Reviews of Jack The Ripper Museum
S. B.
Fabulous.....I loved it. Good insight into dreadful living conditions and general squalor of the late 1800's London in the East End....and no doubt elsewhere throughout London.
Pat who was on the desk was very pleasant and welcomed her visitors to the museum enthusiastically. I heard other visitors thank her for telephone directions etc.
Thank you Pat. I'll be back next year for another visit. I recommend a visit to the Museum.

Not a large place but very informative.
We spent 45 minutes here which was with us reading everything on the walls but everything was themed excellently and the morgue was creapy!!!
Really nice lady at the desk was there to great us.
All in all. Short! But still worth the trip.
5 stars.

For anyone interested in the history of Jack the Ripper, this is an excellent little place to visit. Very well presented.
I knew absolutely nothing much other than the notorious name and visited as my wife loves mysteries, crime books / documentaries. So as a complete novice I did come away with a much greater awareness of not only what happened, but what life was like for Londoners at the time. The museum is over 5 floors, each floor an exhibit that gives you an insight into a different part of the story. There's loads of details and some genuine JTR artefacts as well as cuttings, pictures all relating to the time.
I also like the way the museum acts in some way as a memoriam to the women killed. Reading their stories made the events ever the more so tragic and sad.
We spent a fair bit of time reading the different things on show and therefore spent a good 40 mins in the museum. So it's not huge but if you are interested in your history / crime mysteries etc, it's worth the visit.
Book online for a better price than on the day. Tickets are non-time specific which is really helpful.
It's also only a short walk from the Tower of London, so we visited the Tower in the morning, had lunch and then walked the 10-15mins to the museum from there.
L. M.
Great place definitely worth a visit, each floor laid out with a specific theme. Well thought out, especially thr "mortuary" and worth every penny 👍 we're off to do the walk as well👍I've included a few pics, but hopefully haven't spolit anything 🤞🤞

I've always wanted to visit since it was opened in 2015 and seeing the place is to be sold, it was now or never, not knowing the museums fate.
We only went for the visit and not the walking tour due to having other things planned for the day out.
The museum is on the smaller side, but they do try to fill the rooms with as much information as they could without it being overcrowded.
We found it quite interesting with the information provided and the props they had on show, we all seemed to enjoy the hour or so here.
The service provided was good, nothing bad to say and the items on sale at the gift shop was good.
Getting here, Tower Gateway/Shadwell (Docklands Light Railway), Shadwell (Overground), Tower Hill (Circle/District line) would be your best choice and walking it here but you could also take the bus, a number of stops dotted around.
Recommended.

This place is awesome and I loved my visit here. It’s a great place to come for anyone who’s into Jack the Ripper like myself. It was where one of the victims was staying as well as having a morgue here that one was brought after being found murdered by Jack. I’d like to go again for sure.
C. O.
Brilliant little museum, incredibly friendly staff member who is clearly passionate about Jack the Ripper and didn't mind me chatting away about my theories. Insightful and great to see so much original items. There are wax figures and recordings in case anyone is wary of them. It was very quiet when I went which made it creepier but the atmosphere was fantastic. Worth the money and the little shop is great as well. Just waiting for that William Henry Bury section.
M. J.
A must visit, lots of information and great stuff to see.
C. H.
Nice little museum, very warm welcome as soon as we walked in. It's an interesting place, take time to read all the information in each room otherwise your visit will be pretty short. It's a small place and you can do it comfortably in 30 minutes, so you could say it is overpriced for what it is. We went as a family of 4 and spent 45 mins in there.
S. C.
I thought it was pretty good. There are essentially 5 rooms to go into and covers the lives and times of the victims. There are some original items belonging to one of the police. It is quite limited though and might be a squeeze if there was a crowd in. The shop is really well stocked and the support staff was great to talk to.
J. J.
Visiting from Dallas, TX and it was on our to do. Small museum for floor nice info and displays. We are so glad we went.
D. C.
£12 for an adult ticket. Gives you access to four floors which walk you through the mystery of Jack the Ripper, and the lives of his victims.
Relatively well put together, but quite small for the cost of a ticket. Standard branded merch on the way out.
Nothing particularly special, wouldn't visit again. It was alright.
