Reviews of Lamport Hall

A beautiful house, full of history. Lovely gardens, so well laid out, could have done with plant labels. Our guide was so informative.
E. A.
Incredible gardens, hope to come back when the house is open. I went to see family history as I am a descendant of the Ishams so it was really cool. Lots of history and if you want, ask for the keys to the church to see how beautiful it is inside.
S. B.
The reason for our visit was an Artisan craft fair which was very good. There are some great events advertised over the year. We also plan to visit the house/gardens which are open Wed & Thur until October.
M. P.
Lamport Hall is a wonderful place to visit. The walled garden is packed full of flowers ready to burst into flower. The tour of the house was most enlightening and very informative.
The toilets were also spotless...we will return!
A. S.
The house and grounds are stunning even in the winter the gardens were quite beautiful. The house was decorated for Christmas with trees from the estate. You are able to have a lovely cup of tea and sweet in the dining room. Do not miss the church or various gardens. The volunteers were warm, friendly, knowledgeable and made a wonderful experience even better.

Went to craft fair and antigue jewellery displays in converted barns. All well laid out, but a bit more variety of items be good to see, food and coffees available. The quality jewellers that wer present last time not there, shame.
J. C.
Guided tour took just over an hour and was extremely interesting and informative. Very knowledgeable guide who was happy to answer questions. Gardens worth a look too.
A. R.
Our daughter had an art exhibition there from northampton uni, their work was displayed in the hall itself, a stunning property, well loved and looked after, the gardens were equally wonderful.
E. G.
Visited the gardens at Lamport Hall, used a 2 for 1 offer so very reasonable, but do take cash. The long hot weather had not helped the gardens so maybe they were not at their best, but still a very impressive place. We had tea and cake in the house, which was excellent and a very original location. Overseas tourists will love it. Highly recommend it, and the staff are excellent.
B. C.
Lamport Hall Gardens are very beautiful and staff helpful and engaging. A lovely place for a stroll. House by your only so was not able to visit this time as went quite late. But a nice place to stop by and photograph. Cash needed to pay for entrance.
L. W.
My family and I attended the Lamport Hall country faire on the 2017 May Bank holiday, admission prices were a lot more reasonable than other faires locally and there was a lot to see and do!
Dog friendly as long as on a lead.
D. T.
Great house to tour! My only issue - it's hardly ever open. It's hard to fit in around the other homes hardly every open. But my family enjoyed seeing it very much. The gardens are nice to walk around in. The Rock garden is a little ramshackle...
J. C.
Went to the Christmas fair, good stalls, access wasn't great due to weather so not the Halls fault. Got our car stuck & wheelchair (whoops) lovely young lady helped us to get people together to push our car out & opened the front gate to allow the wheelchair to access the path. The young women waited with us & was very chatty. Fun day, hilarious ending

