audio. I'd recommend giving at least 2hours to comfortably look around and enjoy a cuppa onboard!
S. A.
WWII Cruiser worth spending time to go through all the decks!
S. T.
Such an excellent museum!! Weather your naval history lover of just want to see a cool old warship you will love it. There is plenty for everyone to enjoy! The audio guide is excellent and takes you through even part of the ship with fascinating facts and tons of accounts from actually sailors of the Belfast. Don't miss it! It also provides excellent views of the City! Tower bridge and the tower of London especially!
J. P.
Very enjoyable, children really likes walking around, lots to see, make sure you don't miss the lower decks
D. N.
HMS Belfast is a Royal Navy cruiser moored as a museum ship maintained by the Imperial War museum. There are many panels explaining the several missions throughout the years since 1938. From WW2 against Japan and Germany, and Korean War. She is in reserve and decommissioned since 1963.
It is very interesting to know and see the life and work condition on the ship.
B. T.
What a lot to see and read. Six levels from engines to top deck. Access to most places. You can even sit in the Captains chair. Nice clean toilets. Cafe with friendly staff - sit and drink the excellent coffee while gazing through the porthole up at the Shard! Excellent value for money - you'd be rushed to do it all in 3hrs. Bear in mind lots of steep ladders to climb.
P. C.
This was the most thorough and well done vessel or similar exhibition I've seen. The overall experience was amazing especially considering their involvement in so many engagements of magnitude - from a ship perspective. But then the multimedia interactive experience both digital and analog were extremely thoughtful and well done!!
S. G.
Very informative. Great photo opportunities.
Would advise you go as early as possible to beat the crowds.
Really close to Tower Bridge if you wanted to combined with one of the Tower Bridge tours.
There are discounted tickets available online if you book in advance but bear in mind the museum is run mostly as a charity and your tickets help fund the upkeep and further restoration of the ship.
There are toilet facilities and refreshments available on board (cash only in the cafe).
There are lots of steep, narrow stairwells to take you from deck to deck. Wear sensible shoes and trousers!
D.
An iconic and truly unique experience. There's really not many WW2 era ships left around and out of those, this is one of the very last light cruisers that can be seen in the flesh. Don't miss out whilst it still exists! It might not be around forever!
K. “. F.
I am lucky enough to say that I have not only been on the Belfast but to have my ship tied up along side her. Definitely a great experience, I try and visit military museums every chance I can. And this was by far the best display I have ever had the pleasure of viewing. Just so much to see and learn, definitely cool to see how it was on other ships during the time period. And cool to see how our ships have changed over the years ! Lots to learn from this visit and I definitely recommend it to anyone even if they aren't into the military, good way to kill a couple hours !
a. g.
2hrs flew by in this interesting and informative landmark. We all (2 adults & a 7yr old) loved it, enjoying the sights & smells and interactive exhibitions. The staff were great and the only ‘negative’ was the physical effort involved in climbing the narrow stairs.
P. S.
Dont miss it, a very nice wat to see the life inside war ship
M. C.
Very interesting and gives you a feeling of what it was like in the past. You do need a certain level of fitness to get up and down the different floors as it is all ladders. My Auntie who is 74 managed very well.
A. R.
For the price of entry, this piece of maritime and military history is well worth the cost.
Allow yourself at least 2-3 hours to enjoy the extensive tour around the ship and don't forget to take advantage of the audio tour device on offer at the entrance.
Wheelchairs are available, along with lifts to some parts of the ship. However, not all areas are accessible with one.
If it's pouring with rain, this is a great option for a day out.
K. M.
My father served on her guarding the artic convoys in the war, so it was a trip down memory lane for me. She's a beautiful ship, who earned her place in the history books. Explored all nine decks, fascinating insight into what life would have been like at that time. Definitely worth a visit.
C. C.
Visited with my 14 year old son and we both had a great time exploring and learning about the ship and its crew. There was so much to see and do and the addition of the headsets so you can hear information as you go around was great. We were very impressed with the smells that had been added to certain areas, very clever. We ate lunch in the cafe which I found was a little on the expensive side, £18.50 for 2 egg and cress sandwiches, 2 bottles of water, a muffin and a scone. However it was very tasty and we enjoyed it. We spent around 2 hours on the ship and learnt a lot, definitely recommend a visit!
W. H.
Really interesting day out. You really get to explore this mid 20th century warship which floats in the Thames and come away with a good understanding of what it must have been like on board in and after the Second World War.
Lots up climbing up and down but the explanations are really good. A few exhibits are a bit dated but the core materials are great and it actually smells like a warship!
Also a really unusual set of views of London from the middle of the river.
Probably not so good for really young children, but from 5/6 upwards it’s great.
j. j.
If you like to see a ww2 engineering history you must visit HMS Belfast.
I spent more time rounding around boiler rooms, engine room, turbines etc.
You climb down few levels and you walk all around narrow walkways between valves, pipes, and all other mechanical infrastructure of the ship.
The turbine shells are opened so you'll see the blades exposed.
Overall it is a well kept museum that is definitely worth visiting.
M. M.
I really enjoyed my visit and tour around this cruiser which saw service during WW2. You get to see how every aspect and function of the ship fitted together as you explore the full length and many decks of this ship. Be prepared to climb many steep steel ladders as you pass between the nine decks. Don't miss the "Gun Turret" experience with the simulated firing of it's 16"cannons complete with smoke, sound and vibrations. The "Shell Room" where munitions were stored and transported to the gun turrets is also one of my favourite parts of the ship.
There are toilets on board and plenty of audio/written material to help you get the most from your visit.
Definately 5 stars and value for money. My only criticism would be that the free audio guides should have headsets so you can listen to the interesting commentary "hands free"
S. L.
I've not been aboard since I was a kid (45 years ago) but it still looks fantastic.
a. k.
If you're into technology or ships or history or even would like a new experience, do visit this museum, they seamless portray how upto 1000 people lived, worked and survived during their missions. These are few of the many pictures I click while I was on board the battleship.
K. S.
Came here for a school trip last year all the way from Cornwall. Night accommodation for school and scout groups which was a great experience. Alot of the things are preserved with great exhibitions and re creations. Very welcoming and friendly staff, represents the history well. One thing I would change is how cold it is one moment and a bit stuffy the next. Nice view of the Shard from aboard.
D. S.
Great museum to visit and very factual. Always wanted to go and was worth the price however I wouldn't recommend this for young children or people who can't walk or climb as access around the ship is by ladders and staircases that you have to climb down backwards. Very traditional but not if you have issues walking or have small children.
D. P.
Be prepared to get lost in history, and maybe a ship as well. This is geared to school groups, and history lovers. My wife and enjoyed some parts, but others were kinda boring, or just not that interesting. The problem that made me most frustrated was the fact that there was not a good map, or path. After about 20 min we decided we had had enough, and tried to find the way out. There was no hope, we kept getting stuck going up and down without any way out. Our 20 min turned into 40. So be prepared to get lost.

