Reviews of Mall Galleries
S. W.
An excellent exhibition of contemporary oil paintings many of which I would be very pleased to have hanging on my own walls. The paintings are for sale and I was told that there are new exhibits every few weeks. The cost of entry is £5 unless you join as a member. The staff are very friendly and welcoming .Also in this building is an exhibition of miniature paintings which are all of an extremely high standard.I would certainly recommend anyone who is interested in art which shows real artistic talent and ability to visit this gallery.
A. H.
Wonderful small gallery well worth a visit. You need to check on the exhibition showing as they change frequently. Went to the Pastel Society one this week can recommend it.
D. S.
Saw great exhibition (now finished). Good curating, lovely staff
Images are my two favourite pieces.
K. T.
My favourite Gallery in London, always a wonderful place to visit, even during these difficult times. We felt perfectly safe and socially distanced but were able to move around the gallery at our own pace and enjoy being back amongst beautiful art works. Felt very privileged to be a participating artist this year after so many times visiting as a spectator (and took a socially distance selfie too!)
L. M.
Warning: there is no café here so try not to be too early for an event!
Other than that it is a really lovely gallery with a good choice of products for sale as well as lots of beautiful paintings and sculptures, all for sale if you are feeling rich. They keep art materials for visitors to use as well.
A. D.
Perfect size gallery with the wonderful opportunity of talking directly with some of the exhibited artists! I had just seen the pastel exhibition and it was incredible the variety in art included in terms of style, technique and use of material! Such an incredible gallery providing great opportunities to young or seasoned artist
J. P.
Small gallery with frequently changing exhibitions. Specialises in contemporary British art, particularly representational painting. Works often for sale, often "affordable" (sub £1k)
V. K.
Amazing gallery with lots of space. I attended a food photo award ceremony. It was packed with around 500 people. The staff was helpful. It is in the heart of London. Parking could be an issue but other than that, it is great!
D. B.
Excellent RBA exhibition. A very good and varied selection of art. Recommended.

I have been a Friend of the Mall Galleries for many years and am able to visit most of the exhibitions there. The exhibits are always very well displayed, well lit with plenty of room to move around. The gallery staff are always pleasant and helpful. In pre-Covid times I enjoyed having a coffee in the gallery and browsing through the books and cards in the gallery shop. One day I hope they will be open again to visitors. My recent visit to the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours was brilliant, very well worth a visit.
H. C.
A hidden gem. Lots of interesting exhibitions, friendly staff and affordable entrance fee.
R. S.
The Mall Galleries are really now very safe to visit with controlled ticketing and safe distancing, I felt very safe there.
This years exhibition was good but not quite as good as some past years. It's a bit like wine vintage. It varies. I would definitely go again and look forward to the next exhibition. The staff are always very charming and most helpful. - Richard
J. M.
Thoroughly delightful low key gallery with an eclectic mix of art work on display. Perhaps the lighting could be improved as the works were hung very snugly? Plenty of space for viewing and socially distancing if you're worried about crowds. A nice contrast to big galleries and worth supporting.
S. B.
As ever, the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours exhibition held at the Mall Galleries was a superb event with a wide range of high quality paintings on display. OK so this included one of mine! Aside from that, it was a stimulating couple of hours exploring the work of fellow watercolour painters, both RI members and non-members, who were also fortunate to be selected for the open exhibition. There was an extra exhilaration at this being the first art exhibition I have visited since the start of the pandemic in early 2020 and, despite masks, there was a real sense of energy & excitement at being part of such a joyous communal event. Would heartily recommend. There's also some wonderful work still available to buy.
A. C.
It was great to be back in the mall Gallery again and able to see and almost feel the presence of each artwork in way just not possible with even the best virtual experience. The diversity of different expression of water colour techniques and styles is a delight, and the artworks range from beautiful renditions of the artist vision to the gritty and sometimes harsh emotions that flow out image and into our perceptions.
It is also a peaceful space to enjoy a moment of quiet in the frenetic pace of the noisy city that surrounds. Get there if you can.
J. M.
It is always a treat to visit this gallery. The standard of work is often breathtaking. the artworks are well displayed in a pleasant space. I have also enjoyed many interesting art events such as demonstrations and workshops. Highly recommended!
