Reviews of Sandringham Estate
O. A.
Had a lovely time at Sandringham House & Gardens. Beautiful scenery, we stopped to have a picnic. Had a walk around the gardens and church. Stopped off in the courtyard for ice cream then had a walk around the shop and garden centre and bought a few plants to bring home with us. Such a lovely day out would highly recommend.
J. H.
Lovely surroundings and dog walks. Dogs allowed in the park cafe and shop but not in the gardens or house. Still a great place to go on a sunny day. The children's playground is amazing. Parking is reasonably priced and plenty of room.
S. D.
For £23pp there is precious little extra to see compared to free to access area. Only a few rooms in the ground floor are accessible to visitors. Grounds seemed a little parched probably due to the drought. Restaurant is great but lacking in options.

Lovely peaceful tranquility. Its always a beautiful escape when you enter the long walk don't miss the graves of their hunting dogs , you will find it on the right hand wall after you walked a little bit , not many people spot it. Take duck food if you want to feed the ducks at the pond as they are very eager to come see if you brought them sonething
A. B.
A massive area to explore. You can visit and use the public areas of woodland walks, kids play area and dog walking locations & just pay for parking or pay to enter the Sandringham Gardens & House (if open) and parking is included. So a large area to walk around it did not feel crowded especially when taking pictures. House nice to visit and free audio guide available when you walk around. Can also visit the stables which is cafe & small fire museum and the local parish church that is often frequented by Royal family around Christmas time.
J. H.
Great day out giving a fascinating insight into the history of the house following its purchase by Edward VII. Staff were friendly, helpful and well informed both in the house and the gardens. The beautifully maintained gardens are well worth a visit in their own right with a surprise round every corner.
K.
Wonderful visit to what feels like a family home. The house staff are so knowledgeable and an absolute delight to speak with - full of little surprising facts and tidbits. And back at the restaurant, the afternoon tea is perfectly judged with gorgeous amuse bouches and very attentive, good fun staff. Our mouths were very amused. Nice selection of teas which keep coming.
A wonderful afternoon at a very special place.
Thanks for having us!
P. W.
Brilliant place to visit. House was really interesting and fascinating. Gardens and grounds were beautiful to explore. Great adventure playground for the children.
R. L.
A nice place to visit and see the house and grounds. Unfortunately there isn't an awful lot to do as the house is closed to guests. There is a nice tea room for food and a gift shop.
J. C.
Not our first visit but the first time we've been on a Saturday. Rather than being overrun with visitors, there were hardly any people around! We didn't look around the house as we've seen it several times and have to say, it's generally more impressive from the outside. Without wishing to be too cruel to HM on her jubilee year, it comes across as an old lady's house full of tired, gaudy knick-knacks. And you only get to see a handful of rooms anyway. Still, it's a private house and the Queen can set it out how she wants! I admit that it's interesting to see where so many royal Christmas dinners have taken place.
The gardens are a different story, however, packed with fascinating trees, shrubs and flowers, with fantastic colours all around. There are several different areas to explore and a tea room and toilets in one corner.
There's a modest-sized lake with a small grotto/gazebo thing (take care, the path is steep and uneven in places!) which is interesting. The rest of the grounds are fairly flat and there's a level path that's suitable for buggies/wheelchairs. There's also a golf cart type transport service in operation for anyone who needs help getting to and from the house. Most of all, it's a peaceful oasis cut off from the wider Sandringham estate, which can get pretty busy at times, especially around the gift shop and cafe area. As you might expect, there are security cameras all over, so be prepared to bring your biggest smiles, and don't go into areas marked 'private' unless you want life to get interesting very quickly.
One note to Historic Houses members- you still need to pay for parking!
D. M.
Interesting tour of the house, and has some beautiful well kept grounds to explore. Have separately reviewed the stables and play area. The tour of the house itself probably takes around a hour if you listen to all elements of the self guided tour. You can pre-book a slot online which I'd recommend at busy times.
G. 6.
Big forest with lots of paths to explore for free. Good adventure playground with café and take away next door. Worth going inside the wall to walk around the gardens and especially the house. Not your normal historic house, this is where the Royal family spend Christmas and is great to see the personal touches. Very friendly and knowledgeable room guides. Only downside was lack of gluten free options in the stables take away and not much choice in the main café.
S. E.
Our first visit here to the wonderful Sandringham Estate and gardens. It was very tranquil to wander leisurely around the 60 acres plot of gardens. Variety of a 10 minute stroll or a 4 mile walk to suit all abilities. The whole visit was very well organised friendly staff to guide you as needed. We will visit the house on our next visit as we're short of time this weekend . We visited St Mary's Magdalene Church which is so full of history quaint beautiful Church.
R. F.
Platinum jubilee weekend. Weather wasn't great but still a fantastic day. Live bands were brilliant and hundreds of cars on display from the 60's to the present day.
C. B.
Was a day out experience with Shearings coach holidays. Lovely looking round the house, but it doesn't seem as big as other royal estates. The church was lovely as well. We went to the Stables for coffee and bite to eat. No queue
c. h.
Lovely space for children. An excellent kids play area. We walked around the gardens of the estate for £12 each. Kids are free. The guided tour of the estate house had a few hours wait and to be honest, walking around the gardens was just as fun. Parking is free if you walk around the gardens too.
S. J.
Very nice place, lovely place to take a dog for a long walk.
I'm a fan of the Dog Waste Stick and Flick, to not pick up after the dog but just flick it into a bush for it be a good compost for the plants 😁
P. H.
Uncomfortable place for a republican but I wasn't arrested ha ha ! and still enjoyed the historic aspects of the house, although the tour was limited to a small number of rooms. Very helpful staff and an informative audio tour if required. Beautiful gardens at the rear with a sizeable lake too. Busy courtyard area near the car park with shop, garden centre and cafe.
P. H.
Sandringham House is not a large palace or stately home more of a private residence for the Queen and this is made clear as you walk through it. It has a homely manner to it and there are many interesting objects to see
There is a free audio guide which I would recommend listening to as you walk through the rooms and the guides that were located in each room were more than happy to answer questions .
The grounds are certainly worth exploring too. Not formal gardens but a picturesque lake is well worth walking around so that you can take in views of the house.
N. J.
Fantastic evening at Luminate. Great weather was on our side too! Really lovely atmosphere and displays, would highly recommend! A great way to get into the festive spirit.
R. S.
Walked the dogs through the forested country park. Paths accessible enough for my Moms mobility scooter so she was able to enjoy the dogs off lead. Good coffee and cake at the café. Gift shop scary expensive.
B. C.
Went to see the magical Christmas lights. Fantastic. Pleasant helpful staff. We even got in earlier than our slot was booked for. The beautiful make a wish area was stunning and very moving. Well done to all
C. P.
A lovely walk through the woods! We took the yellow route which was a little longer for those who don’t want to walk as far there is the blue route too! The playground was amazing too! Fun for all the family!
J. J.
We didn't visit the house on this occasion but did have breakfast in the restaurant. The surroundings are very smart, having been revamped since our visit over 5 years ago. The restaurant is very relaxed yet stylish and the staff are really accommodating. The food was wonderful but the best part, for me, was the delicious tea. Served from beautiful crockery and made with loose leaves, the English breakfast tea is amazing. I would definitely recommend the restaurant over the self service cafe area. Think I'll go for afternoon tea next time - that looked delicious too!
R. H.
Was surprised that it is a place where her majesty spends time relaxing here - can only be pleasant memories! Would recommend a visit, ask questions of the knowledgeable guides. The grounds, lakes, etc very easy on the eye! Definitely worth going again!
S. C.
Excellent time. Very friendly and professional staff and guides. Well maintained and clean. Same not more rooms open to the public
W. S.
Great especially for your children and grandchildren. Fabulous play area. Lovely walk's. Nice shop and restaurant and ice-cream parlour also selling plants
An all round fun day
G. S.
Very quiet during our stay, we walked 🚶♂️ 😒 through the vast estate only to find that the house was inaccessible at this time? It would have been nice to know before our walk but non the less a great place, after all if its good enough for her Majesty it's good enough for 🇺🇸 us.
C. L.
Lovely estate grounds. Spoke to an employee at the entrance who was very abrupt. We had brought Ebikes to ride on a cycle trail we'd heard about but he said it didn't exist and said there is only roads through which cars are on. He was wrong as we found the red cycle trail. Staff should know about what's there!!
J. P.
Beautiful and historic house and gardens. Lovely walks in woodlands. Sandringham employees and guides were so helpful, friendly, happy and welcoming. It's a wonderful day out for all the family.
h. g.
Beautiful home and gardens. Disappointing amount of house available to see. Really need to visit on a dry day otherwise you'd be struggling to fill an hour in. Lack of information provided, expected to learn about the history and current uses of the estate and house but no information boards etc anywhere. Worth visiting if passing by but not worth a special visit. Probably best value to just pay for parking and visit the parklands and play area if you have young children.
E.
Fabulous play area for the children, very natural environment and lots of walking potential. A whole day could easily be spent here, exploring the house, gardens, grounds and estate offerings.
The shop is well stocked with lots of souvenirs and a wide range of items to suit all purses.
The restaurant offered a good selection at very reasonable prices and although we had a long wait for food,we were advised of this before being seated so had the option. Drinks came quickly and all the options were tasty and well-cooked and presented.
Everywhere was clean and well kept with plenty of staff on hand.
Definitely making efforts to be sustainable and environmentally conscious, which was good to see and we will be back for sure.
C. W.
Visited the shop and grounds, we were thinking of paying to go into the house and gardens however didn't on this occasion. Stunning place well worth a visit. We just paid for parking which you do on exit and is contactless
I. S.
A lovely day out in a very well run estate. Staff very well informed, efficient and helpful. Shows how the Royal family live out of the limelight.
M. M. (.
Such a lovely place hidden in Norfolk! The weather was fantastic. We went there with our dog in April the day after our wedding anniversary. With the dog we had access to the church, the terrace cafe, the shop, and the woods. Unfortunately, the restaurant is not dog friendly.
There is an adventure play area for children with free access.
There is a car park with an automated number plate recognition (ANPR) system, so you don't need a ticket but you are required to enter your vehicle registration number at the end of your stay and pay at machine with card or cash.
PS: Before leaving, don't forget to eat the Sandringham Royal Estate ice cream, it is delicious!
J. D.
It's lovely to get a peak into Her Majesty's Christmas home but what we have access to is very limited. The gardens aren't as pretty as I thought they were. We were worried that we were late but please be mindful that you can get in at any time as long as you go in on the day of the ticket. There isn't food available inside the estate, although there are toilets.
J. F.
Wonderful day at Sandringham. The house tour with audio was brilliant and the guides very knowledgeable and helpful. Very well presented afternoon tea.
M. W.
Absolutely brilliant!! Great adventure playground. Assessable to all. Very friendly staff. Great food. Great service
w. t.
Very beautiful, lovely self led tour with audio. Grounds are awesome and new children's playground. You can cy le to grounds too.
R. M.
Disappointed that you cannot see the house. Couldn't get around the garden or church at this time off year. Really enjoyed the Luminate experience through the woods. Coffee, shop, toilets also available near the car park.
Coming back in May to see rhodedendrons in flower.
J. P.
I've visited Sandringham a few times over the years we timed it well this year we had beautiful sun and were greeted by the rotary club and air ambulance for an Easter egg hunt in the grounds really well planned out route and the activeties were ace once completed the kids handed there filled hunt sheets back for chocolate eggs.
We then stopped for lunch in the busy restaurant served like royalty from the superb workers the tomato soup and freshly baked seeded bread was delicious.
The flower shop had a great and healthy selection of all sorts of shrubs and flowers.
The new park area is perfect alot bigger and better than the last.
A. C.
Had a great time looking around the church, house and gardens.
Entry to the house is at a set time so it's not too crowded. It's fantastic to see a current Royal home.
The whole experience is tasteful with no tacky merchandise or upselling.
The price is great, with 16 year olds and under free.
J. B.
The audio tour for the house is excellent , very informative , such a shame you can't take photos inside as every room is fantastic , but totally understand that its the Queens personal retreat .
The rest of the grounds are lovely to walk around , the coffees that we had at the stables were reasonably priced , a bit disappointed that the stables were just a courtyard and converted to living quarters and not actual stables with horses !!
A. H.
Love place to visit. The lake is especially nice. Tour is great, staff very good. Choose a cool day!
P. C.
Magical trails through woods to centre of estate opened up by ER11 in 1968. Originally purchased from Duchy of Cornwall by Q Victoria's son in 1860's, then Prince of Wales, later King Edward V11. May and early Jube masses of Rhododendron. Don't miss coffee and cake at cafe to reward yourself after your hike! The park is free, apart from car parking, with entrance to St Mary's Church also free of charge, with donations welcome. House itself well worth a visit. On Jubilee weekend lovely Sandringham Afternoon tea available ... needed tickets for this.
S. B.
Absolutely stunning house and gardens. We loved it so much we joined the annual membership which is also a very reasonable price. This is a must visit.
M. P.
