Reviews of Life Science Centre
Of your kids like hands on science activities then this is a great place to come.
They also have a few shows and short movies that's shown on a dome which is quote cool.
As a bonus we went on the Queen's Jubilee weekend and they gave free delicious cup cakes.
Staff very friendly and welcoming.it was so busy due to half term but staff said they had limited numbers due to restrictions, i cant imagine more people, it felt busy enough.
It is very expensive in the cafe, soft drinks are nearly £2 a bottle so for a family this doesn't come cheap and once you have factored in food aswell the pounds quickly add up, my son didn't eat the cheese sandwich as he said it was "horrible".we also had chicken nuggets and these seemed to be a hit so that was a small hit.
We spent 3 hours here in total and that was enough for us, the boys said they had a great time and thats the main thing.
It's not a place I would come rushing back to but it's certainly worth a visit if you have not been before, just be prepared to queue for everything.
What a fantastic day out at the centre for life we had. Loads of highly interactive things for my daughter to do, from science experiments, to crafts, games, building rockets, learning about space science, it really is s great experience for children of all ages and adults too. Very safe in terms of covid setup, nice and spacious cafe area, plenty of staff to help with any issues too. Only challenge we had was one of the lifts broke so we had to lift my daughter's wheelchair up a short flight of steps. Regardless of that, I'd highly recommend a visit if you're in town. Always something new to see and do here.
Fantastic experience. Visited here once in primary school on a trip so decided to bring my niece her for the first time. She absolutely loved it. Spent half an hour in the makers section creating monster puppets. Followed by two live shows and a walk around the Lego and Space section. She thoroughly loved it and can't get to get started on some little science experiments at home!
Nice place to take the kids for the afternoon. Lots of interesting stuff to see and learn.
But the kind of place you can visit too often as the exhibits don't chance too frequently
Prices are reasonable.. With 2 adults and 4 kids costing £45. Spent 3.5hrs in there... And learned a few things!
Fantastic museum and a great experience. Spent a few hours there and it was absolutely wonderful. It's mostly interactive experience so it's not like kost museiks that involve a lot of reading. It was also great to be able to interact with exhibits considering that a lot of museums have closed anything that has a remote interaction in the past year. I have seen a lot of comments about people bringing in their kids but havo not seen many adults only experience feedback. So if you are looking to go without kids, it's definitely recommended. Unfortunately, during our visit one of the top floor areas was already closed when we showed up. And the planetarium was a bit of a let down as we were expecting to see the planetary experience but it gelt more like a movie about earth. Overall, still hreat and recommended.
Nice place to visit! It's good for todlers and all children to play & learn. I brought my 14 months old girl to walk around. It has all facilities you need, eg. cafe with food for kids/adults, breastfeeding space (you can just ask the staff for this, they are really nice), etc. I planed to get the annual ticket but the staff suggested me to buy a single ticket to see around first then if I like they can upgrade the ticket later (within the same day) with deducting from the full amount of the annual fee, this was so lovely. When we finished exploring the place like 4 hours then I upgraded the ticket right away. You can ask them for the map 😀
I'd say book in advance as it's all time slots. It's mega helpful that the amount of tickets remaining is an indicator for how many people will be there and they advise of schools visiting etc. Such an amazing place with interactive events, experiments, educational and entertaining shows and films. You can be a weather person and space landing commander and almost like you're in Houston itself! The experiments were amazing! I (at 40) learned as much as my kids and the ENTIRE staff are amazing. Oh, and don't forget the cafe which is also amazing. The salads made in-house by the chef......wowee! I'm not really a salad guy, but I was hungry and at £3.50 for a box of the best flavours that fills you just right? You'd be mad not to experience this and learn something new. Every day is a school day and the day you go here will be the best learning you've done in the last 20 years! If I move back to the area with my kids I'm becoming a member, no doubt!
We went for the day (1hr 40mins away) my children aged 11 &16 both loved it and want to go back.
Was OK unfortunately they have took the ice wall out which was my grandsons favourite enjoyed making a space buggy
It was a bit pricey and maybe isn't the best place to go with kids under 3. There is a soft play area upstairs, which is lovely, but the rest of the place is more suitable for older kids and adults. We enjoyed the planetarium show and the fact there are plenty of hands on activities. The place was clean and the staff was friendly. Will revisit when our kid is bigger!
As a family we've loved it. Plenty to do for children of all ages (and adults). Our 9 year old and 2 year old both had an amazing time. Building bug hotels, planetarium and playing with the wind machine were definitely their favourite activities it's a shame we live so far as otherwise we would be coming back on a monthly bases. The ticket prices were also very reasonable.
A very impressive looking modern building which feels just as big inside as it does outside. The Life Science Centre provides a variety of exhibitions surrounding modern day science, which promotes the advancement of life sciences from over the years. It tends to get somewhat busy and seems a great place to go as a family where children and adults can learn and have fun.
A great place to visit with children. Really well thought out with hands on activities for younger children near to exhibits/activities for older children and adults so that everyone is happy! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that despite how good the museum itself was for children, the café didn't have any children's meals at all. This may have been because we went there on a weekday during term time.
My 5 year old grandson loved it and we did spend 2 hours there but I was a bit disappointed that some activities didn't actually work and its not cheap, nevertheless it was worth going just to occupy him with something different.
This is an amazing science and children’s museum. Even though we are in the Newcastle area for only a few months, it was immediately obvious that we would be spending lots of time here. We became members, and the experience honestly keeps getting better as we come more. Yes, we’ve seen all the shows that are in now and made all the crafts they have available on rotation at the moment. My kids still ask to come here at least weekly. Thanks to the help of Laura last weekend, my kids had one of the best experiences they’ve ever had in a museum like this, I learned how to spin a plate on a stick (this takes a surprising amount of dexterity), and I have a new book to read about being my best “me.”
Highly recommended!
A fantastic, interactive museum. My children, aged 8 and 11, loved it. They got to do proper experiments, loved the live show and planetarium and we were so impressed that all of the interactive exhibits were working. Good cafe too. Highly recommend!
Hadn't been in a few years so was nice to see a few changes here. A lot to offer a family on a visit. Thought some of the things were a bit token - balancing buckets and floating paper things. Fun but don't hold up to subsequent visits. Similarly making lanterns wasn't very exciting. So many of the things are exactly the same as they were 5 years ago. Would be lovely to see some more hands on activities like can be found at the Winchester Science Museum. However, the space section is really great, very well done and engaging good lots of different ages. The Lego display was great - a section for kids to build would be a really good addition here. The soft play is a lovely addition but left the older kids a bit lost and wanting to move on. Which they did to the experiment section to separate DNA! Amazing! Facilities good, toilets clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Café was good and staff very good at managing the lunch hour. Kids all left the hot dogs and said they were horrible so I'd avoid these. Gift shop always will stocked with interesting things. Easy to book parking ticket when booking entrance tickets and fuss free to validate. Highly recommend this venue
Good place to go for a day out for all the family. Nice friendly staff.
Had such a lovely morning at centre for life. Staff at every station were so helpful, patient & friendly with my 2year old nephew. Animals got talent was show was great!
Thank you :)
We are regular visitors to the life centre.Always loads to do to keep the kids busy. The kids love the live shows as well as the planatarium. There is also places to eat pack lunch plenty of clean toilets and staff around. I would say it gets really really busy in half term compared to when we have visited on a weekend.
We haven't had a bad visit yet!
Easily spend 4+ hours here, staff are super friendly and there's plenty of activities to do strongly recommend
A good place to visit with the kids on a rainy day. Social distancing and cleaning has been implemented very well and there is a safe route through the building.
We went during half term and while it was busy enough to create an atmosphere it still felt safe and under control.
There were lots of activities to do, the planetarium and science show were open and the cafe was open.
If you live in the Newcastle area and you have kids, the Life Science Centre annual pass is a must-have. Kids love it here, plus they get some idea about science and technology through play. One-time pass for adults is a bit expensive, though.
Enjoyed the interactive elements of the centre for life, however there was less things to do for younger ones. My son LOVED the little bear 🐻 and clapped at the ending
The planetarium section is ace and there is always loads to see and do
The 4d ride is fun
Go along when they are having a retro games day if you get the chance, really good fun
My little boy (4)
Had "the best day" here today apparently..
The staff were super friendly and there was loads for him to experience 😀
We will definitely be returning.. 👍
Great spot, plenty for the family to do. You can easily spend a good day here exploring the various displsys and exhibitions on at any one time. There is a lovely tea room where you can get snacks and drinks at reasonable prices as well as a well stocked gift shop. Keep an eye on the website for deals and more information regarding current events at the Life Centre. A grest spot for any family visiting Newcastle.
This place is just amazing. So many activities to keep the kids entertained that are fun while being educational. We saw the dinosaur exhibition which didn't disappoint. My 7 year old loved the 4d ride and extracting DNA in the lab. My 4 year old when asked what was her favourite bit replied 'I don't know, it was all amazing'. Food in the cafe was very nice and reasonably priced. A great day out.
Absolutely love it here!it was amazing to visit and it ti be back to the way it was before covid!my children were over the moon including our son with ASD it is his favourite place and we spent a full day here seeing the shows, planetarium and the play area was fab!!well done to all the lovely staff for making it a lovely place to visit as Always ♥️
Visited today for my wife's second Covid-19 vaccination. The center is a sprawling complex built on the old Marlborough bus station. (I'm showing my age!). The staff were excellent and the entire process was very well organized.
It has improved over the years, better overall for kids slightly older/taller (around 7). As too small and they can't go on the 4D ride. Height is checked in the que. Practical experiment zone looked quite good fun. It's not a cheap day out. £34 for a full price family ticket.
Kids loved this place
Ages 4 & 7 loads to do including science experiments making creations really nice staff and great day out
Awesome had loads of fun and learnt loads to boot ...