L. S.
What a great exhibition. It is fantastic to be looking at art work again in person so much better than doing it online. The staff at the Mall Galleries have gone out of their way to make the galleries as covid safe as possible and everybody follows the rules so you can just enjoy the art work. Lots of paintings to fall in love with.
R. B. H.
Nice place to visit. Don't forget to visit this place when you are visiting Buckingham palace, Admiralty arch of Trafalgar Square.
Wonderful arts and craft collections are there.
R. H.
I was so pleased to be able to visit The Mall Gallery again in time to enjoy the water colour exhibition. As usual the exhibition was wonderful, just as good as before. I was impressed by how well things were organised for a safe visit. It was easy to see exactly where we had to walk and the arrangements neither restricted the view nor spoilt the enjoyment. I will be even more pleased when the restriction can be lifted completely but in the meantime, Well done and I look forward to my next visit.
Thank you, Rachel Harper.
V. G.
Lovely gallery, plenty of art! Looking forward to the coffee shop re opening in January.
J. E.
I recently went to the annual exhibition of the Royal Society of British Artists. Really great to be back at the Mall Galleries; booking was straightforward and the galleries were reasonably quiet, thanks, presumably, to the timed ticket system. Staff were, as ever, welcoming and friendly. Great exhibition of figurative art in a wide variety of media. Despite the one-way system it was quite easy to go round again to revisit any pieces of art that I wanted to. Of course I missed the cafe (and the coat-hanging space) but the loos were open. The Mall Galleries have done well to get us visiting in person again - I have already booked my next visit!
E.
A stunning exhibition, covering painting and sculpture. Well worth the £5 entrance fee.
H. B.
This is one of my favourite galleries in London. It has an excellent range of exhibitions and unlike the larger galleries you can view the whole exhibition without feeling overwhelmed by the number of exhibits and can better appreciate and remember all you have seen. And then of course you can follow up your visit with a walk round the beautiful St James' Park.
H. B.
I am a frequent visitor to the Mall Galleries and have enjoyed many exhibitions over the years. I live near Cambridge and call into the Mall Galleries when I am in London. I usually manage to see most of the exhibitions. So I have missed it during the lockdown periods. It was a very enjoyable experience to be able to see the Royal Society of British Artists exhibition last weekend. The layout was excellent and the one-way system worked well. And, of course, the exhibition was as eclectic as ever.
G. J.
A very small but friend!y gallery that is well worth a visit combining oil, watercolours and other mixed media with small sculpture pieces. Has a nice tea room area and clean toilets. The sea scapes and wildlife exhibitions are my favourite. Here are pictures from last year's wildlife exhibition.
H.
Love this annual exhibition, showing pieces from a wide variety of talented water colour artists. I appreciate each painting and then enjoy examining the many different techniques used. I felt safe and comfortable with the covid arrangements in place.
I. T.
As ever the galleries were a joy with paintings hung neatly and friendly staff always available to assist with any questions. Well presented and thoughtfully curated. It's such a lovely opportunity to see excellent and varied work in calm and spacious surroundings.
D. P.
It's a nice gallery and the Portraiture exhibition is excellent. But... We booked and paid for 15:30, arrived early and by 15:45 were told the gallery was closing. In the end we didn't have time to see everything. The staff were much more interested in going home than in their paying customers. Disappointing.
J. B.
Huge array of beautiful paintings and sculptures from members British Society Artists on display. The gallery has a one way system and timed tickets to ensure safe socially distanced visits, and it's a lovely airy space to enjoy art
f. l.
Lovely exhibitions through the year, small, nice gallery with coffee placa.
G. K.
So good to be able to do something 'normal' again. Visiting the Mall Galleries was no different to past visits apart from having to wear a mask and no cloakroom facilities for bags and coats. Went on the only late night as a Member but the early closing time on other days is not very helpful for any other visits. Not sure how long the exhibition had been set up for viewing but some of the sculptures could have done with a dust before opening. Not trying to sound negative just wanted to pass on some thoughts to the management. Overall, as always a show of all kinds of talent from new to established artists all in the same galleries, something to be found for everyone's taste.
C. P.
Set in the Mall this beautiful, small gallery is a great canvas for contemporary art
R. N.
One of my favourite hidden treasures of London. The Royal Society of British Artists Annual Exhibition in April 2021, and the watercolours Exhibition in May 2021 were both a real treat. Such a variety of art and talent on show. And very thorough covid precautions as you'd expect.