The most magical place to be this time of year, my husband is now a believer in Fairies - the toasted mallows and mulled wine were 😋😋😋 - A definite must see, for adults as well as the little ones - we really loved the whole adventure - the fun fair was small but wonderful - great great great - definitely going again hopefully with our grandchildren and great grandchildren- loved it 🙂🙂🙂🙂👍🏼👍🏼
S. D. B.
Royal Palace. Beautiful gardens and a very nice place to visit. Also there is camping facilities on the estates grounds
J. D. (.
The house and garden tour are well worth doing. The audio guide was very good as were the staff on hand in the rooms. The reason for four stars is partly due to the lack of signage around the grounds, e.g. way to Alexander's Nest, the way out, picnic areas etc. I know it's the Queen's private residence and I am very pleased we have been allowed a glimpse inside their home etc., so perhaps a better guide leaflet is needed that informs visitors of directions and what is where, or what each statue is (golden Buddha etc.) rather than having to have labels on the items in the gardens. Signage to the viewpoint near The Folly would have been helpful too.
The courtyard area works well and offers a good selection of things to buy - food, drink, gifts etc. I did feel the prices in the shop were high - £5-£7 for a bar of chocolate, £5 for a wooden spoon, £5 for a small jar of chutney, £40 for a rose scented candle is expensive (in my opinion). I'm sure more would be sold if the prices were more in reach of the many rather than the few. Sandringham is one place I've always wanted to visit so can be ticked off my bucket list and it is worth doing at least once.
J. A.
As ever - a great walking venue with super autumn colours at this time of the year. Improvements to the play area for children were busy. Parking rules have changed and exits have barriers to ensure new parking fees are paid.
J.
I went to Illuminate at the Sandringham Estate with friends, it was a dry evening but cold. It took us an hour and 15 minutes to walk around the display, through the walk the trees were lit with different colours, with an area of fairies with fairy doors on the trees and holographic fairies in cages hung from branches. There was a "Make a Wish" area where people could put wishes on brown tags and hang them around the display. There were some amazing light displays set to great music, the music theme was running through the whole display. There was a stop half way with hot drinks and snacks including toasting marshmallows, at the start/finish there was a small fair with a range of drink and food stalls.
D. C.
A lovely place to visit. We didn't visit the house, just the playground and gardens. It was beautiful and well worth a visit.
D. C.
Beautiful home and grounds. Wonderful place for a picnic and a day out with friends and family.
A. T.
Brilliant day out !! Lots to see, was great to be inside rooms that the Royals still use today.. dont rush thru the house tho, take your time & listen to all the info thats offerred by the personal headset & screen they give you
B. (.
Lovely Royal home.. superb surroundings, such as the Royal Train Station at Wolferton, The Royal.Stables, and the marsh at Dersingham Bog!
Shame Harry Windsor and his chums can (apparently) get away with shooting protected bird species because it's off limits to the relevant authorities...
Grrrrrr...
k.
The gardens are beautiful, we were lucky to get great weather which showed the camelia and magnolia off.
Parking would have been expensive but included with garden tickets
D. H.
Parking is free if you book a tour of the house and gardens. The cost if that was £20 per adult. No concessions rate and slots had to be booked online in advance through the venue website.
The gardens are beautiful and tastefully set out.
The house tour was quite short however covering only 10 rooms and corridors of the ground floor of the house.
On the day we visited it was raining. We were very surprised that the indoor seated cafeteria was closed. There was only sandwiches and snacks and takeaway hot drinks available. Outdoor seating was restricted to benches in the park and a few tables nearby under a grape vine pagoda. Yes we were cold and wet...
H. S.
Lovely place to walk around the woodlands area with the dog, very clean and tidy with a couple of good trails to follow.
The food and drink is expensive but I guess you expect that for a place like this. Plenty of green spaces to take a picnic instead.
2 scones, jam & cream, a tea and a filter coffee was £14 to give you an idea.
There's a little gift shop. The area selling plants is a hidden gem, good prices and lots of choice.
Dogs not permitted in the gardens/house area so can't review that part.
D. S.
Absolutely fantastic visit, staff went out of their way to process our entry via (web) problem. Shame no visit around bedrooms.
M. M.
Lovely evening but not very Christmassy. It rained during the drive from Norwich but when we got there it had stopped. Glad I went but it didn't have a very Christmas-feel to it. The trail was very damp and muddy (boots needed) and it was so cold! Buggies a little hard to push through the mud path.
Lots of effort had gone into the event, staff were very friendly and helpful.
Half way round you can buy marshmallows (£2.50 for 2 large ones) to toast on the fire or some mulled wine (pay via card or cash).
The mile walk took about 1 hour 10 mins. The reward was the rides but my toddler was too small for them - even the horses on the merry go round. Tokens were £10 for 10 but the rides took 3 tokens each. I gave my spare token to another mum.
Next year I'll go to Thursford as it is the same price.
M. I.
The grounds of Sandringham were fantastic and very well kept it was so peaceful. The little church was beautiful and the staff where very friendly and helpful
N. B.
What a beautiful spot. Gorgeous grounds, with a beautiful church to visit. Plus picnic area.Lovely coffee shop. Great gift shop. Definitely worth a visit.
J. F.
A fantastic Day out. Photos are not allowed inside. Garden and lake is so beautiful. Dont forget to visit the small church which British Royals still goes.
M. B.
Absolutely beautiful place. All we did was went for a walk and visited the church. As you can imagine very well maintained.
R. E.
Had a great walk around gardens/Estate. Absolutely beautiful place to visit. Picked up a couple of plants from the shop. Enjoyed sandwiches and a coffee from cafe outside in the sun
E. W.
Lovely place to visit. Great walks, beautiful scenery. Visit the church, its stunning!
j. e.
Such a beautiful day out. The grounds are so beautiful and relaxing. We was lucky to have such gorgeous weather.
M. N. A. B.
Beautiful grounds, went for the yearly craft fair, and wood carving competition.
Great day out.
P. Y.
A slightly surreal visit during Covid though one day after "freedom Monday". People very quiet and most like us very careful to wear masks we're appropriate. Grounds were beautifully kept and not too big to not see all public accessible areas. The house was slightly disappointing as though very grand on what you did see which was about half of the downstairs only. History in the use of building in more modern times is not reflected much at all and seems to dwindle away following the death of the Queen Mother. Emphasis very much on the Edwardian period. The staff were delightful and very friendly and good at their jobs. Eating was an expensive affair and only snacks, sandwiches, drinks etc available and the restaurant is entirely given over to people who had reservations for afternoon tea. To sit down they had a compact courtyard outside with about 12 tables in. So little chance of a seat generally which for some older folk was proving to be a challenge. If possible take a picnic and chairs as the grounds are beautiful. So in all worth a visit but probably once only.
M. Ū.
When i've visited this wonderful place. I've been at Xmas Luminate trail event at 2021. I could honestly say this that this event it's just wow... it's trully a magical event with all kinds of xmas lights all around that place. And believe me it's kinda hard to get me surprised since I've been in a quite a lot of different places all around UK. Tickets a bit pricey but worth it in my opinion. You should bring your family members and friends it won't let you down. I Highly recommending this to visit!
S. G.
Such a beautiful estate and so much history and links to our Queen and her family
G. W.
Just a quick trip to the visitor centre which was well worth the visit. Easy parking and geat for a meal out.
S. B.
Beautiful place wonderful play equipment for children huge woods to explore.
Really lovely place to visit makes a perfect day out not far from Hunstanton seaside
P. M.
Spectacular place, bridging the past and present of the Royal Family. It does appeal to one's emotions and imagination as you see where the Queen and family meet and spend their Christmas. The house tour is self guided with an audio guide and takes only about 30-40 minutes, you can also ask questions to the room guides who are very knowledgable. No pictures inside unfortunately. You can also see the gardens and walk around the estate, the you need at least 2 hours altogether to have a quick look around, half a day or more recommended. The parking, toilets and other facilities is on the other side of the access road, you will get your license plate scanned and have to pay on exit, however if you buy house or house+gardens entry then it's included but make sure you register your car's plate at the ticket office. Best book your visit online but you can also try to buy tickets on the spot. Oh and don't miss the church, just past the main estate entrance. Guaranteed to be a charming visit overall!
M. M.
Estate is quite nice. You get to see about half of the ground floor, including a number of regularly-used rooms when the royal family is staying there. Grounds are nice for a quick walk and the playground kept the kids entertained for a good bit.
J. C.
A couple of great longer distance walks of 3 miles with lots of shorter variances. Nice flat paved areas and woodland paths. Great toilets and other facilities here. Lots of parking but not free.
D. H.
Our visit focused on the ice cream and the playground, and both were fantastic. The ice cream was delicious - they had a basic set of 4 flavours, one of them a vegan option. You can get a come, a cup, or my new favourite option, an edible cup. Absolutely brilliant. You get to eat it like a cone, but less drips. No waste. They tried to hand me a wooden spoon, but it is not needed with the edible cup. Just treat it like a short, wide flat bottomed ice cream cone.
The playground is a triumph. Lots and lots of challenging climbing, running, balancing for kids of just about any age. Some really cool structures to climb and explore. Nestled back in some lovely shade trees, with benches and tables a plenty for the sedentary adults... And loads of adventures for the more active adults to get involved in.
Much of the structures are in rustic lumber that has been beautifully treated to take the rough edges off, and you get those amazing bits of polished wood around the common hand hold spots. A wonderful playground.
C. N.
Visited here just to walk the grounds and for the kids to go on the adventure playground. All of which can be done for free (with the exception or parking, which we paid £4 for 2 hours).
The kids playground is brilliant, large and well maintained, with things for all ages to go on.
The grounds have marked out paths of different distances to choose, ideal for dog walking, with wooden sculptures along the way.
The only downside we saw was the gift shop and cafe were both expensive and limited to their own produce, which was nice, but again, costly
A. M.
Went to queen's jubilee celebrations here and car show music was good too
v. b.
Wonderful, shame couldn't take photos in the house, but a great day & experience lots to see & do.
S.
Beautiful area to visit, plenty of parking £ 5.00 for 4 hrs, Lovely dog walks, large children's play area, toilets, farm shop, gift shop and of course you can visit Sandringham itself
J. D.
Well worth the entrance fee to see the house and gardens, although you can just pay to park and wander the grounds instead. Couldn't go into the house when we went. But the outside and gardens are lovely. Worth a short walk to the church , where the Queen and Royal family usually go to on Christmas day. Nice cafe and shop too.
J. M.
Was fortunate enough to get tickets for the Katherine Jenkins Outside Concert.
Totally appropriate location.
Totally appropriate singer.
Great occasion 🎵🎶🎶🎵
Returned a couple of days later for the Classic Car Show. Again, a great location. Great occasion.
Looking forward to the Norfolk Hospice, Tapping House Butterflies in the Gardens July and August. Should be amazing 🦋
Downside might be getting away from what is likely to be a very busy car park for such Events.
R. A.
Good to visit and the guides in the house were excellent. The grounds and garden were nice to explore and there is a buggy service for those who have difficulty in walking great distances. There are places in the garden that are frequented by lots of Canada Geese. They leave a lot of mess and so it is best avoided. The souvenir shop had some nice things but most were grossly overpriced so didn't buy much.
B. D.
Having lived within an hours journey time for many years it's difficult to understand why it's taken us so long to visit what can only be described as a wonderful place. To experience walking through the same rooms that are used by the Royal Family was just fabulous.
T. R.
Enjoyed cycling through park, even though a bird decided to mark my bag as I was looking at the distant coast from a viewpoint.
Tea rooms a bit expensive. £3.95 for a piece of cake, could make the whole cake for that!
A. D.
Beautiful historic house and garden with connections to current members of the British Royal Family. Extensive grounds, parkland and forest for walks and picnics. A great day out for all the family and very close to the Norfolk coast for some sea air too.
M. S.
Amazing afternoon- did almost all the grounds, the house and the lake- thoroughly enjoyed & loved the free tour guide..
V. C. (.
We went to the flower show. Excellent day out. Got the chance to walk around the estate Gardens and the church.
l. k.
Lovely market here once a month! Well worth the drive to! Loads of food, craft stalls, chainsaw carving, birds etc. Great day out
S. S.
A great place to visit - so much to see and do - house tour well worth the money - easy to find, park and get into.
T.
Didn't go up to the house or gardens as dogs aren't allowed but the area is good for a walk. Sign posts for the blue walk weren't great so we accidentally ended up on the yellow walk. It was a nice walk but further than we intended.
Ice cream from the kiosk was good but it's a shame they don't have doggy ice creams as well.
A. B.
Beautiful place. Play park excellent for little ones.
R. N.
We couldn't get tickets for the property so purchased tickets for the gardens at £12 each. Car park is free if tickets purchased; they will ask for car registration number to be keyed into their system when checking in.
The grounds are large--600 acres--but the full expanse is not open to the public. Using the map provided one can roam around until 4pm. Everyone will have to clear out by 5pm. We had to leave the children's scooters at the entrance. The grounds are well maintained and looked very attractive. Workers we came across were very helpful; one chap told us about locations for great photos. Go on a dry sunny day to truly enjoy the place. One of the most beautiful spots is the lake behind the mansion--make an effort to visit this.
Toilet facilities available at the entrance and within the grounds. There's a coffee shop by the entrance, and a tiny food stall in the grounds. I would give the one inside, the miss.
If you have money and you are so inclined, sign up for afternoon tea at £37 per person. You can majestically sip your tea, nibble the sandwiches and down the prosecco, but of course Her Majesty won't be joining you.😄

