Reviews of Muxima
D. M.
Was an awesome brunch spot with an abundance of vibes and music; now a music and arts space. Open Wed-Sat 7pm-late. Soon to be open for coffee & cake as well.
A. M. A.
Absolutely beautiful coffee shop in Bow, conveniently close to public transport and with brilliant cakes!
Definitely a place to spend hours on end contemplating the unique and beautiful décor, eating cake and sipping coffee, tea or a smoothie.
The brunch options are really original and nice. With a tiny bit more courage in the seasoning they'd be mind-blowing! The sourdough bread, baked in-house, is really delicious. And the cakes... have I mentioned the cakes yet? You have to try them!
S. B.
Nice little cafe with quirky decor and extensive brunch menu. The pancakes were decent (though no bananas!) the Eggs Royale was nice but a little small if you are really hungry. Would come back.
T. N.
Nice atmosphere and great food. We had the iberico and the halloumi sarnie which were both slightly more expensive than most brunch places but super tasty and definitely worth it. It's a small place and not many seats so quite cozy seating but everyone is really friendly.
N. R.
The staff here are always so lovely and friendly. It has a lovely chilled out vibe! The breakfast menu is extensive and the coffee is great. The polenta cake is a must...if there is any left!
T. S.
Local. Hip. Great coffee and food. Perfect for brunch or to get on with work. So lucky to have a local cafe this good!
M. N.
Awesome coffee... One of the best one I've had in London... The place has a nice vibe, very arty atmosphere.
J. B.
This is my local coffee shop, they do great coffee, lovely breakfast and the place is just so relaxing and the staff are always so friendly and laid back. I really recommend that you come here if you are in the area.
A.
Delicious brunch, cosy and unique interior and super friendly staff. The coffee was really really good too!
R. K.
Amazing food, friendly staff, great music courtesy of #DjAisha, stylish and comfy cafe/bar, and you can buy handwoven baskets there on your night out, too, which is always nice 👍
M. S.
Wine, music and nice management that can make you feel so much welcome

Love this place. Can't believe I haven't left a review yet.
I discovered this cute homely Cafe with my friend about 6 months ago and now I'm a frequent visitor. I live about 20 minutes away and make special trips to visit.
It's a cool place to chill and have coffee, they serve great food usually a rustic lunch menu, my fav is Welsh rarebit.
Friday usually has a Angolan tapas I tried almost everything on the tapas menu, everything is tasty and full of flavor.
Check this place out it will become your second home.
S. R.
Love this place! It's my local brunch and coffee spot - the coffee here is amazing. The food is fresh and very tasty, with good friendly service. The only drawback is the hipster decor with unmatched tables and wonky old chairs that don't feel overly secure. The only reason l couldn't give a 5 star review unfortunately.
E.
Amazing food, great friendly staff and the music is amazing.
M. B. D.
This is in my opinion, the finest cafe
Restaurant. Dishes from Africa through the Middle-East to European
& excellent Vegetarian dishes. The Ambiance is excellent. A Coffee and browsing the web is welcomed. By evenings Friday's to Sunday, Meals accompanied by Music. Music & Alcohol are also available.