Too my great grandson and family there recently. Many things to see and take part in. Brilliant day.
Went to coffee shop. Lady very helpful and friendly. Had fruit scone with jam and butter delicious. Loved the coffee.
Very efficient for vaccinations. Very helpfull staff but not easy to park so drop off unless you have a disabled badge.
Something for everyone.....a day out with a difference, carefully thought out activities presented and put together by a great bunch of people. So today was just me and my nine year old daughter we were up in Newcastle so the Life Science Centre sounded the perfect location for a day out together.......
Parking 5 minutes walk away at the Times Square car park, you can see the Life Science Centre from the carpark. As we approached the entrance there was a large ice rink spread out in front of us I noticed on the website you could buy an entrance ticket with a ice skating session....it looked lovely with all the fairy lights in the trees surrounding the rink!!
After a shirt que we bought the tickets and we were in.....we both scanned the layout of the place and then started investigating...the adventure began....I wont go into every activity we did...too much to tell but I must mention the highlights. We watched a live presentation on how and why we need satellites - the presenter was fantastic captured the audience for the whole 20 minutes including the young children with a little audience participation!! My daughter and I loved it. Next highlight was the woodwork workshop....we made a mobile phone stand. Through demonstration we started with a single piece of wood then we measured, sawed, chiseled, drilled, sanded, glued it was amazing.......my daughter did most of it....
Finally my last highlight was the science lab we were testing food samples for starch and sugar, my little nine year was kitted out in a white coat safety googles, gloves and set to work on the experiments it was brilliant. I haven't even mentioned the space exploration area included an actual piece of moon rock, the planetarium and the discovery area......we enjoyed it that much we didn't even stop for a drink and a cake in the cafe....oh well will try that next time.
In summary a fantastic day out we both had such a good time it was worth every penny and again thankyou to the team of people running the centre some of the friendliest people you will meet....
My 7 year old loves science so we finally decided to visit the museum. Absolutely worth it. He loved doing the science experiments! As he is also mad about space, the planetarium went down a treat and is definitely worth visiting. The moon was visually stunning. The cafe is well priced, the coffee delicious. There really isn't a downside to visiting and we can't wait to return to visit the Gaming exhibition!
The only minor issue I noticed was the 4D ride - many of the seats were inoperable which meant space was limited. As the ride is only on every half hour, you have to queue early if you want to go on it.
Great fun, the kids loved it and I learned a few things as well. We went when the gaming exhibition was on and that was great fun and had a chance to play on some really old systems. We didn't manage to get to the 4d cinema or the planetarium both sounded good though.
The Life Science Centre is a great place for the family and for couples alike. It has a comprehensive display of gaming consoles going back 20 years currently on display, and many attractions and rides. I particularly recommend the Planetarium (Alien Worlds) and the pinball machines!
Great place for kids! The centre is divided into five main sections. The first section is called Dino jaws, featuring life size animatronic dinosaurs. The planetarium runs various instructor led shows throughout the day. You can experience naked eye astronomy and live skies here. The third section is a 4D motion ride featuring Rusty, an extraterrestrial robot. The ride lasts for five minutes and is very enjoyable. There is also a Science theatre which displays shows off various scientific experiments and demonstrations. The last section consists of various zones like experiment zone, curiosity zone and brain zone. Apart from this, the centre also runs various workshops depending on the time of the year.
Being honest before I visit there I was afraid that it might be a boring day but it wasn't as soon I entered the centre we enjoy each and every minute.
There are so many things to do
Interesting, amazing, educational.
I would recommend you to go there and visit with kids and don't forget to experience of 4d motions.
Have a great time there.
Food was ok
Life Science Centre is somewhere you can spend the whole day and still not get round everything! So much to do and see. Lots of interaction displays. Highly recommend seeing the science theater show, if running, and a must is the planetarium shows along with the 5d motion ride. They have a main exhibition which changes every few months, so have went back everytime I've been visiting Newcastle as know that I will see something different and interesting each time! There is parking nearby or it's a few minutes walk from nearest train station/subway, so easily accessible
Amazing place to visit we spent nearly 5 hours walking around and getting hands on with the exhibits, loved making our own rocket really hands on with my daughter which was brilliant fun, and the experience of the lab was so exciting and seeing your experiment come to life was priceless, cafe available but we chose to take a picnic, you eat downstairs in your own area which was quieter than the main hustle bustle of the cafe upstairs, ice rink there at the time we went, would highly recommend as an indoor day out for the kids and good place to visit as an adult.
Every time I go here I can never get my kids to leave. They always have lots to do, the exhibitions, 4d ride, planetarium, experiments, soft play. Always lots to do and a fab day out.
Amazing day as always. My children love the interactive displays and I love that it teaches science in a fun way for every age. I have got to say that the staff on my last visit were genuinely amazing. The women running the monster crafts (for Halloween) were so patient, friendly and approachable. Another member of staff sat with my twins (3yo) while we were waiting for the show and showed them fun scientific "tricks" which they still talk about now. And the show it's self was SO good. The staffs passion for science really shine through and it was amazing to see my girls picking up and that.
The only slight negative I have is that we originally came for the Lego installation as my husband and my toddlers are big Lego fans. We were expecting the exhibit to be larger and more of a feature due to the way we had seen it advertised. However this was more than made up for by the amazing space exhibit. It was a lovely trip and definitely worth the entrance fee.
Lots of interactive learning for kids and adults. The science show was fun. Nice planetarium show. The 4d ride was ok. There's a kids play area upstairs. All are included with admission.
We visited while the Lego exhibition was on which was excellent. However there are so many parts to this place for all different ages right up to adult and with exhibits changing regularly there is always a new reason to return.
Possibly great spot for a family day out or a school trip. I went there just with my boyfriend and it seemed a bit overpriced for what it was, from an adult perspective. However, we did have a great time, saw a couple of interesting shows, had lots of fun in the Creative Zone and learnt some new things about space. Definitely money well spent although the ticket could be slightly cheaper
Would have been 5 stars if so many things hadn’t of been closed. The place is good, it’ll take around 2 hours to do and the staff are lovely, everyone I spoke too was helpful and kind. Even down to phoning them up earlier about parking they were amazing. The prices aren’t too bad for what’s there as well. There’s not a lot for little kids to be fair, there’s a huge play zone upstairs for them though but that’s about it. I found I was in the mists of “mummy’s” who are snobby or distracted on there phones and that kinda ruined it a bit as I was getting bashed by someone’s kid whilst trying to interact with my own. Not the places fault but god everyone in there was the same!
The space theme was boring, past ones have been better. I’ll be 100% coming back again but leaving the younger kids at home.
Cool place to go to whether you're just visiting Newcastle or have lived here for an age! I've seen some great exhibitions here including the robots and lego installations. Saw a great documentary on the hubble telescope and have been ice-skating here in the winter. Definitely worth a look in.
Amazing day out had 6 year old twins I thought they would be bored after half an hour I was wrong they absolutely loved it and my 13 year old grandson loved it too needed more time going to visit again soon
Went for the ice skating, which we loved. What they forget to tell you is that they do not provide you with children's equipment and scam you an extra fiver for a penguin. £40 for an adult and two children for 45 minutes is a tad expensive!
Granddaughter 9 really enjoyed it had lunch there, you can stay a long as you like so decent value especially in poor weather
I visited the centre of life in the role of key worker to observe interaction between a step father and son with learning difficulties. I found it a brilliant source for expanding on my work of explaining behaviours and reasoning with the parent whilst having fun too. Great day out. Whilst we all thought the Lego art was amazing, it was just a little boring and could be more interactive.
I am planning to take my son (even though he has been many times with relatives) he loves it so much, when I suggested going he wanted to go today!! (He is 13years old).
Always something interesting here! The 4d motion ride is fantastic! The Bodyworks exhibitions have been amazing, so interesting. Would definitely recommend a visit if you're in Newcastle.
Fantastic building. Right next to the train station (2 minute walk away).
Visited on a weekend. Wasnt too busy. Great displays inside. the Little Bear goes North presentation was excellent. Cafe is OK, expensive as you can imagine. Nice picnic area indoors though too. Soft play area for the little ones. A full days entertainment - would highly recommend.
I went here with my little boy for a space weekend. The staff and facilities as well as creating an experience for kids is just simply amazing, thank you.
Absolutely amazing place. Cheap enough for a family ticket for 2 adults and 2 under 17s. Kids will love the Gaming zone as mine did. So glad we found this place.
The centre is a good option for a family day out. Exhibits are informative. The planetarium is impressive and in winter there's an outdoor ice rink outside of the Times Square entrance to the building.
Really good place to take your children. Lots of hands on experiments, very educational for children and adults alike
Fantastic day with my hubby and friends and I want to my daughter here when she breaks up from school Easter or 6 weeks holidays I no she will love it here . True and utterly amazing place not just for children but for adults to
Really great place. Lots of interactive learning tools. Get in early for the planetarium show.... limited seating!
Great place for kids to learn through exploration. Definitely visit the science lab, and the planetarium. Right now there's a robot exhibition with some very interesting zones.
it is conveniently located in the centtr of Newcastle with good car parks nearby. plenty of activities for children and parents. they have a science experiments zone for over seven year olds with different levels of difficulty. the annual subscriotion to acces the science centre is great value.
Outdoor ice rink.....Amazing 👏 !! We had a hoot on the ice and thoroughly enjoyed our time. Although the rink was quite busy, everyone took care and enjoyed themselves- definitely going to book for next year.
It's OK for family day out and enjoyable for the quizative mind
Excellent value for money, good family day out for all, lots to do and see. Interact with science, good learning experiences.
Highly recommended.
Had the best time, spent around 4hrs in total here with lunch break in the middle. Thanks to having our hand stamped we could come and go as we liked. Facilities are fantastic and so much to do.
They also expect forces and NHS discount this entitled us to one free child.
