Reviews of Raven Row

Right up my street. In depth, detailed, dry or humorous, often political art retrospectives and group shows. Shortly to become private artists studios for a while before returning as a gallery. Peaceful and stimulating. Great taste, with the skills and budget to pull off complicated shows.
Yvonne Rainer's diagonals forever.

One of the most interesting independent galleries in London. It can also be found in my book Quiet London. A good place to reflect on wider themes and not just on contemporary art.

Contemporary art gallery run by Alex Sainsbury. This non-commercial gallery is pretty influential on the UK art scene. The gallery is set over 3 floors of a beautiful 18th century house. The last show i visited they were providing good quality catalogue books of the exhibition for free.

Showcasing unconventional artists , mostly a bit more historic modern than the usual galleries. Amazing venue restored by well known architect which itself is a gem.

Beautiful period property converted in exhibiting space where you can see some of the finest contemporary art and design. A soul lifting experience in central London.

A glorious space, that offers a curatorial freedom often lacking in galleries across London. A real treasure, and a must for those interested in art.

For TSL, anything that involves travelling off the beaten track mixed with a healthy dose of free art is definitely worthy of attention. Meet Raven Row, an inconspicuous independent gallery tucked behind the well-known Spitalfields market near Liverpool Street station. Whether you’re city folk in need of inspiration during your 15 minute (make that 5) lunch break, or just in the Shoreditch area on the weekend and fancy an art trip, either way, walking round Raven Row is definitely worth your while...

Striking space, in east London this is my favourite so far. Huge space inside, spreading over several floors. Beautiful architecture and light.

A stunning little gallery with some brilliant exhibits, an absolute gem.

It was appeal but not to my style of art, however the work was very interesting and it wasn't to busy so you got the best service as well more time and space to look at the work.