N. M.
It is fairly small however it has four floors of interesting facts and ideas about who Jack the Ripper was and what happened to the women.
Takes roughly an hour to go round the whole building.
Price is slightly on the expensive side. We had two adults and two children and the total cost was £38.
V. K.
The museum itself is small but the whole atmosphere was amazing. The noises the way it looked the amount of light it was amazing I felt like I was in the nineteenth century. The basement was breathtaking. I’ve never seen that before.
M. E.
Great little museum that tells lots of information about Jack the Ripper and his victims. It also has a small gift shop selling books and souvenirs.
P. W.
Had a great experience at this museum. The gentleman running the museum had a broad knowledge on the subject and was extremely friendly, helpful and was willing to chat openly about everything to do with anything regarding the museum and the subject matter.Would highly recommend
K. E.
I was a little disappointed with this place. I think it would have been better had there been a tour guide taking you around the rooms explaining what was in the rooms and the back story. There was a lot of stuff to read and it just felt a bit to much. It's over 4 floors and I can imagine if it was really busy there wouldn't be much room to move.
E. D. G.
A great experience, a well done atmosphere and does a brilliant job as a museum with all the information about the Jack the ripper case. if you can, go
B. W.
Went for a visit today. Well laid out over a few floors. Good descriptions and very clean and lots of old artifacts. The basement schibit is for 16s and over. You soon get a good feel for crammed living in Victorian times.
C. F.
A fantastic experience, great atmosphere. It's a small building about 6 floors, each floor had a different story. It is well worth visiting. I also chose the tour as well, again, thoroughly enjoyed and learned a lot. This was old victorian London.
K. L. o. S.
This museum is so worth visiting!!
As a horror fan Jack the ripper didn't interest me much. After a small research, I decided to give it a shot, and I sooo glad I did.the museum has 5 floors, each describes part from Jack's the ripper life.it shows the supposedly room Jack kept all his medical murder tools and his books.the other room describes the poor Jack's victims.but the scariest room was the underground room, the mortuary.it shows the post mortem photos of Jack's victims...
It did a spine chill even to me...
I. N.
I love it!! The lovely woman who was there was very nice , we talk for a while about jack and others serial killers, the museum is totally incredible a little piece of the old London. The price is not expensive at all if you want to see, as I said , a piece of the old London, and you want to know about Jack the ripper
D. C.
A wonderful place. A real must see if you are in Whitechapel! Staff is extremely kind and is a real pleasure to chat with them. Super!
D. K.
Nice little museum about Jack the ripper, situated near to where the murders took place. Just a short walk from Tower Hill underground station, for anyone arriving from other areas of London.
Was expecting it to be bigger, but the rooms were set out well and the second floor has things out you can pick up & look at.
There is a basement level that replicates a 19th century morgue, so this part is probably not best for younger kids or more squeamish people.
E. “. T. W.
A little gem in whitechapel. The lovely & welcoming Patricia was very understanding when i explained on the telephone i had accidently booked the 26th December instead of today the 19th. She said it was no problem at all. On arrival Patricia greeted us warmly, explaining what exhibits were on all the floors of the house. There were little notices everywhere inside including the stairwell. There is lift access available for wheelchairs & people with mobility troubles. Bought a jack the ripper teddy bear, reasonably priced. Toilet facilities available. Great litlle place.
R. I.
Smaller than I thought, but packed with information. Really interesting place if you like history or horror, it's worth a visit! Staff on the reception were lovely too!
K. D.
Quite a small museum but still some interesting snippets to find if you look at everything and read the walls too. Nothing groundbreaking but mentions of up to 9 murders rather than just the canonical 5 was quite good, although I didn't see further explanation of this. It was just presented as fact.
C. T.
Absolutely amazing!
5 floors of history, probably the most thorough and in depth single subject museum I've ever visited, with hundreds of pieces, interactive dioramas and recreations, original documents and objects from the time.
M. A.
Short but sweet visit to the museum, you can get round it all fairly quickly. I found it very interesting. The lady behind the till was a darling too, such a nice person
L. M.
A lot of care has been put into this museum and that is noticeable, but it is not worth £10 even at student prices. It is very small and the whole experience was finished in 30mins roughly. I would not return
C. B.
A great look back into history , the museum was very informative with all the aspects of Jack the ripper.....