This week has retro computer games, which all of us loved.
Fabulous day out with the family. All staff were super friendly, especially the young lass at the planetarium. My little one loved watching Little Bear. Cannot wait to visit when the Under 7's section is open.
Went with 14 month old on a rainy day. Amazing place - came away feeling we'd only scratched the surface! Baby is definitely going to grow into so many of these things - got ourselves a year pass. Lovely interactive exhibitions and so much for a small person to do (and big people!)
Fantastic day out for my 2.5 year old. Well worth the £15/adult entry fee. Appreciated plenty of places to eat our own packed lunch, didn't feel pressured to spend more money once inside.
Had a fantastic day here so many different things to see and do my 6 year old daughter tried nearly everything. An ideal place to get children interested in science the cafe also gave plenty of options for lunch.. The 4D escape from Frankenstein was excellent
Wow !
Fantastic day out.
Upgraded to an annual ticket as we left because there's so much to see.
Excellent play area for under 5yrs, loads of space for them to run around
Excellent. Probably the best educational center for children we’ve ever been in. The space and brain sections were incredible.
Good for adults and kids with lots of hands on science and live shows
Upon arrival, there was a short queue and we we greeted by a friendly cashier, who explained the attractions to us and explained the ticket prices and why they were th price they are (adults £15, children 5-17 £8, under 4’s free, OAP and student £11) as they are a charity and rely on public contributions. The exhibitions were factual and fascinating, especially the shows at the planetarium and everyone in my party enjoyed the day. We spent about an hour and a half here, as the children got restless but we could have easily spend the another hour or so here, as there was lots to go. Overall I feel it is a great place to take children or anyone interested in science, and although it is a bit pricey, it is justifiable, as the tickets last a year.
Visited here twice, each time for COVID vaccinations. Both times excellent setup. Friendly security, firm when they needed to be, efficient and welcoming nurses and staff, and free parking at the Central Station.
Very impressed, thank you. And thank you for making me feel comfortable both times. You may see hundreds of vaccine patients a day, but your pleasant manner touches each one of these people.
Thanks again
Visited for the Game On 2.0 exhibit, lovely day out, plenty of space to walk around and plenty if time to try a variety of different games.
Brilliant place for children and adults
Excellent soft play. My granddaughter loved it
Cafe really lovely food
Had a full day will definitely be back
Only negative a little pricey
Very educational very busy because of half term but really good interaction and great for kids
Very good place for visit, lots of things for kids ..definitely recommend
Great for kids of all ages. Cafe was great value for money, not like some over priced places.
Good range of interesting exhibitions for adults and kids alike. Price is a little high. Definitely recommend the Body World exhibition which is now focused on Animals. Sometimes put on evening events. Cafe and gift shop both fine, nothing special.
If being vaccinated is your thing, then right now, this is the place to be.within 45 mins of joining the cue, after booking an appointment on line,i was back in the car with a pinhole in my upper arm and a freshly stamped COVID-19 Vax passport.absolutely fantastic 👌
Great day out had by family of four in August 21, good mix of great space exhibits , hands on experiments and exhibits for kids with great video experience and a little arts and craft for some distraction from the buzz.
Staff were friendly and helpful, well worth a visit.
The kids absolutely loved the Life Science Centre in Newcastle. Highly recommended
Fantastic place for any age..so much to do! My autistic son had a blast a perfect environment for him! 5*
£30 to get in for 2 adults and 2 under 5's.
When we get in you need to be 7+ to do the science bits... Disappointing but still worth a visit.
Need to wear a mask & no dressing up stuff 'because of Covid 😱
Oh my word!
Wonderful experience for our class of 5 year olds.
High quality immersive hands-on learning activities for children. A great day out. We did everything and were there for 5 hours. Excellent staff, well kept working exhibits, reasonably priced café. Good value, covid safe,.. a timed-entry day out.
Absolutely great. Could have stayed longer than the 2hrs we did, easily. Lots for a 5yr old to do.
Great kids play area for under 3s
Dinosaurs who doesn't love them. Not just them a whole lot to experience including a 4d motion ride. If you haven't been out it on your list.
Excellent day out for all the family
Plenty of things for small people to get involved with from play areas to more techy for the older ones. Planaterium was a delight. Centre would have got a 5 but the hot food served on the day was expensive and at best gross. Not many places make Macdonald's shine!!!
Easy to get to, literally next to Central station, nothing else to pay for once you get in, had a good day out playing on retro games, planetarium, etc the gentleman making badges made my grandsons day, he stood talking to him about the moon, took time to tell him interesting facts and let him touch a piece of moon rock, fantastic
Absolutely brilliant day with our grandchildren, I would suggest that the food needs to be looked at as it was a poor and mostly very unhealthy choices.
Absolutely RAMMED when we visited so getting to attraction was somewhat difficult. It didn't clearly state on the website that my 5 year old daughter couldn't go on the 4D ride due to height or do the science experiments.
Visit UK Makerspace 2018 here. Interesting location, lots of kids
Fantastic family day out!!!
Cafe food not up to much but displays were good.
Unfortunately hardly of the centre is open, but the lego exhibition was good and staff were working hard to make the experience safe but still fun
Great place to take younger children. Lots of interactive activities for them and the shows are entertaining and a good length to hold their interest.
Unfortunately I was only there for the coronavirus Vaccination, but from what I saw there appears to be a lot to interest the majority. There are loads of disabled parking spaces and a large parking space next door. It is easy to navigate and there were plenty of people to help if help was needed. There is also an abundance of coffee shops in and around the Centre for Life if the need arises. I intend to pay the establishment a visit when all the restrictions have been lifted.
Great place to take kids, the animals inside out exhibition was absolutely superb!little bit pricey, but I would say it's definitely worth it for young and old!
Love this place. Robots were excellent plenty of learning to do too!
I love the Life Science Centre the Staff is always here to help you and they are friendly.
I came to the Life Science Centre for Game 2.0 in 2015 as they were celebrating the History of The gaming industry from the arcades machine to the modern gaming technology and showcasing gaming tech innovations.
Great place to bring your kids to visit and have a wonderful time
Really good day, very polite staff and clean and tidy environment. Cafe and shop have a decent selection.
We went while the Game 2.0 exhibition was on and the kids loved it, then built a bridge out if straws and card. Science area good fun for Adults and children alike.
Would definitely recommend.
Also if you have any under 7's there's a great upstairs play area too.
Great for kids but I've been coming for years
Excellent visit with family, spent the whole day there and could easily spent 3-4 hours more there.
The game 2.0 exhibit was on and we loved it, being an avid gamer this was expertly put together and plenty of choice on offer.
The planetarium shows were very informative and my kids also enjoyed learning all about space and planets.
The only negative of the day was the food we bought in the cafe. The quality of it was fairly poor and overpriced for what you got. But this didn't spoil the overall experience of the day!
Highly recommended to all ages and better still for families.
Great fun and educational, not just for children but adults too. They have had some fantastic exhibitions over the years and a brilliant play area upstairs for younger children.
Brilliant afternoon out. Our girls aged 3.5 really had fun. They were entertained for 4 full hours there was just so much to do. I'd say younger than 3 may not enjoy it as much. I would like to see more about space there about planets and stars.
The eating areas were clean and tidy through out the day and the toilets spotless. Although a queue outside baby changing as no facilities in the men's toilets which they seemed disappointed about. The staff all friendly and helpful and great with the kids.
Will definitely return soon
Loads for the kids to do. Very educational and some whacky science experiments. The space command control was personally my favourite.
Fab time took our grandson age 4/5 lots to see and do and some good education for him we would go back
So lovely. A place for play, visit science museum and ....
Amazing science Museum.. Lots of activities for the kids. I would recommend this one for everyone visiting with kids or anyone interested in science.
We enjoyed learning about the space crafts and how astronauts survive inside the craft.
Skating sessions were Available when we visited and took an hour from our schedule therefore we didn't have enough time to cover the full centre. We missed 2 shows in the theatre.
Amazing place to visit, with lots to do for the while family.
The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and very engaging.
Far more than you could see in a day or even two and with the "games 2.0"exhibition with gaming through the ages and so many machines to play on and try out it's a geeks heaven. Will be keeping my eyes open for that on tour.
Can't recommend the life centre enough, something for all the family
Look forward to visiting again
Great place for the whole family. Would definitely go again when this situation is over and we can relax in there. Plenty to do and several activities going on throughout the whole day. Café has a very good selection of hot and cold food and all the staff are fantastic throughout the whole facility. Gift shop also has plenty to offer if you want to buy a souvenir or a gift for someone. I would recommend that you visit the Life Science Centre as it's got plenty to offer for all interests.
My little girls aged 4 and 6 loved the gaming theme this time. We spent hours in the museum and had a good fun! Plenty of other things to do like soft play area, planetarium, 4D motion ride and cafe to sit and relax.
We came with an almost 5yo and ended up spending 7h here. We happily could have been here for even longer. There wasn't a single boring exhibit, they're all interactive and the adults had just as much fun as the kids playing with them. There were entertaining shows throughout the day which also made for a nice break for tired feet. The Game 2.0 exhibit was fantastic, it was great fun playing all of the vintage games we loved when we were kids and watching our child experience them too.
Food-wise, the cafe is a pleasant space but the food is just OK, not really enjoyable. The only downside was that you're not allowed to eat your own packed lunches from home there and there is nowhere else in the building to eat either.
The price was high in our opinion, especially if you have to pay for children too (5 and up) but then we did stay for a very long time and have a good day so it was probably worth it. Once the Game exhibition is gone I wouldn't be sure it would be worth it anymore.
It's a lovely place to being your family and enjoy all the things on offer. How ever I did visit inside for what you can do with the family. I was here around the back of the building for both my Covid19 Vacations.