A classic real war ship experience in the heart of London.
r. j. r.
Served with distinction. This amazing
ship is now a museum. If you're into
WW2 Naval History then this is for you.
Inside, a warren of living history. A lot
goes on below deck. Well worth seeing
despite the staircases. Huge respect for
all those that served.
S. T.
Wow what an experience.. the smells made your imagination come in to play what a great atmosphere! Cafe is was a nice little treat on board.
R. M.
An immersive experience, with a good audio guide, excellent lighting & sound effects and brilliantly designed access to many key parts of the ship that all serve to show what an amazing ship the Belfast is, what life was like on board, and how she was involved in some key operations in 20th century UK history.
If you think you'll enjoy it set aside at least three hours for your visit.
K. H.
Wish I had more time, this is one of the most truly awesome places to visit to grasp a sense of real recent history. Young and old will truly not be disappointed, and the heroic stories within are testament to the courageous men who served on this vessel, you can sense what life was truly like. An exhibit like no other.... Will be back to revisit for sure
N. S.
Fantastic day out. My little one loved it, so much to see.
Not advisable though for people with bad back or knees.
Also not with babies in a pram.
Loads of steep steps to go up and down through port holes.
But def worth a visit, plenty of things to see and do in the area also.
B. D.
10/5! It's a bit expensive, but really worth it, audio guide is included in your ticket. You get to explore every nook and cranny of this ship. You walk around the engines, tight areas and you can have a seat in the captains seat. Everything is nicely displayed and looks like the real deal (e.g. Shells and "working" radar systems). Not recommend if you have some disabilities though, some stairs are very steep and you need to step over quite some things, so it's easy to trip if you're not paying attention, but in the end it's ship, so yeah... also a note that it's full of asbestos, it's safe though but worth mentioning since almost every pipe is covered in this stuff and you sometimes have to navigate closely around them.
M. P.
Nice. Well preserved was ship. You can see basically all of the decks and departments. Very interesting to see how life would be on this stunning WWII Ship. Shame the cafe was closed.
E. B.
We spent at least three hours on the ship and still felt like we hadn't seen everything. The audio guide is very informative and the turret experience was good. The only negative thing is how expensive it is £91 for five of us. All in all a good day.😁
M. R.
Fascinating opportunity to explore 9 decks and many features of a 1940's - 1970's warship. Great interactive displays and opportunity to learn a lot of history. The gun turret experience is very loud. It made a grown man scheme when we visited it.
R. J. (.
I love it, it such an interesting ship, it's history, importance. Worth a visit for anyone interested in history. Would suggest to order tickets day before at least or use London pass, and mind with small kids as it can be a challenge to get stuck little Billy from gaps and pipes inside! :D
G. B.
History at it's best. Get to see how the ship worked, how the soldiers lived and the story from ship set sail to it became a museum at the Thames. A must see for tourist and local residents.
R. S.
Arguably the most iconic among the warships used by the British navy. It's very well preserved. It's definitely a 'must-watch' for the lovers of history and warfare.
Loved the tour. Thanks to the fantastic volunteers who are working tirelessly to keep the ship in a good state.
The highlight of my trip was the interactive 'Morse code' session . My daughter even received a certificate for learning how to use Morse code.
D. S.
Wow, a true a piece of British history. We came at 10 and were here till 3 and only just got to see everything my 10 year old loved it, altho I would suggest for any younger than 7 it may become "boring". The ship is exactly as it was apart from minor things they needed to do so people could visit it. The engine room is very atmospheric as is the medical bays and shell rooms. Honestly there is so much here and the staff we all great - many activities for children to take part in and hand on things. My ten year old said it was really good with lots of fun things to do and he said he'd knew he walked a lot but didn't feel like it because it was so good. Lots here for old and young a like and great to find out about the crew of the ship to. Well worth the entry fee.
C. S. B.
To be on board a 2nd World War cruiser was amazing. Wondering around the ship gave you an idea of what life would have been like working below decks. If you have an interest in WW2, well worth a visit. FYI, lots of steep ladder type steps to climb!!
I. L.
Awesome. The scale of a ship like this (which isn’t even that big these days) is bewildering.
Lots of historical details and points of interest to give visitors insight into the vessel and the service to the navy.
A great alternative work out, don’t realise how much you’ve walked until you disembark!
I. S.
A good venue for a rainy day as it's mostly undercover. Got a good all round impression of what life must have been like living and working on board a ship. Free audio tour.
M. S.
First went aboard in 2014, you start at the stern of the ship, climb inside one of the main turrets and hear the story of how 20 people fit inside such a small enclosed space, with guns and explosions going on off. Make sure to wear sturdy shoes as you traverse the decks of the ships. Was great fun to go around it.
every time i am in london now, i make a point to pass and take photos
B. S.
Had a great visit on HMS Belfast went around mid day on a Saturday and isn't massively packed like some London tourist attractions. The ship has 9 floors for you to explore with lots of interesting rooms and info on the ships history. Ideal for anyone interested in warfare and history or just anybody with mild interest will enjoy themselves.
A. A.
Absolutely amazing to see and explore a War Ship. Changes the whole prospective of what happens in the middle of knowhere.
The ship has 5 levels with slim climbing stairs to access all floors.
Not suitable for wheel chair users due to layout of the ship. Also not suitable for people leg problems.
To explore the ship and depending how you wish to see it, the time frame will be between 1-3 hours.
You are given an hand held mobile device which guides around the ship through audio description.
Less than half of the ship is no entry zone, this maybe to protect historic HMS Belfast.
Not enough signs inside the ship to assist you which direction to follow, therefore you can lose your way and find your self repeating the same part of the ship.
The views from the ship on to Thames are amazing and definitely a place to take pictures and post it on social network.
I will definitely recommend anyone to explore HMS Belfast.
J. M.
The cleanest bathroom in all of London!
Jokes (not a joke, it seriously was the cleanest) aside, this was one of my favorite experiences in London. The audio guide is very informative and you can explore all over the ship. You could easily spend 4 hours here. Definitely wear casual clothes (pants) and comfortable shoes so you can get up and down the ladders. This would not be a great experience with very little kids or older folks.
R. A.
This is one of the best things to see in London, the excellent free audio tour leads you all over the ship, the history of life on board is amazing, the ship itself looks as though its battle ready still and could easily be sent out to war again, a definite must see and you can easily spend 2 to 3 hours if not more wandering around the decks, the engine and boiler rooms are a tight fit but a must see if you can get down the steep ladders, not ideal for really young children but the rest of the ship is, I'll definitely be back again in the future
S. P.
Very cool experience, that is if you like war history. would highly recommend fro those who do, not suitable for parents with babies as there isn't alot of room for maneuvering. Entry was quite expensive. You can get a very cool photo with tower hill bridge
G. J.
Classic cruiser. Well worth a visit.
We spent about three hours walking around.
Really enjoyed seeing the old ship and hearing the various stories of the service men who served on her.
C. B.
HMS Belfast is one of the attractions in the center of London that it's definitely worth the entrance for sure. You should add this to your list when in London even if you are not that much into history. The shape of HMS Belfast is really really good and you can see some really beautiful war history at its finest. The audio guides are free and you can find out some interesting facts and details. I recommend spending 2-3 hours depending on your schedule.
H. B.
First, a warning. This is a real ship with real passageways and ladders. I doubt US lawyers would allow it. The ladders are steep, the hatchways can be very narrow, and some of the spaces are small and hard to squeeze through. Second, another warning. FOLLOW THE MAP IN ORDER! The words "No Entry" mean "Don't come this way." I had to wait five minutes for four terrified children and their parents to come down a long ladder which was an "up" ladder.
Now to the review. Almost every part of the ship is open to the public and it is a fairly big ship. There are many decks and it is quite a workout, even for the fit. I'm a 61-year-old overweight man with bad knees, but still did the entire tour. You definitely need to take the free audio guide, which is informative. Also have the free map handy. You can't navigate the ship with it, but it has all the stations listed in order so you just follow the numbers. If you miss a number, you're going the wrong way. Backtrack and try again.
This is not just an old ship from an important era. HMS Belfast served in the Arctic and was the second ship to open fire during the Normandy landings.
For a nation that "ruled the waves," HMS Belfast is, unfortunately, one of only three WW2-era ships left. (The others are the submarine HMS Alliance in Gosport and HMS Cavalier, a destroyer in Chatham.) It has a small but decent cafe and is closest to the London Bridge Tube station.
V. D.
The most exciting sight in whole London if you're interested in war history. The museum's staff has done their best to let you experience what it really feels to be on such a large battle ship! All the smells, sounds, wax statues and decorating are taking you back 100 years ago! The audioguides are quite handy including some real stories along the way from the museum's archives. It's also great for kids though you should mind the steep stairs between the floors of the ship in case children are not quite tall still.
C. D.
Very interesting and was great to meet Bernie! It was my dad's 78th birthday he really enjoyed our visit.
M. H.
Enjoyable experience, take time to go around the vessel and ask questions if you are not sure of anything
T. J. B.
Amazing to see a genuine warship from history up close! You get to explore all the areas as you'd expect, but be prepared to duck, climb and squeeze your way around this space!!
Really cool to see the inner workings - you can really imagine what it might have been like aboard for the sailors!
Amazing 10/10 worth a visit - especially when 2-4-1 tickets when travelling by rail!
J. T.
Much of the ship is not accessible. It’s also been modified with a dining room, public restrooms, canopies and fencing. So it doesn’t much resemble the proud cruiser that she is. That said, they do have some interesting exhibits complete with sound and manikins
P. H.
Excellent way of teaching Grandchildren history. Spent 2 hours on board but could have been.longet. The volunteers were happy to explain details. Intend doing a further visit
G. S.
I would highly recommend visiting the HMS Belfast. I would recommend wearing trainers as there are a lot of narrow stairs you will be going down. Their is also an option of having an electronic device that will reveal historical and/or interesting facts about the ship.
L. G.
I have to say, was planning this trip for long long time now, and finally went, and didnt get disappointed at all, as there is plenty to see, even that one floor was closed for refurbishment, there is loads to see, load of history, loads of old stuff to see, look at some photos ive have taken, and book to go there. Had some good experience and good time. Took us around 3 hours. And worth the money, staff is great and helpful.
Thank you.
M. C.