L. V. P.
The Jack the Ripper Museum is a museum and tourist attraction that opened in August 2015 in Cable Street in Aldgate in London. It purports to recreate the east London setting in which the unsolved Jack the Ripper murders took place in 1888.
Six incredible floors recreate scenes from the time. The murder scene in Mitre Square, a gentleman's sitting room (would Jacks' have looked like this), the Whitechapel police station, Mary Jane Kelly's bedroom, the mortuary and much, much more.
Opens at 9:30 a.m. and closes at 6:30 p.m.

Just finished their Virtual Tour in the safety of my own home. Really enjoyed looking around all the floors and finding out about different objects in probably a bit more depth than I would have if i'd walked around it. It looks wonderfully designed - very atmospheric, and some rightfully grim, so I look forward to returning, in real life, to see the artefacts for myself.
K. S.
I love true crime and this was a good place to visit .I then went on the tour after that was pretty good too . The only thing is if you are fetching kids it's a fast paced walk around inner London and kids mat not appreciate it
J. M.
There was a lot of information about Jack the Ripper. It was good, educational. Well worth the price. It's the red door. Like the TARDIS, it is a little bigger inside. Few floors below, and above. I was there July 2018
J. M.
The tour was good and was made more interesting by our tour guide Sam, thanks again Sam and happy birthday 🎂 😁 The little museum after the tour was an added bonus.
R. C.
The museum is small but in my opinion it is adequated to the experience. The ambience is heavy, creepy and made me feel uncomfortable- what is great due the theme. Everything is thought in details: the police room, possible Jack room got a lot of details making you getting in the atmosphere. I don't recommend it to people that are easily disturbed -specially the last floor and the morgue. Music is also the biggest detail that makes you sad, almost earing whispers.
Everyone that like criminal cases, ripperology and that stuff must visit this museum.
R. m.
Not worth the £12 admission fee imho. But if you're a Ripper fan, into the gory history of it all then it may float your boat.
G. D.
Nice museum, the lady at the entrance is absolutely lovely and the house is really nice. Will tell my friends about it. I wish it could last a bit longer!
E. V.
A tiny bit expensive for the experience, but the student discount is £10 and you can have a good time to spend for about an hour
C. M.
Learned more about the women than ever before. Plus the rooms are neat especially the morgue on the lower level.
J. H.
Very interesting with some goid exhibits. Recommend you do the walking tour too. Staff friendly and knowledgeable.
D. S.
Not busy and very interesting
J. B.
Amazing museum... Really well put together... Detailed and great atmosphere, well worth a visit
N. C.
Really worth the visit. Lady on front desk was very helpful and cheerful 😊
N. C.
Not my cup of tea at all!! But the lady at reception was very nice.
J. B.
Great exhibit of The Jack the Ripper events and the all the saved paraphernalia from that time period
S. T.
Very good , lots of history well presented
R. P.
Rather gruesome as you would expect. There has been much written about this individual.
I found the museum very interesting and the way it is laid out is very good.
I would recommend when you take a London bus tour hop off and take a look.
I'd allow yourself around an hour. Staff very friendly.
C. M. P. (.
Unique place, take some courage to go but worth it!
S. U.
Me and my partner visited the Jack the Ripper museum, the entry fee was 12 pounds and the staff member at the reception was very friendly and helpful, informative too and mentioned about what each floor has; my favourite floor was the second floor which was Jack the Ripper sitting room and how he might have lived which I think was a good idea and a brilliant feature and really did give an insight to how Jack the Ripper lived.
The basement was the morgue which also gave an eerie feeling and has photos of the victims bodies so not for the faint heartened.
Going up the stairs to the other floors were spooky and definitely gave the eerie feeling too. The little gift shop on the ground floor had plenty of choice.
We both enjoyed our visit to the museum and definitely recommend to others and will be going again.
m.
Really lovely receptionist and that's it!Just kidding. It's quiet nice to see how would have Jack the Ripper lived if he had been alive...12 pounds? It's kind of waste of money unless they drop it to at least 6.Unless you are a huge fan of Jack. That would be curious.
