Reviews of Abington Park Museum
Intricate and interesting carvings in the oak room. This museum seems to be a work in progress but a delightful place to visit and lots to see
Had a lovely afternoon here at a Craft Fayre
Current work going on inside but what was open was amazing!
Very informative, staff on hand to help too
Good for a small museum
Kids love walking round here
Good place to find a little history
Always a pleasure to walk around.
Beautiful place and fantastic exhibition.
Always a nice place to wander round.
A lovely place to visit. X
Beautiful long stretch park. There's a pond with fishes and kids enjoy when fish jumps to catch food .. There's cafe and ice cream vendors, play zone for kids, bird park with varieties of birds caged. Family events can be conducted. Great Picnic spot. And definitely greenery gives out good oxygen and a quick walk will gain health.. yes they have walking track and pets are allowed. For all age groups its happiest place one can enjoy being there.
The advertised event was nothing like the hype around it...
Free admittance and a great bit of local history
Park is lovely but no Gallones van.
Nice and clean with friendly staff
Nice and small. Creepy at times
Beautiful place to visit. An undervalued asset to Northampton.
Loads to look and see, free to go in. Can be a bit cold in there.
Shows some interesting artifacts and history from around Northampton
Nice to visit enjoyed it
Nice quaint place to visit. Free
Really nice, calm atmosphere, some of the rooms have been cleared enabling you to appreciate the beutiful house, some rooms still have the classic slightly disturbing, creapy museum vibe but others have been redecorated and are now really fresh and bright. Lovely❤

Great place to visit.
Great place to take the kids
Free entry, great display!
Great cheap day out
Lovely building in a really beautiful location adjacent to Abington Park. There's a good cafe nearby in the park with outdoor chairs and tables. The museum is currently hosting art lectures while the town centre art gallery is refurbished.
Lovely place to visit
Lovely informative museum.
Good showcase of local history
Mum loved the band
Always interesting exhibitions
An improving museum in a lovely setting.
Very interesting place.
Very nice museum
Great historic house of Northampton
Brilliant place to visit.
Went in for the 'Death on two legs' exhibition but ended up wandering around the rest of the museum and wow! Lots of informative exhibits about the world wars and the part played by Northmaptonshires very own Yeomany Regiment. Not only was I impressed by the war exhibits but also the many historical pieces displaying what life in Northampton was like over the past couple of decades.
Really worth a visit, especially if local to the area.
Grandson loves this place
Quite small but nice
Well worth a visit
Good depending on your interests
Great place and history.
Fun for the whole family.
Run down and quite disappointing currently.
Historic & interesting
Very nice place
Warm and inviting ,
Having visited this museum periodically over the past 50 years, it appears to be a shadow of its former self - a little disappointing and uninspiring now. A few of the original exhibits still exist, but a lot of the rooms seem a bit empty, with little to engage with the younger visitors. There is scant evidence of any investment from the sale proceeds of the Egyptian artifact - possibly the only valuable asset in the collections. As this is currently the only museum open to the public, it does little to promote Northamoton's cultural heritage.
Very friendly and interesting
Great santa run
Well worth a visit
Wonderful place 🤗
Not bad
Fantastic park.
Very intresting .
Nice musemum about what was Northampton before
Historical place of interest

