Reviews of St. Peter's Square
A prominent landmark/hub in the city centre. Good to sit down and soak in the atmosphere and vibe of Manchester. Trams run through the square, and there is the eye catching central library that looks like London's Royal Albert Hall. The roads off the square lead to all directions of the city in particular Market St which is the main open area shopping street and a bit further along is the Arndale Centre
Great place to sit and watch the world go by as well as catch a tram to most of the City Centre as well as the rest of the tram and rail network.
You also have Manchester Town Hall and Central Library but it will be much better once the work is completed on the front of the Town Hall on the opposite side to here in Albert Square.
A couple of safety issues, beware of pickpockets, like most major towns and cities the world over, Manchester has its fair share of pickpockets to contend with. The other issue is Takeaway Delivery Rider's, as in the rest of Manchester, they are lethal. Flying around on Pedestrian Only Squares and Pavements, racing through red lights, riding the wrong way down One Way Streets. Not forgetting SOME, Electric Scooter Riders, most, do ride them sensibly, taking care when riding but there are some that think they own the roads, and pavements.
TAKE CARE
Beautiful! The architecture, Emmeline Pankhurst statue, bars, coffee shops, restaurants... You can get the tram straight there too! Bonus!
Came here to see the German Market. Loved it. It needs a one way system in some areas as it's just so congested with people standing drinking. Loved the lights and picture opportunities. Didn't see any Yorkshire pudding wrap stalls though.
Beautiful tram station. In the near are many shops and chinatown. A very safe place. Security’s are at the platforms. They are friendly and helpful.
If you come Manchester you should visit this place. There are lots of amazing food and drink places.
With trams passing by on a regular basis , the stunningly restored Manchester Library. Places to eat, drink and sit out
There is Central Library, which is a great looking old building. The Town Hall is another great old building. There is a great are gallery. There are plenty of places for a drink and some food. Then when you want to escape there is a tram stop and the buses are round the corner 😉
Went here for Remembrance Sunday. Absolutely wonderful day and a lovely spot to remember the fallen. Will go again next year
Recommend the library entrance and exit lobbys - modern and old in contrast.
The landmark of the city. Beautiful historical place.
Loved to see the trams and the historic St Peter’s Square. I didn’t go inside though.
The center square of the city. Many stores and restos to shop nearby. You can also take a tram to other places in the city from here.
Convenient for tram stop. Lovely decorations at Christmas.
Went on a double retirement drink ( over 90 years service ) every square ideal place to meet thanks to the tram stop , central library and the town hall still set it off with style 😎
Alright. Pop by if you are around that area.
Clean, open, vibrant and very-well connected with the convergence of two tramlines on the northeastern side. Plenty of coffee shops and pubs within easy staggering distance.
A great space to visit. The development of this area has been very impressive over the years. A mixture of old and new architecture combined. A good range of bars, restaurants and cafes to choose from.
The central library is a wonderful building to explore and visit.
St Peter's square also has a tram stop that connects you to every Metrolink line in Manchester. Useful to know if visit the city and plan to branch out
It's a square. Why would anyone rate it? Useful meeting point. The Christmas tree is a bit of a letdown.
Interesting, busy and vibrant square especially in summer time. Lots of restaurants, shopping, sightseeing, relaxation area, public transportation within short walking proximity.
Cycling at night -3 digress couldn't get better . Nice decorations 😁
2 Muslim night riders follow us ...
Went to the covid drop in centre for my 4th jab.int' town hall extension. I'm a fit 73 sorry 74 year old, had to stand for 2hrs outside, luckily it wasn't raining, there was over head cover if it had been. Several...tulip trees? in the fine square.
Amazing place, try not to crash with Tram. I sit at the bench and enjoy the meal.
The first time I went there, saw hundreds of people biking through the square. Celebrating the pride month.
Interesting place to walk around. Many food places nearby.
Lovely Xmas Lights.
