Reviews of The Norfolk Tank Museum
Finally got to do my Tank driving experience which was booked for March 2020!!
I never thought at I would have spent the amount of time I did with Stephen before driving. What a guy, he is a mind of information on all things tanks. Both my wife and I got taken around the museum which is impressive as he has built the collection.
But the driving was great, fun and enjoyable. Loved the time there and WILL go again to look round and enjoy the collection and talking with Stephen. Even my wife enjoyed herself.
Fabulous museum, with knowledgable, extremely friendly volunteer staff. They will even let you get inside some of their tanks. Well worth a visit if you are in the area and fancy learning some military history.
Did the tank driving experience for my partner’s bday. One of the best things we’ve done in Norfolk!! First he shows you round the museum which is basically a massive collection of cool fun stuff. The owner Stephen is insanely into tanks and his passion is infectious. Him and his staff know so much about warfare it’s absolutely fascinating. The tank driving experience is SO MUCH FUN!! He’s got a whole race course you go round with hills you drive up! Also if you’re not from Norfolk you get to meet proper locals and get to know them ☺️
Excellent collection and friendly volunteers who know every thing about the collection. You can actually go inside two of the tanks so you appreciate what the battlefield condition must have been like for the soldiers.
Very good historical military radio collection too they have great examples of UK cold war and WII in the hut outside the main hanger
Went to Armourfest. Lots of vehicles and reasonably priced. Enjoyed our day. Tractor ride to and from carpark appreciated. Staff very friendly.
Lovely flat campsite with the added bonus of onsite ice cream and lollies. Nice welcome from owner, play area for youngsters. Picnic area with saplings and a short drive to independent garden centre and shops. Swimming pool next door and excellent museum on site. Will add this to my list of favourites for next time I'm in Norfolk.
Small but worth it!!! You can touch..which was great for my son.
Great place to visit. Staff are friendly and helpful, one even let us get inside a Chieftain tank, through the actual top. There's a great WW1 replica tank which you can get inside and explore completely. Also, plenty of real, deactivated guns to look at. When I first went, you could pick some of them up. The second visit a year later, they were chained to the wall.
Superb little gem. Guys show you round very knowledgeable and friendly. Great value. Great to see the volunteers working to keep these tanks running
We stayed overnight with our motorhome. Lovely location. Exhibits interesting. Volunteers labouring hard repairing and reinstalling a power pack on a vehicle.
One of the best places. Wery friendly staf. Nice to see peace of history. Nice museum to go with all family. Cheap. Good parking. I will come back soon again. Thank you so much for amazing sunday. All family wery happy. See you soon.
A small but very interesting museum. Staff are on hand and very willing to talk to you and share relevant information.
I can recommend a visit.
Visited while on holiday in the area, what a fantastic little museum. So much to see and very friendly and knowledgeable staff special thanks to John who made it so interesting.
Compact venue with a remarkable collection. Had an informative chat with the guys there who look after the mostly British armoured exhibits. The WW1 replica was the highlight but there were other rare finds. Also an armoury with various historical firearms. There is a small tearoom at the ticket cabin and toilets.
Fantastic little museum, with friendly knowledgeable volunteers. Lots to see in a small area. Highly recommend
Fantastic place. My boys were even asking questions! Its great for kids as very hands on and brings thr experience alive. Staff very welcoming. Loved the all terrain tank ride. Toilets are clean. Nice coffee shop and play area. Can not reccomend this place enough its epic! We will be going again.
Cool place, many tanks and you can climb in a couple of them, lots to look at, the staff are happy to answer your questions and very very polite. Cafe and toilet available. Play area for the kids and appear to be a camp site also.
Lovely little museum to visit. It has a tea room, play area and car park. It is not a big museum and can be done quite quickly, if you dont take the time to read the information or talk to the staff or volunteers. We however had a very interested 6 year old, who wanted to learn about the tanks. Staff were super friendly and helpful . We enjoyed ourselves, but at the moment felt that £8 an adult was a bit pricey (to us). Would like to visit again, especially if at some point they'll be allowed to do events etc again.