My daughter had been banging on about visiting here since we booked the hotel, convenient that we were just round the corner. Entrance fee was £17.50 for both of us - a bargain. We loved the 4d polar express ride along with the exhibitions - brain area was the best. The highlight was the planetarium visit to see the stars - absolutely loved it and I don’t really have an interest in stars. Danny the presenter was fantastic and his voice during the whole show was fab, he could read the phone book to me and I’d be happy!! Well worth the money, great time was had by all.
Had a really good time, would definitely reccomend, more catered towards younger children but had a brilliant time even as an adult
Covid vaccine centre, in and out in approx 25 min. Queueing system flows quite well. Booster jab, no queue in and out in 10mins.
Amazing! Staff are really good and informative. The guy doing the talk about satellites was very engaging and it was clear he knows his stuff! My only issue is that it can be busy, sometimes rude people jumping onto interactive exhibits whilst we were waiting.
P.s We actually visited February 2020, I edited the review after noticing a typo! We will be back though for the lego exhibits!
Good education centre. Friendly staff and informative stations for you and your kids to interact to learn. Restaurant is over priced for the level of quality.
Visited today with 3 children aged between 3 and 5. Ideally located in the city centre and reasonably priced. Once inside there is something to entertain the children for hours! There are various shows in the Planetarium and Science Theatre throughout the day. The children watched a Fire and Ice show on the ground floor of the museum and the 2 ladies doing it were amazing! They have an area upstairs designed for under 7s with imagination play areas and dress up. There is an area for over 7s to do science experiments but it looked as if it got very busy so plan your time to go there. Entertainers in the entrance hall teaching circus skills to the children and 2 people on stilts were amazing! We kept our ticket and went out for lunch as the cafe inside was extremely busy....and then entered again with no hassle after lunch. It was an amazing place to visit! Use Times Square car park if travelling in by car.
Brilliant place to visit. Currently doing free child entry with a paying adult so worth it for the school holidays!
It's a great place for things to do for all ages of kids. Good presentations and hands on experiments. The staff are great and enthusiastic in the presentations.
Though, if possible you'll want to avoid days when they are school trips. Events, in the planetarium for example, get delayed to work around them if they are running late and the teachers are useless at keeping them quiet. That did reduce the overall enjoyment of the day.
But, the price is reasonable. Its tempting to get the annual pass to make it better value for money.
Visited second time after year and half. First time we been in there we was so surprised and it was absolutely fantastic day. This time was so different wasn't been that interesting anymore 3d room even been closed down exhibition was literally just on telly to watch a stories about space, planetarium show was so boring more than half time was talking about stars and drawing pictures as last time we been was so interested to see. As last time we said definitely come back this time I wouldn't tell that because was so boring
This is a brilliant day out. Quite a few of the activities are for ages 7+ but we still managed to fill 5 hours with a three year old. Loads of interesting and educational things to do. Also a space where you can eat a packed lunch so you don't have to use the cafe. We will definitely visit again.
Really good day! Kids loved it! (3&4)
£11 per adult and kids go free (1 per paying adult) till may.
The giant moon exhibition was something! Although the kids weren't too bothered after 2 minutes, the adults (2 of us) loved it!
Some of the age "suggestions" were pretty off! Our kids loved the shows that were supposed to be 7+.
Take your own food though! ££££££! (But what else do you expect)
There are pack lunch areas designated.
Personally I think the whole place needs updated, it's all starting to look pretty dated.
Parking cost us £4.50 5 mins walk away in the car park.
Overall £25 for a family of 4 for a full day out, cant really complain!
Great place for kids to explore and learn
Went primarily for the Game 2.0 exhibition. Very good, some excellent bits of retro hardware and game nostalgia. Also did the alien world planetarium and the superhero science workshop. These where very good but goodness knows why anyone would take a baby to this sort of thing. Very busy during half term holiday. Cafe had some tasty if not slightly expensive food.
We really enjoyed the interactive nature of the life centre. We made a flying contraption and got to test it in the wind tunnels. We watched the satellite talk in the theatre which was interesting yet child friendly. My children particularly enjoyed drinking water from the toilet. We were disappointed to have been allowed to get dressed up in the science overalls and goggles to then be asked how old the children were before entering the laboratory area to be told children had to be 7+ to enter. This left my children very disappointed. There was a small sign after which we noticed when we were turned away but perhaps something bigger could be done or have someone man the entrance to the dress up gear rather than inside, to avoid future disappointments. Also, I think this should be reflected in admissions. Children over 7 have an extra zone to access yet my children were 5 and 6 and we pay the same price, yet 4 and under are free.
Spent a full day here with our 6 year old and he loved it. Highlights were the spinning wheels near the entrance, the experiment lab downstairs and the play area upstairs. The staff were very helpful and welcoming too
Lots to interest little ones. Recently took my 4 year old boy and two year old girl, the planetarium had an under 7s showing on which they both enjoyed, there were lots of interactive learning activities and a large play area upstairs. We we're there for around 4 hours but left at closing time, had we went earlier, they would have been happy staying longer
Great fun for the kids. My 6 year old wasn't bored for a second and loved the current robot display.
Live science shows and planetarium are highlights. Lots of other stuff to do.
The cafe was kind of chaotic. For a self-service cafe there needs to be a system and people were just milling about in each others way.
Bit pricey but once you're in you're in and a good 6 hours of entertainment and interesting exhibits.
The current Showcase event (Game On 2.0) is fantastic! If you're a fan of video games in anyway what so ever then it's a must have visit! It's a great day out for the kids and even without the event, the science based experiments, practicals and visual/audio guides make more than worthwhile to go for a very reasonably priced £15.00 per person (£8.00 for under 17s)!!
Not as good as we were expecting.
The best part was the live experiment with the smoking pumpkin that we all enjoyed.
Is it value for money? Probably not with older children like we have.
Great very interesting place to visit! Fascinating really. Prices are great too and staff have always been very welcoming.
Had a great day today. The game on exhibit is awesome. Me and my boyfriend spent hours playing the games and we also went in the planetarium and the 4d motion ride! Probably get annual passes next time to go to more of the exhibits.
Amazing experience. The ticket worth for that experience
Nice museum but is very children focused. Lots of activities for the kids so is a perfect family day out.
If you don't have kids aim to go later in the day and not in summwr. Away from all the kids the planetarium is a must see, highly recommend seeing all the shows you can there. Perfect place to start getting into star gazing. Commentators for the shows are always nice, informative and helpful 👍
Lots of things to do,very educational for adults & children
One of the best places to go for the education/entertainment experience. It has many different things good for anywhere from toddlers to teenagers. It is. nearly guaranteed to have something fun that your child, or even you, will want to play around with and try out.
Took my 4 year old grandson in the Halloween weekend. We had a good day. Social distancing was handled really well. I will definitely visit again.
What a great place for kids and adults. Lots of hands on stations to suit everyone, with shows and a 3d ride. We visited as a group with ages ranging from 6 to 71 and we all enjoyed it. We were only there for 3 hours but could have easily stayed another 2 but had to leave to travel home.
Only reason for the visit was for my 2nd Covid-19 Jab. When I first visited it in March, I was very impressed with it as it is on the site of the old Marlborough Crescent station. Centre is amazing and I will need to visit this again to see the facilities inside
Really good venue. Great for kids and adults alike. Fantastic exhibitions. Reasonably priced and will definitely coming back.
Great place for families of all ages, exhibitions change regularly as well which keeps up the interest of the kids
(covid vaccination)
Showed booking numbers on phone
Was send down corridor to wait for an available space. Sent over to lady at table who checked my medical history. I got injection then went to waiting area where you had to sit for 5min then was able to leave. All in all took 20min at most
Was the nearest place available for my husband to receive his Covid jabs. He had nothing but praise for staff. However on 2nd visit the entrance had changed. No indication where to go. As poor walker it was a challenge.
Good place. Great day out. Have recently removed a few features but still good. Food is relatively cheap. The Annual Pass is definitely worth it! You even get some money off the parking down the road!!!
Changed actual location poorly signed took twice as long from my first visit didn't recognise my personal number even though I had received a reminder 2 hours before my appointment however the. NHS staff & volunteers were as my first visit were excellent
Had fun with family few days ago. Was interesting as for kids as for adults too. Wonderful performances, planetarium, activities. There is place for lunch, activities for little ones too. We didn't like 4D ride, there is terrible smell and we all felt sick after that. In "Life" spent aprox 4 hours, would be longer, but children were tired.
It's pretty cool and will be fun for younger kids
Excellent place to take the kids, fun for all age ranges - even for toddlers if you use the soft play area on the top floor - and there's even room to eat your own picnic down in the basement picnic area. Well worth a visit - I've been there twice, once for the dinosaur exhibition, and once for the robots. Both trips were enjoyed by grandma and her 5 year old granddaughter. As well as our 7 month old, and by us too, from the films to the spinning turntables to the array of robots and the soft play area that we only discovered the second time around. Something for all ages.
Brilliant place to visit interesting and fun! Amazing day out for all ages
Went for the Game On expo. Really well done, amazing building, staff helpful. Unfortunately no where near as good as it used to be. The 4D motion ride was less exciting than the bus into town. But a good place at heart, support it if you can.
We came to see the Animal Inside Out exhibition and hadn't been before. We spent all day there and it was great. There are loads of interactive activities for children that entertained 4 girls between 9 and 13 years old. The planetarium and weird science shows were good and the 4D ride went down really well. Definitely highly recommended.
Very well organised for covid vaccinations. Well done to everyone involved. Anyone leaving negative reviews about the vaccinations need to give there head a good wobble.
I worked on the construction of this millennium project. Little did I ever expect to receive a global pandemic vaccine there! Great place to visit and world leading work done by the scientists.
Went for my Covid 19 vaccine today.
Couldn't fault anyone, organised, friendly and although they see hundreds of folk every day they managed to make me feel safe and welcome.