I visit this place with my family 6 years ago, and revisit it last week. This time I just sit at the cafe outside it for 90 minutes and did not go inside. Howver my last experience is very good. Being a Hong Kong Chinese and can hear they use Cantonese in the laundry and cooking department makes me feel so at home, and thanks the museum to accurately repost this. I use the Bristish Rail 2-for-1 offer last time, so the entrence fee is more reasonable.
I. S.
Visited on a lovely day very interesting and fascinating few hours. Seeing the conditions those sailors worked and fought in just makes you realise how brave they were. Small Cafe on board and and other facilities at the ticket office. Steep ladders and tight spaces. Audio units included in the price.
B.
It was an awesome ship! I liked the visit. It was a bit expensive but it was cool that you could see a lot. There was enough to see for a few hours. The only thing that I would like is a wardrobe and a place where you can store bags. I think there must be an enough space somewhere. Now I had to go to Waterloo station.
L. B.
Really interesting visit. See what life on board was like, from the radar room to the dentist's office. Each room is perfectly reproduced including the sound effects. Finally, before leaving, don't forget to stop on the deck to take a photo of the London bridge! Best view ever from the ship!
M. “. A.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Exploring the ship providing an excellent experience of a ww2 cruiser... though for the uninitiated it is simply a very big warship and where else in the UK will you see anything like this? Deserves a visit as this is the last of it's kind...
S. S.
Truly impressive to exoerience real history....
N. D.
Brilliant. Audio tour well worth a listen.
R. r.
Great experience but you need to be careful, lots of potential to bang your head or shins if you're not careful
D.
My husband and 4 year old visited and had a fantastic time. My husband described it as one of the best museum-type places he has ever been to and would definitely visit again.
D. W.
What a wonderful ship this is. Cutting edge technology that could get this Battleship up to 36 knots.
A small town with the same power and services. Shops, Dentist, Joinery, Machine Shop, Butchers, Baker's, Surgery, etc etc.
This ship is so big people couldn't find there way out. Brilliant.
B. O. A.
Awesome! Everything was perfect!
They definitely have an amazing chef, food is so delicious 🤤🤤
D. M.
Our ship sailed up the Thames, under the open Tower Bridge and moored right next to the HMS Belfast. To go ashore we had to walk through the Belfast and caught a Tender across the Thames.
M. B.
A brilliant museum and experience. Me and my parenter, who is also ex-military, were really excited to visit HMS Belfast for an informative and enjoyable experience and we weren't disappointed; in fact, me got more than we were expecting! We didn't realise the size and scale of the museum, that there were so many floors different rooms to explore. I particularly liked the fact the audio guide was free, which we used the entire way around and it was very informative, and I particularly enjoyed listening to veterans of the ship giving their own accounts of how the ship worked and their roles and experiences. My favourite part was the gun turret experience at the beginning, it gave me goosebumps!
B. d. S.
If are passionate about II War History, you must visit HSM. Beyond to see an original battleship you can touch almost all part of the machinery, it's amazing. Another thing: they recreate daily life sailors thought sounds and arranged scenarios.
R. N.
Excellent! Well worth the visit, very interesting and lots to learn. A remarkable effort has been put into the displays and effects from sounds through to smells.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, and very willing to chat.
Be prepared for lots of narrow spaces and ladders/stairs and you will do fine
R. M.
Very good part of the IWM so fascinating and interning. The best bit is the ship is the same way since the adenine world war. Overall it’s an amazing trip and use a lot of time to explore the ship.
D. B.
A real day out experience. Very cold day but warm and welcoming inside . A vast Ship in marvelous condition with life-like scenes of crew at work all over ship. Plenty of room to stand up everywhere. Intricate explanitary details every where. Just a cross road from London Bridge Station.
A. B.
For me this was one of the best museums I visited in my life, because it is a totally different kind of experience. I really recommend for kids, adults and seniors. Amazing.
J. F.
Really good at least two hours experience if you are fascinated in life on the ship all those years ago...lots to learn and imagine!! 😊 The also have things to look for for children..
G. L.
Fantastic place to visit. Took my two year old grandson and he thoroughly enjoyed the ship. He was encouraged to play with everything by the tour guides and boy did he. Best three hours I've spent in London for many years. Thank you everyone on HMS Belfast for making it a memorable visit which we are sure to repeat
N. S.
I was unsure if if enjoy this or not but it was absolutely fantastic! We went in the week so there were a few school trips causing congestion on the stairs, one school in particular where the teacher insisted on taking a picture of every child individually coming up the stairs despite causing major queues! But after that we just tried to be smart and avoid the school groups. You could see so much more than I ever thought you'd be able to, it was brilliant and id 100% recommend going.
G. T.
Set aside at least 2 hours for this visit.
Obviously if you are not up for climbing up and down narrow metal stairs through bulkheads, then this place is not for you.
Baggage of any kind (even backpacks) should not be taken along with you. Climbing between decks, through narrow openings, physical restrictions apply.
If you ask, you will get a free audio device containing 29 audio tracks that support places of interest aboard ship.
The route marking was somewhat lacking as a couple of times we came across groups heading the wrong way which is problematic in the narrow confines of a ship.
Great photo opportunities of the river and city while aboard ship.
If this review is helpful please press like.
S. W.
A fantastic exhibit to visit which gives a real opportunity to experience some recent history. The ship is well laid out for visitors and there is plenty to see and explore (it took me about 2 hours to get around, I think I saw everything). Access is tight in some areas, especially going down to the engine room and using the ladders to move between decks. However, this adds to the experience and gives you a flavour of what it would have been like for the sailors on board (although without the high ocean waves, artic conditions and threat of being attacked and sunk). Well worth a visit.
B. N.
9/10 very cool and informative the lack of real food in the cafeteria was a bit SUSpicious 🤨🤔 but as a old dwindling prune it pleases me that I could play scrabble and bingo in the crews quarters and I got to sit on the captains seat only disappointing thing was the lack of live ammunition in the battery’s🙏🙏🙏 - (the following was poeticised by the heir of this email address) ROFL
D. H.
I greatly enjoyed this tour. You get tons of access to very much of the ship. The AV show in the stern gun was awesome. I very much enjoyed this tour. Completely worth it!
c. s.
Brought me back to the glory days in 'Nam.' I loved the experience of showing my family my quarters for so many yonks.
B. C.
Interesting, not too busy, just watch out for all the stairs over 9 decks
B. K.
This is the type of museum that I love. You can discover simply the whole ship, from bottom to the top. But be careful there are some waxguy to scare the s**t out of you.
S. B.
Walked past HMS Belfast so many times on the South Bank. What a treasure! For 16 quid you can spend hours in here. There is so much to discover, learn and interact with. You get more or less the full run of the vessel from captains quarters down to the boiler and engine rooms. Go inside the big guns and see how the machinery below enabled so many missiles to be fired in quick succession. Cannot recommend this enough - probably one of the best floating museums I have ever visited. It opens 10.00am-5.00pm usually but check first before making your visit. This is a must see if you are in London!
B. C.
Great experience as my father served on it during second world war staff and volunteer workers very helpful
A. P.
Lovely experience on board of the last light cruiser of World War 2 you can visit in Europe. It is well kept and offer a good visit. Wasn't a problem for me, but the amount of ladders can be for some people.
Thanks you for keeping that ship and allowing us to learn the history of her, and the people who served.
R. W.
The HMS Belfast was a really cool experience. You can pay a small fee to walk around and explore the ship.
There are something like 9 levels to explore and a tonne of information points spread around to learn about how the ship and its history.
It’s kitted out throughout with replica models of ship workers to give a sense of what it would have looked like in service.
A lot of the pets of the ship are hard to access as you have very narrow, tight corridors and tiny step ladders to climb up and down. Whilst this made the experience very fun for the fit and confident on their feet, it was tough for everyone else. There were a lot of queues to get up and down the stairs whilst waiting for young children, elderly or less confident people to navigate around.
I’d recommended a visit if you’re close by and interested in military history, just plan to be there a couple of hours and wear sensible shoes.
s. a.
Brilliant and really worth a visit. Great history facts and very informative. Not suitable for people who cannot walk around as it is a lot of up and down ladders. There is a small cafe on board. We had tea and carrot cake. Excellent!
K. L.
Absolutely amazing museum.
Price is a bit steep for some, but it's definitely worth it.
Museum is well organized, clean and very interesting. You can see all the important places and staff is always around if you happen to have a question.
Beautiful museum for the most beautiful ship in the world.
C. N.
One of the best thing to visit when you are in London.
R. P. R.
One of the attraction with London pass. Will suggest one time visit. Was informative about Navy, world war, torpedos etc.. Very close to Tower Bridge.
l. j.
Great experience with historic war ship Hms Belfast it was a great honor to be in the legendary war machine, with lots of heroic history. Unbelievable technology on that time's. Respect to the authorities who still keep it like a gold. Salute..
G. C.
Best museum ship ever as there is very little that is not open to view. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit, and a superb setting...
S. R.
Loads to do and look at. Lots of interactive displays. 6yo and 9yo loved it as well as us older ones!
陳.
It's a great museum. I spent more than 3 hours there. You can take more picture. And you can know something about this warship which joined the World War 2
a. m.
It is not everyday you get to walk into history and this was something I was not going to miss. The turret experience with loud explosive sounds and smoke was a god introduction. The areas to walk around are quite extensive and you can defend svc ascend several decks. A little difficult for primary school age kids, but they loved exploring.
A. R.
HMS Belfast is a Town-class light cruiser that was built for the Royal Navy. She is now permanently moored as a museum ship on the River Thames in London and is operated by the Imperial War Museum.
Construction of Belfast, the first ship in the Royal Navy to be named after the capital city of Northern Ireland and one of ten Town-class cruisers, began in December 1936. She was launched on St Patrick's Day 1938. Commissioned in early August 1939 shortly before the outbreak of the Second World War, Belfast was initially part of the British naval blockade against Germany. In November 1939, Belfast struck a German mine and, in spite of fears that she would be scrapped, spent more than two years undergoing extensive repairs. Belfast returned to action in November 1942 with improved firepower, radar equipment, and armour. Belfast saw action escorting Arctic convoys to the Soviet Union during 1943 and in December 1943 played an important role in the Battle of North Cape, assisting in the destruction of the German warship Scharnhorst. In June 1944, Belfast took part in Operation Overlord supporting the Normandy landings. In June 1945, she was redeployed to the Far East to join the British Pacific Fleet, arriving shortly before the end of the Second World War. Belfast saw further combat action in 1950–52 during the Korean War and underwent an extensive modernisation between 1956 and 1959. A number of further overseas commissions followed before she entered reserve in 1963.