We stayed for 6 days at a campsite on the Sandringham Estate. The Estate is beautifully kept. A visit to the house and gardens is well worth the expense. The Courtyard is open to the public. There are toilets and a cafe there. Cream teas can be pre booked in the restaurant (we were there in July before the Covid rules were fully relaxed). There's plenty of enjoyable walks and safe family cycle riding opportunities in the area. Beaches are an easy drive away.
G. S.
Just the most beautiful of places, inside the house and out, thoroughly recommend seeing everything
D. B.
Went to the children's playground and it was amazing! Went with our 20 month old grandson and his parents and he loved it. The range of equipment was suitable for all ages and it was great to see so many families enjoy themselves. Parking was a little confusing as one sign told us to report our details to a ticket office when all we had to do was pay before leaving.
j. m.
Quite limited as to what you can see. The house inside is interesting but the gardens were a bit of a disappointment, with the exception of the planting around the ponds. Alot of parkland with some magnificent trees. The Chapel is worth a visit but was very busy and that was around midday. Overall worth a visit but not as good as some of the other royal residences
J. F.
Walked from the campsite to the Sandringham Estate ...beautiful walk through the Estate woodlands. Expensive to visit the house @ £20 per adult plus £12 to visit the gardens...the teas ; coffee and ice creams were reasonably priced and the church well worth a visit
J. F.
Lovely few hours exploring the gardens, sampling the delights at the stable cafe and taking a tour of the house. All the staff were friendly and welcoming and the audio tour was just right. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.
C. M.
Fabulous morning at this stunning house and grounds. We'll organised, not inexpensive but has to be done once in a lifetime for all Royalists. Especially loved the house, and church. Nice to put a real building to the one on the TV. Highly recommended. Book early and arrive well ahead of your allocated time to visit the house, managed to park in the wooded part of the car park. Nice cool car to come back to.
L. K.
Lovely estate. Interesting set of rooms in the building -- make sure you take advantage of the free audio guide. Knowledgeable friendly staff. Lovely grounds to stroll around.
L. D.
Get there early if you're doing a garden and house tour as the site fills up with families using the grounds and park. We arrived at 9.30 for a 10am tour and it was empty, felt very peaceful! Beautiful things in the giftshop, but you'll need to remortgage. Restaurant has a limited menu, no ploughman's that is pictured on the leaflet, but delicious food and exemplary service! A lovely day out to visit the Queen!
S. W.
Such a fabulous place staff very helpful. My first visit feeling guilty as we only live 45 minutes away. Definitely going back at a different time of year to see colour changes in the trees and plants. Really good value entrance fee.
R. T.
The play park was fantastic, something for all ages. Our boys enjoyed a good few hours exploring all the different areas. We ended the day with an ice cream and a trip to the gift shop. A really lovely afternoon
P. B.
Well marked paths around the park.
Plenty of seating outside the café dogs can run free around the park 😍
H. R.
We had garden tickets and spent a lovely few hours wondering round. Our favourite sections were the lakes where we saw a number of duck and geese species.
There are accessible pathways and the majority of the park is flat and easy to walk.
Parking is free with tickets but chargeable otherwise. The food and drink in the cafe are lovely and well priced.
K. S.
Really well run and interesting. Beautiful house and gardens, must be seen if you’re in the area. Great visitors centre too, with amazing gifts
C. G.
Okay downside grounds, cafe and tea room, ice cream parlour, children’s adventure playground. Sandringham is a great place to visit with the kids. The playground is one of the best equipped you’ll ever see. Parking is quite expensive and they’ve removed all the free parking spaces on the access road. The car park runs off a high tech ticketless number plate recognition system and you pay when you leave.
S. W.
Went for a picnic the grounds were vast and even though it was busy you could easily get a spot away from people .Had a walk to the beautiful church it was really very nice .Went around the gift shop and couldn't resist a plant called Happy days .Lovely place to visit loads to do for kids the playground was amazing
I. R. (.
Very interesting! Well worth a visit. Pleasant Royal Staff providing any answers to questions not covered by the Audio Tour. Easy cycle from C&M site, with a secure Cycle Rack to chain your bikes too!
M. D.
The house is very interesting with knowledgeable guides to welcome you and answer your questions in the various rooms, we managed to be the last people in and had their undivided attention. The audio guide is easy to use and adds to the experience. We visited the church which is beautifully maintained but missed walking through the gardens, we didn't allow enough time!
The staff from the gift shop and ticketing office through to the guides and buggy driver we hitched a lift with within the grounds were helpful and a great asset to the estate. We had a fabulous time.,thank you
K. T.
Pleasant helpful staff. The Church volunteer was a sheer delight to talk about the history. The two young ladies on the gate to go towards the main house were very helpful. Plants for sale were outstandingly healthy in the shop and great value for money cheaper than the National Trust. One negative - A sign needs to go up for directions to The old Stables as unclear to find, Prince Charles.
B. K.
Parking charges are reasonable, large beautiful lawn for picnics (no entry fee). The gift shop sells a range of quality souvenirs, including native plants. Would recommend.
T. K. D.
Such a beautiful place to visit and spend time. The grounds, cafes, gift shops etc are all immaculately well kept. Ice cream, coffee etc all very good. The house is beautiful and worth the tour if you get chance. House tour tickets we thought were a little highly priced but it’s a one off thing you’ll probably never do again so it’s worth it to see the residence and gardens.
Dog & family friendly, plenty of places to sit/relax. God Save The Queen
J. D.
Beautiful place to visit, lots of pathways to walk, lots of birds tweeting and although quite busy didn't feel like it.
A. K.
Great day out, we didn't go into the house it gardens but had a great time. Parking is plentiful with two main car parks and reasonably priced. There is a large and varied outdoor play area which is great for kids of all ages, and a few marked woodland walks all available for free of which the largest was a couple of miles and had some wooden carved statues which kept the kids entertained. The centre has picnic benches, a shop, toilets and a takeaway café/ice cream parlor all of which is very well kept and again very reasonably priced. All in all well worth a visit.
J. G.
You need to be aware that you will only get to see about half a dozen ground floor rooms, and for £23 each and no Gift Aid type free revisits for 12 months as most places do, add in the £4 car park charge and its an expensive couple of hours.
M. J.
Amazing garden and the whole place has a beautiful soul and feeling. Highly recommend to go at least once here. Lots of walking but worth to pay around 12-13£(than the parking is free as well, which would be from £3,50/2hrs) to go through the property, ponds, 🌳trees, flowers beautiful and very nicely organised and kept up for our Royal family and visitors. First time been here staff were very friendly and helpful, tells where to go and given advices. Make sure carry some drink with you or snacks, because inside the garden and house area there is no toilet, bin or drinking facility. There are some benches to sit close to the house which is about 25 min through the garden and short way is 10 minutes. There is sign when entdy to the garden. Enjoy :-)
R. C.
Lots of things to see and do even if you don't pay to go in the house and gardens. Great children's playground with a new water tower that entertained our grandkids the whole time we were there, take a towel if your visiting with younger kids!
J. F.
Easy to find and park, pre book tickets as works out cheaper with the parking then being free. Lovely grounds. Especially on a sunny day.
D. S.
As a staunch republican I can only say how delightful it was to visit and I appreciate the generousity of the family in sharing this much of their private residence with the public.
Go visit, you won't be disappointed. The staff are lovely.
I even found a copy of the complete angler in the bookcase!
It's the only homely great house open to the public.
P. E.
Enjoyable day out. We went as HHA members so only had to pay for parking. I'd feel a bit hard done by if I paid full price but it's certainly a unique and special place to visit.
P. F.
Quite good value. Lots to see & do. Kids play area. House viewing a little limited but very interesting: homely feel despite Royal connections. Church exceptional!
S. R.
We went to the flower show and saw Prince Charles. Wonderful flower arrangements and art/food stalls. Recommend it to people who haven't been here before.
T. G.
Beautiful walks, great day out with kids, lots of things to do and see.
A. L.
Nice and clean green area, plenty of hiking and cycling opportunities. However if you are with the dog they cannot enter into the garden. 26£ to get into the palace, 13£ if you are visiting the garden. Unfortunately we couldn't see any of these because we've been with our dog. The nearest we could make the church was. 4 pounds was the parking which is acceptable.
C. S.
There is a great C&CC site in the woods. Very carefully managed under Covid.
Lots of walks and woods nearby. Apart from the main road the roads are fairly quiet. You can cycle down to the Queens gaff just down the road. Tickets required, but the souvenir place and cages and car parks are outside the venue. The Sandringham grounds are impressive but you don’t get to see too much in the house. But worth a look.
L.
Sandringham Estate kids Adventure Playground has 6 slides, a water feature built into a tower, a zipwire, swings and guaranteed pure adventure for children. Each of the slides vary from the very small to a very big spiral slide for big kids. The childrens park is within walking distance of the cafe, gift and garden shops, toilets, car park and nestled nicely within the grounds of the forest perfect for a ramble in nature.
All of the wood used in the adventure park is sourced from the forest and the sawmill onsite within the estate. It truly is great for kids and completely free (not including parking).
G. S.
Great spot for walks. Plenty of facilities for eating, drinking and snacking. Always a pleasant atmosphere. We didn't visit the house.
K.
Lovely walk around the woods. Bit of a wait for service in the restaurant after being seated but that's ok. Nice food.
Lovely ice cream. Pay for parking now.
D. C.
Went with fa.ily for children to enjoy the play area. Very busy but the children had a great time. Drinks vendor close by. £5 to park.
R. S.
Really interesting with a feel of being lived in and cared for. Very helpful staff with interesting details about the rooms. Beautiful lake and gardens, especially beautiful trees.
P. F.
Loved the gardens and the house tour.
J. H.
Really beautiful estate, lovely peaceful walks even at busy bank holidays. Lots of places to picnic or there's a cafe, also a restaurant selling afternoon teas, but must be pre-booked. The ice-creams from the stall in the courtyard are delicious they were certainly selling very well on the sunny bank holiday. Dogs are allowed in the parkland but not in the formal gardens. Dogs are very well catered for though, water taps for dogs and bottle re-fills are available around the restaurant / gift shop area and dogs on leads are even allowed in the gift shop. Just watch out for the crate of tennis balls on the floor in case your pet helps themselves and adds to your purchases as ours did! 😄
We didn't visit in the house on this occasion but pre-bookable tickets are available online.
S. M.
Car parking for a long period of time expensive. Outside seating wasn't clean. Whilst expensive to shop and eat, the food is very good and unique Royal items can be sourced here.
M. B.
Reasonable Car parking price. Fabulous grounds to stroll or cycle. Admission to HRH Residence is by ticket only, and at set times of the year.Worth doing your homework before setting off. Dogs can be walked around the grounds on a lead.
K. E.
Absolutely beautiful, immaculate, such a wonderful place to vist. Something for everyone, brilliant park for kids, also lovely to have a nice dog walk.