Amazing little place run by volunteers, the staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Please don't expect Bovington, but from little acorns mighty oaks grow. Watch out for their big event second weekend in August
If you are into tanks this place is just awesome, first impressions it seems quite small but this is far better than some bigger tank collections,
this place lets you get up close and yes you can get inside the tanks, no do not touch signs, get inside a Centurion Tank, Chieftain Tank, handle weapons and armour piercing shells, this gives you a real tank experience, they have an event which is called armourfest when they fire up all the tanks and tear about in them, you can have a ride in a tracked vehicle, I even had my 50th there and got to drive a tank and a tracked vehicle, whole family loves the place. A good hands on tank experience. Ask questions and get inside to make the most of it and feel the steel, look through the sights and feel what its like to be a tanker.
Not the biggest but had a brilliant guide very knowledgeable and u can actually touch and hold certain items . Well-done to all the volunteers and it will only get better.
Great stuff.Bit small but great as you can go inside some tanks
Got a flyer at Tankfest so came and had a look. It's a private collection so it's only small. But...there's some amazing vehicles and most in running order. The staff were so helpful and went above and beyond... even though they were washing and parking up tanks they took the time to talk to me and to demonstrate some small arms.
Like I say, only small but well worth an hour or so.
Wow! What a day, and I dont even like tanks!! Bought the tank driving for my husband. Steve was absolutely stunning. So interesting and so knowledgeable that I stayed too and really enjoyed it all. A very worthwhile experience. My husband loved it all too. Brilliant.
An excellent range of tanks and military equipment in an easy to get to setting. Knowledgable and friendly staff who explained everything and couldn't have been more helpful. Reasonable entry fees and prices for drinks etc. All in all a fantastic day out with two 10 year old boys. My son commenting "it's the best day of the year"! Highly recommended...
Fantastic place for all family
Absolutely superb, a fantastic collection of armour and small arms, the staff are so helpful and knowledgeable. A cracking day out.
Loved it! You actually got to sit in since of their tanks. The kids absolutely loved it.
Decided to visit the Norfolk Tank Museum instead of the other tank museum near the North Coast and very glad we did. The collection is very good and the displays are very informative. We were also lucky to visit when some tanks were being moved around, so we got to see (hear and smell) them in motion, including the Mark IV that Guy Martin was involved with. The ride in the BV was worth the small fee, and the entry fee was very cheap for the 3 hours we spent there.
Awesome museum. It was very hands on and informative. Highly recommend!
An excellent little museum with very helpful and knowledgeable staff who are only too happy to talk about their collection. Well worth the 5 hr round trip I made to get there!
Great place to visit. Very interesting and staff are very helpful and more than happy to answer any questions. Cafe on site as well, where hot drinks and sandwiches are served. And if anybody remembers the Guy Martin programme he did about building a WW1 tank 'Deborah ll'. Well she lives here, as the people here played a major part in the build.
This museum was fabulous, the staff were so knowledgeable and helpful, I would really recommend a visit here
Great place if your an enthusiast of heavy metal with several exhibits of the tanks used by the British Army since World War 2 with some earlier machines and armournants. Also a good cafe with seating inside and out. Worth a visit if your in the area some special weekends are advertised at times.
Excellent museum well worth the visit
Great little museum had a fantastic few hours. Very organised with the current restrictions, one way system etc. Staff very knowledgeable and nothing was to much trouble. Sadly because of restrictions unable to climb in the tanks or go for a tank ride. They also do tank experiences here, so I am planning a surprise for my partner and son, can't wait for the phone call from Steve to arrange it once the current restrictions have been lifted 😃
Visited on Sunday as part of a large group, having read previous reviews we were a bit apprehensive about what we would find. Glad to say the we found the poor reviews far from the truth. From the start we were made to feel very welcome. It's obvious that a lot of work has been done to comply with covid restrictions so sadly we weren't able to climb inside the exhibits. This did not detract in any way from our experience. All the staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and were on hand to answer any questions. This museum has something for everyone young and old and we will definitely be returning. Hopefully next time the restrictions will have been lifted and we can have a ride too 🙂🙂🙂
Great place to visit! Steven was a really good guide. We quizzed him about all the different exhibits and he was more than happy to answer all our questions. Shame that Covid19 put a stop to being able to climb into the tanks and going for a ride but that's just the way it is this year. Will definitely aim to visit again when we are able to do more!