Best 4hrs in London in my life for the money. a truely memorable experience. JDI!
O. I.
Very excited being there: all that emotions surrounded me thinking about those crewmembers living and fighting on the HMS Belfast.. wow!! Worth every second being in a little part of a bitter sweet history...
L. B.
Really enjoyed this, it is a bit of a maze to get around but I’m pretty sure we saw the whole thing. Plan on at least 90 minutes to do everything. Staff can be a bit rude towards the end of the day but understandable when they’ve been dealing with tourists all day.
S.
I think the price is fair considering we had a great time and my children certainly enjoyed their experience so much that we will be returning. Highly recommend.
G. L. K.
I've been in a large number of museum ships. This one is done exceptionally well. If you want to get a feel for life on a Royal Navy ship, this is worth your visit!
D. T.
Great example of a British warship. It fought in both WW2 and the Korean war.
The experience gives you a good example of what life was like on board one of these vessels.
It is as it was, which make the museum as real as it gets. We spent about 2 hours on board, but we could have stayed longer.
Just be warned that there are a lot of ladders to walk up and down.
A. H.
Been on my bucket list for a few years, ticked off at last. Well worth the wait, a great place to visit, much bigger than I thought, good for children to explore, quite a few almost vertical steps but nothing to much of a challenge. You can do it.
B.
Very good ship however I think they need to install some new latest technology nuclear missiles and then it will be top grade.
A. S.
Amazing ship with a huge history. Yeomen are extremely knowledgeable and have helped relatives find the exact places on the Ship where the bygone photos have been taken
R. S.
Accessible for all as there r lifts & toilets for both able & disabled persons. Good views along the River Thames, & a historic ship too.
Very interesting.
F.
A very good museum that's easy to reach and don't bleed you dry paying for entry. If there is jus one snag in the entire experience it is the labyrinth that this boat is. Even with the map it is a bit of a chore, but when you lose it you get lost very quickly (which I did). There are so many things to see and read and if you opt in for the audio guide you have no problems spending 3-4 hours here. Be warned on a hot day the ship gets hot on the upper decks, but cool and nice on the lower ones. This is not a museum for those with poor mobility and fear of cluttered and cramped spaces as there's plenty of those. 2hiost you can enter the main deck on a wheelchair that's just about what you can, roam the main deck, as anything beneath and above require steep stairs (face the stairs when using them!!! There are signs telling you to, but saw several people having problems understanding this and got into hazardous situations racing down the stairs 😁). And when you get too hot or cold or a bit tired, there's a cafe where you can buy smal treats and beverages (hot and cold). Absolutely a must if your a bit interested in the navy or WW2.
T.
Looks amazing at night!
J. S. S.
If you are a WWII History buff, you can visit this retired warship at Thames. The experience of going through the various levels of decks of the ship is a good one.
F. T.
Great place to explore for young and old. However, nor for the mobility challenged. Ladders a plenty and narrow passages. Obvious, but still has to be mentioned.
A. G.
This was way more fun than I thought it would be. It’s ace to be able to explore a battle ship and go anywhere in it 😊 go if you have time you’ll love it
g. b.
It is a great day out a fantastic look into a ww2 era Naval vessel. Well worth the trip and the money! Highly recommend it to anyone!!
C. C.
Very fun experience for the family while in London. The audio guide is very informative and the tour is very well done. Little ones might need assistance with the steep ladders going from deck to deck. Not wheelchair or stroller friendly if you want to venture off the main deck. Great place to visit for some WW2 naval history
L.
HMS Belfast was a town class light cruiser at "WW2" and the only survivor of the fleet on D-DAY. and also went to Korean war after maintenance... is one of the landmarks that you have to visit in London.. Now it's working as a museum between London bridge and tower bridge and the entrance is £17 for adults and £12.50 for students... if you're a big guy mind your head and the ladders cause are quite small and short
M. M.
Fabulous day out and really great interactive info. It's a must do for everyone 👍👍👍
O. L.
Piece of war history. Visit HMS Belfast and you will feel like you are living in the era of WW 2, especially like living in a movie. I loved so much the vibes I shared with my wife in the ship and the excitement and joy we felt by scrolling through the rooms ofthe soldiers and the ones of the captain and his assistant. I would love to go back there very often. If you are a fan if history,do not miss out this chance.
A. B.
A different experience compared to other museums. Small hallways, narrow stairs, asbestos and the smell of machinery and metal ads to a realistic experience of what it's like to live on the ship. Loved the mannequins and the weapon simulator.
Z.
A really nicely preserved ship that has great effort put in to create an realistic atmosphere of how it actually was for the sailors. This is for me a must see when coming to London according to me (that might be because Im interested in WWII). They even had a mini snack bar with snacks from the 40s to show us what the sailors might have bought during their journeyman. At the time when I was there in the fall it was not too crowded so you could move around freely as you wished without any problems which I also greatly value.
C. W.
Absolutely fantastic, great adventure for us all, please be aware for the less mobile that there is quite a few ladder steps in between deck, but well worth the effort and hugely rewarding
P. B.
Loads to do here - needs several hours to do it justice. Audioguide in included and contains a wealth of information about the history of HMS Belfast. Great to be able to get hands-on with so much of the ship, but some of the exhibits are looking a bit worn.
M. S.
Could have spent all day there. What an amazing place with so much history. Took my 4 year old there and he loved it.
A. F.
An incredible experience to visit this glorious ship. It is very nice how all the different rooms and areas are displayed with audio, videos, plus complimentary audioguides.
M. R.
I wasn't expecting so much of the HMS Belfast but it's really a brilliant experience 🎉! You can see a lot of things from the kitchen, to the guns and passing through the engine and the ammunition rooms or even the captain's one. You should plan at least 3 hours on board and don't forget to take the audio guide which explains a lot of things.
Bought the ticket on site and it was £17.
P. S.
HMS Belfast is a nice museum ship that is in pretty good condition. The tickets are a little pricy at 25 pounds each but it's for the sake of preserving the ship.
K. E.
Much better than what we expected, it's maintained in a nice way, not suitable for very small kids and not wheelchair friendly. Prepared to climb up and down narrow stairs/ladder
D. O.
Fabulous experience for me being able to access all areas of the ship 🛳 whilst negotiating some steep ladders, audio guide is very helpful and going down to the boiler and engine room was a wonderful experience
B. U.
It was quite late when we went past so it was already closed and we didn't get to go in. It was quite nice seeing it lit up with the Tower Bridge behind it. It is located on the South Bank end between The Tower Bridge and London Bridge. Otherwise, just look out for the ship in the middle of the river.
J. M.
I've been on warships before, more modern frigates. This is huge by comparison, we could have spent much longer roaming her halls. Lots to see and lots of stories to hear. The exhibitions are well though out and the free audio tour is an absolute must.
J. T.
Great piece of history and will definetely kill an hour or two whilst in the area. Went in looking to kill some time not thinking that it was really my sort of thing but was very pleasantly surprised. Had a wonderful time looking around a real battleship and if you want to, they have audio guides available.
M. H.
Very interesting sight. And althou very central location it doesn't attract large crowds (no ques when visiting shortly after opening and still none 2.5 hours later) . Entrance was 18 pound but that includes a Audioguide. (Cheaper if you pre-book online. I forgot doing that ) I feel that the ship was worth the entrance . You need atleast 2.5 hours if doing the selfguided tour with the Audioguide
M. R.
Used Tesco clubcard vouchers to gain entry, definitely worth a visit. Be prepare for lots of stairs up & down as expected on a ship. The children really enjoyed the visit & found it very interesting. 2-3 hours should be sufficient.
T. S.
Definitely a place were you can spend a few hours. Surprisingly enough, there is an enormous amount of things to explore and learn about, let alone take wonderful pictures of the neighbouring sites of London. If you are interested in how the crew of a warship from WW1 lived aboard one of the most famous ships on earth, visit the HMS Belfast!!
S. L.
A must go for adults, kids, veterans, warship enthusiasts etc. Cannot recommend enough. Looking forward to seeing more areas being opened for the general public to see! Also would be great if it also targets more at the adult audience. The volunteers there are amazing. I have nothing but good thing to say about them! Super helpful.