Muxima is one of the finest establishments in East London. A true hidden gem, whether you want to go out with friends or sit by yourself and reset your mind. The menu is breakfast / lunch orientated, extremely well priced and they have plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. Its a great coffee house too, with lovely coffee and fresh cakes and slices out every day. I always walk out a better human being than when I entered. Thank you guys for your kind community spirit and amazing service.
M. C.
This is a lovely café. It has such a relaxed vibe. Their coffee is fantastic, and so is their food menu. The owner and all the employees are very friendly – you’re made to feel at home as soon as you walk through the door. I live locally and I often like to visit to have a tasty lunch, and do a few hours freelance work. They also host regular events, such as art exhibitions, live music and a chess evenings. Highly recommended.
M. K.
I arranged to meet a friend today for lunch today. I ordered the Falafel Burger with salad and a fresh orange juice. I really enjoyed my meal. The staff were attentive and gave us plenty of time to order. I was told that Muxima means heart and it was worth the visit. The cafe is comfortable has music. We experienced a friendly and thoughtful table service. I would like to sample the coffee and cake it was really tempting. I was surprised I had not spotted this cafe before today. I am glad we gave it a try based on reviews. I will come again and would recommend.
Y. C.
A beautiful cafe on Roman road with a special and homey atmosphere and delicious and surprising menu, combines British breakfast classics and Angolan cuisine. Isaac, the manager, was super friendly. A great experience. Will be back again and again.
J. K.
I like this place. Top notch sandwiches. Staff are great. I'm picky about my tea but they also managed to get this right. Cakes are awesome. Nice quirky place. Had maybe one or two occasions where the sandwich or cake wasn't their usual standard but on the whole I'd continue to visit.
j. c.
This is a lovely place actually. After having moved from Fairfield road it became more of a local cafe for me. I used to take my daughter here before she started nursery and it's just very warm, family friendly with a nice atmosphere.
Only downside is that the old style furniture rarely suits a giant like myself so yeah...i knocked a star off the review for that. I am a man who likes my comfortable seating. :)
C. C.
Love this place. The decor reminds me of cafés from back home (Montreal, Canada) yet I feel transported to a warmer climate when I'm there. The staff was very warm, inviting and friendly. I love the halloumi sandwich, I get it every time. I don't know if it is because I was sick with a cold and didn't want to prepare food the first time I went and the first time I ate the sandwich, but I'm sure they're responsible for my recovery. The coffee is delicious too.
You should just fix the sing outside.
A. B.
Very beautiful place, nice staff, clean toilet, good and warm coffee and amazing brownie.
J. D.
This has to be one of the best cafe's I have been to for breakfast, I visited about a week or so ago. The interior is cosy and has an eclectic style that is very unique. I had the jamon, chorizo and fried egg on sour dough toast. It was superb, my only regret was that I was in a terrible rush because I had to be at work shortly after. The staff member that served us was incredibly polite and so was the Chef. The chef seeing I was in a rush apologised about the time for the food when it was in no way slow and was of outstanding quality. I will be returning for a longer visit soon!
S. C.
I really like this place. The owners are accommodating and the environment, relaxing. I came in around 3pm for late lunch and they sorted me out. They're really lovely, and will make you feel right at home.
I. D.
Very good coffee and very friendly service! I really enjoy coming here and love the place. I especially like the pictures of local people all over their walls. This cafe is a great asset to the local community.
I. S.
Everything is perfect about this place! From the moment i walked in i felt pure love: people who work here - love it, people who come here - love it! Very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, everyone is in their own personal space, even when busy it feels uncrowded. The cappuccinos are made to perfection! Outstanding value.
W. Y.
Nice place and food. Very friendly staff.
C. C.
Awesome board game selection. We played Monopoly 1v1 which was brutal. The mismatch of furniture gives a cute charm, very spacious inside. Really friendly staff and quick service.
J. Y.
Not a lot to look at from the outside but this is a gem inside. The miss matched furniture adds to its charm with the many boxes of chess dotted around it is perfect for relaxing and chilling out. Time stands still in this splendid cafe whos cakes, bread, coffee and wine are amongst the best in the area. A must try cafe serving tasty food. We had a superb evening meal while listening to live music from the talented Sid Sings.
A. E.
Great cafe with tasty food at decent prices. Great for brunch or coffee and cake! (Vegan and gluten free options also available)
A. H.
Totally a hidden gem. The prices are affordable, the food is delicious! It's a brilliant little brunch place if you're ever in Roman Road. Their cake selection is as varied as their decor :) definitely check it out.
D. C. (. D.
Stumbled across this wonderful place, can't believe we've not discovered it sooner. The very friendly staff create a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy the lovely food and drinks served there. Will definitely visit again.
R. J.
Have a cup of a delicious coffe or have a brunch in nice and chill anviroment, yes this is your place.
Staff very friendly and always happy to help.
Music is always very easy and not to loud
Nice selection of cakes
K. H.
I LOVE this place. Great guys running it, we love the food and the love. The care that goes into the caipirinha makes them extra special. I would happily eat my brekky lunch and dinner here. Its like a home from home. AND great tunes! What more can you want. Ive taken most my family and friends.
R. G.
This is great venue for a cold winter or a spring day. With an extraordinary collection of nick-nacks you will feel right at home. Combined with a great hearty and a scrumptious menu no can go wrong with an order. Must try for any Roman market visitor.
F. A.
Amazing breakfast with French toast and egg royal. I went for a quick snack and I loved it the staff is very friendly and nice I've been served in no time and was delicious. If you are in roman road for shopping that's a nice place you might want check it out.
J. M.
Have only discovered this place recently but blown away by the African inspired food, decor and friendly service at reasonable prices. With the greatest respect to the legendary Cafe East this might be the best caff on the Roman Road.
D. S.
Character and full of heart. Well worth the trip of your in the area.
Often here for brunch. The choice here is limited but you'll enjoy it all (... although I'd ask them to hold of the balsamic on the Eggs Benedict!)
The staff come with the smile and groggyness of an epic night out you wish you were part of. It's got that Sunday morning slowness about it and it works well.
A. H.
Great cafe. Came here for breakfast. Food and coffee was very good. Friendly service. I really enjoyed the chilled, relaxing atmosphere.
R. L.
We love this gem of a cafe. They also have amazing evening live music and a tasty african inspired evening fusion menu. The people who run it are fab! Recommended!
M. G.
Brilliant place to eat. Run by artists and creatives who show you just how wonderful an independent restaurant can be. Delicous food & a wonderful quietly buzzing atmosphere which welcomes everyone.
One of London's best in my experience Make the journey if you have to and discover Bow, Hackney Wick and the Olympic Park in to the bargain.
G. C.
Small restaurant with a sudo ramshackle decor. A little limited menu but enough choice to find something for most. All cooked very well. Good place to try out something new. Lovely friendly people that run it.
J. D.
Fantastic atmosphere. Perfect place for breakfast dinner lunch , to chill or to work on your laptop, to enjoy artists and listen nice selection of music. Also, the staff is amazing !
M. R.
Really tasty food and coffee. We had the chorizo sarnie and I added halloumi... delish! Friendly staff and quirky atmosphere with interesting decor. Would definitely recommend!
S. R.
Really nice atmosphere. Best eggs royale I have had in a long time. Ended up taking away a slice of each of their homemade cakes.
M. P.
Cosy place and friendly staff. Nice to go there with friends or even alone with a book or laptop. Unfortunately, it used to have better food. Both their brunch and their sweets have changed and are not as good as before.
C. D.
A really special place. Lovely staff who make an extra effort to be nice and delicious coffee.
Nice atmosphere in the day (when you can work using wifi) as well as evenings.
Feels very unique...hope it prospers
M. F.