N. B.
The museum isn't huge but really captures the poverty and deprivation of the era.
M. R.
Was okish small house so not much they can do.Saff were friendly.
A. U.
Nice place dedicated to Victorian London and apparently haunted .
I. B.
A good way to pass an hour or so. We'll laid out. Friendly service
B. R.
Interesting building, obviously not much original stuff is available but there are some, worth a visit if interested in unsolved Victorian Crime!
J. T.
It was brilliant really interesting
b.
The walk was a little creepy to get to the museum, through some off-the-beaten path part of East London, but for the small entrance fee, definitely an experience for a first-timer touring London.
The woman at the entrance was very helpful and very explanatory about the museum and what it would be. Very helpful, and not disappointed with the insides at all. Really conveyed a unique feel to a very horrific part of history. As much as one can, we enjoyed our visit.
C. F.
Very interesting and nicely done. The lady who worked there was so welcoming and friendly. It was nice to see each floor as a different type of room related to the time and events and the stories behind the victims. An extra plus for me was my great grandfather lived (and died) in this building!
M. T.
Was an awesome experience. Was able to see first hand things that happened during the Back The Ripper investigation. Plus got a chance to dress up as Jack The Ripper
R.
Very interesting museum and great walking tour. Sam was an excellent guide and was very passionate about the subject. He gave us the facts and also presented alternative theories, so that we could make up our own minds about what happened. Would definitely recommend both the museum and the tour.
W.
This place was unique . My wife liked the atmosphere created. Costumes were available to use. I was told that the morgue had a funny smell, I suppose that's how they are supposed to be. My daughter and I found it a bit creepy but enjoyed talking to the museum caretaker while my son and wife explored at their leisure.
J. C.
The museum was interesting and informative. It gave you more of an insight into the crimes than just looking on the internet. We booked the museum and the walking tour which, combined was good value. The tour, given by Magda, was excellent. She was very knowledgeable, not only about the suspects and victims but also Victorian England
A. S.
Was welcomed, had a lovely lady staff.
Museum over 5 floors. Has a lift for wheelchair users, happy I could join in with family as I'm disabled.
carers get in for free.
We enjoyed the experience.
G. C.
First of all, don't follow Google maps!
This museum was a great find. A lovely lady at the front desk explained the best way to see the museum and you took yourself through the 5 floors of different rooms each set up as if your were there in the 1880s. So much information read and see. It will leave you itching to research it more.

Ghost hunt at the Jack the Ripper museum....great fun
Bumps burning smells and lights flushing
A. G.
It's a small museum but each room is jam packed with information and there are artifacts from the crime spree you can't see anywhere else. Lots of time and effort was put into setting up the exhibits, and the manager was very friendly and knowledgeable! Well definitely come back to show friends on my next visit here.
D.
We visited late evening so we were the only guests there. There are 6 rooms, a couple are rather empty and lacklustre so leave a lot to the imagination. For £9 each entry fee it's what you'd expect, nothing amazing but I guess worth a quick visit if you're interested in the ripper history. Expected a bit more but can't really complain for the price. The lady (maybe the owner?) Who served us and explained the self guided but easy tour was very friendly and polite. Again, worth a visit but nothing to write home about.
M. S.
This is a very good little museum, and the thing I liked most is that it does a very good job of showing a glimpse of the world the victims lived in. The woman at the reception desk was very helpful and friendly. Worth a visit if you're willing to brave the crowds around Tower Bidge and the Tower of London.
S. B.
Nice place but almost had a heart attack with the sounds
香.
The ticket price is 12£ so I decided not to entry and feel scary when I entry the museum.
Д. Н.
Museum about Jack the Ripper story with thematic rooms, things, photos, maps etc. Not for child.
G. H.
We paid ×2 £12 and a child of 9y old was £8. It was free for the 7y old.
Online would have been £10 for adults and same £8 for kids.
There isn't much to see there and we found the £32 price far too much for it.
Kids should be free as there is nothing for them to see/learn.
Few rooms with few display.
It was OK for a one off but they should not ask for more than £6 per adults or owner should invest into make it more interesting.