A. L.
Brilliant day. Be prepared to climb up and down ladders to get the full experience. Lots of fun for all the family
F. T.
Excellent museum ship where you can get a glimpse of life on board a warship from WW2 into the Cold War. Lots to see and recommend a few hours to set aside for it!
B. G.
A trip to the past on a warship that served from the Second World War to the Cold War. Explore passageways and learn how the crew managed in cramped quarters. Nearly all areas of the ship are open to visitors with many detailed descriptions and guides to help out.
H. H.
Great day out, even better with free entry with IWM annual family pass. Lots to see and lots of narrow stairs to negotiate!
I. E.
Great day out, plenty to see and do, lots of interesting history and right on our doorstep up the Thames. Hard to comprehend what it would have been like to be up around the attic circle being at war.....
A.
The HMS belfast is a great ship and looks absolutely amazing at day and at night. It is absolutely worth to see it for yourself and to wonder what great good it has done for all of us.
C. K.
A magnificent looking ship. On board is very informative and the models recreate life in the ship, which is a nice touch. Well worth a visit.
P. K.
Great museum. Popular turist attraction definitely worth to see. Interesting part of British history.
H. W.
Wonderful museum ship, takes about 3 hours to explore while taking in all the exhibits.
To those who haven't been in a few years (i remember going with my school) they've gotten rid of those creepy old mannequins and allowed much greater freedom of movement around the ship.
A. R.
For people who like to feel power machines, to experience the history, for real men and powerful women. A pice of England and the British Empire. Good price for value...
C. T.
A must see attraction lovely staff and great ship. Kids loved it as much as me
P. S.
The children said it was amazing. A good variety plenty to see and do
E. R.
I hate wars and everything what is associated with them.
Being forced to visit this warship I was surprised to see my young nephew enjoying himself in full there. Yes this visit was more for him rather than me..I felt claustrophobic and bit uncomfortable.
We all need to remember history, but history of war is not my cup of tea. I wish my nephew and all next generation to avoid dirty politicians games and their pursuit of wealth and power !
Peace for all of us !
L. W.
Very interesting site to visit. You can take advantage of the free audio tour or just walk around and read the information boards. There is a lot of climbing up and down between decks using narrow ladder-like stairways, which adds to the experience immensely as you feel more of what it was like for the sailors on the ship. Well worth the visit and is situated in a good area for other sightseeing.
R. D.
Excellent museum to go to when visiting London. The history of the HMS Belfast is explained in detail together with the option to access large parts of the ship. The engine rooms (well below the water level) and cannon turrets are remarkable highlights of the tour. Recommended. Please like this review if useful. Thank you.
G. G.
The ship is open for visit to the tourists. One can go and look at various levels of the ship and also witness the engineering as well as the history related to ship. You can witness closely the boiler rooms, engine room, communication room, the kitchen and shower room of the ship which were designed in early 19's. London tower bridge is very close to the ship and beautiful picture can be clicked from this ship. Mind your steps and head while walking on the ship. In case you get hurt then first aid is always available on the ship. Toilets and refreshment canteen is also available. Atlest 3 to 4 hours need to be spared for visiting this place in detail.
L.
Had an amazing day out here, service is amazing, staff are friendly and have expert knowledge to answer and and all questions. What they have done really makes the place done to life. There are lots of things to look at and do such as the Gun Turret experience where you get to see a short film and all the guns! Would recommend or all ages although you might need to duck if you are taller!
P. V.
If you like history, you will love this place.
K.
Family fun activity! I couldn’t believe how much my 7 & 8 year old loved this ship. It took us around 4 hours to see it all.
J. L.
War museums are always interesting, and this offshoot of the Imperial War Museum is really an amazing exhibit in and of itself. Takes about two to three hours to enjoy the whole thing oh, and there's plenty of stuff to do on the South bank once you're done. I must see if you're at War historian in London.
M. S.
An absolutely wonderful experience. You can easily spend 4 hours or so on the boat, I'd recommend getting hold of an audio handset (included in the admission price) which gives you far more context on the history and running of the ship. You also get great views of Tower Bridge and The Tower of London from the deck. If you are visiting London, this attraction is a must.
K. F.
Really cool experience. You get to explore all 9 decks of the ship, and it includes an audio guide will all sorts of information. I loved climbing up and down the ladders as they would have, and exploring life on the ship.
I got the joint ticket with the Churchill war rooms to save some money. Some people were complaining about the price but I found it to be worth it. There is a "voluntary donation" included in the fee unless you say you do not want to make the donation. I went on an overcast day in March and there were no problems with crowding.
S. F.
Really worth a visit. Quite a lot of climbing up and down steep ladders if you want to see everything, so you will need to be fairly fit and flexible! You can see what it would have been like to serve in the Navy in WW2 and afterwards (I don't think I could have done it), and it fills me with admiration and gratitude for the guys who did. Great views up and down the river too.
B. M.
Lovely to see the hard work that goes on to keep this old warship going, great day out, lots of climbing down ladders so not ideal for pushchair/toddlers.
N. B.
Mind your head, this old warship served in wartime and in peacetime provides visitors with insight into the conditions and expectations of its occupants. It's an important reminder of what is ensured to serve.
D. M.
Amazing. I had lot of fun.. I was a child again, exploring the vessel. I could feel the history. £19 worth it!!!!
A. B.
Fantastic day ...you can go from the very top of the ship right down into the engine room..some tight ladders to go down and up.
N. P. J.
HMS Belfast Warship is a floating museum which is part of Imperial War Museum in London. This historical ship first launched in 1938 and it has been serving its purpose until 1965. She has been serving Great Britain during World War II and Korean War.
There is an audio guide will accompany you during the visit to its nine decks. You will be told about all the historical events that has been occured or involved in the warship. And you can also visit differnt part of the ship such as sailor quarter, operation room, kitchen, engine room and so on.
Great experience.
I. C.
Buy your tickets online to save a couple of pounds. Expect to spend at least three hours on the ship. It's a wonderful experience, don't miss it, great value for the money.
D. W.
Worth a visit for sure....
G. M.
Unbelievable ship. So much history. A must see.
J. A.
Incredible! Especially if your a navy buff. Beware, the audio tour is excellent, but be careful not to miss anything!
N. D.
Brilliant piece of British Naval history.
A. Ö. R.
If you like seeing the inner workings both of military aswell as technology as radar, big old engines and boilers. From a historic standpoint this museum is amazing and it's like traveling back in time.
J. K.
History and technology enthusiasts can spend hours exploring all the decks, hidden alleys and rooms inside this magnificent ship. Definetly worth the visit.
D. C.
A really enjoyable experience with friendly staff but more so the history on the HMS Belfast. Walking through the corridors and looking into the rooms you really get a sens3 of what it was like for sailors back in the day .... I left havi g had a good time as well as learning something
r. g.
Was absolutely amazing highly recommend this venue to everyone visiting the entire ship was great to see and to look at the history of the ship
J. W.
Very good for a big Day out, make sure you have about three hours to go round! Audio guides are available
C. S.
Theres a lot to see and if you have any interest in this ship or how RN ships were in the past, you will probably need most of the day. Wheelchair accessible, but not everywhere.
Video stations giving further information on the part of ship you are in, abound almost everywhere, many depicting actual historical footage.
There is also a hand held audio link, which is quite complex, but worth a few minutes to learn how to use properly.
a. l.
Highly recommend this to any fans of boats and ships. Any one interested in war history. Thought the price was a little high but we decided to go any way. We were wrong, learned so much on the trip and had free reign to walk around the entire ship. Really enjoyed it and was by far the best part of our trip. Couldn't recommend this enough perfect for the whole family.
N. B.
Great ship, a lot of history. Really enjoyed the informative tour.
F.
Not so many visitor so you can explore this old WW2 ship which anchored in River Thames. A nice stroll fm Tower Bridge nearby.
A. V.
