Reviews of Maelmin Henge and Trail
Brilliant place for families to explore and maybe picnic. There is a trail cut through the longer grass and trees.with information on the history. Very interesting great for kids to find the next part of the trail. The wooden henge would be great for them to run around in. Not to long a walk and free.
Absolutely superb, thought provoking and well organised. Great to see a replica henge bringing these mysterious sites alive.
It was near by to our caravan site so we took a drive to walk around. It was so nice and informative, the sign posts were amazing and telling of the archaeology the site has seen. The site has inspired me to look at more of the history. Me and my brother especially loved the wood henge after discovering it was a "cult centre".
We completely drive past this. But found it eventually. Was a nice little walk regardless. Lots of signs about the history.
Nice place to stop briefly, well worth following the boards to learn the history of the place. Not much else here.
Amazing how the site is next to the main road, yet so hidden from view. Worth a visit. So much history in small field. Clear and easy to read information boards spread throughout the well kept site. The door to the house is push to open, not pull.
If you like anything historical this is a place worthy of a visit.
Plenty of information about the area and it's history along with nature trails.
Nice reconstruction of a wooden henge.
Giving this lovely place 3 stars cannot really describe what is there, but in some ways the fact that there is not very much there is its attraction!
The small site is set aside to describe the stages of settlement in this extraordinary area that has been the seat of Kings, the nursery of Christianity in Britain and a very good place to live in that odd time where Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age and Roman come and go and ordinary people just take care of their own hearth and home, their neighbours and extended family just like we do.
Nice little spot with educational signage and a couple of reconstructions of ancient buildings. Good place for short walk in woodland and fields with parking and free entry.
This is a brilliant little place to stop for an hour if you are in the area. The information boards and artwork are great. Get a feel for how the neighbourhood has changed over the past 6000 years!
Amazing place.....
Love a good henge. Plenty of story boards too
An interesting stop off just by the road - lots of interesting history, both ancient as well as the nearby RAF base that was important in WW2. The trail is good for families, the Henge is a clever reconstruction that means you can climb over and walk around. Plenty of parking, a good place to stop and picnic.
Lovely short walk with really good displays taking you through the history of the area.
A lovely walk around the henge. If someone cleaned the signs it would help
Really fascinating walk, well signed and annotated. Needs some maintenance but excellent
No entrance charge. Very interesting and good informative notice boards.
It's an easy and interesting walk..... you can take 10 minutes or a couple of hours!
We visited today and the henge is really impressive. The kids loved running around it and the adults found it interesting.
Great little trail, very informative with the little information boards dotted around the trail. Loved it!!
This is a reconstruction of a range of local archaeological sites with simple explanations of the structures and lifestyles of the people who lived there at different times in the past.
Very interesting local history discussed within the wider historic context. Worth a visit.
I love the interpretation boards here! Even now you can see why it was a great place to settle
Fascinating place to read all about the history the struggles the way of life how far it went back in time just very educational
Wort to read the information boards to get whole picture of the reasons for the settlements in the area
Interesting little walk... Lots of info about tge surrounding area..
A nice little walk with lots of information.
Good for a quick walk round reading the information boards.
Slightly disappointing interpretive trail and recently constructed henge.
Worth a visit of in the area.
Visited a wile ago. Very interesting
Very quiet and peaceful trail
Only if you're passing... !
This is no longer what it might be - a victim of cost shaving.