Great day out at antique fair with a friend. Catering excellent. Weather was good too. Free parking.
L.
Lamport Hall set in beautiful Northamptonshire countryside. Attended bank holiday craft fair. Interesting old farming machines on display.
I. M.
A pleasant experience at the recent antiques fair, although a wider selection of refreshments would have been welcome.
R. E.
Lovely stalls at the Christmas craft fair. I think the £5 entry fee is a bit steep though. You have to actually pay to go in and spend money, especially as Lamport would be getting money from the stall holders too!
R. M.
I really like this place especially the antique fair always go feels like a release from busy work and the sense of nostalgia there
N. F.
We visited the Steam Rallye, had a nice time! Pity that the gardens were closed.
J. M.
Attended a well-being day retreat hosted by Pure turtle.
The venue was perfect and tranquil and the attention to detail laid out by Pure Turtle was outstanding.
I arrived between 9.30 and 9.45 am to have time for
a drink and say hello to others, before the start.
They begin the day with a welcome session and then settled in with
some mindful relaxation, led by Michael, the meditation teacher,
before heading outside into the gardens for a very gentle
yoga/stretch session (no experience necessary) guided by yoga
teacher Jos Smith.
Then we had some quiet time to explore but Micheal took us on a tour and then left us to take in the breath taking garden and grounds. When we returned we were taken to the woodland area for a different rejection and healing session. The woodland was so calming and therapeutic. I even higher a tree, I felt like all my burdens had been lifted. Then we weren't invited to explore deeper and return to the main venture for lunch which Jackie arranged. our organic healthy lunch. Then back out into the grounds to play relaxation games and then finished off with a wind down mindful session.
Lamport hall was the ideal venue for the retreat. Close enough to drive to and incredibly Carthaginian.
P. M.
The antique fair was well organized. Looking forward to the next one in august
L. W.
Great house and excellent guide. Only open a few days of the week
M. J.
A lovely time spent at Lamport Hall for the snowdrop Spring walk & the gardens & hall
P. B.
We went to the fair which was lovely if not a little chilly!
However the exit route was a little" hairy" to navigate especially in a small car and mud
E. T.
Went to the Christmas craft fair aways enjoy looking at the amazing craft people have for sale and enjoyed a lovely hot chocolate with marshmallow s and whipped cream
Entery reasonably priced
M. S.
Beautiful snowdrop walk, wonderful exhibition by northants open studio
S. A.
Super place to spend your day with your family or even with little friends dogs go for awalk
R. H.
Amazing building with good events on throughout the year. I feel like it should be used more but this is I am sure easier said then done given current situation and financial constraints
G. B.
Delightful day made even better by an excellent guide.
j. s.
Went for the Christmas fair was beautiful will visit again in the warmer weather to look house and gardens
A. S.
Went to Arts and Craft Fair and it in the Mews area not the house. Better quality fair then it was as I was told. Impressive arrays of crafts
A. P.
Visited an art exhibition in the quadrangle which was very good.
B. S.
An interesting place to visit with grounds bigger than we expected. We went to a Country Life event. The price was a bit expensive at £8/9 each to get in and an extra charge to go into the house. There were plenty of stalls and exhibits so it made for an enjoyable day, seeing Shire Horses; steam traction engines and such.
P. T.
A lovely scenic place within the grounds of Lamport Hall . We paid Lamport Hall a visit to go to the Autumn craft fair that's held there every year. It was held in the stable block with many stalls. Well worth a visit. Disability access and facilities are available.
C. C.
Went to the Antiques2go at Lamport Hall, first time I’ve been and was well impressed plenty of stalls well worth the £5 entrance fee.
I. M.
Visited one of the best country events that I have attended. A brilliant day with so much to see and do. A fabulous display of static engines complemented a large number of steam engines both full size and miniature. Classic cars, motorcycles, tractors and army vehicles means there is something for everyone. Then heavy horses, dogs and livestock plus a good food hall and variety of charity stalls. Roll on June 2019. I will be back.
S. M.
The Christmas fair was good lots of lovely crafts and lots of people there.
M. G.
Was very pleasant morning, didn't go round the gardens as there was a craft fair on, so can't comment on that.
J. P.
Lamport hall steam show was absolutely fantastic. Loads to see. Children and dog friendly. Plenty of seating around food places and tea coffee. Water for dogs outside tents. Loads of exhibits. Well worth the visit. Hall was a lovely place to tour. Plenty of beautiful things to see. Tour took about 1 hr. Well worth it.
B. S.
It was a lovely day with lots to look at. Antique Fairs there are well presented with lots of items to loo at.
O. G.
Good but the Xmas markets were more of a craft fair than market
C. S.
Beautiful gardens. Well worth a visit. Lots of older herbaceous perennial varieties.
J. S.
Wonderful gardens and lovely house tour which was very interesting from a very knowledgeable, friendly guide. Can certainly recommend a visit
S. M.
Visited here with my family on a wet and windy Easter Monday - having not been able to go to Holdenby House, as planned.
Fantastic - very welcoming; lots to see for the children. The garden was really very nice.
The cafe is OK - a bit pricey, but OK.
As ever with these types of places, the children are not really allowed to touch much, nor to run around screaming - which presents it's own problems, but all in all, very good.
O. H.
Great day out, they have lots of events on during the year. well worth while checking their events calendar for an event that catches your eye from traction engine's to flower walks they have everything catered, set in a beautiful location with a great pub with good food near by you can spend the whole day in this area
C. W.
Wow! Don't be fooled this place is gorgeous. The interiors are in superb condition, I love the free flow tour it let's you really see everything. The gardens are huge and well designed, the walled garden really is huge, plenty to see and places to sit and admire the hall and gardens. Great value for money and the staff were friendly and helpful :)
R. R.

j. e.
The country show was amazing! Huge selection
M.
Fabulous place to visit
A. S.
Not as good as last year but was OK. The fly over could have lasted a bit longer and the pork roll we had by the sheds was horrible, go learn how to cook please. But overall it was OK this time, we'll try again next year and if it's no good we'll not go again.
B. D.
A fabulous Antiques fair in the wonderful setting of Lamport Hall, so much history.
D. W.
Keep meaning to go round the hall everytime we attend a craft fair....but never do....I bet it's great....as was the cheese and pickled onions from the fair....just the scotch egg left to eat...yum yum
M. S.
Lamport Hall in itself is an amazing place to visit, we visited for the Antiques Fair which I was not totally impressed with as a lot of the stalls seemed to have everybody's old junk as opposed to proper antiques
S. O.
One of the best landmark stately home of Northamptonshire. Lovely interiors and gardens. Located at a wonderful spot with superb vistas. It also has a Rural Life outdoor museum.
L. T.
We went to the country fair that was on and had a nice afternoon. From what we could see, the gardens looked very nice but didn't venture in because we had the dog with us.
J. M.
A lovely home and gardens to visit. Although we where there to visit the Steam Engine fair a two day event over Sunday and Bank Holiday weekend.
K. B.