I. G.
Stunning garden wonderful Estate seeing were the Queen stays
D. W.
The grounds are vast and worth going early to appreciate them.
We was disappointed with the house itself from the outside it's an amazing building.
The tour inside consist of four small rooms with only one closed because of Covid.
The whole inside tour can be done in 5/10 minutes even at taking your time.
St Mary Magdelene was open and is a nice church to visit
M. D. R.
Great 80's weekend, Great venue and fantastic bands
A. J.
Stunning park with a fantastic kids playground which my kids loved, nice little souvenir shop and cafe as well. Lovely place to stop for picnic on way to coast
I. M.
I love this place. The grounds are always immaculate and facilties clean and well maintained. Staff are always friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Going back for the firework display later this year.
G. j. W.
Lovely walk, amazing kids play area, amazing shop, unfortunately we didn't book in advance so unable to enter the house, ice cream out of this word worth the price.
J. A.
An overall positive experience but an expensive day out (unless perhaps you’re a royalist and don’t mind paying through the nose! ) House tour was well organised and audio tour was v worthwhile. All staff we encountered were knowledgeable and friendly. It took us about 50 minutes to do the circuit of the 9 rooms and look at the points of interest. You could stay longer if you wanted to. I was disappointed to see spelling mistakes on a sign in the Jubilee display (21th April??!) and also the display about the fire ‘bridgade’! The gardens and stables took us an hour or so to walk round. It is not highly manicured but it’s quiet and spacious with some magnificent tree specimens dotted about. Worth a visit as we were staying nearby but we wouldn’t visit twice.
Y. Y.
Fantastic place, best coffee!
N. S.
Went to the 80's Pop Party in the Park. Really well organised. Great estate. Loads of places to wander around even when there isn't an event.
J. H.
I took my youngest daughter, 29! To visit and she loved it. Sadly we could only get tickets for the gardens, but she at least got to see the beautiful building and gardens. Weather was a bit rubbish but it didn't spoil it for her.
Sadly she couldn't see the church either, but I told her all about it from my visit there.
We will visit again one day.
I love the grounds for walking my dog too.
r. p.
Although the house and gardens weren't open (Covid?) there was plenty to explore in the country park with excellent walks, a new arboretum and adventure playground for the children. The staff in the information centre were very friendly and helpful. A lovely place to visit.
C. T.
It still wasn't fully open when we visited but looks like it would be great. Nice gift shop etc, plus a great kids area. Great for a cycle (it's on national route 1)
s. s.
Great afternoon out, gardens are very nice and quiet, the house is amazing, and all the staff are very friendly and helpful.
J. N.
Disappointed that we couldn't see the gardens separately from the house . Also, very disappointed with the cafe set up. Only when we had been queuing for a while did we see the notice that we had to order and pay somewhere else. Although my husband's tea was ok, my latte didn"t have any froth on the top and very little coffee in it.
z. s.
Wonderful grounds to roam around. Parking is good £7.00 all day and the facilities are a shop cafe toilets and ticket office. Booking only online at present for entry into exhibition, gardens and house. Checkout website online.
P. G.
Such beautiful grounds. The children loved the play area as well as the walk through the blue trail. Was also very clean throughout.
S. B. J.
A must see. The gardens are stunning and the tour of the house is worth it.
D. P.
Beautiful, elegant and relaxing place. Very picturesque, extremely well planned and designed with amazing gardens. It was my first visit here and definitely there will be more, as there is so much things over there to explore. Great place for family day out.
G. H.
Lovely informative staff, even though it was busy, we had a lovely day
P. G.
Privilege to visit. Although you don't get to see many rooms they are fascinating to see.
Beautiful grounds.
Seemingly endless woodlands surrounding.
Heaps of free parking. Catering at the stables was a bit of a let down but the bigger restaurant looks better. Good shop. Museum surprisingly very interesting! Helpful staff. If you want to book an afternoon tea you can only give a minimum of 7 days notice.
Would definitely visit again.
R. W.
Very nice place with stunning forest walks and great cafes, the house tour is only the downstairs rooms and you must turn off your phone. The garden is very nice and also the church is so lovely. The restaurant can be a bit busy but you usually can get quicker service in the coffee shop but less choice, highly recommend the Welsh rarebit
N. Z.
Visited here ONLY to walk around the park grounds with our dogs. Parking was fine, grounds large but nicely set with some simple walks laid out. Not the most ‘exciting’ park grounds to visit, but pleasant enough. The cafe was fairly large & reasonably priced (considering it’s a bit of a tourist trap) & the toilets were clean!
S. L.
Wow wow wow felt privileged to be able to walk around the queen's Gardens and walk so close to the house .a lovely day and wal to wall sunshine.
L. S. (.
Lovely walks and rustic play parks. This is a lovely place to explore. You don’t need to pay, just park up and take a stroll either along one of the designated routes or along your own route through the woodlands. There are amenities; cafe (both indoors and outdoors), shops and facilities. All accessible. An enjoyable few hours.
P. S.
Visited for the first time on Easter Monday. We had a fantastic time at the craft fair what truly talented and amazing people were there. My husband has very limited mobility but due to the amazing support given to disabled people at this Event we had a magical few hours away which was unforgettable. We found it incredible what beautiful art was created out if a block of wood spectacular. The craft stalls were great especially the guy who sold the concrete ornaments we couldn't resist a couple for our garden. The Birds of prey tent and displays were brilliant such beautiful well kept birds. Would recommend a visit and can't wait to come back again, have been told the Christmas Craft Fair is second to none!!!!! Thank you for making the day a happy and memorable one.
O. C.
We arrived at 4pm today (a Sat), so we only had time to see the garden , but it was worth it and we'll be back soon to see the house and the museum. A lovely place with very courteous staff. Make sure you keep a map of the estate close at hand. It's vast and full of private areas.
B. A.
Beautiful gardens to wander in. Thoroughly enjoyed touring the House and the feeling of being in a royal home, without it being stuffy or overly grand.
All the staff were superb
S. V.
Lovely estate and beautiful grounds! It was perfect to visit in Oct due to lack of any crowds and perfect temps! The church is beautiful as well. I really loved seeing all the actual furnishings the royal family uses on my tour of the inside of the home!
J. T.
This campsite location is excellent with lots to do and see locally, however this is via driving. On our visit the toilet snd shower block was closed due to Covid which was quite inconvenient, especially as lots of campsites have kept them open and followed government guidelines.
I. B.
What an amazing place to visit. Everything was excellent. The house, grounds, museum and church were beautifully presented and all members of staff were friendly, polite and extremely knowledgeable. We will definitely come back again and would recommend visiting to everyone. The whole estate is funded by the Queen without any help from the public purse.
J. H.
Visited primarily for Sandringham Flower Show
S. K.
Lovely walk around the grounds.
Stable cafe lovely cuppa and scone.
But would highly recommend taking a picnic especially if you've got kids as there's loads of areas to have beautiful picnic and let kids run around.
Would of liked to have looked upstairs in the house for the views over the gardens plus staircases are usually grand in manor houses but appreciate they're in use.
Plenty of photo opportunities.
Selection of vehicles from early 1900 to now great to see.
Would easily say you could spend all day here, we were there 5.5 hours.
Lovely shop too with great selection of gifts and souvenirs.
Garden centre helpful and lovely selection
C. L.
Of all the places to see in England, this was one of the best surprises of all! Lush grounds, beautiful historic home, fascinating museum, lovely cafe, and well stocked gift shop. Be sure to chat with the guides. They are knowledgeable and eager to share. This is the Queen's home away from home, and it's easy to see why. Photography is not allowed inside the home for security reasons, but you can photograph the grounds and museum. The classic cars alone are worth the trip.
C. A.
It is totally lovely - estate grounds are beautiful - there are lots of super trees and 2 lakes. Only downstairs rooms of the house are open but very enjoyable to see.
D. F.
A truly fabulous place. The house is very interesting and surprisingly homely, if you can see past the grandeur. There are wonderful things to see here. The landscaped gardens are lovely too. The museum has collections of vehicles, but other items relating to countries of the empire. Nice tea shops with lunch options and cakes. Souvenir shop too.
k. w.
The royal retreat was a great day out, free parking and also lots of free trail walks around Sandringham too.Once inside the gardens were Lovely and some nice sculptures on show too.You can't take pics when you're inside but it's certainly nice to see all the family pics when you get inside.
T. C. G.
Beautiful gardens. Well maintained
estate. Must visit it.
A. G.
Absolutely amazing!
The estate is beautiful and full of places to sit and relax.
The house is full of wonders and the staff and audio guide where abreast with knowledge.
The stables and museum was a beautiful look into the old and new with details on the estates development and history as well as vehicles used.
There is a small tea room offering light snacks and drinks as well.
For those who can’t make the walk there is also a shuttle that takes you from the entrance and around the estate.
Towards the church is a children’s play area that takes me back to my childhood, equipped with a zip line, merry go round, monkey bars, bridges, climbing net, swings and much more.
An absolutely great day out whether your on your own, a couple or a family.
M. W.
This is our second visit to this tranquil part of Britain and one of the Royal Estates. It's so beautiful here and there is as much to do and see outside the gates as there inside. It's no wonder this is such a special place where the Royal Family love to spend so much time. The museum houses lots of the cars, including the toy cars used by the Royal Children. The stables include a cafe that has fabulous cakes. The grounds are a real pleasure to walk around, and you can pop into the church where the Queen attends church whenever in residence.
S. R.
Really nice place to visit with the family. I went on a really hot day, bank holiday weekend and expected it to be PACKED. It wasn't... Which made it all the better. I think because of the size of the gardens, it spread all the visitors out and made it a pleasant visit.
Make sure you take time to walking around to see everything - the pond (big fish!), the stables, the Buddha statue.
D. M.
This site is very clean and well maintained, and is a central location for all local tourist spots, you could easily spend a week here and still not visit everything. It is in an idyllic location, with great woods surrounding the park, for walking, the site is dog friendly, and they certainly appreciate the walks.
C. P.
Loved the visit to Sandringham Estate today, the gardens were beautiful, and our visit included visiting Sandringham House, most spectacular! Unfortunately photography is not permitted inside the main house. Highlights included the gardens, the lakes, the church, the coffee shop and tea room, as well as the house of course! See if you can find the Weighing Stool! In the past guests were weighed on arrival, and on departure! A sign of good hospitality was sufficient weight gain!
C. W.
A lot has been done here since last year, new signs, less litter, new path layouts. You now have to pay to park but it's not extortionate & well worth it. Beautiful woodland
O. C.
The house and gardens were amazing, well kept with very knowledgeable staff talking about all aspects of Sandringham. Plenty of walks to do outside of the paid area as well, with free parking. However I did expect a little more for the price of entry.