Lovely square lots of nice eating places and of course the historic town hall and nearby The lovely Hidden Gem Catholic Church which welcomes visitors of all Religions Well worth a visit
A marvelous library, so interesting and a great place to spend half a day browsing there. And get a snack too.
Spacious place, has trams for easy connections, and has library and art gallery nearby.
Super beautiful, such a great time celebrating the Queen, something ❤️ nice toremember that we were there for the celebrating ceremony.
Absolutely loved Italy, The architecture absolutely amazing and to think it was built thousands of years ago. I will be returning.
Every city should have a statue of a person who every resident is proud of. Emmeline Pankhurst was an leading figure in the Suffragette movement and is quite rightly remembered here, at the heart of this city. On special anniversaries, and at times when women are oppressed around the world, she is the focus of attention and people come to lay flowers in solidarity. She's an important reminder that, 100 years on, people still have rights that need protecting.
Nice square. Definitely you should visit the city library while yo there. It has very relaxing and restful environment.
Although the name suggests an oldesque sqaure in the midst of Manchester, I was disappoited that it is all being encroached by modernistic project all around. It is a okay place.
Brilliant place, we came for the Christmas Market and loved everywhere
Good Metrolink station and close to almost everything, always get a ticket first before going on the trams here and there are plenty of ticket machines on offer for that.
We love St Peter's Square. We sat outside taking in the surroundings while we ate, it is so clean.
Lovely environment to have a relaxing break and frequent trams connecting to the city.
Went to watch the proclamation of charles III. No issues but st peters square is a bit of a wasteland. Not much greenery or life about it. Just loads of hard landscaping.
Extremely busy as Christmas Markets were on. Very enjoyable.
Nice place to visit
Nice area but unfortunately homeless and down and outs frequent the area which Manchester City Council encourage.
Nice for a walk around plenty of space and shops around as you it leads into city centre
This is the best place in manchester.
Calm and beautiful atmosphere.
Pleasant city centre open space next to Manchester Town Hall, the Central Library. Busy tram stops with services all around the region. Plenty of nearby cafes, bars and restaurants.
Nice area with great christmas decs up
My favourite place to study, the quite study room is amazing for who is looking for an extremely quiet place with comfortable chairs and good lighting. But couldn’t find anywhere to plug my laptop in the study hall, but to be honest I didn’t ask if there is any, therefore if you are planning to study in the quite room, ask about where to charge your device if needed, other than that an amazing place that I’ll always keep going to.
Its a pulsating hub around the tram system . . .The beating heart of the tram spitting out people along there journeys ' branching off in all directions .THEN A MONOLOGUE OF
CULTURES STREWN AROUND BANTER ABOUND . . . A CULTURAL POUTING SPHERE . . .
Pop into the 1st floor of the library, just for a look. It is spectacular.(look up)
The link to the town hall extension from the library on the ground is also worth a look. Ryder architecture I believe (again, look up)
Great day. The Pankhurst memorial was glowing. It's great that it's a level access monument. Be aware the accessible bathroom at library and town hall shut on this Sunday tho.
It is what it is... but clean. Nice library there...not normal one so worth going in.
Just been back to my home town to celebrate a big 0 birthday with my family. We went shopping in the Arndale Centre and then a reminiscent walk around Manchester cenre. We went to St Peters Square and there was a LGBT+ gathering. We sat on the wall and watched the world and trams go by. Lovely experience.
Very useful tram stop ideal place to catch a tram into the city centre for people with walking different plus places out off the city plus buses excellent services
Right outside Manchester's Central Library. In the evening hours it offers quiet seclusion whilst also benefiting from being a very public, open and safe area to relax and unwind. Located opposite a tram station makes it very easy to travel to and away from.
Got the tram from Rochdale to Manchester then off to London via National Express
We were there to assist at the king proclamation a d we didn't visit the inside space of the building.
Amazing place with a lot of transportation choices and restaurants
It's a lovely open air space with frequent trams around the city . Plenty of places to eat and drink nearby
Impressive vista, with the metro trams, and tall buildings in the backdrop. The central library, a 1930's rotunda domed structure, with columned portico entrance is a fine building perfectly positioned to the foreground. As there is no definate road for traffic, it is pedestrian friendly - but look both ways for the trams coming!