S. G.
The Mall Galleries are located 5 minutes away from Trafalgar Square, tucked away along a path of lined trees. Blink and you'll miss it.
I visit this place often. I particularly like the painting exhibitions. Well worth a visit and the entrance fee is always reasonably priced.
R. E.
An annual feast for lovers of figurative painting. Mall Galleries have done their best to make viewing a pleasure despite the current covid restrictions. It's great to be able to go to a real exhibition after so long!
L. C.
I love the Mall Galleries. Secret little central London gem that many do not know about.
J. B.
Having the opportunity to really get close to art again was such a pleasure. I really enjoyed the exhibition a great variety of different mediums and styles.
The staff were all very helpful and friendly, many thanks.
S. R.
It was great to be back at the Mall Galleries last week. It's one of the things I missed most during lock down. It was not crowded and we felt totally safe. The exhibition was terrific with lots of beautiful work. The coffee bar is not yet open but there's always the cafe in St James's park for a cup of coffee afterwards. I'm looking forward to the visiting again.
I. R.
The watercolour exhibition was very enjoyable. It had everything I needed except a cup of coffee ! Ample space to see the paintings safely. A large variety of painting styles, from puzzling to photographic perfection which is not my favourite style but I certainly admire the artists's skills. A good variety of portraits too. And there was the enjoyment of trying to work out why some of the paintings had been given a prize when others which I preferred hadn't. I go to exhibitions to be stimulated and I was by this one. Thank you.
D. S.
I have visited Mall galleries many times and have always enjoyed the experience. Well presented, fantastic range of art. I always come away inspired. Its great value for money, ( sometimes free ). Friendly staff.
J. M.
Hygiene at the Gallery was first class. It was a great joy being able to examine real paintings after months of isolation. Pictures were well displayed and it was easy to keep away from others and enjoy the paintings. I missed the cafe and being able to reflect on some works from the middle of the room, but there it is!
I would very much like to visit the Marine Artists exhibition but my concern is the train journey to London.
S. A.
How lovely to be able to attend the RBA's annual show at Mall Galleries this week. The galleries are always a pleasure to visit - great staff, lighting, atmosphere and such a lot of space. Thank you
k. c.
Great watercolour exhibition! Shame my favourite was marked as sold... but hey-ho!
It was fantastic to be back viewing art in a beautiful gallery in a stunning location in my favourite city in the world. Thank you x
R. H.
It's an excellent exhibition with an amazing variety of pictures and sculptures. Social distancing was fully maintained and sanitisers available on entry. Pre booking ensures that the gallery is not too crowded.
J. S.
Great that this place is open again. No cafe at present. Good Pastels exhibition . More seating to rest one's feet would have been nice
S. C.
Well organised. Helpful staff. Excellent exhibitions (I've been twice already). No café yet but the loos are open. Easy to get to and very interesting and varied works to look at (and buy - optional!)
M. T.
Safe place to visit, great exhibition as always. I would recommend these Galleries to all Art Lovers and anyone who wishes to broaden their horizons.
S. L.
We thoroughly enjoyed the recent Paintings by Water Colour Artists at the Pall Mall Galleries. A beautiful and fascinating display of art and a pleasant space in which to view them.
S. B.
Lovely to see the Mall Galleries open. Really enjoyed my visit to both the portrait and with water colour exhibitions. High standard.
J. P.
Very comfortable and felt safe with masks and social distancing adhered to but did not affect my enjoyment of the exhibition which as usual was terrific with such variety, diversity and especially talent
P. D.
As ever, a lovely place to visit. It felt completely safe and comfortable - but missed the little coffee bar! Some lovely exhibits.
C. A.
Delightful airy and well lit space. Very well organized for socially distanced visits with timed entry and an efficient one-way system. The RBA annual exhibition is a delight and proof that there is light at the end of this tunnel!
A. C.
Another great show from the rba with a high standard of work from the members as well as from non members and young artists. The gallery is also well equipped to deal with the co vid restrictions social distancing is no problem
L. S.
Always a pleasure to visit this gallery's exhibitions. The art is of a high standard, and I'm soon to be the proud owner of one particular piece. Friendly helpful staff too!
D. C.
An incredible eclectic selection of stunning paintings by the Royal Society of British Artists. So wonderful to walk around this prestigious Gallery after our long lockdown.
J. W.
I love this gallery.