Boom!! This place is a must visit place for anyone to look around the beauty of London Tower Bridge with the nearby all the nice views. Loved this place so much. also, you can be down to nearby lawn as well if you ain't willing to go into the Belfast and enjoy almost same view. But anybody will fall with this place.
R. D.
Wow, this is the third time I’ve been on the Belfast, and it just gets better - there’s much more of the ship to explore these days, even compared to say five years ago ... nice to see they’ve restored the 4” guns, and great to be up close to the Bofors at last! Really enjoyed the audio tour, it really brought the ship to life. Will be back soon with the big camera 👍
B. A.
A fascinating tourist place to visit in London. I went with my teenager daughter who enjoyed exploring it more than any other tourist place. The audio guide is an extra bonus and there is lots of things to explore how the soldiers and captains lived and survived on this ship during the war. A very interesting historical place.
d.
Well worth a visit, at least 5 floors and you can literally see every part of the ship, great details on how it used to operate and a real insight into the harsh conditions onboard. NOTE: lots of steep stairs to climb.
K. S.
It is a really unique ship! It was somewhat crowded, but very interesting. You have to be ok with ladders and tight spaces. I would not reccomend it for people with limited mobility or a dislike of small spaces. They give you a very informative audio guide!
T. B.
Enjoyed it even though we seem to have been stalked by the ubiquitous party of barely-controlled school children.
The ship itself was interesting and you could access most of the interesting stuff.
From an old sailor's point if view, the ship could do with a but of smartening up, eg. rust removed/bunting washed etc. but perhaps I'm just being picky?
Should have signed up for a tour but that's entirely my fault.
S. R.
Good to go inside and visit all 5 levels of the ship. Lot of history inside. You can also view the tower bridge from here.
I.
Fantastic museum with loads of information on display.
Only sad part was that the engine room was closed to visitors the day that we went.
J. H.
Very enjoyable, got to see every nook and cranny of the ship!
K. M.
Impressive story and feeling on this ship. Really insightful, I learned a lot of life on a ship during combat and non-combat.
G. M. Z.
Terrific experience. One of the best stop I did in London. The ticket is not that expansive. The shopping was so big and there is a lot to see inside, more then you expect to see, and in sope parte was a bit scary. Exploring the ship I started thinking : how can they live for months in a so small space? But I guess I will never know. I raccomand this experience to everyone
Z. R.
HMS Belfast is a great ship to visit and the last of her kind. It's surprisingly big, a lot bigger than I thought and you'll spend a couple hours going through the entire ship. If you're interested in the history of world war 2 and/or warships then it's a must to visit.
K. B.
The iconic HMS Belfast is a popular venues for all ages and nationalities. There seems to be more areas open to visitors than ever and you are left to explore the whole ship at your own pace. Ticket prices seem to have been increased recently and charges now apply for children who used to have free entry. There is a cafe on board where you can take a break from exploring because by it's nature it's quite a physical challenge to cover the whole ship in one visit. However you regard the value for money of the visit you be buying yourself a unique experience.
A. M.
Excellent exhibits and audio guide make this a wonderfully immersive experience. A very large part of the ship is preserved or refurbished and open to the public, and without a doubt, one of the best preserved warships I have seen.
M. P.
Having been on HMS Caroline in Belfast and S. S Great Britain in Bristol both had brilliant wheelchair access I was expecting similar but was left disappointed, only 2 levels accessible and the rooms to look at things wasn't either so basically a corridor to go up and down. The cost was more than SS Great Britain which we spent over 5 hours on, we left HMS Belfast after an hour and half and that was including having a drink. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend for wheelchair users or less mobile people
K. M.
This place is a throughly good day out for families with children, the staff are exceptionally friendly and chatty, they spoke and educated my DD about the ship and through our visit she was the captain of the HMS Belfast #brillantdayout reasonably priced to.
T. N.
Great experience! Recommended visiting, set aside about 2 hours for a visit! Well worth it
J. R.
Very interesting and well thought out. Great museum and brought back memories of going there with my father as a boy.
A. L.
A very interesting visit for all those nautical minded. The entire visit took 2h. Free audio books are available though I enjoyed the visit more reading the informative panels.
A. B. (.
Just wonderful. Walking around the old girl, seeing the captains quarters and the mess. Absolutely brilliant.
A. D. (.
Nice that they kept a ship from the royal navy. It's a light cruiser so not the biggest. The ship contains various rooms in their original places which demonstrate the workings. There was quite an interesting documentary on in the cafe on the ship which showed the involvement of the Belfast in WW2.
K. C.
Excellent place to see from the engine room to the prison cells to actually seeing how guns were fired and definitely how shells were stocked when the weapons were on standbyw during the war and how important this vessel was to other small ships. You will also hear about the actual incidents which took place on the ship.
M. R.
There is so much to see on the ship that it's easy to miss things out. Give yourself a good 2 or 3 hours and make sure you see it all. Brilliant!!
y. k.
I would recommand the H. M. S Belfast visit to anyone.
Great ship, great introduction to a warship.
F. S.
Great place for a day out with the kids, lots to see and learn about warships
D. M.
Such a cool warship! Worth a visit. The museum is informative and makes for a great outing. The history of the vessel is quite interesting. Built in Belfast in the 30s and rescued from scrapping in the late 60s - it's witnessed a heck of a lot of action in its service. A national treasure.
N. W.
A great day out, very informative but as you would expect being it is a ship it can be very claustrophobic at times with very narrow corridors and a lot of very narrow very steep stairs to go up and down.
A. E.
Great open museum.. If you are intereated in the military history specially the WW2
N. G.
Such a great boat/museum. Wonderful place to spend few hours
A. H.
For a ship who is 80 years old. HMS Belfast is in remarkable condition. She is the last of her kind and the last big gun warship to be preserved for the nation.
I. P.
Don't miss the opportunity to visit this ship-museum. The majority of the ship is accessible to the visitors. The history is very well explained.
G. S.
It's great that visitors and Londoners alike can get a slice of nautical history along The Thames. It would be great if we have a museum of The Thames itself at some point, but for the minute, a visit to HMS Belfast is a great trip into life aboard a ship.
What comes over through the experience and narrative is the feel, consistently of what life is like on a ship, with the prospect of battle, in close quarters.
If at all possible, do this jaunt, and The Sark in the same day, taking a river bus to get from one to the other. That way, an entire day is spent appreciating life on water....
A. H.
Really enjoyed this, lots to see and a very interesting gent in the radio room who served aboard, to talk to. Spent over 2 hours onboard.
A. A.
Had a great time exploring loved all about it. Lots of steps up and down, not very suitable for very young children or elderly people that can't climb up small ladders.
M. B.
This is a fantastic floating museum highly recommended for adults and children alike. On board cafe and toilet facilities.
D. S.
Went on full behind the scenes tour. Fascinating to see how the lifting of the bridge works and the engineering behind it.
C. B.
Didn't know what to expect but what a great way to see what life onboard a warship was really like from Admiral to the lowest. Top to bottom of the ship access. Well worth time spent on board and the entrance cost.
J. C.
I am a Londoner and have visited the HMS Belfast many times when I was younger and now I take my kids there.
It is a great London monument and well with a visit to see the inside and works of such a historic ship and see the rolls she played in WW2.
It is much better organised now with a clearer route around the various levels and lots of information.
She also offers great view up and down the river, worth checking the timetable for the Tower Bridge as it is a good spot to see it when it is open!
There are a few low level obstacles on the open main deck which my son caught his foot on and hurt his foot so be cautious in this area and watch where you walk.
They are missing a bit of a trick when it comes to catering, there is a cafe on board but it isn’t very clearly identified and not particularly inviting. Considering the river views, they could make more of the open decks for this purpose I think?
Value is OK but don’t mind paying a higher price to keep her open. Worth noting though, it is cheaper to book in advance on the internet.
Overall, well worth visiting.
E. D.
Haven't been here since I was a child, didn't disappoint. Ideal for kids and adults. Great day out.
P. C. D.