Many thanks indeed to everyone involved. Thank you xx
Lots to do and learn, really fun for all ages
Plenty to do, literally could've spent all day here. Both kids enjoyed themselves aged 18 months and 5. We even enjoyed a chocolate work shop. Cafe was a bit pricey 2 juices and 2 little cakes costing a tenner but minus that was a great day out. Especially loved the dinosaurs.
Went to visit the life science during half term week as kids go free with each paying adult.
It wasn't too busy and there was plenty of activities, activities, experiments and shows to watch to keep the kids interested.
Always highly recommended to pay a visit if you run out of ideas for things to do with the kids.
Only down side was my 9 year old wasn't able to do the lab area as they need adult supervision and I had 4 year old with me who wasn't allowed in the area.
The Lego dinosaur exhibition is good. Decent models and very informative. The covid measures are clear, well explained, and maintained throughout. Given these measures your visit will be short, not a whole day out, but it's still worth the visit
Great day out for all ages. Interesting things to do. Experiments in the lab suited to all ages. 4d motion ride is fun. Good well priced cafe. We loved the planetarium. Need at least 3-4 hours to do everything.
A great place to visit, been on 5 school trips here now and always look forward to bringing the children for the day. Always organised and planned with accurate and helpful timings which allows the day to run smoothly. Shows, exhibits and workshops seemed to be reviewed regularly as they are often changed and adapted and I believe, always improved! A highlight is the 4D motion ride!
It's ok but for the money there are better places
Took two children here for the ice skating and we thoughly enjoyed it. Will definitely return again.
We took our grandchildren there as the youngest one said he had been with the school but didn't have long enough to do everything. The thing we all wanted to do you go in the 4d ride and after queuing for about 10 minutes were told it wasn't working due to the heat. As that was to be the best part of the day we all felt cheated and thought it would of been nice to get a credit note just to come back in again and experience the 4d ride. As that didn't happen we won't go there again.
Lovely museum plenty for kids to do. Soft play area is good. Could do with some of the bigger exhibitions being updated slightly more frequently for those that have a membership.
Get there early. 2 hours from closing, half the shows missed, half the center closed as the set up new exhibit and it's still full price. It can be expensive there but if your kids are interested in all the science stuff there then I can be worth it.
Definitely geared more towards kids, but the exhibits and displays are still informative and interesting for all ages. The main exhibit changes every 6 months of so, so worth keeping an eye so you don't miss out on a great exhibit. Love the ice rink in the winter, too.
Quite expensive but you can spend all day there if you choose, there's loads to see and do. We went for the robotics exhibit and it was brilliant! The kids absolutely loved it. It's £36 for a family day ticket, if you think you'll be there a few times a year then there's a years family membership for 90 odd pound.
If you are going to be here regularly get an annual pass. Well worth the money and is a great place to come on a rainy day. Lots for kids to do. They are refitting a bit near the front but it should be done soon. Can't wait for the Game On exhibition.
Amazing experience for kids of a broad range of ages. Fun activities, learning while playing, nice soft play area for young kids and on-site cafe for a bite to eat. All the staff here are friendly and knowledgeable all in all a great day out, worth paying for.
It's not the cheapest day out but for children there are lots of age related activities and they do an annual ticket which is worth buying. Kids love the 3d short films, science theatre The poo story is very good and the jokes were funny, older kids can do science experiments while the younger ones can play in the activity centre and do arts and crafts. It's very good value for money.
Great place to take your kids. We went when the Game On exhibition of video games was on last year and absolutely loved it. So much so we bought a season pass and came back a couple more times. There is plenty to keep the little ones entertained, however the main exhibits do change and some are better than others. Would have given 4 stars but entry is quite expensive.
Was there for covid vaccine. Everyone friendly and courteous.
Fantastic family place, lots of fun for everyone
Love the centre for life, always something do to, exhibits are always brilliant and informational. Areas are currently getting updated so there is slightly less to do but still work going in and winter is a great time to go down do some ice skating before or after you've seen the exhibits.
There is also a space upstairs for younger children that is large and has a good variety of things from role play and dress up to drawing and family games.
Do feel like sometimes the exhibits run on a bit long if you have a year pass as I feel you don't get the benefit of the year pass unless you want to go look at an exhibit multiple times but I understand that popular exhibits get extended to attract more people. Also do feel like the food served isn't as good as food else were and is on the expensive side.
There were so many interactive things to do and see. Well worth a trip. Interesting for kids young and old. You can play, make , listen, guess and read. You can interact with staff and find out more about science in its broadest sense. A must do in Newcastle.
Absolutely brilliant kids really enjoyed it came as a large group
A great educational day out for all ages.
They were well organized and friendly, and efficient in their practice on vaccinaion. And where helpful in their advice has to what to expect even though not all people experience the after effects.
So many things for all ages to do
We had the bonus of the robots display as it was the beginning of half term.
Food was ok though we only had from the sandwich section and no hot, though there seemed to be a good variety. Average prices for food.
Large play area upstairs for younger children to interact with, play and build.
Age 7 and above can also do mini experiments in a lab which my daughter enjoyed.
My kids still have their junk model robots they made two weeks on.
This place is amazing, I went and saw allot of amazing things such as: The exhibition ( this changes every few months,) The 4D motion ride ( You basically sit in a chair and it moves around while you watch a screen with 3D glasses. You may also get sprayed with water time to time,) The planetarium ( This shows videos of space and history while you lie back to get a 360 degree view of your surroundings) and many more. The place for eating is satisfactory as they are cleaned now again ( Twice to three times a day) and they are usually busy at lunch. The toilets are great they are usually clean and they are not cluttered in and way it is just empty with toilets, sinks and a few ways to dry your hands. There are a few problems tough such as the 4D motion ride not being up to it's usual standard and the occasional problem with children. The children's play area is good for them as they are located upstairs and out the way of larger kids. It is also educational for children as it simulates real jobs in a fun way. The price for entering the enter of life is quite high but it is worth it for the amazing times you have there.
Great place to take children, with loads of interactive exhibitions, planetarium, 4D cinema and a play area on the first floor. Our son can easily spend a whole day and still not see all the exhibition's or attractions. The cafe also serves great hot food at a reasonable price.
Great place if you and your family are looking for a nice day out. The skating that is on from November till February is great for friends to hang out too. I recommend this for school trips, from the years 4 to 6 (age 8-11). It's a great place to have fun and learn at the same time.
A wonderful small attraction museum. Definitely inspiring for the kids. Also has a cafe inside and plenty if space to sit and enjoy. The museum itself is well maintained and worth the visit with little ones
This has got to be one of the best places to bring kids - or anyone - for a day out. For £12 (for an adult so less for kids I'd think) they would be entertained ALL DAY. I still love going here for the exhibitions which change regularly and I am still massively entertained by the 4d motion ride. There is so so much to see and do here, and in the winter with the ice rink outside as well you would never ever get bored. Every time I go I learn something new and utterly fascinating, Newcastle is so lucky to have this attraction.
Great for all age groups will be going back sometime in the future
Still an enjoyable day out for smaller children although I found it a shame that since our last visit 3/4 of the shop has been given over to Starbucks, the motion ride has permanently closed and numerous interactive displays were broken despite only reopening a fortnight prior to our visit ☹
Why they think it's a good idea to send old people here for their jabs bellies belief..the staff were really helpful and went out of their way to assist us..my mother has recently had a hip replacement and is 82..so walks very badly with a walking frame..I requested a wheelchair and they kindly led us to the front of the queue..but we had to leave at the exit which is around the back..so I was allowed to keep the wheelchair as long as I left it at the entrance.luckily a really nice couple offered to push the frame for me as i couldn't manage the wheelchair and the frame..they even returned it to the centre for me because i couldn't get my mother in the car and return the wheelchair..surely old peopke with limited mobility should be given their jabs at the doctors surgery? Incidentally we did ask this and were told by wideopen surgery that they would not do this..
Great experience as always! They are doing a good job in dealing with COVID-19, booking time slots, lots of hand sanitizer, 2m marks for distancing, and even currently 6 pieces of lego to take home (each person) - to go with the current lego dinosaur exhibition.
Nice spot for lunch and reasonably priced
Went as an adult looking for some science based thrills. It's very much a place to take kids though. Did enjoy the sci fi props display and the theatre where the seats move.
Very interesting but could do with a fresh look at the Science Theatre presentation as follows. Poor sound quality either microphone faulty or diction of presenter. Could do with a big screen background as several of the demos are too small to be fully appreciated by the audience. Quality of sound in the other shows was excellent.
Very informative and learning place for kids and teenagers.
Great for kids aged under 12. We called in to enquire as to whether Life Science Centre was geared to adults and not only young children, we were told that it was. However, after paying the £22 entrance fee (for 2 adults) and spending 20 minutes looking around, it became apparent that the venue is aimed at families looking to entertain young children. So, not an ideal venue for adults.
My children are 5 and 3 we have been today for the first time. I knew there were some age restrictions which is why I have left it so long to visit. We have had an amazing time my youngest had a great time playing in the upstairs area while his sister enjoyed the bang crackle and pop event. They were both able to enjoy most of the activities athough there was a height restriction on the 4D ride my eldest is hoping she will grow an extra inch for her next visit. We will wait a little while to visit again to make even more use of the centre. Still a really great day out.
I used to take my Daughter here. We now take my Grandchildren here. It saves a fortune by buying the annual pass! 🙂 Lots to do and a new interest has just been created which has taken months to complete so that should be good!! 👍🏽😀
Took my 3 year old daughter here for her birthday.
The dinosaur exhibit is what brought us there. She loved every second of it.
The soft play at the top is great for little minds to explore!
I attended for my second Covid jab. Everything was really well organised and I didn't have to wait long for my turn. All the staff I came into contact with were really nice and everything was explained well.
There's usually always something interesting on here but the exhibits are usually a bit small. The main areas of the museum seem to be focused on kids too. Always quite expensive. If you pay around £30 you can get admission for a whole year though so that might be worth it if you're going to make more than one visit.
