Reviews of Seven Stories

Amazing centre for children's literature, stories and informative exhibitions. Cafe, toilets, baby change and bookshop on site. Cafe and bookshop free admission. Very well presented and ideal due families and younger children. Full of attractive, well designed themed exhibitions on children's literature which regularly change. Would recommend, ideal for 2 - 11 year olds.
P. G.
Lovely museum to lose yourself in many worlds from children's book. Great cafe and interactive exhibitions for all ages of children. Thoroughly recommend checking it out.
J. B.
Great night at the late shows. My son loved it. The story tellers were the highlight of the evening.
C. B.
Fantastic day out. We did the tiger who came to tea event. Food was great and the staff were amazing. Our 6 and 3 year old thoroughly enjoyed the interaction with the tiger, who did an amazing job of making the whole experience memorable.
J. W.
Loved it. The kids had a great time - highly interactive and great selection of books to walk away with

I went with my 19month old, he loved it and was able to roam around freely, the cafe even had a little play area. Nice stress free day out.
A. G.
Always one of our favourite spots to visit. Great selection of books on sale, lovely café and coffee shop and the most polite, friendly and welcoming staff. Seven Stories was one of the places we missed most during lockdown. Happy to be able to enjoy it again!
D. F.
Bookshop and children's book museum - really interesting for both adults and children with a good cafe too!
S. G.
Really impressive, especially the lady dressed as a witch trying to bring the stories to life for the children
Z. S.
Lovely museum and bookshop. Liked the winnie the witch area with the cauldron and enhancements. No charge to come in and there was storytelling going on across the day. It was our first visit and wasn't too sure what to expect.
J. A.
This is one of those places that I've been meaning to take the kids to for ages but never quite got around to it. I've missed a total gem! took them o a busy half term weekend and it was busy as you would expect, but the kids had a blast. the building is really nice coffee shop was great and its was a really nice afternoon out for everyone :)
M. H.
Brilliant place in a great location of the Ouseburn Valley and especially the Harry Potter room
J. R.
They do great things to get kids of all ages excited about books and reading. There are 5 levels to explore (7 if you include the entrance/shop and the cafe). Each level brings different experiences and there are opportunities everywhere to read. The story time was super interactive and the kids adored it.
The only downside is that all of the parking in the area was max stay 4h. I came with a baby and a child. After stopping to feed and change the baby and for lunch with the older child, we didn't end up with much time left. We had to rush around to get back, meaning we didn't get to enjoy most of it as much as we would have liked.
S. B.
It’s a great place for both adults and children.
There is free WiFi, a cafe and coffee shop.
The staff are excellent and really want you to enjoy the experience. The a zone for small tots to interact and have stories read. An exhibition on floor 5 which changes. There was one recently all about comics. The children could read comics, some quite old as well as draw there own. Story time is fantastic with some staff dressing in the characters.
My wife and daughter have been many times.

