We went to the British Museums travelling exhibition on Ancient Iraq;New Discoveries. The archaeology of Iraq was beautifully and fascinatingly displayed. The artefacts were interesting and absolutely stunning. The exhibition was laid out in a figure eight rather than the usual clockwise but the incredibly friendly and knowledgable museum assistants were able to direct us to get the most information and see the exhibition in its best suggested route.
We found a further photographic exhibition for local Nottinghamshire architecture, which was nice to see, as well. it did seem a little weirdly spaced near the Iraq exhibition. Although, we later learned that it had opened early and was due to officially open after the Iraq archaeology exhibition was closed. So we got to see two exhibitions at the same time! Winning!
There was a little cafe to grab some light refreshments after taking your time having a good look through both the main hall and the additional exhibition space. And there was a small shop with locally handcrafted gift options and some great books about the local area and the exhibition.
The only confusing part (as someone who had never been before) was that a further exhibition space was in the rotunda which was only accessible through the gift shop (if you started at the main entrance) and passed a lot of offices. Thankfully I had a local with me and they guided me through the experience. If you ask the staff at the shop they will be able to direct you through the building to see more and local archaeological and historical artefacts.
All in all it was an enjoyable and well worth a visit.

I went to the Ancient Iraq exhibition today. Amazing to see artifacts over 4,500 years old

I have visited the Treasures of Art from Iraq exhibition twice at the Djanogly Art Gallery. It is on loan from the British Museum. It is a marvelous collection of artefacts from Ancient Iraq and Mesopotamia. There are captions explaining the significance of each object, together with maps showing the different civilizations and videos of how the excavations took place at different times
In a separate hall is a great collection of photographs which show many important Buildings of Nottinghamshire . These were used in the Pevsner series Buildings of England and there is a useful explanation of how the photographs were edited to emphasise the building rather than the era in which they were taken.

Part of the Nottingham University site and the Lakeside Centre. Been here today to see the FREE Viking exhibition. Fantastic display of information and practical exhibits to see. Lots of different events on throughout the year, great venue. Small cafe on site selling drinks and nibbles, toilets and a small shop. Car park however is pathetic, my advice is park the car at the Toton Tram park, which is free, and take the tram

Free entry. Currently showing an interesting exhibition of sculptures by women. Cafe adjacent. Free parking.

I loved the exhibition celebrating female sculptors since 1945. It left me thinking if there were any before that? As per, I began looking around with both amusement and delight. Some made utter sense and some were utter nonsense. It's at these points I began making photographic work as a means of 'trying to make sense' of them by using my own medium. I was then in delight at all of it. Thank the Lord for photography.

Amazing place with a fantastic, free exhibition by Mat Collishaw. Short and sweet.
Best of all were the very helpful, friendly and professional staff.
I would recommend it to everyone!

A lovely little gallery. A lot of students probably have never been inside but they're missing out. Particularly enjoyed Homage to the Bauhaus. The cafe is also nice.

Safe and Pretty selection. Some sour grapes because my sculptures not selected, but really disappointed that no free-standing sculpture at all (2 wall-mounted pieces notwithstanding).

Wonderful paintings (Hitchens) but difficult to see most of them because of glare from lighting on glass.

I went to see the Ivon Hitchens display. I was most impressed with this. I found the café reasonably priced with a nice variety.
This is the first time I have been to the Lakeside in a very long time and I was impressed with the changes.

Got to be the best gallery in the Nottingham area. As well as getting really good exhibitions on a regular basis it is staffed by friendly and knowledgeable young people.

Art gallery fantastic with excellent exhibitions. Cafe could do with a boost; worst, most expensive sandwich I've ever had! Bring back the salad bar!
