The lady on the reception was lovely and very helpful. A small place so doesn't take long to walk around but well worth the visit and very interesting with lots of useful information.

It is a small villa, I was told there is a larger one in Brading, it is well hidden between houses, but there is a sign, the staff is friendly, and I liked the experience
R. J.
Hidden villa in a residential area, however no problem to find it because it’s signposted.
I visited this one and Brading, congratulations to the staff and thank you for keeping it open for us tourists.

Hidden little Roman villa amongst residential houses. Good way to spend a couple hours on a rainy day learning something historical with the kids. They also enjoyed the play room recreating the pottery and 'living' like a Roman 😄

It was a little difficult to find and there is no carpark. The parts of the villa on display are quite small but there is quite a lot of information available. The education room for the children is very good and kept my daughter occupied for some time.
The villa wasn't busy so it was a very comfortable experience. The shop was well stocked and reasonably priced for the most part.

Lovely small museum. Kids enjoyed activity room. Nice human scale Roman farmhouse.

Children loved this place. Very good activity room with lots of things for them to do. We'll worth a visit to this small but interesting Roman Villa.
L. C.
Absolutely brilliant small, but well laid out museum. We loved it!

Really good explanation boards and room descriptions. Great for novices and children. Half an hour is plenty for grown-ups and the price of £3 for concessions is spot on.

Free open days in July. Small but amazingly well-bathed Roman farm villa.
R. W.
Excellent site, well worth a visit. There is parking nearby.
C. H.
A lovely little villa, good price, parking a bit difficult

Took my granddaughter for a treat. Although small area the staff provided a quiz sheet which ensured she looked very close to find the clues. She thoroughly enjoyed it and I learned a few things too

Roman villa in the care of the local council. Smaller than the more famous Brading Villa but just as interesting.

Kids really enjoyed and it was great to have all the various activities setup for the day!

Interesting place and activities with nice staff you can't miss.

This small council run museum to the villa remains housed in it is a hidden gem amongst Newport's suburbia, and targets a largely primary school audience.
L. B.
Enjoyed the experience. No long winded explanations. Info boards tell all in a short story.
We spent 30 minutes taking photos and marvelling at the ingenuity of these people
There is an activity room which the more dexterous will spend a lot more time in.
I didn't. A 4 piece jigsaw is too much for me, let alone repairing clay pots with a dozen and more pieces.
Recommended.

Small place but very informative

As visiting during Covid pandemic, we called ahead and were advised ok to visit at 2.30pm (last entry) and take whatever time needed. We enjoy history and do take our time to look at exhibitions- took us about 50 mins keeping socially distanced from other visitors.
Good bath section and some insight to Romanisation of island. Not a "wow" with loads of mosaics but interesting with some good explanations if you want to learn something about the island during Roman times. We enjoyed it. Free parking ok in neighbouring residential roads but we had to drive around a bit to find a slot.

Hidden gem. I visited this Roman Villa, after following directions to what looks like a normal suburban housing estate. There is no designated parking. But this Roman Villa is well worth any short walk. It is a wonderful example of Roman architecture, with a visitors centre built over and around the remaining walls and foundations. It was very quiet when we visited. The staff were helpful and informative. We spent around one and a half hours. There was an activity room which was lovely, all at children height and accessible Very much worth a visit

Roman villa is full of historical statues, mosaics and weapons. It's a good place to learn and have fun at the same time. It's easy accessible and if you go there on a school trip you can do some activities. The gift shop has lots of stuff to do with the history of it
S. B.
We couldn't believe that the villa was nestled in between the houses and would have gone right by it if not for Sat nav. Really interesting learning about all the excavated rooms and the information boards and displays as we're very good. Shop could be a little more diverse in its souvenir options, no fridge magnets :( we always collect them on our travels.

Lovely example of a Roman villa situated effectively in residential area in back gardens. Good display of artifacts. Well worth a visit.

If you don't slow down you will miss it. I love history and would proclaim I know more than the average bloke about the world's past. This place taught me quite a few things I wasn't aware of about Roman life in the Isles. A great 30 minutes to 1 hour stop over.

In a quiet suburban street this is a surprising find. The villa remains are housed and very well described inside the museum along with models showing what it looked like when in use. There are displays and activities which should engage all ages.

Ok. If you're interested in old relics. I went under pressure so can't rave about it.
J. B.
Went here with a free entry offer advertised on my children's school newsletter, didnt know it was here otherwise. Surprisingly pleased, interesting for adults & well laid out for the children with crafts.
R. L.
A really great visit! Extremely informative and I learnt a lot about Roman lifestyle in the villa. Would definitely recommend.
Both Roman villas on the Isle of Wight are good but in my opinion this one is better as there is more information and explanations!
P. G.
Very interesting and well presented sure to get youngsters hooked on history. We went on an 'free entry' day which was excellent and very busy. Look forward to a return trip
A. H.
Very interesting, hidden away but well worth a visit. Activity room for children and groups.
I was surprised at how much there was to see here, low cost entrance.

A little archeological gem hidden in Newport's suburbs . Well worth a visit if on IOW. Note limited street parking only.

Step back in time in an unusual place intresting to a geek like me
Its in a residential road and set slightly back.
Not a very expensive entry fee.
If you take in the medival castle just up the road as well its worth the trip

Very interesting place to go and see

Pleasant staff, interesting history. I love it because I love Roman history. There is an activity room for children. It can be difficult to find a parking space.

Great little place tucked away on a housing estate. Council run and maintained. A room packed full of activities for the kids (and adults can join in too)
J. L.
Looks small when you first approach, but very informative inside. Lots of signage and explanations and a brilliant activity room for younger visitors.
A. B.
Excellent small roman villa on the outskirts of Newport (not that easy to find without a satnav). Photos of early 20th century excavation. Much of foundations extant but some under next doors garden. Parts of Mosaics reconstructed. Hypocaust. A kitchen has been reconstructed also. Excellent vfm. Well worth the visit.
C. W.
It was a such a jewel in a side street. Great example of a Roman Villa with lots to see and read about. I think most visitors miss this off their sight seeing list.
T. W.
Would recommend a visit if interested in history. Allow 30-45 minutes to explore.

Good half day out for a fun educational event. The kids were really interested. Us adults enjoyed it too.