We havent been to the Life centre for a few year's and a few things have changed but overall its the same. The science show was good fun, the science lab is great for hands on experiments, there is a lot for the kids to build and interact with and there is the motion ride which is average.
The disappointment was the cafe. We went late in the day so it was quiet but still very expensive. The main issue was every ome of the tables was dirty, there were dishes, food, bottles littered everywhere with no staff in sight to help out. I had to find a cloth to clean a table so I could sit have my coffee. Willbgo back in a year or two
Great for kids and adults alike. A bit pricey but look out for offers and also consider a season ticket as the exhibits constantly change so worth returning periodically. It's not actually that big but worth taking your time to really soak in and experience everything it has to offer - then you can easily spend a whole day there. There are two places to eat - a restaurant which I haven't tried and a so-so cafe with a gift shop. Easily accessible - next door to Newcastle Central Train Station and a multi-storey car park.
Great place to visit, previous visits I would rate 5 stars. However this time it was extremely busy so long queues and couldn't get in to the science theatre twice. Kids food in the cafe was also poor quality. Great interactive zones but seem to be less than previous visits.
Was very nervous and overwhelming to get the fourth jab of vaccine
Good place to spend time with kids. For under seven years old they have great playing area and over seven there are lots to do. Planetarium, science theater and so much more.
The quandary here is we had a great time. 4d ride was excellent, planetarium informative, lots of interactive installations and spent over 3 hours here. The "but" is that it's expensive to get in. Not hugely expensive but it's been over 3 years since our last visit and we wouldn't plan to pop in in the near future when there was a number of free museum's around Newcastle. The discovery museum has more exhibits and the hanncock has a planetarium.
A lot of experience to make with kids - however we need to be careful on the timing as it gets easily crowded.
Visited as a Covid Jab Centre staff very friendly and supportive. I think it's great that they are offering their property for this reason. Easily accessible for wheelchair. Thanks
Loved it, lots of stuff to keep kids busy. Hands on experiments we're ace. Friendly and helpful staff. P
I recommended the Centre to my daughter and son-in-law and we took the grandchildren, aged 9, 6, 4 and 4 on Friday, 29 December. The children took to the activities enthusiastically and we spent over five hours there before we had to leave to get the train home (Newcastle Central a very handy few minutes' walk away. The Centre was very good value for money and the indoor picnic area was very helpful in keeping costs down (though unheated!). I wouldn't hesitate to go again.
Quite small but very deceptive. Lots of interesting displays and plenty of interactive things to keep the kids happy. The cafe didn't have much choice so that does let it down a bit. But overall, I thought Centre for Life was a great day out and I would go again.
An excellent choice for a family visit. Helps teach science in a fun and entertaining manner but is also fun for adults! They also have special exhibitors (Usually 3 a year) so there's always something new.
I would advise against visiting during times exhibits are being set up however, as they often have to close much if the public areas.
Great day out with our 5 yr old. He really enjoyed it. It's quite expensive for a one off visit and I feel it's probably better for kids than adults.
Brilliant new exhibition - " Game - on "- PacMan, Simon etc. to play. Also interesting Planetarium show -" Alien Worlds" . Upstairs are lots of hands on activities for under 7's Something for everyone. Expensive but if you live local an annual pass is worth it as some exhibitions change through the year- Museum of the Moon earlier in the year was amazing. Friendly, helpful staff too.
Very good value. We went and it was £19 and that lasted all day. Even if you left the premises for lunch. The dinosaur was the exhibition at this time and it was remarkable. I had great fun at a 40 something as did my 4 year old. The lunch was explainably expensive, but there are alternatives nearby.
Enjoyed it. They had the robot exhibition aswell which was quite interesting. We went in the planetarium but unfortunately we are Deaf and could not understand what they were saying and it seemed long. Staff were very understanding and explained that they do have a transcript device if we had asked and gave us a small refund to compensate this. The little boy loved playing there. Bit expensive though, £15 each. Kids up to 4 are free.
I visited on Thursday along with my two boys whom are 8 and 6.
I wish I lived nearer as this is far superior to anything we have near where we live.
We arrived at 10am and didn't leave until 3.30pm. During that time we viewed, played and watched everything.
The kids loved the ice wall and watching their body parts turn purple in the camera. The Dinosaur display was brilliant especially with the interactive digging site where we uncovered claws, teeth and fish scales.
We watched the 'Poo' show where my 8 year was picked to help out - this was brilliant and very informative. Who knew shooting stars may not be shooting stars?
The science lab was amazing, extracting dna, making carbon, making fake snow and testing the absorbance and strength of different toilet papers.
The astronomy show was again informative and left my child wanting to know more about the constellations.
Only my 8 year went in the 4d motion ride but he assured me it was fantastic.
All in all it was an excellent day and for £28 it was money well spent. Can't wait for our cry visit there when we can visit again and it's definitely worth mentioning for school trips!
An expensive, limited experience. For what it cost - £28 for 2 adults and a child - there's just not enough to see and do. We managed to 'drag it out' so we were there for a few hours, but it felt like we were trying to get our money's worth rather than a naturally fulfilled experience like The Discovery Museum. Also, given the fact my son is 6 meant there were two key exhibits he couldn't do: the young scientists bit and the 4D experience. This, combined with the fact that about a quarter of the available space was closed, meant the whole experience was somewhat underwhelming. Don't get me wrong it wasn't awful or massively expensive, it could just do with being a bit better (or cheaper). Will we go back? Probably not any time soon. It's a shame because it wouldn't take too much effort to make it awesome.
Really nice place, really interactive and great for young children. Shows were good and kept my 4 year olds attention. There was a great play area on the top floor as well.
I have been here many times and it is a great place. It has many sections which each try to interest people in science using fun, interactive methods. It really jalps you learn a lot, and is really fun for children and adults.
They also have themed exhibitions, which last for a while, and are truely amazing. These can be about anything from the development of games over the years to the inside of the human body.
There is also a 4d cinema which has great shows that are really fun.
The café is descent, but the food isn't always the nicest, but on your entry you are given a hand stamp so you can leave and come back later.
Good day out with grandsons aged 6 and 2. Spent over 4 hours and still didn't see everything so will be back.
Only 4 stars due to disappointed with the choice of sandwiches in the cafe. The cheese and tomato was sloppy and overfilled so oozed out and children's sandwich had 2 slices of ham in the large bun. Sliced bread would be better. Coffe was cool too.
Very interesting, I would even say fascinating, place to visit. Wide range of exhibits and things to do. Only downsides are a) the adult price seeing as it's an exhibition for kids and b) I took my grandchildren during the school today's when it was very busy; this meant waiting to get on most things and kids don't like to wait!
It's an amazing place to visit with your family on the weekend. Friendly and helpful staff, exciting expositions, prices are reasonable and there is also a restaurant and café if you get hungry during the day. Right now you can also find a public skating ice rink in front of the center, open every day and it's a great fun! Absolutely recommended.
It's a fun place for the children with lots to do. The only distractions are the prices for food and the lack of good meals. The variety for children under 7 was most disappointing. The lift needs to be looked at seriously!
I have been here about 6 times and I'm always impressed. The kids love it at any age, the exhibits are always changing. I was particularly impressed with the children's planetarium show last time I visited.
Good for the kids and lots to look at, but pricey.
Went to see a dinosaur exhibition, and apart from a couple of animatronics (which were great) and a few artifacts, there wasn't much to it. I expected a larger exibit - considering that the natural history museum in London is free - however, what was there was great and to a high standard.
The planaterium was fantastic and the cafe was great too - adults £5 and kids £4 per meal.
Staff were friendly and courteous and there was enough to keep an average 4-9 year old entertained for a few hours, but we had a 13 year old with us who enjoyed it throughout.
Covid-19 walk in vaccination centre and some other facilities located on this site
The kids always love a visit with interactive exhibits, hands on experiments and science shows. There is a good variety in the changing exhibitions. It is focused towards the younger visitor and a bit more for adults would be good. It is also a bit expensive.
Fantastic displays with interactive learning for kids of all ages. The centre has a picnic area for a packed lunch or restaurant and cafe serving hot food and drinks. Party packages available. The 4D motion ride is not for the faint hearted and visiting the seasonal ice rink is a must ! An excellent day out for all the family.
It's a little on the pricey side if you are just an adult visiting, especially as I only really wanted to see the main exhibition (Robots). It's definitely pretty good value for families with children though, plenty to see and do. I could easily see kids being occupied for most of the day with the experiment room, where you can actually play in a pretend laboratory.
The museum itself is an interesting building, worth a look just for the architecture alone.
The brain experiments/acivities were really fun where you test yourself and learn about how the brain works. The Robot exhibition was excellent, very well put together and had a lot to see. I wasn't sure whether a couple of the robots were working properly, but I'm sure that's just the nature of the technology, even the most advanced computers have glitches from time to time. There was one that looked like it was suposed to walk to you, but it was just stood still in one spot. The 4d experience with Rusty the Robot was a little lack luster, the best part about it was the school kids who seemed to be having a blast screaming at every twist and turn. Maybe I'm just getting older, or maybe I have been spoilt by my trips to theme parks like Disney, where their 4D rides are excellent. There was nothing wrong with the actual tech, it just seemed like there wasn't much of a story or any substance to it, like it was just shoehorned in.
I didn't buy anything , but the centre has a cafe which is handy if you or the kids need a break from play. You're able to go back into the centre as they stamp your hand.
The gift shop is also well-stocked with all things science and has some great items for both kids and adults. I found a few things I'd like to buy for the home if I had the space.
Just went for a vaccine booster... But that was all incredibly well organised.
So relaxing with furry friends cost six pounds but your donation goes towards well being of cats plus it's fun
Fun place to take kids with lots of fun things for them to see and do. Been there before and had a great time. This time we were there for a music event and sound system wasn't quite up to it but still very enjoyable.