Lovely part of Manchester to just sit and chill and watch the world go by.
Beautiful place and elegant view
Here is where u take a tram to go anywhere they go as all of the lines converge here.
Improved alot nice trees, only bad point is the mass of young adults roller blading and bicycle gangs
A versatile square next to the tram stop, it can be decorated for any event or festivities and a short walk to some amazing bars, restaurants and theatre venues. It could easily compete with some of Europe’s finest plazas/ piazzas.
Take in some history on your visit too with the town hall/ Albert Square a short walk away and the nearby site of the Peterloo Massacre.
Enjoying able my new year relaxing in this arena.
Christmas has arrived! The lights are great!
Fantastic during the Xmas markets just for the giant santa.
Nice place to relax and catch Trams.
I was only passing through, but saw that there was a father Christmas in front of the library, a rather fine building, the square is a very busy place now, with the tram system having extended to the Trafford Centre, much better than the bus, literally depositing one at the door to selfridges, excellent.
I walked 30000 steps in this city, and it was worth it. I saw very nice architectural buildings.
Apart of missing offlicense shop, amazing restaurant and wonderfull squer
such a cool and historical place.
Lots of nice places too eat nearby
Cool square, big, but you have to be careful trams run often
Was with my church celebrating the Italian walks. I stopped at st Peter's square for a half hour break and it was buzzing with people enjoyed this
People seem to love the Manchester Christmas Markets, very bustling and crowds enjoying the Stalls, foods and drinks.... Hundreds of people crowding around. Even wearing my Facebook I chose another road around the crowds to Cross Street.
Looks good as always. Light up for Christmas right now
Very nice food and friendly staff
Its beautiful.. and wonderfully quiet!!
A mindful area with lot of activities going always, with lots of bus stops and tram stations, and stacked with good restaurants and shopping places
A public space done well. Much better than Piccadilly Gardens. Plenty of seating, lots of life, nice buildings to look at and a couple of war memorials.
St Peters Square is a nice place to sit and watch the world go by, would like to see some more colours ie flowers in this vast space.
Never actually been in the library, just walked passed and sat in the little garden section. Can be peaceful but also it can be rowdy when there's exhibitions on outside the library.
Took part in a trail around Manchester and there was a Scottish bagpipe band on aswell
Lovely place.love the library next to it.
Very busy but festive
Lovely place to sit in the sun and watch the world go by. The area is nice and clean and as there is no traffic it is nice and quiet, even the teams are not to loud.
There are some nice cafes in the area so you can grab a good cup of coffee and a lunch time snack
A beautiful square with the iconic Town Hall, library theatre and of course the almost regal Midland Hotel overseeing it all. Well worth a visit the architecture is amazing.
Great Place to visit when touring Manchester. It is always kept clean including the floors, monuments and buildings. The square has great restaurants surrounding it and is a calm environment except from the tram passing through it. Ive took a couple photos as it's nice to have on your device.
Got off tram there to go to give platelets at Blood donor centre, looks good out side🤔👍
Trams really excellent and staff are very helpful towards disabled people
Very lively square metrolink junction for a lot of places including the airport take you to the library midland hotel and the townhall. You can see stream of university students going from the university to Piccadilly and market Street and the Arndale to do their shopping and especially when they first start carry their bought items for their accommodations. It is well known and popular square in Manchester. Also it has the statue for Emmeline Pankhurst, UK Suffragette
BEST PLACE GREGGS CAFE STARBUCKS LOCATED JUST BEHIND BIGGEST CENTRAL PICCADILLY GARDENS MCR LIBRARY INSIDE IS A MUSIC LIBRARY AS WELL .IT6S NEAR METROLINK TRAM STATION AS WELL. I LOVE THIS PLACE ALOT.I LOVED MEXICAN DANCE FOR CHILDREN I ATTENDED THERE RECENTLY .THANKS
So many places to visit and so many things to find.
