Little nice and chill gallery and museum.

A lovely little museum and gallery, plenty to see. Friendly and helpful staff. There is a gift shop and refreshments available in the museum cafe. Museum entry is free, so you can’t really complain, not that there’s anything to complain about anyway. I was very satisfied with my visit there. The gift shop and cafe prices are very reasonable and the level of service was great.

A hidden gem in Newport city centre! Art gallery on the top floor (lift available) is a curious eclectic mix of displays including permanent ones devoted to all things ‘tea’ and temporary exhibits from local artists - when we visited it was ‘ how green is my valley’ by Ron McCormick. The museum on Level 1 is accessed through the library and once again contains an eclectic mix of fascinating artefacts from Welsh history including interactive displays, and mosaics. There’s a kids activity trail to keep them busy too! Food and drink is limited to vending machines and seating area on top floor.

This place is a hidden gem of Newport. Never would've thought good old Newport would have something like this. Definitely worth the visit!

Very sparse and bland as a museum, extremely sparse as an art gallery. There was a lovely kids activity area in the art gallery, and that saved it. The library looks pretty good, but as out of towners, it was not why we were there. Shouldn't take you more than an hour or two to go through the museum and gallery. It has promise, and it is an amazing space that could really be used as a positive art space for the community. Let's hope happens in the future. There is no cafe, just a vending machine and some tables.

Super place. It's old now but the staff are superb. Superb library and an excellent reference library. A museum is encompassed within the building. You'll enjoy it very much. Many coffee shops in the square and great restaurants and cafe's within 5 mins walking distance. Enjoy.

Lovely place to visit . My grandchildren loved the museum and then we went into the library and read in the children's corner . It has sensory lights which kept my Austin grandson really chilled out . He loved the lights inside the padded seat box .

It is small but nice museum. I visited several times. Art gallery on second floor very poor I believe. There is video about Princess Margaret's visit. I really liked this video. And there are Transporter Bridge video and photos. But the first floor good. There are Roman objects and old Newport objects. Maybe an hour enough to visit.

Not a place I would make a special trip to come to see on its own but it's nice to pop in when I am in town and I enjoyed the transporter bridge exhibition and the art gallery especially the watercolour room and I will happily return when I am in town in the future. I will be fair Newport town has become lots better since the new Shopping Centre opened.

Small, but what it covers, it covers well. If you're learning about the Newport Chartists' Rising, I found it thorough and balanced. Also the display on living standards is good. The Roman section probably won't tell you anything new. But overall, not bad.

Lovely little museum, so easy to walk past, but worth paying a visit when you need a break from shopping. They really need a nrw coffee machine, though - it's great when it works but is breaking down far too often nowadays.

Interesting art gallery and museum in the heart of Newport. Art on display represented a good cross section of the City's collection mainly 20th Century artists. Museum exhibition needs updating. Limited cafe and shop.

A fascinating talk by Sebastien Boyesen former Newport town sculptor for Friends of Newport Museum. He shared his sketch book and work from the past 30 years. This man is truly a genius and it was an honour to be there.

The art gallery upstairs is great. The local history museum downstairs tries its best, but is a bit dull—there just haven't been enough interesting things happen in Newport to make it feel worthwhile.