S. B.
Love this local cafe - good food and drinks, music and events!
Only downside is it's sometimes tricky to get a table, but worth the wait.

Best bread in town! Super nice staff and just like chilling in your front room. This place describes the Danish "hygge" (cozy) for me.
N. P.
Great breakfast. Good selection of tea. Well made coffee. Nice staff. VERY good bread baked in the cafe.
J. L.
These blokes are lovely and genuine. Go for the service, stay for the food. What other opportunity do you have to eat Eggs Benedict sitting on a burlap sack?
A. R.
Decent food with lots of vegetarian options, average coffee, very good and friendly service. Price a bit over the average for that area.
A. O.
Attended a private party here, food was good, great atmosphere & nice hosts. Will go back to sample the menu.
F. A.
Amazing cafe, decoration and lovely staff. Must try all the cake, never ate a bad cake slice in this place.
J. T.
Cosy, creative café with great staff and excellent bread and butter pudding. If you like eggs for breakfast then this is the place - there are loads of varieties!

A friend suggested I stop by Muxima when I asked for a suggestion on where to eat on Roman Road. She described it as "probably the best cafe in the world" which is a bold statement.
That said, how could I not pay it a visit? Muxima is deceptively roomy inside with a fantastic array of 'arty' bric-a-brac (I'm loathe to use the term shabby chic) books and magazines abound and on the afternoon I visited some mellow crooner-esque vinyl was playing. Signs indicated there's a DJ on occasion.
Wandering in the welcome was warm and friendly, the menu whilst small caused a conundrum but friendly staff explained each one I shortlisted and made a recommendation based on what I said I was more inclined for.
I opted for Aunty's Shaksuka, with extra egg and followed it up with bread and butter pudding made from croissants and bananas. Both were delicious and good value for money.
Muxima have Wi-Fi so ideal for those 'working from home' tho with the amazing selection of freshly baked cakes you'd better factor in a trip to the gym if you value your waistline!
D. K.
Nice place, good service, excellent food. Short menu, but with food this good that's fine. Very glas to have found it.
J. A. (. B.
What a little treasure this place is, it's very cosy and vibrant at the same time. Nice food and good choice of beverage. Highly recommended.
C. A.
Great food and service. Delicious sourdough at weekends and fabulous selection of cakes. Really friendly atmosphere
L. C.
Great food and coffee, lovely eclectic space. So very, very chilled, so don't go if you're in a hurry.
J. T.
Great food and very chilled out. In fact, if you're in a hurry don't go here because things take a looong time. Not in a bad way, just a chilled way.
T. T.
In the future when social historians come to taxonophy the hipster, they will cite this place. There is a mirror hung at 45 degrees, glass bottles hanging from the ceiling, an upside down lampshade, sourdough, artwork consisting of black painted canvas with chewing gum stuck to it. They serve coffee in glasses, but they serve fruit juice in jam jars.
J. B.
Great music, cool vibe. Wonderful relaxed ginger cat called Rufus. Cozy and really friendly staff.
K. S.
Lovely casual vibe with unique interior! Great customer experience from Isaac. Will come again when I'm back in the mile end area.