Excellent pedestrian friendly place
Took a bike ride from Droylsden to here yesterday and visited the Cenotaph, then had a sit down and took in the brilliant architecture, Central Library, Town Hall, Midland Hotel etc, finished off a leisurely ride around a very quiet city centre... a nice way to spend a lockdown day :)
It has lots of places to sit and watch the world go by if the weather is good.
A good tram stop especially when the trains are on strike
Place for relax and event
Going too watch Manchester United Vs real sociedad
Aside Victoria Manchester, St Peter is another great place of relaxation, connecting trams.
Beautiful Square in the center of Manchester
Great place to visit. Central Library is incredible, lovely statue of Emmeline pankhurst, brilliant tram connections
Very clean and great Tram services
Just passing through the square, nice day so people eating in many of the food places, and are own cenotaph for our heroes, tram stop here as well taking you out of the city and also both railway stations,
Really lovely place with a brilliant tram interchange
It's not a holiday spot. But nice building and surprisingly quiet and clean. But nicer place to have a sandwich than piccadilly with the bag heads.
It is good but isnt an exact square shape so please be aware of this when visiting so you're not disappointed
Nice and delighted central library is in biz. Too bloody crowded though. A bit of a dumbo zone really.
Xmas lights with grandson were great
Pass through all the time, great place to just stop and look around
It's more oblong than square
Went to Tram stop and found it not too busy, plenty of ticket machines and also plenty machines for contactless travel
It's nice to spend some time just to watch the birds and the hustle bustle of the city..
Went to St.peyer s Square for the remembrance day service. Very good turn out, however the refurb of town hall minimised the march past.
Very good rain, I was able to wash my clothes for free by wearing them around saint peters square.
A really good atmosphere, although very busy. Trams are overcrowded, a trifle busy. The wild art exhibition is good
I’ve been there in April 2017 - I must say I found it absolutely wonderful! Nice and spacious square, with a balanced and “fresh” architectural composition and with beautifully integrated white concrete Cobogós elements used as facade bríse-soléis.
Beautiful cityscape.
Excellent for getting a tram to anywhere on the system, visually very pleasant
Nice place to relax and watch the world go by, also some good coffee shops and restaurants very close.
Excellent 👌 recommend only morning time on public late night taxi crescent cars magnum cars
On a full moon night 🌕👌🏼🇱🇰🏴
Beautiful part of Manchester, blends with great stile the old and the new.
Seconds away from Manchester Library
Popular place for protest including this #BlackLivesMatter event. Also the library entrance is here which is worth a visit itself.
Very spacious and ideal for relaxing on the provided seating. You are at the heart of everything and close Cross Street and Piccadilly
Lovely big piatza...seating areas...history with Emily Pankhurst statue. ...eatrys around and decorated for Christmas
St Peter Square is one of the main places joining the whole city together. It allows means of travel to nearly every direction of the city. Moreover, it's near to my university . I love this place.💖
Great place to get transport around the city
Great resting place
Nice Christmas decorations and around is the Christmas market with delicious mulled wine.
Was a busy square as expected
Great space with fabulous architecture and lovely places to eat nearby.
Big space in the middle of Manchester. Pretty buildings. Has a tram stop. Not sure what else to say about it.
Okay but busy at times
Lively and peaceful at the same time. Surprisingly pleasant. Central library is fantastic.
The St. Peter's Square truly has history written all over it. It's a public square in Manchester City centre with many streets connecting. You have the Princess Street on the North and the Peter Street on the South. To the west of the square is Manchester Central library (the round building),Midland Hotel and Manchester Town Hall extension.
The Square is home to many of the city's most important memorials like Manchester Cenotaph, the Emmeline Pankhurst statute, St. Peter's Square Metrolink tram stop (yellow colour) and the Peace Garden. Why is this square important? In 1819, the area around this square was believed to have been the site of the Peterloo Massacre.