F. W.
This place is awesome. Besides getting to know a lot of the facts and theories about the Jack the ripper murder cases, you can really tell, that there's a lot of love for detail. The staff is also very friendly and the vicotrian house really emphasises the atmosphere. We really enjoyed our visit there!
K. D.
The museum itself was very well put together and definitely a must see before the walking tour. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and learned not only about Jack the Ripper but Victorian London as well! Definitely worth the £16!
J.
It's a little silly and there's not a lot for the price, but I really enjoyed it. It's a great layout and very atmospheric, really putting you in late 19th century Whitechapel. The staff were lovely as well! Really helpful and friendly. Great gift shop.
What stood out the most though is the focus on the victims, reminding us that these were real women who suffered hard lives that were ended so horrifically. It's them who should be remembered- not the killer.
J. D.
Small museum set inside a typical 4 storey town house. Self guided tour over the 4 floors and basement. Worth the £12 (took 1hr approx) very warm welcome on arrival and overall "sets the scene" well.
S. F.
Small museum . But you get to know how vicious Jack The Ripper was.
T. N.
Not a bad little place, worth a visit if you've done all the "obvious" London stuff...
R. A.
My family thoroughly enjoyed visiting your museum of 'historical artefacts and information' regarding Jack the Ripper and related material. This was followed by a very interesting guided walk around the Whitechapel area with your guide 'Sam'. He was very helpful, informative and really brought the history of the events to life. We would definitely recommend your tour and museum. We felt the price of the tickets were very reasonable to include a 90 minute guided walk around the area and the museum contained a lot of interesting facts concerning Jack the Ripper. We visited the museum on 6th September 2019.
R. M.
I know nothing about Jack the ripper and the only thing I have read about Jack the ripper is a fictional novel called gaslight stalker so was very interested and impressed with the museum. Obviously it is a figure everyone has a different idea of who they could be and the museum does a good job of explaining how it might have been each particular person. The cellar section was very chilling. It was very intriguing though.
S. C.
The staff are AMAZING! the one lady working gave me the full low down on the museum before I went in. The rooms are all very interactive though very creepy. It was hard for me to go in to the top floor and the bottom floor, but the lady at the front desk was kind enough to escourt me into the basement and tell me a bit about it!
E. C.
Did really know what to expect but found the exhibition very eye opening and respectful to the female victims as well as to the women of London in the late 1800s. The lady working there was very friendly and good to talk to. She was interested in our experience of the exhibition and was very open and honest to talk to. It was a very moving experience and we were very thankful for such a different and human approach to retelling the infamous case of the ripper.
M. H.
It's alright but I didn't learn anything I didn't already know.
A. I. -. T.
Quite a walk to the nearest tube and if you're not familiar with buses it's better to find a tube station. A bit pricey for something that only lasted us 10 minutes. (£12 per person) Location in White Chapel is a bit scary. You don't want to be caught there at night. Not to informative really. More of a space for items that may have been. Would've been worth it with a guide.
A. G.
First of all, this museum is very out of the way and not nearby to many restaurants or other attractions. The lady who works the desk was very nice, but the museum itself is overpriced and underwhelming. It was hard to try and sort out how the museum was laid out and it was confusing trying to get through the “exhibits”. The mortuary isn’t scary or anything either. I got more creeped out by the sign and the fact that it might’ve at one point been a real mortuary than the autopsy photos. They were tiny and hard to make out. I’d just save my money and do the Jack the Ripper tour or something.
B. B.
It's a great little museum. I say little, it's on five levels. There's also a lift. I liked the atmosphere and the eerie feeling. The staff were very welcoming and good prices at the gift shop.
F. C.
The place is kinda small but it has Jack The Ripper's murders in rooms. It was very interesting, and in the basement they have actual photos of the dead bodies, only for strong stomach though.
S. C.
A little disappointed because I was expecting it to be a lot bigger, but what was there was worth knowing.
J. D.
Best museum in London!
I visited this museum and was blown away - it is totally awesome. You walk through the door and step back in time. It was so scary! Totally amazing to see the murder scenes, visit Jack the Ripper's sitting room and see where he planned the murders - really creepy!!! Then the police stating was great, here you can really try and solve the crimes. The best bit for me was Mary Kelly's bedroom...so spooky and sad to see how the women lived. I also loved the morgue!! If you are in East London don't miss it.
m. b.