Nice place to go out with the family and spend a nice day surrounded by nature outdoors! A suitable place for children! Nice playground! Nice museum! Wonderful! I recommend it to anyone who passes by to visit Northampton and not miss it!
I admire the people who take care of their own place. Museum made with love
Lots of children playing
Hello ice cream
A good improvement on when I last went a few years ago. It is actually quite interesting and well thought out now. Worth a visit - it's free!
😊😊😊
Great little museum (but bigger than you'd expect), got a bit of everything in it. Could easily spend an hour or two in there walking around.
Love taking kids here free admission good birds in Avery on the side of this museum good cafe and open spaces wonderful old standing buildings and a good lake near by and a nice play ground for the kids .
Went to this museum mistakenly with my friend Carl as we were actually wanting to visit the boot and shoe museum as Carl loves feet, but ended up here instead. I thought it was great but Carl was very disappointed.
Great free museum. Always worth visiting when going to Abington Park. The house has that mysterious, slightly spooky feel that the kids enjoy and the exhibits are well presented and interesting.
Absolutely beautiful museum, shows most of Northamptons history in a piece of history, staff are friendly, is child friendly has interactive play areas for them
Lovely little museum, well worth a family outing whilst the main building in the centre is undergoing refurbishment. New displays recently opened.
If you're in the park, it's worth paying a visit (it's free) and is quite interesting, but it's not somewhere that you make a special trip to visit. Opening times are a little random; open certain times, on different days at different times of the year.
Abington park museum is four starred museum I think and is perfect for our kids also.
Local history museum in the middle of Abington Park. Open on selected days. It's house a old Manor house and has lots of interesting items and history. Worth a look if visiting Northampton.
Nice place . Nice and big . Free amission with a little shop .sometimes hold plays on the courtyard . Nice little place and hold some.good events .
Lovely old building with character, lots go on inside, wax models, art gallery, just a nice place to visit.
Small but compact museum, a number of exhibits o do with the northampton regiment. My only gripe is that the enclosed courtyard is overgrown with weeds which let's the place down.
Great place, free admission but well worth leaving a donation... You can learn lots about the history of Northampton there, as well as just getting to explore this massive house. Definitely well worth a visit if you're in the area!
Interesting displays of militaria of local units . List of names of serving men in wars .wooden staircases and floors in the old building were made to last
went to see HAMLET, PLAY by MASQUE theatre group. excellent play. really intimate in the courtyard.
Never been to anything like this and will deffo do it again
The activities (bookable in advance) for children are always great. Today we made a suncatcher!
The museum is situated in Abingdon park in a Tudor manor house which dates back to 1485 and was formally a domestic residence, asylum and now a museum. The museum collection consist mainly of local artefacts from different years. The entrance is free and there are toilet and disabled toilet facilities. Parking on the perimeter road next to the park is free. The park contains a duck pond, fishing lake, children's play equipment, Avery and cafe.
Was interesting!
Nice little museum with some interesting items. Its free to enter and situated on a lovely park
Have great family activities during the holidays and weekends too sometimes. Always nice to have a look around the displays too.
The very best thing about this museum is the building that houses the museum, and specifically the courtyard within it; it is a favourite building of mine.
The actual museum is a local history collection, and has been hit by all the local govt cuts recently.
So nice, they have made some improvements and they look great. Have loved abington museum since i was a child and love it still now
Very quaint and good historic information, surrounded by a large park and near to a good play area
Loved taking my little ones here… Wonderful birds in Avery, great cafe with lovely coffee.
Truly amazing open spaces with beautiful wildlife and a good lake near by.
Little musuem in the park. Free to all. Great displays and always have fun learning for all ages. Little gem.
Nice museum situated in a lovely place and very nice and large park.
Nice local museum set in a lovely park with a couple of local cafes. Often hosts events and has an aviary attached.
A very interesting local museum. The guided talk giving details of the history of the families that occupied the land that is now Abington Park.
Local museum. Always love a wander around. Worth a visit!

Free and fun. Park is lovely but the museum and birds are worth a visit.
If you visiting the park is a must to go in to the Museum!
Always a pleasure to visit. Thanx to staff who put on activities for children!!
Well worth spending a lazy sunday here, a good one to do with the family. Especially liked the aviary
This visit was to a craft fair in the museum galleries so not a representative visit to the museum.
Great place to visit for children and adults, lots of factual information!
Really appreciated the opportunity to see the incredible history of Northampton and it's contribution to Great Britain. Must see if your in the Northants area.
Have visited here hundreds of times ..absolutely love it
interesting museum
Nice place to visit if your interested in local military history
Small but pretty little museum, in a beautiful park
Good place to visit lots off stuff for kids and adult to see
Visited an Arts and crafts fair at the Museum. Lots of unusual crafts but what caught my eye was the stall on the first floor with some unique handmade crafts run by friends and two cousins. "Purely Pastels" by Tracy Rood - exquiste fine art painting and drawings of animals and scenes. "Bootalishous: made from cute Wellington Boots with a plant/flower display in the centre. It's also on a hand carved and laquared log base. A handmade Yoga bag with pockets by cousin Diane. Gift bags filled with unique items. Authentic horseshoes
So much to look at...and be inspired by
Very good displays and information about the Northamptonshire and Rutlandshire regiments and yeomanries.
A lovely old house where you can lose a hour or so in having a brief trip through history.
Really interesting place where you can learn about war and a tiny bit of local history.

At food fair in the museum. Really good event. To try and buy local produce
I went during the craft fair not a bad place for the history of northampton
Lovely little museum telling the history of Northamptonshires military and the history of the house and life in Northampton. Free entry and well worth spending an hour wandering through the lovely old house. Be sure to see the birds outside too and spend some time in the magnificent park.
Very good surrounding for the open air play we attended.
Went to deliver pizza there and found it was a film crew! Didn't know that could be done!
Worth a single visit for kids, noce playarea and park nearby
Nice museum and a park with animals.
Small but very family friendly museum
My grandparents took me to Abington Park when I was little, now I'm taking my grandchildren there! Life's a circle.
Great local photography exhibition and artwork
I took my mum there and she loved it.
Has improved its layout and activities for the family.
Interesting place. Well kept and well worth a look.
An amazing place, full of loads of artifacts and information and lots of local history. With lots of events throughout the year its a fantastic place for adults and children. We have just been to the autumn food festival and come home with lots of delicious goodies. We've also attended the Easter egg hunt and also plan to go back for the Halloween special.
Nice museum in beautiful parkland surroundings.
A very interesting place for those who want to learn about military history, but not only that, my children were very interested in everything they saw, free entry, whoever wants can donate at the exit.

Great park had a food fair in the Musium
Great place to go with kids
We had the privilege of a "Behind the Scenes" tour, as part of Heritage weekend, last Saturday. We were very impressed. The new layout of the Museum is a great improvement, making the building seem lighter and more open.
