Y. I.Nice place for exhibitions but it needs a lot to do for "restoration"
C. U.Awesome gallery and workshop space with some interesting exhibitions and workshops taking place. Apparently you can become am associate member for £5 a month which give you access to their screen printing facilities, openings and other stuff.
M. S.The gallery is on the second floor. Access, by stairs, is via the door on the corner of the building, at the Alfred Street end. If it's locked, as it was when I visited, use button 2 on the intercom to the left of the door.
The gallery is a visually striking (some would say shabby industrial chic) environment put to good use housing contemporary art.
The excellent and thought provoking Simon Starling exhibition included a film, and the only seating provided was a hard laminate bench -- not even topped with carpet, and no back support. Not comfortable for older visitors or those who are less able.
Well worth a visit, all that being said.