Not a bad little place to have a look round
A. P.
It's a nice place to immerse yourself in the ambiance of the Ripper's crime, but the museum is quite small and doesn't contain a lot of information. Still, if you pass by, it's worth taking a look.
J. C.
If you're a Ripper fan, it's cool to be in the scenes. If you are new to the story, you can definitely learn about the crime. But for what it is, its over priced. That said, I liked it, but I would only go there once.
C. L.
Ahhh, I felt a bit weird going here because of the grisly and sadistic history of this period. But my curiosity prevailed and I’m glad it did.
Admission is a wee bit steep but that’s London isn’t it...
The museum is in Whitechapel located in an unobtrusive building off the main roads. It’s very untouristy!
Many artefacts and newspaper reports from the era are on display and the 6 storied rooms are all period. Unexpectedly, the museum gave me an impression of the abject squalor and poverty the working class lived in during the Victorian era.
The mortuary on the bottom floor is the most gruesome part of the museum as actual autopsy images of the victims are on display. I was grateful though that it was presented in a respectful manner. Don’t be afraid to say a silent prayer for the victims. May God allow their tortured souls to Rest In Peace.
M. c.
Hi hello there; good afternoon, i went to the Jack the ripper museum last night, with twlight ghost nights, really enjoyed myself there, so much history on the Jack the ripper case, we did quite a few vigils, there as well; may have picked up on some of the spiritual, entities who Still may reside in that place, highly recommended,
Michael calf (Mike) kind regards.
B. R.
The one lady who was there was extremely kind and even though she had to explain that a thousand times before, she explained a little bit again giving me her full attention and seemed happy to help. It has five floors and a mortuary down stairs, which I recommend going after everything. It was creepy, educational and really made me feel bad for the ladies who lost their lives for such a horrible man. Only thing I didn't really like was the face they sold t-shirts and all sort of things with "jack the ripper" written on it. Like he's supposed to be worshipped. But the museum itself wasn't like that, so it was good. If you're into morbid stuff you should definitely visit.
A. L.
Very well presented and factfull, spent a good 1 1/2 hours on this visit split over 4 floors. Fully Accessible with a lift and with toilets in the basement. Found it very interesting that they don't try and tell you who Jack the ripper was (they never did) but give you the information to try make your own mind up. 2nd floor is a touch and try floor and gives you the chance to dress up as the detective. Not suitable for small children as it contains a number of the actual photos. There's no cafe but a small shop selling various JTR books. To get to the Museum was an easy 10 min walk from the Tower of London. Loved the Visit thus its 5 stars.
A. T.
Totally awesome museum. Felt like being in a Jack the Ripper movie, incredibly real experience - best I visited in London. If you are in London don't miss this amazing and really scary museum a few minutes walk from the Tower of London. Everyone should go!! 10/10
B. H.
Simply loved it. Very nice lady at the entry. Interesting exhibition. Would highly recommend it, if you want to see and experience a close view at the Ripper.
L. A.
Went on a Ripper Walk and was fascinated by the story so visited this museum. WOW - it is SO amazing!! Really feels like you are in the world of the Ripper. It's great as you can pick up and look at all the great stuff they have. My kids totally loved it, they were spooked out by it too!! Scary and amazing experience - much better than a ripper walk! 10/10.
V. C.
I enjoyed the walking tour more. I didn't learn anything new on Jack the Ripper but few interesting details on Victorian pubs in the Whitechapel area.
R. G.
On a recent trip to London went in to check this place out. Very informative about the time Jack the Ripper walked the streets of White Chapel. Patricia, the manager there was very knowledgeable and fun to talk to. If you're into such history, it's a must.

It really pulls you into the mystery and takes you back in time. Great insight into london's Victorian history... And it IS sympathetic to the women victims. Great day out. Very enjoyable and worth a visit if in London.
a. s.
Small but informative and well laid out staff have a genuine interest in the subject matter more designed for people who already know about the ripper story but also tries to highlight the background social problems affecting Londons east end poorer classes overall an enjoyable museum to visit
Z. M.
A great time. Very well done, but a guided tour of the museum would be lovely. I wanted to ask so many questions along the way.
