Reviews of Whickham Hermitage Community Garden

Accidentally discovered this little gem in Whickham, the garden has many tranquil seating area, perfect for a sit down/coffee and community gathering place. They have seedling for sale too, and excitedly looking forward to their butterfly garden. Free welcoming visit, my kids were happily playing home at one of their lovely kiddy house.

Had a lovely coffee in the coffee shop and my husband had a piece of delicious ginger cake. The gardens are lovely. We'll be visiting again when the weather's nice to see the gardens in a nicer light. We parked behind the Gibside and walked across the road as there is no parking nearby that I could find.

It's a beautiful garden and nice little cafe.

I've lived nearby for years and often passed by, today I ventured in meeting up with a friend. Such a hidden gem, beautiful, well kept gardens with clear pathways. Plenty of places to sit and waterproof pods. A nice cafe with a simple menu. The bacon bap was tasty, my friend had scrambled egg and bacon on toast, also looked lovely. Friendly staff and also very clean. Would recommend you to visit.

Great garden, tucked away off Front Street. The Orangery cafe provides a friendly welcome and good service with home made food. My corned beef and potato pie, freshly made was delicious.

A beautiful garden which has been brought back to life by a dedicated band of volunteers. Many local community groups have their own small plot and local schools have contributed art work. The coffee shop is light and airy and very welcoming.
Homemade cakes and sandwiches can be bought and they are very reasonably priced
Handmade cards and small craft items are available as well as plants.

Nice coffee and tea available along with locally baked scones and other foods. We were able to see into the beautifully restored gardens and had a walk around after our snack.

This is a beautiful little gem of a garden, tucked away and easy to miss, a wander around the garden and then some great cake and a cup of coffee at the Orangery Cafe

A lovely, tranquil garden maintained by volunteers. Still has colour in the garden in November and a nice warm cafe serving tea, coffee and cakes and selling cards and craft by the artists in residence in aid of the upkeep of the garden.