Its always interesting and full of brilliant works of art. A small gallery but well worth visiting, and a very reasonable price for entry
A. J.
I love visiting this gallery. It's small and has never been too busy when I've been there. The exhibitions vary. The best one I've seen was a watercolour exhibition - so many different styles of watercolour painting. It's not expensive, has a place where you can buy tea/coffee and sit in the gallery itself to drink. The small shop has a good range of lovely cards and books. Recommended.
L. C.
A lovely space that is never overcrowded. I always enjoy a visit to The Mall Galleries and look forward to being able to have a coffee once the cafe can reopen.
S. L.
Lovely gallery - well organised re social distancing: toilets available but no coffee/tea shop yet sadly (but I’m sure that will come).
A little hidden gem
D. D.
It was wonderful being inside the Mall Galleries again and feasting my soul on the incredibly talented artists on show. Please go, and share in the spirit of artistic expression.
J. D.
Had an amazing time visiting the Mall Galleries to see the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours. It was so well organized and definitely Covid safe.
E. B.
After a summer of being denied such pleasures, it was a relief to visit two exceptional exhibitions at the Mall Galleries. With the pre-booking system the numbers were restricted to a time slot and everyone wore masks. The only other change was a one way system that work well to guide people around the paintings in a safe manner. I missed the refreshments and book sales but the everything else was as normal. Travelling into London and around easy as there appear to be hardly anyone in central areas at this time.
J. B.
It was the first exhibition I've seen physically since the pandemic so was a bit anxious about entering the gallery. My fears were completely unfounded - I felt safe while inside viewing the works and had no concerns whatsoever. I thoroughly enjoyed the exhibition ...though I did miss not be able to sit and have a coffee halfway through...!! Of course, no refreshments allowed inside. There were some 'covid safe' benches thoughtfully placed if you needed to sit and examine a particular painting. I also loved so much of the sculpture pieces on display - an excellent exhibition!
S. R.
Swish gallery where I managed to view 2 lots of auction pieces. Staff friendly and knowledgeable
J. K.
Walk across the sunlit Trafalgar Square, passing the 9-ton whipped cream and giant cherry sculpture on the 4th plinth, to the RBA annual exhibition. In those few hundred yards you experience the full spectrum of contemporary British art in 2021, from ‘4th-plinth-ism’ to the finely crafted ‘framed’ work in the Mall Galleries. Behind the excellent portraits, landscapes, and still life paintings, the influences can be detected - or imagined - Lucian Freud, Stanley Spencer, the Dutch masters. Great credit to the RBA for promoting such skill and dedication. One quibble, and not the RBA’s fault. Uniformly, the prices are too cheap. This quality of artistic endeavour deserves more. Artists, you are devaluing yourselves.
S. R.
Superb collection of work from RI members past, present and future. Well organised one way system within the gallery, so an enjoyable visit.
M. C.
One of the Best Galleries in London , no doubt. Their program over the year is of such extent and quality , that , when visiting London or passing by Trafalgar Square , one should always pass by The Mall Galleries , even if just to enjoy their fine space and a warm coffee surrounded by beautiful artworks. Must Visit
K. R.
Great exhibition and lovely staff. Easy to find.
i. g.
Went to the excellent Mall Galleries in first post lockdown trip to London. An afternoon chatting art with my daughter about the pieces in the RBA exhibit #bliss
J. G.
There was a wonderful exhibition of portraits in early May. Sadly, it is over now. I think it is worth getting to the Galleries' mailing list.
D. B.
This gallery is special, showing work of real artists not prima Donna's. Always relaxed and inviting space to view art and have a coffee. Exhibitions change regularly. When for sale prices are quite affordable. Better than RA summer exhibition.
J. W.
We enjoyed visiting the Mall Galleries, convenient near several Tube Stations. The space is much bigger than it looks at first with several rooms including a gift shop and a cafe. We saw an excellent portrait exhibition there.
R. S.
Fantastic exhibition, well managed, lots of social distancing and a huge selection of paintings of a very high standard
Well worth a visit
D. K.
Nice gallery with a big selection of paintings. There is a cafeteria, small book and postcard shop, wheelchair access & elevator and toilets. There was a £4 entrance fee. I’m giving it 4 stars because it was a bit crowded and I had to wait to see some of the paintings.