D. S.
Very interesting place to visit. A must for anyone interested in the Whitechapel murders. It's great that you can handle some of the exhibits. The staff are friendly and helpful. Not suitable for young children.
T. B.
Very good exhibition if Jack the ripper is your thing or you just like English history. The exhibition shows you the story through some of these women's eye and is tastefully done. I know when it first opened it caused much publicity but now it's so much better. Very informative. Our only criticism was the lack of signpostsleep to actually find it. We actually walked straight passed it
T. P.
I came here with a friend who was down the weekend after listening to the Jack the Ripper Episodes on Last Podcast on the Left. I fully reccommend this museum. It was informative. Mannequins usually risk naffness but these are well used. The lady at the front desk was very welcoming.
F. B.
I don't know what the people who gave low rates were expecting... It's a house on 4 floors and a basement. It tells you the story of the victims, it gives you an idea of how they lived, how the police office looked like, how Jack could have lived and how the crime scene would have looked like.
It tells you the story and shows you some artifacts, among which some letters. They cannot give you answers as Jack is still a mystery. It's creepy but well done.
Honestly what were you expecting? A renhancement of the scenes, corpses included?
M. G.
We enjoyed our experience and was very fascinating!!!
T. S.
It's an OK museum on the outskirts of Whitechapel and quite hard to find. It has some interesting items and looks at 8 killings not the normal 5 (or 6). You'll be done in an hour.
J. A.
I thought i knew everything about the ripper murders, but i was so wrong. I learned new leads and also into historical framework where this happened. It showed us how the misery had followed the unfortunate victims. I was impressed by the care the victims were shown, these were living human beings that didn’t deserve their dreadful existence or their fate. Highly recommended for all Jack the Ripper history buffs.
v. A.
I was so annoyed to find out that protestors accused this museum of glorifying violence against women. I can assure you it doesn't. In fact it's the complete opposite. The museum actually pays a massive tribute to the poor women who suffered at the hands of jack the ripper and of course the police who tried to reveal the identity of the murderer. Me and my daughter left there with more knowledge of these incredible women and their lives than of the killer himself. Although I felt over whelmed with sadness for the women I enjoyed walking through time in the beautiful building, learning about their daily lives and living conditions. Well done to the people who put this together and thank you to the man who works there who gave us a warm welcome and was more than willing to discuss our experience and share some other facts about these unfortunate events of the east end.
D. H. C.
Excellent museum about the Jack the Ripper killings as well as highlighting the dire life of the poor in Victorian London.
K. R.
Absolutely fab place, so interesting. My son is leaning about Jack the ripper in History as part of his GCSE , HE has learnt so much from attending this place. Although it was hard to find. But worth the visit.
S. A.
It's an interesting place, with the clues and information about Gentleman Jack and the murders he committed, as well as dioramas and exhibitions detailing each of the murders.
Not much -new- information on the murders or identity of Jack, but there hasn't been new information in years.
T. A.
OK the guide walking us around all the historical points was excellent really worth the money, he was really into and knew all dates and info off the top of his head, over and hour and a half of great info, there interactions all along the way and conversation about jack the ripper were great really made us think about all the evidence about the murders, the museum was good but I thought the guide walk was better easy to digest info and fun
E. B.
Small but interesting 2 hours covers the whole building. Shop has quite a choice considering it's size. Tours also advertised.
D. J. M.
Wasn't really expected this museum, i found the staff really generous and kindly, explained really detail of history of jack the reaper, although the museum quiet small, but inside its interesting, i would recommend this for those people who really wondering about this serial killer.
I. C.
This is worth the visit!
We are great fans of museums but this is something worth visiting everyone is dressed up and it’s as if you have taken a time capsule back in time.
Highly recommend
C. T.
Only one room per floor but some really interesting information
J. S.
Museum was fine but for 12 gbp there was not enough to it. Very superficial treatment of the murders. Better to do a walking tour.
L. C.
Interesting, but expensive for such a tiny museum
S. S.
The perfect place to learn the history and see the conditions that they lived in.
A. S.
Do go. If you feel that the protests against the museum were valid then I encourage a visit. The interpretation is low budget, but the story comes through loud and clear.