A fascinating and very well thought-out exhibit, like all of the Imperial War Museum locations. The audio accompaniment was very well produced and added to our enjoyment and appreciation of the incredible spaces we were in. This exhibit was included for free with our London Pass and well worth the time.
S. H.
Worth the experience, reasonable cafe on, very interesting with lots of information.
S.
Having seen this ship for decades but never had the time to visit got my chance and it was well worth the wait. Staff attentive, polite and knowledgeable. Well done all involved.
M. K.
Great to see around a war ship, pretty much all of it you can view.
A. L. (. F.
Excellent history of one the Royal Navy's most important ships of the 20th Century.
A. T.
Great way to spend a couple of hours in London. Possibly a little pricey, but I felt it was worth the money. If you have any interest in history, technology, or both, then you will love this. Mind your head when going up the stairs though or you'll have a big bump on your head like I currently do!
E. A.
This is a great overlooked attraction in London. Most of the ships' rooms can be visited and mannequins are used to show living conditions. There are also exhibitions on marine warfare. And it's right in the centre of London!
p. s.
Can't fault this place. One of the best places to visit in London. The staff are brilliant, friendly and informative. Amenities are good and for London well priced. For a day out would recommend this to anyone. Please go and keep this lady floating and educating people for years to come.
N. P.
Just an amazing, must see museum on the water. Fabulous
C. L.
The only battleship that you can visit in the heart of London. Definitely a family experience
S. L.
Unfortunately, we'd didn't have time during our city tour to explore HMS Belfast, but we enjoyed seeing the ship from the outside. It costs over £40 for a family ticket, so we wouldn't have added it to the agenda as there's a lot of other things we wanted to see instead.
To be honest, we didn't really know that the ship existed, so seeing it was a pleasant surprise.
R. C.
Amazing experience on the living conditions and overall structure aboard a World War 2 era warship. Almost the entire ship is accessible, from the complex engine rooms and boilers, to the kitchens, infirmary and living quarters.
Seems very well preserved, and even the original broadcast system is functional.
R. B.
If you like your Navy you are love visiting this museum and even if you don't it might just stuck a interest
E. M. G.
As part of the London Pass, we went to go see the HMS Belfast. Great monument. If you take your time its about an hour long.
D. A.
I bought tickets as a birthday suprise for my partner. Fabulous ship
T. R.
Absolutely phenomenal experience. Staff and guides are all exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic.
A museum experience that's second to none.
P. G.
Fantastic views, amazing to be able to walk the ship and learn about how it operated!
M. W.
Incredible experience, just trying to fathom the intricacies of the mechanical engineering blew my mind. Only downside was there wasn't really any information boards/explanations of what each thing was which took a little of the magic away.
B. M.
I've spent half a day in this ship. It's a masterpiece and you must visit this. You'll see how crew lived, see some guns and convince yourself why you pay taxes and how freedom and democracy actually looks like from inside.
C. B.
Absolutely brilliant place to visit
Z. W.
Interesting. We spent quite a lot of time there. Didn’t feel too crowded and was well organized.
k. m.
Nice place to visit. It's not exactly cheap, plus there are lots of amazing places you can visit in London for free.
D. R.
A fantastic place. Unsurprisingly, not very accessible, although there is a lift for people to visit the main decks. Access to the boiler room and flag deck are all by ladders though (after all, it is a warship!). The tour locations are well explained in non jargon, and some of the rooms even have mannequins set up to give an impression of what life would have been like onboard at sea.
P. S.
A great museum in fabulous condition throughout. definitely worth a visit.
R. 1.
Absolutely stunning, brilliant views off the ship, and is the only British WW2 cruiser left in the world, if you want a truly historic experience, go here! 5/5
J. B.
I had a great time here, polite and helpful staff, well kept ship with good onboard facilities (cafe, toilets), also really good immersion with sound and interactive displays.
M. S.
Really great few hours spent here, definitely excellent value for money!
S. D.
Been many times over the years and it never disappoints. Always something new to see and great educational fun! Really good for kids too.
H. L.
A great place to visit and amble around the ship at your own pace with an automated tour guide. Very steep steps though this is mentioned on the web site.
S. W.
Fantastic for adults and kids, our 9 year old was absolutely enthralled, the 5 year old lasted 2 hours before getting bored which Is a lifetime for them. Well worth a visit and amazing staff on site
S. K. A.
One of the oldest warships of Britain which has defeated the German fleet. Explore the various decks in the ship to experience how the crew lived.
E. V. (. E.
Amazing experience , to understand how this ship was working and to have a bit of imagination how difficult it is...
D. S.
grade 10
Besides the site to be more beautiful
and very beautiful for several photos.
It's worth going there.
L. B.
So much to see you need a full day to do it justice. Good for kids. Friendly guides. Shame on board cafe not open.
L. C.
As a former RAN rating and power station operator it brought back great memories and it was great to see the UK preserving its Naval history
O. J.
Cool, but the tour was a bot confusing as the numbers for the audioguides didn't really fit for the foreign guides.
O. V.
Great ship to visit with kids, you can touch a lot of things so kids will like it !
P. S.
Well worth a visit. Quite a bit of climbing to do, but really good visit. Read the guide/map. I didn't, and went around in circles a few times.
A. B.
Fantastic place went with grandson he loved it to well worth the money
L. A. D.
Fantastic day out, highly recommend it but not for very young children, lots of ladders to climb up and down.
A. B.
Fascinating history behind this battle ship, a must see if your in London.
D. W.
Great views of Thames and surrounding areas. Very interesting history
I. F. (.
Nice, but was better to have some guide (not just audio guide) and more interactive activities.
R. S.
Very interesting displays inside. We will definitely be going back as we didn't have time to check everything out.
T. F.
Looking for something to do in London, as weather was looking bad. This kept 5 of us engaged. So interesting
M. H.
Excellent visit to HMS Belfast. Very interesting and well worth a look.
A. C.
Brilliant day out with my 6 & 8 year old. The kids audio tour was funny and engaging. The girls loved clambering around the boat, up and down ladders through the innards of the ship. L
A.
Did the escape room. Unfortunately the last task was not working properly. Otherwise the children had a great time working out the puzzles and clues. The ship was fascinating. Cant believe the size of the rum ration. Not very good for the physically challenged as a lot of ladders to climb.
S.
The HMS Belfast was a great experience, amazing if you want to know more about how everything works. Would recommend if you are around the area of it.
O. C.
I went to visit the HMS Belfast with my son aged 15. The tour was great as we learnt a lot of things related to the sailors' life onboard during WW2 and immediately after. Their quarters are recreated and some sound ambiance add to the realism. It was very interesting to visit the motors' room, the turrets, the captain's and the admiral's cabins. This ship contained every thing that was needed for a long campaign at see: a small city.
F. K.
Great place to visit with family (or even without), lots to see. Be prepared for climbing short ladders between decks (there is a lift). Lots of history, make sure you collect the free audio guide. Cafe on board with coffee and cakes and toilets. There is a good view of Tower Bridge; if you are lucky you might see an opening of the bridge. If you think you will visit more than once or might visit Duxford or the Churchhill war rooms go for a membership package which allows multiple visits to all IWM sites for a year.
D. S.
As one of the few WWII cruisers preserved as a museum ship, and an absolute legend of the Royal Navy, it is a must-visit in London. Almost the whole ship is explorable, and you can learn a lot about the life of the mariners on board, and the stunning feats that made this ship one of the most recognisable cruisers of all time, such as the sinking of the Scharnhorst and her role in the Normandy campaign. There are also some interactive activities which allow for even greater engagement with the public. A visit of London is not complete without being on board of HMS Belfast.
B. M.
I love anything military you can feel and interact with. One of IWM best exhibits.
K. L.
Amazing experience with the guided audio tour. Staff couldn’t be more friendly and accommodating. They really made it very exciting for my 2 boys! brought the ship to life 👍🏻
A. d. B.
Great experience, no line ups on a Monday afternoon in July. Fascinating to see a ship that served on D-Day
P. A.
Amazing tour, very interesting insight into technology and life on board warship. Even my spouse who is not into ships like I do enjoyed the visit.
k. w.
Really wonderful visit so much to see great history.
P. P.
Really interesting place to visit. There are 9 decks to see with alot of ladder type stairs and tight spaces to negotiate, but I found that added to the experience.