The square has since continued to receive significant improvements including the central library. At the Manchester cenotaph, there were some crosses laid on the steps. The statue in the middle looks almost like the Lutyen's Whitehall cenotaph in London. It's flanked by twin obelisks.
The square was the original location of the memorial cross by Temple Moore marking the location of former St. Peter's Church which was later demolished in 1907.
Brilliant place to visit
Loved it and there was many a restaurant to choose from
The BEST spot in Manchester. The first bench in incredible for board slides. The last bench is the perfect manny bad. From the buskers, to the tiny metal cracks in the floor that make for great Chinese nollies, this spot beats all. Only down side is that it's on a slant. But yeah, st Pete's forever.
nice area of Manchester, cenataph, memory area, central library, main Tram stop, Albert Square nearby.
It's a popular tourist attraction. One must visit the square when visiting the UK.
Historically outstanding. Some areas could do with a power washing.
Very accessible. Lots of travel options and lots of sightseeing in this area
After hundred of times just watching this place in movies, I am very glad to visit this place finally. It is so beautiful, huge and historical. Thank you Lord.
Lovely square. Tram stop.
Fell asleep drunk.
Clean and very accessible for the tram and local theatres.

A lovely old square that has evolved well 👏
Lovely pics in a great place. Love the Christmas decorations
What a lovely experience. We saw mexican dance, trams and what a weather. Loved every bit of it.
Amazing place. It's very nice and beautiful
Big square in Manchester. Back of town hall and facing library. Met stop in middle of square. Plenty of public seating if you want to sit around and watch people.
Good central area.
Love this, place there's loads to do and it's got it's own tram stop
Really great statue exhibition at the moment, honouring the hero's of the Pandemic
It's where I get the tram to Piccadilly station. It's bright and always people about.
Nice place to enjoy with friends and family highly recommend it 👍
Lovely scenery, happy time of year, will return
Looks perfect for Christmas.

Very easy access to different locations of Manchester via tram.
Frequently use the tram from here, never been a problem
Fantastic space, good for camara practice
Nice place to sit and have lunch and watch the world go by
Pleasant little area library and couple of restaurants and a busy tram stop.
Great place to sit with a coffee and watch skateboarders, rollerskaters and the occasional saxophonist
Beautiful Square, the Library is a must to visit
Historically important for Manchester as it was here that the peterloo massacre took place in 1819. Now the home of a very busy tram station and the Central Library.
Will be even better when StayCity hotel opens with furniture by JT Ellis!
A nice sunny day sat by the cenotaph and enjoying the mini summer weather .
A good area in town apart from the cop shop lol
The Amazing Station
Perfect stop for metrolink it connects to every other part of the city.. many great spots at the walking distance..
When the town hall reopens there will be more to do
Vibrant, pleasant with trees around, unlike Picc. Gdns
Great historical square in the heart if Manchester
Great place to meet people
An amazing square that isn't geometrically a square go figure?
Ok plenty of trams about to other place to shop

The architecture absolutely amazing
Nice place to sit, with good view. Good place to sleep (if you're homless).
Pick up and drop off for the trams are ideal 👌
very nice to sit and reflect.
Visit once and take photos if you are in Manchester
Spoiled by being the site of an expensive reddy/brown hotel at the south side.
Handy for the tram
Centre of Manchester, place is huge and a hive of activaty, plenty of seating, toilets not far away, with public transport available
A very pleasant part of Manchester
Excellent 😊👌 thanks
Close to the tram, buses, and a variety of eateries.
Because its town hall and the buildings, I use as a refence to meet people, the restaurants shops etc
Sheltered from a storm under the arches but shocked to find rough sleepers.
nice peaceful square in the heart of the city centre
Lovely place to sit and people watch.
Very pretty buildings...especially the library! It is very pretty in summer.
Easily accessible by tram...
Probably the nicest square in Manchester. Modern, open and well thought out.
Nice usually but a lot of construction
Clean, friendly, bars, cafés, amazing buildings 😍😍😍

Its a market place near Piccadilly Station, Manchester. Houses big shopping complexes and good place to relax and shopping.