Great venue for those who love children’s books and those with little ones. Perhaps a little limited when it comes to teens.
Excellent bookshop contained within with great staff. If you need anything do speak with them.
They have some great events on with authors and illustrators which are always wonderful to see and do add to your story time with the children if they’ve seen or spoken with the author or illustrator.
Exhibitions change with regularity, our girls have loved all of them, everyone gets something different from each. I’ve enjoyed seeing my children’s reaction to the interactivity of books that I read as a child myself.
Well worth a look but you’ll get best value from an annual pass.
E. C.
Amazing. Immediately upgraded to an annual pass. So much for kids of all ages to do. Love The Attic and story time. The cafe has healthy options for kids and adults and is very reasonably priced. The staff are so friendly and enthusiastic. I can't wait to go back.
N. G.
A lovely lively place for little ones. It's a great place for children to use their imagination. A varied selection of books on each floor and all the staff are so enthusiastic and friendly. Our two year old loves this place and we've been quite a few times in the last few months.
M. R.
Visited seven stories with my 5year old son, he enjoyed it. You can easily spend few hours there drawing, reading or listening to storey telling. The staff are friendly. The cafe was nice enjoyed the hot chocolate and cake.
J. A.
Stunning store. Book selection is amazing. Staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable on the selections of books which they sell. They can offer recommendations based on the ages you are buying for! I also really enjoyed the cafe here which offered fairly priced drinks, cakes and also some nibbles suitable for babies which are on baby led weaning diets
L. D.
My little boy loves it here. It's one of his favourite places. I love how friendly and helpful all the staff are on my last visit I had to take an important call whilst at the front desk. My little boy was anxious to get in side and the lady working at the desk came round to speak to him in his pram and entertain him for a few minutes whilst I finished my call. Thank you so much you lovely life saver lady. Good job team.
A. C.
Lovely concept for a museum and well executed, in a great corner of the city. Friendly staff and nice facilities. Enjoyment will probably be based on how much your kid engages with the featured stories - Michael Morporgu isn't for the younger ones, Aliens Love Underpants is!
L. W.
Brilliant. Visited with my 8yo son & 7yo friend. They both loved it. Can't wait to return to use the Aliens Love Underpants sensory room with my 1yo daughter. Was served by a lovely lady, Sharleene, who dealt with me spending book tokens from 2 different gift cards and cash. We weren't able to get hot drinks so had to settle for a £1.90 bottle of Coke!!
M. B.
A great space and lovely staff, but I took my son who is under 2 and while he enjoyed exploring the space I didn't feel there was a huge amount to keep him engaged.
It would be great when he's a bit older, but I think we'll hold off on a return visit.
H. M.
7 Storeys/Stories is listed on Google maps as a children's bookstore, but it's really an event and exhibition space with the opportunity to purchase examples.
The place throngs with storytelling, especially for younger children (and their parents). Where it isn't in full action, the exhibits are doing their best to come to life on their own.
Quite a few steps but you can use the lift. A wonderful place, even if the kids have left home and grandchildren not arrived yet
S. S.
Absolutely wonderful place to visit. We loved exploring the exhibit and definitely enjoyed the cake and story after!
B. H.
Perfect place for families to spend a full day, wth creative activities and exhibitions of all sorts. A very inspiring place for children and will rekindle even the most jaded of adults' love for reading. Nice little cafe and a great location clearly home to a number of creative businesses and venues by the river.
T. B.
Excellent place to visit. Seven Stories means seven floors of fun for varying ages. Library with great selection of books. Reasonable priced food in cafe. The whole experience for children and adults was a great day out. Will return
J. C.
Lovely coffee and story time/baby book club
G. R.
Great day out for young kids. Loads of different things happening on each floor with plenty of books for the kids to read. Story times are great and there are 2 reasonably priced cafes to get a coffee also.
D. F.
Encourages kids to love books and stories. What more could you ask for? Staff are enthusiastic and there is enough to keep kids and adults occupied.
My only issue is that the price of entry means this is out of the reach of a lot of parents and is basically a middle class luxury. If something could be done in terms of grants to make this more accessible that would be fantastic.
E. L.
Had a fabulous day. Storytelling was first class especially the 10.30 under 5's. Elena was brilliant with the children and as an over 65 I thought it was great too. Overall would definitely recommend anyone to visit.
E. P.
Lovely place to bring the little ones, a real hidden gem!
D. M.
Literary adventures on all 7 floors of this wonderful museum/book shop. A place to come if you love books, and to share that love with young children. From arts and crafts to story time to exhibitions and book signings, there is always something magical to be discovered.
D. D.
This is an excellent place to take young children. The entrance fee is quite pricy so if you live locally I'd recommend getting an annual pass. My family goes at least once a month and our children never tire of it.
P. C.
Great selection of literature-based activities including toys, dressing-up, art/craft - and of course exhibitions about books! Well-stocked children's bookshop. The entry fee is perhaps a little steep for families though.
R. R.
A really incredible place, slightly overwhelming for my two under fours but they loved the dressing up opportunities, chance to craft and colour their own dinosaurs and free story time. If we were closer, I'm sure we'd join for the year and become regulars.
I. C.
Our kids love the storytelling performances in the beautiful attic, the crafting activities, the bookshop and the exhibitions of wonderful original art from children's stories. A great rainy day out.
R. W.
Fantastic place to take little ones - story time is great and there are various exhibitions for them to run around in. Coffee OK and they do a wide range of cakes catering to gf and vegan!
A. N.
Excellent place to keep young ones entertained! My boy joined from 9 months old. We particularly like the sensory rooms and storytime with the fantastic storytellers!
J. H.
Great place for kids to explore and use their imagination. Craft corners and great books on sale. Good cafe though could use more seating as gets quite busy. Payable parking near.
N. A.
Absolutely cracking place, could spend all day here. Loads to do for babies through to 7/8yr olds. But even us adults love the storytellers! And whst a fab location. Highly recommended :)
F. S.
Really lovely place however i took my 2 year old boy and i felt alot of it went over his head. I would recommend children age 4 -10 they have more activities in school holidays too. But there is limited parking.
D. S.
An absolutely lovely place, and something that I miss in London. I only wish their schedule of events skewed more towards the weekend. (I also wish the place was easier to get to without a car, but that can't be helped).
M. U.
Lovely place! The boys loved to explore every room and where thrilled by aliens love underpants! Super for little children, not too overwhelming and loads of great books everywhere to read!
H. F.
Exhibitions not open yet but shop and upstairs cafe open with good selection and lovely stafd
N. F.
A great place for a day out with the kids. 7 floors (hence the name) of different themed floors, books, dressy up and story telling. There's a cafe that's reasonably priced, with nice food.
J. V.
As a book-lover and a parent, this place is perfect. It's a little pricy unless you get a year pass and use it, but the bookshop is reasonably priced, and all the book and author themed floors are terrific.
D. N.
Magical place to enjoy books and stories with little ones - birth to about KeyStage 1. Good child-friendly cafe with at least one vegan option on the menu.
C. F.
Fantastic place to take children, story time is particularly fun.
Advice; if you are taking a pushchair, and it is busy, there is only one lift available to get between the floors!
M. C.
A good place but it needs more space so there can be more than two exhibitions at once.
The exhibits themselves were good and gave the histories of the authors/illustrators as well as examples of their work.
C.
Paid what seems like a small fortune to get through the doors. The money was unfortunately not worth the activities held within. Excellent children's book shop though which is all we really wanted to do. Just too expensive for what it is.
M. S.
Haven for kids the whole area is worth a look so interesting the little farm mostly run by down syndrome and other kids supervised by some lovely people and the walk by the river was soothing then of course there,s the underground tunnels wow what a treat it was a wonderful day out cheers mo
I. -. W. T. S.
It's always filled with great activities for children 3 - 10, great staff always pleasant. I just don't think the size justifies the cost, but as a one treat or on a free day it's at must.
M. J. H.
our family just spent yet another full day here.my 4 year old loves it here and so do we parents.a safe fun exciting place with enthusiastic and helpfull fun staff.
Thank you seven stories.

Very good place for children to relax and enjoy good old stories told excellently by most enthusiastic staff

Great storytellers but most other rooms lack imagination and are superficial making a visit overpriced for such a brief period of interest