First class experience. Very informative thoroughly enjoyable and most interesting.
Had a fantastic visit to the Norfolk Tank Museum, really enjoyed it. They have some great exhibits and are really knowledgable.
All social distancing measures in place with one way systems and hand sanitizer. Unfortunately, social distancing has meant no rides available at the moment, but that just gives us an excuse to come back when they can! Can't wait!
Had a fantastic few hours today, staff extremely helpfull and enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We were able to climb inside two tanks which was a pleasure and an experience. The ride was alot of fun and i recommend it. Facilities are good and plenty of tanks and weapons to see. Will return if we are that way again. Well done. Our kids had fun.
Great to see tanks and vehicles that I served in and more. More signage needed from main roads to get folks in who may otherwise pass by the A140. It was excellent to spend as much time as we wanted in a Chieftain putting my children through their turret drills! Good stuff on display. I understand they are hopefully close to securing charitable status which will be a good help. It's great to see lads that have a passion for their charges, as it was to get back on a wagon after 24 years. Well worth a visit.
Had a great afternoon being shown around by one of the guides - who are very friendly and do a great job of bringing the experience to life. One of the few places you can actually get inside a tank (and a scout car) and have someone explain what it was like for the actual crew. Even the girlfriend enjoyed it!
Definitely a hidden gem and we're very to George for taking the time to show us how to climb in and out of things!
We stayed here in ourtour motorhome for three nights recently in our Well maintained grounds, very clean facilities and friendly welcome from the owners, nothing was too much trouble. Reasonable price, electricity, fresh water and cassette emptying facility all provided. Short walk to bus stop if you wish to head into Norwich City for some sightseeing. Tank museum was very interesting. Would definitely stay here again.
Had a fantastic day at The Norfolk Tank Museum my son and Daughther 14 and 5 both enjoyed our day immensely being able to climb into and over the large tanks was great fun and the time the owner and his team of volunteers spent with my lad discussing the various riffles and exhibits was over and above what we were all expecting so a massive thumbs up from us all.
We came along to the museum on Saturday for a tank experience. We thouroghly enjoyed our afternoon on our own personal tour around the museum. In our personal tour our son got to drive 2 of the tanks which he enjoyed so much. The information of the tanks were really interesting of what went on in the past. This was a great 21st birthday gift to our son and I would recommend this museum to anybody. Thank you for a great and memorable day.
Small but a good day out
Although rather small, this museum is well worth a visit to anyone interested in armoured warfare. It is a great place to take the kids too because you can climb on and into the tanks and armoured cars and handle the various small arms on display.. The staff were very friendly and very knowledgeable. Well recommended.
Just been on a tank experience day, well Worth it, absolutely incredible experience, would recommend to anyone. Couldn’t rate it highly enough. Fantastic small museum, with knowledgable, friendly staff that are keen to get people involved. Again, would recommend to anyone, brilliant day out and thanks again to Steve for the tour and the once in a lifetime chance to take a Saladin tank for a spin!
Had a really nice day out when visited, a good selection of displays to look at and lots of information as well. The staff were friendly and really informative and took the time to answer questions in depth and really engaged the children as well. It really is worth taking the time to visit. The only thing in my opinion the place needs to do better is to advertise its self a bit more as not alot of people know it exists and it's a great shame as it's such a great place.
It's not Bovington with 100s of tanks, however where it excels is the accessibility of the exhibits and the staff who spent well over an hour talking us through many of the weapons. We were able to actually go inside two tanks which was amazing. Also a really fun tracked vehicle ride going over some very steep hills.
It's intimate and run by some very knowledgeable enthusiastic staff.
Excellent museum and great people running it. I'm very impressed that they have so many of their displays in working order.
Was a good experience especially the ride at the end of the day
I went here today with SEVEN children!! Aged 2-14years and each one enjoyed the day equally!! Amazing one of a kind place! Hands on museum where you get a real experience by being able to touch and get in the tanks!! All staff were extremely lovely and very knowledgable and happy to answer ANY questions!! (Just remember to take cash!! No card payments accepted and although we did the tank ride we would have done so much more had we have had more cash!!) HIGHLY RECCOMMEND!!!