M. R.
We visited Sandringham for a little walk around as somewhere a little different than our usual haunts. I was pleasantly surprised to see so much free parking on offer and if you haven't got a lot to spend there's a lot of places to walk without having to buy anything. We will be returning to walk around the posh bit behind the wall and gate at some point. The gift shop is very expensive but it's more geared towards tourists who might not visit again than it is local people just having a browse. Even though it was very busy when we visited it was easy to get away from the crowds if desired and there's a beautiful church/Chapel on the grounds which has to be seen.
D. L.
Both myself and my wife obtained some discount tickets for the house, gardens, and museum. We visited on a Friday morning, and arrived to a pretty empty car park, so no issues parking (which is free)
We grabbed our tickets and went off for a walk around the gardens. Given the time of year (early September) there weren't a great deal of flowers remaining, but some were still in bloom, so it was a very pleasant walk round the large grounds. We both agreed a visit in Spring/Summer would be better though.
We then went on to Sandringham House itself, and while it is a very nice stately building, we left very underwhelmed, mainly due to the fact that we walked through the entire place in approx 10 minutes! We genuinely thought we'd missed some if it by mistake, but it was confirmed by the person in front of us when they got to the end and asked "was that it" to the staff member, and then promptly asked if he could "go around again to get his money's worth" :)
The museum left us with the same feeling, although nice to see, you're around in less than 15 minutes!
We paid £9 each for entry that day, a lot less than full price, and for what we paid you could say it was OK, but if you pay full price, I fell you'd not be very impressed.
I must admit though, if it were a nice summers day we would have spent more time around the gardens and also the public park next to the grounds.
W. R. (.
Pretty estate with some nice gardens. Closed when the queen is visiting. There is a nice little sandwich shop inside, and a museum showing the royal family’s car history. Probably about half a day if you want to see everything.
T. W.
It's the Queen's Norfolk pad, though she rarely sees the place in the blistering summers we're going to be getting more of. £17 to see some of the lovely rooms, including the airy sitting room, dining room and music room which overlook the gardens to the rear. Other than an armoury corridor and a rather tired ballroom that's as much as you see of the house. The grounds are stunning though, with the lake and rock gardens, if you didn't want to pay for the house admission you'd still have a good day out.
J. W.
It was a lovely place. I wish we could have seen more rooms. I would have liked more history of where the Queen played and what she played with. This would of been easier for the children to relate to how it was for her growing up. The gardens where lovely.
I. S.
Private Queen house. Iconic place with long History. Actual building and park absolutely stunning. Worth coming amd enjoying.
J.
A lovely place to visit, although, compared to a stately home like Hatfield house you don't get to see much of the place when you go inside. However the converted stable which now serves as a small museum housing all the cars is really good. A beautifully kept garden provides one route to walk through on the way to the House and the grounds are great to walk around and let the kids burn of excess energy. There's also a nice café and shop.
D. P.
How privileged we felt to visit the Queen's private Sandringham House/Estate... To be in the Queen's dining room, and see where she puts her Christmas tree.. All superb... Wonderful gardens, walks, the lake and a visit to the little Church. It was lovely to look round the museum and have afternoon tea in the stable cafe..
s. h.
Lovely trails through the woods. Maintained beautifully. Kiosk queue for drinks & ice creams takes a while to move at busy times. Have to pay to enter gardens where you can see the house.
J. S.
What a really great place to visit, unfortunately the house was closed when we visited but the grounds, woods and the main walk up are superb
M. N.
The private tour of the grounds and house are the best way to see the estate and it's great value for what you experience. Every member of the team, from the booking office, the ladies taking you around the grounds in buggies, those showing you the house and lastly, those in the tea room and gift shop are all excellent. A wonderful day out and experience.
K. F.
Woodland walks suitable for dog walks or a pleasant stroll.
Play area suitable for children of all ages.
t. f.
Visited the church on the estate. Always watched the Royals at Christmas arriving but never been inside. It's as lovely as I thought it would be.
Around the grounds families were having picnics or visiting the café.
The whole site is dog friendly and the garden centre behind the gift shop has an excellent selection of healthy plants.
A great visit destination.
S. W. (. h.
Beautiful and wonderfully kept grounds, part of the Queen's estate. Lots to do from children's playground, grounds, woods, walks, gift shop and cafe to mention some. Car parking is reasonable and free for the first 30 minutes.
E. S.
Great day out, lovely trails to walk along, new play area is fantastic! Also very tasty hot chocolate ☕️
H. R.
Large park area to walk around. We went into the garden... Alexandra's nest is a must see... If you can find it! Nice picnic area with tables, good amenities, friendly staff. Ample parking.
A. R.
Amazing grounds with clean facilities and a really good adventure playground for the children. It is disappointing that you can no longer park for free and I think £7.00 for the short time I was there was quite expensive. At this difficult time if I hadn't had to pay for car parking, I would have probably spent more on ice cream and drinks.
G. a. B. K.
Luminate is a beautiful Christmas experience. Well sign posted, wide walk ways and good Covid precautions. Activities along the way for those who want to take part.
R. M.
A lovely estate, couple of walking routes, we walked the yellow route and it was nice, about 1 hour and half circular. Plenty of green space to sit for picnics. We wandered into an open field and managed to get a picture of the house and church, only to discover the field was private. All the money the royals have and they attached the world's smallest private sign to the gate that even when we were told we should not be in this field because it was private we still could not see the sign on first attempt 🤦♂️😃. Christmas gift idea for her majesty if one of the royals read this 🤣. There is a reason I mention this as if we had not walked into this field then there would of been no way to see the house so full view of the stunning church, which you want to be able to see if you visit, guess this is where you then buy a ticket.
P. K.
What a lovely place, house and grounds. Gardens are so well kept and peaceful. Lots to take in when going round the house, audible head phones were really good and easy to use. No wonder Her Majesty likes it here.
S. R.
Lovely area that has walks, play areas for the little ones and a cafe and shop that has stuff for all ages! The area is big and open and had lots of shade with the trees, in fact during some recent heatwaves, Sandringham was a really good choice to go and get cool! Hey, if the Queen likes this place then it's got to be ok!
R. G.
Didn't visit the house but enjoyed walking the dog in the estate. Stayed on the caravan site in the grounds.
R. A.
A perfect day out!
Snacks etc very reasonably priced. Didn't have the afternoon tea though
M. C.
We had such a magical evening at luminate. I'm so glad we managed to get tickets! It's perfect for any age.
J. F.
Visited the estate after walking the beach at Old Hunstanton. Parking was easy, charges reasonable and easy to make. Had snacks and coffees at visitor centre, shopped and bought at garden centre and then walked the dogs through the woods. So peaceful and unwinding, perfect preparation for 100 mile drive home. Would not hesitate visiting again.
R.
One of my favourite places to visit, so beautiful
H. R.
Luminate:- A bit 'samey' through the walk with little variety. It was pretty but really more for kids. No lazer lights and I found the repeated 'piped' music a bit tiresome. It needed a bit more imagination really. Mulled wine was 😊 good!
A. W.
Good organised and lovely walking route of luminate lights decorated.
S. W.
Beautiful day, the house was very interesting and the staff knowledgeable and extremely polite.
A. G.
We recently went to Sandringham for the first time. As we were on a limited time frame we didn't pay to go into the house and gardens but would definitely do this next time. For our visit we decided to explore the Royal Park which included an extensive woodland with 3 walking trails clearly marked with distances so you can choose which is best for you. We did the shorter trail (2 miles) it was full of beautiful plants and trees with large wooden sculptures along the way which the kids loved! We also spent almost 3 hours on the huge adventure playground!! Zip lines, rope bridges, climbing walls, sand pulleys, water works and a huge snake swing are all built into beautiful wooden sculptures. Our children aged 3, 5 and 9 all loved it and were equally entertained for the duration! They would have stayed longer if we hadn't have had to go.
Parking is a little pricey (around£10ish for 6 hours) but is worth it as you can take your own picnic into the park. There are plenty of picnic benches inside and outside of the children's play area including some that are under a large canopy for shelter from the elements. Entrance to the house and gardens are standard kind of price for all the stately home kind of attractions but you could easily whittle away a day in the Royal Park which is free! The cafe is expensive; a sandwich, bag of crisps and a pink lemonade was about £10. Nice for a treat but there's nothing to sat you have to eat there, it's fine to bring a picnic :)
It really was a great day out. We live about 90 mins away but will be making the journey again over summer. Its beautiful, peaceful and fun for kids too. What's not to like!? :)
E. J.
Beautiful estate. Next time we'll go without the dog as we were not allowed through to the gardens with a dog.
K. L.
A lovely visit to the Queen's winter home. The grounds are beautiful and worth a visit.
You can only visit a portion of the house and they have a strict policy on no photos inside.
The audioguide they have here is probably the best I've ever used. It has a touch screen and makes it really easy to follow along. I was really impressed with it.
The main reason why I gave 4 stars is I felt it was a little overpriced. £17 for one adult!
H. S.
Nice estate for a walk in woods, great for dogs and kids. Couldn't resist going for the classic car show over the Queen's Jubilee.
I can understand why the estate is a favourite of the royals but a pity they are charging for car parking.
K. S.
Absolutely fantastic! Everyone should visit Sandringham as you get an insight into the Queens personal life and her home, it's a beautifully large estate with gorgeous gardens and a museum and stables cafe. For a truly family feel, a visit to Sandringham church is a must. If you would prefer you can bring your dog and go for a walk in the grounds or let the children play on the play ground. There are also restaurants and shops on site too. Enjoy!!
E. M.
Beautiful, peaceful, relaxing and always a lovely place to be. The festivals they hold are always fun too, as are the Game and Country Fair and the Christmas Fair.
D. D.
Lovely place to visit
The grounds and woods are beautiful and could spend hours walking the dog.
Would of been nice to get in the private gardens but dogs are not allowed in that area. Understand not house but should be able to get a separate ticket for the house and garden. The post code on the website is incorrect 30/05/22. By about half a mile. Takes you past the entrance to the car parks. Apart from that loved it. Plenty for all the family to do.
R. D.
If you get a chance… go and experience Luminate. It’s the perfect start to Christmas.
Luminate is the Christmas light show at Sandringham. It is a magical walk through the woods. The imagination and work that has gone into this are mind boggling.
P. U.
Stunning grounds and house well worth a visit
J. K.
Lovely camp site in among the trees. Staff friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, due to Covid, the shop wasn't open but didn't detract from my stay. The dog was very happy eager to go walking!
B. S.