K. R.
I liked it! Nice, small and cozy, friendly staff. Should be a must for everyone who visits London
L. “. B. B. S.
A very accurate reconstruction of the times, objects and atmospheres of Jack the Ripper in a five-stories house. There's a supposed Jack the Ripper room with desk, cabinet and victorian furniture where you can wear his cloak and hat and take pictures of yourself clad as Jack. I had the chance to visit when a few people was around and took my tour playing Screaming Lord Sutch "Jack the Ripper" at full volume on YouTube, the perfect soundtrack! You can also take a guided tour on foot through jack's famous Murder sites, don't miss It, the guide it's fantastic he is a great Story teller and speaks like a shakespearian actor so It was perfectly clear and intriguing to our crew of Italians.
Highly reccomended for steampunks!
J. B.
Small museum, especially for the £12 price, but was quite interesting to explore and gave us an insight on who Jack the Ripper might have been.
K. S.
Interesting from my perspective as I already have knowledge on the subject. The idea is to take your time and try to read info in every room. One thing that spoiled it for me was they had a photo of 'Mary kelly' - no such photo exists. The photo they have labelled as Mary is in fact Lizzie Williams wife of Dr Williams who served the royal family. She was in fact a Lady! Not sure how this would go down with her family. Anyone interested in the story that connects Mary Kelly to the Williams family there is a book called the 5th victim that contains the picture correctly labelled as Lizzie Williams. I did contact the museum to tell them but received no reply! Ah well.
M. G.
A small but interesting museum. Try the clothes on in the old victorian living room to get true ambience feeling. The lower morgue room is spooky!
G. H.
Not only has cool exhibits about his room and the police station, but talks about the implications of society having few resources for women in poverty and with alcohol problems of the time!
f. 1.
Good little museum with lots of details. A great place to visit if you're doing jack for GCSE. They also do great tours.
L. A.
A little gem, great place with great exposition
L. “. S.

R. D.

C. B.
Museum not sure... tour was good!!
I. S.
It's a small, privately owned museum. You'd have to pay 10 pounds online and slightly more if you buy the tickets on the spot.
C. J.
Fantastic little museum - informative and well-structured given the space available. Lovely staff member was we extremely welcoming and knowledgeable.
A. T.
Bit smaller than i would have liked but otherwise very knowledgeable and i learned a few things

I much more enjoyed my guided Ripper tour a few nights before, I found the museum underwhelming and a bit pricy.
A. S.
The museum rooms are an atmospheric insight into the days of Jack. There are old items, newspapers, photos from that time.
F. A.
Its interesant be there but much to read...
S. S.
Small museum information on the wallpaper is good but nothing new or u unusual to say about Jack. Needs a different tack I think.
L. S.
Small but very high standard. Not for every one.
A.
Atmospheric building with lots of information about the case. A must for all Ripper enthusiasts.
A. H.
The museum was very interesting but it was sad to see and learn about the living conditions of that time. The staff and the shop were nice
G. T.
Small but very interesting place to visit, staff was lovely and shop had lots of interesting pieces to buy.
A. L. S.
We just went to Jack The Ripper Museum and just coming in a woman stand up and said that she was just expecting us, she gave us a very good explanation about what we will see in each of the floors and that we can take pictures and allowed us to put on the cap and hat, we enjoyed the visit and saw the bad conditions that many women lived in that time, they suffered a lot and they were helpless and when finishing the visit we can buy very nice souvenirs
D. E.
A very interesting Museum for those who are interested in all things connected to the ripper.
A little bit off the beaten track dow cable st. But worth a visit.
C. D.
Loved visiting here, very fascinating looking round, would recommend people have a look round. It's a shame it's tucked away and not in a more visible location but value for money.

S. H.
Managed to recreate the scenes and poverty of East London in Late 19th century very well. Interesting artifacts from that time are kept too.
A. L.
Worth a visit if you are interested in Jack the Ripper information and some historical background about the time period and difficult living conditions.
K. F.

Museum presents vintage objects and reproductions all referring to the infamous victorian era murders.
D. G.
The people working there were super nice and it's very educational! Would recommend to any person interested in true crime

Only 5 rooms to look at could do with a bit more content such as info about the possible suspects etc overpriced for what you get
