Reviews of Statue of General James Wolfe
R. J.
Amazing views of Greenwich from this point. Don't know much about his history, but the place is always full of tourists pushing around to take selfies or photos of Canary Wharf / Greenwich / The Queen's House.
*TIP: Toilets are just around the corner passed the Observatory via The Avenue -- 20pp, contactless only
K. M.
The view is just stunning and worth stopping by and enjoying it, especially during such a beautiful weather like today
S. A. A.
The view from the area/hill this staute sits upon is wonderful!
B. F.
I advice every one to visit this place, you can put one feet on the East and the other on the West of the prime meridian. A meridian is the half of an imaginary great circle on the Earth's surface, terminated by the North Pole and the South Pole, connecting points of equal longitude, as measured in angular degrees east or west of the Prime Meridian.
I. J.
Amazing view point of Greenwich below and London beyond. The whole park area is lovely and great to walk around at a leisurely pace taking it all in.
J. M.
One of the best views in London. Nice but hard walk up hill for those who might be less than top fitness but worth the effort to see the telescope and the view. We didn’t want to pay to go in to the Meridian.
G. D.
Wonderful unique view on the park and Canary Wharf
M. F.
This big and spectacular statue was built in 1930 to commemorate General James Wolfe (1727-1759), this Grade II listed structure was designed by Dr. Tait Mackenzie and a gift from the Canadians.
E. A.
One of the best views in London! Totally worth a stop.
J. P.
Great spot to take pictures from the London skyline

K. K.
Nice monument just next to the Royal Observatory with a beautiful view on London.
N. R.
My favourite view over London, and one of the better (and lesser known) hill top views.
A pleasant (steep) walk from Greenwich town centre.
Worth visiting after snow fall when locals head out with sleighs and build snowmen.
J. C.
As others have said, visit this statue for the fantastic view of London behind it! The view is second to none, especially of Canary Wharf. There is a fairly steep walk from the Maritime Museum up to the observatory and for this view but it is well worth it!
R. S.
Outstanding place and a must visit for every tourist coming to LONDON!
B. R.
Still one of the best view to catch in London
D. H.
The statue's, well, a statue, but the view is superb! If you go early in the morning or later in the evening you can avoid the crowds for a peaceful view overlooking London.
M. T.
Incomparable views down to Queen's House, Maritime Museum, Old Naval College, and Canary Wharf. One of the best views in one of the best places in London!
B. K.
Amazing view of canary wharf
A. S.
Lots of parking free after 6 pm
M. J. B.
Second best view in Greenwich. The obnoxious tourists ruin it. Get there at sunrise for it all to yourself or go to the one only locals know about.
C. C.
The statue isn't worth looking at. Face the other side: the view on Greenwich, the Isle of Dogs and Canary wharf is amazing!
R. B.
A great view over London
M. H.
Best view in London
K. T.
The walk to the top is quite steep, but once your reach the top you're rewarded with an amazing view of London!
R. B.
The view is amazing, it can get a bit crowded. Prepare yourself to ''climb'' some stairs(not so many).
F. V.
Nice view of London from this spot just outside the Greenwich observatory. You can see the meridian laser at night
T. K.
The hill offers great view to the River Thames and Canary Wharf.

Wolfe of Quebec is commemorated by this statue. It still bears the scars of German bombs from WW2 and is, in my opinion, the finest viewpoint in London. To the West, you can see the City of London and St Pauls Cathedral is framed by the Towers of Tower Bridge. The skyline is much changed since my childhood, but it was here from my Fathers shoulders that I saw the dock cranes dip during the funeral of Sir Winston Churchill.

(Translated) A small statue, usually there are a large number of people near it, since everyone takes photos with a view of London, and the view from here opens up simply incredible! A very beautiful place!

Небольшая статуя, возле нее обычно большое количество людей, так как все делают фотографии с видом на Лондон, а вид от сюда открывается просто невероятный! Очень красивое место!

(Translated) The British Army officer was widely known to later generations for defeating the French army and winning the Battle of the Plains of Abraham. In 1756, when the Seven Years' War broke out, he was the deputy commander and participated in the Siege of Louisbourg (Siege of Louisbourg). After the capture of Louisbourg, Wolfe's forces captured Quebec after a long siege. But Wolff himself was killed by 3 musket pellets in the heat of the battle. This campaign won him a huge reputation and also made him a symbol of Britain's victory in the Seven Years' War and the expansion of its territory. The British-American painter Benjamin Wester's widely circulated painting The Death of General Wolfe (The Death of General Wolfe) is based on him. Because Wolff captured Quebec and enabled others to capture Montreal, he eventually ended French rule. He was called the "Conqueror of Quebec" and "Conqueror of Canada."