Shame about having to pay to park now, was only noted at the actual parking area itself and no where else on the route to the visiting centre. Nonetheless, a wonderful location to walk or cycle through, very peaceful. Lots of marked paths to explore, rather easily to follow paths that didn't seem to get bogged down as easily as more peaty areas. (As a side note, 90Mbps+ download speeds on 4G, better than in town!)
S. H.
Beautiful house. It has collections of Jade and those in the house have personal recollections of the royal family to help enrich the experience. The grounds are gorgeous.
I. O.
Stunning location. Very friendly staff but make sure you get your cup of tea in before the 4.30pm bell! Apparently it runs late and I was denied my brew!
J. M.
Lovely place to walk around on an autumnal day! 🍂 Great selection of gifts. The shop is dog friendly too! 🐾
A. T.
Love this place and everything about it. The church is beautiful gardens immaculate and tea rooms that can't be beaten on quality or service. The Landmark Trust let out the converted water tower which is on the estate. Well worth considering for a holiday with a difference.
S. C.
Plenty of things to look at on the estate. Lots of paths to walk and explore. Signs are few and far between but every so often they appear. Map in the leaflet is only slightly more helpful, but the locals and guides are only too pleased to help.
G. M.
Went to Sandringham illuminate with all the family, what a great evening. The lights are fantastic. The food was very welcome after the walk. 10 out of 10.
E. J.
Went touring with our caravan. Stayed on the CMC site. Lots of lovely walks. Sandringham was fantastic. Also booked an afternoon tea as a birthday treat for hubby. Cost was £30 each. Loads of tea to fill you up. The actual food was disappointing. Cannot call it sandwiches only got 2 x 2 finger sandwiches each and no top up.
D. F. D. F.
This site is well positioned for walking in the 60 acre forest most of which is open to the public. A visit to the house including the gardens and the car park is well priced at £23. There are a few eateries around the area as well as a fish and chip van tue thurs and sat. Cod or haddock and chips are £10. The staff as ever on the sites brilliant. I will be back again at some future date. Enjoy your visit.
D. B.
Lots to do and see. On the estate. There is a statue of one of the queens horses. There is a buddah that was donated to the queen a statue of old father time. Cant add photos yes because they're on laptop. Doing this on phone.
J. B.
Only visited the estate, tearooms and shop, not the house and gardens. Lovely walk through the woodlands. Quiet after the Jubilee weekend. Lovely selection of goods in the shop and plants in the garden shop. Sat outside with coffee and cake.
S.
Clean toilets and lots of them. We stopped for a coffee while out on a bike ride. Much busier than I expected. Long queue for coffee and it's the same queue for those buying sandwiches, cakes etc. It would speed things up considerably if there was a drinks only queue.
m. s.
An amazing place to visit and walk in. The walks are endless with incredible rhododendrons everywhere. The visitor centre offers excellent food and drink and I highly recommend walking in this beautiful part of the country.
J. M.
Found the house disappointing. Was in and out in 15 minutes. Not many rooms open. Ground floor only. Extensive grounds are the selling point here which, if we'd realised, can be enjoyed for half the price. Beautiful lake. Gardeners must be around somewhere but we didn't see any. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Blenheim Palace was far better. Never tire of that.
j. s.
Concert at Sandringham Estate ...Björn Again (ABBA Tribute) ....Great location , lots of parking , very friendly atmosphere too ...food and drink stalls were great and the WC facilities were clean. Really enjoyed the experience
N. F.
A spur of the moment visit while staying in the area.
Found the online ticket booking a little difficult but managed to get the tickets on my 3rd attempt.
We has a very enjoyable visit. The house full of history and lovely gardens and parkland. All the staff we spoke to were very knowledgeable and helpfull making the visit so much more enjoyable . Not sure about value for money in these austire time's. But we certainly were very pleased we made the visit .
N. J.
Lovely place to visit. Guides are happy to give you any further information. Wonderful gardens to explore and a visit to the shop is a must!!
S. W.
Well worth a visit. Lovely play area for children
M. S.
We had a magical experience at luminate, a wonderful ,emersive ,all family experience, definitely one we shall never forget ❤ thank you .
R. S.
Excellent family day out. Parking is a bit pricey but the play park is excellent however a season pass is worthwhile. Lovely walks all seasons.
L. B.
Idyllic. Lovely parkland and excellent picnic destination. The house and church are beautiful and very atmospheric. Shops reasonable and all very tastefully designed and stocked.
D.
Sandringham House is the private home of Queen Elizabeth II; however, you can visit the House, Museum and Gardens and although a bit expensive, it is definitely worth the money as it is very interesting – although not as pretty as Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace or Windsor Castle (the ones I have visited).
J. C.
A wonderful area to visit for all types of visitors. There are several really good walks, some in the woods, some of them out in open moorland. Nearby is the Sandringham visitor's centre, good for eats and drinks. Lots of souvenirs of the Royal House. A great place for an interesting day out.
M. C.
The grounds and gardens are lovely we did not have enough time to explore the whole gardens in 4 hrs. We also toured the house which has lots of Royal family pictures and collections. We also toured the Museum which had carriages, and cars as well as some children's cars. Oh and a bit of the queens racing horses as well. The Royal stud is near the walled garden which is only accessible by arrangement. WE DID NOT GET to see the horses but I would love to return to see the horses... where this year Royal Applause is standing at stud. The old Stables is a cafe and the Museum. I would suggest you go earlier as it did seem to get quite busy we were first in at 10:30am and we left at around 2pm it was getting quite busy with a long line to enter the house.
D. B.
Stunning. No other word would come close to expressing my visit. If I lived closer I would come back again and again.
L. Q.
Very well organised at the Visitor Centre - cafe, restaurant and shop. The actual house is a 10min+ walk to the house, free buggys are available if you can't walk that far. The house is open to the public on the ground floor and is very beautiful. The guides in each room are very knowledgeable and helpful, all in all well worth a visit
E. C.
Beautiful house and grounds, even in the rain. Lovely service in the shop, at the ticket office, in the stables takeaway and at the gates. Thank you. Highly recommend the adventure playground, kids loved it.
G. B.
Please please go to Sandringham the car park does cost a small amount but please don't be put off by this because if you are under a 1/2 hour it is free. Also visit the shop and plant centre it very reasonable. The whole place ouses finery lovely people just all round great experience a must do for young and old.
A. A.
Very well maintained woodlands, good parking, great for a day out.
Two marked routes through the estate returning safely back at the carpark, cafe, toilets and shop.
Food is a little pricy, but to be expected.
Parking is reasonably priced.
Z. P.
Great playpark, got some new play areas since last time we visited last year. Nice walks, average to get around with a pushchair. Parking is expensive but you could stay here for many hours without having to spend any money. Toilets are a bit of a walk from the playpark but were clean. Staff were nice and friendly, easy to pay for parking, just had to wait a couple of mins to get to rhe machine.
M. O.
Amazingly organised event for the Run Sandringham. Whether was a great help.
A. S.
We only popped by to see the Tea Shop, Gift Shop, and toilets, but not the Main House & Grounds. (That will be next time!)
Everything was spotlessly clean in the loos. The gift shop had a wide range of stock at very reasonable prices. The ice creams on sale were yummy and the tea shop super.
We arrived late (having been to nearby Snettisham beach earlier) but will definitely return soon to see the house and gardens. One advantage of living in central Norfolk is that we're never more than 30mins from a beach or tourist attraction.
♿ As a wheelchair user myself, everything was 'chair/scooter accessible, and the accessible loos were spotlessly clean too. Lots of disabled parking bays . ♿
Top tip: Parking in the public car park is free for the first 30 minutes so there's ample time to pop to the loos and/or gift shop.
T. M.
Good to be able go into the downstairs rooms actually used by the Queen and members of the Royal family at Christmas
C. L.
Beautiful. The inside of the house was lovely. To get the best from the gardens go when all the flowers are out, even so the gardens in Spring were still a joy to see. Well worth a visit.
M. W.
Children's play area much improved. Lovely walk ways through trees. Parking expensive. Was previously free!
C. W.
Always really enjoy going to Sandringham Estate, especially this time to see the illustrations
O. Z.
Wonderful place to have a rest. I have been here many times in different seasons. The fabulous garden is always excellent. I recommend buy tickets online to visit palace one day before, because last time, when we was in public holiday we can't to buy tickets for palace on the place, because numbers of visitors was limited
K. J.
We have been here before and had forgotten the amount of rooms you dont see. Would be nice to see a staircase and maybe 1 room upstairs. Would have given 5* otherwise. Gardens, lakes and walks are very pleasant. The restaurant was lovely and clean . The shop was well stocked and had a good selection of items. The museum had alot more to see than the house
a. w.
On a short4 day break great for dog walks very friendly dog walkers for those with Electric Vehicles only one double 7kw charger easy access through a website I received 120 miles worth of free charge
R. W.
Walked around the gardens today, very nice👍
C. W.
Had a thoroughly delightful day here with friends. Lovely setting. Had food and drinks here and ice creams which were lovely. Spent a fortune in the shop but after saying that everything was reasonably priced
C. S.
Lovely walks & great gift shop. Well worth a visit.
G. J.
Whilst on a visit to Sandringham I made contact with a young lady named Erin (I think)). We were at the stables area. She was friendly, polite and knowledgable. It was a pleasure to talk with her. She is an asset to your staff. We had an enjoyable day out. G. Jones
P. S.
What more can you say than 5 stars. 10 ? Enjoy it every time we visit. Prices are higher than elsewhere but to be expected it's a huge estate & has to pay for itself, no funding from anywhere. Staff very pleasant & helpfull. 👑
M. B.
Great place to visit. Only some of the house is open to the public. The museum is very good and so are the grounds. The walled garden is extra. There is some where to eat and get a drink and an ice cream. All in all a good day out.
H. C. M. A.
Sandringham Estate is a private residence of the Queen Elizabeth and purchased on 1862. The estate is vast: some 2400 acres. The Queen with her family spends Christmas each year. Her stay is usually around two months during this festive season. Today the part of the ground floor rooms and the gardens are open to the public. The tickets are priced at £23 for an adult. Costly but we'll worth it!
M. D.
Lovely place, beautiful woods, friendly staff. We don't mind paying parking now but think it's a little unfair for families that don't have much money and enjoy a picnic there, after all the estate does belong to the Queen and she has plenty of money.
S. B.
I lovely day out for all the family. Great winding walks through the woods, adventure park for the kids, coffee and cake for the adults.
I. D.
We were holidaying in the area so we paid a visit to Sandringham we had been in the house and gardens on a previous visit which was really good but this time we only went to to the walks in the woods. There is plenty of car parking which you pay for on exiting the walks are clearly marked with poles with directions a intervals so is easy to follow and is easy going we had our dog and he enjoyed it would visit again again.
S. D.
Beautiful grounds, amazing for dogs but a real shame you can't even get a photo of the house without tickets which we would have happily paid for to be able to walk around the formal gardens outside the house but no dogs allowed. Totally understand dogs not in the house of course but think opportunity for sandringham also being missed here. We would return just for the dog friendly grounds when we are next on holiday in the area. Carpark reasonable charge and tea Troon prices also surprisingly average.