I have visited the ship about 6 times over the past 30 years and each time another layer of information and stories has been added. If you a war buff then a must see.
C. H.
Still an interesting warship even if she is starting to rust. Crew helps you navigate through labyrinths of stairs and corridors.

Initially we didn't plan to visit here despite of has been seeing it from far. We truly be thankful we visited here on last day while wandering around for time we had to fly back home.
It's educative, even to my mom (elderly) and my little daughter. It gave us the right feel of being in war ship.
We went down (climbed up & down) even to the engine room until the level where we were informed under the water.
Staffs are friendly.

Great fun. You have access to pretty well the whole boat. So interesting how it all ran and how everyone lived and worked together.

So much history. They've done an amazing job of bringing this old ship to life with narrative from her crew, interactive exhibits, and an amazingly dedicated staff.

The history of the ship is amazing, well worth a visit the things we learnt just left us gobsmacked

Brilliant. Could easily spend half a day exploring. 3 kids, different ages and interests all enjoyed it.

What a lovely masterpiece of British history! It is not overcrowded at all and Thames views are magnificent.

Absolutely great! It was fascinating to wander through this historical ship. The installation of puppets and sound effects brings it to life again.
J. H.
I loved this tour. The stories this ship has to tell is worth your time to listen.

Seems a wee bit daft to keep a big boat like this in London, but people seem to like it, so let's not make a fuss.

Loved it. Worth visiting. Great place.

A WWII boat named after the Irish town. Really cool for history buffs but a bit on the expensive side. But its right next to tower hill, tower bridge and a few other tourist attractions. If your in the area you should check it out!
B. H.
Really interesting visit around most parts of the ship. Automatically charged the optional charity payment on entry. Cafe on ship closed in the week except school holidays.

Amazing tour of an old warship. They've preserved most of it in good form and the amazing wax figures are so realistic that they make you think they're actual sailors. The ship has many decks (floors) and each gives you a good idea of how the ships used to operate back in those days.

Utterly fabulous, even if your leg is in plaster!
Good and authentic, asbeston is a bit worrying though

Lot of information, a lot to see. Interactive exhibits, video and written. Very interesting.

What a fantastic experience, to walk these historic decks. Imagine the North Sea convoys. To be on the ship that started D-Day. It is very moving...

Nice place to visit.

If your paying for day tickets you may as well do the IWM memberships and visit the war rooms and Duckfordwhich you can visit again and again all year and can pay monthly

Great couple hours out. Not a lot of interactive stuff or many staff about to fIll you in on all the facts, but you can take a machine around with you that talks about each area. Good for the Kids, enjoyed it. Be prepared to walk up and down plenty of stairs in some narrow spaces at times too, a privileged experience and a must visit. HINT: they accept tesco vouchers but allow time for postage before you travel to London.

Amazing peace of history. One of the last existing Royal navy battleships from WW2.HMS Belfast is very accessible to the public.
P. A.
Amazing experience!!! Walking through a quarter century old warship and seeing torpedos and all the armaments and radars!!! Best was the small game on Morse code where the ship's crew will determine one's name using Morse code!!!!
C. D.
A great day out for the kids and adults alike. This is not badly priced for a london attraction (£22.50 for father and son) a lot to see and do, we spent 4 hours exploring! Beware there are lots of tight twisty corridors and steep ladders to climb! Staff are great and knowledgeable and the volunteer in the communications room was lovely and great with the kids. Might not be as good in bad weather as there are some deck walks, but it does provide the best view of tower bridge on the Thames.

I never thought that this attraction could be one of our highlights. As an active soldier it was fantastic to see the last british battleship from the 2nd WW.
You can visit everthing at this ship and it's worth the entrance fee.
The entry was included in the London Pass.
Visit this ship when you're in London!!!
See the dentist, the crew, the onboard store, the weapons and a lot more.
5 of 5 stars.

Historic warship, exceptionally helpful staff and crew, fantastic day out - what's not to like?!
C. S.
Really enjoyed our visit. Lots of ladders to climb.

Excellent, so interesting and easy to understand who things must have been for those serving on this ship. Very good for all ages.

Gorgeous museum, really good preserved and full of interesting info and activities. Be sure to see it all
C. K.
Absolutely fascinating and we loved that you could explore (and get lost) all over the ship.

Amazing place for visit . You should go inside it and explore it. It's so big and beautiful.
K. C.
Great venue, fantastic staff, thoroughly enjoyed the visit!

It's part of the Thames scenery, I can't imagine walking across London bridge and not seeing this icon. I went on it as a child and remember being amazed up until I tripped over in a doorway. Watch out for the raised bit between floors if you're there with kids...
D.
Due to the pandemic, we couldn’t board her but she looks very impressive docked in the Thames
S. S.
An interesting and above all interactive look at a piece of history.. Not often you get to climb and explore one.. Excellent..

10/10 breaking through my expectations, u have to come, it's awesome, everyone loved it
G. Y.
Very cool and interesting. Cramped inside so hard to take a bag. Should schedule at least an hour to go through it all and they begin closing down parts about 30 min to close.
K. S.
Very interesting glimpse into the past with realistic rooms and detailed experiences of the crew if the Belfast. I'm not a ship person and I loved it!
S. S.
Great day out, Belfast has lots of history with plenty to see and read cafe is quirky but nice.
T. L.
Amazing place to learn this great ship and her history.
P. d. M.
Amazing experience. Really well conserved ship. Lots explanation everywhere. Impressive engine room.
R. J.
Very good with 2 for 1 deal, making it £9 each for two of us. Steep steps up and down each level.
B. G.
Lovely historic ship, tours are good but its pricey
