C. R.Very tranquil place. Just like a secret garden. I went in through a door in the wall, but public tours most probably enter via the main gateway. Our office across the road overlooks the Westminster Bridge end of the garden. The only thing we can really see is the new stark red brick library opened in 2020. Not included picture of that.

N. G.It’s like a little oasis in the heart of London. Yes, rich in history but also where several people live, an office, a chapel and event venue.
You enter through a small door in ancient gate house and then see the chapel in front of you. Inside it has stalls around 3 sides and a ceiling with surprisingly modern artwork.
Heading round to the right the main entrance is surrounded by a lot of space and small cute residences. Coming inside you head up stairs to the first floor.
There are numerous rooms with offices and then the state room (large but quite comfy living room), guard room (great for meetings with a lovely wooden ceiling) and other smaller rooms.
If you can, take a good look at the large and we’ll manicured gardens. You’ll be lucky to enter/tour them but enjoy the view while you can.
Btw note to the wise: the only available toilets are on the ground floor of the main entrance, there aren’t any on the first floor.
T. L.The gorgeous garden at Lambeth Palace is open from May until September on the first Friday of each month. Make sure you visit. It's like being behind the scenes at a secret location. If you are lucky the chapel and library might be open. It's such as pretty place to explore and a real pleasure. The Garden Museum is next door which has a very good restaurant.
n. s.A historic and unique building in heart of London. Located few miles away from the parliament and Westminster, Lambeth palace is a hidden treasure. The gardens are one of the most beautiful in London while the building itself has a great historic background, being the base of archbishop of Canterbury. The interior is like a time machine in the past, with an astonishing library and the portraits of all the archbishops. I definitely recommend that place, especially in the sunny days.

R. B. H.Lambeth Palace, formerly Lambeth House is the London residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury. Visitors can take a guided tour of the Crypt, Guard Room, Chapel and the Library. All tours must be booked in advance.
Lambeth Palace is one of the few medieval buildings left in London. The official London residence of the Anglican archbishop of Canterbury and until 1978 the site of the Lambeth Conference, an episcopal assembly that is called about once every 10 years (the conference now meets at Canterbury).
About 1200 the first sections of the palace were built. The Lollards’ Tower, a former water tower, dates to the 1430s, and the fine Tudor gatehouse was completed by the early 16th century. Many of the buildings, including the residence proper, the 14th-century Guard Room, and the church of St. Mary-at-Lambeth (now a garden museum), were built or restored in the 19th century.
T. F.Not usually open to the public but well worth a look when it is. It's surprisingly large. There are some interesting statues dotted around. The planting is quite plain but interesting in it's own way.

Access to palace somewhat limited (Great Hall, crypt and shop) although the gardens were, for the most part, open to the public. Careful, considerate planting is seeking at present to restore some of the historic characteristics of a well-appointed garden.

The basis of the Christian life is one of hospitality and some of the visitors might have appreciated being invited to stay for midday Eucharist rather than being simply tolerated until they had gone away.

Two mahoosive white fig trees that grow against the Palace were planted by Cardinal Pole during Queen Mary Tudor's reign.
Only opened to the public on certain days of the year. And well worth a visit. Suitable for all ages and abilities.

Next door to the Garden Museum and Archbishop's Park, The Old Paradise Gardens, and a short stroll away along the River Thames Albert Embankment footpath from all the attractions South Bank has to offer.

Don't get me wrong its a hell of a lot better than a council flat but when you compare it to the Vatican , well , the Archbishop must be a sick as a parrot .
B. T.Lambeth Palace Gardens are open on the first Friday of the month from April to September, admission is five pounds and goes to charity. The gardens are beautifully kept and a lovely place to have a cup of tea and a piece of cake.
J. B.AAA had a tour but only gardens.My grandfather was a Lambeth (6th century Bible).Episcopalians. How did the Catholics get it & what king is the UNKNOWN SOLDIER? Stole his/her ship too didn't they.You would think they would tour the library to show the priceless bible unless the king had it on him.
G. B.Went for a conference, whilst it was very atmospheric it was completely freezing and I ended up keeping my coat on all day. I didn't help that the staff kept leaving a door a jar. Only 2 loos for such a large is also slightly inconvenient - but they have clearly had to work with the space they have. It could be more clearly signposted that you are to knock and wait for someone to open the door at Morton tower. As it just looks closed.

R. B. -. E. k.Archbishop Justin Welby kindly opened Lambeth Palace Gardens to the public last year one day per month.
This year it will be open on the first Friday of each month from March until October from 12pm - 3pm and the admission will be £4. Please check this on the Lambeth Palace website.
I went last year and with some trepidation saw the queue was quite long and nearly gave up. Fortunately I persevered and what great value for £4!!
To see one of the oldest cultivated gardens in London from the 13th Century (I believe) was astonishing. The garden has gone through many changes and in recent times Beth Chatto re-designed the Rose terrace sometime around 1930 and various pieces of sculpture have been added. The kitchen garden is very interesting and in general the planting throughout the garden is well planned.
I really liked to see the bee hives down the bottom of the garden and the gardens are large, so if you see a long queue do not worry you will 'have your own space'
For any gardener Lambeth Palace Gardens is a 'must see' for 2016.

M. C.Lambeth Palace is the seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury, the head of the Anglican communion. I was invited to the Palace by Rt. Rev. Dr. Graham Kings, official Chaplain of the Archbishop of Canterbury. He was gracious enough to host me in his home and I slept in room where the statue of St. Thomas More was standing. Participated in the morning prayers and it was really moving. They prayed for Ecumenical Christian Centre, Bangalore where I am the Director. I am looking forward to have more communion with the Churches and could come together in many dimensions. May the Holy Spirit guide the leaders to come together and thus to serve God and humanity.
A. M.Archbishop of Canterbury home. Worth exploring. Of interest is the Lollard's Tower, the oldest remaining part of the palace, once used as a prison in the 17th century. This is listed as grade 1 for its architecture.

Очень красивое величественное историческое месте. Великолепный дворец. Видно, что необходима реставрация, но с другой стороны придант еще больше атмосферности.
Внутрь дворца соответственно не попасть, оно и понятно это все таки резиденция. Попасть можно в церковь, которая стоит у дворца.
Зато вокруг можно спокойно прогуляться и сделать прекрасные фото. Совсем нетуристическое место.