Went to there Dino Jaws event which was super, even got to test or strength against the jaws of a t Rex! Had lunch in cafe which wasn't too badly priced and a good choice of food. The upstairs play area though was the biggest hit for our boys (aged 2 and 4) they would have been happy there all day.
Cracking day out with my 3 year old grandson. He loved the dinosaurs. Loads of other activities to keep him interested. Nice spot of lunch too. All for 20 quid. Cant go wrong.
Great museum and experience. More geared towards a young audience but they will occasionally have adult 'lates' that are well worth the price of admission. The entry price might be a little steep for some but they make up for this partly by providing plenty of space to eat packed lunches.
The main hall changes occasionally but on the whole is the same with each visit. Recently they've added an interactive 'Experiment Zone' that we all enjoyed.
There is a large section of the museum that changes a few times of the year and always worth a look. I particularly enjoyed the Game 2.0 exhibit. If you ever have any questions while there talk to one of the staff as they all tend to be very knowledgable about the exhibits.
Great really nice security guard who agreed with me regarding the nonsense of wearing a mask for a sickness that 99.4 percent of people recover from. BTW no I never wore a mask while inside the venue.
Great place for kids. Lots of interactive things to do for both young and older kids. Bit pricey if you have a few to pay for, but if you've travelled by public transport on the day of admission and show your ticket, then a child gets in free.
Great inside day out. Kids loved it, most exhibits worked unlike many other places, very enthusiastic and happy staff. Plenty of things for everyone to do
I came all the way from Australia to see the Animals Inside Out exhibition. I was very impressed with the layout of the building, especially in terms of disability access. The staff were warm and friendly, especially Helen, the lady presenting in the Science Theatre. Definitely worth a visit!
It has lot to do for small little kids inside the Life Science Center and also has Ice-skating option just outside the Life Science Center which is an amazing experience. (Students have discount on ice-skating just carry your School/Uni Id card.Do visit with your family and friends.
Great day out, good for all age groups. Kids aged4-12 all found it to be interesting. Small picnic area downstairs. Rest rooms good. Lots of hands on interesting exhibits to do.
It's interesting but sometimes the events they have there are more aimed at children. The staff are not always nice too. The 4D ride is awesome though and so is the ice skating when it's there.
Brilliant day out for young and old alike. Plenty of interactive sciencey stuff for kids to enjoy as well as a nice little play area. The exhibitions are always fabulously informative and well designed as well.
Everything worked. We went lster in day at 3pm. Had a blast we saw sSecret World of Gases and Esmay (SP? ) who presented the session was great.
The kids loved the 4D ride, though I had a bit of motion dislocation 😀, and it was great fun.
The planetarium show was really knowledgeable and relaxing. It's nice to have 25 minutes relaxing in the dark staring at the stars. No wonder astronomers are so chilled.
All parts of visit were great. If we had more time we would have done the experiment zone. As it was we walked with the dinosaurs who leave on 15 April to be replaced by the robot installation in May!
Will be back and would recommend. Great for kids and 3 hrs plus of fun and excitement. Kids were buzzing afterwards and so was I. Go see it.
The museum is amazing currently is the moon exhibition which was still in construction when I visited. It has many things for everyone. Very interactive and educational. The store has a few cute trinkets but it is in the expensive side.
I've been to the Life Centre three times over the last year and each experience has been awesome. There's a nice balance between education and fun, I have a great time every time I go and I always learn something new. A great day out for kids and adults, thoroughly recommend!
Really fun science museum, I enjoyed it even as an adult.
Such a good place for families! Lots for kids to do, learn and explore! They currently have a robot exhibition which is really interesting. My little sister loved it.
Went when I was a teenager and wasn't so centred around children. Now seems to be focussed on kids so not much to interest my boyfriend and I. Also, cafes cover a lot of the ground floor. Don't think I would go again without little kids.
Experience depends on what exhibit is on and how busy it is. GAME ON exhibit was amazing ... current animals inside out is educational and certainly interesting. Fair price for what they have on .. give the 4D ride a go too
Fantastic for the kids. 3 year old struggled with some of the things and a lot of the 'activities' were too high up as she's only small so we had to lift her up quite a lot, although there were some step-stools to stand on. 7 and 8 year olds absolutely loved it!
Fun for my son. Bit pricy on single day entry's.....but read on the Centre's website before visiting that if you travelled by public transport my son's entry (normally £8!) was free!!
Public Transport - Free Child Entry Offer
If you’re travelling to Life by bus, Metro, train or coach, show your valid travel ticket or smartcard when you arrive at reception to claim free entry for one child per full paying adult (excludes concessions).
Not valid in conjunction with any other offer or promotion. This offer is non-transferable and cannot be used as part payment towards a membership. Certain events and activities are excluded, including ice skating. Management reserve the right to refuse admission. Offer valid for the day of travel only.
Always fun things to interact with for all ages
What a great place! Fun for the whole family! The kids had an absolute blast here and the adults did too. The location is also nice - a lot of cool places within walking distance to get a bite to eat as well.
Loads of interactive science-y bits, and it has a very cool lab section for kids with a few different simple experiments to do. For me, that's one of the best bits. I loved the planetarium and the robots too
Bit expensive but worth it if the 3d ride is on. Interesting for kids and adults alike. Makes science fun, sounds like a tag line but it honestly does. Very interactive and immersive displays. Last time I was there there was a weather reporting thing which made you appear on the screen. The planetarium is beautiful. I miss the climbing wall from the games bit but still loads of fun things to do up in the game area. Definitely reccomed a visit if you haven't been, writing this is making me want to go back actually. Good thing about it is, you can go back numerous times as it is always changing and developing. A great place and an asset to Newcastle.
It was a fun few hours out, but as it is made for children. Adults will find it amusing, but not a stretch for their intellect.
As there a lot of hands on things to do it was nice to not have to read board after board of information.
Had my Covid Vaccination here. Very well thought out, staff were efficient. Looks a great place to come and visit in "normal times"
I went ice skating with a group of my friends on the 10th of Feb and it was really fun. Thanks a lot to Ruby, one of the people working on the rink, she taught a few of my friends to skate (even thought they were 17). So thanks again to Ruby by showing us up with her skating skills. We enjoyed it thoroughly, thank you 🤩
It's a fantastic place of Newcastle university. You know medical science made easy here through model system. Many many science facts are shown here in the form of models. Very happening place. Good is awesome. It's at walking distance from metro . Good place. Drinks are fantastic. You can play , playwin and poker here.
An awesome place for the family and for adults wanting to have a different experience and learn something new, or forgotten! I can highly recommend the late night attractions (adults only I'm afraid), Halloween is always a great time to check it out.
Not to be overlooked, has something for everyone!
Pricey for what was there. Especially as if a school group is there you have a slim chance of going on the 4d ride or in the planetarium. Experiments are only really suitable for over 7s which left our younger child (very mature for her age) really upset.
Went to see the body worlds exhibition with colleagues and was impressed by the facilities and the friendly staff. I can see why this would be an excellent place to take kids to learn about the life sciences. Make sure you do the 4D ride, it's awesome!
Lots of fun. I took my 3 year old. I think that he is a little too young for a few of the activities but he enjoyed the young explorer zone and a film in the planetarium. Will be taking him back.
Good place to visit, took my children and my autistic brother to the retro video game convention. They loved it. Could be get on the 4D ride as apparently the weather was "too hot" for it to run.
Entertaining, not as much science as I remember when I went when I was younger but they do have a massive retro acarade with just about everything from an Atari to a HTC vive so that's fun. Great day out if you have kids though parking can be costly though we parked at Granger town parking as opposed to the one that's gets a discount on your ticket. Not sure which one that is.
Good for kids but not much for adults. Planetarium show was nice but it's only 20 min. There is a 4d movie which is ok but way too short (5 min). We saw everything in less than an hour.
Fabulous attraction in the city centre. Wonderful for children and a great place to visit while out shopping, try it.
You won’t be disappointed. Dry very impressed indeed. And so proud to have it here in Newcastle
Fascinating facts and very entertaining. £12 adult entry but you can spend the whole day being amazed, kids love this too. Educating and fun
Amazing place. Lots of on hands stuff for all ages. Super helpful staff. Spent nearly 4 hrs there and went so quickly. 2 adults 2 children £20 and £4 in car park close by.
I believe this is an excellent place for kids under 12 years old. The 4D movies are always good. Reasonable price if you do the annual membership.
We visited on our way home so we had only 3 hrs of which we spent 45 mins lunch. The robots on display were good, not sure if it is a permanent display. Kids enjoyed themselves. Setup is similar to Nemo in Amsterdam, with several do it your self excersizes and experiments. Didn't have time to do any of the theaters. Parking within walking distance. Take care to take the correct exit.
Took 2 children 5 & 7 to see dino exhibition which they enjoyed. Also took their great grandmother there was plenty of room for her wheelchair to follow them around and watch them play. Lots of different areas with various learning opportunities. Only thing is I think it is quite expensive for a family pity they don't have a similar set up to Beamish where you can visit more than once.
This place is awesome for people who are interested in creativity and standing out. This place ranges from people displaying there inventions to people showing nice science tricks. Personally I think that the best time to go is when it is the makers fair with everyday people invited to come show what they have got to offer.i personally took part in the makers fair teaching people how to create great lenses out of bottles.this can be either profitable or non profitable money wise. However most things there are free. Some things are just for display while others are things you can contribute in.the place is very big with friendly staff. The thing that I like most about this place is that it is full of surprises. Also every so often famous people such as colinfurze are invited. Some of my favourite things where the Pepsi show the drone wars and the cool science tricks scattered everywhereI have taken my family there 3 times before and I definitely will be going there again.