J. S.
Best art from garbage to superb art great artist 😊
G. J.
Private art gallery, so you will need to pay. Membership is a good idea. There are frequent changes of exhibitions featuring contemporary art. Membership gives you entry, members' viewings and a free brochure / programme.
Sited over 3 rooms with a café and usual facilities. Very pleasant atmosphere with a wealth of exhibits and talent. Staff are friendly and helpful.
J. C.
Love this gallery. It's small and intimate, the staff are friendly, the cafe sells lovely coffee. The tables and chairs are in the larger gallery so you can enjoy your drink while viewing the exhibits. They also offer a very reasonable option of buying them.
T. F.
Amazing range of really talented artists. Personally found more here to admire than in a typical "greatest hits" museum visit.
G. B.
Great exhibition by the royal institute of oil painters
R. D.
This is a small gallery really close to Trafalgar Square
It usually has interesting exhibitions and as it is not too large I am usually interested enough to get to the end of viewing all the exhibits without getting tired. It has its own cafe and a bookshop
Always interesting.
A. W.
Lovely space, cheap entry, excellent exhibitions. Worth keeping a frequent eye on what's on. Shop full of interesting books, beautiful cards and other good stuff. Cafe area tiny but does beverages and cakes......
S. K.
A warm welcome from staff and a small but well stocked shop of art books and gifts. The gallery space was light and airy and exhibits were well displayed. Didn't try the coffee shop but it appeared to serve fresh cakes and hot drinks.
I. M.
Excellent exhibition. Safe and well spaced. I felt very comfortable during my visit.
S. “. W.
Fabulous!! I only visit here once a year for the Guild of Aviation Artists exhibition, but every year I am amazed at the paintings on display. They do many exhibitions all through the year so I am sure that you will be able to see something that you like if you are into art, or if like me you are a member of a particular society / club / organisation who shows atcthe gallery.
They have a reasonable café, and an art book store, as well as being able to purchase any of the pictures on display at that exhibition anyway. Free lockers (£1 deposit) available also stop you having to take all your bags, coats, shopping around with you! Why can't more museums / galleries do this??!!
Good clean toilets as well.
J. R.
The Exhibition was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. I look forward to visiting it next year.
Best wishes
Joe Ryan

Great gallery, annual show on at the moment ,great work opposite st James park,in Pal Mall
J. K.
Always fantastic and high quality exhibitions where most paintings can be purchased. The recent portrait exhibition was outstanding.
T. D.
This gallery is a wonderful place for connoisseurs of the art. I'm one of them and my dream is to have a house full with paintings. Last month I bought one from Mall Gallery and I'm very satisfied and proud with me. I can't describe what the feeling to watch the paint on my wall make me fell relaxed and I forgot for every problem in my life. :))) Congrats to every artist in the gallery, who creates his own exhibition.
P. S.
This is a gem to visit. The current exhibitions are free and both interesting. It's not crowded and has a nice little cafe for snacks and drinks. We wandered in off the Mall during a walk to Green Park and saw excellent work by artists previously unknown to us. Definitely worth a visit but check what's on via the website.
H. W.
A delightful lesser known gallery showcasing regularly changing themed exhibitions by amateur British artists. A great space with good coffee, a super shop, nice loos and decent prices. You should go...it's the perfect antidote to the RA / National Gallery when the pall on you. And in such a setting! ( Spot Old Beakey's inside one of the Admiralty Arches as you go in.
M. P.
Went here for a new event of British Artists because I know one of them.
A. D. C.
A wonderful exhibition space right by St.James's Park on the Mall

Fantastic exhibition with great curation.
L. R.
I love the Mall gallery and visit every time I’m in London.
The space is wonderful and the exhibitions are uplifting.
Well done
S.
Fab Space. Small but perfectly formed. Perfect for a half day visit, in an amazing historic part of London. A haven from all the hustle and bustle. Plus the cafe had the gooiest cake I've seen in many a long day...
M. T.
I visited the Mall Galleries for the first time to see an exceptional exhibition of paintings by amateur pastile artists. If you enjoy art I would recommend a visit as soon as possible.
s. m.
The Mall is a small gallery which generally shows the works of groups of artists, for example this week is the Society of Pastel Artists and also the Wapping Group who paint around the Thames and the coast. It is a charming and intimate gallery. Many of the works are for sale. It also has a cafe located in the middle of the gallery; so you can have your tea and cakes surrounded by affordable art.