D. M.
Great place to walk the dog. Plenty of space to have a picnic. Plenty of parking, toilets, and a gift shop
N. H.
Well worth a visit to the house as well as gardens & museum. Can't take photos inside, but very charming and informed guides with lots of fascinating information regarding the furnishings and history.
p. s.
Poor service from the staff as when you ask them a question they are unable to answer your question ⁉️ The gardens needed some looking after lawns could have done with a cut,and for a prestigious county estate it was in need of a clean
A. S.
So beautiful grounds and an amazing house and headphones are a must I'd say that they supple
I. M.
Loved having a look around the Queens residence and the Chapel is beautiful. Very helpful and informative staff too.
M. W.
We went on a nice sunny day and the walk round the grounds was lovely was definitely worth the visit and will be coming back in the future.
W. S.
Do not allowed to take photos inside since it is still Her Majesty property. You can find a lot of story about the royal family, nice exhibition as well.
R. W.
Always stop here on our way out of Norfolk to let the dog stretch her legs and grab a bacon butty and a cuppa. Free parking for 30 minutes.
L. W.
Beautiful place to visit. Loved by all the family young and old. Something for everyone. Great play area for the younger ones, climbing trees and lovely walks. We have visited several times. Definitely a family favourite.
L. R.
As always the estate and visitors tea rooms and gift shop were beautifully kept, clean and peaceful,
All the staff are friendly polite and proud,we absolutely love visiting here,
Next year we will again visit the house but didn't want to this year with all the restrictions,
Well worth the visit,
D. Y.
If you are visiting Sandringham I would recommend you go for the combined ticket of house, garden and musuum as although £16.50 it represents the best value.
The house itself was intimate when compared to a stately home and the visit was enriched by friendly and knowledgeable guides in most rooms. They explained how Sandringham was both a get away for the royal family
and open to the public often at the same time.
We went at the beginning of September so the gardens were past there best, but were still attractive and well worth going around. I liked the musuum, especially the collection of royal cars all of which had been used by members of the family or on state occassions.
It is also possible to visit the church, pictured so often on TV at Christmas with crowds outside. Although within the grounds it is possible to visit the church without paying the entrance fee to the estate.
Remember the house closes for the winter season.
S. A.
An amazing insight into a proper functioning Royal household.
L. T.
nice park for walking and rest, also wonderful shop
P. C.
Great dog walking. Great childrens playground. Lots of car parking and facilities.
C. H. H.
Very nice grounds and the house is interesting - you just don't get to see much of the interior. Good gift shop.
M. M.
Had a lovely day reasonably priced stalls took picnic long queue for food and drinks only 4 gardens which was disappointing went with platinum bus's lovely driver and helpful 😀
K. W.
Lovely walks through the woods, sculpture trail and church as well as the paid option of the House, Grounds and Museum (if a little pricey).
M. V.
Flower show, big disappointment, more like a trade fare. Few flowers. £20 for the privilege of sitting in a traffic queue for nearly two hours to get in. Poor organisation. Wouldn’t dream of going anywhere near the place again.
L. T.
What a beautiful place. Met the queen and her hubby, had tea and cake. All went well🤥.
Seriously though, worth a visit. Spent all day there.
N. C.
Lovely place to visit, lots of lovely walks, lovely shop and cafe.
M. T.
A beautiful place to visit with vast parkland and lovely to tour the house. Special exhibition for the Queen's Jubilee was a nice bonus
j. m.
We had a fabulous time in Sandringham again. Visiting Oxburgh Hall, Cromer & Castle Rising.
P. F.
Even in the pouring rain, the walk around this forest was incredible and well worth getting wet for!
l. c.
Lots of interest. Museum was brilliant and was interesting to see how the rooms have changed over the years. Gardens are amazing. Loved the lake area. The altar in the church is amazing. Well worth a visit
D. L.
We were stopping at the camp site on the Estate. Had a couple of bike rides around the woods it was lovely.
P. M.
Really good at Sandringham really enjoyed it,i went round the forest/woods in there so good and had a picnic there as well with ice cream afterwoods.
C. W.
Beautiful grounds in a large estate. We visited with family for the Easter egg hunt set up by the air ambulance and rotary club if I remember correctly. Ice cream was tasty but a little pricey. Visited on NYE 2018 also and saw the queen and family going to church. Visited the cafe for a quality homemade scone and pot of tea.
t. p.
Blown away by the beauty of the house and gardens. Worth visiting nevertheless the entry fee. Enjoy!
P. D.
Fantastic place to take a leisurely few hours out of a busy schedule, and maybe bump into the Queen! Very peaceful and not outrageously busy. Fab.
M. D.
Great place to visit, not cheap but well worth the visit. Stunning gardens
L. B.
A little pricey, as you'd expect, but very interesting to see the private home of the Queen in beautiful grounds.
K. P.
Great play area for kids, just be careful some kids don't have manners, good forest and trails, cafe very expensive tho, so bring food with you
S. W.
Great tracks for walking, park for playing in a beautiful forest setting rich with foxgloves and rhododendrons.
J. F.
ample parking, easy access and plenty to do with the kids, take pack up as the foods quite pricey !
P. B.
A great place to walk without having to pay to go into the the Queen's estate. You can visit the chapel, a stunning little building with a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. Car parking is free. A cafe and some gift ships are also available.
D. M.
Very nice, but didn't get to see any of the family!
I. P.
Lovely grounds but cafe overpriced at 4 pounds for a sandwich. Good toilets and the church is lovely
J. A.
Perfect picnic and dog walking spot, finishing off with a play on the park and a cup of tea. Lovely day out, and close enough to the seaside to have fish and chips on the seafront for dinner.
M. G.
The tickets prices are too high and the visit is short. No picture policy applied indoors but you get to see where the Queen spends her Christmas.
K. H.
Came for a day to get away from it all, a beautiful drive and walk round the estate and Bo the dog loved it too 😊
j. j.
Awesome location for cycling and walking, highly recommended the Jersey ice cream.
N. C.
Just a lovely place to go lovely walking great picnic places and a good play park Must see the church
A. F.
Play area is much improved. Nice to have the tea/coffee van near the kids area. There is now a toilet next to thr play area, very useful. I bought the yearly pass, which includes parking.
D. B.
We walked in the Country Park at Sandringham Estate, so beautiful, so restful. Well managed, accessible by all with variation of trails.
E. S.
Stunning place, we only went to were the play park is which is free along with some nice looking walks, the play park is brilliant and my kids loved it. The area around is nicely looked after and can't wait to go back and explore some more.
W. O.
An incredibly beautiful place!! Spent hours wandering about the house and grounds...
loved every minute of it!
a.
This review is just for the restaurant/cafe as our visit was out of season and the main estate and house were not open to the public. There is a decent variety of menu options and the food we had was well prepared and cooked using quality ingredients, it was aslo well presented. The marks are 4 not 5 stars as the car park is rather muddy and gave us mud in the back of the car. The food is a bit pricey but the quality is definitely there.
S. R.
Good walks, car park (pay) children's playground, cafe, garden shop
A. l.
Nice place to visit great area to go to plenty of Forrest walks cafe shops and a play area. Obviously get to see sandringham estate which is house museum gardens for a cost and also an old church.
L. W.
Fabulous kids playground and forest trails to keep family entertained all day
E. M.
You can pay to go round the gardens and house or just the gardens. The gardens are beautiful
J. W.
Loved having a nosey around where the Queen goes to relax. Really interesting and educational.
I liked the pre-recorded audio tour which was very informative.
Beautiful gardens.
M. A.
Awesome place for the kids and dogs! We live pretty close to the estate and have purchased the annual parking ticket so we can come and go as we please. Children's play area is brilliant.
A. R.
Wonderful walks in beautiful woodland. Car Park prices not bad.Amazing coffee and cake in the cafe and outside seating fir dog lovers and people watchers. The re furbished restaurant is a bit child unfriendly. Quite a restricted child's menu but the adults well catered for and the China is beautiful.
B. C.
Beautiful gardens and house is lovely, weather made it a great day out.
N. J.
Fantastic visit to the house and gardens and delightful staff. Only downside is the food available. No special diet provision in the takeaway and, reading between the lines, they're not keen on serving people in the restaurant unless they get there early because of the posh (and pricey!) afternoon tea bookings. Bring a picnic and you'll be fine!
G. T.
What an absolutely stunning place. Immaculate grounds. All maintaied to w fantastic standard. Gorgeous food in the cafe. Wonderful array of products and produce in the gift shop. Would highly recommend. Will definitely be back
D. S.
Disappointed that bedrooms or more of the house are not available to view. Staff are fantastic and very knowledgeable.
G.
The grounds are beautiful, the free bit of the estate is great. Paid for the tour of the house, while lovely and a part of our nation's history it's very over priced for what it is, you only go round the ground floor and see about seven or eight rooms.
E. C.
Loved our walk around the grounds, even in the freezing wet weather. Staff friendly and knowledgeable and interacted with our children well. Will definitely return when the house & church are open
Oh and love the fact that they do not allow dogs in the gardens, can picnic in peace in the summer
J. C.
Excellent, well what else can one say about the Queen’s Christmas residence. Great tour guides and a beautiful place to visit. Great walks within the grounds and a very nice Cafe beside the Stables.
T. G.
Parking charge fair, could do with more coffee kiosks but nothing stopping you taking your own refreshments if q is a problem.
Surprised at number of dogs let off their leads owners should consider not everyone is comfortable, not a problem for me but could be if you don't like dogs.
Stunning parkland, beautiful walks to suit all abilities, great day out.
D. C.
Lovely place to visit. Had a great place. Only problem we had was we went to the restaurant for a meal, but at that time they was not serving meals only cakes and drinks. But that was super delicious to so had no problem.
L. D. P.
This place is a must see when going to England, its nice to see a privately owned home of the Queen of Enlgand. So peaceful , my grand daughter and I spent the hole day there this past July.!!
L. W.
Fabulous day. Some great displays and very informative. Felt it would have been nice to see more. The gift shops are the usual... Bit national trust like
A. P.
Restaurant is very nice, especially for breakfast and the walk around the gardens of the estate is worth it for some spectacular views. Area also has plenty of parking and numerous free walking areas. Gift shop is also very nice too.
A. W.
Beautiful house and gardens, you are provided with earphones to listen to different information in each room or you can ask any of the staff to provide their invaluable knowledge on any item that you see. Plenty of places to walk around, do not miss the stables and the old fire engine shed.
M. C.
What can I say? Really nice estate with access to acres of woodland. Inclusion of dogs is great as it is in the whole of Norfolk. Will always go back for a visit.
L. E.
Sandringham is always lovely to visit! Big car park with free parking, loads of lovely dog friendly walks, big play park for kids, cafe is big and the food is always cooked lovely and great choices! Love the gift shop also as it's big, spacious and lots of choices!
T. B.
The Luminate event was brilliant and good value.