Took our 3 year old grandson to see the lego dino experience, it was a good time had by all, shame the rest of the Life Science Centre wasn't open as we would have stayed long, little man enjoyed it and that's all that mattered
Amazing place for family day
Wonderful place full of exciting science things to do for all the family
Exhibitions change regularly so it's worth checking in regularly.
If you buy a family annual ticket you also get discounts in the cafe and shop any time you visit.
It's ok wasn't as good as I thought it would be.
My son is five and loved it, we only left when he got tired 😀. The onsite cafe is decent ans the exhibits are good in both an educational and fun sense, the only drawback is the entry price, it's not cheap but you get what you pay for I guess.
Expensive entry to the museum, pretty much always under construction amd not really a lot to see.
Ok day out for kids if you've ran out of other choices.
Don't think it advertises the genetic hospital side to it enough on the museum front end. Groundbreaking research and really pleasent medical staff and doctors... knowing its funded by the museum tickets makes it worth the entry fee I suppose.
Pre school day is perfect for letting the little ones free to explore. The staff are all great and there are lots of hands on sessions to keep everyone entertained.
Really good. Staff are great and very helpful, a little on the expensive side and would probably be better off with a year pass and visiting a few times especially if your kids have an interest in science.
Pricey visitor attraction with a fixed display about the science of life plus touring exhibitions which change every couple of months. Watch out for events such as Maker Faire which make the combined ticket with admission feel more reasonable. We got bored after an hour or two - the venue is quite small compared to London attractions. There's a couple of food outlets but they where underwhelming when we visited in previous years. The gift shop has some quirky stuff, including cheaper 'pocket money' items.
Absolutely loved this place, you could spend all day here. My boys are 8 and 6yr and they had a blast. The staff are so friendly and happy to help. Well worth every penny.
Very good, but better for older kids as there's height restrictions on the main ride and most other activities are for over 5s. My boy is 4 and we still enjoyed it
Had abgreat educational day out with kids . Enjoyed alot
A really good family day out. We've been going since it opened and they're always changing what's on offer. We went in December when there was an ice rink too. It was great value for money as well.
Lots to do and see, my 2-year old was a bit young to understand and take part in things but didn't stop him for running around and enjoying himself. £17 pp is quite steep mind
We went along to get our Covid Jabs, its running like a well oiled machine, the staff are so well organised and it's a really pleasant atmosphere
Thank You NHS
The centre itself was brilliant. The presentations by the staff were fabulous and just the right length of time each time, the longest being 25 minutes, for a nearly 7 year old. Will be back. 😊
A really lovely exhibition. You definitely need to bring a student card if you apply for a discount and the main exhibition is closed at the moment. Especially suitable for younger children
Has a lot to offer and very interesting exhibits to display. I would recommend keeping an eye out for the different themes that come to the centre. One that was memorable that I attended was the animal exhibit.
Great day out with kids
There was a vaccination walking center, realy nice staff... perfect
This is a brilliant place for me to bring my two grandbabies..... they love the soft play area upstairs... and once you've bought an annual ticket you can visit as many times as you like... also the exhibition downstairs is a load of fun
I was there for second covid jab. Quick in and out within about 25-30 minutes. No long queue to wait in which was the case with the first jab when I was there for more than an hour.
Really loved Game 2.0 brought back a ton of memories which I was able to share with my daughter. Watched a short film in planetarium which was cool, first time in a planetarium.
Was a good few hours spent here, but quite pricey for the amount of time spent here. What is there is great, but for the price I had expected there to be more.
Staff member in the science show was so enthusiastic and great.
Went for my second vaccine jab very good just as the first one was in and out in 15 minutes could not have been bettered great place to visit. Excellent service.
Great for kids and grownups. Lots of interactive activities and shows. The planetarium is nice and a great place for the tired daddy's to get a quick power nap 😉💪
I went there with a 8 years old & he loved it. It's really good for both kids & adult. You can play together or do your own thing but it's more fun to play together!
Visited to receive my 2nd COVID vacination, administered by Chinese nurse that had volunteered after her full shift at RVI.
My five year old daughter loves it. She was delighted to be able to go on the Polar Express ride; we were both impressed.
Absolutely astonishing and amazing I love every single trip to the life center and there are so many fun ways they introduce science into your life its honestly one of my favourite places to go.
Massive amount of interactive exhibits. And Game On 2.0 was great. We were in there for 4 hours, which is value for money too.
Great day out for all ages. The variety of guest exhibits is great, and the changeover in planetarium shows means no two visits are the same.
Many of the exhibits didn't work. Most of the interactive aspects are enticing and interesting but given the amount that wasn't functioning and the fact that the staff all looked utterly miserable, this place is hiddeously overpriced.
Reasonable, if not stunning, range of science including live chemistry experiments to perform yourself. The café is grim but priced accordingly. Took the kids there because it was raining: glad we did.
Excellent experience, lots to do and see, good food and drinks available, well worth a visit
Took my son for his birthday, what a fantastic day, the activities lasted all day so you got your monies worth, picnic area available if you want to take your own food but also a cafe
Visited for my second Covid vaccine and the set up was fantastic. Great job guys!
Brilliant ice skating, tad expensive but it is only once a year!
Great place for kids and adults if they are interested in science. if all exhibits are viewed it can take a full morning or afternoon. Very educational.Nice cafe.
Came during half term and entry was free for kids which was a bonus! So much to do and lots to get their little enquisitive minds going! Definitely would recommend.
Great place for kids over 7. Youngest couldn't join in with all.yhe activities.
Lots of science experiments to take part in as well as a nice and reasonable cafe.
Quite a few of the older exhibits are broken or cordoned off. The frozen wall was melted, magnets not strong enough to hold gears, speaker doesn't work on the optical digital connector thingamajig etc.
We went with 2 children under the age of 5, who were free admission. My wife and I paid £15 each, which is a bit steep when exhibits aren't working and you're mainly there to keep an eye on your children.
We may go again when the kids are much older, just wish someone on the desk had informed us that there's not much for small children to enjoy.
The staff work really hard and are happy to help.
We visited in the winter whilst spending a couple of days away. We had a lovely time walking reliving my youth and i wasn't disappointed.
Probably meant more for junior school age children, although it had a great exhibition on computer games when we visited and so I got to re-live the '80s playing some old arcade machines and games consoles
The life centre is currently closed due to covid 19, its only open for covid vaccination which l received hence Google asking for a review but once covid restrictions lift I'm sure this would be an interesting place to visit
Such a good day out for all the family, a great range of activities for all ages. Looking forward to trying out the adult only late night sessions.
Had a few intresting things and my two boys enjoyed the soft play area upstairs, but was quite hard to find something my 4year old could do or understand, he wanted to go on the 4d ride and was all excited and we waited in line to find out when we got to the door he wasnt big enough, then dressed up in the white coat and goggles that was placed at the begining of the science lab and he was excited to go in but when we got to where you go in the lab he was turned away as not 7?? We also thought the dinosaurs were here and he was looking faward to seeing them and found they have been replaced with robots that we couldnt get close to, or get to do anything, we also found the cafe was quite expensive .
Had a great time exploring the Dinosaurs. Picnic area feels like you have been hidden away. Overall a great family day out.
A very interesting museum with things for all ages. There are always great exhibitions on and the planetarium is excellent. Very friendly staff.
Excellent place to take the kids. Always new things going on. Recent revamp is brilliant. Have got a lot of milage out of our annual passes. Something there for all ages. Bit hectic during the school holidays but in reality, where isn't?
Went for my jab, everything was well organised and spaced out. The volunteers and nurses were all friendly and nice
Not much on as they were building a new exhibition when we went. Dropped the usual price down to £8 due to this. This place is more aimed at children of all ages, not adults.
One of the best museums in the Newcastle area, but the 4d Motion ride was disappointing (the apollo one). I had some pizza, but it wasn't the best. Everything else was amazing!
Great place to visit. Cutting edge exhibitions!
Life Science Centre is a fascinating place. I last paid a visit when the Bodyworlds vital exhibition was on and it was absolutely and totally amazing… maybe even life changing.. I've started thinking about myself in a totally different way! Not only do you get to experience a great exhibition but the centre itself is grew too, they have a totally interactive and creative curiosity zone where you can spend time being a scientist and a musician and an artist or builder. The motion ride is great fun too of course, but for me the real jewel in the crown is the planetarium! They have alsorts of shows from incredible animations to live sky shows.. I love it!
Great and well organised had my covid jab today few people complained becose they had to walk a few extra metres to enter how very sad I thought well done centre of life for keeping us all safe 👏👏👏👏 and so pleased I've had my jab today
Went with my 13 year old, we found plenty to keep us entertained for a full day. Personally I thought the entry price was reasonable and the food in the cafe was lovely and good value.
As you know it's closed due to pandemic. Visited for my Covid vaccine 20 minutes wait but they were very good all the people there were very professional and friendly
Great couple of hours on the activities.
Fantastic place to visit the polar express ride was awesome a must if you are to visitor during the winter months also ice skating was fantastic a little busy but worth wait but the niece was not impressed with santa at all
Only went this time for my covid vaccination, all staff brilliant, be happier when its back open as the life centre with its exhibitions
Video game exhibition currently running is brilliant
Brilliant place esp for li'l ones. My kiddo jus fell in love wth the place esp the lovely monster video.she learnt a lot about planets, science, human brain etc. It as has a real chunk a stone from moon.amazing!!
It is a wonderful place, touch on experience, interactive learning!!!! Great time for the whole family! We enjoyed the experiment zone and the planetarium!
Had a great day here with lots to see and do, kids aged 2,4 and 7 all had a great time spent the whole day took a picnic played, saw and learned all day long.
Plenty to see and do. Loved the Planetarium and the Bodyworlds exhibition. The place is geared towards families so be prepared for large numbers of noisy children!
There was lots of interesting exhibits to explore, and places to go which were safely interactive.