N. A.
Great place loved the atmosphere here
A. P.
On the Mall so a wonderful position the Mall Galleries hosts the Pastel society exhibition. It's a bright, small to medium sized gallery with very friendly staff. I always enjoy going there.
M. L.
Great gallery, they have some interesting exhibitions on including the 2015 Pink Lady Photography winners.
If you're an artist looking for somewhere to exhibit that is not too big but has plenty going for it including location, this is where you want to be
m. l.
Good central London bgallery space with regularly changing exhibitions. Not a destination gallery but as green park is across the road, combine the two and have a great afternoon out. Obviously depends on one's taste what's on show, so check out the website before going.
S. H.
Super well organised and wonderful to be supporting the arts once again. Some beautiful work on display!
m. p.
Nice place for show/celebration. easy to find and very near Charring Cross
M. L.
Very good art gallery which has changing exhibitions.
G. S.
Small but trendy gallery with many excellentss exhibitions of high quality. Host to several established and renowned art associations such as miniaturist, watercolour, portaitists, etc., as well as photos. Eclectic and usually excellent. Get on their mailing list. And enjoy a coffee and cake in their excellent café.
S. F.
Oh dear. Came to London for the day just to use my new membership card, only to find the Gallery is closed until the 5th of September. Wish it had said so in big letters on the web site. Or even on the door! My score reflects the fact that I’m disappointed and cranky.
L. R.
I love the Mall gallery and visit every time I’m in London.
The space is wonderful and the exhibitions are uplifting.
Well done
M. P.
Went here for a new event of British Artists because I know one of them.
J. B.
What a fresh and interestingly varied selection of paintings - we loved every minute
Y. D.
The best of the best of usually the older generation of artists😃👍
A. S.
A great free gallery with lots of rotating exhibitions. And a cafe that sits in the middle of all the art. Well worth a visit on the way to Buckingham Palace or Trafalgar square
J. W.
Airy yet intimate gallery showing the amazing works of the Pastel Society when I visited. Great being able to enjoy a good coffee in the midst of the artworks...
I. 0.
An undervalued exhibition space on the mall, the gallery has 3 different rooms which are used for either 1,2 or 3 exhibitions at a time. The exhibitions will either be free or will cost you £4 and the exhibitions last on average 1 or 2 weeks.
s. w.
Small cosy Gallery, high standards, lovely to be able to enjoy coffee or tea with cakes surrounded by paintings, great little shop too and very affordable entrance fee.
S. C.
An excellent gallery with plenty of space to stand back and admire the pictures but not too big and imposing. Really nice staff. A great atmosphere.
G. N.
Excellent gallery with mainly modern art. Quite diverse exhibitions but some very nice art. Coffee and cakes are also very good but not cheap!
J. J.
Its a gallery with art. Its small enough not to get boring. 2 things first of they really air con and they need to pick better art (some of its well what were they thinking) there are some amazing artists out they who they seem to constantly reject.
S. J.
A great venue and an enjoyable way to browse high-quality art at reasonable prices.
K. B.
Great exhibitions at Mall Galleries, RS of Portrait Painters, Wapping Group and a Brian Senior retrospective. Mall Galleries never fails to stimulate.
j. d.
A wonderfully eclectic show with pieces in every medium... a joy to see such accomplished pieces in a real space.
D. H.
After years of walking past we have begun to visit this gallery whenever we are in the area. It's spacious and often has free exhibitions.
b. c.
Visit a lot. Very manageable size, always interesting art. Often free, otherwise less than £5 entry. Close to National and National Portrait galleries.
J. C.
Excellent marine art exhibition at present; I couldn't stop smiling. Trafalgar Square with its fourth plinth and street performers nearby is a treat too.
s. s.
Small but nice and light. Got a cafe and a little shop for souvenirs. Liked the chess boards on the tables, that was a pleasant surprise. The staff were friendly. It was a pleasant place to be.
D.
Perfectly formed gallery. It's all about the art here! Exhibitions feature varying styles and media from contemporary artists. Truly Inspiring and beautifully curated.
J. H.
Possibly my favourite London gallery. Not too big, friendly and exhibitions of little known artists. Food is good too - sandwiches, coffee and cakes.
S. J.
Lovely paintings, nice people, nice environment
s. s.
Visited the wildlife artist exhibition. Really good to see such wonderful work. Entry is free although donations are much appreciated.