This was a fun so for brunch. Despite our being not very busy there was still quite a wait for a table. I felt it was perhaps understaffed at the time. That said the waitresses were very quick and attentive once we were seated.
The good was lovely and it has a nice atmosphere.. Not quaint but pleasant

Enjoyable and interesting tour of the house, gardens and church.

A very nice house not open yet but gardens are. Have visited before.
The visitors center was busy but I have to say very over priced £6 for a biro ? If we had bought the dog 🐕 coat it would have cost more than mine

I was really looking forward to Sandringham. There are two parts to the visit the house and gardens. House was a good experience and gave a really good insight to the queen and her private home.
Disappointed with the gardens. Lots and lots of grass which one can see at Hyde Park or St James etc. Walled Garden was closed which was disappointing. We had allowed 4 to 5 hours for the visit. Let after 2 hours.
I preferred Blenheim Palace and Wrest Park gardens

This is a pleasant visit but only half a day at best. They say there are 8 rooms to visit, more like 5 with a couple of connecting corridors. A lot of trading on the Queen at a premium price. OK but not stunning, some of the guides put Hyacinth Bocquet to shame.

Great place to take the children. Lots of things to see & do. Play area & cafe are very good.

Enjoyable, nice gardens unfortunately the house was half covered in scaffold

Lovely place for a picnic, can get very very busy. Be sure to not mind dogs as it is PRIME dog walking and let's face it, what dog doesn't like the woods lol the shop is cute and has plenty to choose from. Whilst a little expensive, the food is good quality

Beautiful grounds, gardens and facilities. We went to a concert in the park and it was fantastic with good toilets and catering.

Amazing show of lights. The atmosphere was so lovely .It almost felt like going back in time .everyone was happy ,the food stalls were great ,extremely well organised and so exciting for big kids like me. I would recommend to all ages ,I'm going next year for sure .

Visit was to collect our Platinum Jubilee take out afternoon tea. Unfortunately they experienced a disaster which delayed my collection by about 1 hour. But the afternoon tea was great and enjoyed by all.

A fantastic experience, the house visit is a must. Tip, don't use the audio equiptment. Chat to the guides, you get so much additional information and insight. Platinum Jubilee has the whole estate buzzing. Take a stroll in the royals footsteps to the church and get a photo on the lych gate steps.

Excellent Caravan and Motorhome Club site. Facilities a little dated but pitches are a good size and come with TV aerial plug in.

Absolutely love this beautiful place but we went on a bike ride recently and it was out of this world. Amazing. But one minus was that we had a sandwich each and a drinks and after we had some rubbish for miles we couldnt find a bin so we took the rubbish home and it was a great inconvenience as we travelled on bikes not with the car. So instead of complaining how much people litter they should put more bins out.

Beautifully laid out grounds. Could spend hours wandering about here. Fascinating collections to be seen in house.

Brilliant children's play area. Great walks & trails, a really super day out for all the family.

The house and garden are beautiful and it is really interesting to see HRH home. However the MOP facilities were not too good today ☹️
A. B.
The grounds and facilities are beautiful, however strict rules visiting the house, understandable, but only so much you're allowed to see, with a brief history of each room, and contributions from each of the royals over time, would have been nice to see a bit more of the house for what you pay, but still, glad we had a look, well worth a visit, a lot of history.

We had an amazing experience yesterday, walked over 11 miles including the walk from the ffolkes hotel, an experience that i will never forget.
All members off staff where extremely knowledgeable and very friendly, able to answer all my questions and when i was just looking at artifacts a guide would come and give a bit of information about the items.
The extensive ground where immaculately kept and it was a picturesque and tranquil place to walk.
We will definitely return soon and it would be highly recommended to anyone who enjoys a little bit of our Royal Family's history.
Thank you Sandringham.

Went to the Sandringham estate to cycle on our ebikes. I asked at the visitors centre if there was a leaflet showing the route and was shown to a very small map, which was next to useless unfortunately. My wife asked a staff member where we should go and was told there aren't any cycle paths here! Undeterred, we found the yellow and blue hiking routes, which were also fine for cycling around. We then came upon a red cycle route and followed this for some time until the marker posts disappeared... All a little disappointing really.

Stunning. Peaceful grounds and a lovely look into the private life of the royal family. Really brought home the link they have with British and world history.

Brilliant place for dog walking or just taking a relaxing walk. Lovely fragrance from trees after rain. Area also has two excellent campsites located within the park. Good car parking areas.
M. R.
Always a great few hours at Sandringham. New car park charges are reasonable. New play area is excellent.

As well as walking in the woods, we went to the adventure playground, which is absolutely brilliant! Kiddies of all ages love it, spent hours there. Only downside was the cost of parking, but a small price to pay when the children have such a wonderful time.
M. G.
Garden are worth a walk around, well kept as you would expect, making for a nice walk. House was interesting.

On a wet Wednesday we visited Sandringham House. We used the car park for disabled. We then had a very long walk on gravel to the gatehouse. Fortunately there were buggies to transport us to the House. Afterwards, on recommendation of guides, the buggies dropped us off at the turnstile gate to walk to the church. The walk back from the church to the car park was very arduous for those with limited mobility using walkers.
Surely support could be available both sides of the gatehouse. I'm sure most passengers would be prepared to pay for the buggy trips.
The staff were interesting and kind and the house was lovely.

Lovely walk in the grounds. Parking is a bit steep, shop worse!
J. S.
Beautifully peaceful and stunning and staff extremely friendly and helpful

Lovely place to visit. Did not need to book tickets for the Gardens but you do to visit the House.

Lovely time .walking in the woods. Play area is brilliant.

Hard to find. Not many signs. Great day outing. No pic inside the house but ok in museum. Friendly staff.

A lovely place for walks with the family and the dogs, plenty of car parking places.

Absolutely love it. So amazing history and the gardens look amazing. I can't speak for the house as we didn't go in however it looked amazing would highly recommend if you are going and as a bonus under 17's go free and adults are £12 each. Defiantly going back again ☺️

Only got as far as the play area today and couldn't tear the kids away! Fantastic day
R. S.
Beautiful surroundings, very difficult to purchase tickets always seems to be booked at the moment. Sad we could not buy tickets for just the gardens, also no dogs allowed in the gardens. Good area for picnics, lovely cafe and take away drinks & ice creams.
P. j.
This place is great if you want a quiet stroll around, plus plenty of space so kids can run about without annoying anyone (my lot tried and failed). There are some very friendly ducks so if you have a picnic be prepared to share!
Did the Winter Wonderland this year and it was fantastic, again the kids loved it
K. H.
Nice estate. Worth spending the day exploring the many tracks through the woodland. Cafe reasonably priced and worth a visit!

Beautiful grounds, amazing Autumn colours....

Enjoyed Sandringham both the house and the gardens. Also had an afternoon tea well worth the cost.

An excellent visitor experience. The house was fabulous and the addition of a headset made the visit very informative. I’d recommend the gardens at the front of the house too. There are golf buggies available if the walk from the entrance to the house is too far. Our driver took us to see the stables and gates too. Our daughter loved the playground. The cafe, shop and doggie water stations are all excellent.