Never judge a book by its cover! - my son and I had a fantastic guided tour of the exhibits by a very knowledgable and hugely interesting man. Its a hands on museum so you get to climb on the tanks, armoured car and hold some guns etc. A must visit at a bargain of £6.50 and children free.
A great tank museum to visit. Although the museum looks a little small they do have a good selection of tanks and other military memorabilia. Our visit was made more interesting with a friendly guided tour by Richard. We look forward to visiting again some time.
Lots of knowledgeable volunteers to answer questions, plenty of tanks (some original, some replicas) and a great cafe on site for light bites. A fab place to spend an afternoon
Quiet and tucked away. A rare opportunity to not only get close to but actually inside of a selection of tanks, with the two standout gems being the British MK4 (WW1) and the Huge Chieftain.
Bovington or Duxford it is not, but nor does it pretend to be. It is a small working museum with plenty of character. A lot of effort has obviously been put into the collection of not only tanks and other land vehicles, but models and radio equipment too.
Perfectly priced at £16 for a family of 4, there were staff on hand to give a personal guided tour at no extra cost if needed. They are very patient and will answer and did answer all of my 7yr olds questions.
Almost everything in the museum can be touched, sat in, picked up and played with.
Well worth the visit - allow around 1.5hrs for the visit.
Had a guided tour, the person in charge was very helpful, no effort was too much to answer my questions, he is very knowledgeable about military and historical subjects, i left with fascinating new insights. And of course the replica of the WWI tank and its story is extremely interesting.
Great place. Had a really good time.
Thanks Steven what a really enjoyable evening and good talk. I would recommend this place to anyone interested in militaria. You are a very knowledgeable and friendly host.
A small but very friendly museum. The volunteers are very happy to explain the exhibits. Very impressive WW1 tank. Cafe very reasonably priced. Best bit was climbing into the chieftain.
A wonderful wee place to visit. The entry price was cheaper than stated on the website (went on a Thursday) and the volunteers were frindly and especially helpful, encouraging the kids to have a look around tanks and indicating the select ones that they could actually get inside and have a look around. Well worth a visit if you are visiting the area.
A truly hands-on experience. Not many museums will allow access to the insides of their vehicles and to handle the exhibits so you get a real feel of what being a tanky is all about. The off-road BV rides are something else. For a small museum they really try hard to make your day enjoyable.
Very interesting museum for adults and children Richard and the other lads talked us through all the vehicles on site some tanks children can go into and have a look inside very hands on great place to go and visit.
Don't forget to have a look at the MK4 first world war tank replica amazing.
Good few hours out with the kids
If you like tanks then you will love this place we injoy it kids allowed to sit in the tanks so they loved that we will be going back 👍
Had a Great visit Sunday. Even with the Covid restrictions it is an interesting place, Staff helpful and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this as a visit if you like Military equipment and History.
Totally great experience, good value and so much more than you would expect. Knowledgable and tremendous for kids - they are encouraged to climb on the tanks! Great people.
My eight year old and I spent 5 hours in there and just loved it. We are going back in spring on the free second visit pass they give you.
Kind, nice staff, very helpful, especially the shop supervisor..who generously didn't ban me. Thank you
A gem of a museum. Was well worth the visit. Some great tanks especially the mk4 replica built by Guy Martin and themselves. A very relaxed and friendly bunch of very knowledgeable people.
What a great place for it's and adults, not just great tanks but great staff to. Very knowledgeable about everything n display and super friendly. My little lads loved it there
My son loves this place. He comes to the evening events and talks. He comes away enthusiastic and motivated.
He wants to join the British army and become a tank engineer

Great place to visit.
Fantastic place brilliant for kids and big kids......
Totally awsome
This an excellent museum in the middle of the Norfolk countryside. It is smaller than Muckleborough but that doesn't detract from it. It makes it easier to talk to the people about the tanks.
(Translated) A small but extremely attractive museum! You can get into most of the exhibits and see what it's like to be a tanker;)
(Original)
Małe ale mega atrakcyjne muzeum! Do większości eksponatów można wsiąść i zobaczyć jak to jest być czołgistą ;)
(Translated) I would recommend :-)