N. K.
A lovely gallery with consistently excellent exhibitions!
D. A.
Nice gallery with up to 40 different shows per year here usually chosen works by the participants , very unusual but nice! Good show on at the moment too!
S. S.
Nice friendly atmosphere along with some great art.
D. R.
A great way to see art being produced by today's local artist. Nice cafe. Check for talks by art historians and critics.
c. g.
This gallery is small, fairly quiet, and yet close to the popular center. It has recently shin a collection of aviation oriented art... very interesting.
J. D.
One of my favourite galleries in London and one of the few that I could afford to have bought artwork from. So many exhibitions throughout the year too.
P. K.
Gallery space with varied shows throughout the year. Mostly great shows from societies specialising in one theme or medium. For example marine paintings or watercolors. Café and toilets.

(Translated) "Lee Young Jun PEN ART"
Pen Art (General Remarks)
Infinity of lines and dots have symbolism. Such symbolism is ever changing according to the spirit ’s depth. All works are kaleidoscopic; they are usually composed of indescribable expressions. Therefore, art ’s depth also can be said to be unlimited. Is pen art ’s depth also infinite? In other words, do the lines and dots flowing from the nib of a pen have an artistic qualification? In this respect, it is worth thinking deeply. Pen art begins from an essence of nature ’s fundamental values. From the standpoint of value, or color, a harmony of black and white is essential in nature. As it is impossible to see any color in darkness, distinguishing color is an essential role of light. That is why the soul is drawn to light. Whiteness, or light is a spiritual reflection of the soul while blackness, or darkness is a reality of life on earth. As the color green is an essential color of vegetation, burnt charcoal is an earthy color that will stay near black. Blackness is heterogeneous and may be hostile to life. If blackness belongs to the essence of nature, it also may be said to represent the image of death. A combination of black and white constitutes degrees of lightness and darkness. When painting black on a white background, the soul is transported to the white background. Whiteness comes to life when contrasted with black line and black space. In this case, soul also may be expressed through the blackness. Soul may be transported to the black or a combination of white and black, which shed a mysterious merit to the soul or spirit. Pen arts starts and ends from an essence of nature ’s fundamental contrasts. The primary essence is infinite and eternal while the artistic harmony of black and white can take one ’s breath away. But, this is not possible until a metamorphosis has been realized over many years and spiritual transcendence has occurred. The transfer of spirit occurs when one ’s life experiences are projected onto the white canvas in harmony with blackness. That is the true ‘pen art.’ Lee Lee Young Jun

"Lee young jun PEN ART Introduction"
(General: 總論) PEN ART (Korea)
-
The infinity of lines and dots is symbolic.
Its symbolism changes with the depth of the mind.
All works are like that.
Because of its tremendous change, it leads to an indescribable expression.
Thus, the depth of art is infinite.
Speaking of the art of pen, is there an infinite depth?
In general, the lines and dots flowing from the tip of the pen
The question is, is it possible to have artistry?
You need to think deeply about this.
The art of pen begins with the nature of nature's fundamental colors.
From the essence of color, harmony of black and white is fundamental to nature.
Just as you can't see colors in dark places without lighting
It is the essential function of light that makes it possible to distinguish colors.
Therefore, it draws the spirit in the white light.
White or light is a spiritual image of spirit.
The natural color is black. As green is the essential color of plants
Burned charcoal is an essential color that remains black.
There can be no movement of life in absolute darkness.
Black is heterogeneous and hostile to life.
If black is the essence of nature, black is the spiritual image of death.
Contrast is achieved when white is combined with black.
If you paint black on a white screen, 靈 will be transferred to the white screen.
When it meets a black line or a black surface, white revives.
You can express the spirit through black.
Spirit (靈) is the only thing that can be transferred into black, and the color of spirit and soul is black and white.
When combined, it has a mystery. And the art of pen is the essence of nature's fundamental colors
Begins with and ends with the essence of fundamental color.
The fundamental essence is infinite and eternal, and the harmony of black and white is artistic
You can breathe alive enough. It has been refined and completed through a long time
It is possible only after this is done, and the perfect melody of soul must be premised.
The world of spirit is created only when spirit enters the white screen with a high and vivid melody in harmony of black and white.
That is the true pen art.

"Lee young jun PEN ART 총론"
(총론 :總論)PEN ART(Korea)
-
